  1. For everyone here.

  2. Why is today called good?

  3. I would look at the last few hours of Christ's life to see how things unfolded for him.

  4. From a human point of view, this story should be called Horrible Friday.

  5. Let's look at Luke 22.

  6. We'll start Luke 22, verses 1 to 6.

    Luke 22:1–6

  7. Now the Feast of the Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,

  8. and the chief priests and the teachers-in-law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus,

  9. for they were afraid of the people.

  10. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the twelve.

  11. And Judas went out to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard

  12. and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.

  13. They were delighted and agreed to give him money.

  14. He consented and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

  15. One of Jesus' disciples agreed to sell Jesus to the Jewish leaders.

  16. This was someone Jesus had poured three years discipling into,

  17. and he sold them for 30 pieces of silver.

  18. He felt that was of some value.

  19. This is a major attack on Christ.

  20. Luke 22, 24 to 26.

  21. And a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be the greatest.

  22. Jesus said to them,

  23. The king of the Gentiles lord it over them,

  24. and those who exercise authority over them called themselves benefactors.

  25. But you are not to be like that.

  26. Instead, the greatest of you amongst you should be like the youngest,

  27. and the one who rules like one who serves.

  28. Very human question.

  29. Who is the greatest?

  30. They were, the disciples were arguing who is the greatest.

  31. This is a blow to Jesus.

  32. Three years of discipleship,

  33. And that's what they could focus on.

  34. Luke 22, 45.

  35. When he arose from prayer and went back to the disciples,

  36. he found them asleep,

  37. exhausted from sorrow.

  38. Why are you sleeping?

  39. He asked them.

  40. Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation.

  41. At a time when Jesus needed support in prayer,

  42. the disciples could not focus on what was important,

  43. but nodded off.

  44. So this is the most crucial time.

  45. Just before the crucifixion,

  46. Jesus wanted their support,

  47. and they slipped.

  48. 22, 47.

  49. While he was still speaking,

  50. a crowd came up,

  51. and the one called Judas,

  52. one of the twelve,

  53. was leading them.

  54. He approached Jesus to kiss him,

  55. but Jesus asked him,

  56. Judas,

  57. are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?

  58. When Jesus' followers saw what was going to happen,

  59. they said,

  60. Lord, should we strike with our swords?

  61. And one of them struck the servant of the high priest,

  62. cutting off his right ear.

  63. Judas,

  64. one of Christ's twelve disciples,

  65. betrays him.

  66. Luke 22, 45-62.

  67. Then seizing him,

  68. they led him away,

  69. and took him into the house of the high priest.

  70. Peter followed at a distance,

  71. but when they had kindled a fire

  72. in the middle of the courtyard

  73. and had sat down together,

  74. Peter sat down with them.

  75. A servant girl

  76. saw him seated there in the firelight.

  77. She looked closely at him and said,

  78. this man was with him,

  79. but he denied it.

  80. Woman,

  81. I don't know what you're,

  82. I don't know him.

  83. A little later,

  84. someone else saw him and said,

  85. you were one of them.

  86. Man,

  87. I am not,

  88. Peter replied.

  89. About an hour later,

  90. another asserted,

  91. certainly,

  92. this fellow was with him,

  93. for he is a Galilean.

  94. Peter answered,

  95. man,

  96. I don't know what you're talking about.

  97. Just as he was speaking,

  98. the rooster crowed.

  99. The Lord turned

  100. and looked straight at Peter.

  101. Then Peter remembered

  102. the words the Lord had spoken to him.

  103. Before the rooster crows today,

  104. you will disown me

  105. three times.

  106. And he went out

  107. and wept bitterly.

  108. Peter,

  109. who vowed to die

  110. with Christ

  111. only a few hours earlier,

  112. is intimidated

  113. by a slave girl.

  114. And then Luke 22,

  115. 63 to 65.

  116. The men who were guarding Jesus

  117. began to mock

  118. in beating him.

  119. They blindfolded him,

  120. demanded,

  121. prophesy,

  122. who hit you?

  123. And when they had said

  124. many other insulting things

  125. to him,

  126. the Roman soldiers

  127. mocked him.

  128. Luke 22,

  129. 61 to 71,

  130. 66 to 71.

  131. At daybreak,

  132. the council of the elders

  133. and the people,

  134. both the chief priests

  135. and the teachers of the law,

  136. met together

  137. and Jesus was held

  138. before them.

  139. If you were the Christ,

  140. they said,

  141. tell us.

  142. Jesus answered,

  143. if I tell you,

  144. you will not believe me.

  145. And if I answer you,

  146. you would not answer.

  147. But from now on,

  148. the son of man

  149. will be seated

  150. at the right hand

  151. of the mighty God.

  152. They all asked,

  153. are you then

  154. the son of God?

  155. He said,

  156. the son of,

  157. yeah,

  158. are you the son of God?

  159. He said,

  160. you are right

  161. in saying I am.

  162. Then they said,

  163. why do we need

  164. any more testimony?

  165. We have heard it

  166. from their own lips.

  167. Kangaroo court.

  168. That's all it was.

  169. Kangaroo court.

  170. Other gospels tell

  171. how false accusations

  172. were made,

  173. but nothing stuck

  174. until Jesus admitted

  175. to being the son of God.

  176. Luke 23,

  177. 1 to 3.

  178. Then the whole assembly

  179. led away

  180. and rose

  181. and led him off

  182. to Pilate.

  183. And they began

  184. to accuse him,

  185. saying,

  186. we have found this man

  187. subverting our nation.

  188. He opposes payment

  189. of taxes to Caesar

  190. and claims to be Christ.

  191. A king.

  192. So Pilate asked Jesus,

  193. are you the king

  194. of the Jews?

  195. Yes, it is,

  196. as they said,

  197. Jesus replied.

  198. So,

  199. false accusations.

  200. Jesus never said,

  201. don't pay taxes

  202. and he never

  203. wanted to be,

  204. never claimed

  205. to be a king

  206. that rivaled Caesar.

  207. He is a king,

  208. but he's not

  209. a human king.

  210. So anyways,

  211. this was again,

  212. false accusations.

  213. Luke 23,

  214. 6 to 11.

  215. On hearing this,

  216. Pilate asked

  217. if the man

  218. was a Galilean.

  219. Then he learned

  220. that Jesus

  221. was under Herod's

  222. jurisdiction.

  223. He sent him to Herod,

  224. who was also in Jerusalem

  225. at that time.

  226. When Herod saw Jesus,

  227. he was greatly pleased

  228. because for a long time

  229. he'd been wanting

  230. to see him.

  231. He wanted a circus show.

  232. From what he had heard

  233. about him,

  234. he hoped to see him

  235. perform some miracles.

  236. He plied him

  237. with many questions,

  238. but Jesus gave him

  239. no answer.

  240. The chief priests

  241. and the teachers of the law

  242. were standing there,

  243. vehemently accusing him.

  244. Then Herod and his soldiers

  245. ridiculed and mocked him,

  246. dressing up in an elegant robe.

  247. They sent him back

  248. to Pilate.

  249. Luke 23,

  250. 13 to 24.

  251. Pilate called together

  252. the chief priests,

  253. the rulers of the people

  254. and said to them,

  255. You brought me this man

  256. as one who incited

  257. the people to rebellion.

  258. I have examined him

  259. in your presence

  260. and have found no basis

  261. for your charges

  262. against him.

  263. Neither has Herod,

  264. for he sent him back to us.

  265. As you can see,

  266. he has done nothing

  267. to deserve death.

  268. Therefore,

  269. I will punish him

  270. and then release him.

  271. With one voice

  272. they cried out,

  273. Away with this man.

  274. Release Barabbas

  275. to us.

  276. Barabbas had been

  277. thrown into prison

  278. for an insurrection

  279. in the city

  280. and for murder.

  281. Wanting to release Jesus,

  282. Pilate appealed

  283. to them again,

  284. but they kept crying out,

  285. Crucify him.

  286. Crucify him.

  287. For the third time,

  288. he spoke to them,

  289. Why?

  290. What crime

  291. has this man committed?

  292. I have found him

  293. no grounds

  294. for death penalty.

  295. Therefore,

  296. we'll have him

  297. punished and released.

  298. So this is Barabbas.

  299. Not Jesus

  300. was chosen

  301. by the crowd

  302. to be released.

  303. Barabbas led

  304. an insurrection

  305. against Rome

  306. and probably murder

  307. of a Roman soldier.

  308. John

  309. 19,

  310. 8-12

  311. describes

  312. what happened,

  313. 8-12.

  314. Then Pilate heard this.

  315. He was even more afraid

  316. and went back

  317. inside the palace.

  318. Where do you come from?

  319. He had asked Jesus.

  320. But Jesus gave him

  321. no answer.

  322. Do you refuse

  323. to speak to me?

  324. Pilate said.

  325. Don't you realize

  326. I have the power

  327. either to free you

  328. or to crucify you?

  329. Jesus answered,

  330. You would have

  331. no power

  332. over me

  333. if it were not

  334. given to you

  335. from above.

  336. Therefore,

  337. the one who handed

  338. me over to you

  339. is guilty

  340. of a greater sin.

  341. We see how

  342. Pilate was terrified

  343. of sending Jesus

  344. to be killed.

  345. Knowing the stories

  346. of Jesus' miracles,

  347. Pilate did not doubt

  348. that Jesus could call down

  349. unforeseen forces

  350. to protect himself.

  351. As you read

  352. these last few verses,

  353. the crowd

  354. that had a week earlier,

  355. Palm Sunday,

  356. had laid palm trees

  357. down for Christ

  358. to come into Jerusalem.

  359. We're now rejecting him

  360. because he did not

  361. weaned

  362. an armed insurrection

  363. against the hated

  364. conquering Jews,

  365. or Romans,

  366. against the Romans.

  367. Jesus is seen

  368. as captured

  369. on trial

  370. and defeated,

  371. not the mighty

  372. general

  373. to lead the country

  374. into a miraculous

  375. victory.

  376. They instead

  377. were being cajoled

  378. by the Sanhedrin

  379. to ask for

  380. Barnabas' release.

  381. This was the lowest

  382. blow to Jesus,

  383. rejection

  384. by the people.

  385. John 19,

  386. 1-3

  387. describes

  388. the flogging

  389. of Jesus.

  390. Then Pilate

  391. took Jesus

  392. and had him

  393. flogged.

  394. The soldiers

  395. twisted together

  396. a crown of thorns,

  397. put it on his head.

  398. They clothed him

  399. in a purple robe

  400. and went up to him

  401. again and again

  402. saying,

  403. O Christ,

  404. or O King

  405. of the Jews.

  406. And they struck

  407. him in the face.

  408. So,

  409. Jesus was flogged.

  410. And not just

  411. flogged,

  412. he was beat

  413. within an inch

  414. of his life.

  415. This was a Roman

  416. soldier's

  417. great revenge.

  418. Jewish.

  419. They hated

  420. the Jews

  421. who were never

  422. a submissive people.

  423. There was a constant

  424. guerrilla war

  425. going on

  426. with individual

  427. Romans

  428. being killed

  429. whenever possible.

  430. The Jews felt

  431. they could win

  432. a rebellion

  433. with the right

  434. leader against

  435. the Romans

  436. like their ancestors

  437. had against

  438. the Greeks

  439. during the

  440. Maccabean Revolt

  441. which was about

  442. 150 years earlier.

  443. From the conquest

  444. of Nebuchadnezzar

  445. till May 14,

  446. 1948,

  447. Israel,

  448. 2,600 years.

  449. Israel

  450. was not a nation.

  451. Though they

  452. remained God's

  453. chosen people,

  454. they were always

  455. conquered.

  456. They were,

  457. if it wasn't

  458. the Romans,

  459. the Greeks,

  460. Babylonians,

  461. the Assyrians,

  462. it was the Turks

  463. in the latter days.

  464. England

  465. was their

  466. control of them

  467. in the 1900s.

  468. So you see,

  469. they were never

  470. a nation

  471. until May 14,

  472. 1948.

  473. Though they

  474. remained

  475. God's

  476. chosen people.

  477. Just keep

  478. watching

  479. for things,

  480. for the miracles

  481. God will perform

  482. in Israel.

  483. Matthew 24,

  484. 1-2.

  485. Matthew,

  486. Mark.

  487. Just a week

  488. before Jesus

  489. prophesied about

  490. such a revolt

  491. and

  492. Jesus was,

  493. Jesus left

  494. the temple

  495. and was

  496. walking down,

  497. walking away

  498. when his disciples

  499. came to him

  500. calling his attention

  501. to its building.

  502. Do you see

  503. these things?

  504. He said,

  505. I tell you the truth,

  506. not one stone here

  507. will be left on another.

  508. Each,

  509. every one

  510. will be thrown down.

  511. So Christ

  512. was prophesying

  513. that the temple,

  514. which was a

  515. magnificent building,

  516. built of huge stones

  517. would be thrown down

  518. and not one stone

  519. left on one another.

  520. And in A.D. 70,

  521. about 40 years

  522. after Christ's

  523. crucifixion,

  524. the Jews rebelled

  525. and the Roman soldiers

  526. burnt the temple,

  527. melting the gold

  528. that lined

  529. the interior.

  530. The Romans destroyed

  531. the temple

  532. for the gold

  533. and then deported

  534. many Jews

  535. to other countries.

  536. Matthew 27,

  537. 45,

  538. and 46.

  539. These are the

  540. hardest words

  541. Jesus ever spoke.

  542. From the sixth hour

  543. until the ninth hour,

  544. darkness came

  545. over all the land.

  546. About the ninth hour,

  547. Jesus cried out

  548. in a loud voice,

  549. Eloi, Eloi,

  550. lama shabakani,

  551. which means,

  552. my God,

  553. my God,

  554. why have you

  555. forsaken me?

  556. Amen.

  557. Amen.

  558. Corinthians,

  559. we'll go to

  560. Corinthians,

  561. chapter 5.

  562. And,

  563. it explains

  564. why.

  565. Corinthians 5,

  566. 21.

  567. So that,

  568. just as sin

  569. reigned in death,

  570. so also grace

  571. might reign

  572. through righteousness

  573. to bring eternal life

  574. through Christ Jesus,

  575. our Lord.

  576. God made him

  577. who had no sin

  578. to be sin for us,

  579. so that in him

  580. we might become

  581. the righteousness

  582. of God.

  583. Jesus took our sins,

  584. the factor that

  585. separates us

  586. from fellowship

  587. with God.

  588. At this point

  589. in time,

  590. God turned his

  591. back on Jesus.

  592. That was the

  593. hardest thing.

  594. God turned

  595. his back.

  596. Luke,

  597. 23,

  598. 44,

  599. and 45.

  600. In about

  601. the ninth hour,

  602. darkness came

  603. over the whole

  604. land until

  605. the ninth hour.

  606. For the sun

  607. stopped shining

  608. and the curtain

  609. of the temple

  610. was torn in two.

  611. Jesus called out

  612. in a loud voice,

  613. Father,

  614. into your hands

  615. I committed

  616. my spirits.

  617. When he had said

  618. this,

  619. he breathed his last.

  620. This was his

  621. defeat

  622. on the cross.

  623. This is a story

  624. with a truly

  625. horrible

  626. ending.

  627. ending.

  628. If

  629. this

  630. was

  631. the ending.

  632. To understand

  633. these events,

  634. we need to look

  635. at them in context

  636. of the Old Testament.

  637. It is not by chance

  638. that Jesus was

  639. crucified

  640. just before

  641. the Passover.

  642. This is a

  643. solemn time

  644. remembering how

  645. each individual

  646. was protected

  647. from having

  648. the firstborn

  649. family member

  650. die.

  651. Without the blood

  652. of the Lamb,

  653. nothing could be

  654. protected.

  655. Let's go way

  656. back into Exodus.

  657. You have to

  658. understand

  659. what was

  660. happening

  661. at this time

  662. and why

  663. this was

  664. important to

  665. have the

  666. crucifixion

  667. at this exact

  668. time.

  669. Exodus 12.

  670. The Lord

  671. said to Moses

  672. and Aaron

  673. in Egypt,

  674. this month

  675. is to be

  676. for you,

  677. the first

  678. month,

  679. the first

  680. month of

  681. your year.

  682. Tell the

  683. whole community

  684. of Israel

  685. that on the

  686. tenth month

  687. of this

  688. month,

  689. each man

  690. is to

  691. take a

  692. lamb for

  693. his family,

  694. one for

  695. each household.

  696. If any

  697. household is

  698. too small

  699. for a

  700. whole lamb,

  701. they must

  702. share one

  703. with his

  704. nearest neighbor.

  705. Having taken

  706. into account

  707. the number

  708. of people

  709. there are,

  710. you are to

  711. determine the

  712. amount of

  713. lamb needed

  714. in accordance

  715. with what

  716. each person

  717. will eat.

  718. The animals

  719. you choose

  720. must be a

  721. firstborn male

  722. without defect

  723. and you may

  724. take them

  725. with the sheep

  726. or the goats.

  727. Take care of

  728. them until

  729. the fourteenth

  730. day of

  731. the month

  732. when all

  733. the people

  734. of the

  735. community

  736. of Israel

  737. must slaughter

  738. them at

  739. twilight.

  740. The very

  741. exact way

  742. of doing

  743. things.

  744. Then they

  745. are to take

  746. some of

  747. the blood,

  748. put it on

  749. the sides

  750. and top

  751. of the

  752. door frames

  753. of their

  754. homes where

  755. they eat

  756. the lambs.

  757. Then that

  758. same night

  759. they are to

  760. eat the meat

  761. roasted over

  762. the fire

  763. along with

  764. bitter herbs

  765. and bread

  766. made without

  767. yeast.

  768. Do not

  769. eat the

  770. meat raw

  771. or cooked

  772. in water

  773. but roasted

  774. over the

  775. fire,

  776. head,

  777. legs,

  778. inner parts.

  779. Do not

  780. leave any

  781. till morning.

  782. If some

  783. is left

  784. till morning

  785. you must

  786. burn it.

  787. This is

  788. how you

  789. eat it

  790. with your

  791. cloak

  792. tucked into

  793. your belt,

  794. your sandals

  795. on your feet

  796. and your

  797. staff in

  798. your hand.

  799. Eat it

  800. in haste.

  801. It is

  802. the Lord's

  803. Passover.

  804. This is

  805. the scary

  806. part.

  807. On the

  808. same night

  809. I will

  810. pass through

  811. Egypt and

  812. strike down

  813. every firstborn,

  814. both men

  815. and animals,

  816. and I will

  817. bring judgment

  818. on all the

  819. gods of

  820. Egypt.

  821. I am

  822. the Lord.

  823. The blood

  824. will be a

  825. sign for you

  826. on the

  827. houses where

  828. you are.

  829. When I see

  830. the blood

  831. I will

  832. pass over

  833. you.

  834. No

  835. destructive

  836. plague

  837. will touch

  838. you when

  839. I strike

  840. Egypt.

  841. So this

  842. is the

  843. Passover.

  844. This is

  845. the reason

  846. that this

  847. date was

  848. extremely

  849. important.

  850. The significance

  851. to the Jews

  852. was never

  853. lost.

  854. It was

  855. the blood.

  856. But what's

  857. significant

  858. about the

  859. blood?

  860. Go to

  861. Leviticus

    Leviticus 17:11

  862. chapter 17

  863. verse 11.

  864. This explains

  865. a lot.

  866. For the

  867. life of a

  868. creature is

  869. in the

  870. blood,

  871. and I

  872. have given

  873. it to

  874. you to

  875. make atonement

  876. for yourselves

  877. on the

  878. altar.

  879. It is

  880. the blood

  881. that makes

  882. atonement

  883. for one's

  884. life.

  885. Therefore

  886. I say

  887. to the

  888. Israelites,

  889. none of

  890. you may

  891. eat

  892. blood,

  893. nor may

  894. the alien

  895. living among

  896. you eat

  897. blood.

  898. So it

  899. is the

  900. blood that

  901. makes atonement

  902. on the

  903. altar.

  904. So it

  905. is the

  906. blood that

  907. makes atonement

  908. on the altar.

  909. Back to

  910. Luke.

  911. Luke 23.

  912. Luke 23.

  913. 44 to

  914. 46.

  915. Again, I

  916. read these

  917. verses.

  918. It was

  919. now the

  920. sixth hour,

  921. and the

  922. darkness came

  923. over the

  924. whole land

  925. until the

  926. ninth hour.

  927. For the

  928. sun stopped

  929. shining, and

  930. the curtain

  931. of the

  932. temple was

  933. torn in

  934. two.

  935. Jesus

  936. cried out

  937. in a

  938. loud voice,

  939. Father,

  940. into your

  941. hands I

  942. commit my

  943. spirit.

  944. When he

  945. had said

  946. this, he

  947. breathed

  948. his last.

  949. the

  950. absolute

  951. second,

  952. Jesus

  953. died.

  954. The

  955. sacrificial's

  956. lamb blood

  957. paid for

  958. all the

  959. sins of

  960. all who

  961. believe in

  962. him.

  963. Only the

  964. high, before

  965. this, in

  966. the Old

  967. Testament

  968. times, only

  969. the high

  970. priest could

  971. go behind

  972. the curtain

  973. once a

  974. year to

  975. offer blood

  976. on the

  977. Ark of

  978. the

  979. Covenant.

  980. And because

  981. of this,

  982. because the

  983. curtain is

  984. ripped,

  985. ripped in

  986. two, now

  987. we have

  988. the direct

  989. access to

  990. God.

  991. Not needing

  992. a priest to

  993. offer sacrifices

  994. on our

  995. behalf.

  996. The Holy

  997. Spirit is

  998. now with

  999. us at

  1000. all times.

  1001. Jesus

  1002. fulfilled the

  1003. requirements of

  1004. the Levitical

  1005. law.

  1006. So he

  1007. filled that.

  1008. He did

  1009. all the

  1010. things that

  1011. were necessary

  1012. for the

  1013. people to

  1014. have true

  1015. fellowship with

  1016. God.

  1017. To understand

  1018. how

  1019. the blood

  1020. of Jesus

  1021. saves us,

  1022. we need

  1023. to define

  1024. who Jesus

  1025. is.

  1026. Was he

  1027. a nice

  1028. guy, a

  1029. good teacher,

  1030. or the

  1031. mighty God

  1032. creator and

  1033. judge?

  1034. Genesis

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  1035. chapter 1

  1036. declares how

  1037. God created

  1038. the world

  1039. in six

  1040. days.

  1041. Incredibly,

  1042. science proves

  1043. creation because

  1044. of the complexity

  1045. of life.

  1046. Paleontologists

  1047. find pliable

  1048. bone marrow in

  1049. dinosaur bones.

  1050. You know,

  1051. how can

  1052. something 69

  1053. million years

  1054. old still

  1055. have pliable

  1056. bone marrow?

  1057. The James

  1058. Webb telescope

  1059. debunked the

  1060. Big Bang

  1061. theory just

  1062. lately,

  1063. within the

  1064. last year.

  1065. The

  1066. farthest

  1067. galaxies are

  1068. too mature

  1069. for the Big

  1070. Bang theory to

  1071. hold any

  1072. validity.

  1073. Geology over

  1074. all the world

  1075. proves Noah's

  1076. flood.

  1077. Thousand

  1078. layer,

  1079. foot layers

  1080. of mud,

  1081. many of them,

  1082. one on top of

  1083. the other,

  1084. and finding

  1085. trees and bones

  1086. in certain

  1087. layers,

  1088. this proves

  1089. that things

  1090. happen very,

  1091. very fast.

  1092. This flood

  1093. happened very

  1094. fast.

  1095. Let's go to

  1096. Colossians

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  1097. chapter 1,

  1098. 15 to 20.

  1099. This is Christ.

  1100. This is the

  1101. definition of

  1102. Christ.

  1103. Colossians.

  1104. He is the

  1105. image of the

  1106. invisible God,

  1107. the firstborn

  1108. over all

  1109. creation.

  1110. For by him

  1111. all things

  1112. were created,

  1113. things in

  1114. heaven and

  1115. on earth,

  1116. visible and

  1117. invisible,

  1118. whether thrones

  1119. or powers,

  1120. or rulers

  1121. or authorities,

  1122. all things

  1123. were created

  1124. by him

  1125. and for

  1126. him.

  1127. He is

  1128. before all

  1129. things,

  1130. and in

  1131. him all

  1132. things hold

  1133. together.

  1134. And he is

  1135. the head of

  1136. the body,

  1137. the church.

  1138. He is the

  1139. beginning and

  1140. the firstborn

  1141. from among

  1142. the dead,

  1143. so that in

  1144. everything he

  1145. might have

  1146. supremacy.

  1147. For God was

  1148. pleased to have

  1149. all his

  1150. fullness dwell

  1151. in him,

  1152. and through

  1153. him to

  1154. reconcile to

  1155. himself all

  1156. things,

  1157. whether things

  1158. on earth

  1159. or things

  1160. in heaven,

  1161. by making

  1162. peace through

  1163. his blood

  1164. shed on

  1165. the cross.

  1166. Jesus is

  1167. the creator

  1168. of all

  1169. things,

  1170. material and

  1171. government.

  1172. He holds

  1173. all things

  1174. together.

  1175. Firstborn

  1176. from the

  1177. dead,

  1178. he alone,

  1179. alone is

  1180. able to

  1181. reconcile

  1182. everything

  1183. through his

  1184. shed blood.

  1185. If Jesus

  1186. had remained

  1187. in the tomb,

  1188. it would

  1189. have been a

  1190. victory for

  1191. Satan.

  1192. After being

  1193. deceived by

  1194. Satan,

  1195. Eve and

  1196. Adam chose

  1197. to disobey

  1198. God, the

  1199. Lord made

  1200. a prophetic

  1201. judgment.

  1202. Genesis 3,

  1203. 15,

  1204. And I will

  1205. put enmity

  1206. between you

  1207. and the

  1208. woman,

  1209. between your

  1210. offspring and

  1211. hers.

  1212. He will

  1213. crush your

  1214. head, and

  1215. you will

  1216. strike his

  1217. heel.

  1218. Indeed,

  1219. Satan had

  1220. struck Jesus'

  1221. heel.

  1222. Christ died.

  1223. Jesus was

  1224. elated.

  1225. Luke 24,

  1226. 5 to

  1227. 8.

  1228. In their

  1229. fright, the

  1230. women bowed

  1231. down with

  1232. their faces to

  1233. the ground,

  1234. but the men

  1235. said to them,

  1236. Why do you

  1237. look for the

  1238. living among

  1239. the dead?

  1240. He is not

  1241. here.

  1242. He has

  1243. risen.

  1244. Remember how

  1245. he told you

  1246. while you were

  1247. still in Galilee,

  1248. the Son of

  1249. Man must be

  1250. delivered into

  1251. the hands of

  1252. sinful man to

  1253. be crucified,

  1254. and on the

  1255. third day be

  1256. raised again.

  1257. Then they

  1258. remembered these

  1259. words.

  1260. This is the

  1261. most amazing

  1262. statement.

  1263. He is not

  1264. dead.

  1265. He is risen.

  1266. That's for

  1267. Satan.

  1268. He is

  1269. defeated.

  1270. Satan doesn't

  1271. know things.

  1272. If Satan

  1273. would have

  1274. had his

  1275. way, he

  1276. would have

  1277. had mattresses

  1278. surrounding

  1279. Jesus so

  1280. that Jesus

  1281. died an

  1282. old man's

  1283. death, not

  1284. the death on

  1285. a cross,

  1286. because it

  1287. was his

  1288. blood that

  1289. is the

  1290. sanctification.

  1291. Once we

  1292. realize this,

  1293. what do we

  1294. do with it?

  1295. What do we

  1296. do with this

  1297. knowledge?

  1298. The New

  1299. Testament gives

  1300. us instructions

  1301. on how to

  1302. receive eternal

  1303. life and

  1304. live with God

  1305. in heaven through

  1306. the bloodshed and

  1307. rebirth of

  1308. Jesus.

  1309. John chapter

    John 14 chapter mention

  1310. 14, 6-8.

  1311. Jesus answered,

  1312. I am the

  1313. way, the

  1314. truth, and the

  1315. life.

  1316. No one comes

  1317. to the Father

  1318. except through

  1319. me.

  1320. If you

  1321. really knew

  1322. me, you

  1323. would know

  1324. my Father

  1325. as well.

  1326. From now

  1327. on, you

  1328. do know

  1329. him and

  1330. have seen

  1331. him.

  1332. Jesus made

  1333. it clear that

  1334. the only way

  1335. through him

  1336. is the only

  1337. way is through

  1338. him that we

  1339. can know

  1340. God.

  1341. No one and

  1342. nothing else

  1343. can be a way

  1344. to know

  1345. God.

  1346. 1 Peter 1,

  1347. 17-21.

  1348. You have

  1349. called on a

  1350. Father who

  1351. judges each

  1352. man's work

  1353. impartially.

  1354. Live your

  1355. lives as

  1356. strangers here

  1357. in reverent

  1358. fear, for

  1359. you know that

  1360. it was not

  1361. with perishable

  1362. things such as

  1363. silver or gold

  1364. that you were

  1365. redeemed from

  1366. the empty

  1367. way of life

  1368. handed down

  1369. to you from

  1370. your forefathers,

  1371. but with the

  1372. precious blood

  1373. of Christ, a

  1374. lamb without

  1375. blemish or

  1376. defect.

  1377. He was chosen

  1378. before the

  1379. creation of the

  1380. world, but was

  1381. revealed in these

  1382. last times for

  1383. your sake.

  1384. Through him you

  1385. believe in God

  1386. who raised him

  1387. from the dead

  1388. and glorified him,

  1389. so your faith and

  1390. hope are in God.

  1391. God, we

  1392. cannot buy our

  1393. way out of

  1394. God's judgment.

  1395. The God who

  1396. created every

  1397. galaxy in the

  1398. universe has no

  1399. use for a few

  1400. dollars.

  1401. Even billions

  1402. mean nothing to

  1403. God.

  1404. Nothing we do

  1405. is good enough

  1406. for God.

  1407. If our own

  1408. efforts were

  1409. not perfect,

  1410. absolutely

  1411. perfect, they

  1412. are filthy

  1413. rags to

  1414. God.

  1415. None of us

  1416. can ever do

  1417. anything that's

  1418. perfect.

  1419. Romans

    Romans 3 chapter mention

  1420. chapter 3

  1421. 21 to

  1422. 25

  1423. Now our

  1424. righteousness

  1425. from God

  1426. apart from

  1427. law has been

  1428. made known

  1429. to which the

  1430. law and the

  1431. prophets testify.

  1432. This

  1433. righteousness

  1434. from God

  1435. comes through

  1436. faith in

  1437. Jesus Christ

  1438. to all who

  1439. believe.

  1440. There is no

  1441. difference, for

  1442. all have sinned

  1443. and fall short

  1444. of the glory of

  1445. God and are

  1446. justified freely

  1447. by his grace

  1448. through the

  1449. redemption that

  1450. came by

  1451. Jesus.

  1452. All have

  1453. sinned and

  1454. fall short of

  1455. the glory of

  1456. God.

  1457. God.

  1458. There is

  1459. nobody in

  1460. this whole

  1461. world except

  1462. for Christ

  1463. that has

  1464. ever not

  1465. been a

  1466. sinner.

  1467. Romans

  1468. 6

  1469. 23.

  1470. 6 19

  1471. to 23.

  1472. I put this

  1473. in human

  1474. terms because

  1475. you are weak

  1476. in your

  1477. natural

  1478. cells.

  1479. Just as you

  1480. used to offer

  1481. the parts of

  1482. your bodies

  1483. in slavery

  1484. or impartiality

  1485. and purity

  1486. and to every

  1487. increasing wickedness,

  1488. so now offer

  1489. them in slavery

  1490. to righteousness

  1491. leading to

  1492. holiness.

  1493. When you were

  1494. slaves to sin,

  1495. you were free

  1496. from the control

  1497. of righteousness.

  1498. What benefit

  1499. did you reap

  1500. at that time

  1501. from the things

  1502. you are now

  1503. ashamed of?

  1504. those things

  1505. result in

  1506. death.

  1507. But now you

  1508. have been set

  1509. free from sin

  1510. and have become

  1511. slaves to God.

  1512. The benefit

  1513. you reap

  1514. leads to holiness

  1515. and the result

  1516. is eternal life.

  1517. For the wages

  1518. of sin

  1519. is death,

  1520. but the gift

  1521. of God

  1522. is eternal

  1523. life in Christ

  1524. Jesus our

  1525. Lord.

  1526. God pays

  1527. fairly.

  1528. Eternal

  1529. death.

  1530. Can you

  1531. imagine that?

  1532. Eternal

  1533. separation

  1534. from God,

  1535. eternal judgment,

  1536. but also God

  1537. gives freely.

  1538. The gift

  1539. is free,

  1540. you earn

  1541. no right

  1542. to go to

  1543. hell.

  1544. Eternal

  1545. life

  1546. through faith.

  1547. Ephesians

  1548. 2,

  1549. 8,

  1550. and 9

  1551. is

  1552. a powerful

  1553. verses

  1554. that really

  1555. explain

  1556. what we

  1557. have.

  1558. For it

  1559. is by grace

  1560. you have

  1561. been saved.

  1562. Through faith

  1563. in this not

  1564. from yourselves,

  1565. it is the

  1566. gift of God.

  1567. Not by works

  1568. so that no

  1569. one can boast.

  1570. We are God's

  1571. workmanship

  1572. created in

  1573. Christ Jesus

  1574. to do good

  1575. works,

  1576. which God

  1577. prepared in

  1578. advance for

  1579. us to do.

  1580. God's

  1581. grace.

  1582. He didn't

  1583. annihilate

  1584. Adam and

  1585. Eve.

  1586. He didn't

  1587. destroy Noah.

  1588. He doesn't

  1589. come down

  1590. and say

  1591. the first

  1592. time you

  1593. sin you're

  1594. dead.

  1595. It is

  1596. God's grace

  1597. that you've

  1598. been saved

  1599. and it's

  1600. only through

  1601. faith.

  1602. We must

  1603. believe in

  1604. him.

  1605. We don't

  1606. earn this.

  1607. Nothing

  1608. we can do

  1609. can get us

  1610. to heaven.

  1611. It's

  1612. because of

  1613. God's

  1614. grace and

  1615. our faith.

  1616. And this

  1617. is not

  1618. from us.

  1619. It is

  1620. from God.

  1621. A gift

  1622. of God.

  1623. And not

  1624. anything we

  1625. can do.

  1626. Not by

  1627. works so

  1628. that no

  1629. one can

  1630. boast.

  1631. Clearly,

  1632. if we don't

  1633. earn or pay

  1634. for eternal

  1635. life with

  1636. God in

  1637. heaven,

  1638. Christ's

  1639. blood

  1640. paid for

  1641. eternal

  1642. life.

  1643. 2 Corinthians

  1644. 7, 10

  1645. and 11.

  1646. Lifetime of

  1647. repentance.

  1648. Godly sorrow

  1649. brings repentance

  1650. that leads to

  1651. salvation and

  1652. leaves no

  1653. regret.

  1654. But worldly

  1655. sorrow brings

  1656. death.

  1657. See what

  1658. this godly

  1659. sorrow has

  1660. produced in

  1661. you.

  1662. What earnestness,

  1663. what eagerness

  1664. to clear

  1665. yourselves,

  1666. what indignation,

  1667. what alarm,

  1668. what longing,

  1669. what concern,

  1670. what readiness

  1671. to see justice

  1672. done.

  1673. At every point,

  1674. you have proved

  1675. yourself to be

  1676. innocent in this

  1677. matter.

  1678. So we must

  1679. judge ourselves.

  1680. Once we have

  1681. salvation in

  1682. Christ, we look

  1683. at ourselves.

  1684. It's not just,

  1685. well, now I've

  1686. said a few

  1687. words and I'm

  1688. going to

  1689. heaven.

  1690. It's a lifetime

  1691. of repentance,

  1692. judging ourselves

  1693. and living a life

  1694. honoring God.

  1695. Forgiveness is

  1696. not achieved by

  1697. saying a few

  1698. words, asking

  1699. for forgiveness

  1700. and then going

  1701. on an unrepentant

  1702. life.

  1703. One of the

  1704. most well-known

  1705. verses in the

  1706. Bible, John 3.16,

  1707. but not just 3.16,

  1708. 3.16, 17,

  1709. and 18.

  1710. For God so

  1711. loved the world

  1712. that he gave

  1713. us one and

  1714. only Son,

  1715. that whoever

  1716. believes in

  1717. him should

  1718. not perish,

  1719. but have

  1720. eternal life.

  1721. For God

  1722. did not send

  1723. his Son into

  1724. the world

  1725. to condemn

  1726. the world,

  1727. but to save

  1728. the world

  1729. through him.

  1730. This is the

  1731. hard part.

  1732. whoever believes

  1733. in him

  1734. is not

  1735. condemned,

  1736. but whoever

  1737. does not

  1738. believe stands

  1739. condemned already

  1740. because he has

  1741. not believed in

  1742. the name of

  1743. the God's

  1744. one and only

  1745. Son.

  1746. It's very

  1747. clear.

  1748. If you don't

  1749. believe in the

  1750. redemption of

  1751. Christ and his

  1752. one and only

  1753. Son, then there

  1754. is eternal

  1755. punishment.

  1756. We are

  1757. condemned.

  1758. what happened

  1759. to Jesus?

  1760. If he is not

  1761. in the grave,

  1762. then where?

  1763. Revelation

    Revelation 5 chapter mention

  1764. chapter 5.

  1765. Chapter

  1766. verse 6.

  1767. Then I saw

  1768. a lamb

  1769. standing as

  1770. if it had

  1771. been slain,

  1772. standing in

  1773. the center

  1774. of the throne,

  1775. encircled

  1776. by the

  1777. four living

  1778. creatures

  1779. and the

  1780. elders.

  1781. He had

  1782. seven horns

  1783. and seven

  1784. eyes,

  1785. which are

  1786. the seven

  1787. spirits of

  1788. God,

  1789. came out

  1790. onto all

  1791. the earth.

  1792. And 11

  1793. to

  1794. 14.

  1795. Then I

  1796. looked and

  1797. heard the

  1798. voice of

  1799. many angels

  1800. numbering

  1801. thousands

  1802. upon

  1803. thousands

  1804. and ten

  1805. thousand

  1806. times ten

  1807. thousand.

  1808. They

  1809. encircled

  1810. the throne

  1811. and the

  1812. living

  1813. creatures

  1814. and the

  1815. elders.

  1816. In a

  1817. loud voice

  1818. they sang,

  1819. Worthy

  1820. is the

  1821. lamb

  1822. who was

  1823. slain.

  1824. To

  1825. receive

  1826. power

  1827. and wealth,

  1828. wisdom

  1829. and strength,

  1830. honor and

  1831. glory and

  1832. praise.

  1833. Then I

  1834. heard every

  1835. creature in

  1836. heaven and

  1837. on earth and

  1838. under the

  1839. earth and

  1840. in the sea

  1841. and all

  1842. that in them

  1843. singing,

  1844. to him who

  1845. sits on the

  1846. throne and

  1847. to the

  1848. lamb,

  1849. be praise

  1850. and honor

  1851. and glory

  1852. and power

  1853. forever.

  1854. forever.

  1855. So that's

  1856. where Christ

  1857. is.

  1858. He's

  1859. receiving

  1860. these

  1861. accolades

  1862. and it'll

  1863. be forever.

  1864. Revelation

    Revelation 20:10

  1865. 20

  1866. verse 10

  1867. And the

  1868. devil

  1869. who deceived

  1870. them was

  1871. thrown into

  1872. the lake

  1873. of burning

  1874. sulfur,

  1875. where the

  1876. beast and

  1877. the false

  1878. prophets

  1879. have been

  1880. thrown.

  1881. They will

  1882. be tormented

  1883. day and

  1884. night,

  1885. forever

  1886. and ever.

  1887. This is

  1888. Satan.

  1889. This is

  1890. the devil.

  1891. Satan is

  1892. doomed to

  1893. hell.

  1894. This is

  1895. the crushed

  1896. head described

  1897. in Genesis.

  1898. He has no

  1899. hope.

  1900. He never

  1901. has hope.

  1902. He rebelled

  1903. and this is

  1904. his judgment.

  1905. But we

  1906. read Revelation

  1907. 21, 6

  1908. to 8.

  1909. He said

  1910. to me,

  1911. it is

  1912. done.

  1913. I am

  1914. the Alpha

  1915. and the Omega,

  1916. the beginning

  1917. and the end.

  1918. That's

  1919. Jesus.

  1920. To him

  1921. who is

  1922. thirsty,

  1923. I give

  1924. him the

  1925. drink

  1926. without

  1927. cost

  1928. from the

  1929. spring

  1930. of the

  1931. water

  1932. of life.

  1933. He

  1934. who

  1935. overcomes

  1936. will

  1937. inherit

  1938. all this

  1939. and I

  1940. will be

  1941. his

  1942. God

  1943. and he

  1944. will

  1945. be

  1946. my

  1947. son.

  1948. But

  1949. the

  1950. cowardly,

  1951. the

  1952. unbelieving,

  1953. the

  1954. vile,

  1955. the

  1956. murderers,

  1957. the sexually

  1958. immoral,

  1959. those who

  1960. practice

  1961. magic arts,

  1962. the

  1963. idolaters,

  1964. and all

  1965. liars,

  1966. their place

  1967. will be in

  1968. the fiery

  1969. lake of

  1970. burning

  1971. sulfur.

  1972. This is

  1973. the second

  1974. death.

  1975. it is

  1976. clear

  1977. that

  1978. those who

  1979. don't ask

  1980. for eternal

  1981. forgiveness

  1982. are doomed

  1983. to

  1984. eternally

  1985. spend

  1986. the rest

  1987. of eternity

  1988. and it's

  1989. not really

  1990. called life

  1991. but they

  1992. will spend

  1993. eternity

  1994. in a

  1995. sulfur

  1996. pit.

  1997. Burning

  1998. sulfur.

  1999. You cannot

  2000. imagine

  2001. how horrible

  2002. that will

  2003. be.

  2004. And that's

  2005. why it's

  2006. so important

  2007. to accept

  2008. Christ,

  2009. to acknowledge

  2010. that he

  2011. died on

  2012. the cross.

  2013. When

  2014. Christ

  2015. cried out

  2016. to God

  2017. on the

  2018. cross,

  2019. my God,

  2020. my God,

  2021. why have

  2022. you forsaken

  2023. me?

  2024. This is the

  2025. punishment he

  2026. endured on

  2027. the cross

  2028. instead of

  2029. us.

  2030. He

  2031. paid for

  2032. that,

  2033. that we

  2034. don't have

  2035. to go

  2036. to hell.

  2037. The last

  2038. two chapters

  2039. of Revelation

  2040. tell the

  2041. beautiful story

  2042. of heaven,

  2043. our eternal

  2044. relationship

  2045. with other

  2046. believers,

  2047. and the

  2048. most beautiful

  2049. and eternal

  2050. relationship

  2051. with the

  2052. Lamb of

  2053. God.

  2054. Why is

  2055. today called

  2056. Good Friday

  2057. and not

  2058. Horrible Friday?

  2059. This is the

  2060. good news,

  2061. the gospel

  2062. story.

  2063. We are

  2064. sinners

  2065. separated

  2066. from God,

  2067. doomed to

  2068. eternal

  2069. punishment,

  2070. but a

  2071. loving Christ

  2072. will take

  2073. that punishment

  2074. in our

  2075. place if,

  2076. that's a

  2077. big if,

  2078. we repent

  2079. and believe

  2080. in him.

  2081. No one

  2082. is forced

  2083. to believe

  2084. in Christ,

  2085. but everyone

  2086. is given

  2087. the option

  2088. to believe.

  2089. Thank you.

  2090. кто to acknowledge

  2091. minutes

  2092. to finish
