  1. Fake news. Who's heard of fake news? We've all heard of fake news. It's the intentional spinning or misinforming of people using news outlets and social media. It's really just kind of a propaganda deal.

  2. In 2016, there was this whopper fake news headline. This is what it was. Obama signs executive order banning the pledge of allegiance in schools nationwide. According to BuzzFeed, there was about 2.2 million people on Facebook that shared it, commented, and reacted to it.

  3. But factcheck.org revealed that it was not true. That the site that sent it out was a satirical news site that was kind of pretending to be ABC News. Fake news. False news.

  4. You know, we live in a time where skepticism is on the rise. There are headlines in your news feed that you see them on TV and one of the questions you first ask is, is that real? Is it true? Can I buy this?

  5. Today, all across our nation and the world, there is a headline on church marquees, on web pages. It's even in your bulletin this morning. Here's the headline.

  6. He is risen. The question I want to ask this morning is, is that fake news or is that real news?

  7. He is risen. He is risen. If it's fake news, it's a bunch of hogwash and you reject it. But if it's real news, if it's true, it's good news. And not only should you accept it, you should commit yourself to it.

  8. So this morning, we're going to ask the question, is the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead?

  9. Is that spin? Is that fake news? Is that misinformation?

  10. Or is that real, true, and accurate news? And depending on how you answer that, there will be some significant implications.

  11. So this morning, I want to walk with you through a biblical account.

  12. I want to clarify the biblical account of the resurrection of Jesus so we all know what the news is.

  13. And then I want to help you to consider the claim that that little passage is making.

  14. It is a phenomenal claim.

  15. And then let's chew on the implications together and then I'm going to call you to choose to make a commitment.

  16. He is risen.

  17. Fake news or real news?

  18. So in order to clarify the biblical account, I need you to open up your Bibles.

  19. So if you would open up your Bibles to Matthew 28, here's how your Bible works.

  20. There are basically two sections of your Bible.

  21. There's the Old Testament, which describes God's gracious relationship with His people before Jesus.

  22. And then there's the New Testament, which describes God's gracious relationship with His new people after Jesus,

  23. anticipating the second coming of Jesus.

  24. So there's two sections of your Bible.

  25. Your Bible's broken into books.

  26. There's 66 books.

  27. And one book is then broken into chapters.

  28. Those chapters are further broken down to verses.

  29. And it's all helped you to find your way around the Bible.

  30. And so if you would open up to your New Testament, it's the first book of your New Testament.

  31. It's the Gospel of Matthew.

  32. And I want you to turn to the last chapter of Matthew, Matthew chapter 28.

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  33. And we're going to look at verses 1 through 10.

  34. Dave read them earlier.

  35. And what we're going to do is basically walk through the biblical account so we're all on the same page of what the Bible says.

  36. But before we get to Matthew 28, let me just give you a little background.

  37. What happens in Matthew 28, 1 through 10, happens on a Sunday, the first day of the week.

  38. But there's some really important things that happened that Thursday and Friday leading up to the first Easter.

  39. In Matthew 26 and 27, Jesus is arrested.

  40. And he's brought to trial.

  41. And he goes before two groups of people.

  42. He goes before a bunch of Jews called the Sanhedrin.

  43. And they find him guilty of blasphemy.

  44. They send him to Pilate.

  45. Pilate was the Roman authority who had the authority to put someone to death.

  46. And there was all sorts of pressure put on Pilate to crucify Jesus.

  47. He capitulates, washes his hands, hands him over to the guards and says, crucify him.

  48. The guards take him.

  49. They mock him.

  50. And eventually, they lead him to Golgotha, the place of the skull, which is known as Calvary, where they crucify him.

  51. It's a brutal way to die.

  52. And while he's being crucified, he's being mocked.

  53. And after about 3 p.m. Good Friday afternoon, he breathes his last and yields up his spirit.

  54. And there's amazing things happen.

  55. There's an earthquake, among other things.

  56. And then, Joseph of Arimathea requests from Pilate, hey, I'll take his body.

  57. I'll bury him in my tomb.

  58. The new tomb that it meant for me.

  59. I'm going to put Jesus in it.

  60. Do you know who was there?

  61. Where Mary Magdalene and this other Mary, the two Marys, were there watching where the body of Jesus was placed.

  62. You can see that in Matthew 27, 61.

  63. So that happened all on Friday.

  64. Saturday comes around, and the Jewish establishment goes to Pilate, and he says,

  65. hey, can you give us a Roman guard, please?

  66. We want to guard the tomb.

  67. Why?

  68. Why?

  69. They weren't afraid that, they didn't think that Jesus would be raised from the dead.

  70. They were thinking that the disciples would steal the body in order to do a little fake news spin of their own.

  71. And so Pilate says, you've got your own guard from the temple.

  72. You can set that up.

  73. So there's a guard stationed on Saturday, and all of a sudden, here we are Sunday morning.

  74. And this is where we're going to pick up in Matthew 28, verse 1.

    Matthew 28:1

  75. We read this.

  76. Early Sunday morning.

  77. Toward the dawn of the first day of the week.

  78. Now remember, the Jewish Sabbath was a Saturday, so the first day of the week was Sunday.

  79. So Matthew's being very clear about when this is happening.

  80. The two Marys who witnessed where Jesus was buried, they're going back to the tomb.

  81. They're going back to the tomb we learned from the other Gospels to prepare his body for burial.

  82. And as they're going, in verse 2, there's another earthquake.

  83. There's the first earthquake when Jesus died, which would have gotten your attention.

  84. And then there's this earthquake, another earthquake.

  85. All of creation is making a statement about what has happened.

  86. And lo and behold, at the same time of this earthquake, an angel of the Lord descends.

  87. This isn't the first appearance of angels in the book of Matthew.

  88. There are angels all over the place in chapters 1 and 2, announcing Jesus' birth.

  89. And then angels appear again in Matthew 4, after Jesus is tempted.

  90. After he does that, nobody else could do.

  91. And that is, sustain the temptations of the devil himself.

  92. And he was ministered to by angels.

  93. Well, here is this angel who rolls away the huge stone blocking the tomb.

  94. And my imagination runs wild.

  95. There is this angel sitting on the stone in front of the empty tomb.

  96. And my question is, what pose is he in?

  97. Is he in like the classic senior picture pose?

  98. You know, kind of like this?

  99. Is he on the stone with his legs crossed?

  100. Kind of like arms back waiting?

  101. We don't know.

  102. But his hands aren't ringing.

  103. He's not saying, where did Jesus go?

  104. He's there to declare.

  105. He's there to announce.

  106. He's there to make known something.

  107. In 28.3, Matthew is very clear about the appearance of this angel.

  108. He was bright as lightning.

  109. White, bright and white.

  110. Mary and Mary would be like, you're not from around here, are you?

  111. Everybody would have known that this guy's not from around here.

  112. Well, in verse 4, we see what happens to the guard.

  113. It's like angel taser beam.

  114. This angel shows up in bright and white, sitting on the stone,

  115. and the Roman guard assigned by Pilate.

  116. They drop like dead men.

  117. They've been immobilized by angelic glory.

  118. But not the Marys.

  119. The angel says to them, don't be afraid, in verse 5.

  120. Don't be afraid, for I know you seek Jesus who was crucified.

  121. Even the angel recognized that Jesus was dead on the cross.

  122. In 28.6, the angel says,

  123. He's not here.

  124. He's not in the tomb.

  125. Which makes us ask the question,

  126. Well, where is He?

  127. And then the angel says,

  128. For He is risen.

  129. The first to announce the resurrection of Jesus is an angel.

  130. From heaven.

  131. He's not here, for He is risen.

  132. And then we read,

  133. He says, as He said.

  134. Jesus said,

  135. He was going to be crucified,

  136. and three days later,

  137. be raised.

  138. He says it three times leading up to coming into Jerusalem,

  139. all throughout the Gospel of Matthew.

  140. That's why the Pharisees had a guard set around the tomb.

  141. They knew it too.

  142. He's not here,

  143. for He is risen,

  144. as He said.

  145. You see,

  146. Jesus fulfills His word.

  147. He is unstoppable.

  148. Not only could this Roman guard not stop Him,

  149. death could not stop Him.

  150. And so,

  151. the angel says to the Mary,

  152. See for yourselves,

  153. the tomb is empty,

  154. meaning there's no body.

  155. 28.7,

  156. the angel tells the Marys

  157. to go and tell the disciples

  158. that Jesus is risen from the dead,

  159. and that the risen Christ would meet them up in Galilee.

  160. That's where Jesus did most of His ministry.

  161. Capernaum,

  162. which is in Galilee,

  163. would have been 80 miles due north of Jerusalem,

  164. as the crow flies.

  165. So,

  166. this angel said,

  167. the risen Christ is going to meet the disciples up there.

  168. In 28.8,

  169. we read that the Marys quickly leave the tomb,

  170. it's empty,

  171. and that they kind of basically run out of there

  172. with a mixture of fear and joy.

  173. Do you see that?

  174. In verse 8,

  175. we read,

  176. so they departed quickly from the tomb

  177. with fear and great joy.

  178. We have a word for that mix of fear and joy.

  179. It's the word awe.

  180. Being in awe of something.

  181. Amazement.

  182. It's the sense of,

  183. could it be something bigger than yourself

  184. that at the one point you're feeling,

  185. this is huge,

  186. and it's really exciting.

  187. And so,

  188. there is mounting excitement in the two Marys.

  189. And as they're going in verse 9,

  190. we read about an appearance.

  191. Surprise!

  192. The risen Jesus meets them on the way.

  193. We read this,

  194. and behold,

  195. Jesus met them and said,

  196. greetings.

  197. And that word greetings,

  198. it's more than just,

  199. hey,

  200. what's up ladies?

  201. It is this,

  202. it is good to see you.

  203. What a joy to see you.

  204. Joy to you.

  205. That's the greeting.

  206. And the two Marys came up,

  207. and they took hold of his feet

  208. and worshiped him.

  209. Did you read that?

  210. Took hold of his feet?

  211. Did you hear that?

  212. Do you know what that means?

  213. Do you know what it means

  214. to take hold of someone's feet?

  215. Do you know where you need to be

  216. in order to take hold of someone's feet?

  217. You need to be on the ground.

  218. Prostrate.

  219. They dropped in front of him.

  220. They recognized him,

  221. and they dropped in front of him.

  222. Do you know the last time Matthew records

  223. someone bowing at Jesus?

  224. It's the Praetorian guards,

  225. the Roman guards,

  226. in Matthew 27,

  227. when they're mocking him.

  228. They bow down before him,

  229. and they say,

  230. Hail King of the Jews!

  231. Ooh!

  232. And here,

  233. we have the Marys

  234. paying homage

  235. to the risen King.

  236. the real King.

  237. And they worship him.

  238. That's a word reserved for God.

  239. They're worshiping their God.

  240. The risen Christ.

  241. 2810,

  242. Jesus,

  243. the risen Christ,

  244. says to the Marys,

  245. don't be afraid.

  246. Wonderful words

  247. from the risen King.

  248. Go and tell your brothers,

  249. my brothers,

  250. he says.

  251. Now,

  252. that's an interesting way

  253. to describe the disciples.

  254. It should kind of call you back

  255. to Matthew 12

  256. when Jesus says,

  257. Hey,

  258. your family's here.

  259. And he turns to his disciples

  260. and says,

  261. Here's my family,

  262. those who do the will of my Father.

  263. They're my brothers and sisters.

  264. And so,

  265. he's saying,

  266. Hey,

  267. I'm going to my brothers,

  268. the ones who are doing

  269. my Father's will.

  270. They will see me.

  271. So,

  272. here's the summary

  273. of the Bible's account

  274. of the resurrection of Jesus.

  275. He died on Good Friday.

  276. He was crucified.

  277. He was placed in Joseph's tomb

  278. immediately after.

  279. The Marys saw it.

  280. A guard was assigned on Saturday.

  281. Sunday,

  282. the Marys go back to the tomb

  283. in order to prepare the body.

  284. There's this earthquake

  285. and an angel sitting on the stone

  286. moved away saying,

  287. He's risen from the dead.

  288. The Marys go into the tomb.

  289. They see everything.

  290. They go out to tell the disciples

  291. and on their way,

  292. they see and experience

  293. the risen Jesus Himself.

  294. They not just see Him,

  295. they feel Him.

  296. They grabbed His feet.

  297. They not just felt Him,

  298. they heard Him

  299. talking to them.

  300. They were in His presence.

  301. If they were close enough,

  302. they would have smelled

  303. His resurrection breath.

  304. And so what Matthew

  305. is helping us to see here

  306. is that these two women

  307. are eyewitnesses

  308. to the risen Jesus.

  309. It's an account

  310. of eyewitnesses

  311. who experienced Christ Himself

  312. after the death.

  313. Is this account that we read

  314. in Matthew 28, 1-10,

  315. is this fake news

  316. or is this real news?

  317. Is this spin

  318. or is this true?

  319. We've clarified the account.

  320. Let's now consider

  321. the actual claim

  322. being made here.

  323. This account,

  324. verses 1-10

  325. and the other Gospel accounts,

  326. it's claiming

  327. that Jesus

  328. not only really died,

  329. but that He

  330. was really raised bodily

  331. from the dead.

  332. that He's alive now.

  333. Now you may object

  334. and you may say,

  335. you know what?

  336. This resurrection business,

  337. this is not natural.

  338. Things like that

  339. don't happen.

  340. People dying

  341. and three days later

  342. are coming back

  343. to life.

  344. That doesn't happen.

  345. It's not normal experience.

  346. This doesn't conform

  347. to the laws of science.

  348. And I've got to say,

  349. I totally,

  350. wholeheartedly agree with you.

  351. This is not normal.

  352. This is not natural per se

  353. that someone dies

  354. and is raised from the dead.

  355. That this is beyond

  356. scientific explanation

  357. because what we're reading here,

  358. if it's true,

  359. is supernatural.

  360. Science is great.

  361. It makes wonderful discoveries.

  362. I'm an advocate of it.

  363. It's a discovery

  364. of God's creation.

  365. But I'll tell you what,

  366. there's some things

  367. that science just becomes

  368. like a sport coat

  369. that's just too small to wear.

  370. You just can't get it

  371. over something.

  372. And when we come

  373. to the resurrection,

  374. it's a supernatural miracle

  375. of God.

  376. It just doesn't fit over it well.

  377. It doesn't explain

  378. everything well.

  379. It can't.

  380. Science explains

  381. natural causes and effects.

  382. Not supernatural.

  383. Supernatural.

  384. Well, you may also object.

  385. Well, this is a false account.

  386. They made it up.

  387. Ten of the twelve disciples

  388. went to their death

  389. proclaiming not only Jesus died,

  390. but He was raised.

  391. Including the guy

  392. that wrote this Gospel,

  393. Matthew,

  394. also known as Levi.

  395. Apparently,

  396. church history says

  397. He was in Ethiopia

  398. when He got hacked to death

  399. with an axe

  400. proclaiming that Jesus is alive.

  401. Would you die for life?

  402. Another common objection,

  403. and this is among

  404. even Christians,

  405. is that this resurrection

  406. is not a real resurrection.

  407. It is symbolism of rising hope.

  408. The disciples really wanting

  409. to believe it really bad.

  410. There are churches in this town

  411. that proclaim that.

  412. And you know what?

  413. It does not accord

  414. with what the actual Bible says.

  415. The historical accounts

  416. of the life, death,

  417. and resurrection of Jesus.

  418. Sounds like fake news to me.

  419. The Gospels point to

  420. an actual bodily resurrection

  421. from the dead.

  422. Remember,

  423. the Marys took hold

  424. of the feet of Jesus

  425. here in Matthew.

  426. And Luke,

  427. Jesus actually eats broiled fish

  428. with His stunned disciples.

  429. Can you imagine that?

  430. In John 20,

  431. Jesus is talking to Thomas.

  432. This is the guy that says,

  433. you know what?

  434. I will not believe

  435. until I put my finger

  436. in His hands

  437. and in His side.

  438. And then Jesus shows up

  439. and says,

  440. oh, Thomas,

  441. here, put your finger here

  442. and put your finger here.

  443. You know what Thomas does?

  444. My Lord and my God!

  445. This account makes a claim

  446. that Jesus was crucified,

  447. dead,

  448. and buried,

  449. and on the third day

  450. He was raised bodily

  451. from the dead.

  452. Is it false news

  453. or is it real news?

  454. Let's look,

  455. chew on the implications.

  456. If this headline,

  457. He is risen,

  458. if that's fake news

  459. that's been spinning

  460. for 2,000 years,

  461. if that's fake news,

  462. then Christianity

  463. as a whole

  464. is a bunch of hogwash.

  465. I'm not sure

  466. what hogwash is.

  467. I just know

  468. that you don't want it.

  469. I'm guessing

  470. if you get a bucket

  471. of hogwash,

  472. you're just going

  473. to throw it out.

  474. And if Christianity

  475. is built on fake news

  476. of a fake resurrection,

  477. it's hogwash.

  478. Get rid of it.

  479. If you knowingly

  480. embrace something

  481. that you don't believe

  482. to be true,

  483. you are lying to yourself.

  484. And that's why

  485. in 1 Corinthians 15,

  486. the Apostle Paul,

  487. talking about the resurrection,

  488. talking about the resurrection

  489. of Jesus,

  490. and says,

  491. hey, if this didn't happen,

  492. Christians are to be pitied

  493. above all people

  494. because they're giving

  495. their lives today

  496. for a lie.

  497. But chew on this.

  498. If Jesus was actually risen,

  499. if this is actually

  500. real news

  501. that it actually happened,

  502. let's chew on those implications.

  503. There are implications

  504. to other things he said

  505. because remember,

  506. if Jesus said

  507. he was going to be crucified

  508. and three days later

  509. raised from the dead,

  510. if he was right on that,

  511. what else did he say?

  512. Let me tell you

  513. some things he said.

  514. He said that the greatest problem

  515. every human being faces

  516. is not outside of us,

  517. but inside of us.

  518. And it's not mutated genes

  519. inside of us.

  520. But this deep,

  521. rebellious streak

  522. in each of us

  523. against God.

  524. It's this rebellious streak

  525. that goes like this.

  526. God, I don't give a rip.

  527. I'm going to do

  528. what I want to do,

  529. the way I want to do it,

  530. when I want to do it,

  531. how I want to do it.

  532. The Bible calls that sin.

  533. And each of us

  534. has got that rebellious streak

  535. in us.

  536. According to Jesus.

  537. And there are horrific consequences

  538. to that.

  539. According to Jesus.

  540. Jesus reserves

  541. some of his most stark language

  542. for the eternal punishment

  543. against that kind of rebellion.

  544. He talks about it

  545. as being cast out

  546. into outer darkness

  547. where there is

  548. weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  549. High consequences

  550. to rebellion

  551. against the living God.

  552. So he said that.

  553. But he also said

  554. this.

  555. He said that

  556. he actually came

  557. for rebels.

  558. He came and became

  559. one of us

  560. in order to rescue

  561. rebels.

  562. In order to

  563. go after the rebels

  564. who are out

  565. in the outer darkness

  566. and bring them

  567. into the light

  568. of a banquet feast

  569. with the living God.

  570. He said we've got a problem

  571. but he said

  572. I've got a solution

  573. and he goes on to say

  574. let me tell you

  575. what that solution

  576. is going to be.

  577. He said

  578. I came not to be served

  579. but to serve

  580. and give my life

  581. as a ransom

  582. for many.

  583. His death on the cross

  584. that first good Friday

  585. it was a ransom payment.

  586. It was a ransom payment

  587. for rebels

  588. in order to bring them

  589. from darkness

  590. into light.

  591. He gave his life

  592. to pay the eternal punishment

  593. for all those rebels

  594. willing to believe

  595. in him.

  596. Now if he was right

  597. about his own resurrection

  598. could he be right

  599. about your sinful condition

  600. that you've got

  601. a rebellion streak

  602. in you against

  603. the living God?

  604. If he was right

  605. about his own resurrection

  606. could he also be right

  607. of why he came?

  608. He came on a mission

  609. to rescue rebels.

  610. Could he also be right

  611. if he's right

  612. about the resurrection

  613. could he also be right

  614. about what his death

  615. accomplished?

  616. that at 3 p.m.

  617. that first good Friday

  618. that when he gave up

  619. his life

  620. it was a ransom

  621. for many.

  622. So there's implications

  623. if he was right

  624. about his resurrection

  625. what else did he say?

  626. Is he right

  627. about those two?

  628. And now

  629. what are the implications

  630. about who he is?

  631. The Bible talks

  632. about this one

  633. this Jesus

  634. who's been raised

  635. from the dead

  636. purportedly

  637. that he's Emmanuel

  638. God with us

  639. Merry Christmas!

  640. God came

  641. and walked among us

  642. as a rescue mission

  643. to become

  644. a ransom payment.

  645. He claimed

  646. Jesus claimed

  647. to be the one

  648. who would usher

  649. in a new kingdom

  650. of God

  651. a kingdom

  652. not of political force

  653. not of military might

  654. but a kingdom

  655. made up of

  656. rescues

  657. of rebels

  658. rescued by his ransom

  659. it's a kingdom

  660. of grace

  661. he claimed

  662. to have been

  663. to give all authority

  664. on heaven

  665. and earth

  666. and so to come

  667. into his kingdom

  668. means you come

  669. under his reign

  670. because he has

  671. all authority

  672. to become a Christian

  673. is to live

  674. for Christ

  675. and so that's

  676. the big claim

  677. of the resurrection

  678. that this one

  679. who has died

  680. and was raised

  681. he is

  682. the

  683. Christ

  684. the Messiah

  685. the King of kings

  686. and Lord of lords

  687. who has come

  688. to establish

  689. a kingdom

  690. of rebels

  691. turned

  692. worshippers

  693. and he speaks

  694. today

  695. he's alive

  696. the risen Christ

  697. just wasn't

  698. risen in the Bible

  699. the risen Christ

  700. is alive

  701. today

  702. if he was truly

  703. raised from the dead

  704. he's living

  705. he's reigning

  706. he knows you

  707. in and out

  708. and he's inviting you

  709. to come into

  710. his kingdom

  711. we've chewed on

  712. the implications

  713. if he was raised

  714. from the dead

  715. there are some

  716. serious

  717. far reaching

  718. implications

  719. for all of us

  720. one of which is

  721. to choose

  722. choose

  723. to whom

  724. you're going

  725. to commit

  726. you see

  727. you need

  728. to choose

  729. and you actually

  730. need to choose

  731. twice

  732. here's what I mean

  733. by that

  734. the first choice

  735. you need to make

  736. the first decision

  737. you need to make

  738. is this

  739. is this

  740. he has risen

  741. business

  742. is that

  743. fake news

  744. or is that

  745. real news

  746. that's where

  747. you need to start

  748. if you think

  749. that it's fake

  750. news

  751. it's hogwash

  752. get rid of it

  753. move on with your

  754. day

  755. enjoy the peeps

  756. you know what I'm

  757. talking about

  758. but if it's

  759. real news

  760. then that means

  761. it's true

  762. it means

  763. it happened

  764. it means

  765. he's alive

  766. which means

  767. you have a second

  768. choice now

  769. to make

  770. the first choice

  771. is that

  772. Christianity

  773. is true

  774. Jesus is alive

  775. and now you're

  776. realizing I'm a

  777. sinner

  778. and I need a

  779. ransom

  780. but let's just

  781. clarify something

  782. because I think

  783. people get stuck

  784. here

  785. simply agreeing

  786. that the

  787. resurrection account

  788. is true

  789. does not mean

  790. you are a

  791. Christian

  792. it doesn't mean

  793. you are a

  794. follower of Jesus

  795. hey I agree

  796. with the Chicago

  797. Bears

  798. choosing to

  799. let loose

  800. Jay Coulter

  801. whatever his

  802. name is

  803. but that

  804. doesn't mean

  805. I'm a Bears

  806. fan

  807. you smell it

  808. when I'm

  809. cooking

  810. I agree

  811. but I'm not

  812. a fan

  813. you may

  814. agree

  815. with what

  816. Matthew 28

  817. 1-10

  818. says

  819. but that

  820. doesn't make

  821. you a

  822. follower

  823. of the

  824. risen

  825. king

  826. so the

  827. second

  828. choice

  829. you need

  830. to make

  831. is this

  832. it's the

  833. moving

  834. from

  835. intellectual

  836. agreement

  837. to active

  838. faith

  839. let me try

  840. to illustrate

  841. it

  842. I'm sure

  843. you notice

  844. this

  845. stool

  846. to my

  847. left

  848. it's

  849. sturdy

  850. or so it

  851. seems

  852. it's made

  853. of wood

  854. a solid

  855. wood

  856. let me

  857. ask you

  858. this

  859. question

  860. do you

  861. think

  862. that

  863. this

  864. stool

  865. to my

  866. left

  867. this

  868. particular

  869. stool

  870. do you

  871. think

  872. that

  873. can

  874. hold

  875. your

  876. way

  877. nod

  878. if

  879. you

  880. think

  881. it

  882. can

  883. hold

  884. your

  885. way

  886. you

  887. can

  888. nod

  889. shake

  890. your

  891. head

  892. if

  893. you

  894. don't

  895. think

  896. it

  897. you

  898. can

  899. it's

  900. like

  901. it's

  902. not

  903. a

  904. spoof

  905. it's

  906. not

  907. a

  908. trick

  909. here's

  910. the

  911. point

  912. I'm

  913. trying

  914. to

  915. make

  916. just

  917. because

  918. you

  919. can

  920. believe

  921. it

  922. hold

  923. its

  924. way

  925. doesn't

  926. mean

  927. you're

  928. actively

  929. trusting

  930. in

  931. it

  932. right

  933. now

  934. does

  935. it

  936. you

  937. may

  938. intellectually

  939. agree

  940. oh yes

  941. this

  942. is

  943. a

  944. solid

  945. stool

  946. but

  947. it's

  948. not

  949. until

  950. you

  951. sit

  952. down

  953. on

  954. it

  955. that

  956. you

  957. exercise

  958. faith

  959. that

  960. you

  961. put

  962. your

  963. trust

  964. in

  965. this

  966. stool

  967. there's

  968. a lot

  969. of

  970. people

  971. who

  972. think

  973. that

  974. they

  975. can

  976. just

  977. agree

  978. with

  979. the

  980. Bible

  981. and

  982. everything

  983. is

  984. okay

  985. when

  986. in

  987. fact

  988. they

  989. are

  990. not

  991. actively

  992. trusting

  993. in

  994. the

  995. risen

  996. Christ

  997. so

  998. this

  999. is

  1000. what

  1001. it

  1002. looks

  1003. like

  1004. it

  1005. goes

  1006. from

  1007. saying

  1008. yes

  1009. I

  1010. believe

  1011. that

  1012. Jesus

  1013. was

  1014. raised

  1015. from

  1016. the

  1017. dead

  1018. he

  1019. is

  1020. risen

  1021. he

  1022. is

  1023. risen

  1024. indeed

  1025. amen

  1026. yes

  1027. to

  1028. oh

  1029. risen

  1030. Christ

  1031. you

  1032. came

  1033. for

  1034. me

  1035. and

  1036. gave

  1037. your

  1038. life

  1039. as

  1040. a

  1041. ransom

  1042. and

  1043. now

  1044. I'm

  1045. going

  1046. to

  1047. live

  1048. my

  1049. life

  1050. for

  1051. you

  1052. joyfully

  1053. under

  1054. your

  1055. reign

  1056. see

  1057. the

  1058. difference

  1059. where

  1060. are

  1061. you

  1062. do

  1063. you

  1064. agree

  1065. are

  1066. you

  1067. actively

  1068. trusting

  1069. in

  1070. the

  1071. risen

  1072. Christ

  1073. have

  1074. you

  1075. cried

  1076. out

  1077. to

  1078. him

  1079. have

  1080. you

  1081. moved

  1082. from

  1083. a

  1084. simple

  1085. confession

  1086. to

  1087. a

  1088. believing

  1089. in

  1090. your

  1091. heart

  1092. that

  1093. God

  1094. raised

  1095. Christ

  1096. from

  1097. the

  1098. dead

  1099. this

  1100. morning

  1101. we've

  1102. asked

  1103. the

  1104. question

  1105. hey

  1106. is

  1107. the

  1108. resurrection

  1109. fake

  1110. news

  1111. or

  1112. real

  1113. news

  1114. and

  1115. the

  1116. Bible

  1117. says

  1118. it

  1119. is

  1120. real

  1121. news

  1122. I've

  1123. sought

  1124. to

  1125. kind

  1126. of

  1127. clarify

  1128. the

  1129. account

  1130. to

  1131. help

  1132. you

  1133. understand

  1134. the

  1135. claim

  1136. to

  1137. chew

  1138. on

  1139. the

  1140. implications

  1141. and

  1142. now

  1143. I've

  1144. urged

  1145. you

  1146. to

  1147. choose

  1148. to

  1149. commit

  1150. yourself

  1151. to

  1152. the

  1153. risen

  1154. Christ

  1155. what

  1156. are you

  1157. going to

  1158. do

  1159. choose

  1160. him

  1161. cry

  1162. out

  1163. to

  1164. him

  1165. if

  1166. this

  1167. news

  1168. is

  1169. real

  1170. news

  1171. it's

  1172. not

  1173. just

  1174. true

  1175. it

  1176. changes

  1177. everything

  1178. and

  1179. that's

  1180. why

  1181. it's

  1182. not

  1183. just

  1184. real

  1185. news

  1186. but

  1187. good

  1188. news

  1189. this

  1190. is

  1191. the

  1192. news

  1193. of

  1194. salvation

  1195. for

  1196. sinners

  1197. for

  1198. rebels

  1199. he

  1200. is

  1201. risen

  1202. he

  1203. is

  1204. risen

  1205. indeed

  1206. he

  1207. who

  1208. has

  1209. ears

  1210. hear

  1211. the

  1212. word

  1213. of

  1214. the

  1215. kingdom

  1216. let's

  1217. pray

  1218. risen

  1219. Christ

  1220. thank

  1221. you

  1222. so

  1223. much

  1224. that

  1225. you

  1226. are

  1227. a

  1228. God

  1229. that

  1230. is

  1231. alive

  1232. and

  1233. you

  1234. are

  1235. reigning

  1236. we

  1237. pray

  1238. that

  1239. you

  1240. would

  1241. take

  1242. this

  1243. news

  1244. and

  1245. plant

  1246. it

  1247. into

  1248. hearts

  1249. and

  1250. that

  1251. you

  1252. would

  1253. bring

  1254. about

  1255. a

  1256. yield

  1257. of

  1258. faith

  1259. and

  1260. fruitfulness

  1261. to

  1262. the

  1263. glory

  1264. of

  1265. your

  1266. name

  1267. Lord

  1268. Jesus

  1269. we

  1270. gladly

  1271. confess

  1272. to

  1273. you

  1274. you

  1275. are

  1276. our

  1277. risen

  1278. king

  1279. and

  1280. it's

  1281. to

  1282. you

  1283. to

  1284. whom

  1285. we

  1286. live

  1287. and

  1288. commit

  1289. our

  1290. lives

  1291. it's

  1292. in

  1293. your

  1294. name

  1295. we

  1296. pray

  1297. and

  1298. all

  1299. of

  1300. God's

  1301. people

  1302. said

  1303. Amen
