  1. I'll use the wireless and you can just switch that off.

  2. Thanks.

  3. Yeah, much sound and no light.

  4. I hope that's not continued.

  5. Let's pray and ask God's help.

  6. Our Father, we thank you for the great gifts

  7. that you gave to your church

  8. when you physically left this earth

  9. for your word,

  10. which as you've said in the gospel reading we had today

  11. are not your words, but the very words of your Father.

  12. And for the great gift of the Holy Spirit, another helper.

  13. We pray that we would have thankful hearts,

  14. that we would treasure these gifts

  15. and that by the power of your Holy Spirit

  16. and by his help, we would understand your word

  17. and that in his strength, we would live it out

  18. and share it with the world around us.

  19. We pray all these things through Christ,

  20. your Son and our Savior.

  21. Amen.

  22. Here's a Bible trivia quiz for you.

  23. According to the description

  24. at the end of the book of Revelation,

  25. what is the first group of people

  26. to be cast into the lake of fire?

  27. It's the cowardly.

  28. You can look that up later at your leisure

  29. in Revelation 21.

  30. The cowardly.

  31. The fearful.

  32. The faint-hearted.

  33. Now, if you're anything like me,

  34. you're beginning to feel decidedly uncomfortable.

  35. I seem to be hardwired toward being shy

  36. and perhaps timid.

  37. And it's a precious small step

  38. from timid to faint-hearted

  39. and from faint-hearted

  40. to cowardly

  41. or fearful.

  42. Now, others among us,

  43. you may not have a personality

  44. that bends you toward fearfulness,

  45. but at the same time,

  46. I can imagine that most of you,

  47. probably all of you,

  48. if you had long enough to think about it

  49. and felt comfortable enough to share it,

  50. I imagine that most of us from time to time

  51. are all too familiar

  52. with the feeling of

  53. the pressure of stressful circumstances,

  54. with the mounting anxiety,

  55. with a knot that begins to form

  56. in the pit of your stomach,

  57. with a feeling of discomfort,

  58. the pounding of your heart,

  59. the inability to think clearly.

  60. That seems to be one of my first

  61. in this situation.

  62. A desire to get away.

  63. A desire to flee like a bird

  64. to the mountains.

  65. I felt that last night

  66. when I knew I had to stand up here

  67. this morning.

  68. That's true.

  69. Perhaps even a feeling of desperation,

  70. panic.

  71. Some extent of that is true

  72. almost, I'm sure, to all of us.

  73. Well, in the passage of John's Gospel

  74. that we read earlier,

  75. Jesus speaks directly to this experience.

  76. This fearfulness

  77. does not need to describe

  78. anyone who has become

  79. a disciple of the Lord Jesus.

  80. In fact, it must not

  81. in an ongoing and sustained way.

  82. And he gives very clear reasons why.

  83. So I invite you to turn to this

  84. glorious passage

  85. in John's Gospel

  86. on page 935, again,

  87. of your Pew Bible,

  88. or in your own Bible,

  89. John chapter 14.

    John 14 chapter mention

  90. Once again,

  91. to place this in its setting,

  92. the context of this conversation,

  93. it's Jesus' last night

  94. before his betrayal

  95. and his arrest

  96. and his crucifixion.

  97. He knows that his departure is near.

  98. And in a section

  99. unique to John's Gospel,

  100. a long section

  101. from the end of chapter 13

  102. right through

  103. to the end of chapter 17,

  104. he's preparing his disciples

  105. for what's about to happen.

  106. The 11 disciples,

  107. which is the 12

  108. minus Judas Iscariot,

  109. who has already left

  110. on his mission of betrayal,

  111. they're disturbed

  112. by what they're beginning

  113. to understand

  114. that Jesus is telling them.

  115. Their hearts are troubled

  116. and they're feeling afraid.

  117. And it's into this situation

  118. that Jesus speaks

  119. these words of comfort

  120. and encouragement.

  121. So we pick up the conversation

  122. in chapter 14 and verse 15.

  123. If you love me,

  124. keep my commandments.

  125. And I will pray the Father

  126. and he will give you

  127. another helper

  128. that he may abide

  129. with you forever.

  130. We'll just stop there.

  131. I don't know how comforted

  132. you are yet.

  133. Because what is Jesus saying

  134. here at the beginning?

  135. He says,

  136. if you love me,

  137. well he says,

  138. three things will result.

  139. Did you notice?

  140. Three things.

  141. First,

  142. if you love me,

  143. keep my commandments.

  144. Or some translations

  145. will say,

  146. you will keep my commandments.

  147. That's first.

  148. Secondly,

  149. he will pray

  150. to the Father

  151. or ask the Father.

  152. And thirdly,

  153. the Father

  154. will give you

  155. another helper

  156. who will be with you forever.

  157. So in the first

  158. of these three things,

  159. in verse 15,

  160. if you love me,

  161. keep my commandments.

  162. The Lord is showing us

  163. the unavoidable connection

  164. between loving him

  165. and keeping his commandments.

  166. If we love him,

  167. we will keep his commandments.

  168. If we don't keep his commandments,

  169. we don't love him.

  170. It's that simple.

  171. It's that unavoidable.

  172. It's a simple if-then

  173. kind of a statement

  174. that we all make.

  175. If you put your hand

  176. on the hot element,

  177. then you will get burned.

  178. When the first half

  179. of the statement is true,

  180. when you put your hand

  181. on the hot element,

  182. then the second half

  183. necessarily follows.

  184. You will get burned.

  185. That is the type

  186. of statement he's saying.

  187. So,

  188. if you love me,

  189. if you love me,

  190. if you're in an ongoing

  191. relationship

  192. of love

  193. with me,

  194. with the Lord Jesus,

  195. then it necessarily

  196. follows that you will

  197. keep my commandments.

  198. Now,

  199. for some of us,

  200. this should be a point

  201. of encouragement,

  202. of strengthening your faith.

  203. Ask yourself this question.

  204. Do I seek

  205. to obey his commandments?

  206. I'm not saying

  207. do you never stumble,

  208. but is the basic

  209. orientation

  210. of your heart

  211. to obey

  212. his commandments?

  213. Do I

  214. make it a priority

  215. to read

  216. God's word

  217. in private

  218. or in public?

  219. To read it with others?

  220. To read it myself?

  221. To hear it taught?

  222. And with all

  223. of this hearing,

  224. with the orientation

  225. so that I can

  226. do what it says?

  227. When I live

  228. my ordinary

  229. day-to-day,

  230. Monday-to-Friday

  231. life,

  232. my weekends,

  233. am I trying

  234. to obey

  235. his word?

  236. And for many of you,

  237. the answer will be yes.

  238. If you look in your heart,

  239. yes,

  240. I fall many times,

  241. I stumble daily,

  242. but yes,

  243. I do,

  244. I desire to keep

  245. his word.

  246. Well,

  247. if so,

  248. give thanks to God.

  249. Give thanks to God

  250. because that is a sign

  251. of his grace

  252. that has done a work

  253. in your heart.

  254. Because before

  255. he called you

  256. to himself,

  257. it would have never

  258. crossed your mind

  259. to live like that.

  260. It would have never

  261. crossed your mind

  262. as you were going

  263. about your normal

  264. daily business

  265. to ask yourself,

  266. am I obeying

  267. the commandments

  268. of Jesus?

  269. It's just not

  270. what the worldly

  271. way of thinking is.

  272. It would never

  273. occur to you.

  274. And you may,

  275. if you were converted

  276. late enough in life,

  277. you may remember

  278. a time before

  279. you came to know

  280. the Lord

  281. when that was true.

  282. I don't know,

  283. perhaps some of you

  284. will remember it.

  285. Isn't it true?

  286. Never crossed your mind.

  287. But now it is

  288. your desire.

  289. It is your desire

  290. to keep his commandments.

  291. And that's only possible

  292. because he's given you

  293. a new heart.

  294. A new heart

  295. that loves

  296. the Lord Jesus

  297. and desires

  298. to obey his word.

  299. So be encouraged.

  300. Now for others

  301. it will sound foreign.

  302. Perhaps,

  303. perhaps you read

  304. the Bible

  305. from time to time.

  306. You taught,

  307. you were taught it

  308. as a kid.

  309. It's a habit

  310. you occasionally do.

  311. Maybe when situations

  312. get difficult

  313. you,

  314. you dust it off,

  315. pull it out of the,

  316. the drawer.

  317. I don't mean

  318. to,

  319. to be little.

  320. But,

  321. nevertheless,

  322. or perhaps you

  323. attend church.

  324. Perhaps you come

  325. once in a while.

  326. Perhaps you come

  327. every week

  328. ever since you've

  329. been an infant.

  330. But,

  331. nevertheless,

  332. this experience

  333. I'm describing,

  334. this longing

  335. to know God's word

  336. and to put it

  337. into practice,

  338. to obey it

  339. day by day,

  340. it's just,

  341. it's simply not part

  342. of your experience.

  343. I don't think that way.

  344. It would never

  345. cross my mind.

  346. Well,

  347. if this describes you,

  348. let the words

  349. of Jesus

  350. sink into your ears

  351. and into your heart.

  352. If you love me,

  353. keep my commandments.

  354. And he says

  355. the same point again

  356. in verse 21.

  357. He who has

  358. my commandments

  359. has them

  360. and keeps them,

  361. it is he

  362. who loves me.

  363. And he says

  364. it again

  365. in verse 23.

  366. Jesus answered

  367. Judas

  368. and said to him,

  369. if anyone

  370. loves me,

  371. he'll keep

  372. my word.

  373. Now,

  374. in all this,

  375. it's critical

  376. that you make

  377. sure you get

  378. a hold of

  379. the right end

  380. of the stick,

  381. not the wrong end.

  382. We don't

  383. begin

  384. by obeying

  385. the commandments

  386. of God

  387. and work

  388. ourselves up

  389. into a situation

  390. of loving him.

  391. No,

  392. the love

  393. comes first

  394. and it

  395. expresses itself

  396. in

  397. our

  398. desire

  399. to obey.

  400. Remember

  401. what Jesus

  402. said,

  403. if you put

  404. your hand

  405. on the stove,

  406. no,

  407. that was me.

  408. He said,

  409. if you put

  410. your hand

  411. on the stove,

  412. that corresponds

  413. to what?

  414. If you love

  415. me,

  416. right?

  417. That's the first

  418. thing.

  419. Then,

  420. the result

  421. is,

  422. you will

  423. get burned

  424. or you

  425. will obey

  426. my commandments.

  427. The love

  428. comes first,

  429. the obedience

  430. flows out

  431. of a heart

  432. that loves

  433. the Lord.

  434. So,

  435. what you need

  436. to do,

  437. if this is

  438. alien to you

  439. and you don't

  440. want it to be

  441. alien to you,

  442. is you need

  443. to pray to God.

  444. You need to

  445. cry out to him

  446. to give you

  447. a new heart.

  448. A new heart

  449. that loves

  450. the Lord Jesus

  451. and desires

  452. to obey

  453. his commandments,

  454. to keep

  455. his word.

  456. Now,

  457. all of this

  458. is important

  459. to see

  460. because what

  461. Jesus is doing

  462. is he's laying

  463. the foundation

  464. for what we

  465. said at the

  466. beginning,

  467. a message

  468. of consolation

  469. and comfort.

  470. But the message

  471. is for those

  472. who love him.

  473. You might call it

  474. the comfortable

  475. words.

  476. That's what the

  477. prayer book likes

  478. to call things

  479. like this,

  480. the comfy words.

  481. So he says,

  482. if you love me,

  483. keep my commandments.

  484. And then remember,

  485. there's those two

  486. other things

  487. that flow from

  488. the if.

  489. If you love me,

  490. keep my commandments.

  491. And then this,

  492. and I will pray

  493. the Father,

  494. and then thirdly,

  495. he,

  496. that is the Father,

  497. will give you

  498. another helper

  499. that he may dwell

  500. with you forever.

  501. Another helper.

  502. This is good news.

  503. Indeed.

  504. For those,

  505. for these disciples

  506. who are facing

  507. the loss of their

  508. Lord physically,

  509. the Lord Jesus

  510. who had been

  511. their helper,

  512. their encourager,

  513. their teacher,

  514. the one who had

  515. revealed the Father

  516. to them,

  517. the one who had

  518. guided them,

  519. strengthened them,

  520. all of those things.

  521. Now Jesus promises

  522. them that after

  523. he departs,

  524. he's not going to

  525. leave them as orphans.

  526. He's going to give

  527. them another helper.

  528. Another helper.

  529. The Holy Spirit

  530. or the Spirit of Truth

  531. as he's called

  532. in verse 17.

  533. The Spirit of Truth.

  534. Now the reason

  535. it was important

  536. to think about

  537. the loving

  538. and the keeping

  539. his commandments

  540. is because he says,

  541. this Spirit

  542. I will send

  543. to those who love me.

  544. He says,

  545. the world

  546. cannot receive

  547. the Holy Spirit.

  548. just as an aside,

  549. actually,

  550. I jumped over,

  551. but it's worth

  552. drawing your attention

  553. to,

  554. just as an aside,

  555. notice how

  556. all three persons

  557. of the Trinity

  558. are involved

  559. in helping

  560. and comforting

  561. his disciples.

  562. Jesus,

  563. the Son,

  564. prays to the Father.

  565. The Father

  566. receives his prayer

  567. and sends

  568. the Holy Spirit

  569. and the Holy Spirit

  570. comes and dwells

  571. within us

  572. and among us

  573. to be our helper,

  574. to give us strength

  575. to live as disciples

  576. of the Lord

  577. in this world.

  578. Thanks be to God.

  579. And now,

  580. the connection,

  581. Jesus goes on

  582. to explain

  583. between all of

  584. that and loving him

  585. and keeping his commandments.

  586. He goes on

  587. to say that

  588. the world

  589. cannot receive

  590. the Holy Spirit.

  591. Why?

  592. He says in verse 17,

  593. the world

  594. cannot receive him

  595. because it neither

  596. sees him nor knows him.

  597. They don't even know

  598. that there is

  599. a Holy Spirit,

  600. that the Holy Spirit

  601. exists.

  602. But,

  603. you know him,

  604. for he dwells with you

  605. and will be in you.

  606. To the one

  607. who knows Jesus,

  608. the Holy Spirit

  609. is perfectly familiar

  610. because Jesus,

  611. to know Jesus

  612. is to know

  613. the Holy Spirit.

  614. The Holy Spirit

  615. and the Lord Jesus

  616. are so closely

  617. linked

  618. in this passage

  619. that he says

  620. he dwells with you

  621. even though

  622. he's not yet been sent

  623. because the Spirit

  624. is in Jesus.

  625. He dwells with them now

  626. in the person

  627. of Jesus

  628. and then he says

  629. I will come to you

  630. in verse 18.

  631. The Holy Spirit,

  632. when the Spirit

  633. comes to you,

  634. it's me who's coming

  635. to you.

  636. The Holy Spirit

  637. and Jesus

  638. are so closely

  639. associated

  640. because in fact

  641. they are one.

  642. Now,

  643. the rest of the passage

  644. basically drives home

  645. over and over again

  646. this relationship,

  647. the main points

  648. that we've just been seeing.

  649. The connection

  650. between loving him

  651. on the one hand

  652. and keeping his commandments

  653. on the other,

  654. on the coming

  655. of another helper

  656. from the Father

  657. to the ones

  658. who love him

  659. and obey his word.

  660. Now,

  661. sometimes Jesus

  662. says a little bit more

  663. and explains

  664. what he means.

  665. Sometimes he

  666. repeats the idea,

  667. he says it

  668. in a different way,

  669. he sheds a little bit

  670. more light

  671. and I urge you

  672. to take it home

  673. to look over it again

  674. and see

  675. how he's basically

  676. going around

  677. and around

  678. the same thing

  679. over and over again

  680. to make sure

  681. that they understand.

  682. For example,

  683. in verse 22,

  684. he's just said

  685. a bunch of things

  686. and then Judas,

  687. one of his disciples,

  688. he basically says,

  689. I don't get it.

  690. He says to him,

  691. how is it

  692. that you're going

  693. to manifest yourself

  694. to us

  695. and not to the world?

  696. He hasn't got it

  697. quite straight

  698. in his mind.

  699. So what does Jesus do?

  700. He just goes around

  701. the barn

  702. one more time.

  703. He says the same thing,

  704. if anyone loves me,

  705. he'll keep my word

  706. and my Father

  707. will love him

  708. and we'll come to him

  709. and make our home

  710. with him

  711. and so on.

  712. Well,

  713. now when we put together

  714. then all the different

  715. things that Jesus says

  716. in this passage,

  717. in this passage alone

  718. about the Holy Spirit,

  719. we begin to see

  720. why it is

  721. that the disciples

  722. don't need to be afraid

  723. anymore.

  724. And these are the main points.

  725. So I invite you,

  726. we're not going to go

  727. through them one by one.

  728. I think the better effect

  729. will be is if you do that

  730. at home,

  731. but just sit back

  732. and let these

  733. wash over you

  734. as it were.

  735. Jesus teaches them that.

  736. the helper

  737. is like him,

  738. another helper.

  739. He has been their helper.

  740. He will send

  741. another helper.

  742. The helper's like Jesus.

  743. He will be with them

  744. forever.

  745. He will be with them

  746. forever.

  747. He gives them life.

  748. He actually

  749. joins them

  750. to God.

  751. He makes them one

  752. first with the Lord

  753. Jesus himself,

  754. one spirit

  755. with the head

  756. of the body.

  757. Actually,

  758. vitally,

  759. spiritually linked

  760. with the Lord

  761. Jesus himself

  762. and through him

  763. with the Father.

  764. a living,

  765. real,

  766. spiritual union.

  767. He brings to them,

  768. this is the spirit again,

  769. the helper.

  770. He brings to them

  771. and makes real to them

  772. the love

  773. of the Father

  774. and the love

  775. of the Lord Jesus.

  776. He reveals

  777. Jesus to them.

  778. He teaches them.

  779. He reminds them

  780. of all the things

  781. that Jesus has said.

  782. He brings to them

  783. the peace

  784. that Jesus gives.

  785. Now,

  786. it's knowing

  787. and more than knowing,

  788. experiencing

  789. all of these things

  790. plus others

  791. that are taught

  792. elsewhere in the scriptures

  793. that will encourage

  794. and comfort

  795. and strengthen

  796. the disciples

  797. as they face

  798. the prospect

  799. of living

  800. without the Lord

  801. in this hostile world.

  802. Once Jesus

  803. is physically departed,

  804. that's why

  805. he can conclude

  806. all of this teaching

  807. about the Holy Spirit

  808. in verse 27

  809. by saying,

  810. let not your heart

  811. be troubled,

  812. neither let it

  813. be afraid.

  814. Now,

  815. I want us then

  816. in the final

  817. moments

  818. to focus in

  819. on this

  820. command.

  821. Verse 27

  822. at the very end,

  823. let not your heart

  824. be troubled,

  825. neither let it

  826. be afraid.

  827. This instruction

  828. is a two-edged sword.

  829. I think

  830. what we're used

  831. to doing

  832. when we read that

  833. is reading those

  834. as words

  835. of comfort.

  836. They make us

  837. feel

  838. peaceful,

  839. assured.

  840. and that's so

  841. and in light

  842. of all that

  843. he's doing,

  844. that's true.

  845. But,

  846. in the light

  847. of all that

  848. he's been saying.

  849. But on the other

  850. hand,

  851. there's something

  852. that we may not

  853. fully appreciate

  854. about this passage,

  855. about this verse,

  856. particularly the way

  857. it's put in many

  858. of our English

  859. translations,

  860. is this is

  861. an imperative.

  862. This is a command

  863. from the Lord.

  864. A command.

  865. the words,

  866. let not your

  867. heart be troubled,

  868. neither let it

  869. be afraid,

  870. they carry the

  871. force of a

  872. prohibition.

  873. Don't do it.

  874. We might better

  875. express the same

  876. words as,

  877. your heart

  878. must not

  879. be troubled.

  880. It must not

  881. be afraid.

  882. In fact,

  883. it's even

  884. stronger than

  885. this because

  886. the word

  887. translated

  888. afraid

  889. at the end

  890. of verse 27

  891. is the same

  892. word that we

  893. talked about

  894. at the very

  895. beginning in

  896. Revelation 21.

  897. Cowardly.

  898. It's completely

  899. lost to us

  900. here.

  901. Jesus says

  902. here,

  903. your heart

  904. must not

  905. be cowardly.

  906. Your heart

  907. must not

  908. be cowardly.

  909. In light of

  910. all that I've

  911. told you

  912. and that you

  913. understand,

  914. and in light

  915. even more of

  916. what you're

  917. about to

  918. experience when

  919. the Holy Spirit

  920. is poured out

  921. on you on

  922. the day of

  923. Pentecost,

  924. your heart

  925. must not

  926. be cowardly.

  927. To whom

  928. much has

  929. been given,

  930. much will

  931. be required.

  932. Now,

  933. I don't want,

  934. the last thing

  935. I want is for

  936. all of you

  937. to go away

  938. afraid,

  939. because that

  940. would be the

  941. opposite effect

  942. of what he's

  943. saying.

  944. We don't

  945. want you

  946. thinking if

  947. you suffer

  948. fear,

  949. you're going

  950. to be cast

  951. into the

  952. lake of

  953. fire.

  954. In Revelation

    Revelation 21:8

  955. 21,

  956. verse 8,

  957. what saves

  958. us from

  959. ultimate

  960. judgment is

  961. not our

  962. being brave,

  963. but the

  964. Lord Jesus.

  965. But,

  966. the point

  967. of this

  968. connection that

  969. is being

  970. drawn with

  971. the lake

  972. of fire is

  973. that that

  974. kind of

  975. cowardice,

  976. that kind

  977. of fear,

  978. is not a

  979. characteristic

  980. of the

  981. people of

  982. God.

  983. It's not a

  984. characteristic of

  985. those who

  986. love the

  987. Lord Jesus

  988. and are

  989. his

  990. disciples.

  991. So,

  992. what do

  993. you do

  994. then,

  995. if you're

  996. like me,

  997. and you're

  998. just naturally

  999. inclined to

  1000. fearfulness,

  1001. or the rest

  1002. of you,

  1003. when sometimes

  1004. the,

  1005. well,

  1006. I won't even

  1007. speculate,

  1008. all kinds of

  1009. things that

  1010. cause you to

  1011. be afraid,

  1012. and you fear

  1013. that fear,

  1014. you feel that

  1015. fear welling up

  1016. within you,

  1017. then,

  1018. what do you

  1019. do?

  1020. How are we

  1021. to do?

  1022. Well,

  1023. we do

  1024. like Jesus

  1025. did when

  1026. Judas asked

  1027. him the

  1028. question.

  1029. We go

  1030. around the

  1031. barn one

  1032. more time.

  1033. We run

  1034. these things

  1035. before our

  1036. mind that

  1037. Jesus has

  1038. laid before

  1039. us,

  1040. and we

  1041. allow these

  1042. things to

  1043. give us

  1044. strength.

  1045. Run before

  1046. your mind

  1047. these points

  1048. if you're a

  1049. disciple of

  1050. Jesus.

  1051. In my

  1052. heart of

  1053. hearts,

  1054. I do

  1055. desire to

  1056. obey God's

  1057. word.

  1058. Point number

  1059. one.

  1060. Point number

  1061. two.

  1062. Therefore,

  1063. because of

  1064. what the

  1065. Lord says,

  1066. I know

  1067. that I

  1068. really do

  1069. love the

  1070. Lord.

  1071. I really

  1072. am his

  1073. disciple.

  1074. Point

  1075. three.

  1076. Jesus

  1077. has asked

  1078. the

  1079. Father.

  1080. Point

  1081. four.

  1082. The

  1083. Father

  1084. has sent

  1085. the

  1086. helper

  1087. to

  1088. those

  1089. who

  1090. love

  1091. Jesus.

  1092. There

  1093. is a

  1094. logical

  1095. connection

  1096. to

  1097. these

  1098. things.

  1099. And

  1100. finally,

  1101. point

  1102. five.

  1103. The

  1104. helper

  1105. is with

  1106. me

  1107. forever.

  1108. All

  1109. those

  1110. things we

  1111. just said,

  1112. the

  1113. helper

  1114. is with

  1115. me

  1116. forever.

  1117. The

  1118. helper

  1119. joins

  1120. me in

  1121. a real

  1122. and

  1123. living

  1124. union

  1125. with

  1126. the

  1127. Lord

  1128. Jesus,

  1129. with

  1130. the

  1131. Father.

  1132. He

  1133. brings

  1134. the

  1135. peace

  1136. of

  1137. Christ

  1138. to

  1139. me.

  1140. He

  1141. strengthens

  1142. me,

  1143. et cetera,

  1144. et cetera.

  1145. So

  1146. brothers

  1147. and

  1148. sisters,

  1149. when you

  1150. feel

  1151. the

  1152. icy

  1153. grip

  1154. of

  1155. fear

  1156. on

  1157. your

  1158. heart,

  1159. you

  1160. must

  1161. realize

  1162. that

  1163. you're

  1164. not

  1165. the

  1166. slave

  1167. of

  1168. that

  1169. fear

  1170. anymore

  1171. if

  1172. you're

  1173. a

  1174. disciple

  1175. of

  1176. the

  1177. Lord

  1178. Jesus

  1179. and

  1180. if

  1181. you

  1182. love

  1183. him.

  1184. Turn

  1185. to

  1186. this

  1187. passage.

  1188. Turn

  1189. to it

  1190. this

  1191. afternoon.

  1192. Turn

  1193. to it

  1194. again

  1195. and

  1196. again

  1197. when

  1198. you

  1199. feel

  1200. afraid.

  1201. let

  1202. its

  1203. truth

  1204. sink

  1205. deep

  1206. into

  1207. your

  1208. heart.

  1209. Then

  1210. you

  1211. will

  1212. be

  1213. able

  1214. to

  1215. obey

  1216. Jesus'

  1217. commandment

  1218. and

  1219. specifically

  1220. this

  1221. commandment.

  1222. Your

  1223. heart

  1224. must

  1225. not be

  1226. troubled

  1227. and

  1228. it

  1229. must

  1230. not

  1231. be

  1232. cowardly.

  1233. Amen.

  1234. Times

  1235. faith

  1236. when

  1237. ends

  1238. here

  1239. on

  1240. side

  1241. utes

  1242. where

  1243. it

  1244. is

  1245. said

  1246. and

  1247. they

  1248. know

  1249. they

  1250. can

  1251. show

  1252. them

  1253. the

  1254. bad

  1255. stories
