  1. I almost said, please be seated, because I'm used to saying that immediately after without having the choir have us be seated.

  2. I have an odd sense of humor. Because I'm married to a very sane woman, I'm often successful in keeping it in check.

  3. But when people have a first baby, you have to bring them a gift, you know, people you know, and what do you bring them as a first gift?

  4. And time after time, I've suggested to my wife that we bring them a toilet plunger, which I don't think anybody's ever given a new mom and a new dad having their first baby a toilet plunger, but it's actually a very practical gift.

  5. Those of you who have children know, what will a child do fairly soon after they can walk?

  6. They will throw something in the toilet.

  7. Virtually every child does it. Even the best behaved child will eventually make their way into the bathroom.

  8. They'll toddle in there, and one of the first things they'll do is they'll discover that if you do this flapping moment to the toilet paper roll, it will completely and utterly empty, and it's a very fun thing for a child to do.

  9. And another thing that they'll discover is that there's water to play with that they can reach, and they'll throw things, often the toilet paper, in fact, in, and maybe even flush it.

  10. So to give new parents a toilet plunger is actually a very practical gift, but my wife has never let me do it yet.

  11. The second thing, of course, that would be that all children do at some point in time is lock themselves in the bathroom.

  12. Virtually every child, once they get old enough, will figure out that they can go in the bathroom door, they can play around with it, and they can lock the bathroom,

  13. and almost every child will not only lock themselves in the bathroom, but not be able to figure out how to unlock themselves from the bathroom.

  14. I only read part of John 6 today, because it's a very, very long reading, but if later on you were to go back and read the rest of John 6,

  15. it continues to talk about Jesus being the bread of heaven, and later on it will tell you how we have to eat him,

  16. and eat his flesh, and drink his blood, and unless we eat his flesh and drink his blood, we have no part in him.

  17. And John 6 is probably one of the most controversial passages in the entire Bible.

  18. Between Protestants and Catholics and Orthodox and Coptic, it is a major point of division and difference in terms of how to interpret it.

  19. And I'm today going to really focus on one verse, which is the linchpin verse in the entire text.

  20. It's not only the linchpin, it's the foundation of the entire text, and it's John 6.35, where Jesus says,

  21. I have to put my glasses back on, where Jesus says,

  22. I am the bread of life, he who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.

  23. And if we want to understand this verse, and in fact all of John 6, we just have to remember three simple things.

  24. We have to think of the Lord's Prayer, we have to think of being a child locked in a bathroom,

  25. and we have to think of a wedding ceremony.

  26. And if we can sort of keep these three things before our mind,

  27. this verse starts to be more clear to us, as well as the entire chapter.

  28. First of all, the Lord's Prayer.

  29. We could just say it off by heart, because most of us probably do that,

  30. but it's a good thing occasionally to see where things come from in the Bible.

  31. So please take your pew Bibles and turn to Matthew chapter 6,

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  32. or take your own Bibles if you've brought your own Bible.

  33. Matthew chapter 6, verses 9 to 13.

    Matthew 6:9–13

  34. The reason the Lord's Prayer is called the Lord's Prayer is because it's a prayer which Jesus taught us to pray.

  35. And so some people say that John 17 should really be called the Lord's Prayer,

  36. because we have the high priestly prayer.

  37. But here is a prayer which Jesus taught us to pray,

  38. and we say it every Sunday, and here it is in this translation.

  39. And listen to it again.

  40. Matthew 6, verse 9 through 13, page 837 in your pew Bibles.

    Matthew 6:9–13

  41. In this manner, therefore, pray.

  42. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

  43. Your kingdom come.

  44. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

  45. Give us this day our daily bread,

  46. and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

  47. And do not lead us into temptation,

  48. but deliver us from the evil one.

  49. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.

  50. Amen.

  51. It's a wonderful and beautiful prayer.

  52. And you'll notice there, verse 11,

  53. give us this day our daily bread.

  54. I think every one of us knows instantly what that means.

  55. Obviously, it's not just praying for bread.

  56. I mean, they'd pray this prayer in China,

  57. where they eat very little bread,

  58. and rice would be the staple.

  59. And they'd use this prayer in South America,

  60. where tortillas might be more common,

  61. and bread wouldn't be as common.

  62. We all know, when we read this,

  63. that what Jesus is telling us to do,

  64. when we give us this day our daily bread,

  65. we're saying,

  66. the basic sustenance of life,

  67. the basic stuff that we need to eat

  68. and to receive every day,

  69. dear Father, give us.

  70. That's what Jesus is teaching us to pray.

  71. It's significant that he doesn't say,

  72. you know, please give us this day our daily,

  73. you know, our oysters and caviar and lobster tails

  74. and things which are really, really expensive

  75. and very, very fancy champagne.

  76. But it's almost a universal symbol,

  77. at least in Western lands,

  78. that bread,

  79. that asking for our daily bread

  80. is that we're asking God

  81. to give us the basic, basic, basic stuff

  82. that we need just to live.

  83. And Father, may you provide that for us.

  84. So now turn in your Bibles

  85. to John chapter 6, page 924.

    John 6 chapter mention

  86. And mindful of the Lord's Prayer,

  87. let's listen again to what Jesus says.

  88. I'm going to begin reading at verse 32,

  89. on page 924, John chapter 6.

    John 6 chapter mention

  90. Jesus said to them,

  91. Verily, verily, I say to you,

  92. Moses did not give you the bread from heaven,

  93. but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

  94. For the bread of God is he

  95. who comes down from heaven

  96. and gives life to the world.

  97. Then they said to him,

  98. Lord, give us this bread always.

  99. And Jesus said to them,

  100. I am the bread of life.

  101. He who comes to me shall never hunger,

  102. and he who believes in me

  103. shall never thirst.

  104. And mindful then of the Lord's Prayer,

  105. we can see that what Jesus is talking about here

  106. is a very, very powerful and simple image.

  107. Just as when we pray the Lord's Prayer,

  108. we're saying, you know,

  109. give us this day our daily bread,

  110. we're asking the Father who loves us

  111. to give us the basic stuff

  112. that we need to eat

  113. and be able to live.

  114. And we see here then when Jesus said

  115. that he is the bread of life,

  116. he is saying that the Father has provided

  117. the basic stuff that we need

  118. to have the life of heaven,

  119. to have everlasting life,

  120. to have eternal life,

  121. to have life of the age to come,

  122. to have life from above,

  123. a life which is different than this earthly life,

  124. that the very, very basic sustenance,

  125. the very, very basic stuff

  126. that we need to have

  127. to be able to live in heaven

  128. and live beyond the judgment

  129. and live for everlasting

  130. and live eternally,

  131. that very, very, very basic stuff

  132. God has provided.

  133. And it is the person of Jesus.

  134. It is not only the person of Jesus,

  135. but what the person of Jesus has accomplished.

  136. Remember that Jesus is described early on

  137. in John's Gospel

  138. as the Lamb of God

  139. who takes away the sin of the world.

  140. And if you were to go back

  141. and read John 6 very carefully,

  142. we're not going to go into

  143. all of the little nuances of it,

  144. we'll see that there's even images here

  145. of the crucifixion in John 6

  146. because the bread is given

  147. for the life of the world

  148. and there's this image

  149. and idea of sacrifice.

  150. But it is that the Father

  151. in the person of Jesus

  152. and in what Jesus is going to do

  153. upon the cross

  154. and in his resurrection

  155. that the basic sustenance,

  156. the basic stuff needed

  157. for eternal life

  158. is given to us

  159. from the Father.

  160. Now,

  161. I don't know if any of you

  162. have ever been hungry.

  163. Years ago,

  164. I used to hitchhike.

  165. I used to hitchhike all the time

  166. and I did some hitchhiking

  167. around Ontario

  168. and I remember being hungry

  169. and looking at food.

  170. And if you're hungry

  171. and you're looking at food,

  172. it doesn't really help you very much.

  173. It only makes you more hungry.

  174. You have to get the bread inside you.

  175. Right?

  176. I mean,

  177. bread on the outside

  178. is only good

  179. if you know that soon

  180. you're going to be able

  181. to eat that bread

  182. and to be filled.

  183. Food is only good

  184. if you can get it inside of you

  185. and it can quench your hunger.

  186. Listen again to what Jesus says

  187. in John 6, 35.

  188. I am the bread of life.

  189. He who comes to me

  190. shall never hunger

  191. and he who believes in me

  192. shall never thirst.

  193. You know,

  194. one of the reasons

  195. that we know

  196. that this isn't just referring

  197. to communion

  198. is because there's

  199. finality about there.

  200. Isn't it?

  201. Notice that again.

  202. It says,

  203. whoever comes to me

  204. shall never hunger

  205. and whoever believes

  206. and he who believes in me

  207. shall never thirst.

  208. It implies that

  209. there's a way of receiving

  210. the bread of heaven.

  211. There's a way of having

  212. the bread of heaven

  213. come to us

  214. in such a way

  215. that our life afterwards

  216. is completely

  217. and utterly different.

  218. There's,

  219. you know,

  220. one of the things

  221. about children

  222. being locked

  223. in the bathroom door.

  224. Remember I said

  225. we needed three things

  226. to understand this text.

  227. We had to think

  228. of the Lord's Prayer.

  229. We had to think

  230. of a child

  231. locked in a bathroom

  232. and we have to think

  233. of a marriage ceremony

  234. to be able

  235. to understand this text.

  236. And I'm going to play around

  237. with the image

  238. a little bit

  239. but,

  240. you know,

  241. one of the things

  242. about a child

  243. locked in a bathroom

  244. is at first

  245. the child doesn't realize

  246. that they're locked

  247. in the bathroom.

  248. They're happy

  249. unrolling the toilet paper,

  250. playing in the toilet,

  251. squeezing the toothpaste,

  252. crayoning the walls,

  253. whatever it is

  254. that they're doing

  255. and they're peace

  256. and quiet,

  257. completely and utterly

  258. contented

  259. while they're making mischief.

  260. But then,

  261. they maybe decide

  262. that they'd like

  263. to go see their mommy

  264. or their daddy

  265. and they go

  266. to open the door

  267. and they cannot

  268. open the door.

  269. And that's when

  270. their tension

  271. starts to rise.

  272. Maybe they try

  273. and try and try

  274. and try and try

  275. but at some point

  276. in time

  277. they start to wail

  278. and to cry

  279. looking for someone

  280. to come

  281. and open the door.

  282. You know,

  283. and here I'm going

  284. to sort of mix images

  285. a little bit.

  286. You have to be pretty quick

  287. to catch these two images.

  288. But one of the most famous

  289. images in the Bible

  290. and it's been the subject

  291. of a famous painting

  292. is the image

  293. of Jesus standing

  294. at the door

  295. of our lives

  296. and knocking

  297. at the door

  298. of our lives

  299. to come in.

  300. It's one of the most famous

  301. things.

  302. It comes from the book

  303. of Revelation chapter 3

    Revelation 3 chapter mention

  304. and Revelation chapter 3

    Revelation 3 chapter mention

  305. is in a sense

  306. picturing us

  307. like a house

  308. with a door

  309. and Jesus

  310. is on the outside

  311. of our house

  312. the outside

  313. of the door

  314. and he wants

  315. to come in

  316. and he's knocking

  317. and knocking

  318. and knocking

  319. and knocking.

  320. You know,

  321. one of the things

  322. which is so comforting

  323. about the gospel

  324. is Leah

  325. I've mentioned earlier

  326. Andrew's

  327. and Lisa's

  328. new daughter

  329. was born

  330. at 7 o'clock

  331. in the morning

  332. on Friday

  333. and now she would be

  334. 27,

  335. no,

  336. 48,

  337. 51 hours old,

  338. 52 hours old.

  339. For 52 hours

  340. Jesus has been

  341. knocking on Leah's

  342. the door of her heart

  343. and at no point

  344. in time

  345. in Leah's life

  346. until she lets him in

  347. Jesus will always

  348. be there

  349. knocking

  350. and knocking

  351. and knocking

  352. and here's where

  353. the images get

  354. a little bit confused.

  355. Okay,

  356. you have to be

  357. with me here.

  358. I apologize for this.

  359. You know,

  360. many of us

  361. our life

  362. in church

  363. is like the child

  364. in the bathroom

  365. and we know

  366. that our mommy

  367. and daddy

  368. is off somewhere

  369. in the house

  370. and they're doing

  371. their stuff

  372. and we're quite content

  373. in our little

  374. cozy bathroom

  375. coloring on the walls

  376. playing with the

  377. toilet paper

  378. squeezing the toothpaste

  379. and doing the mischief

  380. that we're doing

  381. in our little room

  382. and we feel pretty

  383. safe and secure

  384. because we're in

  385. this little room

  386. and mommy

  387. and daddy

  388. is off there

  389. and many people

  390. that's what church

  391. is to them.

  392. Maybe you don't get

  393. into mischief

  394. in church

  395. but church

  396. is sort of

  397. a cozy place

  398. and they sort of

  399. have this sense

  400. that God is off

  401. with Jesus

  402. and the Holy Spirit

  403. doing something

  404. somewhere

  405. but they know

  406. we're all in the same house

  407. and God is out there

  408. and we're sort of

  409. having our cozy

  410. little time

  411. within the walls

  412. and then maybe

  413. something happens

  414. a sickness

  415. or a tragedy

  416. at work

  417. or some pressure

  418. builds up within us

  419. and we call out

  420. to God

  421. and we start

  422. to wail to God

  423. and call out

  424. to him

  425. who's on the other

  426. side of that door

  427. and many people

  428. they live their entire lives

  429. very very content

  430. just to have God

  431. on the other side

  432. of that door

  433. knowing that

  434. when things get

  435. very desperate

  436. they can slip God

  437. a note underneath

  438. the door

  439. they can talk to him

  440. through the keyhole

  441. but the scripture says

  442. that Jesus

  443. desires

  444. to come in

  445. and it pictures

  446. us

  447. then

  448. as if

  449. we are

  450. inside of a room

  451. the room

  452. the room of myself

  453. the room of my soul

  454. the room of my body

  455. and Jesus

  456. is knocking

  457. to get in

  458. and the Christian life

  459. really begins

  460. when I open the door

  461. and let Jesus

  462. come in

  463. I don't have to be

  464. like a child

  465. feeling he's locked

  466. or she's locked

  467. in a room

  468. wailing for Jesus

  469. or content

  470. to have Jesus

  471. out there

  472. somewhere in the distance

  473. that the whole

  474. Christian life

  475. really truly begins

  476. when I realize

  477. that Jesus

  478. doesn't have to be

  479. out there

  480. that he wants

  481. to be

  482. in here

  483. and so

  484. I open the door

  485. of my life

  486. and I look at Jesus

  487. and I in a sense

  488. say Jesus

  489. you've been knocking

  490. to come in

  491. please come in

  492. I invite you

  493. to come in

  494. I give you

  495. permission

  496. to come in

  497. I'd love it

  498. if you came in

  499. and that's when

  500. the Christian life

  501. really truly begins

  502. when we ask Jesus

  503. to come into

  504. the door of our lives

  505. and live within

  506. and you see

  507. that's why

  508. in this text

  509. there is this idea

  510. of some dramatic

  511. change

  512. which happens

  513. once again

  514. listen to verse 35

  515. I am the bread of life

  516. he who comes to me

  517. shall never hunger

  518. and he who believes

  519. in me

  520. shall never thirst

  521. it's telling us

  522. that the bread of heaven

  523. the stuff

  524. of everlasting life

  525. and eternal life

  526. the basic sustenance

  527. for that

  528. can't just stay

  529. outside of us

  530. it has to get

  531. within us

  532. and once it gets

  533. within us

  534. there is a finality

  535. and a change

  536. that takes place

  537. because it's no

  538. not no longer

  539. something that we

  540. look at out there

  541. it is now

  542. something which is

  543. within

  544. and that by the way

  545. is is all the thing

  546. that's going through

  547. of John 6

  548. about eating

  549. and believing

  550. and seeing

  551. and all of the text

  552. is trying to say

  553. to us

  554. listen

  555. Jesus is the bread

  556. of life

  557. get him inside

  558. of you

  559. and you know

  560. whatever the imagery

  561. that Jesus is able

  562. to use in John

  563. it's all an imagery

  564. of you have to

  565. get him

  566. inside

  567. now how does

  568. the inside

  569. part

  570. come in this text

  571. listen again

  572. to the verse

  573. it goes like this

  574. I am the bread

  575. of life

  576. he who comes

  577. to me

  578. shall never

  579. hunger

  580. and he who

  581. believes in me

  582. shall never

  583. thirst

  584. now notice

  585. that there is

  586. coming to Jesus

  587. and believing

  588. in Jesus

  589. and that these

  590. two things

  591. are sort of

  592. seem to be

  593. related

  594. not quite

  595. parallel

  596. but complementary

  597. where is it

  598. in life

  599. that you have

  600. this combination

  601. of coming

  602. and believing

  603. coming together

  604. and believing

  605. well the first

  606. thing to understand

  607. is that in the

  608. New Testament

  609. when the word

  610. believing is used

  611. it never is

  612. referring to

  613. something

  614. of the mind

  615. primarily

  616. believing

  617. isn't something

  618. primarily of the

  619. mind

  620. in other words

  621. it's not that we

  622. have to have

  623. certain thoughts

  624. in our head

  625. that we have to

  626. assent

  627. to certain thoughts

  628. or certain

  629. beliefs

  630. or certain

  631. ideas

  632. or certain

  633. phrases

  634. it's not a matter

  635. of knowing

  636. things about

  637. Jesus

  638. that we

  639. can assent

  640. to

  641. and it's

  642. not primarily

  643. referring to

  644. something of

  645. the heart

  646. which is

  647. emotions

  648. because as

  649. you know

  650. we all

  651. on one level

  652. can make

  653. emotions

  654. come to us

  655. we feel like

  656. having a good

  657. cry

  658. or we feel

  659. like getting

  660. angry

  661. and so we

  662. can sort of

  663. evoke anger

  664. or a good cry

  665. or whatever

  666. within us

  667. but ultimately

  668. the things of the

  669. heart are things

  670. like a storm

  671. that blows in

  672. and blows out

  673. that in fact

  674. the word

  675. believing

  676. primarily refers

  677. to an act

  678. of the will

  679. not

  680. I mean the mind

  681. is involved

  682. and the heart

  683. is involved

  684. the heart

  685. rejoices

  686. the mind

  687. descents

  688. but it's

  689. primarily

  690. something

  691. of the will

  692. so where

  693. is it

  694. that we

  695. see a picture

  696. of coming

  697. together

  698. and believing

  699. well

  700. I've been

  701. very blessed

  702. on Friday night

  703. I did a wedding

  704. and on Saturday

  705. afternoon

  706. I did a wedding

  707. on Saturday

  708. and Nadia

  709. and I

  710. were here

  711. Nadia played

  712. the organ

  713. I did a wedding

  714. for a young woman

  715. who comes to the

  716. 915 service

  717. Emma

  718. and in three weeks

  719. time

  720. if you were here

  721. at the 915 service

  722. I used the young woman

  723. sitting right there

  724. who was helping

  725. with the overhead

  726. projector

  727. Kendra

  728. many of you

  729. might know her

  730. she is going

  731. to be marrying

  732. Jeremy

  733. right up here

  734. right where I'm

  735. pointing

  736. right there

  737. on the 4th of November

  738. Kendra and Jeremy

  739. are going to get married

  740. and if you come

  741. to this Anglican wedding

  742. you would see

  743. and by the way

  744. Kendra's invited

  745. all of you

  746. to come to the wedding

  747. if you come

  748. to the wedding

  749. you'll see

  750. perfectly illustrated

  751. what Jesus refers

  752. to as coming

  753. to him

  754. and believing

  755. in him

  756. because here's

  757. how an Anglican

  758. wedding works

  759. whatever

  760. it's at 4 o'clock

  761. I can't remember

  762. what time

  763. the wedding's at

  764. but let's say

  765. it's at 4 o'clock

  766. at 4 o'clock

  767. Jeremy

  768. and his best man

  769. and his groomsman

  770. will be behind

  771. that door

  772. out of sight

  773. and Kendra

  774. with her dad

  775. and her mom

  776. and with her bridesmaids

  777. will be behind

  778. that door

  779. out of sight

  780. and when everything

  781. is completely

  782. ready to go

  783. I think this is

  784. how they're doing it

  785. the bride's mother

  786. will be escorted

  787. to her seat

  788. the final one

  789. seated

  790. and then I will

  791. come out of that door

  792. with Jeremy

  793. and the other men

  794. and Jeremy

  795. and the men

  796. will stand

  797. at the front

  798. of the church

  799. facing the front

  800. back to the door

  801. and I will stand

  802. on that steps

  803. and I will say

  804. ladies and gentlemen

  805. please rise

  806. and greet the bride

  807. and at that point

  808. in time

  809. the music begins

  810. the congregation

  811. turns

  812. Jeremy

  813. and the men

  814. turn to face

  815. the back

  816. and the bridesmaids

  817. start to come

  818. into the church

  819. and eventually

  820. Kendra will come

  821. into the church

  822. and Kendra

  823. and James

  824. will come together

  825. and meet

  826. right there

  827. and then after

  828. I give some

  829. housekeeping instructions

  830. and after we

  831. describe what

  832. the purpose

  833. of marriage is

  834. and after we

  835. have scripture

  836. read

  837. and after I

  838. talk a few minutes

  839. about what

  840. Christian marriage is

  841. and what the

  842. scriptures have said

  843. then I will say

  844. to Jeremy

  845. Jeremy do you

  846. intend to be

  847. Kendra's husband

  848. forever

  849. and he'll say

  850. I will

  851. and then I'll say

  852. to Kendra

  853. do you intend

  854. to be Jeremy's

  855. wife forever

  856. and she'll say

  857. I will

  858. and then I'll

  859. have Kendra

  860. hand off her

  861. bouquet

  862. to the bridesmaid

  863. and James

  864. I mean Jeremy

  865. will turn to face

  866. Kendra

  867. and Kendra

  868. will turn to face

  869. Jeremy

  870. and they have

  871. nothing in their

  872. hands

  873. and I instruct

  874. Jeremy to have

  875. his hands like

  876. this down

  877. because it's the

  878. posture of taking

  879. and Kendra

  880. will put her

  881. hands

  882. in Jeremy's

  883. hands

  884. and Jeremy

  885. will say

  886. I Jeremy

  887. take you

  888. Kendra

  889. to be

  890. my wife

  891. to have

  892. and to hold

  893. from this

  894. day forward

  895. for richer

  896. for poorer

  897. for better

  898. or worse

  899. sickness

  900. and health

  901. this is my

  902. solemn vow

  903. and then I'll say

  904. that's very lovely

  905. and I'll have

  906. Kendra and Jeremy

  907. momentarily break

  908. their hands

  909. and then Kendra

  910. will have her

  911. hands down

  912. like this

  913. open

  914. in a position

  915. of taking

  916. and Jeremy

  917. will put his

  918. hands in hers

  919. and then Kendra

  920. will say

  921. I Kendra

  922. take you

  923. Jeremy

  924. to be my

  925. husband

  926. to have

  927. and hold

  928. from this

  929. day forward

  930. for better

  931. for worse

  932. for richer

  933. for poorer

  934. on and on

  935. and on

  936. this is my

  937. solemn vow

  938. they have

  939. come together

  940. and they

  941. have believed

  942. an act

  943. of the will

  944. the will

  945. is used

  946. to take

  947. the other

  948. person

  949. to allow

  950. the other

  951. person

  952. to come

  953. into their

  954. lives

  955. to pledge

  956. themselves

  957. to that

  958. other person

  959. in an

  960. Anglican

  961. wedding

  962. ceremony

  963. you see

  964. between Kendra

  965. and Jeremy

  966. what Jesus

  967. desires

  968. between you

  969. and me

  970. he is

  971. the bread

  972. of life

  973. that has

  974. come from

  975. heaven

  976. he is the

  977. one who

  978. is the

  979. very sustenance

  980. that we

  981. need

  982. to have

  983. the life

  984. to come

  985. eternal

  986. life

  987. everlasting

  988. life

  989. he is

  990. the very

  991. very

  992. sustenance

  993. which we

  994. need

  995. and it's

  996. no good

  997. if we

  998. just look

  999. at him

  1000. we need

  1001. to have

  1002. him

  1003. inside

  1004. of us

  1005. we need

  1006. to have

  1007. a way

  1008. to have

  1009. him

  1010. come

  1011. inside

  1012. and how

  1013. do we

  1014. do

  1015. Jesus

  1016. says

  1017. if you

  1018. come to

  1019. me

  1020. and if

  1021. you

  1022. believe

  1023. and we

  1024. can just

  1025. think of

  1026. Kendra

  1027. and Jeremy

  1028. of the

  1029. coming

  1030. together

  1031. of the

  1032. opening

  1033. of the

  1034. hands

  1035. and of

  1036. saying

  1037. I give

  1038. myself

  1039. to you

  1040. Jesus

  1041. and Jesus

  1042. says to

  1043. us

  1044. I give

  1045. myself

  1046. to you

  1047. for better

  1048. for worse

  1049. for richer

  1050. for poor

  1051. in sickness

  1052. and health

  1053. forever

  1054. and ever

  1055. and ever

  1056. and that's

  1057. how the

  1058. Christian

  1059. life

  1060. begins

  1061. so some

  1062. of you

  1063. maybe are

  1064. wondering

  1065. how does

  1066. this

  1067. believing

  1068. stuff

  1069. work

  1070. and it's

  1071. not a matter

  1072. of trying

  1073. to screw

  1074. up a

  1075. particular

  1076. type of

  1077. emotion

  1078. in your

  1079. life

  1080. it's not

  1081. a matter

  1082. of trying

  1083. to believe

  1084. certain

  1085. things

  1086. in your

  1087. life

  1088. in a

  1089. sense

  1090. what I'm

  1091. telling

  1092. today

  1093. is this

  1094. if you

  1095. haven't

  1096. done

  1097. this

  1098. yet

  1099. picture

  1100. yourself

  1101. at the

  1102. front

  1103. of the

  1104. church

  1105. and picture

  1106. yourself

  1107. looking to

  1108. Jesus

  1109. and saying

  1110. Jesus

  1111. you are

  1112. the bread

  1113. of life

  1114. you are

  1115. the sustenance

  1116. of heaven

  1117. you are

  1118. what I

  1119. need

  1120. to have

  1121. eternal

  1122. life in

  1123. me

  1124. and picture

  1125. looking at

  1126. Jesus

  1127. with your

  1128. hands open

  1129. and saying

  1130. Jesus

  1131. I take

  1132. you

  1133. and then

  1134. picture

  1135. Jesus

  1136. putting

  1137. his hands

  1138. out

  1139. and you

  1140. putting

  1141. your hands

  1142. in him

  1143. and saying

  1144. and Jesus

  1145. says to

  1146. you

  1147. I take

  1148. you

  1149. and that's

  1150. how the

  1151. Christian

  1152. life begins

  1153. let's bow

  1154. our heads

  1155. in prayer
