  1. Luke chapter 8, we're going to read from verse 22 to the end of the chapter,

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  2. a day in the life of Jesus.

  3. So page 1037, as we look at this day in the life of Jesus.

  4. So let's hear God's word together.

  5. One day, Jesus said to his disciples, let's go over to the other side of the lake.

  6. So they got into a boat and set out.

  7. As they sailed, he fell asleep.

  8. A squall came down on the lake so that the boat was being swamped and they were in great danger.

  9. The disciples went and woke him saying, master, master, we're going to drown.

  10. He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters.

  11. The storm subsided and all was calm.

  12. Where is your faith?

  13. He asked his disciples.

  14. In fear and amazement, they asked one another, who is this?

  15. He commands even the winds and the water and they obey him.

  16. They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee.

  17. When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town.

  18. For a long time, this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.

  19. When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice,

  20. what do you want with me, Jesus, son of the most high God?

  21. I beg you, don't torture me.

  22. For Jesus had commanded the evil spirit to come out of the man.

  23. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard,

  24. he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.

  25. Jesus asked him, what is your name?

  26. Legion, he replied, because many demons had gone into him.

  27. And they begged him repeatedly not to order them to go into the abyss.

  28. A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside.

  29. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into them, and he gave them permission.

  30. When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs,

  31. and they heard rust down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.

  32. When those tending the pigs saw what had happened,

  33. they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside,

  34. and the people went out to see what had happened.

  35. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out,

  36. sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind.

  37. And they were afraid.

  38. Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.

  39. Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them,

  40. because they were overcome with fear.

  41. So he got into the boat and left.

  42. The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him,

  43. but Jesus sent him away, saying,

  44. return home and tell how much God has done for you.

  45. So the man went away and told all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.

  46. Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.

  47. Then a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus' feet,

  48. pleading with him to come to his house,

  49. because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.

  50. As Jesus was on his way, the crowd almost crushed him.

  51. And a woman who was there had been subject to bleeding for twelve years,

  52. but no one could heal her.

  53. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak,

  54. and immediately her bleeding stopped.

  55. Who touched me?

  56. Jesus asked.

  57. When they all denied it, Peter said,

  58. Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.

  59. But Jesus said, someone touched me.

  60. I know that power has gone out from me.

  61. Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed,

  62. came trembling and fell at his feet.

  63. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him

  64. and how she had been instantly healed.

  65. Then he said to her,

  66. Daughter, your faith has healed you.

  67. Go in peace.

  68. While Jesus was still speaking,

  69. someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler.

  70. Your daughter is dead, he said.

  71. Don't bother the teacher anymore.

  72. Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus,

  73. Don't be afraid.

  74. Just believe, and she will be healed.

  75. When he arrived at the house of Jairus,

  76. he did not let anyone go in with him

  77. except Peter, John, and James,

  78. and the child's father and mother.

  79. Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her.

  80. Stop wailing, Jesus said.

  81. She is not dead, but asleep.

  82. They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.

  83. But he took her by the hand and said,

  84. My child, get up.

  85. Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up.

  86. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.

  87. Her parents were astonished,

  88. but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

  89. Amen.

  90. We're continuing with this study,

  91. enjoying God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

  92. thinking about how the way the three persons of the Trinity relate to us

  93. and how we relate to them can help us in our walk of faith.

  94. And today we're going to think about the truth

  95. that in every pain and trouble we experience,

  96. we can enjoy the Son's presence.

  97. It was probably about this time last year,

  98. I think, that as a church,

  99. we thought about the fact that God is eternal and unchanging,

  100. and that's good news.

  101. This evening we're thinking about the fact that Jesus is unchanging,

  102. that as Hebrews 13 says,

  103. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

  104. And I want us to think about why that's particularly good news for us

  105. when we find ourselves walking through pain and suffering.

  106. And it's good news for us as we remember that what Jesus was then,

  107. as we encounter him in the Gospels,

  108. Jesus is now and always will be for his people.

  109. It's good for us to remember that while we are always changing,

  110. that while our response to others is affected by all kinds of things,

  111. by our own personal circumstances,

  112. by our physical well-being or otherwise,

  113. by the emotions or stresses that we go through,

  114. the same is not true of Jesus.

  115. That while our ability to help others has limits,

  116. there are those drains on our resources.

  117. We have our own stuff to deal with.

  118. People talk about compassion fatigue.

  119. We see so much suffering on our screens

  120. that we can become immune to feeling pain

  121. and expressing sympathy.

  122. When we do invest in others,

  123. there's an emotional drain that makes it hard for us sometimes

  124. to do that for the long haul.

  125. And again, that's not like Jesus.

  126. So Jesus is like us in that he became one of us,

  127. in that he experienced weakness and suffering,

  128. and so is able to sympathize with us.

  129. But he is unlike us in that he is eternal God,

  130. in that he has unlimited resources.

  131. And here in this context,

  132. that means he has unlimited resources for caring for you and for me.

  133. And we meet in Jesus someone who is never too busy,

  134. never too tired,

  135. never too preoccupied to care for us.

  136. We find in Jesus someone who never becomes desensitized

  137. to our pain and suffering.

  138. Jesus knows everything that's happening all around the world,

  139. and yet he cares for each one of us.

  140. We are precious to him.

  141. So it is good news for us to recognize that Jesus is unchanging.

  142. The character of Jesus we discover in the Gospels

  143. is the character of the Jesus who sits in heaven for us.

  144. So I want us to do this evening

  145. is just to look at a few hours in the life of Jesus

  146. that we find here in Luke chapter 8

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  147. in order to give us hope,

  148. to remind ourselves that in every pain,

  149. we can enjoy the Son's presence.

  150. So we're going to look at verse 40 to verse 56.

  151. And we're going to discover there,

  152. as we have already,

  153. two very different people,

  154. but they have one shared need.

  155. Now one of the things about the way

  156. the Gospel writers put their Gospels together

  157. is that they typically move from one person's story

  158. to another person's story,

  159. to some teaching of Jesus,

  160. and it can feel very busy.

  161. I think we all appreciate Jesus lived a very busy life,

  162. but sometimes it can seem quite well-ordered

  163. and structured from here to here to here.

  164. But Luke, in this little section,

  165. it shows us Jesus in his extreme busyness,

  166. but also these different complex needs

  167. pressing in at once.

  168. And what we see at the same time

  169. is Jesus showing compassion, love, and power

  170. for whoever comes to him,

  171. making time for them,

  172. serving, healing, saving.

  173. So let's meet these two people

  174. with one shared need who come to Jesus.

  175. First of all, let's think about Jairus.

  176. Who is Jairus?

  177. Verse 41, we discover something of him.

  178. Then a man named Jairus,

  179. a ruler of the synagogue,

  180. came and fell at Jesus' feet,

  181. pleading with him to come to his house,

  182. because his only daughter,

  183. a girl of about 12, was dying.

  184. So he's a ruler of the synagogue.

  185. So we're presented with somebody

  186. who is part of the religious elite,

  187. somebody who had a reputation for godliness,

  188. somebody who is able to understand

  189. and to teach the Bible.

  190. And in that day,

  191. to be part of the religious elite

  192. meant you had high status in society.

  193. But we know something else about Jairus.

  194. Despite all of that privilege

  195. and status and standing,

  196. he is also in a desperate nightmare situation.

  197. Ask any parent their worst fear,

  198. and this is it.

  199. This is Jairus' experience.

  200. And so what we discover about Jairus

  201. is that he forgets his status

  202. to come to Jesus,

  203. to fall on his knees,

  204. to publicly beg and plead for help.

  205. Jesus is his only hope,

  206. and he knows it.

  207. So that's Jairus.

  208. But he's not the only person we meet.

  209. As Jesus walks towards Jairus' house,

  210. we also meet a woman unnamed.

  211. Verse 43, what do we learn about her?

  212. A woman was there who'd been subject to bleeding

  213. for 12 years,

  214. but no one could heal her.

  215. In other accounts,

  216. we discover she spent all her money

  217. going to different doctors,

  218. but nobody could help.

  219. But we certainly know this lady

  220. is on the other end of the social spectrum.

  221. For 12 years,

  222. she has been suffering physically with bleeding.

  223. The same length of time

  224. that Jairus' daughter has been alive,

  225. she has suffered from bleeding.

  226. And because of that bleeding,

  227. she is regarded as being religiously unclean.

  228. Jairus, worship leader,

  229. this woman denied access to worship.

  230. Jairus at the center of society,

  231. this lady socially isolated.

  232. Nobody wants to come into contact with her

  233. lest they too become unclean.

  234. So she is penniless,

  235. she is hopeless,

  236. but she comes to Jesus in her need.

  237. So they're different in so many ways,

  238. in terms of gender,

  239. in terms of class,

  240. in terms of religious worship,

  241. even in terms of how they approach.

  242. Jairus comes publicly,

  243. this woman comes privately, secretly.

  244. But they're the same in this one crucial way.

  245. There is a situation they are facing

  246. that lies beyond human help.

  247. And they both make the same response.

  248. They turn to Jesus.

  249. It's interesting,

  250. as Luke presents us with these two stories,

  251. he's also at the same time

  252. pointing us towards the fact

  253. that there were large crowds present.

  254. It seems like wherever Jesus went,

  255. there were lots of people who would gather

  256. who seemed to be there,

  257. at least in part for the show.

  258. What will Jesus do next?

  259. But not these two.

  260. These two came in their need

  261. and they came with faith.

  262. And as we read their stories,

  263. we're also discovering

  264. the unchanging Savior, Jesus.

  265. He is the one who will help them both.

  266. He is not distant.

  267. He is not disinterested.

  268. He makes time for them both.

  269. And we are invited to learn from them

  270. to run to Jesus

  271. in our pain,

  272. through our tears,

  273. with the shame that we carry.

  274. When we think about our own circumstances,

  275. what is that pain?

  276. What is that burden that you carry?

  277. Jesus says,

  278. Jesus says,

  279. come to me,

  280. take your burden to me,

  281. find rest from me.

  282. And remember this Jesus,

  283. his heart is as big as ever it was.

  284. He sympathizes,

  285. and he draws near,

  286. and he is strong to comfort,

  287. and he is mighty to save.

  288. Or maybe like this woman,

  289. it's shame that we wear.

  290. Perhaps because of failures in our past.

  291. Perhaps because of addictions that we wrestle with,

  292. patterns of sin that we struggle with.

  293. Jesus knows our shame,

  294. and he can give us peace.

  295. He can clothe us with his honor.

  296. Maybe we come with doubts and fears this evening

  297. when we think about our situation and our struggles.

  298. I don't think anyone else would understand

  299. what I'm going through.

  300. Perhaps we feel overwhelmed,

  301. and we find ourselves,

  302. I can't face this alone.

  303. Where can I turn?

  304. As we think about these stories,

  305. and as we think about our unchanging Savior,

  306. we're invited to see Jesus as the answer for our fear.

  307. To think of him in heaven,

  308. that unchanging Savior,

  309. still for his people,

  310. wanting to love us.

  311. So let's think of these two different stories.

  312. Let's think of these stories of faith,

  313. and let's think some more about our strong Savior.

  314. It's interesting,

  315. when Luke has written his account here,

  316. we're invited to see two healing stories,

  317. but the word for healing in the Greek

  318. is literally saved.

  319. When the woman is healed,

  320. in verse 43 and 44,

  321. and then in the presence of all the people,

  322. verse 47,

  323. she told why she touched him

  324. and how she'd been instantly healed.

  325. And Jesus says in verse 48,

  326. your faith has healed you.

  327. Those healed words are the same as the word saved.

  328. And same when Jesus raises Jairus' daughter

  329. from death,

  330. healing and salvation.

  331. Why combine the two?

  332. Because in these healing stories,

  333. we're being shown a window

  334. into the kingdom to come.

  335. And we are being invited to see

  336. in all of the miracle stories,

  337. here is how the world was meant to be,

  338. and here is how the world will one day be.

  339. Remember that rich and glorious promise

  340. at the end of Revelation?

  341. The hope for the people of God

  342. is a renewed world.

  343. Will there be no more pain or tears

  344. or sadness or death?

  345. Jesus is giving us a window

  346. into that great hope.

  347. These miracle stories are a lens

  348. through which to view Jesus, the Savior,

  349. to see that he truly is

  350. the resurrection and the life,

  351. to see that he is the one who has come

  352. to make everything new,

  353. including us.

  354. In the time of Jesus,

  355. it happened then,

  356. often for us,

  357. our hope of healing and deliverance.

  358. Maybe lands in eternity,

  359. but still we trust in this same Savior

  360. who has come as the servant of the Lord

  361. in order to give the hope

  362. of new and perfect life.

  363. So let's take a look at these two stories

  364. of faith and salvation.

  365. We'll begin with the woman.

  366. So in verse 44,

  367. we discover that she comes behind Jesus,

  368. secretly touches the edge of his cloak,

  369. and immediately her bleeding stopped.

  370. Who touched me?

  371. Jesus asked.

  372. Master, the people are crowding

  373. and pressing against you,

  374. but Jesus said,

  375. someone touched me.

  376. I know that power has gone out from me.

  377. That question, who touched me,

  378. may or may not be similar

  379. to the question that God asks

  380. in Genesis chapter 3.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  381. As Adam and Eve,

  382. in their sin,

  383. in their sense of shame,

  384. try and hide from God,

  385. God comes into the garden

  386. and asks Adam and Eve,

  387. where are you?

  388. In that case,

  389. God is not ignorant of the situation.

  390. He wants to draw them out for their good.

  391. It may very well be that Jesus

  392. is doing the same thing here.

  393. Jesus wants to draw this woman out

  394. to speak to her for her sake

  395. and for the sake of the crowd

  396. to make it clear that her faith,

  397. as Jesus says in verse 48,

  398. has healed her.

  399. But maybe it might be helpful for us to think,

  400. well, why has she come secretly to Jesus?

  401. Why hasn't she done what Jairus did,

  402. fall on her knees and beg?

  403. Most likely because of these 12 years

  404. of being isolated and unclean.

  405. Most likely because of a fear of rejection.

  406. People may have been offended

  407. by her attempt to get close to Jesus

  408. and by extension getting close to them.

  409. She may have worried about humiliation,

  410. so she came privately.

  411. But yet she came with faith.

  412. Jesus can identify the touch of faith.

  413. And so as he's dealing with

  414. the critical situation of Jairus,

  415. he still makes time to stop.

  416. So let's think, why does Jesus stop?

  417. One thing that becomes clear

  418. is Jesus stops,

  419. so this woman can give clear testimony

  420. to the work of Jesus in her life.

  421. She has moved from being

  422. a secret believer in Jesus

  423. to being a powerful public witness

  424. for Jesus.

  425. Here she is before Jesus

  426. and before the crowds,

  427. and she's saying,

  428. well, here was my life before Jesus.

  429. This is what has brought me here.

  430. I came in my needs

  431. and my uncleanness

  432. and my suffering.

  433. This was my identity.

  434. Isolated, unable to worship.

  435. I came with faith

  436. and I stand before you

  437. healed and saved

  438. by Jesus' power

  439. and by Jesus' grace.

  440. So by Jesus stopping,

  441. he has allowed this woman

  442. to publicly share her story

  443. and to share it in such a way

  444. that glory is given to God

  445. and honor is given to Jesus.

  446. Jesus.

  447. That's a wonderful moment

  448. for her life.

  449. I wonder if you and I

  450. have had that privilege

  451. of telling our own story

  452. in that same way.

  453. This is what I was like.

  454. This was my past.

  455. Then I met Jesus

  456. and this is the difference

  457. that he has made.

  458. It can be a very useful piece

  459. of homework

  460. to think for ourselves.

  461. If I had two minutes,

  462. three minutes to talk

  463. to a friend

  464. or a family member

  465. about what my faith

  466. is all about,

  467. how would I do that

  468. in such a way

  469. that like this woman,

  470. glory is given to Jesus.

  471. So Jesus stops

  472. so this woman

  473. can give testimony.

  474. Jesus stops also

  475. so that we can get

  476. an understanding

  477. into the transfer

  478. that has taken place.

  479. So normally,

  480. and you find this

  481. all through the Old Testament laws,

  482. if a person

  483. who is unclean

  484. touched another person,

  485. and then the uncleanness

  486. transferred to them.

  487. But here,

  488. what we discover

  489. rather is that

  490. Jesus' cleanness

  491. flows to her.

  492. She is instantly healed.

  493. She is instantly

  494. made clean.

  495. In this battle,

  496. I'm at the stage

  497. where we think

  498. about superheroes

  499. and battles.

  500. Here is Jesus

  501. and his power

  502. is greater.

  503. The force of uncleanness

  504. is no match

  505. for the perfect holiness

  506. of Jesus,

  507. the Savior.

  508. In the Old Testament,

  509. all those laws

  510. about uncleanness

  511. were because uncleanness

  512. represented sin.

  513. So in this wonderful

  514. little moment,

  515. Jesus is reminding us

  516. his grace,

  517. his power,

  518. his love

  519. is greater than

  520. our sin.

  521. It has the power

  522. to deal with

  523. to remove

  524. sin.

  525. And ultimately,

  526. we see that

  527. at the cross

  528. where Jesus dies

  529. and he disarms

  530. the powers

  531. and authorities

  532. that were

  533. against us.

  534. He cancels

  535. the record

  536. of our debt

  537. against God

  538. that stood

  539. against us

  540. so that by faith

  541. we too

  542. become clean

  543. through contact

  544. with Jesus

  545. and that transfer

  546. that takes place.

  547. Then one other

  548. significant thing

  549. about this

  550. stopping of Jesus

  551. is that it confirms

  552. to this woman

  553. a change

  554. of relationship.

  555. See how Jesus

  556. speaks of her

  557. in verse 48.

  558. Then he said

  559. to her,

  560. daughter,

  561. your faith

  562. has healed you.

  563. Go in peace.

  564. Wonderful message.

  565. Somebody who's lived

  566. in isolation

  567. for 12 years,

  568. now Jesus

  569. calls her

  570. daughter.

  571. The grace

  572. of God

  573. that adopts

  574. people

  575. into his family

  576. is a glorious

  577. thing.

  578. To remember

  579. Jesus,

  580. our elder brother,

  581. our strong

  582. savior,

  583. who's always

  584. present,

  585. the one who's

  586. brought that

  587. change of

  588. relationship

  589. is a wonderful

  590. thing.

  591. Philip Riken,

  592. the Bible teacher,

  593. said,

  594. Jesus had

  595. called this

  596. woman

  597. not to

  598. humiliate her,

  599. which perhaps

  600. she was used

  601. to,

  602. but to save

  603. her,

  604. to heal

  605. her,

  606. and to love

  607. her as God's

  608. own dear

  609. child.

  610. And nothing

  611. has changed

  612. because Jesus

  613. hasn't changed.

  614. We can come

  615. to him in our

  616. chaos.

  617. We can come

  618. near to him

  619. through our

  620. tears,

  621. and we too

  622. can leave

  623. with his

  624. peace,

  625. knowing his

  626. strong presence

  627. with us

  628. when our

  629. faith is in

  630. Jesus,

  631. the one who

  632. died and

  633. rose to

  634. rescue and

  635. to restore

  636. and to be

  637. present with

  638. his people

  639. always.

  640. That's the

  641. woman's story

  642. of faith and

  643. discovering a

  644. strong savior,

  645. but what of

  646. Jairus?

  647. Something of

  648. an emotional

  649. rollercoaster

  650. for Jairus

  651. these few

  652. minutes of

  653. his life.

  654. He comes

  655. with desperation

  656. to Jesus.

  657. This is his

  658. last chance

  659. for his

  660. daughter,

  661. so he falls

  662. on his

  663. knees and

  664. he begs,

  665. and they're

  666. on the move,

  667. so hopes are

  668. raised,

  669. and then there's

  670. this delay.

  671. What was Jairus

  672. thinking at that

  673. point?

  674. But then perhaps

  675. hope bloomed

  676. again as he

  677. saw Jesus,

  678. by his grace,

  679. working this

  680. miracle in

  681. the woman's

  682. life, but

  683. then his

  684. hopes appear

  685. dashed by

  686. the message

  687. of verse 49.

  688. As his

  689. servants come,

  690. your daughter

  691. is dead.

  692. Don't bother

  693. the teacher

  694. anymore.

  695. I read an

  696. account last

  697. week of a

  698. mum talking

  699. about the

  700. anniversary of

  701. the loss of

  702. her daughter,

  703. and she said

  704. it was like

  705. someone pulled

  706. out my heart,

  707. my battery,

  708. had been

  709. taken out.

  710. It's almost

  711. impossible to

  712. imagine what

  713. Jairus is going

  714. through at this

  715. moment, the pain

  716. that he experienced,

  717. but where is

  718. Jesus?

  719. He is present in

  720. this pain,

  721. and he calls to

  722. Jairus in verse

  723. 50,

  724. have faith,

  725. do not fear,

  726. don't be afraid,

  727. just believe,

  728. and she will

  729. be healed.

  730. From anyone

  731. else.

  732. These words are

  733. just cruel,

  734. hurtful,

  735. heartless,

  736. but from an

  737. unchanging,

  738. all-powerful

  739. son of God.

  740. From this

  741. Jesus who has

  742. just healed

  743. someone from

  744. 12 years of

  745. pain,

  746. there is solid

  747. hope that he

  748. can bring new

  749. life to a

  750. 12-year-old

  751. girl.

  752. And so we

  753. see Jairus

  754. holding on,

  755. keeping his

  756. faith in

  757. Jesus,

  758. continuing that

  759. journey.

  760. The commandment

  761. most frequently

  762. mentioned in

  763. the Bible is

  764. do not fear.

  765. Faith and fear

  766. are like oil

  767. and water,

  768. they just do

  769. not mix,

  770. they're like

  771. opponents in

  772. a battle.

  773. And Jesus

  774. says to Jairus

  775. and Jesus

  776. says to us,

  777. fight to

  778. hold on to

  779. faith,

  780. don't give

  781. in to fear.

  782. Here is Jairus

  783. confronted with

  784. our deepest

  785. fear,

  786. the fear of

  787. death itself.

  788. And we're

  789. being reminded

  790. that with

  791. faith in

  792. Jesus,

  793. death is not

  794. the end.

  795. We're being

  796. reminded that

  797. our greatest

  798. enemy is

  799. powerless

  800. compared to

  801. Jesus.

  802. Jesus,

  803. the one who

  804. offers eternal

  805. life,

  806. who is our

  807. only hope

  808. in life

  809. and in

  810. death.

  811. And we

  812. see that

  813. in the

  814. healing,

  815. the saving

  816. that he

  817. does.

  818. Verse 44,

  819. Jesus took

  820. the girl

  821. by the

  822. hand,

  823. the crowd

  824. knows she's

  825. dead,

  826. but he took

  827. her by the

  828. hand and

  829. said,

  830. my child,

  831. get up.

  832. Her spirit

  833. returned and

  834. at once she

  835. stood up and

  836. Jesus told them

  837. to give her

  838. something to

  839. eat.

  840. moment in

  841. this power,

  842. in this story

  843. of resurrection,

  844. power in this

  845. story of a

  846. strong saviour,

  847. that there's a

  848. signpost to

  849. his own

  850. resurrection,

  851. a reminder that

  852. Jesus is

  853. stronger than

  854. death.

  855. Death has no

  856. claim on him

  857. and death has

  858. no hold on

  859. him.

  860. He is our

  861. sinless

  862. saviour.

  863. And there is

  864. too hope for

  865. our

  866. resurrection,

  867. a resurrection

  868. that will be

  869. permanent and

  870. that will be

  871. glorious.

  872. For this

  873. little girl,

  874. she would die

  875. once again,

  876. but for us,

  877. when our faith

  878. is in Jesus,

  879. death is the

  880. gateway to

  881. eternal life,

  882. to resurrection

  883. life that is

  884. permanent and

  885. that is

  886. glorious.

  887. So in these

  888. few hours,

  889. we are

  890. reminded and

  891. encouraged as

  892. God's people

  893. that in every

  894. pain, we

  895. can enjoy the

  896. Son's presence.

  897. Whether that

  898. pain and

  899. suffering that

  900. we endure is

  901. private or

  902. public,

  903. whether it is

  904. long-term or

  905. temporary,

  906. whether it is

  907. physical,

  908. emotional,

  909. or spiritual,

  910. we know

  911. that Jesus is

  912. not disinterested.

  913. We know that

  914. Jesus is not

  915. distant in

  916. heaven.

  917. in our tears,

  918. hear him say,

  919. I am with you

  920. always.

  921. I will never

  922. leave you or

  923. abandon you.

  924. In our pain,

  925. in our struggles,

  926. like Jairus,

  927. like this woman,

  928. come to him

  929. with faith.

  930. Experience his

  931. grace,

  932. experience his

  933. healing,

  934. experience his

  935. peace,

  936. knowing that

  937. he will draw

  938. near to us.
