  1. So let's now read together from Isaiah 53. Let's hear God's word.

  2. Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

  3. He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground.

  4. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

  5. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering and familiar with pain.

  6. Like one from whom people hide their faces, he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

  7. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him and afflicted.

  8. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities.

  9. The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

  10. We all, like sheep, have gone astray. Each of us has turned to our own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

  11. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth.

  12. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

  13. By oppression and judgment he was taken away, yet who of his generation protested?

  14. For he was cut off from the land of the living. For the transgression of my people he was punished.

  15. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death.

  16. Though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth,

  17. yet it was the Lord's will to crush him and cause him to suffer.

  18. And though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,

  19. he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

  20. and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

  21. After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied.

  22. By his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,

  23. and he will bear their iniquities.

  24. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,

  25. and he will divide the spoils with the strong,

  26. because he poured out his life unto death,

  27. and was numbered with the transgressors.

  28. For he bore the sin of many,

  29. and made intercession for the transgressors.

  30. So we will think about the first six verses today,

  31. this famous servant song in Isaiah 53,

  32. and we'll think particularly about the suffering of the servant

  33. from those first six verses.

  34. You are perhaps familiar with the phrase

  35. that one man's freedom fighter is another's terrorist,

  36. the point being that one's perspective and point of view

  37. influences how we view particular characters and their actions.

  38. We can think of Nelson Mandela,

  39. we can think of Martin Luther King,

  40. and many others.

  41. We recognise too, don't we, I think,

  42. that our perspectives on a person or on a situation can become fixed,

  43. especially if it's connected to our view of the world

  44. and how the world works.

  45. And we see that in a very polarised world that we live in today.

  46. People find themselves in camps,

  47. and it's really hard to even understand how the other thinks.

  48. Well, we're going to spend three weeks in this remarkable chapter

  49. with a remarkable perspective.

  50. What we have is Isaiah, led by the Spirit,

  51. 700 years before the death of Jesus,

  52. and it's as if he, led by the Spirit,

  53. is overhearing eyewitnesses to the events

  54. around the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

  55. And he hears them confess.

  56. We thought one way, but we got it wrong.

  57. We were wrong about Jesus.

  58. So as he is being revealed, this prophecy,

  59. Isaiah transports his first hearers forward 700 years,

  60. and he then transports us back some 2,000 years,

  61. back to the suffering and the death of Jesus

  62. so that we might be able to answer,

  63. what is my perspective?

  64. What is my verdict on Jesus and what he came to do?

  65. You've perhaps heard people talk about being on the wrong side of history,

  66. particularly in the world of politics.

  67. You know that there is an important issue,

  68. and the logic goes that if you find yourself on the wrong side of that issue

  69. or that policy, you will, and your party will lose out in the end.

  70. Well, in a sense, we hear that principle being applied by the apostles

  71. in the Book of Acts.

  72. The crucial event is the sending of Jesus

  73. and his work on the cross and his resurrection.

  74. And the apostles will say,

  75. if your verdict on Jesus does not match up with God's,

  76. then you are on the wrong side and you will lose out,

  77. and you will lose out eternally.

  78. So in Acts chapter 2 and at verse 36,

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  79. Peter says,

  80. God has made this Jesus whom you crucified.

  81. There's the world's verdict.

  82. God has made him both Lord and Messiah.

  83. There's God's verdict.

  84. Acts chapter 3 that we read,

    Acts 3 chapter mention

  85. you killed the author of life.

  86. There's the world's verdict.

  87. But God raised him from the dead,

  88. and he glorified him.

  89. And we are witnesses of this.

  90. There's God's verdict.

  91. So this unique voice,

  92. this unique perspective from Isaiah 53

  93. brings us a really vivid description

  94. of Jesus' suffering and death and resurrection.

  95. We'll see that in those three weeks running up to Easter,

  96. and we're called then to share the Lord's verdict on Jesus

  97. and to help us to do that,

  98. we're going to focus today

  99. on what Isaiah says about Jesus suffering in his life

  100. and Jesus suffering in his death.

  101. So first of all, in the first three verses,

  102. two perspectives on the suffering of Jesus in his life.

  103. So here's Isaiah's prophecy

  104. in which he is revealing to us

  105. what contemporaries of Jesus might have said

  106. after the cross,

  107. after they have witnessed those events.

  108. And in view here are those who have now come to faith

  109. in the Lord Jesus.

  110. In verse 1,

  111. these people say,

  112. who has believed our message?

  113. They have come to believe the message of Jesus

  114. and now they're sharing that message,

  115. but they are finding themselves resisted,

  116. being resisted rather.

  117. So as they share their testimony,

  118. what is their approach?

  119. Their approach is very much

  120. there's a before and there's an after.

  121. We used to think this way about Jesus,

  122. but now with God's revelation,

  123. we think differently.

  124. So their perspective on Jesus suffering life before faith,

  125. let's look at verse 2.

  126. They regarded Jesus as nothing special.

  127. He grew up before him like a tender shoot.

  128. Jesus was fragile.

  129. Jesus was weak.

  130. Think about perhaps the spring flowers in your garden,

  131. knowing that all it would take would be a harsh frost

  132. and those flowers would not make it.

  133. He grew up like a root out of dry ground.

  134. What does that saying imply?

  135. It implies that Jesus was unimpressive.

  136. He began from unpromising conditions.

  137. Can anything good come out of Nazareth?

  138. Isn't he Mary's son?

  139. Isn't he the son of the carpenter?

  140. What about the appearance of Jesus?

  141. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him.

  142. Nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

  143. There was nothing compelling,

  144. nothing imposing.

  145. Jesus did not draw attention by his physical presence

  146. or by his nobility.

  147. Rather, we know Jesus was born in a stable

  148. and his home town was a backwater village

  149. that was regarded with contempt.

  150. He was homeless.

  151. When he rode into Jerusalem,

  152. he didn't come on a war horse.

  153. He came on a donkey.

  154. When image is everything,

  155. many look at Jesus and say,

  156. he's nothing special.

  157. Verse 3 takes it further

  158. to imply that in their thinking before faith,

  159. Jesus was a nobody.

  160. He was despised and rejected by mankind.

  161. The natural reaction of people to Jesus

  162. was to treat him with contempt.

  163. We see that all through his life

  164. with the religious leaders.

  165. We hear the mockery at the cross.

  166. He saved others,

  167. but he can't save himself.

  168. Jesus was a man of suffering,

  169. a man of sorrow and familiar with pain.

  170. Isolated, misunderstood,

  171. not receiving sympathy.

  172. And bear in mind that he's familiar

  173. with sorrow and pain only

  174. because he came to take ours,

  175. because he came to save us.

  176. He left the glory of heaven

  177. with it was no sorrow or pain

  178. to enter into our world

  179. to save us.

  180. Verse 3 says,

  181. he was held in low esteem,

  182. drawn from the world of accountancy.

  183. Jesus is a zero.

  184. People turned their faces

  185. and turned their backs to Jesus.

  186. He was devalued and degraded

  187. both in his life

  188. and as he died.

  189. And Isaiah allows us

  190. to overhear this testimony.

  191. This was how we saw Jesus,

  192. but now,

  193. with the perspective of faith,

  194. it's quite different.

  195. Back to verse 1.

  196. Who has believed our message

  197. and to whom has

  198. the arm of the Lord been revealed?

  199. Who is Jesus?

  200. He is the arm of the Lord.

  201. What does that mean?

  202. Jesus is God's demonstration

  203. of saving power.

  204. It's used a lot in the book of Exodus.

  205. God saving by an outstretched arm,

  206. the arm of power

  207. to rescue from slavery.

  208. The point now we see

  209. Jesus is God's powerful saviour.

  210. He brings freedom,

  211. not from physical slavery,

  212. but from spiritual slavery,

  213. from sin leading to death.

  214. And he sets people free

  215. so that we might enjoy life with God.

  216. And they're now able to see that.

  217. So how did this change happen?

  218. Because this is a total 180, isn't it?

  219. Verse 1, again,

  220. is so important.

  221. To whom has the arm of the Lord

  222. been revealed?

  223. It was revealed to them

  224. by God,

  225. by his Spirit,

  226. giving them the eyes of faith.

  227. Without that,

  228. they would have continued

  229. to treat Jesus with contempt.

  230. And without the eyes of faith,

  231. so too would we.

  232. Now,

  233. they understand

  234. Jesus suffers

  235. to save us.

  236. And so the message

  237. that Isaiah 53 brings

  238. is don't ignore Jesus.

  239. Don't despise Jesus.

  240. As Isaiah draws us in,

  241. let's ask the question,

  242. what is my verdict

  243. on Jesus,

  244. the suffering servant?

  245. Does it match the crowds

  246. of culture and society?

  247. Does it match the Lord's verdict?

  248. If you're a worshipper of Jesus today,

  249. praise God

  250. that he has revealed

  251. that truth to you,

  252. that he has given you

  253. the eyes of faith.

  254. It was nothing to do with us.

  255. It's all a gift of God's grace.

  256. So let's praise him for that.

  257. And if you have up until now,

  258. as it were,

  259. walked on by,

  260. ask God

  261. to reveal the truth

  262. to your heart.

  263. Why did Jesus come?

  264. Jesus came because by nature

  265. we are all

  266. on the wrong side of history.

  267. We are separated from God

  268. because of our sin

  269. and our guilt,

  270. our deliberate rejection of God.

  271. We stand under the judgment of God

  272. and we face,

  273. left to ourselves,

  274. eternal separation

  275. without God

  276. and without anything

  277. that is good.

  278. Jesus came because

  279. we are a people

  280. who need

  281. to be rescued

  282. and God in love

  283. sent Jesus,

  284. our loving rescuer.

  285. Who is Jesus?

  286. Jesus is the Lord's gift to us.

  287. Jesus is the substitute

  288. who suffers and dies

  289. in love for us.

  290. And he's come to promise

  291. true, eternal life,

  292. lasting and solid hope,

  293. deep, unending joy,

  294. freedom from guilt

  295. and fear,

  296. the answer

  297. to our loneliness

  298. in his person

  299. and in his work.

  300. Are we trusting him?

  301. Have we seen

  302. who he is?

  303. And let me ask a further question

  304. if we're Christians today.

  305. Who are we sharing

  306. this message with?

  307. So remember,

  308. this is testimony

  309. of people whose lives

  310. have been changed

  311. so now they're followers

  312. of Jesus

  313. and they want to bring

  314. the good news.

  315. Remember the power

  316. of our stories.

  317. I read a recent survey

  318. that said 57% of people

  319. who come to faith

  320. come because a friend

  321. or a family member

  322. taught them from God's word

  323. and showed them Jesus

  324. in their life

  325. and in their actions.

  326. So are we praying

  327. and praying for one another

  328. to have opportunities

  329. and when those opportunities

  330. come that we would

  331. take them

  332. and that our life

  333. and our character

  334. and our words

  335. would point people

  336. towards Jesus.

  337. Well,

  338. from two perspectives

  339. on Jesus'

  340. suffering life,

  341. let's think now

  342. about two perspectives

  343. on Jesus'

  344. suffering in his death.

  345. So Isaiah is continuing

  346. to invite us in

  347. to listen in

  348. to the testimony

  349. of these spectators

  350. who were at the cross

  351. and it's very vivid

  352. his description.

  353. The events,

  354. did you notice,

  355. the events are described

  356. in the past tense

  357. as if they have already

  358. taken place.

  359. Isaiah invites his readers

  360. to span time and space

  361. to take us right

  362. to the foot of the cross.

  363. So as we watch

  364. the suffering

  365. and the death of Jesus,

  366. what's clearly understood

  367. by the people

  368. in view here

  369. is that God

  370. was involved

  371. in the death

  372. of Jesus.

  373. But before faith,

  374. they thought God

  375. was punishing Jesus

  376. for his sin.

  377. But once the Spirit

  378. worked and opened

  379. their eyes

  380. and gave them faith,

  381. they saw Jesus

  382. as punished

  383. for our sin.

  384. So let's consider

  385. both those perspectives.

  386. Let's see how they viewed

  387. the cross

  388. before faith

  389. when they thought

  390. Jesus was punished

  391. for his sin.

  392. Look at the second part

  393. of verse 4.

  394. It's very strong language.

  395. We considered him

  396. punished by God,

  397. stricken by him

  398. and afflicted.

  399. This is the language

  400. of deep suffering.

  401. They clearly,

  402. as they watched the cross,

  403. recognised God's hand

  404. of punishment

  405. upon Jesus

  406. but they misunderstood

  407. why it was happening.

  408. We know

  409. that the charge

  410. that was brought

  411. by the religious leaders

  412. was that Jesus

  413. was guilty of blasphemy,

  414. claiming to be

  415. Son of God

  416. when he wasn't.

  417. And then when we go

  418. to the cross,

  419. we hear mockery,

  420. let God rescue him

  421. if he delights in him.

  422. So many in the crowd

  423. looked at Jesus

  424. and thought,

  425. here is someone

  426. who is dying

  427. under God's curse

  428. and he deserves it

  429. because he's claimed

  430. something that is

  431. just not true.

  432. He's made himself

  433. equal to God.

  434. But then,

  435. as the Spirit worked

  436. and as the truth

  437. was revealed,

  438. what's their view

  439. of the cross

  440. after faith?

  441. Not that Jesus

  442. was punished

  443. for his own sin,

  444. no,

  445. that Jesus was punished

  446. for our sin.

  447. The Spirit works

  448. in them

  449. and they recognise

  450. Jesus is

  451. our substitute.

  452. He takes our sin,

  453. he takes our place,

  454. he takes our punishment.

  455. Isaiah's first hearers

  456. were familiar

  457. with the Day of Atonement

  458. and what happened

  459. on the Day of Atonement

  460. is that there were

  461. two animals,

  462. two goats

  463. and one goat

  464. it was taken

  465. and the sin

  466. of the people

  467. as it were

  468. was transferred

  469. onto that animal

  470. and then it was slaughtered

  471. as a way to say

  472. it's a blood sacrifice

  473. that is required

  474. for forgiveness

  475. and peace with God.

  476. But then there was

  477. the other animal,

  478. the scapegoat

  479. and again the sins

  480. of the people

  481. were symbolically

  482. laid on that animal

  483. and the animal

  484. was then sent

  485. out into the world

  486. and it's carrying

  487. as it were

  488. those sins,

  489. carrying them

  490. out of sight.

  491. And now the testimony

  492. from Isaiah 53

  493. is Jesus is what

  494. that ceremony is,

  495. what the Day of Atonement

  496. points to.

  497. His life is that

  498. perfect sacrifice,

  499. his blood brings

  500. forgiveness,

  501. he is the one

  502. who carries sin

  503. and disposes of it

  504. in his life.

  505. And we see in verses

  506. four to six,

  507. I think three important

  508. aspects of the gospel.

  509. First we see the cost,

  510. the cost of our salvation.

  511. Look again at verse four.

  512. Surely he took up our pain

  513. and bore our suffering,

  514. yet we consider him

  515. punished by God.

  516. There's an emphasis

  517. in this chapter

  518. on the great distinction.

  519. There's he,

  520. the servant,

  521. Jesus and we,

  522. those who benefit.

  523. But the point is

  524. that Jesus stands

  525. and acts alone

  526. in his suffering.

  527. Jesus took up our pain

  528. and bore our suffering.

  529. Perhaps it would be helpful

  530. to think of the image

  531. of waist disposal.

  532. What if you get someone

  533. who comes to do

  534. a bulky uplift?

  535. What do they do?

  536. They come and they pick up

  537. our waist,

  538. our rubbish.

  539. They perhaps put it

  540. on their shoulders

  541. depending how heavy it is

  542. and they then dispose of it.

  543. So it is no longer

  544. our problem.

  545. Isaiah 53 reminds us

  546. that Jesus picks up

  547. our sin,

  548. our moral and spiritual garbage

  549. and he shoulders it

  550. and he carries it

  551. as if it was his own

  552. and he disposes of it.

  553. He takes the full punishment

  554. for it

  555. so it is fully forgiven

  556. for those who have

  557. the eyes of faith

  558. and who trust in Jesus

  559. and that what he did

  560. on the cross

  561. he did for us.

  562. This is costly grace.

  563. This is the cost

  564. to God

  565. of our salvation.

  566. Jesus,

  567. the Son of God,

  568. dies for our sin

  569. in our place

  570. to secure for us

  571. a forgiveness

  572. we can freely receive

  573. by faith,

  574. by trusting

  575. and believing.

  576. So that's the cost

  577. that we see

  578. in the gospel.

  579. But then in verse 5

  580. we are shown

  581. the exchange

  582. that takes place,

  583. the great exchange

  584. that takes place

  585. in the gospel.

  586. Jesus takes something

  587. from us

  588. and he gives something

  589. to us.

  590. What does Jesus take?

  591. Verse 5

  592. He was pierced

  593. for our transgressions

  594. He was crushed

  595. for our iniquities

  596. The punishment

  597. that brought us peace

  598. was on him

  599. and by his wounds

  600. we are healed.

  601. Jesus takes

  602. our sin

  603. One of the words

  604. is transgression

  605. that's a deliberate

  606. breaking

  607. a deliberate rejection

  608. of God's law.

  609. when we turn

  610. our back

  611. on what we clearly

  612. know God

  613. wants us to do

  614. when we break

  615. and dismiss

  616. the Ten Commandments

  617. for example

  618. and Jesus takes

  619. our iniquity

  620. when God sets

  621. a straight path

  622. and we make it crooked

  623. because we don't

  624. live to fully

  625. please God

  626. Jesus takes

  627. that on himself

  628. so he takes

  629. our sin

  630. and then he takes

  631. the penalty

  632. for sin

  633. he is pierced

  634. and he is crushed

  635. and he bears wounds

  636. all pictures

  637. of violent death

  638. and

  639. as we are reminded

  640. he is punished

  641. by God

  642. and that is

  643. a deeper agony

  644. than the physical

  645. pain he endured

  646. Jesus as he becomes

  647. the sin bearer

  648. of the world

  649. is regarded

  650. by his father

  651. as the worst sinner

  652. who ever lived

  653. and Jesus feels

  654. that sense

  655. of being forsaken

  656. by his father

  657. on the cross

  658. as he faces

  659. in himself

  660. the holy anger

  661. of God

  662. against sin

  663. and remember

  664. Jesus is sinlessly

  665. perfect

  666. he is doing that

  667. not for his sin

  668. but for our sin

  669. so Jesus takes sin

  670. and it's penalty

  671. and what does he give

  672. Jesus gives

  673. we're told

  674. peace

  675. and healing

  676. the wonderful message

  677. of the gospel

  678. is that Jesus

  679. is abandoned

  680. so that we can be

  681. welcomed

  682. so that we can be

  683. reconciled

  684. Jesus takes

  685. into himself

  686. the poison

  687. of sin

  688. so that we

  689. can be healed

  690. and here is the

  691. unique beauty

  692. of Christianity

  693. because it shows

  694. us God's grace

  695. and kindness

  696. on full display

  697. the Bible doesn't

  698. say to us

  699. do better

  700. try harder

  701. try and earn

  702. your salvation

  703. what we see

  704. in this exchange

  705. is that it's all

  706. about God's kindness

  707. we could never

  708. pay the price

  709. for our sin

  710. we could never

  711. earn God's favour

  712. because we can never

  713. be good enough

  714. rather by faith

  715. we receive it

  716. as a gift

  717. purchased for us

  718. at the cross

  719. by the suffering

  720. of the Lord Jesus

  721. and then there's

  722. another aspect

  723. of the gospel

  724. that we see

  725. in verse 6

  726. and that's

  727. the rescue

  728. that takes place

  729. notice that the

  730. verse starts

  731. and finishes

  732. with an

  733. all

  734. we all

  735. this is a vital

  736. part of the

  737. testimony that's

  738. shared in Isaiah

  739. 53

  740. we all have

  741. gone astray

  742. there's the extent

  743. of the human

  744. problem

  745. no one is

  746. exempt from

  747. the problem

  748. of sin

  749. all of us

  750. in our conscience

  751. in our hearts

  752. know that all

  753. is not well

  754. between us

  755. and God

  756. left to ourselves

  757. there's a second

  758. all at the end

  759. there

  760. the Lord has

  761. laid on him

  762. the iniquity

  763. of us

  764. all

  765. there's the extent

  766. of God's solution

  767. and God's salvation

  768. there is no one

  769. who can say

  770. this is not open

  771. to me

  772. this is not for me

  773. anyone who has

  774. faith and who

  775. looks to Jesus

  776. will know

  777. that he has

  778. taken sin

  779. that he has

  780. carried out

  781. that rescue

  782. the picture here

  783. in verse 6

  784. is of a wandering

  785. sheep

  786. and a wandering

  787. sheep

  788. far from the

  789. shepherd

  790. is in danger

  791. and notice here

  792. it's in danger

  793. by their own

  794. choosing

  795. they turn to

  796. their own

  797. way

  798. we turn

  799. away

  800. from our

  801. good and

  802. gracious

  803. king

  804. abandoning

  805. the shepherd

  806. and his

  807. care

  808. for us

  809. and God's

  810. response

  811. the penalty

  812. for wandering

  813. the penalty

  814. of rebellion

  815. is not laid

  816. on God's

  817. people

  818. it's laid

  819. on Jesus

  820. Jesus

  821. as he said

  822. in John 10

  823. I am the good

  824. shepherd

  825. and I lay

  826. down my life

  827. for the sheep

  828. Jesus suffers

  829. death

  830. so that you

  831. and I

  832. might enjoy

  833. true life

  834. if we

  835. look to

  836. him

  837. and trust

  838. him

  839. and trust

  840. his care

  841. and trust

  842. what he

  843. did

  844. on the

  845. cross

  846. again

  847. Jesus

  848. is being

  849. presented

  850. to us

  851. as

  852. the

  853. suffering

  854. servant

  855. the suffering

  856. saviour

  857. and Isaiah

  858. invites the

  859. question

  860. what is my

  861. verdict

  862. on the

  863. cross

  864. on Jesus

  865. suffering

  866. on the

  867. cross

  868. remember

  869. Jesus

  870. death and

  871. resurrection

  872. our true

  873. history

  874. every

  875. scholar

  876. of note

  877. every historian

  878. of note

  879. whether they're

  880. Christian or

  881. not

  882. recognises

  883. the cross

  884. is fact

  885. and many

  886. even

  887. sceptical

  888. even

  889. non-Christian

  890. scholars

  891. recognise

  892. the resurrection

  893. has

  894. facts

  895. backing it

  896. up

  897. this is

  898. truth

  899. don't rush

  900. by the truth

  901. don't ignore

  902. the truth

  903. don't think

  904. that it's

  905. a small

  906. thing

  907. or for

  908. another

  909. day

  910. this is

  911. too

  912. important

  913. remember

  914. the Lord's

  915. verdict

  916. God glorified

  917. Jesus

  918. God

  919. raised

  920. Jesus

  921. and in

  922. that

  923. there is

  924. a reminder

  925. that the

  926. price for

  927. our sin

  928. and guilt

  929. is fully

  930. paid

  931. that sin

  932. and death

  933. have been

  934. defeated

  935. that Jesus

  936. has been

  937. vindicated

  938. and raised

  939. in

  940. triumph

  941. so just

  942. like the

  943. characters

  944. of Isaiah

  945. 53

  946. who have

  947. been

  948. pictured

  949. in this

  950. prophecy

  951. if as

  952. yet you

  953. have not

  954. trusted

  955. in Jesus

  956. as Lord

  957. and Saviour

  958. recognise

  959. that you

  960. need

  961. the work

  962. of God's

  963. spirit

  964. in your

  965. life

  966. to change

  967. your heart

  968. and change

  969. your perspective

  970. ask him

  971. to do

  972. that

  973. read

  974. God's

  975. word

  976. read

  977. the

  978. gospels

  979. discover

  980. who

  981. Jesus

  982. is

  983. and why

  984. he

  985. came

  986. so that

  987. you would

  988. trust in

  989. him

  990. so as we

  991. approach

  992. Easter

  993. is it not

  994. too far

  995. away now

  996. let's

  997. worship

  998. Jesus

  999. with the

  1000. eyes

  1001. of faith

  1002. remembering

  1003. that there's

  1004. no part

  1005. of our

  1006. need

  1007. that he

  1008. doesn't

  1009. deal

  1010. with

  1011. that's

  1012. good

  1013. news

  1014. and if

  1015. we're

  1016. trusting

  1017. him

  1018. take

  1019. heart

  1020. that we

  1021. are on

  1022. the right

  1023. side of

  1024. history

  1025. that Jesus

  1026. the

  1027. saviour

  1028. is for

  1029. us

  1030. and he

  1031. is with

  1032. us

  1033. and he

  1034. has won

  1035. the victory

  1036. for us
