  1. unite our hearts in reverent fear of you and satisfy our hearts in your steadfast love

  2. we ask and praise things in jesus name amen

  3. psalm 91 if we're honest think as we were reading that

  4. we attempt to think it just sounds too good to be true doesn't it

  5. no it almost reminds me of them a manifesto a political party might bring out the run-up to

  6. an election and you read these promises they they say they'll do if they're elected and you think

  7. no danger is that gonna happen now i wonder if you're the same response as you read the psalm

  8. you think it sounds too good to be true no danger is this gonna happen to me you see we read this

  9. and we know don't we that christians get cancer christians fight anxiety for some of us the

  10. thought of being left alone every night to our thoughts it just seems like torture

  11. so what are these promises then in the psalm

  12. is it just exaggeration exaggeration poetic license

  13. one of the guys on our launch team in charleston owen he was on his on his deathbed a few years ago

  14. he was he was waiting on a liver transplant by god's grace he got one he's he's uh he's doing well

  15. walking with the lord loving the lord and for him on his deathbed

  16. psalm 91 when everything to him

  17. how could that be when we read we read through it

  18. no harm will overtake you well what does that mean

  19. look at verse 6 know the the person that's that stalks in the darkness of the plague that destroys

  20. at midday here's a guy on his deathbed because of sickness

  21. how how did this psalm possibly help him it's a psalm like

  22. like some sort of spiritual spinach from popeye

  23. you know you're you're feeling fearful you

  24. you crack open the tin of spinach you read the psalm so to speak and that's it you're fine you have no fear

  25. you're able to carry on with whatever comes your way

  26. well of course you know that's not right

  27. see for all of us disaster will come harm will come disease will come

  28. terrors will come

  29. in order for us to understand this psalm what i think we need to do

  30. is to look at the psalm through the through the lenses of jesus

  31. see these these promises begin to make sense when we look at them through the lens of jesus

  32. and when we do that

  33. we will see why owen charleston was able to sing this on his deathbed i mean every single word of it

  34. so two points for us this evening first off a song for king jesus

  35. secondly promises for his people

  36. a song for king jesus promises for his people

  37. let's look at first point a song for king jesus

  38. now why do i say that

  39. well in the psalm just look in verse 3

  40. how often you see the word you

  41. he will save you

  42. he will cover you

  43. you will not fear

  44. the things throughout the psalm

  45. this this you it's it's singular

  46. so who is the individual then

  47. that the psalm is talking about

  48. who's this individual who's going to receive these promises

  49. well like a good maths textbook at school

  50. will you flick to the back to see the answer

  51. and let's do that now

  52. but let's turn to verse 14

  53. of this um

  54. sorry pardon me i've got a bit of a cold just now

  55. first cold in a year i think so

  56. forgive me if my voice cracks a bit

  57. anyway verse 14

  58. look at verse 14 where it says

  59. the lord says it's the one who loves me

  60. the one who calls on my name

  61. here is someone who clings to god wholeheartedly

  62. who honors god who

  63. god says to this person

  64. his promises will be fulfilled

  65. to this person

  66. i will rescue

  67. so who is this person who fulfills this criteria

  68. perhaps in your bible like mine

  69. you've got a footnote as well

  70. verse 14

  71. that says at the bottom

  72. that is probably

  73. the king

  74. i think it's spot on that the you here

  75. that they're talking about is

  76. is the king

  77. god's king

  78. there's language in the psalm that

  79. that echoes language used by david

  80. there's there's warlike language

  81. in the psalm that

  82. that's usually applied to the king

  83. and in theory

  84. the king trusts god

  85. knows god

  86. follows god

  87. and his law

  88. you see verse 14 should describe god's king

  89. well we read the old testament

  90. and see how fell

  91. how far they fell short of that

  92. but when we come to the new testament

  93. the psalm is picked up on again

  94. and we see even clearer

  95. who is the recipient of this psalm

  96. for help of that we turn to

  97. i guess you could argue

  98. a master expositor

  99. the devil

  100. the devil is the

  101. the great deceiver

  102. that doesn't mean he's clueless

  103. when it comes to scripture

  104. i'm going to keep a finger in psalm 91

  105. and turn ahead to luke chapter 4

    Luke 4 chapter mention

  106. and let me read for us

  107. where jesus has been tempted by satan

  108. let me read for us from verse 9

  109. of luke chapter 4

    Luke 4 chapter mention

  110. it says this

  111. the devil led him

  112. that is jesus

  113. to jerusalem

  114. and had him stand

  115. on the highest point of the temple

  116. if you are the son of god

  117. he said

  118. throw yourself down from here

  119. for it is written

  120. he will command his angels

  121. concerning you

  122. to guard you carefully

  123. they will lift you up in their hands

  124. so that you will not strike your foot

  125. against a stone

  126. now

  127. question

  128. what did satan call jesus here

  129. did you notice that at the start

  130. if you are the son of god

  131. now that's a messianic title

  132. satan here isn't referring to jesus

  133. i don't think as the eternal son of god

  134. instead he's using the messianic title

  135. of god's promised king

  136. like like elsewhere in the songs

  137. why is he doing that here

  138. how do you know that well

  139. because of what

  140. satan goes on to quote

  141. he goes on to quote

  142. psalm 91

  143. a psalm for

  144. god's king

  145. and satan says here to jesus

  146. doesn't he that

  147. if you are the son of god

  148. that is

  149. if you are god's king

  150. then psalm 91

  151. is for you jesus

  152. he's right

  153. jesus doesn't tell him

  154. that he's wrong here

  155. let's follow satan's logic

  156. he says

  157. if you are god's king

  158. then psalm 91

  159. is yours jesus

  160. so

  161. jump off this building

  162. and the angels will catch you

  163. so no harm comes to you

  164. god wouldn't let harm come to his king

  165. he's promised that in psalm 91

  166. well satan might be spot on

  167. and psalm 91

  168. is for god's king

  169. but he's wrong

  170. in how he uses a psalm

  171. see satan reads this to jesus

  172. and says

  173. don't go to the cross

  174. if god really loved you

  175. he wouldn't let you suffer

  176. look at his promises to you

  177. in psalm 91

  178. that's the temptation for jesus

  179. don't go the way of the cross

  180. go the way of comfort

  181. and enjoy these promises now

  182. let's have a look at what his promises are

  183. for jesus

  184. in the psalm

  185. turn back to psalm 91 then

  186. our car insurance

  187. needed renewed recently

  188. and if you can afford it

  189. you don't go third party

  190. firing theft do you

  191. you go fully comp

  192. fully comprehensive

  193. that's what these promises are here

  194. they are fully comp

  195. all encompassing

  196. nearly every situation in life

  197. could throw at you

  198. look at the language of what

  199. of what jesus will receive

  200. from god

  201. the language of

  202. of

  203. of shelter

  204. shadow

  205. in first one

  206. god will be his

  207. his refuge

  208. his

  209. his fortress

  210. in verse two

  211. look in verse three

  212. some of

  213. the threats

  214. the king will face

  215. the foulest snare

  216. that

  217. the hidden

  218. sneaky threats

  219. traps laid by enemies

  220. deadly pestilence

  221. sickness

  222. that

  223. that risks

  224. overcoming him

  225. and didn't jesus face that

  226. the pharisees

  227. the scribes

  228. seeking to lay

  229. their traps for him

  230. the ill

  231. the sick

  232. coming to jesus

  233. yet god covered him

  234. protected him

  235. god's faithfulness

  236. to his king

  237. will be his shield

  238. and rampart

  239. look at verses five

  240. and six

  241. notice the

  242. the language of night

  243. and day

  244. and then the

  245. the darkness

  246. and midday

  247. he's saying that

  248. in the

  249. the stillness

  250. of the darkest night

  251. or the

  252. brightness of

  253. sunny midday

  254. the king

  255. need not fear

  256. and look at the things

  257. that are

  258. that could cause him

  259. to fear

  260. people firing

  261. arrows at you

  262. a plague like

  263. sickness

  264. which i guess

  265. we can relate to

  266. terrors at night

  267. all of these

  268. you need not fear

  269. god saves to his king

  270. psalmist goes on

  271. to describe god's

  272. judgments

  273. that the wicked

  274. will fall

  275. evil will be defeated

  276. and you'll see it all

  277. you'll see

  278. your enemies

  279. fall

  280. and jesus did

  281. the image continues

  282. doesn't it

  283. verses 10 onwards

  284. the angels

  285. they'll be like

  286. the king's

  287. security detail

  288. i guess in one sense

  289. they were for jesus

  290. weren't they

  291. the garden of gethsemane

  292. the night before

  293. he died

  294. on the cross

  295. in verse 13

  296. you will

  297. trample the lion

  298. and the serpent

  299. god says

  300. to his king

  301. well what does that mean

  302. well i think when we get

  303. this it helps us really

  304. unlock the psalm

  305. see the psalm

  306. it's it finds

  307. its fulfillment

  308. in the death

  309. and resurrection

  310. of jesus

  311. and his return

  312. let me show you

  313. what i mean

  314. jesus faced

  315. traps for his enemies

  316. and he evaded them all

  317. god fulfilled

  318. that promise

  319. that is until

  320. it's time for him

  321. to be handed over

  322. to die on a cross

  323. jesus in the gospel

  324. like jesus is amazing

  325. you read the gospels

  326. and he's just

  327. unfazed by things

  328. he meets a legion

  329. of demons

  330. unfazed

  331. there's this massive

  332. storm

  333. unfazed

  334. that is

  335. until the night

  336. before he was

  337. due to die

  338. on the cross

  339. jesus enemies

  340. they

  341. they did fall

  342. because on the cross

  343. he defeated satan

  344. the serpent

  345. an image for the devil

  346. jesus crushed his head

  347. as he died

  348. on the cross

  349. you see jesus is the one

  350. who verse 14

  351. has truly loved god

  352. he has always trusted god

  353. he was always in his favour

  354. he was

  355. he always put his refuge

  356. in god

  357. see verses 14 to 16

  358. it's it's eight promises

  359. from god

  360. to his king

  361. and did god

  362. keep his word

  363. in them

  364. well at first glance

  365. it doesn't seem like it

  366. does it

  367. because he died

  368. you see the harm

  369. that came to jesus

  370. wasn't lasting

  371. and in fact

  372. it was in his harm

  373. that jesus trampled

  374. the serpent's head

  375. and god

  376. did rescue him

  377. jesus rose

  378. from the dead

  379. see all these promises

  380. we see

  381. in verses

  382. 14 to 16

  383. come after

  384. the resurrection

  385. he gets these things

  386. after the resurrection

  387. that's when

  388. psalm 91

  389. is fulfilled

  390. after the cross

  391. and resurrection

  392. not before

  393. as satan

  394. tempted jesus

  395. to do

  396. you see

  397. look down

  398. from verse 14

  399. where we see

  400. these eight promises

  401. and hear god himself

  402. speaking these

  403. says verse 14

  404. because

  405. the king

  406. clings to me

  407. in love

  408. i will rescue him

  409. i will

  410. protect him

  411. for he acknowledges

  412. my name

  413. the king

  414. he'll call on me

  415. and i will

  416. answer him

  417. i will be with him

  418. in trouble

  419. i will deliver him

  420. i will

  421. honor him

  422. with long life

  423. i will

  424. satisfy him

  425. and i will

  426. show him

  427. my salvation

  428. see god did

  429. come through

  430. he did answer

  431. these promises

  432. but it was on the

  433. far side

  434. of resurrection

  435. see jesus was

  436. rescued

  437. he was rescued

  438. from death

  439. he was always

  440. protected from

  441. his grip

  442. jesus is forever

  443. with the father

  444. he will always

  445. answer him

  446. jesus was delivered

  447. from death

  448. raised to life

  449. ascended into

  450. heaven

  451. and he's been

  452. honored

  453. honored with the

  454. name above every

  455. other name

  456. he has life

  457. eternal

  458. see jesus is the

  459. one who is

  460. truly the

  461. recipients of

  462. these promises

  463. because he is the

  464. one who truly

  465. loves the father

  466. at all times

  467. through all things

  468. he is the one who

  469. is truly faithful

  470. to him

  471. see when our

  472. when our fears

  473. scream at us

  474. in our face

  475. or

  476. or eat us

  477. from the inside

  478. out

  479. we can be

  480. tempted to

  481. think

  482. if god really

  483. loves me

  484. then he won't

  485. let me suffer

  486. after all that's

  487. what psalm 91

  488. says

  489. psalm 91

  490. first and foremost

  491. isn't a promise

  492. for you and I

  493. it's a promise

  494. for jesus

  495. and to promise

  496. which he didn't

  497. receive straight

  498. away

  499. but said after

  500. his resurrection

  501. see we don't

  502. deserve these

  503. promises

  504. we aren't

  505. always faithful

  506. we're fitful

  507. and failing at

  508. times

  509. we don't

  510. qualify for

  511. them

  512. it's the

  513. amazing thing

  514. because

  515. jesus went

  516. to the

  517. cross

  518. bore the

  519. the punishment

  520. of the wicked

  521. bore our

  522. punishment

  523. that when we

  524. repent of our

  525. sin when we

  526. put our trust

  527. in jesus

  528. then the

  529. psalm becomes

  530. yours

  531. psalm becomes

  532. mine

  533. it means that

  534. these incredible

  535. promises become

  536. ours

  537. some high

  538. friend Owen

  539. on his

  540. deathbed

  541. he was

  542. completely

  543. right

  544. to read

  545. to sing

  546. to pray

  547. psalm 91

  548. because in

  549. christ these

  550. promises are

  551. his

  552. we've looked

  553. at how this

  554. is a song

  555. for king

  556. jesus

  557. now let's

  558. turn and look

  559. at some of

  560. these promises

  561. for his

  562. people

  563. i've been

  564. reading a

  565. book called

  566. rejoice and

  567. tremble by

  568. mike reese

  569. and he makes

  570. this fascinating

  571. observation i

  572. think he's

  573. right here

  574. he says that

  575. never in a

  576. society have

  577. we been more

  578. safe and yet

  579. never have we

  580. been more

  581. afraid

  582. when i asked

  583. on facebook

  584. what people

  585. feared there

  586. was one

  587. thing that

  588. didn't come

  589. up which

  590. should really

  591. really have

  592. come up

  593. see if we

  594. don't know

  595. jesus we

  596. should be

  597. terrified that

  598. satan has a

  599. hold of us

  600. terrified that

  601. we have an

  602. eternal judgment

  603. waiting us

  604. terrified that

  605. god is going

  606. to pour out

  607. his wrath upon

  608. us for all

  609. the wrong

  610. things that

  611. we do

  612. and the

  613. fear of

  614. those things

  615. should eclipse

  616. every other

  617. fear that we

  618. have

  619. but because

  620. of jesus we

  621. don't need to

  622. fear those

  623. things anymore

  624. that doesn't

  625. mean that

  626. fear is

  627. completely removed

  628. from our

  629. lives

  630. we find that

  631. for whatever

  632. reason god

  633. does sometimes

  634. he leads us

  635. to a place of

  636. helplessness

  637. when we are

  638. forced to

  639. realise that

  640. when we see

  641. that all we

  642. have is him

  643. we realise

  644. that we

  645. have all

  646. we need

  647. let's see

  648. how the

  649. psalmist

  650. describes god

  651. here

  652. have a look

  653. at verse

  654. one

  655. he's described

  656. as the

  657. most high

  658. no matter

  659. how big

  660. your fears

  661. are

  662. how much

  663. you fear

  664. people and

  665. what they

  666. think

  667. he is

  668. greater

  669. he is

  670. most high

  671. he's the

  672. most high

  673. he's the

  674. almighty

  675. no matter

  676. how strong

  677. your fears

  678. are

  679. he is

  680. more

  681. powerful

  682. he is

  683. stronger

  684. he's the

  685. most high

  686. he's the

  687. almighty

  688. he's the

  689. lord and

  690. capitals

  691. the covenant

  692. god

  693. yahweh

  694. this all

  695. great

  696. all powerful

  697. god is

  698. the god

  699. who makes

  700. promises

  701. and keeps

  702. them every

  703. time

  704. he is the

  705. god who

  706. knows his

  707. people

  708. who dwells

  709. with his

  710. people

  711. he is the

  712. god who

  713. will never

  714. let us

  715. down

  716. never let

  717. us go

  718. never give

  719. us up

  720. finally he

  721. is my

  722. god

  723. this god

  724. isn't some

  725. distant and

  726. different deity

  727. the most high

  728. the almighty

  729. the lord he

  730. is my

  731. god

  732. so what he

  733. says to

  734. me what he

  735. thinks about

  736. me should

  737. shape everything

  738. in my life

  739. look at the

  740. metaphors that

  741. accompany these

  742. names

  743. shelter

  744. shelter

  745. when life

  746. is chaos

  747. there is

  748. shelter

  749. protection

  750. shadow

  751. like the

  752. wings of

  753. an eagle

  754. over us

  755. providing rest

  756. from the

  757. burning sun

  758. a sense of

  759. sense of

  760. closeness

  761. with him

  762. refuge

  763. he's a

  764. place you

  765. can run

  766. to and

  767. know that

  768. we are

  769. safe

  770. a fortress

  771. think

  772. edinburgh

  773. castle

  774. on the

  775. hill

  776. strong

  777. and

  778. movable

  779. protecting

  780. everyone

  781. inside

  782. with walls

  783. as thick

  784. as I am

  785. tall

  786. this is

  787. my god

  788. and in

  789. him

  790. I trust

  791. see just think of that image

  792. from verse 4 of being

  793. surrounded by

  794. God's wings

  795. think of the

  796. mother hen

  797. and her chicks

  798. under her wing

  799. if heat is burning

  800. down the mother

  801. dies but the chicks

  802. live

  803. if wind is blowing

  804. and rain is

  805. pouring

  806. the mother

  807. freezes but the chicks

  808. live

  809. if a prayer to come

  810. she dies but the chicks

  811. live

  812. Jesus has taken

  813. the judgment

  814. the wrath should have

  815. come on us

  816. but he has protected

  817. us from us

  818. he has taken it

  819. so that we

  820. might live

  821. and how do we know

  822. that he did that

  823. that he took that

  824. punishment in full

  825. because he rose

  826. from the dead

  827. because Jesus

  828. is risen

  829. from the dead

  830. we can know

  831. that God

  832. is not punishing

  833. you for your sins

  834. when things come

  835. that make you

  836. fear

  837. God is not

  838. punishing you

  839. just look at the

  840. end of verse 4

  841. his faithfulness

  842. God's faithfulness

  843. not our faithfulness

  844. to him

  845. but his faithfulness

  846. will be our shield

  847. and rampart

  848. and he is always

  849. faithful

  850. he will protect you

  851. not from harm

  852. but through harm

  853. even through death

  854. itself

  855. see God is

  856. God is with us

  857. God is for us

  858. God has said that

  859. he'll be with us

  860. to the very end

  861. of the age

  862. and into the next

  863. and one day

  864. we'll be with him

  865. forever

  866. there'll be no more

  867. suffering

  868. no more sickness

  869. no more enemies

  870. no more tears

  871. no more fears

  872. so you remember

  873. on the

  874. on the cross

  875. Jesus crushed

  876. the serpent's head

  877. he defeated

  878. the devil

  879. the great lion

  880. prowling round

  881. as Peter calls him

  882. in his first letter

  883. but like Jesus

  884. these promises

  885. in Psalm 91

  886. aren't going to be

  887. fulfilled on this

  888. side of death

  889. instead they help us

  890. persevere

  891. when we come face

  892. to face with death

  893. because we've seen

  894. the Psalm

  895. that God isn't going

  896. to keep us

  897. from trouble

  898. but he'll keep us

  899. through trouble

  900. he doesn't say

  901. no harm will come to you

  902. he says no harm

  903. will overtake you

  904. see this Psalm

  905. is not a promise

  906. that we won't get hurt

  907. it's a promise

  908. that ultimately

  909. we won't be harmed

  910. because of the death

  911. and resurrection

  912. of Jesus

  913. you are never condemned

  914. never separated

  915. because God is for you

  916. so because

  917. of the death

  918. and resurrection

  919. of Jesus

  920. when we trust in him

  921. he looks at you

  922. and he says

  923. look down at verse 14

  924. he says this to you

  925. he says

  926. because he loves me

  927. because she loves me

  928. says the Lord

  929. I will rescue him

  930. I will protect him

  931. for he acknowledges

  932. my name

  933. he will call me

  934. and I will answer him

  935. I will be with him

  936. in trouble

  937. I will deliver him

  938. and honour him

  939. I with long life

  940. I will satisfy him

  941. and show him

  942. my salvation

  943. his amazing promise

  944. for us

  945. so what do we do

  946. with these promises

  947. in the Psalm

  948. that we have in Christ

  949. well three things I think

  950. first off

  951. know

  952. know with confidence

  953. that God most high

  954. is greater than any fear

  955. and in him alone

  956. there is safety

  957. this Psalm reminds us

  958. to take our eyes

  959. off ourselves

  960. and to lift us up

  961. the great promises

  962. to come in Christ

  963. know who God is

  964. second this Psalm

  965. raises our affections

  966. and reminds us

  967. of God's amazing grace

  968. to us in Christ

  969. we don't deserve

  970. these promises

  971. but they're ours

  972. it's just stir up

  973. love in our hearts

  974. for Christ

  975. and all that he has

  976. given us

  977. in his grace

  978. but if you're listening

  979. and you aren't a Christian

  980. these promises

  981. aren't yours

  982. you should be scared

  983. of the judgement

  984. to come

  985. so trust in Christ

  986. turn from your sin

  987. and trust in him

  988. first off

  989. know who God is

  990. remember who he is

  991. secondly

  992. have your affections

  993. raised to Christ

  994. and what he's done

  995. for us

  996. and what we have

  997. in him

  998. and third

  999. I think

  1000. this Psalm

  1001. should drive us

  1002. to radical

  1003. missionary endeavours

1004. now what do I mean

  1005. by that

  1006. Elizabeth Elliot

  1007. wrote a book

  1008. called

  1009. The Shadow

  1010. of the Almighty

  1011. of course

  1012. taking its title

  1013. from verse 1

  1014. of the Psalm

  1015. perhaps you've read

  1016. the book

  1017. it's a book

  1018. about her husband

  1019. Jim Elliot

  1020. and four other men

1021. who on the 8th of January

  1022. in 1956

1023. tried to take the gospel

  1024. to an Ecuadorian tribe

1025. for the very first time

  1026. and they were killed

1027. if you call a story

  1028. of missionary martyrdom

  1029. the shadow

  1030. of the Almighty

  1031. I think you're saying

  1032. something about

  1033. Psalm 91

  1034. you're saying

  1035. this Psalm

  1036. does not mean

  1037. that difficult things

  1038. won't happen to Christians

  1039. you're saying

  1040. even death

  1041. may come

  1042. in the service

  1043. of Jesus Christ

  1044. and yet through that

  1045. you remain

  1046. in the shadow

  1047. of the Almighty

  1048. God remains with you

  1049. see Jesus says

  1050. something similar

  1051. in Luke's gospel

  1052. he's teaching his disciples

  1053. in chapter 21

  1054. and he says this

  1055. from verse 16

  1056. he says

  1057. you will be betrayed

  1058. even by parents

  1059. brothers and sisters

  1060. relatives and friends

  1061. and they will put

1062. some of you to death

  1063. everyone will hate you

  1064. because of me

  1065. but not a hair

  1066. of your head

  1067. will perish

  1068. some of you

  1069. will die

  1070. Jesus says

  1071. but not a hair

  1072. of your head

  1073. will perish

  1074. see as we follow

  1075. Jesus

  1076. yes

  1077. there are times

  1078. when we will

  1079. get hurt

  1080. but because

  1081. of the resurrection

  1082. of Jesus

  1083. Psalm 91

  1084. reminds us

  1085. that ultimately

1086. we will not be harmed

  1087. so let's take risks

  1088. for Jesus

  1089. knowing that God

  1090. is great at normal

  1091. knowing that all

  1092. that Jesus

  1093. has done for us

  1094. let's take risks

  1095. for Jesus

  1096. risks like

  1097. inviting a work

  1098. colleague

  1099. to read John's

  1100. gospel with you

  1101. over your lunch break

  1102. risks like

  1103. telling your

  1104. unbelieving spouse

  1105. or parents

  1106. perhaps tonight

  1107. over tea

  1108. what you heard

  1109. at church today

  1110. take risks

  1111. for the gospel

  1112. because the shadow

  1113. of the almighty

  1114. is over you

  1115. that's why I'm so

  1116. grateful that you

  1117. as a church

  1118. are behind

  1119. church planting

  1120. see we live

  1121. in a culture

  1122. of fear

  1123. and we have

  1124. the only

  1125. message

  1126. of hope

  1127. and refuge

  1128. so let's tell

  1129. people

  1130. let me close

  1131. in prayer

  1132. together

  1133. let's pray

  1134. our father

  1135. we thank you

  1136. for these amazing

  1137. promises in

  1138. the Lord Jesus

  1139. Christ

  1140. that we have

  1141. in him

  1142. father

  1143. sorry for times

  1144. we've become

  1145. so focused

  1146. on ourselves

  1147. we forget

  1148. how great

  1149. you are

  1150. and all the

  1151. promises

  1152. that we have

  1153. in Christ

  1154. father

  1155. for those

  1156. of us

  1157. this evening

  1158. who are

  1159. suffering

  1160. who are

  1161. fearful

  1162. may they

  1163. know your

  1164. love for them

  1165. this evening

  1166. that you are

  1167. for them

  1168. that you are

  1169. with them

  1170. even through

  1171. death itself

  1172. you will be

  1173. there with

  1174. them

  1175. and these

  1176. promises

  1177. are for

  1178. them

  1179. there are

  1180. any here

  1181. who are

  1182. doubting

  1183. their

  1184. salvation

  1185. in Christ

  1186. may they

  1187. be strengthened

  1188. this evening

  1189. at all

  1190. that they

  1191. have in him

  1192. knowing their

  1193. sin has been

  1194. forgiven

  1195. and his

  1196. promises

  1197. are theirs

  1198. father

  1199. knowing that

  1200. you are

  1201. the most

  1202. high

  1203. the almighty

  1204. knowing all

  1205. that we've

  1206. been given

  1207. in Christ

  1208. may you

  1209. help us

  1210. be bold

  1211. with the

  1212. gospel

  1213. knowing that

  1214. we live

  1215. as people

  1216. in the

  1217. shadow

  1218. of the

  1219. almighty

  1220. we thank

  1221. you Lord

  1222. Jesus

  1223. for the

  1224. cross

  1225. and it

  1226. is in

  1227. your name

  1228. we pray

  1229. amen

  1230. my soul

  1231. finds rest

  1232. in God

  1233. alone

  1234. my rock

  1235. and my

  1236. salvation

  1237. a fortress

  1238. strong

  1239. against my

  1240. foes

  1241. and I

  1242. will not

  1243. be shaken

  1244. though lips

  1245. may bless

  1246. and hearts

  1247. may curse

  1248. and lies

  1249. like arrows

  1250. pierce me

  1251. I'll fix

  1252. my heart

  1253. on righteousness

  1254. I'll look

  1255. to him

  1256. who hears

  1257. me

  1258. oh praise

  1259. my

  1260. my

  1261. delight

  1262. and my

  1263. reward

  1264. everlasting

  1265. never failing

  1266. my

  1267. redeemer

  1268. my

  1269. God

  1270. find

  1271. find rest

  1272. my

  1273. soul

  1274. in God

  1275. alone

  1276. amidst

  1277. the world's

  1278. temptations

  1279. when evil

  1280. seeks to

  1281. take a

  1282. hold

  1283. I'll cling

  1284. to my

  1285. salvation

  1286. though riches

  1287. come and

  1288. riches

  1289. go

  1290. don't set

  1291. your

  1292. heart

  1293. upon

  1294. them

  1295. the

  1296. fields

  1297. of hope

  1298. in which

  1299. I sow

  1300. are

  1301. harvested

  1302. in

  1303. heaven

  1304. oh

  1305. praise

  1306. him

  1307. hallelujah

  1308. my

  1309. delight

  1310. my

  1311. reward

  1312. everlasting

  1313. never failing

  1314. my

  1315. redeemer

  1316. my

  1317. God

  1318. I'll

  1319. set my

  1320. gaze

  1321. on God

  1322. alone

  1323. and

  1324. trust

  1325. in him

  1326. completely

  1327. with

  1328. every

  1329. day

  1330. pour

  1331. out

  1332. my

  1333. soul

  1334. and

  1335. he

  1336. will

  1337. prove

  1338. his

  1339. mercy

  1340. though

  1341. life

  1342. is

  1343. but

  1344. a

  1345. fleeting

  1346. breath

  1347. a

  1348. sigh

  1349. too

  1350. deep

  1351. to

  1352. measure

  1353. my

  1354. king

  1355. has

  1356. crushed

  1357. the

  1358. curse

  1359. of

  1360. death

  1361. and

  1362. I

  1363. am

  1364. his

  1365. forever

  1366. oh

  1367. praise

  1368. him

  1369. hallelujah

  1370. my

  1371. delight

  1372. and

  1373. my

  1374. reward

  1375. everlasting

  1376. never

  1377. failing

  1378. my

  1379. redeemer

  1380. my

  1381. God

  1382. God

  1383. is our

  1384. refuge

  1385. and our

  1386. strength

  1387. our

  1388. ever

  1389. present

  1390. aid

  1391. and

  1392. therefore

  1393. though

  1394. the

  1395. earth

  1396. gives

  1397. way

  1398. we

  1399. will

  1400. not

  1401. be

  1402. afraid

  1403. though

  1404. mountains

  1405. fall

  1406. into

  1407. the

  1408. sea

  1409. though

  1410. waters

  1411. foam

  1412. and

  1413. roar

  1414. we

  1415. will

  1416. not

  1417. fear

  1418. though

  1419. mountains

  1420. quake

  1421. as waves
