  1. the text for the sermon this evening comes from psalm 95 so if you have a bible i would ask you

  2. to turn there with me psalm 95 let us hear god's own word

  3. oh come let us sing to the lord let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation

  4. let us come into his presence with thanksgiving let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of

  5. praise for the lord is a great god and a great king above all gods in his hand are the depths of

  6. the earth the heights of the mountains are his also the sea is his for he made it and his hands

  7. formed the dry land oh come let us worship and bow down let us kneel before the lord our maker

  8. for he is our god and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand

  9. today if you hear his voice do not harden your hearts as at meribah as on the day at massa in

  10. the wilderness when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof though they had seen my

  11. work for 40 years i loathed that generation and said there are people who go astray in their heart

  12. and they have not known my ways therefore i swore in my wrath they shall not enter my rest

  13. so far the reading of god's word

  14. well psalm 95 is a rather remarkable psalm

  15. firstly because it is so familiar it is probably the most used call to worship in the history of the

  16. church the words of the psalm just invite the preacher to use these marvelous joyful words to

  17. call god's people to meet before him to sing his praise to worship him we use them this evening

  18. if you can think back we use them last week in the morning service to call us to worship

  19. but this psalm is also remarkable not just for its familiarity but because of the surprising turn it takes

  20. at the end of verse 7 having been so joyful and positive

  21. even excited if we are allowed to use that word this psalm takes a decidedly negative turn at the

  22. end of verse 7 the mood of the psalm changes dramatically into a very solemn warning but this

  23. psalm is also remarkable because it is one of the most quoted parts of the old testament in the new

  24. testament in the book of hebrews two whole chapters chapters 3 and 4 are really a reflection on a

  25. meditation on an application of psalm 95 where the author of the letter to the hebrews compares the

  26. situation of the church in that day to what is described for us in our psalm so the psalm then for its

  27. familiarity for its surprising turn for its importance in scripture deserves our careful attention

  28. but even more i think what we find in this psalm is a remarkable wonderful summary of what it means

  29. to be in covenant with god to be in covenant with god now that word covenant that we as reformed people

  30. delight in that we frequently use as one we might think we're rather familiar with

  31. but like all words that we think we're familiar with we might not know exactly what we mean when we say

  32. we are a covenant people we have a covenant god we are in covenant with god

  33. as a reformed church we believe in covenant theology our confession our doctrinal standard the westminster

  34. confession of faith describes how when god relates to humanity he does so by way of covenant

  35. that god stoops down to create us finite analogies of himself image bearers and he condescends further to

  36. enter into a relationship with us a relationship as his creation a relationship based on binding promises

  37. that's what a covenant is a relationship based on binding promises between parties usually one lesser

  38. and one greater and the scriptures tell us and our confession tells us how that first covenant

  39. was made with adam and his posterity promising life upon condition of perfect and personal obedience

  40. of course adam failed we know that god made another covenant the covenant of grace which freely offers to

  41. sinners life and salvation by jesus christ one is law the other is gospel and then all throughout scripture

  42. we have those specific biblical covenants recorded for us that god has entered into grouped under these

  43. broader arrangements god's covenant with abraham god's covenant with moses and the people of israel at sinai

  44. god's covenant with david each of these covenants in which god works out his plan successively through history

  45. but psalm 95 would also tell us what it means for us to be in covenant with god and it's an interesting

  46. kind of instruction because it's a psalm it's a poem but in a most succinct and affecting way this psalm pulls

  47. together great themes of biblical revelation to help us more profoundly to know to understand our covenant

  48. relationship with our god and the psalm tells us first of all who we are who we are at the most

  49. essential level and it does that in the central verse of this psalm as many of you probably know so often

  50. in hebrew poetry the heart of the matter the essence of the matter is at the center of the psalm

  51. and so i think that's true of this psalm as well for in verse 7 of this psalm we are reminded

  52. for he that is the lord is our god and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand

  53. you see this is the most essential thing to be known about us that we have a god

  54. and so right at the beginning we are reminded of who we are at this most essential level

  55. and there are constant voices in our culture aren't there who would speak to us to tell us who we are

  56. but at the center of who we are is this simple but so profound confession

  57. that we have a god that we are the people of god that is who we are we have been given a name

  58. we have been given an identity we don't turn inward to try to find our authentic self

  59. as the world would have us to do but you see there is an external word a word outside of us that has

  60. been spoken about us that defines us that claims us in our baptism we are baptized in the name of the triune god

  61. in the benediction there is a blessing that seals the church in the name of god

  62. when we belong to christ we have that name christian stamped on our hearts and god will indeed

  63. save everyone who knows who bears the name of his son it is god's speech that defines us that defines reality

  64. just as he created the world out of nothing so too he makes a people for himself out of nothing

  65. drawing us from death to life in the savior so that we are not our own but belong body and soul to him

  66. the great and glorious god becomes our god and we who are a sinful and rebellious people become his people

  67. don't know how many times you've thought about that that statement that is so simple but it can be

  68. easy because it is so simple so familiar to us to forget how really glorious how surprising that fact is

  69. the god who is the god who is the creator of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible

  70. the god who exists in a splendor unimaginable to us the god who knows more than we can even begin

  71. to think about what he knows the god who accomplishes everything according to his purpose

  72. the god who has a plan in detail for each one of us the god who knows the end from the beginning

  73. the god who is greater than all the grandeur of the light years of the universe that we can see through

  74. telescopes that god desires to be our god that god desires to enter into a relationship with us

  75. that is remarkably intimate and caring and providing we have a god with whom we have a relationship

  76. and that relationship is between a shepherd and his sheep we are the people of his pasture

  77. and the sheep of his hand our god is not distant he is not indifferent to us but he is near to us

  78. and it is with his hand that he reaches out to guide us to protect us to care for us that is first of

  79. all what it means to be in covenant with god to belong to him we see this care that he has for his

  80. people most clearly in our lord jesus christ don't we the good shepherd the good shepherd who lays down his

  81. life for the sheep for the sheep for this covenant relationship that is established between our great

  82. and glorious god and us a needy and sinful people comes at a great cost a great price to be paid but

  83. not by us it is paid by god that's the nature of his life his love that the good shepherd lays down his

  84. life for his people that's the the extent of his care we have a god on whom we can call in our need

  85. and he pays to save us from our sin to restore us to himself and that's what this psalm is a great

  86. celebration of that truth that great truth that jesus christ god come in the flesh for us

  87. that our god makes us his own and though we would so often wander like wayward sheep that he gives us

  88. an identity he gives us a home he gives us a name through the blood of the good shepherd who lays down

  89. his life for the sheep so that every day every hour in every circumstance we can be sure that he is

  90. caring for us watching over us providing for us and when we reflect on who we are to whom we belong

  91. this psalm would say we are to be a worshiping people that's the second thing we see here

  92. this psalm would have us to ask what is the character of our god who is our god to whom we belong

  93. so that we might worship him for who he is and what he's done and this little psalm describes our

  94. god in terms of being the creator and the redeemer the creation is celebrated in this psalm to remind

  95. us that the god whom we are called upon to worship the god who is in covenant with us

  96. is the god who has the power to accomplish all things that he has promised the god who brought the world

  97. into existence who raised up mountains and cast down valleys who ruled over the sea and made the dry land

  98. that god can take care of you and me verse 4 in his hand there's the hand of god again in his hand are the depths of the earth

  99. you see that hand that cares so intimately for you and for me is also the hand of such great power

  100. that all the mountains of the earth can be in that hand that all the depths of the sea can be in that hand

  101. from the greatest heights to the greatest depths in this world god is not just there but he is in

  102. control sustaining preserving and there is no limit to his power that's why in verse 3 he is defined as

  103. the one who is the god above all gods the king above all kings there is no power beyond his power

  104. there is no authority beyond his authority

  105. and that's something that's so important for us to come back to again and again

  106. even here in this church as a little reformed community

  107. because i think sometimes we can begin to feel that we are such a small community

  108. and that might make us feel that perhaps god is not thinking of us quite as often as we thought

  109. or that maybe is not quite as in charge now we might not be too impious to think that or say

  110. it out loud but we can feel it sometimes we can wonder when we're tired of the same struggle

  111. when we feel like we're treading water when we feel like we're drifting from where we want to be

  112. to feel that god is not really as in charge as he is made out to be

  113. we might look around and wish to see a church that is greater in numbers

  114. we might look around scotland and wish to see a church that is stronger and more vibrant greater in numbers

  115. but we must remember are the people gathered here now unimportant to our god

  116. is the lord not accomplishing his purpose

  117. is the god who made us the god who made scotland not faithful to care for us

  118. you see that is the assurance we have here that's what this psalm rejoices in

  119. that our god is the great god over all things and that what he accomplishes according to the pleasure of his will

  120. is what he delights in and it is what we should delight in and that nothing will hinder him in his purpose in his power

  121. he's not only the great creator god

  122. he is also the great redeemer god

  123. oh come verse one says oh come let us sing to the lord let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation

  124. now that phrase god is the rock of our salvation is a fairly familiar image particularly throughout the psalms

  125. god again and again is referred to as that rock of salvation that image that brings with it a great sense of

  126. stability reliability reliability solidity

  127. god can be depended upon when he makes a promise

  128. god can be depended upon when he says he will save

  129. but when psalm 95 here speaks of god as the rock of our salvation

  130. particularly when it goes on to speak of meribah and massa

  131. there's another sense in which rock is being used here

  132. one that is full of significance that we should not miss

  133. you remember israel

  134. coming out of egypt

  135. camping at rephidim

  136. that place later becoming known as massa and meribah

  137. the place of grumbling and complaining

  138. exodus 17

  139. we have there that remarkable story of israel complaining that god brought them out

  140. into the wilderness to die

  141. why did we ever leave egypt

  142. what a remarkably short memory those people had

  143. how quickly were they inclined to say

  144. oh we had it better in egypt

  145. and how they complained against moses that moses had brought them out in the wilderness

  146. to die how they suspected that god's purpose for them was not life and salvation but death and destruction

  147. and when they were thirsty

  148. they complained

  149. they grumbled

  150. but what did god do

  151. he sent his prophet moses with his staff

  152. that staff that had parted the red sea

  153. that staff that had led the people through the sea on dry ground

  154. and moses struck the rock there

  155. and from that rock poured forth water

  156. living water

  157. the water of life

  158. water to assuage the thirst of these people

  159. so that they might know that god's plan was not that they should die in the wilderness

  160. but that they should be delivered

  161. psalm 95 is speaking about that rock

  162. the rock from which the water of life flows forth

  163. and so these people who sing this psalm rejoice that god is their savior

  164. their provider

  165. the one who gives them the water of life

  166. as we read from first corinthians 10

  167. paul says that that rock that rock was christ

  168. that rock represented to the people the presence

  169. the power the provision of christ for them in their need

  170. so this rock here is not just a dry but solid rock

  171. it is the rock from which comes forth the water of life

  172. it is the rock from which comes forth water to give relief to the thirsty

  173. to give life to the dying

  174. to bring salvation

  175. that rock is our savior

  176. that rock is christ

  177. so here is a great cause to rejoice in the gospel

  178. the good news that we are not left to die in the wilderness

  179. but that our god is faithful to deliver us

  180. so we ought to come to him

  181. with hearts full of gratitude

  182. come into his courts with thanksgiving

  183. and his gates with praise

  184. you see that is what we do here

  185. sunday by sunday

  186. as we gather together

  187. we come to reflect on who our god is

  188. as creator and as redeemer

  189. we come to sing his praise

  190. we come to be reminded of his promises

  191. we come to be filled again and again

  192. with that amazing truth

  193. we have a god

  194. the great god

  195. who cares for us

  196. the great king above all gods

  197. there is no power that can stand against him

  198. this is why our forebearers delighted to sing the psalms

  199. because the psalms are

  200. and need to be so precious to us

  201. they so remarkably lift up for us

  202. the character of that god

  203. the deliverance that we have in him

  204. they would bid us to bring our concerns to him

  205. like a little child coming to his father

  206. not out of fear

  207. but because he knows his father loves him

  208. the psalms call us to worship him

  209. the psalms call us to find our identity

  210. in him

  211. and that picture of worship

  212. that is presented here for us

  213. is so impressive isn't it

  214. it is a picture of great joy

  215. and great reverence

  216. we are to be joyful in the presence of god

  217. and we are also to be reverent

  218. let us kneel before the lord our maker

  219. as psalm 2 says

  220. rejoice

  221. with trembling

  222. because somehow coming before this great king

  223. is both the deepest and profoundest joy of our hearts

  224. and also the most solemn reality of our lives

  225. so we are called to worship this god

  226. because we are his covenant people

  227. in this great relationship with him

  228. which god himself has established for us

  229. at great cost

  230. in the blood of his own son

  231. and then comes that turn

  232. that surprising turn

  233. in the second half of verse 7

  234. the psalm here

  235. issues a warning

  236. a most solemn warning

  237. for us

  238. the psalm says

  239. that as we come with our praise

  240. to god

  241. as we come to worship him

  242. to thank him

  243. for all that he has done

  244. let us never forget

  245. to listen

  246. to him

  247. you see we must never be so carried away

  248. with our activity

  249. that we fail to listen

  250. that we become apathetic

  251. that we grow

  252. indifferent

  253. ungrateful

  254. to all he has done for us

  255. forgetful

  256. to the death

  257. from which we have been delivered

  258. here is a direct application

  259. the psalm says

  260. today

  261. today

  262. Hebrews 3 and 4

  263. would remind us

  264. today

  265. means every day

  266. of our sojourn

  267. as the people of god

  268. today

  269. hear his voice

  270. today

  271. you

  272. if you hear his voice

  273. do you hear his voice

  274. of course you do

  275. because the word has been read

  276. the word is being preached

  277. that is the word of our god

  278. and god would say to us here

  279. don't close your ears

  280. don't neglect

  281. your god

  282. and do not harden your heart

  283. as at meribb

  284. as on the day

  285. at massa

  286. in the wilderness

  287. when your fathers

  288. put me to the test

  289. and put me to the proof

  290. though they had seen

  291. my work

  292. what was the essence

  293. of the test

  294. to which the people

  295. put god

  296. there at rephedim

  297. they grumbled

  298. they said

  299. you know

  300. i don't think god

  301. is really with us

  302. and don't you see

  303. how fundamentally

  304. that is a betrayal

  305. of god

  306. by his people

  307. god who created us

  308. god who

  309. redeemed us

  310. who has loved us

  311. who gives his name

  312. to us

  313. to his people

  314. and then to be told

  315. by his people

  316. we're not so sure

  317. about you

  318. we're not so sure

  319. about your purpose

  320. or your love

  321. we're not so sure

  322. about your power

  323. or your strength

  324. maybe we'll hedge

  325. our bets

  326. a little bit

  327. after all

  328. what do you seem

  329. to be doing

  330. for me right now

  331. you notice

  332. that little phrase

  333. at the end of verse 9

  334. though they had

  335. seen my work

  336. you see

  337. this is describing

  338. a people

  339. who saw

  340. who didn't just

  341. read about

  342. who didn't just

  343. hear preachers

  344. talk about

  345. but who saw

  346. the plagues

  347. on Egypt

  348. who saw

  349. the angel

  350. of death's

  351. effect

  352. on the firstborn

  353. of Egypt

  354. who saw

  355. that they had

  356. been passed over

  357. who saw

  358. the pillar of fire

  359. and of cloud

  360. who saw

  361. the red sea

  362. open before them

  363. who saw

  364. the manna

  365. from heaven

  366. and tasted it

  367. and swallowed it

  368. and they put

  369. their god

  370. to the test

  371. they said

  372. is god

  373. really with us

  374. does god

  375. really care

  376. does god

  377. care

  378. whether we

  379. are faithful

  380. to him

  381. or not

  382. is god

  383. going to

  384. provide for us

  385. today

  386. right now

  387. or are we

  388. just sort of

  389. on our own

  390. here

  391. need to do

  392. the best

  393. we can

  394. according to

  395. our own

  396. wisdom

  397. you see

  398. each of those

  399. questions

  400. the people

  401. ask

  402. comes expecting

  403. a negative

  404. answer

  405. no god

  406. doesn't

  407. know

  408. no god

  409. doesn't

  410. care

  411. no god

  412. won't

  413. act

  414. so i'll

  415. follow my

  416. own heart

  417. my own

  418. ways

  419. but psalm 95

  420. pleads with

  421. the people

  422. of god

  423. as hebrews

  424. 3 and 4

  425. plead with

  426. the people

  427. of god

  428. don't think

  429. that way

  430. don't be

  431. that way

  432. listen to

  433. the word

  434. of god

  435. believe

  436. the word

  437. of god

  438. follow

  439. the word

  440. of god

  441. and that's

  442. the only way

  443. to avoid

  444. that really

  445. terrible

  446. curse

  447. here

  448. i loathed

  449. that people

  450. for 40

  451. years

  452. said the

  453. lord

  454. and i

  455. declared

  456. in my

  457. wrath

  458. they shall

  459. not enter

  460. my rest

  461. that should

  462. be a most

  463. chilling

  464. word to

  465. us

  466. as the

  467. people

  468. of god

  469. spoken

  470. not to

  471. the world

  472. of idolaters

  473. spoken

  474. not to

  475. the world

  476. of unbelief

  477. but spoken

  478. to those

  479. who had

  480. seen the

  481. great redeeming

  482. work of

  483. god

  484. who had

  485. just

  486. brought

  487. them

  488. out

  489. of

  490. egypt

  491. what was

  492. the rest

  493. that they

  494. would not

  495. enter

  496. it was

  497. it seems

  498. to me

  499. the promised

  500. land

  501. that land

  502. that god

  503. had said

  504. i will give

  505. you a land

  506. flowing with

  507. milk and

  508. honey

  509. where you

  510. shall have

  511. rest from

  512. your enemies

  513. where you

  514. shall have

  515. fellowship

  516. with me

  517. where you

  518. shall have

  519. blessedness

  520. a land

  521. that was

  522. to be a

  523. foretaste

  524. of the

  525. new heavens

  526. and the

  527. new earth

  528. that shall

  529. yet come

  530. into being

  531. a land

  532. that was

  533. to be

  534. a symbol

  535. of the

  536. eternal

  537. rest

  538. to come

  539. how often

  540. are we

  541. like

  542. israel

  543. at

  544. rephedim

  545. you see

  546. that's why

  547. the story

  548. is repeated

  549. for us

  550. so often

  551. in the

  552. scriptures

  553. because

  554. israel's

  555. story is

  556. so often

  557. our story

  558. isn't it

  559. we might

  560. think that

  561. when christ

  562. walks among

  563. the lamp

  564. stands in

  565. the book

  566. of the

  567. revelation

  568. there are

  569. solemn

  570. warnings

  571. there

  572. aren't

  573. there

  574. that

  575. lamp

  576. stands

  577. can

  578. be

  579. removed

  580. and one

  581. of the

  582. solemn

  583. duties

  584. of studying

  585. church

  586. history

  587. is to

  588. notice

  589. when that

  590. has

  591. happened

  592. when the

  593. people of

  594. god

  595. seem to

  596. have

  597. hardened

  598. their

  599. hearts

  600. against

  601. him

  602. seem to

  603. have

  604. closed

  605. their

  606. ears

  607. to his

  608. word

  609. despite

  610. all that

  611. god

  612. has

  613. done

  614. and

  615. have

  616. stopped

  617. listening

  618. to

  619. their

  620. god

  621. so how

  622. do we

  623. avoid

  624. that

  625. how do

  626. we

  627. avoid

  628. hardening

  629. our

  630. hearts

  631. we must

  632. always

  633. listen

  634. to the

  635. word

  636. of god

  637. to the

  638. voice

  639. of our

  640. shepherd

  641. you see

  642. it is

  643. the word

  644. of god

  645. that keeps

  646. the message

  647. of god

  648. central

  649. to his

  650. people

  651. that word

  652. that holds

  653. up for

  654. us

  655. again

  656. and again

  657. the great

  658. redemptive

  659. work

  660. of god

  661. in his

  662. son

  663. our lord

  664. and savior

  665. jesus

  666. christ

  667. because

  668. though

  669. those

  670. people

  671. grumbled

  672. they

  673. found

  674. water

  675. in the

  676. desert

  677. and so

  678. the story

  679. of israel

  680. at

  681. rephidim

  682. is a

  683. warning

  684. to us

  685. but let

  686. us

  687. loved

  688. ones

  689. not

  690. lose

  691. sight

  692. of the

  693. fact

  694. that

  695. there

  696. is

  697. great

  698. comfort

  699. here

  700. as

  701. well

  702. because

  703. the

  704. god

  705. to whom

  706. we

  707. belong

  708. provides

  709. for his

  710. people

  711. he

  712. says

  713. there

  714. is

  715. hope

  716. for

  717. sinners

  718. there

  719. is

  720. good

  721. news

  722. even

  723. for

  724. those

  725. who

  726. grumble

  727. even

  728. for

  729. those

  730. who

  731. struggle

  732. with

  733. ingratitude

  734. don't

  735. you

  736. see

  737. he

  738. says

  739. my

  740. gospel

  741. for

  742. you

  743. is

  744. that

  745. free

  746. it

  747. is

  748. christ

  749. performance

  750. for

  751. you

  752. and

  753. so

  754. every

  755. christian

  756. must

  757. say

  758. the

  759. lord

  760. jesus

  761. christ

  762. lived

  763. and

  764. died

  765. for

  766. my

  767. sake

  768. for

  769. my

  770. lasting

  771. good

  772. let

  773. me

  774. therefore

  775. live

  776. for

  777. him

  778. secure

  779. in the

  780. love

  781. with

  782. which

  783. he

  784. loves

  785. me

  786. god

  787. has

  788. provided

  789. a

  790. righteousness

  791. of his

  792. own

  793. for

  794. us

  795. and

  796. therefore

  797. we

  798. have

  799. peace

  800. with

  801. him

  802. let

  803. us

  804. then

  805. follow

  806. our

  807. shepherd

  808. let

  809. us

  810. hear

  811. his

  812. voice

  813. and

  814. follow

  815. after

  816. him

  817. with

  818. joy

  819. and

  820. thanksgiving

  821. when the

  822. book of

  823. hebrews

  824. turns to

  825. this

  826. psalm

  827. in

  828. hebrews

  829. 3

  830. it

  831. begins

  832. christ

  833. was

  834. faithful

  835. over

  836. the

  837. household

  838. of

  839. god

  840. and

  841. that

  842. it

  843. appeals

  844. to

  845. us

  846. in

  847. him

  848. to

  849. be

  850. faithful

  851. not

  852. in

  853. our

  854. own

  855. strength

  856. not

  857. with

  858. our

  859. own

  860. wisdom

  861. but

  862. as

  863. the

  864. covenant

  865. people

  866. of

  867. god

  868. who

  869. have

  870. been

  871. redeemed

  872. who

  873. have

  874. seen

  875. the

  876. deliverance

  877. of

  878. the

  879. lord

  880. who

  881. have

  882. heard

  883. the

  884. word

  885. of

  886. their

  887. shepherd

  888. who

  889. believe

  890. and

  891. follow

  892. him

  893. that

  894. good

  895. news

  896. that

  897. gospel

  898. of

  899. salvation

  900. in

  901. christ

  902. that

  903. should

  904. be

  905. the

  906. wind

  907. in

  908. our

  909. sails

  910. to

  911. fill

  912. us

  913. with

  914. gratitude

  915. that

  916. we

  917. might

  918. be

  919. renewed

  920. in

  921. our

  922. listening

  923. in

  924. our

  925. obeying

  926. in

  927. our

  928. following

  929. him

  930. filled

  931. with

  932. joy

  933. filled

  934. with

  935. thanksgiving

  936. eager

  937. to

  938. do

  939. his

  940. will

  941. and

  942. so

  943. psalm

  944. 95

  945. brings

  946. together

  947. for

  948. us

  949. these

  950. great

  951. pieces

  952. of

  953. biblical

  954. revelation

  955. to

  956. instruct

  957. us

  958. to

  959. remind

  960. us

  961. above

  962. all

  963. that

  964. we

  965. have

  966. a

  967. god

  968. to

  969. whom

  970. we

  971. belong

  972. we

  973. are

  974. not

  975. our

  976. own

  977. that

  978. we

  979. are

  980. to

  981. worship

  982. him

  983. that

  984. we

  985. have

  986. not

  987. yet

  988. fully

  989. entered

  990. the

  991. rest

  992. that

  993. is

  994. promised

  995. to

  996. us

  997. that

  998. like

  999. israel

  1000. we

  1001. are

  1002. still

  1003. a

  1004. wilderness

  1005. people

  1006. still

  1007. a

  1008. pilgrim

  1009. people

  1010. and

  1011. we

  1012. need

  1013. to

  1014. keep

  1015. our

  1016. eyes

  1017. focused

  1018. on

  1019. where

  1020. we

  1021. are

  1022. going

  1023. and

  1024. it

  1025. is

  1026. the

  1027. Lord

  1028. Jesus

  1029. Christ

  1030. who

  1031. will

  1032. lead

  1033. us

  1034. there

  1035. as

  1036. our

  1037. good

  1038. shepherd

  1039. so

  1040. loved

  1041. ones

  1042. let us

  1043. listen

  1044. to

  1045. his

  1046. voice

  1047. let us

  1048. hear

  1049. his

  1050. voice

  1051. that

  1052. we

  1053. might

  1054. know

  1055. that

  1056. to

  1057. all

  1058. those

  1059. who

  1060. are

  1061. in

  1062. Christ

  1063. Jesus

  1064. who

  1065. bear

  1066. his

  1067. name

  1068. as

  1069. his

  1070. people

  1071. as

  1072. his

  1073. covenant

  1074. people

  1075. there

  1076. is

  1077. indeed

  1078. a

  1079. great

  1080. day

  1081. of

  1082. rest

  1083. coming

  1084. amen

  1085. let us

  1086. pray

  1087. together

  1088. oh

  1089. Lord

  1090. our

  1091. God

  1092. we

  1093. are

  1094. so

  1095. thankful

  1096. that

  1097. you

  1098. indeed

  1099. are

  1100. our

  1101. God

  1102. that

  1103. you

  1104. have

  1105. not

  1106. left

  1107. us

  1108. to

  1109. suffer

  1110. in

  1111. our

  1112. sin

  1113. and

  1114. misery

  1115. but

  1116. have

  1117. redeemed

  1118. us

  1119. we

  1120. are

  1121. so

  1122. thankful

  1123. to

  1124. know

  1125. how

  1126. we

  1127. may

  1128. worship

  1129. you

  1130. our

  1131. creator

  1132. and

  1133. our

  1134. savior

  1135. through

  1136. your

  1137. word

  1138. help

  1139. us

  1140. to

  1141. know

  1142. that

  1143. we

  1144. may

  1145. always

  1146. call

  1147. upon

  1148. you

  1149. in

  1150. our

  1151. need

  1152. help

  1153. us

  1154. to

  1155. trust

  1156. you

  1157. we

  1158. ask

  1159. that

  1160. you

  1161. would

  1162. encourage

  1163. us

  1164. in

  1165. the

  1166. gospel

  1167. that

  1168. great

  1169. truth

  1170. that

  1171. the

  1172. Lord

  1173. Jesus

  1174. Christ

  1175. came

  1176. to

  1177. save

  1178. not

  1179. the

  1180. righteous

  1181. but

  1182. the

  1183. wicked

  1184. so

  1185. fill

  1186. us

  1187. with

  1188. joy

  1189. and

  1190. thanksgiving

  1191. we

  1192. ask

  1193. that

  1194. we

  1195. may

  1196. always

  1197. walk

  1198. in

  1199. the

  1200. paths

  1201. to

  1202. which

  1203. you

  1204. call

  1205. us

  1206. for

  1207. we

  1208. pray

  1209. in

  1210. Jesus

  1211. name

  1212. amen

  1213. let us

  1214. stand

  1215. together

  1216. then

  1217. to sing

  1218. our

  1219. final

  1220. item

  1221. of

  1222. praise

  1223. a

  1224. song

  1225. of

  1226. thanksgiving

  1227. to

  1228. the

  1229. Lord

  1230. how

  1231. firm

  1232. a

  1233. foundation

  1234. all

  1235. of

  1236. hi

  1237. you

  1238. can

  1239. ask

  1240. anything
