  1. The scripture reading comes from 1 Samuel chapter 23 and 24.

    1 Samuel 23 chapter mention

  2. Please follow along on the screen in your bulletin or in your own Bible.

  3. In chapter 23 verse 14 we read.

  4. And David remained in the strongholds in the wilderness,

  5. in the hill country of the wilderness of Ziph.

  6. And Saul sought after him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.

  7. David saw that Saul had come to seek out his life.

  8. David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh.

  9. And Jonathan, Saul's son, rose and went to David at Horesh

  10. and strengthened his hand in the Lord.

  11. And he said to him, Do not fear, for the hand of Saul, my father, shall not find you.

  12. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you.

  13. Saul, my father, also knows this.

  14. And the two of them made a covenant before the Lord.

  15. David remained at Horesh, and Jonathan went home.

  16. Then the Siphites went to Saul at Acubert, saying,

  17. Is not David hiding among us in the stronghold of Horesh,

  18. in the hills of Hakkila, which is south of Jeshimon?

  19. Now come down, O king, according to all your heart's desire to come down,

  20. and our part shall be to surrender him into the king's hand.

  21. And Saul said, May you be blessed by the Lord, for you have had compassion on me.

  22. Go, make yet more sure.

  23. Know and see the place where his foot is, and who has seen him there.

  24. For it's told to me that he is very kind.

  25. See, therefore, take note of all the lurking places where he hides,

  26. and come back to me with sure information.

  27. Then I will go with you.

  28. And if he is in the land, I will search him out among all thousands of Judea.

  29. And they arose and went as if I had a Saul.

  30. Now David and his men were in the wilderness of Ma'on,

  31. in the Arabah, to the south of Jeshimon.

  32. And Saul and his men went to seek him.

  33. And David was told, so he went down to the rock,

  34. and lived in the wilderness of Ma'on.

  35. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Ma'on.

  36. Saul went on one side of the mountain.

  37. And David and his men on the other side of the mountain.

  38. And David was hurrying to get away from Saul.

  39. As Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them,

  40. a messenger came to Saul, saying,

  41. Hurry, come, for the Philistines have made a raid against the land.

  42. So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines.

  43. Therefore, that place was called the Rock of Escape.

  44. And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of En Gedi.

  45. When Saul returned from following the Philistines,

  46. he was told, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi.

  47. Then Saul took 3,000 chosen men out of all Israel

  48. and went to seek David and his men in front of the wild goat's rock.

  49. And he came to the sheepfold by the way, where there was a cave.

  50. And Saul went in to relieve himself.

  51. Now David and his men were sitting in the innermost part of the cave.

  52. And the men of David said to him,

  53. Here is the day of which the Lord said to you,

  54. Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand,

  55. and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.

  56. Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul's robe.

  57. And afterward, David's heart struck him

  58. because he had cut off a corner of Saul's robe.

  59. He said to his men,

  60. The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my Lord,

  61. the Lord's anointed,

  62. to put out my hand against him,

  63. seeing he is the Lord's anointed.

  64. So David persuaded his men with these words

  65. and did not permit them to attack Saul.

  66. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on its way.

  67. Afterward, David arose and went out of the cave

  68. and called after Saul,

  69. My Lord, the king.

  70. And when Saul looked behind him,

  71. David bowed with his face to the earth and paid homage.

  72. And David said to Saul,

  73. Why do you listen to the words of men who say,

  74. Behold, David seeks your harm?

  75. Behold, this day your eyes have seen

  76. how the Lord gave you today into my hand in the cave.

  77. And some told me to kill you,

  78. but I spared you.

  79. I said, I will not put out my hand against my Lord.

  80. For he is the Lord's anointed.

  81. See, my father,

  82. see the corner of your robe in my hand.

  83. For by the fact that I cut off the corner of your robe

  84. and did not kill you,

  85. you may know and see

  86. there is no wrong or treason in my hands.

  87. I have not sinned against you,

  88. though you hunt my life to take it.

  89. May the Lord judge between me and you.

  90. May the Lord avenge me against you,

  91. but my hand shall not be against you.

  92. As the Proverbs of the ancients say,

  93. out of the wicked come wickedness,

  94. but my hand shall not be against you.

  95. After whom has the King of Israel come out?

  96. After whom do you pursue?

  97. After a dead dog?

  98. After a flea?

  99. May the Lord therefore be judge

  100. and give sentence between me and you

  101. and see to it and plead my cause

  102. and deliver me from your hand.

  103. As soon as David had finished speaking these words to Saul,

  104. Saul said,

  105. Is this your voice, my son David?

  106. And Saul lifted up his voice and wept.

  107. He said to David,

  108. You are more righteous than I,

  109. for you have repaid me good,

  110. whereas I have repaid you evil.

  111. And you have declared this day

  112. how you have dealt well with me,

  113. in that you did not kill me

  114. when the Lord put me into your hands.

  115. For if a man finds his enemy,

  116. will he let him go away safe?

  117. So may the Lord reward you with good,

  118. for what you have done to me this day.

  119. And now behold,

  120. I know that you shall surely be King,

  121. and that the Kingdom of Israel

  122. shall be established in your hands.

  123. Swear to me, therefore, by the Lord,

  124. that you will not cut off my offspring after me,

  125. and that you will not destroy my name

  126. out of my father's house.

  127. And David saw this to Saul.

  128. Then Saul went home,

  129. but David and his men went up to the stronghold.

  130. This is the word of God.

  131. Great.

  132. Thank you so much, Bernard and Angeline,

  133. for reading.

  134. I know it's a long passage,

  135. but it's just really great to be able to hear God's word.

  136. And this is an amazing story this morning.

  137. So really welcome to all of you,

  138. wherever you are.

  139. Let's just start with praying

  140. and asking God to really open our hearts this morning.

  141. Father, you have been faithful to us.

  142. You are continually faithful to us.

  143. Father, I pray that this morning

  144. we would be reminded again

  145. of how faithful you are to us.

  146. Forgive us where we lose sight of that.

  147. Open our ears that we would not be like Saul

  148. who is deaf to you,

  149. but we would be like David

  150. whose heart is open for you to speak.

  151. Lord, I pray that our hearts would be

  152. touched by you this morning.

  153. Holy Spirit, would you come in power?

  154. Would you speak to us right where we are?

  155. Would you bring your word to bear on our hearts?

  156. And would you lift our eyes up

  157. to see how great and how glorious

  158. and how big you are?

  159. Lord, we pray even in the midst of this pandemic,

  160. Father, you are still on the throne.

  161. Help us to see you on the throne

  162. and to trust you,

  163. that you are good and you are faithful.

  164. In Jesus' name, amen.

  165. Amen.

  166. Great.

  167. So we're going to carry on

  168. looking in our series in 1 Samuel today.

  169. And let me just start with this.

  170. My son, Etienne, has a problem.

  171. He's only two, but he's entitled.

  172. You see, my one-year-old daughter, Elodie,

  173. can be playing with a toy

  174. and as soon as he sees her,

  175. instantly he just cannot stand her playing with it.

  176. If he's sitting down, he jumps up,

  177. he starts screaming,

  178. and he has to grab and snatch the toy away from her.

  179. And they usually have a little bit

  180. of a wrestling match for a while.

  181. And even if he's eating,

  182. we as parents will tell him,

  183. hey, Etienne, just wait a minute.

  184. You'll get a toy soon, but just wait.

  185. But he can't wait.

  186. Because, you know, when you're two,

  187. you have to have everything instantly

  188. in your timing right now.

  189. And he will be seriously miserable

  190. if he doesn't get things his way,

  191. his timing, and what he wants.

  192. And part of our parenting

  193. and part of learning how to grow up

  194. is teaching him and helping him

  195. to learn how to wait without grasping.

  196. And without that kind of sense of,

  197. I need this, I deserve it,

  198. entitlement right now.

  199. But to know that actually he can trust

  200. the Heavenly Father

  201. who is an even better parent than we are.

  202. And that's what actually this passage is all about.

  203. And so I've got three things

  204. that we're going to look at in this passage,

  205. which is waiting, trusting, and then seeing.

  206. Okay, so we're going to start with waiting.

  207. Because we're looking today

  208. at the story of David.

  209. And if you've been tracking with us

  210. over the series so far,

  211. you will know that the people of Israel

  212. have wanted a king to help fight their battles.

  213. That's what was good in their eyes.

  214. And they wanted someone

  215. who was like the nations, who looked good.

  216. And so God had given them Saul,

  217. but actually God had then rejected Saul

  218. and chosen David as king

  219. because Saul, his heart was all about his own honor.

  220. He was all about his own outward appearance.

  221. But David's heart was a heart after God's own heart

  222. and wanted to trust him and walk with him.

  223. And so the whole of the story

  224. is how God has been shaping and working in David's heart,

  225. even in the mundane day-to-day of shepherding

  226. where it looked like nothing was happening.

  227. He was working in his heart,

  228. preparing him for kingship

  229. by teaching him how to trust him,

  230. by teaching him how to see the bigness

  231. and goodness of God,

  232. which would stand him instead

  233. for the rest of his life.

  234. And up to this point,

  235. everything had been going well for David.

  236. Do you remember last week?

  237. He's just killed Goliath.

  238. He gets promoted to the king's court.

  239. He's winning tons of battles.

  240. Everybody loves him.

  241. And then Saul hears the women saying,

  242. Saul killed thousands,

  243. but David,

  244. his ten thousands.

  245. And it says Saul was so angry,

  246. his jealousy gets hold of him

  247. and he seeks his life.

  248. He seeks to kill him

  249. because his jealousy just blinds him

  250. to what God's purpose is

  251. and what God has said.

  252. And David becomes a rival

  253. to exterminate and get rid of.

  254. And so David has to go on the run.

  255. And he goes on the run as a fugitive.

  256. And though he is completely innocent,

  257. he is driven out

  258. and he wanders in the Judean desert.

  259. We might have a picture of the Judean desert here,

  260. going from place to place,

  261. just running in hiding.

  262. And scholars believe

  263. that it was for at least seven years

  264. that he's in the wilderness.

  265. And then a total of 10 to 13 years

  266. between the time when God had promised

  267. that he would be king

  268. and the fulfillment of that promise.

  269. 10 to 13 years.

  270. All because of one man's insecurity

  271. and hardness of heart and soul.

  272. And in the waiting,

  273. God's promises look further away

  274. than ever before.

  275. Because in chapter 23,

  276. there's a part we didn't read,

  277. which is just before this,

  278. 1 to 14.

  279. David goes to the town of Kelah

  280. and he actually saves this town

  281. from the Philistines.

  282. But then in repayment,

  283. the people of Kelah

  284. are getting ready

  285. to betray him to Saul.

  286. And so he has to run away.

  287. And then we see in verse 19 to 29,

  288. in this part of the passage,

  289. David is in the territory

  290. of the Ziphites,

  291. who are descendants of Caleb,

  292. who was one of the spies.

  293. He went into the land

  294. with Joshua into the promised land.

  295. And they betray David

  296. just out of personal ambition.

  297. They see him there and they say,

  298. hey, Saul,

  299. isn't David hiding among us?

  300. Now you come down

  301. and our part shall be

  302. to surrender him

  303. into the king's hand

  304. so they can get some favor

  305. from the king afterwards.

  306. I mean,

  307. this is great, isn't it?

  308. For someone who is meant to be king.

  309. And you know,

  310. what happens next is

  311. it's actually like a Bond movie,

  312. kind of car chase,

  313. without cars.

  314. But David is around

  315. one side of the hill.

  316. Saul is running

  317. the other side of the hill.

  318. And you can see

  319. the drone shot of the camera

  320. coming down

  321. and Saul is closing in on David.

  322. He's about to surround him.

  323. He's cornered.

  324. It's kind of nail-biting,

  325. heart-pumping stuff.

  326. And just as he's about to get him,

  327. Saul's phone rings

  328. and he gets a message.

  329. He needs to fight a major fire

  330. in another part of his kingdom.

  331. The Philistines are attacking

  332. and he has to back off.

  333. And David,

  334. with all that stress,

  335. breathes a sigh of relief

  336. and he actually calls this place

  337. the rock of escape

  338. because God has delivered him.

  339. But it was super tight.

  340. And you could,

  341. you couldn't blame David

  342. if at this moment,

  343. with all that's going on,

  344. he might have had some doubts.

  345. He might have been going,

  346. God, I thought you said

  347. I'd be king,

  348. but this wasn't what I bargained for.

  349. I didn't expect this to happen.

  350. This is way too stressful.

  351. What's happening?

  352. Where are you, God, in this?

  353. But you know,

  354. one thing this passage

  355. is teaching us

  356. is never despise waiting

  357. because you know,

  358. in the waiting,

  359. God is often doing

  360. his deepest work in our lives.

  361. You know,

  362. waiting is a workshop,

  363. not a waste.

  364. It's a faith factory,

  365. not failure.

  366. You know,

  367. in my life,

  368. half of my life

  369. has been spent waiting for things,

  370. for health,

  371. for jobs,

  372. for education,

  373. for relationship,

  374. for kids,

  375. you name it.

  376. And waiting,

  377. I can tell you,

  378. is super hard.

  379. We know that.

  380. It's super hard

  381. because you're not in control

  382. and things are uncertain.

  383. And sometimes,

  384. you know,

  385. you can wait

  386. and it can feel easier

  387. when you really sense

  388. God's presence is with you,

  389. sustaining you.

  390. But we even know

  391. from the Psalms

  392. that at times,

  393. David didn't even feel

  394. God's presence.

  395. He says in Psalm 22,

  396. my God,

  397. my God,

  398. why have you forsaken me?

  399. God even seems absent

  400. when he's trusting him.

  401. Where does he go to

  402. in the midst of this?

  403. Where is God?

  404. But the amazing thing

  405. is that in the wait,

  406. God is sculpting David's heart

  407. to be a man of prayer,

  408. a man whose faith

  409. isn't in his feelings,

  410. as we talked about

  411. with the Lent thing,

  412. but it's in the character

  413. of his God.

  414. Here's Psalm 54,

  415. which is actually written

  416. precisely at this time

  417. when he's betrayed

  418. by the Ziphites.

  419. He says this,

  420. he says,

  421. oh God,

  422. save me by your name

  423. and vindicate me

  424. by your might.

  425. Do you see where

  426. he's looking for his salvation?

  427. He says,

  428. strangers have risen against me.

  429. Ruthless men seek my life.

  430. And here's what he says,

  431. behold,

  432. God is my helper.

  433. The Lord is the upholder

  434. or the sustainer

  435. of my life.

  436. Do you see what's happening?

  437. Right in the midst

  438. of the wait,

  439. he's learning to love God

  440. and trust God for God,

  441. to have confidence in him,

  442. regardless of the feelings,

  443. regardless of the circumstances.

  444. He's getting character

  445. formed in him.

  446. Rock solid faith.

  447. And for us,

  448. many of us right now,

  449. you know,

  450. we're in times of waiting.

  451. I mean,

  452. there's the pandemic

  453. that's going on.

  454. There's a lot of uncertainty.

  455. I'm not sure

  456. what you're waiting for,

  457. whether it's travel,

  458. whether it's seeing family,

  459. maybe it's other things.

  460. Maybe it's the clarity

  461. for a decision you've got to make.

  462. Maybe there are desires

  463. that God has birthed in your heart

  464. and you just,

  465. like dreams to be used

  466. for his kingdom,

  467. but it just seems like

  468. it's not happening

  469. and you don't know when

  470. things are going to happen.

  471. Don't despise the wait

  472. because waiting teaches you

  473. to let God be God.

  474. And it teaches you

  475. how to run to him

  476. as your helper

  477. and find him

  478. as the sustainer

  479. and upholder of your life.

  480. And do you know

  481. what we need in the wait?

  482. We need a Jonathan

  483. in the wait

  484. because sandwiched

  485. in the middle

  486. of these two situations

  487. with Keller

  488. and the Ziphites

  489. is verse 15 to 19

  490. where it says,

  491. And Jonathan,

  492. Saul's son,

  493. rose and went to David

  494. and strengthened

  495. his hand in God

  496. saying,

  497. Don't fear,

  498. you shall be king.

  499. This is amazing.

  500. You see,

  501. Jonathan,

  502. I wish we had time

  503. to do a study on this guy.

  504. He is,

  505. he's an amazing guy.

  506. He's actually,

  507. he's the Prince Charles of Israel.

  508. He's next in line

  509. to the throne.

  510. He's the heir.

  511. But instead of grasping

  512. onto the power

  513. that he thinks

  514. he's entitled to,

  515. thinking he deserves

  516. the throne,

  517. do you know what he does?

  518. He lays down

  519. being number one

  520. and he says,

  521. Hey, I'm okay

  522. with being number two

  523. because God,

  524. I know what God

  525. is doing here

  526. and I can trust him

  527. and he risks

  528. his entire life

  529. to come and encourage

  530. and support David

  531. right at the time

  532. when he needs it.

  533. You know,

  534. right in our waiting,

  535. we need promises.

  536. We need reminders

  537. of God's promises to us.

  538. We need Jonathan.

  539. We need a Jonathan

  540. in our lives

  541. and we need to be

  542. Jonathan's to other people.

  543. So look around

  544. and see

  545. your calling

  546. actually this week

  547. is who can I be

  548. a Jonathan to this week?

  549. Who can I be a Jonathan?

  550. Who can I remind

  551. of the gospel promises

  552. that we can learn

  553. to wait

  554. because we have

  555. a big and a good God

  556. that we can trust in

  557. who's at work right now?

  558. Who are you a Jonathan to?

  559. Because, right,

  560. and here's the end

  561. of the waiting.

  562. Right, sorry,

  563. here's the end

  564. of the first part of waiting.

  565. You see,

  566. this is the last time

  567. Jonathan actually ever

  568. sees David

  569. and spoiler alert,

  570. Jonathan dies.

  571. But he completes

  572. his mission before God.

  573. He's more successful

  574. in God's eyes

  575. than Saul,

  576. his grasping,

  577. entitled father,

  578. Saul,

  579. ever was.

  580. That's the wait.

  581. But secondly,

  582. trusting.

  583. And this is,

  584. this is beautiful.

  585. I love the way

  586. this is written.

  587. This is chapter 24.

    Isaiah 24 chapter mention

  588. It's beautiful

  589. but it's actually tragic

  590. at the same time.

  591. Because Saul,

  592. he's not given up.

  593. He's coming after him.

  594. And so it says,

  595. verse one says,

  596. when Saul returned

  597. from following the Philistines,

  598. he was told,

  599. hey,

  600. behold,

  601. David is in the wilderness

  602. of En Gedi.

  603. Don't you love

  604. those kind of guys?

  605. Like,

  606. who told him?

  607. David,

  608. you know,

  609. David's had enough

  610. betrayal already.

  611. But it says,

  612. then Saul took

  613. 3,000 chosen men

  614. out of all Israel

  615. and went to seek David.

  616. Do you know what?

  617. David's got 400 men.

  618. That's about 10 to 1.

  619. This isn't fair.

  620. Okay?

  621. This is totally outnumbered.

  622. But what's lovely is this.

  623. This is the point

  624. where actually the Bible

  625. gets a little humorous.

  626. It's actually about,

  627. it's a little bit of toilet humor here.

  628. And it's in the Bible.

  629. So it's worth doing.

  630. But it says here,

  631. verse three,

  632. and he came to the sheepfolds,

  633. by the way,

  634. where there was a cave.

  635. And Saul went in to relieve himself.

  636. Now,

  637. David and his men

  638. were sitting in the innermost

  639. parts of the cave.

  640. I mean,

  641. just imagine,

  642. it's a cave.

  643. Okay?

  644. It's dark.

  645. It's smelly.

  646. David and his men

  647. are hiding there,

  648. crouching down for their lives

  649. to escape from Saul,

  650. killing them.

  651. And into their very cave,

  652. out of all the caves

  653. that there were,

  654. and there were a lot,

  655. wanders Saul.

  656. He strips off his armor,

  657. takes off his clothes,

  658. totally naked,

  659. totally vulnerable,

  660. takes down his pants,

  661. starts doing a number two,

  662. right in front of them.

  663. Now,

  664. talk about low-hanging fruit.

  665. Okay?

  666. For a soldier,

  667. this is about as low as it gets.

  668. And the men of David,

  669. they said to him,

  670. here is the day

  671. of which the Lord said to you,

  672. behold,

  673. I will give your enemy

  674. into your hand,

  675. and you shall do to him,

  676. and here's the key,

  677. as it shall seem good to you.

  678. Literally,

  679. that's what is good in your eyes.

  680. You see,

  681. it looks amazing.

  682. God has promised you victory,

  683. David.

  684. He didn't tell you the timing,

  685. but look,

  686. it's right here

  687. on a plate for you.

  688. But the key thing

  689. that David knows

  690. is Saul is still

  691. God's anointed king.

  692. He's God's chosen man

  693. for this role.

  694. And to attack him

  695. was to attack

  696. God's chosen man

  697. for all his faults,

  698. for all he had done wrong.

  699. God was the judge,

  700. and to take

  701. the judge's position

  702. right now

  703. was to attack God,

  704. and David knows that.

  705. I mean,

  706. how do you know

  707. if a circumstance

  708. that God brings

  709. is of God

  710. or is a test for you?

  711. Well,

  712. it comes down

  713. to actually

  714. how attuned

  715. your heart is

  716. to the heart of God,

  717. and how regularly

  718. you've been allowing

  719. his word

  720. to be shaping

  721. your heart

  722. and your soul

  723. and your life.

  724. Because you remember,

  725. just as in the Garden of Eden,

  726. just as with Abraham

  727. and Sarah

  728. who were barren

  729. with no child,

  730. just as with Saul

  731. is later on,

  732. we always have moments

  733. where you're tempted

  734. to take a shortcut,

  735. to do what is good

  736. in your own eyes.

  737. And what happens

  738. when you come

  739. into those moments

  740. of temptation

  741. where it just looks

  742. so good

  743. is

  744. your inner lawyer

  745. will give you

  746. a thousand justifications

  747. for why you should

  748. do this thing,

  749. even though you know

  750. God's word

  751. says no.

  752. Here's four things

  753. I think David's inner lawyer

  754. would have said to him.

  755. One,

  756. I need this.

  757. You know,

  758. God doesn't want us

  759. to suffer any longer,

  760. right?

  761. Here he is.

  762. We should just kill him.

  763. Years of hiding,

  764. years of stress

  765. and fear in one second

  766. could all be over.

  767. And it's also

  768. for his men too.

  769. It's not just for him.

  770. You know,

  771. they can't teach

  772. much more of this.

  773. We need this.

  774. I need this.

  775. Secondly,

  776. he deserves it

  777. because Saul

  778. is evil

  779. and unjust.

  780. You know,

  781. he's got every right

  782. to feel bitter

  783. about this.

  784. He's innocent.

  785. This is justice

  786. to get back at him.

  787. He deserves

  788. to be taken down.

  789. I need this.

  790. He deserves it.

  791. Thirdly,

  792. I'm entitled

  793. to it.

  794. Now,

  795. this is probably

  796. one of the strongest

  797. because David

  798. has been promised

  799. and anointed

  800. as the future king.

  801. It is

  802. his

  803. by right.

  804. So,

  805. he should just

  806. take it for himself,

  807. right?

  808. He shouldn't have to

  809. put up with any more

  810. of this,

  811. should he?

  812. He's entitled

  813. to it.

  814. He needs it.

  815. He deserves it.

  816. I'm entitled

  817. to it.

  818. Fourth,

  819. I won't get

  820. another chance.

  821. This is the ultimate

  822. FOMO

  823. because this is more

  824. real than any of our

  825. FOMOs that we face

  826. in our life

  827. because the opportunity

  828. cost is huge.

  829. the stakes

  830. are not just your career.

  831. The stakes are life

  832. and death

  833. for all of them.

  834. That's pressure.

  835. That's peer pressure

  836. too from his men.

  837. And you know,

  838. the job or the relationship

  839. that suddenly appears

  840. and looks so good

  841. but you know it's not

  842. healthy spiritually

  843. for you or for your family.

  844. There's a temptation

  845. for us

  846. to shortcut God's promises

  847. and his provision.

  848. Do it in our timing,

  849. in our way,

  850. and especially,

  851. some of you know this,

  852. if you've been waiting

  853. faithfully for a long time,

  854. you can end up

  855. losing hope.

  856. And yet,

  857. here's the thing.

  858. Saul,

  859. under pressure

  860. from his men

  861. in chapter 15,

  862. he caved in

  863. to them.

  864. And David nearly does too.

  865. He listens to them.

  866. He creeps up to Saul.

  867. He sees his robe

  868. on the ground.

  869. He cuts it.

  870. Just as,

  871. remember,

  872. Saul tore Samuel's robe

  873. to show that the kingdom

  874. was torn from him.

  875. So David cuts it

  876. to show Saul,

  877. it's not your kingdom anymore.

  878. And just as he's going in

  879. for the final kill,

  880. it says this,

  881. David's heart struck him.

  882. Listen to that.

  883. David's heart struck him.

  884. This is incredible.

  885. Given the pressure,

  886. given the history,

  887. given the waiting,

  888. the spirit of God

  889. pricks his conscience

  890. with all of that,

  891. all the justifications,

  892. justifications,

  893. it's a godly alarm system

  894. saying you should not

  895. be doing this.

  896. And because in the waiting

  897. he's constantly tuned

  898. his heart to God

  899. in his word,

  900. in prayer,

  901. in confession,

  902. and repentance,

  903. he listens.

  904. And he obeys

  905. in the heat of the moment.

  906. And he trusts God's entire,

  907. his entire life,

  908. God for his entire life,

  909. his entire future,

  910. and that of his men.

  911. And he says,

  912. I'm not going to hold on

  913. to any bitterness.

  914. I'm not going to hold on

  915. to entitlement.

  916. I'm not going to try

  917. and get my own way.

  918. I'm going to leave judgment

  919. in the hands of God.

  920. And he says this,

  921. he says,

  922. the Lord forbid

  923. that I should do a thing,

  924. do this thing,

  925. to my Lord,

  926. the Lord's anointed.

  927. Do you see who's

  928. at the forefront

  929. of his mind?

  930. It's Yahweh his Lord.

  931. And he turns around

  932. to his men.

  933. And I can imagine,

  934. this is what they're saying,

  935. they're going,

  936. what are you doing?

  937. You idiots.

  938. Like,

  939. you're never going to get

  940. another chance.

  941. Are you nuts?

  942. And it was super heated,

  943. and we know that

  944. because it says in Hebrew,

  945. it says David persuaded them.

  946. In Hebrew,

  947. it actually says

  948. David tore into them,

  949. meaning he went,

  950. don't you dare touch them.

  951. Because

  952. they were not happy

  953. about this.

  954. But he's got a conviction

  955. that trusting God

  956. is going to work out

  957. in the long run.

  958. And Saul,

  959. their persecutor,

  960. gets up

  961. and walks freely

  962. out of the cave

  963. to carry on hunting them

  964. for another few years.

  965. Wow.

  966. You see,

  967. faith doesn't always feel good

  968. in the short term.

  969. But faith is more solid

  970. than your feelings.

  971. Because God is more sovereign

  972. than your feelings.

  973. And God is our helper.

  974. I want to turn to

  975. bring up Bernard

  976. to share a little bit

  977. of some of his story

  978. of how he's seen God

  979. just at work in his life

  980. in a very practical scenario

  981. in the waiting.

  982. So,

  983. if we can just

  984. hand it over

  985. to Bernard.

  986. Bernard

  987. Thanks, Chris.

  988. Boy,

  989. it's kind of hard

  990. to follow

  991. on the back

  992. of David's story.

  993. But Chris asked me

  994. to share

  995. something that...

  996. Bernard,

  997. I think you're on mute.

  998. Oh,

  999. I'm speaking,

  1000. but maybe...

  1001. Can you hear me?

1002. Can you hear me now?

  1003. Okay.

  1004. Can you hear me?

  1005. Yeah.

  1006. Okay.

  1007. Yeah.

  1008. It's kind of hard

  1009. to follow

  1010. on the back

  1011. of David

  1012. and Saul's story.

  1013. But Chris asked me

  1014. to share

  1015. something that

  1016. kind of happened

  1017. in my career

  1018. that required

1019. quite a bit of waiting.

  1020. And so,

  1021. basically,

  1022. I've been

  1023. working for my company,

1024. a IT and telecom company,

  1025. for 30 years.

  1026. I know

  1027. for a lot

  1028. of our young people

  1029. in Mortimer,

  1030. that would be

  1031. beyond

  1032. a lifetime sentence.

  1033. How can you work

  1034. for one company

  1035. for 30 years?

  1036. Three years

1037. seems like a long time.

  1038. But,

  1039. basically,

  1040. what happened

  1041. was...

  1042. So,

  1043. I run

  1044. Asia Pacific

  1045. for this company

  1046. and I've been

  1047. doing it

  1048. since 2008.

  1049. So,

  1050. that's probably

  1051. about 13 years.

  1052. But,

  1053. actually,

  1054. it was the journey

  1055. of how I

  1056. got this role

  1057. that Chris

  1058. wanted me to share.

  1059. So,

  1060. back in 2003,

  1061. which is

  1062. quite a while ago,

  1063. nearly 20 years ago,

  1064. I was...

  1065. My boss then,

  1066. who was the head

  1067. of this region,

  1068. left

  1069. and four of us

  1070. was invited

  1071. to interview

  1072. for this job.

  1073. And then,

1074. kind of long story short,

  1075. it came down

  1076. to two of us,

  1077. between myself

  1078. and a colleague

  1079. of mine

  1080. who's a little bit

  1081. older than me,

  1082. probably 10,

1083. 15 years older than me.

  1084. And,

  1085. in my final interview

  1086. with my then boss,

  1087. he asked

  1088. the standard question

  1089. of,

  1090. you know,

  1091. why would you think

  1092. best that you had...

  1093. Why do you think

  1094. you're the best candidate

  1095. for this role?

  1096. And,

  1097. boy,

  1098. when Chris

  1099. talked about

  1100. David

  1101. and his heart

  1102. struck him,

  1103. I had

  1104. kind of a similar

  1105. feeling at that point.

  1106. I felt like

  1107. that God

  1108. was speaking to me

  1109. and striking my heart

  1110. and basically said

  1111. to me

  1112. that,

  1113. you know what,

  1114. it's not your time,

  1115. you should recommend

  1116. your colleague.

  1117. So,

  1118. at that point

  1119. in the final interview

1120. between the two of us,

  1121. I recommended

  1122. to my boss

  1123. that he should

  1124. choose my colleague

  1125. to be,

  1126. to take this role.

  1127. Thinking maybe one day,

  1128. you know,

1129. it will be my turn.

  1130. But I really felt,

  1131. you know,

  1132. he had more experience,

  1133. he had another 10,

  1134. 15 years more experience

  1135. than me

  1136. and so forth.

  1137. So,

  1138. I ended up working

  1139. for my colleague

  1140. for three years

  1141. subsequent to that.

  1142. And,

  1143. in that,

  1144. there was

  1145. a lot of

  1146. different

  1147. circumstances

  1148. where I was able

  1149. to support him.

  1150. He actually

  1151. fell into a bit

  1152. of a depression

1153. in the middle of that

  1154. and I was able

  1155. to kind of support

  1156. him through that.

1157. At the end of that

  1158. three years,

  1159. he left

  1160. the company

  1161. and at that

  1162. point,

  1163. I thought,

  1164. oh,

  1165. you know,

  1166. maybe it's my turn.

  1167. And then the company

  1168. decided to fly

1169. somebody in from the US

  1170. and passed

  1171. over anybody

  1172. in the region

  1173. to take that role.

  1174. So,

  1175. then I worked

  1176. for this new boss

  1177. for another year

  1178. and then they moved

1179. him on to another job

  1180. and I thought,

  1181. wow,

  1182. finally,

  1183. okay,

  1184. it's my turn

  1185. to do this role.

  1186. And then they decide

  1187. to do another

  1188. restructure

  1189. and merge

  1190. the region

  1191. with another region

  1192. and then they put

  1193. another boss

  1194. ahead of me.

  1195. So,

  1196. I was passed

  1197. over twice.

  1198. So,

  1199. this is now

  1200. kind of five years,

  1201. four years on

  1202. and now

  1203. I work for

  1204. my new,

  1205. second new boss

  1206. for another two years.

  1207. So,

1208. now kind of six years

  1209. on from the time

  1210. that I felt God

  1211. saying,

  1212. you know what,

  1213. you should recommend

  1214. your colleague

  1215. and,

  1216. you know,

  1217. something happened,

  1218. an incident happened

  1219. and it actually

  1220. created a really

  1221. difficult situation

  1222. for my then boss

  1223. who had to take

  1224. responsibility

  1225. for that incident

  1226. although he wasn't

  1227. involved

  1228. and he left.

  1229. So,

  1230. now it moved

  1231. from,

  1232. it's now

  1233. the end of 2008

  1234. and at which

  1235. point

  1236. the company

  1237. then said,

  1238. okay,

  1239. we've kind of run

  1240. out of candidates

  1241. now.

  1242. All those people

  1243. we've put on top

  1244. of Bird

  1245. we've kind of run

  1246. out.

  1247. Maybe it's time

  1248. we asked Bird

  1249. to kind of

  1250. take the role.

  1251. So,

  1252. you know,

  1253. that was kind

  1254. of a long story

  1255. short.

  1256. It was about

  1257. six years

  1258. between the time

  1259. of my interview

  1260. and I was

  1261. appointed

  1262. for the role

  1263. and I know

  1264. it seems,

  1265. six years

  1266. seems a long time

  1267. probably especially

  1268. for those that are

  1269. young in their career

  1270. it seems probably

  1271. a lifetime

  1272. but,

  1273. you know,

  1274. what I didn't know

1275. and it didn't to me

  1276. and it reminded me

  1277. of a verse

  1278. in Genesis

  1279. 29

  1280. when

  1281. Jacob

  1282. was

  1283. waiting for Rachel

  1284. and Laban

  1285. kind of

  1286. did a

  1287. bait and switch

  1288. with Leah

  1289. and

  1290. but

  1291. in 20

  1292. in verse

  1293. 20

  1294. it said

  1295. but they

  1296. seemed to him

  1297. but a few days

  1298. because he loved her

  1299. and

  1300. so actually

  1301. those six years

  1302. really didn't feel

  1303. like that long

  1304. to me.

  1305. I really felt like

  1306. and by the way

  1307. the time of waiting

  1308. is not a time

1309. well I'm going to sit

  1310. on my hands

  1311. and feel sorry

  1312. for myself.

  1313. It was really

  1314. just a time

  1315. of

  1316. leaning

  1317. and trusting

  1318. in God

  1319. and really

  1320. he taught me

  1321. a lot

  1322. and one thing

  1323. at the end

  1324. of that

  1325. when I was

  1326. appointed to that role

1327. and I've been in it

  1328. for 13 years now

  1329. was that

  1330. prior to me

  1331. the average tenure

  1332. of somebody

  1333. who survived

  1334. in this role

  1335. was two years

  1336. so

  1337. it wasn't

  1338. a

  1339. longevity role

  1340. and now

  1341. I've been in it

  1342. for 13

  1343. I don't know

  1344. if God wants me

  1345. to be in it

  1346. for any further

  1347. but I certainly

  1348. feel like

  1349. that

  1350. it was a time

  1351. of waiting

  1352. that God's timing

  1353. was surely

  1354. a lot better

  1355. than

  1356. my own timing.

  1357. So Chris

  1358. sorry

  1359. it was longer

  1360. than it

  1361. needed to be.

  1362. No that's great

  1363. thank you

  1364. Bernard

  1365. and I think

  1366. one of the things

  1367. that

  1368. just even

  1369. I'm sure Bernard

  1370. may not say this

  1371. but I think

  1372. just

  1373. you see how

  1374. just even

  1375. walking in

  1376. just the

  1377. ordinary faithfulness

  1378. of just trusting

  1379. God over

  1380. time

  1381. over time

  1382. and I know

  1383. even Bernard

  1384. you said to me

1385. that one of the things

  1386. God had worked

  1387. in your heart

  1388. was actually

  1389. a desire

  1390. that you wanted

  1391. to see

  1392. the other people

  1393. succeed

  1394. as well

  1395. and I think

  1396. that comes out

  1397. of actually

  1398. a security

  1399. and a trust

  1400. that actually

  1401. you know

  1402. that actually

  1403. God has got you

  1404. and so thank you

  1405. so much for sharing

  1406. that I think

  1407. that's just

  1408. really encouraging

  1409. for us.

  1410. So I want us

  1411. to just finish

  1412. with one more point

  1413. we've looked at waiting

  1414. we've looked at trusting

  1415. in a God

  1416. who is faithful

  1417. and the last thing

1418. is I want to do

  1419. is talk about seeing

  1420. because it's not

  1421. that actually

  1422. God always works

  1423. everything out

  1424. in our own way

  1425. and actually

  1426. this call

  1427. to wade

  1428. and to trust

  1429. is not a call

  1430. as Bernard said

  1431. to just accept

  1432. every bad stuff

  1433. that comes your way

1434. and just live with it

  1435. it's a call

  1436. to a big vision

  1437. of God

  1438. which gives you

  1439. courage in uncertainty

  1440. so you don't grasp

  1441. so you don't live

  1442. and seek your own

  1443. entitlement

  1444. but actually

  1445. David gets up

  1446. out of the cave

  1447. and he goes

  1448. to confront Saul

  1449. he's not passive

  1450. in this at all

  1451. but his heart

1452. is in the right place

  1453. before he goes

  1454. to confront

  1455. and actually

  1456. by the way

  1457. if you have

  1458. relational tension

  1459. never go and

  1460. confront someone

  1461. until you've actually

  1462. done heart surgery

  1463. on yourself first

  1464. because you'll only

  1465. make things worse

  1466. but David

  1467. at this point

  1468. he's seeking

  1469. to win

  1470. Saul's heart

  1471. to open his eyes

  1472. to see reality

  1473. and he shouts

  1474. to Saul

  1475. he goes

  1476. hey my lord

  1477. the king

  1478. and he bows down

1479. and then he shows him

  1480. the cut robe

  1481. and he goes

  1482. see my father

  1483. see the corner

  1484. of your robe

  1485. in my hand

  1486. in fact the word

  1487. see is repeated

  1488. at least four times

  1489. in two verses

  1490. he says

  1491. do you see

  1492. do you see reality

  1493. do you see

  1494. every lie

  1495. that you have been

  1496. believing

  1497. is false

  1498. here is the evidence

  1499. in front of you

  1500. I could have

  1501. had revenge

  1502. I could have

  1503. held on to business

  1504. but I haven't

  1505. because I'm not

  1506. I'm not trusting

1507. and getting my own way

  1508. in this

  1509. I'm leaving judgment

  1510. in God's hand

  1511. because I know

  1512. his hands are bigger

  1513. than mine

  1514. and he says

  1515. may the lord

  1516. judge between me

  1517. and you

  1518. but my hand

  1519. shall not be

  1520. against you

  1521. I'm not going to

  1522. take revenge

  1523. I'm not going to

  1524. attack

  1525. I'm not going to

  1526. withdraw

  1527. I'm not going to

  1528. do anything

  1529. except I'm bringing

  1530. the goodness

  1531. of God

  1532. to you

  1533. and Saul's eyes

  1534. which have been

  1535. blinded by this

  1536. ever deepening

  1537. spiral of grasping

  1538. and jealousy

  1539. trying to hold on

  1540. to his ambitions

  1541. and control

  1542. for one split second

  1543. are opened

  1544. and he sees

  1545. the reality

  1546. and he says this

  1547. you are more

  1548. righteous than I

  1549. for you have

  1550. repaid me

  1551. good

  1552. and the word good

  1553. is actually

  1554. repeated multiple times

  1555. good

  1556. whereas I have

  1557. repaid you

  1558. evil

  1559. you see

  1560. David's trust

  1561. in God

  1562. as the judge

  1563. when he could have

  1564. grown bitter

  1565. but he doesn't

  1566. he leaves

  1567. all of that

  1568. in God's hands

  1569. it leads him

  1570. to bring blessing

  1571. and good

  1572. to even the wicked

  1573. and unjust

  1574. people like Saul

  1575. whereas Saul's

  1576. trust in himself

  1577. leads him

  1578. to doing evil

  1579. to innocent people

  1580. and you know

  1581. we are the same

  1582. because in the

  1583. uncertainty of our

  1584. waiting

  1585. in the pain

  1586. of hurt

  1587. and betrayal

  1588. we can be tempted

  1589. to listen to lies

  1590. we can be tempted

1591. to cling on to bitterness

  1592. we can be tempted

1593. to look at the short term

  1594. to zoom in

  1595. on the macro lens

  1596. of just the moment

  1597. and try and get

  1598. everything for now

1599. and miss the wide angle lens

  1600. of God's character

  1601. and his promises

  1602. because you see

1603. before each one of us

  1604. today

  1605. you will have tests

  1606. on whether you're going

  1607. to trust God

  1608. in your waiting

  1609. or do what's good

  1610. in your own eyes

1611. and God puts in front

  1612. of your face

  1613. this morning

  1614. as he wants to

  1615. every day

  1616. not a cut robe

1617. but he wants to put

  1618. pierced hands

  1619. and feet

  1620. of Christ

  1621. before you

1622. in front of your face

  1623. and says

  1624. see

1625. you have in many ways

  1626. treated me

  1627. like Saul

  1628. in your entitlement

  1629. in your impatience

  1630. in your pride

1631. in so many different ways

  1632. and yet

  1633. Jesus was

  1634. persecuted

  1635. a fugitive

  1636. betrayed

  1637. rejected

  1638. treated

  1639. far worse

  1640. than Jesus

  1641. than David

  1642. ever was

  1643. on our account

1644. but I am so patient

  1645. with you

  1646. I am patient

  1647. wanting people

  1648. to repent

  1649. and come back

  1650. to me

  1651. do you know

  1652. Jesus could have

  1653. wiped out

1654. every one of his enemies

  1655. like that

  1656. instead

  1657. he chose not

  1658. to take it into

  1659. his

  1660. grasp it

  1661. into his own hands

  1662. like Philippians 2 says

  1663. but he chooses

  1664. to take the nature

  1665. of a servant

  1666. he pays

  1667. the ultimate

  1668. cost

  1669. ultimate opportunity

  1670. cost

  1671. of death

  1672. on a cross

  1673. you see

  1674. David's life

  1675. was actually

  1676. protected by God

  1677. but Jesus

  1678. life was not

  1679. and I can imagine

  1680. in heaven

  1681. the angels

  1682. would go

  1683. are you crazy

  1684. God

  1685. do you not

  1686. know what

  1687. Chris is like

  1688. do you not

  1689. know what

  1690. you're entitled

  1691. to

  1692. do you not

  1693. know all the

  1694. things that

  1695. he has done

  1696. to you

  1697. and he would

  1698. say yeah

  1699. but my love

  1700. and my grace

  1701. come to

  1702. undeserving

  1703. entitled

  1704. and impatient

  1705. people

  1706. and I want

  1707. to give you

  1708. what you

  1709. don't deserve

  1710. the grace

  1711. of my

  1712. love

  1713. and a

  1714. relationship

  1715. with me

  1716. and he

  1717. is the one

  1718. who is crowned

  1719. the ultimate

  1720. king

  1721. the resurrected

  1722. king of glory

  1723. and if you

  1724. want to have

  1725. a big view

  1726. of God

  1727. right now

  1728. you've got

  1729. to place

  1730. his story

  1731. and overlay

  1732. it onto

  1733. your story

  1734. because sooner

  1735. or later

  1736. this week

  1737. you're going

  1738. to have

  1739. cave moments

  1740. in your life

  1741. maybe

  1742. and if you

  1743. haven't been

  1744. getting in

  1745. God's word

  1746. regularly

  1747. if you

  1748. haven't been

  1749. rehearsing

  1750. his love

  1751. and his

  1752. faithful to

  1753. you

  1754. thanking him

  1755. and allowing

  1756. his promises

  1757. to work in

  1758. your life

  1759. you'll believe

  1760. what everyone

  1761. else says

  1762. around you

  1763. and it will

  1764. be a lie

  1765. and you'll

  1766. be blind

  1767. to the reality

  1768. of the big

  1769. picture of

  1770. what God

  1771. is doing

  1772. and you'll

  1773. do what is

  1774. good in your

  1775. own eyes

  1776. and it will

  1777. cause harm

  1778. to others

  1779. but if you

  1780. tune your

  1781. heart

  1782. to the

  1783. ever faithful

  1784. suffering

  1785. love of

  1786. Jesus

  1787. towards you

  1788. then his

  1789. story will

  1790. reshape

  1791. your story

  1792. because what

  1793. you see is

  1794. he brings

  1795. life out

  1796. of death

  1797. when you

  1798. trust him

  1799. with your

  1800. life

  1801. there may

  1802. be moments

  1803. where things

  1804. will feel

  1805. like you're

  1806. dying

  1807. but he

  1808. always brings

  1809. resurrection

  1810. out of the

  1811. cave

  1812. you see

  1813. right now

  1814. I want to

  1815. ask you

  1816. where are

  1817. the moments

  1818. where you're

  1819. waiting

  1820. where are

  1821. the moments

  1822. where you

  1823. are in

  1824. pain

  1825. or frustrated

  1826. you see

  1827. God is

  1828. wanting to

  1829. work a

  1830. resurrection

  1831. story in

  1832. your life

  1833. but you've

  1834. got to get

  1835. off your

  1836. throne

  1837. like

  1838. Jonathan

  1839. you've

  1840. got to

  1841. trust him

  1842. with the

  1843. timing

  1844. like

  1845. David

  1846. and if

  1847. you take

  1848. the promises

  1849. of God

  1850. my God

  1851. is my

  1852. helper

  1853. the Lord

  1854. is the

  1855. upholder

  1856. and sustainer

  1857. of my life

  1858. and you've

  1859. got to wield

  1860. those every

  1861. day to help

  1862. you fix

  1863. your eyes

  1864. on Christ

  1865. and every

  1866. day we're

  1867. doing that

  1868. helping each

  1869. other with

  1870. that you

  1871. will look

  1872. back I

  1873. can guarantee

  1874. in years

  1875. to come

  1876. and say

  1877. Jesus

  1878. you are

  1879. more righteous

  1880. than I

  1881. I have

  1882. repaid you

  1883. with plenty

  1884. of sin

  1885. I've been

  1886. impatient

  1887. a whole lot

  1888. of other

  1889. things but

  1890. in Christ

  1891. you have

  1892. repaid me

  1893. with such

  1894. abundant

  1895. good

  1896. because

  1897. Jesus

  1898. you are

  1899. so good

  1900. to me

  1901. and the

  1902. question

  1903. is today

  1904. as he

  1905. puts that

  1906. in front

  1907. of you

  1908. will you

  1909. trust him

  1910. with the

  1911. weight

  1912. will you

  1913. trust him

  1914. with your

  1915. hurt

  1916. will you

  1917. trust him

  1918. and run

  1919. to him

  1920. and let

  1921. him

  1922. be the

  1923. God

  1924. of your

  1925. life

  1926. I want

  1927. to pray

  1928. for a

  1929. second

  1930. and then

  1931. we're

  1932. going to

  1933. move

  1934. into

  1935. breakout

  1936. rooms

  1937. but I

  1938. want you

  1939. to take

  1940. a second

  1941. to think

  1942. about

  1943. this

  1944. story

  1945. I want

  1946. you to

  1947. think

  1948. where

  1949. in this

  1950. story

  1951. resonates

  1952. with your

  1953. story

  1954. where

  1955. are the

  1956. areas

  1957. where

  1958. God

  1959. is

  1960. calling

  1961. you

  1962. to

  1963. trust

  1964. in

  1965. him

  1966. today

  1967. to

  1968. have

  1969. a

  1970. bigger

  1971. vision

  1972. of

  1973. him

  1974. and

  1975. his

  1976. goodness

  1977. and

  1978. his

  1979. love

  1980. what

  1981. resonates

  1982. in

  1983. your

  1984. life

  1985. where

  1986. is he

  1987. calling

  1988. you

  1989. to

  1990. trust

  1991. him

  1992. so

  1993. father

  1994. I

  1995. just

  1996. want

  1997. to

  1998. thank

  1999. you

  2000. that

  2001. you

  2002. are

  2003. the

  2004. ultimate

  2005. faithful

  2006. God

  2007. thank

  2008. you

  2009. that

  2010. even

  2011. though

  2012. we

  2013. look

  2014. so

  2015. much

  2016. in

  2017. the

  2018. macro

  2019. the

  2020. little

  2021. tiny

  2022. moments

  2023. of

  2024. life

  2025. you

  2026. see

  2027. the

  2028. big

  2029. picture

  2030. and

  2031. thank

  2032. you

  2033. that

  2034. your

  2035. faithfulness

  2036. has

  2037. been

  2038. proved

  2039. to

  2040. us

  2041. ultimately

  2042. on

  2043. the

  2044. cross

  2045. but

  2046. actually

  2047. again

  2048. and

  2049. again

  2050. every

  2051. single

  2052. day

  2053. you

  2054. prove

  2055. it

  2056. to

  2057. us

  2058. Lord

  2059. forgive

  2060. us

  2061. for

  2062. where

  2063. we

  2064. fail

  2065. to

  2066. see

  2067. that

  2068. you

  2069. are

  2070. faithful

  2071. I

  2072. pray

  2073. Lord

  2074. even

  2075. as

  2076. we

  2077. go

  2078. into

  2079. our

  2080. breakout

  2081. rooms

  2082. and

  2083. chat

  2084. together

  2085. I

  2086. pray

  2087. that

  2088. you

  2089. would

  2090. speak

  2091. to

  2092. us

  2093. you

  2094. would

  2095. encourage

  2096. us

  2097. that

  2098. you

  2099. would

  2100. help

  2101. remind

  2102. us

  2103. that

  2104. you

  2105. have

  2106. got

  2107. today

  2108. that

  2109. you

  2110. are

  2111. our

  2112. helper

  2113. and

  2114. help

  2115. us

  2116. to

  2117. look

  2118. up

  2119. and

  2120. see

  2121. you

  2122. and

  2123. trust

  2124. you

  2125. in
