  1. The scripture for today comes from Matthew chapter 25.

    Matthew 25 chapter mention

  2. Starting in verse 1, we read,

  3. Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

  4. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

  5. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them.

  6. But the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

  7. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

  8. But at midnight there was a cry.

  9. Here is the bridegroom, come out to meet him.

  10. Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.

  11. And the foolish said to the wise,

  12. Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

  13. But the wise answered, saying,

  14. Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.

  15. And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came.

  16. And those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

  17. Afterward, the other virgins came also, saying,

  18. Lord, Lord, open to us.

  19. But he answered,

  20. Truly I say to you, I do not know you.

  21. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

  22. For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.

  23. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability.

  24. Then he went away.

  25. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them.

  26. And he made five talents more.

  27. So also, he who had two talents made two talents more.

  28. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money.

  29. Now after a long time, the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

  30. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying,

  31. Master, you delivered to me five talents.

  32. Here, I have five talents more.

  33. His master said to him,

  34. Well done, good and faithful servant.

  35. You have been faithful over a little.

  36. I will set you over much.

  37. Enter into the joy of your master.

  38. And he who had two talents came forward, saying,

  39. Master, you delivered me two talents.

  40. Here, I have two talents more.

  41. His master said to him,

  42. Well done, good and faithful servant.

  43. You have been faithful over a little.

  44. I will set you over much.

  45. Enter into the joy of your master.

  46. He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying,

  47. Master, I know you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gather where you scattered no seed.

  48. So I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground.

  49. Here, you have what is yours.

  50. But his master answered him,

  51. You wicked and slothful servant.

  52. You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scatter no seed.

  53. Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers.

  54. And at my coming, I should have received what was my own with interest.

  55. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.

  56. For to everyone who has will more be given.

  57. And he will have an abundance.

  58. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

  59. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness.

  60. In that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  61. When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him,

  62. then he will sit on his glorious throne.

  63. Before him will be gathered all the nations.

  64. And he will separate people from one another,

  65. as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

  66. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.

  67. Then the kingdom will say to those on his right,

  68. Come, you are blessed by my Father.

  69. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

  70. For I was hungry, and you gave me food.

  71. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink.

  72. I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.

  73. I was naked, and you clothed me.

  74. I was sick, and you visited me.

  75. I was in prison, and you came to me.

  76. Then the righteous will answer him, saying,

  77. Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,

  78. or thirsty and gave you drink?

  79. And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you,

  80. or naked and clothe you?

  81. And when did we see you sick, or in prison and visit you?

  82. And the king will answer them,

  83. Truly I say to you,

  84. As you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers,

  85. You did it to me.

  86. Then he will say to those on his left,

  87. Depart from me, you cursed into the eternal fire,

  88. Prepared for the devil and his angels.

  89. Where I was hungry, and you gave me no food.

  90. I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink.

  91. I was a stranger, and you did not welcome me.

  92. Naked, and you did not cloth me.

  93. Sick and in prison, and you did not visit me.

  94. Then they also will answer, saying,

  95. Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty,

  96. or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison,

  97. and did not minister to you?

  98. Then he will answer them, saying,

  99. Truly I say to you,

  100. As you did not do it to one of the least of these,

  101. you did not do it to me.

  102. And these will go away into internal punishment,

  103. but the righteous into eternal life.

  104. This is the word of God.

  105. Great. Thanks so much, Annabelle, Risa.

  106. That was great reading.

  107. Good to have the alternation.

  108. And yeah, we are racing through the book of Matthew,

    Matthew 25 chapter mention

  109. chapter 25.

  110. And today,

  111. why don't we pray together,

  112. as we listen to God's word.

  113. Father, thank you for these words.

  114. Thank you that we have the words of Jesus.

  115. We pray that we would listen

  116. to our King, our Savior, our Master.

  117. Please speak to each one of us.

  118. Would we hear what you want us to hear?

  119. Whatever that may be.

  120. Thank you that you are the living and speaking God.

  121. So encourage us today,

  122. in Jesus' name.

  123. Amen.

  124. Amen.

  125. Well, it's great not to have masks.

  126. Although, looking back,

  127. if there was one restriction

  128. that you have to keep,

  129. which one would it be?

  130. I don't know.

  131. And actually,

  132. the one that I'm most grateful for

  133. is quarantine gone, right?

  134. Life is so different now.

  135. I don't know how many of you

  136. have been flying.

  137. So many people,

  138. they're now on business trips

  139. and on holiday.

  140. And so, of course,

  141. you're flying

  142. and you get the safety features, right?

  143. The sewer that's showing

  144. where's the exits

  145. and here's the live vest.

  146. How many of you listen to that?

  147. I think no one, right?

  148. Well, the reason is very simple.

  149. We don't think it will happen, right?

  150. And there's no way we're going to crash.

  151. So why would I listen?

  152. What if you really knew

  153. the plane would crash?

  154. I think you would listen, right?

  155. Everyone would get a mobile phone

  156. and video it

  157. and kind of save it for later.

  158. Now, if you really know

  159. something's going to happen,

  160. you would be ready.

  161. We just don't think it will be.

  162. And I think that's why

  163. we want to listen

  164. to what Jesus has been saying, right?

  165. Something big is going to happen.

  166. We heard that last week.

  167. If you were here,

  168. Jesus is going to return.

  169. It's going to be

  170. the end of the world,

  171. the end of history.

  172. Big change, right?

  173. The new creation,

  174. the final judgment,

  175. as we heard.

  176. And Jesus says,

  177. we need to be ready.

  178. And if you were there last week,

  179. yeah,

  180. that was challenging.

  181. We want to be ready.

  182. We want to hear,

  183. right?

  184. The disciples,

  185. they were interested.

  186. Okay, hey, Jesus,

  187. when are you going to come back?

  188. And what will be the sign?

  189. And Jesus starts saying,

  190. okay,

  191. you need to be ready.

  192. And today is basically

  193. part two of that speech.

  194. And so I hope we want to listen,

  195. especially because I think it's,

  196. I've been challenged

  197. that it's not quite what I expected.

  198. But right,

  199. Jesus wants us to be ready

  200. for his return.

  201. I mean,

  202. if you read the whole New Testament,

  203. I think one out of every 10 verses

  204. is about Jesus' return.

  205. It's just a big topic.

  206. Let's listen to what Jesus has to say.

  207. And we have these three parables.

  208. Obviously,

  209. the last one isn't a parable.

  210. Three stories.

  211. And they help us,

  212. well,

  213. how to be ready.

  214. So first,

  215. yeah,

  216. the virgins.

  217. Now,

  218. what is the story here,

  219. right,

  220. with the virgins?

  221. Well,

  222. then the kingdom,

  223. verse one,

  224. of heaven will be like 10 virgins

  225. who took their lamps

  226. and went to meet the bridegroom.

  227. I don't know.

  228. It's,

  229. I guess these virgins

  230. are like bridesmaids.

  231. What happened back then?

  232. Yeah,

  233. that was the big feast,

  234. but the bridegroom,

  235. I think he would go

  236. and get his bride

  237. and then come back

  238. and there would be

  239. this big procession

  240. into the feast

  241. and these bridesmaids

  242. would have lamps

  243. to kind of light the way.

  244. And so they,

  245. they,

  246. they,

  247. they were kind of waiting

  248. for the bridegroom to come

  249. so that they could kind of,

  250. you know,

  251. then have their lamps

  252. and go in with him

  253. to the feast

  254. and be part of the procession.

  255. I like bridesmaids.

  256. That's what you should think.

  257. The only thing is,

  258. well,

  259. of course,

  260. they were wise and foolish

  261. and some of them brought

  262. this extra oil.

  263. But they,

  264. they trimmed their lamps,

  265. right,

  266. they were waiting

  267. but the,

  268. verse five,

  269. as the bridegroom

  270. was delayed,

  271. they all became drowsy

  272. and slept,

  273. right?

  274. They put their lamps

  275. on the lowest setting,

  276. just waiting outside

  277. for the bridegroom.

  278. And then suddenly,

  279. well,

  280. here at midnight

  281. is the bridegroom,

  282. right?

  283. Here is the big moment.

  284. And so they,

  285. they all get up

  286. and they,

  287. they put their lamps

  288. to the highest setting,

  289. right?

  290. Now,

  291. here's the procession.

  292. We're going to go in.

  293. And the only thing is,

  294. well,

  295. you need extra oil then,

  296. all right?

  297. Because the lamps

  298. have been burning all night.

  299. And so the wise ones,

  300. they have oil.

  301. But the foolish ones,

  302. we don't have oil.

  303. And,

  304. well,

  305. what do we do?

  306. Well,

  307. go and buy some.

  308. So five of the bridesmaids,

  309. they go off to buy oil.

  310. And while they're away,

  311. the bridegroom comes.

  312. The wise ones go in with him

  313. and the door is shut.

  314. That's kind of the story here,

  315. right?

  316. I guess we can follow it.

  317. Here's the bridesmaids.

  318. And some of them,

  319. well,

  320. we think it's about being ready,

  321. right?

  322. Although he actually,

  323. when you read the story,

  324. it was very surprising,

  325. right?

  326. I mean,

  327. you expect this,

  328. this comes after what Jesus

  329. has been saying about his return.

  330. And of course,

  331. he is the bridegroom,

  332. right?

  333. He is the bridegroom

  334. who comes back after a long delay

  335. and we want to be ready,

  336. right?

  337. But,

  338. you know,

  339. he talked last week,

  340. hey,

  341. I'm coming like a thief in the night.

  342. I'm going to come suddenly.

  343. So you'd expect be awake.

  344. And isn't that what this parable is about?

  345. Well,

  346. here are the 10 virgins

  347. and,

  348. you know,

  349. five of them stayed awake

  350. and five of them were asleep.

  351. Well,

  352. that's not the story.

  353. How many of them were awake?

  354. None of them.

  355. They all fell asleep.

  356. What made the difference?

  357. How do you say it?

  358. Right?

  359. They had oil.

  360. You had added oil.

  361. That's the thing,

  362. right?

  363. Five of them were prepared

  364. and five of them were not prepared.

  365. It's not about how,

  366. were they ready?

  367. It's not about what were they doing

  368. when the bridegroom came.

  369. It is,

  370. were they prepared?

  371. And when do you prepare?

  372. Well,

  373. you do that beforehand.

  374. You do that now,

  375. right?

  376. The difference between the wise

  377. and the foolish,

  378. actually,

  379. there was a long time

  380. before the bridegroom came

  381. that they were ready.

  382. And actually,

  383. that is really surprising to me,

  384. right?

  385. It's not what you expect.

  386. We always talk about,

  387. okay,

  388. Jesus is going to come back.

  389. You need to be ready then.

  390. This story actually says,

  391. well,

  392. you need to be ready now.

  393. You need to be prepared now.

  394. And actually,

  395. it's exactly the same

  396. with the other two stories,

  397. isn't it?

  398. Because here's the master

  399. and he,

  400. and the servants,

  401. and then he calls them to account.

  402. Does it talk about

  403. what the,

  404. what the servants were doing

  405. when the master came?

  406. No.

  407. I mean,

  408. that was last week.

  409. There was a parable about that,

  410. yeah.

  411. But here,

  412. it is about

  413. what have they been doing

  414. while he was away?

  415. And likewise,

  416. yeah,

  417. the final judgment,

  418. it's not what people were doing

  419. when the son of man came.

  420. It's what were they doing

  421. while he was away?

  422. And so that is,

  423. I think,

  424. the biggest surprise here,

  425. right?

  426. It is prepare for Jesus' return.

  427. Being ready is about now.

  428. And I think that,

  429. yeah,

  430. it's,

  431. yes,

  432. there is an element

  433. what we looked at last week,

  434. right?

  435. Make sure you're not

  436. kind of away from Jesus.

  437. You're not,

  438. you know,

  439. completely away from Jesus

  440. when he comes

  441. because that'll be a shock.

  442. But actually,

  443. getting ready

  444. is part,

  445. it's a lot of it

  446. is about now.

  447. What do we do now?

  448. How we live now,

  449. at work,

  450. at church,

  451. in our family,

  452. now?

  453. That is how Jesus says

  454. we're going to be ready.

  455. It's about what we're doing

  456. while he is away.

  457. And I think that's really,

  458. in a way,

  459. encouraging,

  460. right?

  461. I don't know,

  462. some places in Asia,

  463. especially like Korea,

  464. they have this,

  465. at the end of high school,

  466. there's this really big exam,

  467. right?

  468. Everything hangs on this one exam

  469. at the end of high school.

  470. Which university do you go to?

  471. Which career can you have?

  472. It's all about this one exam.

  473. And your whole time in school,

  474. it doesn't matter,

  475. right?

  476. It doesn't really matter

  477. what tests you did

  478. or exams,

  479. it doesn't matter.

  480. It's just about this one final exam.

  481. And in a way that,

  482. you know,

  483. your life is not very important,

  484. it's just about this one exam.

  485. What if,

  486. the day before the exam,

  487. your boyfriend breaks up with you

  488. and you're completely distraught

  489. and, you know,

  490. this one exam goes wrong.

  491. So much pressure on this one thing.

  492. Well,

  493. it's wonderful to hear

  494. it's not like that with Jesus.

  495. It's not about,

  496. okay,

  497. there's this one unknown day

  498. in the future

  499. and that's when you need to be ready.

  500. That is the only thing that matters.

  501. And that puts so much pressure

  502. and that's why Christians want to know,

  503. when is it going to happen?

  504. Because so much pressure on this one day.

  505. Actually,

  506. Jesus says,

  507. no,

  508. it's about preparing.

  509. It's about being ready now.

  510. And it's encouraging,

  511. right?

  512. Your life now matters.

  513. Your family now matters.

  514. Your work now matters.

  515. Church now matters.

  516. Right?

  517. That is what Jesus wants.

  518. Actually,

  519. we want to prepare for Jesus' return.

  520. We want to be ready.

  521. Well,

  522. we do that now.

  523. And that's where we're going to go.

  524. Of course,

  525. then,

  526. okay,

  527. what does it look like to prepare?

  528. What does it look like to be ready?

  529. We'll look at the foolish virgins later.

  530. Well,

  531. second story,

  532. well,

  533. it's about this story about the talents.

  534. In a way,

  535. the story is quite straightforward,

  536. right?

  537. There's a master.

  538. Verse 14,

  539. it will be like a man going on a journey

  540. who called his servants

  541. and entrusted to them his property.

  542. To one,

  543. he gave five talents,

  544. to another two,

  545. to another one,

  546. to each according to his ability.

  547. And then he went away.

  548. And he,

  549. this man goes away on a long journey

  550. and he gives his property,

  551. his money to his servants.

  552. And they are supposed to go and invest it.

  553. And that's what they do,

  554. right?

  555. Two of them,

  556. they go and put their money to work.

  557. They trade,

  558. they make five more,

  559. they make two more,

  560. but one hides in the ground.

  561. And then again,

  562. after a long time,

  563. he came back

  564. and then he calls his servants to account.

  565. What have you been doing

  566. while I was away?

  567. And the point is pretty simple,

  568. right?

  569. In a way,

  570. use your talents.

  571. That's what it says.

  572. The only thing is,

  573. you know,

  574. yeah,

  575. use your talents.

  576. Don't bury them.

  577. But what are these talents,

  578. right?

  579. Now,

  580. I guess most of us,

  581. we hear talents

  582. and you think like,

  583. Britain's got talents,

  584. right?

  585. And you,

  586. you,

  587. we use in English the word talent

  588. for kind of artistic skills,

  589. right?

  590. Like piano

  591. and violin

  592. and ballet.

  593. That is,

  594. you know,

  595. and you hear this parable

  596. and,

  597. you know,

  598. if you can play the piano,

  599. you need to use it.

  600. You know,

  601. go for the grade eight exam

  602. and,

  603. and those kind of things,

  604. right?

  605. This is the,

  606. the Tiger Mom parable,

  607. right?

  608. Make it,

  609. use your talents.

  610. But of course,

  611. that's modern English.

  612. This was Greek

  613. 2000 years ago.

  614. What does the word talent mean?

  615. It doesn't mean skill.

  616. A talent is a unit of weight.

  617. It's about 30 kilos

  618. and usually 30 kilos

  619. of,

  620. of silver.

  621. So it's basically

  622. a money unit.

  623. So he's just giving money.

  624. That's the story,

  625. right?

  626. It is the servant,

  627. the master gives

  628. his money to the servants,

  629. go and invest it,

  630. go trade with it.

  631. It's money.

  632. All right?

  633. So what is it?

  634. Well,

  635. we don't really know.

  636. He doesn't say.

  637. I mean,

  638. he says,

  639. uh,

  640. when we all know,

  641. we just know it's different,

  642. right?

  643. One has five,

  644. one has two,

  645. one has one.

  646. So in Luke,

  647. there is the story

  648. of the 10 minas.

  649. That's where each servant

  650. gets exactly the same.

  651. I think that that's the gospel,

  652. right?

  653. We all have the same gospel

  654. and we're supposed to use it.

  655. This is,

  656. I think,

  657. something that's different

  658. between us.

  659. So,

  660. you know,

  661. it doesn't say what it is.

  662. I think it's just,

  663. you know,

  664. use what you have,

  665. you know,

  666. use what you have.

  667. Maybe you,

  668. uh,

  669. use your money for Jesus.

  670. Use your time for Jesus.

  671. Use your gifts.

  672. Yeah,

  673. of course,

  674. if you can use your piano

  675. for Jesus,

  676. do it.

  677. Great music team.

  678. But,

  679. you know,

  680. uh,

  681. use your opportunities

  682. for Jesus,

  683. right?

  684. Use what you have

  685. for Jesus.

  686. I think that's

  687. what it says,

  688. right?

  689. The master wants

  690. the servants

  691. to use his property

  692. for him.

  693. use,

  694. yeah,

  695. use it.

  696. Use what you have.

  697. And then what do we learn

  698. from this parable?

  699. I mean,

  700. one thing that I hope

  701. strikes you

  702. is that the master

  703. is really generous.

  704. I mean,

  705. 30 kilos of silver,

  706. that's a lot,

  707. right?

  708. your ESV footnote

  709. tells you

  710. is a monetary unit

  711. worth about 20 years

  712. wages for a laborer.

  713. Okay?

  714. So,

  715. one of those things

  716. is worth

  717. two and a half million

  718. Hong Kong dollars.

  719. So,

  720. this master,

  721. he gives

  722. 12 million

  723. to this guy

  724. and five million

  725. to this guy

  726. and two and a half

  727. million to this guy.

  728. Go and invest it.

  729. If you work in finance,

  730. I don't know how much

  731. you get to invest

  732. from people,

  733. but it's a lot of money,

  734. right?

  735. But then when

  736. he comes back

  737. and,

  738. you know,

  739. here's the servant

  740. and,

  741. hey,

  742. your five talents

  743. have made five more.

  744. What does he say?

  745. Well,

  746. such a great response,

  747. right?

  748. Well done.

  749. Good and faithful servant,

  750. verse 21.

  751. You have been faithful

  752. over a little,

  753. just 12 million,

  754. a little.

  755. I will set you over much.

  756. Enter into the joy

  757. of your master,

  758. right?

  759. I'm going to give you

  760. a much greater responsibility

  761. and enter into the joy

  762. of your master.

  763. Come celebrate with me.

  764. Come to my party

  765. and be with me,

  766. right?

  767. A great reward.

  768. He's so generous

  769. and he's so fair,

  770. right?

  771. Because here's one guy

  772. and he's made five talents.

  773. Well,

  774. there's the other guy

  775. with the two talents

  776. and he's made two more.

  777. And what does he get?

  778. Well,

  779. that's okay.

  780. No,

  781. no,

  782. no,

  783. right?

  784. Verse 23.

  785. His master said to him,

  786. well done,

  787. good and faithful servant.

  788. You have been faithful

  789. over a little.

  790. I will set you over much.

  791. Enter into the joy

  792. of your master.

  793. Exactly the same response,

  794. word for word,

  795. right?

  796. It's so fair.

  797. It doesn't matter.

  798. One had five talents,

  799. the other had two talents.

  800. Exactly the same response.

  801. It's so nice,

  802. right?

  803. I mean,

  804. use what you have.

  805. Some people just have

  806. more than others,

  807. right?

  808. There are some people

  809. who are amazingly gifted

  810. and others are not

  811. and you just think,

  812. well,

  813. they,

  814. Jesus is so pleased with them

  815. and Kevin is so amazing

  816. and,

  817. you know,

  818. and I'm,

  819. you know,

  820. that's how many of us feel.

  821. No,

  822. it's use what you have.

  823. Maybe you don't have very much.

  824. Maybe you have a young baby

  825. and the only thing you can do

  826. is change nappies

  827. and you don't have much time

  828. for anything else.

  829. Jesus knows that

  830. and he is not expecting you

  831. to do,

  832. right,

  833. a lot.

  834. He knows.

  835. Maybe you have a medical condition

  836. and you can't do very much.

  837. No,

  838. Jesus knows what you have.

  839. He's given it to you.

  840. Just use what you have,

  841. right?

  842. In a way,

  843. that's encouraging.

  844. Here's a master

  845. who is generous

  846. and fair,

  847. right?

  848. And maybe the person

  849. who gets the most reward

  850. is someone you don't expect.

  851. A bit like that widow

  852. who put in the two copper coins

  853. compared to all the rich people

  854. because she put in everything

  855. and they put on just a little bit,

  856. right?

  857. And that's so encouraging.

  858. Use what you have

  859. and what an awesome privilege,

  860. right?

  861. I mean,

  862. I don't know what your boss is like.

  863. So many bosses in Hong Kong

  864. are terrible.

  865. He is the most wonderful master.

  866. Not Kevin,

  867. by the way,

  868. but

  869. but yeah,

  870. use what you have,

  871. so use it

  872. and we'll come back

  873. to the first servant later.

  874. But of course,

  875. use what you have,

  876. well,

  877. for what?

  878. And that is the third story.

  879. It's not even a parable,

  880. right?

  881. The final judgment

  882. because he doesn't say

  883. then it will be like,

  884. it's not,

  885. this is what it's like,

  886. this is actually what it is.

  887. This is the future.

  888. This is Jesus' return.

  889. And verse 31,

  890. when the Son of Man

  891. comes in his glory

  892. and all the angels with him,

  893. then he will sit

  894. on his glorious throne.

  895. Before him will be gathered

  896. all the nations

  897. and he will separate people

  898. one from another

  899. as a shepherd separates

  900. the sheep from the goats.

  901. Imagine the scene,

  902. the Son of Man,

  903. Jesus,

  904. in glory,

  905. on a throne,

  906. all the angels with him.

  907. There's not a single angel

  908. out there suing something else

  909. because,

  910. you know,

  911. this is the end of the world.

  912. The universe has stopped.

  913. There's nothing to do.

  914. There's only one thing

  915. happening right now

  916. which is,

  917. well,

  918. the final judgment.

  919. Here is Jesus.

  920. He gathers all the nations,

  921. all the billions of people

  922. from across the world,

  923. from across history,

  924. before him.

  925. But it's not about nations.

  926. It's about individuals,

  927. right?

  928. He separates people.

  929. You go there.

  930. You go there.

  931. No protests.

  932. No rebellions.

  933. No complaints.

  934. This is it.

  935. This is Jesus coming back.

  936. I mean,

  937. I think I made too many jokes,

  938. right?

  939. In a way,

  940. this is really solemn.

  941. It's an awesome scene,

  942. but this is what will happen.

  943. This is the future

  944. for all of us.

  945. I know you want to get that right,

  946. right?

  947. But then,

  948. it does seem a bit unusual

  949. how Jesus judges here,

  950. right?

  951. Because you read it

  952. and it sounds like

  953. you need to be kind to the poor.

  954. Because verse 34,

  955. then the king will say

  956. to those on his right,

  957. come,

  958. you who are blessed

  959. by my father,

  960. inherit the kingdom,

  961. prepared for you

  962. from the foundation

  963. of the world.

  964. For I was hungry

  965. and you gave me food.

  966. I was thirsty

  967. and you gave me drink.

  968. I was a stranger

  969. and you welcomed me.

  970. I was naked

  971. and you clothed me.

  972. I was sick

  973. and you visited me.

  974. I was in prison

  975. and you came to me.

  976. Right?

  977. But we didn't see you.

  978. Well,

  979. when you did,

  980. what you did

  981. for the least of these?

  982. It's what you did for me.

  983. It sounds like,

  984. yeah,

  985. helping the poor,

  986. which of course

  987. we know is a good thing,

  988. but you'd expect Jesus

  989. to say,

  990. okay,

  991. you guys,

  992. you cling to the cross

  993. and you don't.

  994. So,

  995. that's the big difference,

  996. right?

  997. You believe in me

  998. and you don't.

  999. Well,

  1000. that's why we need

  1001. to think carefully

  1002. about this.

  1003. Well,

  1004. what does he mean?

  1005. Well,

  1006. first of all,

  1007. and it sounds almost

  1008. like they're earning it,

  1009. right?

  1010. Hey,

  1011. you've done good,

  1012. you've helped the poor

1013. and you haven't done good.

  1014. Well,

  1015. first of all,

  1016. verse 34,

  1017. notice what he says.

  1018. Come,

  1019. you who are blessed

  1020. by my father.

  1021. Come and inherit

  1022. the kingdom.

  1023. I mean,

1024. they are words of grace,

  1025. right?

  1026. You are blessed.

  1027. You inherit.

  1028. Inheriting,

  1029. you don't do anything

  1030. for that.

  1031. You just receive.

  1032. And of course,

  1033. you know,

1034. what is Jesus going to do

  1035. after his speech?

  1036. He's going to go

  1037. to the cross.

  1038. Why would he go

  1039. to the cross

1040. if we can earn it

  1041. by helping the poor?

  1042. But also,

  1043. actually even more,

  1044. look at the surprise

  1045. of the righteous.

  1046. They're kind of surprised,

  1047. right?

  1048. I mean,

  1049. if I was thinking

1050. I was going to earn salvation

  1051. and Jesus says,

  1052. yes,

  1053. you're in,

  1054. I would go,

  1055. yes,

  1056. I've done enough,

  1057. right?

  1058. No one says that.

  1059. They're just surprised.

  1060. Oh,

  1061. we didn't know

  1062. we were helping you.

  1063. They were not doing

  1064. anything to get in

  1065. or something.

1066. It was just what they were,

  1067. they were just normally

  1068. living like this.

  1069. And they were surprised

  1070. that Jesus actually,

  1071. you know,

  1072. saw that

  1073. and cared so much

  1074. about it.

  1075. That's the thing,

  1076. right?

  1077. And it's not like

  1078. the ones who didn't

  1079. that they,

  1080. well,

  1081. they tried,

1082. but they didn't do it enough.

  1083. There's no standard.

  1084. It's very binary.

  1085. There's people who do,

  1086. people who don't.

  1087. It's really one

  1088. or the other.

  1089. And also,

  1090. it's not just generally

  1091. the poor,

  1092. right?

  1093. Because it's,

  1094. well,

  1095. verse 40,

1096. look at what Jesus says.

  1097. And whatever you did

  1098. for the least

  1099. of these,

  1100. my brothers.

  1101. Yeah,

  1102. he says,

  1103. this is these,

  1104. my brothers.

1105. This is about poor Christians.

  1106. Doesn't mean we don't need

1107. to care about all the poor,

1108. but the focus is here

  1109. on Christians.

  1110. And actually,

  1111. to make that,

  1112. so in a way,

  1113. it's,

  1114. you know,

  1115. it's serving God's people.

  1116. That's what he wants,

  1117. serve God's people.

  1118. And to understand it,

  1119. I think you,

  1120. you know,

1121. we think of being a Christian

  1122. in modern Hong Kong,

  1123. where being a Christian

  1124. is easy.

  1125. Actually,

1126. in most places in the world,

  1127. being a Christian,

  1128. you know,

  1129. you're in a small,

  1130. marginalized,

  1131. little community.

  1132. You know,

  1133. you're in a Muslim country

  1134. or something,

  1135. and the majority

  1136. is Muslim,

1137. and they have all the power,

  1138. and the Christians

  1139. are just this,

  1140. this tiny group,

  1141. right?

  1142. And then they're marginalized,

  1143. and they're oppressed.

1144. That is what it's like

  1145. in most places

  1146. to be a Christian.

  1147. To be a Christian

  1148. is to be,

  1149. in many countries,

  1150. poor and hungry

  1151. and in prison.

  1152. And you have

  1153. just two communities.

  1154. You have the,

  1155. you know,

  1156. the world,

  1157. and they reject

  1158. the Christian community,

1159. and you have the Christians,

1160. and they care for each other.

  1161. So in a way,

1162. what this boils down to

  1163. is just

  1164. what Jesus is saying,

1165. which side are you on?

  1166. Are you on

  1167. Jesus' side?

  1168. Then you're part

  1169. of the church,

  1170. and I guess

  1171. you embrace the church.

  1172. Or if,

1173. are you not part of,

  1174. not on Jesus' side,

  1175. in which case

  1176. you probably

  1177. will reject the church

  1178. and,

  1179. you know,

  1180. oppress them.

  1181. That is basically

  1182. what lies behind it.

  1183. It's so different

  1184. from here,

  1185. because here,

  1186. you know,

  1187. you become a Christian,

  1188. the only thing

  1189. that changes,

  1190. well,

  1191. Sunday morning,

  1192. I can't go

  1193. and lie in bed,

  1194. I go to church,

  1195. right?

  1196. That's almost,

  1197. there's so little cost

  1198. to being a Christian.

  1199. In many places

  1200. in the world,

  1201. there's a huge cost,

  1202. and I think

  1203. that's what lies

  1204. behind it.

  1205. So,

  1206. yeah,

  1207. which side

  1208. do you belong to?

  1209. Because your attitude

  1210. to Christ

1211. is seen in your attitude

  1212. to the church.

  1213. And Jesus said,

  1214. how do you know,

  1215. how can people see

1216. that you belong to me?

  1217. Well,

1218. if you love one another,

  1219. if you are part

  1220. of the church,

  1221. if you care

  1222. for each other,

  1223. that is almost,

  1224. that's the evidence

  1225. of being a Christian,

  1226. because,

  1227. you know,

  1228. as Christians,

  1229. we need it.

  1230. If life is hard,

  1231. as it is,

  1232. we need each other.

  1233. So,

  1234. you put these parables

  1235. together,

1236. I hope you can see

  1237. what they say,

  1238. right?

  1239. These three things

  1240. together,

  1241. prepare for Jesus'

  1242. return by using

  1243. what you have

  1244. to serve God's people.

  1245. That is what

  1246. these three things,

  1247. I think,

  1248. together say.

  1249. This is what,

  1250. yeah,

  1251. how Jesus wants us

  1252. to live.

1253. You want to be ready,

  1254. right?

1255. What should we be doing

  1256. now?

1257. How should we be living

  1258. our life?

  1259. What should we do

  1260. with our time

  1261. and money?

  1262. Well,

  1263. I want you to

  1264. serve each other,

  1265. to love one another,

  1266. to take care.

  1267. So,

  1268. not just showing up

  1269. on Sunday.

  1270. I mean,

1271. it's great to be here.

  1272. I hope you get a

1273. kick out of being here

  1274. that will last you

  1275. the whole week.

  1276. But other people,

1277. they go to the football

1278. field and they get a

  1279. kick out of that

  1280. last Sunday week.

  1281. You know,

  1282. we're here for each

  1283. other.

  1284. We're here for

  1285. community,

  1286. right?

  1287. And not just hanging

  1288. out with your CG,

  1289. but,

  1290. you know,

  1291. actually loving

  1292. and supporting

  1293. each other.

  1294. And what if it's

  1295. really harder

  1296. to be a Christian?

  1297. You know,

  1298. CG is great.

  1299. What if your CG

  1300. member is fired

  1301. from their job

  1302. because they're a

  1303. Christian and

  1304. then they can't

  1305. pay their rent

  1306. and they need to

  1307. move in with you

  1308. for three months?

  1309. Would you like that?

  1310. I guess then it's

  1311. suddenly,

  1312. okay,

  1313. do I really love

  1314. my CG members

  1315. or not,

  1316. right?

  1317. That is what

  1318. he's asking.

  1319. All right?

  1320. Even now,

  1321. people may not

  1322. get fired,

  1323. but people here

  1324. are going through

  1325. a tough time.

  1326. Let's take time

  1327. to sit with them,

  1328. right?

  1329. Listen patiently

  1330. to them

  1331. because they're

  1332. your brothers

  1333. and sisters

  1334. and Jesus

  1335. loves them

  1336. and he wants,

  1337. and so if he

  1338. loves them,

  1339. we want to love

  1340. them.

  1341. And using

  1342. what you have,

  1343. I mean,

  1344. for some of it

  1345. it's money.

  1346. I think the

  1347. challenge in Hong Kong

  1348. is often time,

  1349. right?

  1350. Are we willing

  1351. to give our time

  1352. to people?

  1353. Give our homes.

  1354. That's,

  1355. yeah.

  1356. Or how about

  1357. Christians going

  1358. through hard times

  1359. elsewhere?

  1360. Because the thing

  1361. is that the

  1362. social media

  1363. and stuff,

  1364. right,

  1365. we know what

  1366. the world is like

  1367. and we know

  1368. that there's

  1369. plenty of Christians

  1370. in Southeast Asia

  1371. or in India

  1372. and life is very

  1373. difficult for them

  1374. and,

  1375. you know,

  1376. some of those

  1377. Christians are,

  1378. you know,

  1379. they have to survive

  1380. on hardly anything

1381. and we have so much

  1382. money compared to them.

  1383. Wouldn't it be

  1384. wonderful if we

  1385. can support

  1386. the church

  1387. in places

  1388. like Bangladesh

  1389. or something?

  1390. There's organizations

  1391. doing that,

  1392. like Stand Asia

1393. or here in Hong Kong

  1394. or other ones.

  1395. It's wonderful

  1396. if we can be

  1397. a worldwide church,

  1398. right,

  1399. where we love

  1400. our brothers

  1401. and sisters.

  1402. And they're not

  1403. just people

  1404. out there.

  1405. They're our brothers

  1406. and sister

  1407. and Jesus died

  1408. for them,

  1409. Jesus loves them,

  1410. he's made us

  1411. part of the same

  1412. family.

  1413. You know,

  1414. can we try

  1415. and love them?

  1416. That's one thing

  1417. that Jesus would

  1418. love us to do.

  1419. Right?

  1420. If we are Christ,

  1421. we will love

  1422. his little ones.

  1423. That is what

  1424. genuine faith

  1425. looks like.

  1426. Because it does

  1427. matter,

  1428. right?

  1429. I've been focusing

  1430. on the positive,

  1431. but in these stories

  1432. and these parables,

  1433. that there is,

  1434. there are people

  1435. who just do not

  1436. live like this

  1437. and it doesn't

  1438. end well for them.

  1439. There is a strong

  1440. theme of judgment,

  1441. right?

  1442. I mean,

  1443. five foolish

  1444. virgins

  1445. shut out

  1446. from the wedding

  1447. feast.

  1448. They knock

  1449. on the door

  1450. and the guy

  1451. says,

  1452. I do not

  1453. know you.

  1454. Chilling words.

  1455. Although we need

  1456. to remember,

  1457. you know,

  1458. wise and foolish,

  1459. I mean,

  1460. there are moral

  1461. words in the Bible.

  1462. I mean,

  1463. it's not that

  1464. one was smart

  1465. and the other

  1466. was a bit forgetful.

  1467. You know,

  1468. the kind of people

  1469. they're always

  1470. prepared and

  1471. they always

  1472. have spare

  1473. masks and,

  1474. you know,

  1475. an umbrella

  1476. and sunglasses

  1477. and all that

  1478. stuff with them

  1479. and there's

  1480. people who

  1481. are just

  1482. forgetful.

  1483. Oh,

  1484. I forgot my

  1485. keys.

  1486. These are not

  1487. the forgetful

  1488. versions.

  1489. These are,

  1490. well,

  1491. foolish versions.

  1492. Right?

  1493. I mean,

  1494. if you want

  1495. to be a

  1496. bridesmaid,

  1497. if you want

  1498. to have a

  1499. lamp,

  1500. you need

  1501. oil to

  1502. just not

  1503. bring oil

  1504. in a way

  1505. you don't

  1506. care much

  1507. about the

  1508. groom,

  1509. right?

  1510. You don't

  1511. care much

  1512. about the

  1513. wedding if

  1514. you don't

  1515. bring oil.

  1516. In a

  1517. modern day,

  1518. if you're

  1519. a bridesmaid

  1520. and you

  1521. forget to

  1522. put on

  1523. your

  1524. bridesmaid's

  1525. dress,

  1526. I don't

  1527. think the

  1528. bride would

  1529. think well

  1530. of you,

  1531. right?

  1532. I mean,

  1533. this is a

  1534. more serious,

  1535. ultimately,

  1536. they just

  1537. don't care

  1538. about the

  1539. groom and

  1540. bride,

  1541. right?

  1542. And if

  1543. he says,

  1544. I do not

  1545. know you,

  1546. I mean,

  1547. knowing is

  1548. relational,

  1549. actually,

  1550. this is quite

  1551. a relational

  1552. breach here,

  1553. right?

  1554. If you treat

  1555. me like this.

  1556. Or look

  1557. at that

  1558. servant,

  1559. the servant

  1560. with one

  1561. talent.

  1562. I mean,

  1563. that was

  1564. two and a

  1565. half million

  1566. dollars that

  1567. he got to

  1568. invest.

  1569. And what

  1570. does he do?

  1571. He buries it

  1572. in the

  1573. ground and,

  1574. I don't know,

  1575. go and watch

  1576. Netflix or

  1577. whatever.

  1578. Again,

  1579. it's not that

  1580. the servant

  1581. really tried

  1582. his best,

  1583. and I'm

  1584. sorry,

  1585. I only made

  1586. half a

  1587. talent more.

  1588. I tried,

  1589. but you know,

  1590. the economy

  1591. isn't good.

  1592. It's nothing

  1593. like that,

  1594. right?

  1595. He just

  1596. buries it

  1597. in the

  1598. ground and

  1599. does nothing.

  1600. And no

  1601. wonder Jesus

  1602. says,

  1603. wicked and

  1604. slothful

  1605. servant.

  1606. Well,

  1607. again,

  1608. this is a

  1609. servant,

  1610. right?

  1611. The virgin

  1612. was waiting

  1613. for the

  1614. groom,

  1615. and this

  1616. servant

  1617. belongs to

  1618. the master,

  1619. except that,

  1620. well,

  1621. he did not

  1622. do what

  1623. Jesus asked.

  1624. He didn't

  1625. do his

  1626. job.

  1627. He just

  1628. took the

  1629. time and

  1630. the money

  1631. and the

  1632. gifts and

  1633. everything

  1634. Jesus gave

  1635. and didn't

  1636. do anything

  1637. with it.

  1638. Well,

  1639. Jesus,

  1640. yeah,

  1641. I mean,

  1642. what does

  1643. he care

  1644. about his

  1645. master?

  1646. His

  1647. wonderful,

  1648. generous

  1649. master,

  1650. and he

  1651. says,

  1652. oh,

  1653. I thought

  1654. you were

  1655. so harsh.

  1656. You don't

  1657. know me,

  1658. right?

  1659. Ultimately.

  1660. Or,

  1661. yeah,

  1662. the goats,

  1663. of course,

  1664. that's the

  1665. most severe.

  1666. Verse 41,

  1667. you know,

  1668. depart from

  1669. me,

  1670. you cursed

  1671. into the

  1672. eternal fire

  1673. prepared for

  1674. the devil

  1675. and his

  1676. angels.

  1677. You know,

  1678. the fire

  1679. wasn't for

  1680. them.

  1681. It was for

  1682. the devil,

  1683. but if

  1684. you choose

  1685. his side,

  1686. yeah,

  1687. that's where

  1688. you end

  1689. up.

  1690. And that's

  1691. a scary

  1692. word,

  1693. right?

  1694. The eternal

  1695. fire,

  1696. or verse

  1697. 46,

  1698. these will

  1699. go away

  1700. into eternal

  1701. punishment,

  1702. but the

  1703. righteous into

  1704. eternal

  1705. life.

  1706. But again,

  1707. which side

  1708. were they on,

  1709. right?

  1710. I mean,

  1711. ultimately,

  1712. again,

  1713. we shouldn't

  1714. see this as

  1715. a standard.

  1716. These are not

  1717. people,

  1718. you know,

  1719. all of them,

  1720. and they really

  1721. tried their best.

  1722. They just

  1723. weren't good

  1724. enough.

  1725. That's not how

  1726. this thinks,

  1727. right?

  1728. It's very

  1729. binary.

  1730. And ultimately,

  1731. yeah,

  1732. it's coming

  1733. down,

  1734. do you know

  1735. Jesus,

  1736. right?

  1737. The virgins,

  1738. they rejected

  1739. the groom because

  1740. they didn't

  1741. prepare for

  1742. their wedding,

  1743. and the

  1744. servant rejected

  1745. the master

  1746. because he

  1747. just didn't

  1748. do anything

  1749. with the

  1750. talent.

  1751. And the

  1752. other people,

  1753. well,

  1754. they rejected

  1755. Jesus'

  1756. community that

  1757. Jesus loved

  1758. so much.

  1759. They didn't

  1760. know the

  1761. master.

  1762. They didn't

  1763. know how he

  1764. identified with

  1765. these little

  1766. ones,

  1767. right?

  1768. He's not a

  1769. king on a

  1770. throne.

  1771. But he,

  1772. you know,

  1773. he loves

  1774. these little

  1775. ones.

  1776. And if you

  1777. give a cup

  1778. of water to

  1779. one of these

  1780. little ones,

  1781. he's so

  1782. pleased and

  1783. you're blessed.

  1784. If you reject

  1785. one of these

  1786. little ones,

  1787. yeah,

  1788. he cares about

  1789. it.

  1790. If you reject

  1791. them,

  1792. you reject

  1793. him.

  1794. I know

  1795. these are

  1796. scary verses.

  1797. I mean,

  1798. if you're not

  1799. a Christian,

  1800. I hope you

  1801. take these

  1802. words seriously.

  1803. I mean,

  1804. it's more

  1805. about,

  1806. you know,

  1807. challenging

  1808. Christians than

  1809. you,

  1810. but it is

  1811. true,

  1812. right?

  1813. There is an

  1814. authority figure

  1815. here.

  1816. There's a

  1817. groom,

  1818. there's a

  1819. master,

  1820. there's a

  1821. king,

  1822. the son of

  1823. man.

  1824. And it's

  1825. his world,

  1826. it's his

  1827. party.

  1828. And,

  1829. yeah,

  1830. if you don't

  1831. know him and

  1832. you don't belong

  1833. to him,

  1834. then you won't

  1835. be at the

  1836. party.

  1837. that makes

  1838. you want to

  1839. come back.

  1840. He is good,

  1841. he's generous,

  1842. he's kind,

  1843. I hope you

  1844. see that

  1845. through it.

  1846. He will

  1847. love to have

  1848. you back,

  1849. he would

  1850. love to

  1851. forgive you,

  1852. he would love

  1853. to welcome

  1854. you at the

  1855. wedding,

  1856. at the

  1857. party,

  1858. to enter

  1859. into his

  1860. joy together.

  1861. So do

  1862. do that.

  1863. I hope

  1864. for us

  1865. Christians,

  1866. if we

  1867. see Jesus

  1868. here,

  1869. I hope we

  1870. want to be

  1871. ready,

  1872. right?

  1873. And not

  1874. out of

  1875. fear,

  1876. but because

  1877. we want to

  1878. be with

  1879. him at

  1880. the

  1881. wedding.

  1882. It's a

  1883. privilege to

  1884. be his

  1885. bridesmaid.

  1886. It's a

  1887. privilege to

  1888. be his

  1889. servant and

  1890. be entrusted

  1891. with millions

  1892. and using

  1893. that for

  1894. him,

  1895. using that

  1896. to love

  1897. his people

  1898. of which

  1899. we are

  1900. one.

  1901. I hope

  1902. it's just

  1903. a natural

  1904. response to

  1905. this,

  1906. right?

  1907. Again,

  1908. this is not

  1909. a standard

  1910. we need

  1911. to reach.

  1912. It's just

  1913. a natural

  1914. response if

  1915. you know

  1916. Jesus.

  1917. And if

  1918. you're not

  1919. sure,

  1920. if you

  1921. wonder if

  1922. this is

  1923. you,

  1924. please just

  1925. take another

  1926. look at

  1927. Jesus,

  1928. right?

  1929. Again,

  1930. if we're not

  1931. living like

  1932. this,

  1933. if you

  1934. wonder,

  1935. am I

  1936. really doing

  1937. anything with

  1938. my life for

  1939. Jesus?

  1940. Am I

  1941. really,

  1942. you know,

  1943. come back to

  1944. him,

  1945. come back to

  1946. the son of

  1947. man.

  1948. You know,

  1949. see his

  1950. generosity,

  1951. see his

  1952. kindness,

  1953. and see

  1954. the gospel

  1955. as,

  1956. you know,

  1957. chapter 26,

  1958. right?

  1959. The same

  1960. son of

  1961. man.

  1962. I just

  1963. think it's

  1964. so,

  1965. you know,

  1966. you wonder

  1967. what it

  1968. means,

  1969. the son of

  1970. man.

  1971. But here in

  1972. chapter 25,

  1973. right?

  1974. The son of

  1975. man on his

  1976. glorious throne.

  1977. But we go to

  1978. chapter 26.

  1979. when Jesus

  1980. had finished

  1981. all these

  1982. sayings,

  1983. he said to

  1984. his disciples,

  1985. you know

  1986. that after

  1987. two days

  1988. the Passover

  1989. is coming

  1990. and the

  1991. son of

  1992. man will

  1993. be delivered

  1994. up to

  1995. be crucified.

  1996. And the

  1997. son of

  1998. man who

  1999. will judge

  2000. all the

  2001. nations,

  2002. he went

  2003. to the

  2004. cross for

  2005. you.

  2006. And the

  2007. same

  2008. son of

  2009. man who

  2010. will give

  2011. eternal

  2012. punishment,

  2013. he went

  2014. and took

  2015. eternal

  2016. punishment

  2017. to save

  2018. you.

  2019. If that

  2020. doesn't

  2021. show love

  2022. and generosity

  2023. and kindness

  2024. and melt

  2025. our hearts,

  2026. then we

  2027. just haven't

  2028. understood

  2029. him.

  2030. So come

  2031. back to

  2032. your king

  2033. and savior,

  2034. right?

  2035. And know

  2036. him and

  2037. then we

  2038. want to

  2039. be ready,

  2040. we want

  2041. to be at

  2042. the feast,

  2043. we want

  2044. to prepare

  2045. to meet

  2046. him,

  2047. we want

  2048. to use

  2049. what we

  2050. have to

  2051. serve

  2052. him.

  2053. So let

  2054. that change

  2055. our life.

  2056. Why don't

  2057. we pray

  2058. together?

  2059. Lord Jesus,

  2060. we are

  2061. in awe

  2062. of your

  2063. majesty

  2064. and glory,

  2065. your

  2066. authority,

  2067. but also

  2068. your love

  2069. and grace

  2070. and kindness.

  2071. If we,

  2072. yeah,

  2073. we want

  2074. to see

  2075. you more

  2076. as who

  2077. you are.

  2078. Thank you

  2079. that you

  2080. tell us

  2081. about yourself

  2082. and we

  2083. can know

  2084. you.

  2085. Would we

  2086. respond

  2087. naturally?

  2088. Would we

  2089. respond with

  2090. love?

  2091. Would we

  2092. respond with

  2093. faith?

  2094. Would we

  2095. respond with

  2096. service,

  2097. with being

  2098. ready to

  2099. meet you

  2100. because we

  2101. see your

  2102. grace?

  2103. We pray

  2104. for each

  2105. one of

  2106. us here.

  2107. Those of

  2108. us who

  2109. don't know

  2110. you yet,

  2111. would we

  2112. see you

  2113. and come

  2114. to you?

  2115. Those of

  2116. us who

  2117. maybe

  2118. have been

  2119. going to

  2120. church,

  2121. but we've

  2122. never really

  2123. thought about

  2124. what it means

  2125. to know you

  2126. and never

  2127. really thought

  2128. what it means

  2129. for our

  2130. lives.

  2131. Yeah,

  2132. would we

  2133. maybe take

  2134. that step?

  2135. Not out

  2136. of fear,

  2137. not out

  2138. of standards

  2139. that we

  2140. need to

  2141. meet,

  2142. but as

  2143. a response

  2144. to who

  2145. you are

  2146. and would

  2147. it change

  2148. our life.

  2149. Lord,

  2150. help us

  2151. to talk

  2152. about these

  2153. things,

  2154. help us

  2155. to love

  2156. each other,

  2157. help us

  2158. to encourage

  2159. each other,

  2160. help us

  2161. to serve

  2162. each other

  2163. as you

  2164. want us

  2165. to do

  2166. here,

  2167. that as

  2168. a church

  2169. we would

  2170. keep going,

  2171. as a church

  2172. we would

  2173. serve and

  2174. love and

  2175. all be

  2176. ready on

  2177. that day.

  2178. In Jesus'

  2179. name,

  2180. Amen.
