  1. can help us to test our own view of sin. And I think that's always something that's important

  2. for us to consider. My attention was drawn this week to a relatively recent Barna Institute survey,

  3. so that's a group that often kind of do surveys about sort of Christian belief. And this was a

  4. survey done within Christian churches that revealed some striking, alarming things. Only 44%

  5. of those who were surveyed, for example, believed that Jesus lived a perfectly sinless life.

  6. 52% believed it was possible to earn one's salvation by good works, says people, within churches.

  7. And only 35% believed that God wants His people to be holy, that growing in holiness is something

  8. that matters. What do those statistics reveal? Well, they certainly reveal error and confusion

  9. about the person and work of Jesus. It also, in turn, reveals confusion about the reality of sin,

  10. which in turn shows confusion about the truth that God's grace is and will always be the only basis

  11. for the hope of salvation. But also, it reveals to us that the warnings of John's letter are warnings

  12. that God's people always need to hear. So, the situation facing John, we thought about this a

  13. little bit last week, he is confronting head-on some false teaching. There were some people in first

  14. century Ephesus who were separating Jesus so that they said He was not fully God and fully man.

  15. And one of the truths, the teachings that they were bringing related to that is that because the

  16. spirit is more significant than the body and that Jesus never took on a body, they were teaching what

  17. we do in and with our bodies actually doesn't matter. That holiness in life doesn't matter,

  18. that it's about some kind of spirit connection. So, we come to this section of John's letter,

  19. and what we're going to hear is him recording for us three false slogans that were being produced by

  20. these false teachers, wrong answers to the problem of sin. And he's going to invite us to test our own

  21. view of sin against a key statement, test their teaching against a key statement also, that God is light

  22. in him that is no darkness. And then we're also going to discover from John God's response, God's answer

  23. to the very real problem of sin in our lives, as we'll discover it centers on Jesus, who last week we

  24. encountered as the Word of Life. But let's begin here in verse 5 with the test that John invites us to

  25. apply. So, verse 5, this is the message we have heard from him and declare to you, God is light, in him

  26. there is no darkness at all. So, John is bringing Jesus' message about God to the church. And in summary,

  27. he says this is what Jesus would want us to know about God, God is light. Think about the property of

  28. light. Light is always shining, it is always revealing. And when applied to God, it's saying

  29. that God is always shining, revealing his purity, his holiness, his majesty, his perfection. And that's

  30. the consistent message of the Bible. The book of Leviticus, we hear God say, be holy because I am holy.

  31. In the prophet Habakkuk, he says, your eyes, speaking of God, are too pure to look on evil.

  32. We could go to so many places and we would discover this God who is holy is other than us,

  33. set apart from us. There's no contamination or impurity with God. And that has implications then

  34. for how we live. Think about what Bob read for us from John chapter 3, that invitation to come to Jesus

    John 3 chapter mention

  35. to find life and to walk in the light. One of the problems was people were choosing darkness instead

  36. of light. Later in John chapter 12, Jesus would say, walk in the light while you have the light,

    John 12 chapter mention

  37. so that you may become children of the light. It's an interesting idea. We become what we behold.

  38. You'll look to Jesus as the one who is light and we will become more like him. But John is saying to us,

  39. God is light, there is no darkness in God whatsoever. To consider God is to consider his intense,

  40. perfect glory and beauty. John says, this is the message that we heard from Jesus. We're declaring to

  41. you. Jesus, who we know never compromised on sin. Jesus who came as the only answer to sin.

  42. And so as John is listening to false teaching, he wants the readers of his day and every day

  43. to understand that it is foolish, indeed it is dangerous, to imagine I can have fellowship with

  44. a God who is perfect light, but not seek to walk in the light of his truth and his holiness.

  45. John is going to make plain that it's a denial of God's truth also to say that any Christian or any

  46. church will not struggle with sin, will not need cleansing from Christ. And one of the false

  47. teachings is that we've moved beyond that. We've reached a higher level. We've reached perfect. No,

  48. we will always struggle with sin. We always need cleansing. And John's desire as he sets about with

  49. this statement and then approaching these errors is to see a church who's walking in the light.

  50. That's the language of verse 7. If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with

  51. one another and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us from all sin. This is what he wants for us,

  52. to be a church who are walking in the light together. We're allowing God's glory and truth and God's

  53. grace to shine on us, causing us to be honest about sin and causing us to delight in God's grace,

  54. as the good news of the Lord Jesus also shines in the gospel. Because God is light and there's no

  55. darkness in him. And remember, John has already told us that Jesus is fully God. So Jesus is light

  56. and there's no darkness in him. He is the one who came to shine the light of God's glory and grace in

  57. the world. Jesus is the one who came to take and to endure the darkness of sin and its judgment so that

  58. we can take our sin into the light, so that we can live in the light, so we can have fellowship with God.

  59. And so we need to be clear on the identity of Jesus and we need to be clear about the reality of sin.

  60. And that's why he takes us to these lies that we need to reject from false teachings. So in verses 6

  61. and 10, we're going to see three of them. But even before we get back into our text, I think we've seen

  62. again this week that whenever there are significant debates going on, and it's just a feature of news

  63. reporting nowadays that we'll hear these fact-checking claims and statements being made. Is that thing

  64. that has just been reported, can it be verified? Are there statistics to back it up? Are there

  65. time-stamped photographs that give proof of what's being reported on? And so John wants to fact-check

  66. some slogans from these false teachers and to check them against what's true of God. If God is light,

  67. does what they say about sin really stack up? And we'll see that it doesn't, and so we must reject

  68. them as error. So there's three slogans. Here is the first one. It's here in verse 6. The first slogan

  69. of these false teachers, we deny that sin breaks our fellowship with God. If we claim to have fellowship

  70. with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But there were a group of

  71. false teachers saying, this body, it's just like an envelope. The stuff that matters is what's inside.

  72. What we do with our bodies and our body really doesn't matter. We can claim a pure spiritual

  73. connection with God regardless of our behavior. That what we do in life is not going to affect the

  74. fact that we can have fellowship with God. John says, it's nonsense. If we are walking in darkness,

  75. and the imagery of walking, this is our habit, this is our pattern. If our direction of travel

  76. is to go against the God who is light, it is impossible to still enjoy fellowship with God.

  77. It is impossible, and we know this, for light and dark to mix. It is impossible to imagine we can have

  78. fellowship with the God of perfect light and holiness if we are not being honest and dealing with our sin.

  79. Again, we hear that all through Scripture. Psalm 5 verse 4, you are not a God who is pleased with

    Psalms 5:4

  80. wickedness. That's really straightforward. Psalms 66, a personal reflection. If I had cherished sin in my

  81. heart, the Lord would not have listened. Isaiah 59, here's what the prophet says.

  82. Your iniquities have separated you from your God. Your sins have hidden His face from you so that He

  83. will not hear. So, if we find ourselves saying, I don't need to go to the cross for cleansing.

  84. I don't need to confess sin. If we say to ourselves, I don't need to worry about personal holiness.

  85. If I believe that God's grace gives me a free pass to act however I want, John would say to us,

  86. we're believing a lie. We're out of fellowship with God, and we're out of touch with reality.

  87. That's the first slogan and John's response. Here's the second one. This is another thing the false

  88. teachers were saying. They were saying, we deny that sin exists in our nature. Verse 8, if we claim to be

  89. without sin, we deceive ourselves, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

  90. Think about that. Even today, when the sun was shining, one thing that we know about the light,

  91. when it shines, it exposes. You clean your windows, the sun shines, and you see the smears that you

  92. hoped weren't there. The sun shines, and the dust on your TV screen dances before your very eyes.

  93. And that light of God that shines and exposes

  94. shines a light on the sin, the impurity, the imperfections in our hearts and in our lives.

  95. And so the teaching of these false teachers is clearly error, as they claim sin is no longer a

  96. problem to us. We have gained a victory over it. John says, to think like that is to lie to ourselves

  97. and to not have the truth. Even to think about some of the texts that we have considered recently in

  98. church. To go back to the imagery of Genesis 4, God very clearly says to Cain, sin is like a wild

  99. animal. It's like a predator. It crouches. It's ready to attack. If we say, there's no sin in me,

  100. I don't have a problem with sin, we are already doomed. Isaiah 6. Think about the prophet's response

  101. as he was exposed to the reality of God's majesty and holiness. It's not, here is one in an equal

  102. measure with me. It's, woe is me, I am undone. Or the testimony of the apostle Paul in Romans 7,

  103. speaking of that ongoing war within. And remember, he's an apostle. But he would testify, what I want to do,

  104. I don't do. What I hate to do, because I know it's wrong, I do. Who will rescue me? Who will deliver me?

  105. Think about Jesus giving us the Lord's Prayer, encouraging us to pray, forgive us our sins,

  106. and lead us not into temptation. It is foolish, it is dangerous to deny that sin exists in our nature.

  107. And actually, the real experience of mature believers runs contrary to this as well.

  108. That the more that we are exposed to the reality of who God is, that the more we understand

  109. of God's character, of His glory, of His holiness, the more we begin to see the extent of God's love

  110. in contrast to our own lack of love, mature believers would testify often to being more aware

  111. of personal sin as the years go by. To deny then that we battle sin in our nature

  112. is a dangerous error. Because again, think about that practically. If I think my sin is not a problem,

  113. I'm not going to go to Jesus for cleansing. Or I'm not going to ask the Spirit to help me to resist.

  114. And we would miss the promise and the assurance of verse 9.

  115. If we confess our sins, instead of claiming to be without sin, He is faithful and just,

  116. and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. There's a wonderful promise,

  117. a wonderful pardon that we will miss out if we deny the reality of ongoing sin.

  118. There's a third slogan in here, a third error of the false teachers.

  119. We deny that sin is seen in our lives. Listen to how John frames it in verse 10.

  120. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar. We make God out to be a liar,

  121. and His Word is not in us. For John, this is the worst. This is the worst lie,

  122. is to accuse God of lying if we claim, I am perfect. I don't have any form of sin problem.

  123. What makes this so serious? Well, it simply goes against what God reveals in His Word.

  124. Isaiah 53 is a wonderful promise of the gospel, but it speaks to the universal reality of sin. We all

  125. like sheep have gone astray. Each of us has turned to his own way. Or Psalm 14, all have turned away,

  126. all have become corrupt. There is no one who does good. To claim we have not sinned makes the gospel

  127. of no value, makes God's Word out to be a lie. Because the gospel says that sin is so serious a thing,

  128. that nothing less than the sacrificial death of the Son of God could forgive it.

  129. But they say, I don't sin. For I don't need Jesus. I've reached perfection by myself.

  130. How we think about sin matters because it will have implications for how we think about Jesus

  131. and how we respond to the gospel. There's lots of wonderful stories told about Spurgeon,

  132. a 19th century preacher down in London. Here is one of them. Spurgeon was having dinner with a man

  133. who over the course of that time was clearly showing evidence of believing that theology that claimed that

  134. he had now reached that higher level of perfection. He was done with the battle with sin.

  135. And Spurgeon's wonderful response was to throw a glass of water in his face,

  136. at which point the man had a rather angry reaction, revealing that sin was still lurking.

  137. As Spurgeon put it, the old man in you is not dead. He simply fainted and could be revived with a cup

  138. of water. John warns us. We can lie to ourselves about sin. And we lie to ourselves about sin when we take it lightly.

  139. When we say, well, I am saved by grace, so how I live now doesn't matter.

  140. We take sin lightly and we lie about it when we redefine it to make it seem and sound more acceptable.

  141. When we minimize it. When we turn a blind eye and allow certain sins to become, to use Jerry Bridges' phrase,

  142. respectable sin.

  143. And that's why we need to take our view of sin and apply it to that test. God is light, no darkness in him.

  144. He is pure, shining holiness.

  145. And John wants to expose their wrong thinking.

  146. So that, because he's a pastor and he cares,

  147. he wants his readers then and now

  148. to understand

  149. the darkness of sin.

  150. The danger of not dealing with sin.

  151. So that we would understand our desperate need,

  152. our ongoing need

  153. of the gospel of the Lord Jesus

  154. and the purifying

  155. that he brings.

  156. So that takes us,

  157. thirdly, to the true answer

  158. that we need.

  159. Okay, so

  160. we've said this. Here's

  161. John's statement. God is light.

  162. God is pure and holy.

  163. And he's making

  164. clear by rejecting false

  165. teaching that we are not pure and

  166. holy, that we do sin.

  167. But he says this as well.

  168. We are called to live in the light.

  169. And we're invited

  170. into fellowship with God.

  171. And we should be asking ourselves,

  172. well, how is that possible?

  173. God is perfectly holy

  174. and we are not.

  175. Light and dark cannot mix.

  176. So how can this be?

  177. God is perfectly

  178. and we should be

  179. the answer

  180. The answer comes

  181. not by trying to explain

  182. away sin.

  183. The answer comes

  184. not by lowering the bar

  185. of God's holiness.

  186. Our response

  187. isn't to hide away

  188. in the darkness,

  189. but it's to recognize

  190. God's provision.

  191. It's to understand

  192. that God's answer

  193. to the problem of sin

  194. is His Son,

  195. the Lord Jesus.

  196. The Word of life

  197. and the light of the world.

  198. And so at the beginning

  199. of chapter 2,

  200. Pastor John wants to do

  201. two things for us.

  202. First of all,

  203. he wants to strike

  204. the right balance.

  205. Have a look at verse 1.

  206. He holds these two statements

  207. in a kind of a tension.

  208. So he says,

  209. first of all,

  210. I write this to you

  211. so that you will not sin.

  212. So John never wants

  213. the church

  214. to take sin too lightly.

  215. He says,

  216. here's my goal

  217. that you do not sin.

  218. That's the direction

  219. he wants our life

  220. to be heading in.

  221. Okay?

  222. We know that that

  223. will only be true

  224. for us in glory,

  225. but it still sets

  226. the direction of travel

  227. for the Christian life.

  228. That we are pursuing holiness.

  229. We are pursuing obedience.

  230. So he wants to make clear

  231. that we don't take sin lightly,

  232. but then as a pastor,

  233. he doesn't want to be

  234. too severe also.

  235. Because immediately after,

  236. he says,

  237. but if anybody does sin,

  238. we have an advocate

  239. with the Father,

  240. Jesus Christ.

  241. So he says,

  242. if we do sin,

  243. recognize this,

  244. rest in this,

  245. trust in this,

  246. God has graciously provided

  247. the answer

  248. to the problem of sin.

  249. And this is our good news.

  250. Having considered

  251. the bad news,

  252. the reality that actually

  253. we do have a sin problem,

  254. John then turns

  255. to give us gospel.

  256. That God has provided Jesus

  257. as the answer

  258. to our sin problem.

  259. And this is good news

  260. because it means

  261. we can be honest.

  262. We don't need to try

  263. and hide our sin

  264. to make ourselves

  265. look or feel better

  266. than we are.

  267. We're not invited

  268. to try and cover over our sin

  269. or to try and turn over

  270. a new leaf.

  271. We're not to try

  272. and fix it ourselves

  273. because we simply cannot.

  274. Instead,

  275. we are to look to Jesus

  276. and trust in Jesus.

  277. And to help us with that,

  278. he gives us three wonderful truths

  279. about Jesus.

  280. In quick succession,

  281. and we need them all,

  282. and it's a wonderful picture.

  283. Here's the first wonderful truth

  284. about Jesus.

  285. He is our advocate.

  286. If anybody does sin,

  287. we have an advocate

  288. with the Father,

  289. Jesus Christ,

  290. the righteous one.

  291. So we're taken

  292. into the courtroom.

  293. Here is our advocate,

  294. Jesus.

  295. He comes alongside us

  296. to plead our case.

  297. He mediates for us.

  298. He speaks to the Father

  299. on behalf of his people.

  300. And remember who Jesus is.

  301. He is the God-man.

  302. So having worked for us

  303. on the earth,

  304. John is saying,

  305. Jesus now continues

  306. to work for us in heaven,

  307. pleading our case

  308. on the basis of his

  309. perfect, completed work.

  310. Claiming his all-sufficient merit

  311. as the basis why

  312. people with faith

  313. should be accepted.

  314. And John wants to stress

  315. how reliable Jesus is.

  316. In a law court,

  317. if we ever find ourselves

  318. in trouble with the law,

  319. doubtless we will want

  320. the very best person

  321. to represent us

  322. if we are to get

  323. the verdict that we desire.

  324. And so John wants to tell us

  325. who Jesus is,

  326. this advocate for his people,

  327. for those who trust him.

  328. Notice how he describes Jesus.

  329. So he is our advocate.

  330. Secondly,

  331. he is the righteous one.

  332. See that there

  333. at the end of verse one?

  334. We have an advocate

  335. with the Father,

  336. Jesus Christ,

  337. the righteous one.

  338. And notice that John

  339. calls him Jesus Christ,

  340. wants to keep reminding us

  341. he is fully God,

  342. he is fully man.

  343. This is the one

  344. who has been anointed

  345. to be God's appointed Savior.

  346. And as fully God

  347. and fully man,

  348. he is righteous in his being.

  349. God is righteous,

  350. therefore Jesus is righteous.

  351. He is the standard

  352. of perfection,

  353. and he never shifts

  354. from that line

  355. and that standard.

  356. And you can read the Gospels

  357. and you meet one

  358. who is sinlessly perfect,

  359. righteous in all his ways,

  360. in all his words.

  361. He was righteous

  362. in his being,

  363. he was righteous

  364. in his life,

  365. always doing

  366. the Father's will,

  367. always keeping

  368. the Father's command.

  369. His life given

  370. as a perfect,

  371. righteous sacrifice.

  372. And again,

  373. it reminds us

  374. that getting the identity

  375. of Jesus right matters.

  376. Those 44%

  377. of people polled

  378. who didn't believe

  379. Jesus was sinlessly perfect,

  380. they can have

  381. no assurance

  382. that Jesus

  383. is the basis

  384. for their salvation.

  385. We need to know

  386. that he is

  387. the sinless

  388. Son of God,

  389. that he is

  390. the righteous one,

  391. and as such,

  392. he is perfectly qualified

  393. to be God's answer

  394. to the sin problem

  395. and to be the one

  396. who is the perfect mediator.

  397. As God,

  398. he represents God to us.

  399. As man,

  400. he represents us

  401. before God.

  402. But John's not finished

  403. describing Jesus

  404. as the true answer

  405. we need.

  406. He is our advocate,

  407. he is the righteous one,

  408. but he is also

  409. our sacrifice.

  410. Look at verse 2,

  411. he is the atoning sacrifice,

  412. the word there

  413. is literally

  414. propitiation,

  415. for our sins,

  416. not only for ours,

  417. but also for the sins

  418. of the whole world.

  419. So this is our advocate,

  420. and he is righteous,

  421. and he is also

  422. our sacrifice.

  423. So the basis

  424. for his plea

  425. as our advocate,

  426. when we sin,

  427. what's our hope?

  428. Is that Jesus,

  429. our righteous one,

  430. has completed

  431. God's plan

  432. of salvation

  433. by way of offering

  434. himself

  435. as a perfect sacrifice.

  436. We believe and trust

  437. that the judgment

  438. that should fall on us,

  439. the wrath of God

  440. that we deserve,

  441. has been diverted,

  442. been turned away from us,

  443. and it's fallen

  444. on the Son of God

  445. instead of on us.

  446. We believe and trust

  447. that in Jesus

  448. our sin

  449. is paid for.

  450. The substitute

  451. has taken the penalty

  452. for law-breaking.

  453. That as he says

  454. in verse 7,

  455. the blood of Jesus

  456. purifies

  457. from all sin.

  458. The effect

  459. of Jesus' cross work

  460. is that the stain

  461. of sin

  462. is cleansed

  463. for those

  464. who have him

  465. as our righteous

  466. advocate,

  467. who trust him

  468. as our sacrifice

  469. dealing with our sin.

  470. And so John

  471. presents this statement

  472. about Jesus

  473. inviting the church,

  474. inviting us to think,

  475. isn't Jesus

  476. a better answer

  477. to the problem of sin

  478. than denying it?

  479. Than being overconfident

  480. about our ability

  481. to overcome it?

  482. Isn't this a better answer

  483. than rejecting

  484. what is clearly true

  485. because we see it

  486. and we experience it

  487. and we feel sin's sadness

  488. and effects

  489. in our lives?

  490. It's the gospel.

  491. This is better.

  492. This is good news.

  493. It reveals how deep

  494. God's love is,

  495. how deep

  496. his grace

  497. is truly.

  498. God sees everything.

  499. God sees everything

  500. about us.

  501. God sees the sins

  502. that we try

  503. and hide

  504. from ourselves,

  505. the sins

  506. that we seek

  507. to hide

  508. from others

  509. and yet,

  510. when we are in Christ Jesus,

  511. he loves us.

  512. And because

  513. the penalty

  514. has been taken

  515. and because

  516. the righteous one

  517. has given himself,

  518. God can look at us

  519. and be as pleased

  520. with us

  521. as he is

  522. with his son,

  523. Jesus.

  524. When we are in Jesus,

  525. we can walk

  526. in fellowship

  527. with our God.

  528. The blood of Jesus

  529. really does

  530. cleanse us

  531. from our sins.

  532. And so the promise

  533. of verse 7

  534. is ours.

  535. If we walk

  536. in the light,

  537. as he is in the light,

  538. we have fellowship

  539. with one another.

  540. And remember,

  541. John has already said

  542. to have fellowship

  543. with one another.

  544. The foundation of that

  545. is having fellowship

  546. with God.

  547. So we can walk

  548. in the light,

  549. the light of truth.

  550. That for a local church,

  551. for a body

  552. of believers,

  553. we can be a fellowship

  554. honest about sin

  555. and honest

  556. about grace

  557. as we enjoy fellowship

  558. with the living God.

  559. And notice

  560. how John

  561. closes.

  562. He is the atoning

  563. sacrifice

  564. for our sins

  565. and not only

  566. for ours

  567. but also

  568. for the sins

  569. of the whole world.

  570. What is John

  571. saying

  572. about Jesus

  573. there?

  574. He is saying

  575. that because

  576. Jesus is

  577. the eternal

  578. Son of God,

  579. His sacrifice

  580. has eternal

  581. virtue

  582. and value

  583. so it is

  584. a sacrifice

  585. that is

  586. sufficient

  587. for the whole world.

  588. John

  589. is not

  590. saying

  591. that everybody

  592. in the world

  593. is going to be saved

  594. regardless of their

  595. response to Jesus

  596. but he is saying

  597. Jesus

  598. is a Savior

  599. big enough,

  600. great enough

  601. for everyone.

  602. So we can

  603. confidently share

  604. the gospel

  605. with anybody

  606. that we meet.

  607. We can say

  608. to them

  609. believe in the Lord

  610. Jesus

  611. and you will

  612. be saved

  613. and your sin

  614. will be

  615. forgiven.

  616. So the truth

  617. about Jesus

  618. the truth

  619. about sin

  620. the truth

  621. about salvation

  622. actually then

  623. fuels our

  624. mission

  625. gives us

  626. confidence

  627. in sharing

  628. the gospel.

  629. In the first

  630. century

  631. there were

  632. voices

  633. beginning to

  634. appear

  635. even within

  636. the church

  637. saying sin

  638. is no big

  639. deal.

  640. In the 21st

  641. century

  642. there are still

  643. plenty of voices

  644. even within

  645. the church

  646. saying sin

  647. is no big

  648. deal.

  649. That's primitive

  650. we're beyond

  651. all that.

  652. Holiness

  653. is optional.

  654. To believe

  655. that is to

  656. believe the lie.

  657. What we need

  658. is God's truth

  659. that holiness

  660. does matter.

  661. It matters

  662. to God

  663. it matters

  664. for our

  665. lives

  666. and because

  667. that is true

  668. the gospel

  669. is good news.

  670. It is God's

  671. real answer

  672. to our

  673. real problem

  674. and when

  675. we believe

  676. it

  677. that all

  678. our hope

  679. of forgiveness

  680. and being

  681. right with

  682. God

  683. rests in

  684. the Lord

  685. Jesus

  686. and his

  687. finished work

  688. then it

  689. gives us

  690. freedom.

  691. It gives us

  692. freedom to

  693. confess

  694. our sin

  695. with that

  696. assurance

  697. that we

  698. will be

  699. forgiven.

  700. It gives

  701. us the

  702. freedom

  703. even to

  704. communicate

  705. hard truths

  706. with a

  707. sense of

  708. hope

  709. hope.

  710. We can

  711. speak to

  712. people

  713. about

  714. the

  715. serious

  716. nature

  717. of

  718. sin

  719. and

  720. invite

  721. them

  722. to

  723. trust

  724. in

  725. Jesus

  726. with

  727. hope

  728. because

  729. the gospel

  730. is true

  731. and we

  732. have

  733. freedom

  734. as God's

  735. people

  736. to celebrate

  737. God's

  738. grace

  739. as we

  740. find it

  741. in the

  742. Lord

  743. Jesus.

  744. Let's

  745. pray

  746. together.

  747. Lord

  748. God

  749. we

  750. thank you

  751. that we

  752. come

  753. before

  754. the

  755. God

  756. who

  757. is

  758. light

  759. that

  760. there

  761. is

  762. no

  763. darkness

  764. in

  765. you

  766. whatsoever

  767. that

  768. you

  769. have

  770. not

  771. will

  772. not

  773. cannot

  774. sin

  775. co

  776. to

  777. sense
