  1. man.

  2. Thank you.

  3. Worship team.

  4. This is gonna be

  5. a really short

  6. sermon because this

  7. smells like chilly

  8. in this church.

  9. You know what

  10. I'm saying?

  11. Oh man.

  12. This is, uh, a very

  13. aromatic Sunday

  14. morning and, uh,

  15. highly motivational.

  16. I left Josh Murray

  17. in charge of the

  18. chili supervision.

  19. I don't know if that

  20. was a good idea or

  21. not, but he had a

  22. security shirt on,

  23. so I assumed that

  24. was a good choice.

  25. Oh, maybe not.

  26. Maybe not.

  27. Oh, well, it's great

  28. for, have you here

  29. this morning as we

  30. kind of wrap up this.

  31. Series that we've

  32. been talking about,

  33. practicing the way

  34. of Jesus, which has

  35. been really cool.

  36. Thinking about being

  37. apprentices of his,

  38. not just disciples

  39. who learn information

  40. about him, but

  41. rather people who

  42. practiced the ways

  43. of Jesus, right?

  44. To spend time with

  45. him, to become more

  46. and more like him

  47. and to do the things

  48. that he did in the

  49. lives of the people

  50. that he engaged with.

  51. That we'd be his

  52. hands and feet

  53. and Im, and impact

  54. people around us.

  55. What a, what a cool

  56. time it's been and as

  57. Dax started us off on

  58. this series, it's not

  59. a checklist of all

  60. the things that now

  61. make us the the right

  62. kind of apprentice or

  63. disciple, but rather

  64. it's kind of this

  65. building crescendo

  66. of hanging out with

  67. Jesus, being more

  68. and more like him

  69. in the way we live,

  70. to the point that

  71. we're transformed

  72. in the process.

  73. Just a really neat

  74. time, and I'm excited

  75. that it's really a

  76. springboard of where

  77. we're gonna continue

  78. to go as his church.

  79. And so as we

  80. jump in today.

  81. Last Sunday I teased

  82. it just a little bit.

  83. The last and final

  84. practice, this

  85. practice of witness.

  86. And we had a really

  87. great time of baptism.

  88. The kind of like,

  89. well let's be honest.

  90. It wasn't just

  91. baptism, it was also

  92. you guys sharing

  93. so many amazing

  94. things together

  95. that you hijacked

  96. the sermon time.

  97. So you guys know you

  98. did that and it was

  99. really fun to hear

  100. you guys witness to

  101. each other and to

  102. encourage each other,

  103. uh, with what your

  104. story and moments with

  105. the Lord and what he's

  106. doing in your life.

  107. And uh, that was

  108. probably better than

  109. what I was gonna say.

  110. So great job.

  111. Uh, and thanks this

  112. morning for a few

  113. minutes to preach.

  114. I appreciate that.

  115. And I will go quick

  116. 'cause the chili

  117. is starting to

  118. get really ripe.

  119. Man.

  120. It's good.

  121. I just wanna say

  122. that to Josh 'cause

  123. it's entertaining

  124. to watch your face

  125. a chili look so.

  126. Baptism.

  127. Prior to that, we

  128. had talked about the

  129. practice of service

  130. a couple weeks ago,

  131. and we talked a

  132. little bit about the

  133. idea of service to

  134. our faith community

  135. over the summer,

  136. but especially to

  137. our entire and whole

  138. community around us.

  139. In the last couple

  140. weeks here, as we've

  141. talked about service,

  142. I wanna do a little,

  143. uh, shout out from the

  144. sheep and the goats

  145. talk we did about

  146. Jesus saying, you

  147. know, I was hungry.

  148. I was thirsty, right?

  149. I was, I was

  150. a stranger.

  151. I was naked.

  152. You clothed me.

  153. I was sick.

  154. I was in prison.

  155. And what you did to

  156. the least of these

  157. people, you did to

  158. me what you did,

  159. for the least of my

  160. brethren, what you did

  161. for this person here

  162. who you had no idea.

  163. Who he was or if it

  164. even mattered you

  165. were doing that.

  166. Not for them,

  167. man, but you were

  168. doing it for me.

  169. And what an incredible

  170. act of service

  171. and love that was.

  172. And oftentimes we

  173. didn't even realize

  174. that we were impacting

  175. people for eternity

  176. by just a cup of

  177. cold water or an

  178. act of service.

  179. Well, I wanna give a

  180. little quick shout out

  181. to our, uh, preteens

  182. yesterday who were

  183. totally crushing

  184. it up in Arcadia.

  185. I don't know if I've

  186. ever seen people pack

  187. boxes so quickly.

  188. They were, uh, uh,

  189. an or angel's attic

  190. in Arcadia for just

  191. like a very short

  192. period of time.

  193. No Mountain Dew

  194. as you can hear in

  195. that testimonial.

  196. But in that time,

  197. they did 105 boxes

  198. in 45 minutes.

  199. So we should give

  200. 'em our applause, all

  201. of our preteen for

  202. crushing that really,

  203. really cool job.

  204. Really cool job, and

  205. thanks to all the moms

  206. and dads who were part

  207. of that, uh, really,

  208. really neat stuff.

  209. What a cool picture

  210. of that practice

  211. of service.

  212. And the week before

  213. that, we talked

  214. about generosity for

  215. just a few minutes.

  216. We had a lot of

  217. neat sharing in the

  218. last few weeks, but,

  219. uh, we talked about

  220. generosity, right?

  221. The idea of our hands

  222. being open to God

  223. and that everything

  224. we have is his,

  225. and that we lay it

  226. before him and we're

  227. not clenching our

  228. fist to God, holding

  229. onto our stuff,

  230. possessions, our time,

  231. energy, resource.

  232. But instead,

  233. everything we

  234. have is his.

  235. And we live

  236. with open arms.

  237. Well, here's what I

  238. think's kind of cool

  239. about the culmination

  240. of these practices.

  241. The idea of living

  242. a life of generosity

  243. that says, God,

  244. everything I

  245. have is yours.

  246. Everything.

  247. My hands are

  248. open to you.

  249. And a life that says,

  250. man, whoever you are,

  251. it doesn't matter.

  252. I'm gonna love you.

  253. I'm gonna try to take

  254. care of your needs

  255. and try to make a

  256. difference in your

  257. life and show you

  258. the love of Jesus.

  259. What's cool about

  260. these two practices

  261. as you live those out?

  262. What happens is they

  263. sort of just become

  264. your witness, right?

  265. You just start living

  266. out the love of Jesus

  267. to the people around

  268. you, and they see the

  269. love of Jesus in the

  270. way that you engage,

  271. the way that you serve

  272. in your conversation,

  273. in your interaction,

  274. all of it.

  275. Your witness really

  276. just takes shape

  277. right in front of

  278. 'em, and you have

  279. an opportunity to

  280. share the love of

  281. Jesus with them.

  282. Well, let's dive

  283. into this idea of

  284. witness here this

  285. morning a little bit.

  286. Acts chapter one,

  287. verse eight, passage

  288. that we know all

  289. too well, right?

  290. But you will

  291. receive power.

  292. Jesus says to his

  293. disciples, you'll

  294. receive power when

  295. the Holy Spirit comes

  296. on you, and you will

  297. be my witnesses in

  298. Jerusalem and in all

  299. Judea and Samaria,

  300. and to the ends of

  301. the earth, right?

  302. You're gonna be my

  303. witnesses right here

  304. where you're at, and

  305. then we're gonna have

  306. this awesome ripple

  307. effect outside of

  308. our region, outside

  309. of our country.

  310. All over the

  311. world, right?

  312. But it starts

  313. in that space.

  314. And maybe there's

  315. a little lesson

  316. there for us.

  317. Like we could be

  318. big about like, Hey,

  319. let's send money to

  320. some other place,

  321. or let's, you know,

  322. try to evangelize

  323. the lost people down

  324. in such and such.

  325. But man, what about

  326. our circle right here

  327. at our house, right?

  328. Right here

  329. in Jerusalem.

  330. And then begin to let

  331. that build and go.

  332. Don't neglect to

  333. be faithful where

  334. God's got you, right?

  335. And be a

  336. witness for him.

  337. And if you're not,

  338. I loved one of our

  339. missions board guys

  340. from a long time ago,

  341. talked about how if

  342. you're not reaching

  343. people with the story

  344. of Jesus and the good

  345. news, if you're not

  346. sharing your faith

  347. right now, right

  348. here, why in the world

  349. would we think if we

  350. spend thousands of

  351. dollars to send you

  352. to some other country

  353. as a missionary,

  354. that you're gonna

  355. do it there, right?

  356. It ought to be part

  357. of who we are, that

  358. we are witnesses, that

  359. we are just sharing

  360. the love of Jesus and

  361. sharing the good news.

  362. In all of our

  363. interactions with

  364. the people that

  365. we're at right here

  366. in our circle right

  367. now, and let that

  368. build from there.

  369. Well, this word

  370. witnesses is

  371. a cool word.

  372. Um, it actually in

  373. the Greek is from

  374. this word martus.

  375. And it sounds a

  376. lot like this word,

  377. Marty, which is

  378. actually where we

  379. get the word martyr.

  380. And if you know what

  381. a martyr is, it's

  382. someone who really

  383. dies for their faith.

  384. And every one of

  385. the disciples who

  386. heard Jesus say these

  387. words, when the Holy

  388. Spirit comes on you,

  389. you're gonna be my

  390. witnesses, my martus.

  391. You're gonna

  392. be my quite

  393. literally martyrs.

  394. You're gonna go all

  395. over the world and

  396. you're gonna share

  397. the good news, but

  398. you're gonna pay the

  399. ultimate price in this

  400. life of sacrificing

  401. just like I have.

  402. But you're gonna

  403. die for the gospel.

  404. It's what

  405. happened, right?

  406. History tells us

  407. every single one of

  408. the disciples died

  409. a martyr's death.

  410. Maybe John, if you

  411. consider an island

  412. exile, not to be

  413. a martyr, but he

  414. was there 'cause

  415. of his faith.

  416. I think it

  417. still counts.

  418. They all paid

  419. with their life.

  420. So Jesus says to his

  421. disciples, man, you're

  422. gonna be my martyrs.

  423. You're gonna be my

  424. witnesses now, is

  425. that what he's still

  426. saying today to us?

  427. That every single one

  428. of us are gonna go and

  429. share the good news

  430. and die for our faith?

  431. Well, there's

  432. absolutely places

  433. in the world

  434. right now where

  435. that's happening.

  436. Absolutely.

  437. There are absolutely

  438. people who are

  439. choosing faith

  440. in Jesus Christ

  441. and they're not

  442. hanging out at some

  443. awesome church with

  444. fancy laser light

  445. shows or in super

  446. air conditioned

  447. environment

  448. living the dream.

  449. Now they're, they're

  450. paying with their life

  451. to just be faithful

  452. to follow Christ.

  453. We talked about the,

  454. uh, international

  455. Day of the Persecuted

  456. Church a couple

  457. weeks ago, and just

  458. reminded of our

  459. brothers and sisters

  460. who are suffering and

  461. who are dying in so

  462. many places, and we

  463. were kind of humbled

  464. to think about their

  465. response to us was,

  466. not get us outta here,

  467. but rather pray that

  468. we'd stay strong,

  469. pray that we'd not

  470. give up, pray that

  471. we'd keep living out

  472. joy in the midst of

  473. this so that Jesus can

  474. be seen even in the

  475. midst of our suffering

  476. and hardship.

  477. Right?

  478. So as a follower

  479. of Jesus Christ, I

  480. mean, Jesus said some

  481. tough things like,

  482. take up your cross

  483. and follow me, right?

  484. Which is not like,

  485. get your cool coffee

  486. cup at the coffee

  487. bar and come sit

  488. and sing songs

  489. that rock with me.

  490. It's more like, pick

  491. up your electric

  492. chair or grab your

  493. lethal injection and

  494. follow me, right?

  495. Like it's a death

  496. sentence to be

  497. a follower of

  498. Jesus Christ.

  499. That was part of

  500. what the early

  501. church understood.

  502. Like it wasn't about

  503. this life, and it

  504. wasn't about my stuff.

  505. It was about laying

  506. down everything.

  507. Counting the cost

  508. to follow Jesus.

  509. And I wouldn't say

  510. to you that every

  511. single person who is

  512. a witness for Christ

  513. needs to be a martyr,

  514. but kind of shame

  515. on us that we try

  516. to quickly push that

  517. so far away that,

  518. uh, even thinking

  519. about the reality

  520. that is a little bit

  521. too uncomfortable

  522. or not something

  523. we're ready to really

  524. buy into, right?

  525. Are we really ready

  526. to allow this life

  527. and everything we

  528. have to be taken away

  529. for us from, from

  530. us for the sake of,

  531. uh, following Jesus?

  532. That's a fair

  533. question.

  534. We ought to

  535. ask, right?

  536. Am I willing to

  537. give it all up?

  538. Are those hands

  539. really wide open?

  540. Or maybe like just

  541. partially open or

  542. maybe just this

  543. fingers open to

  544. God a little bit.

  545. Thumbs up to God.

  546. What are we

  547. doing right?

  548. Uh, interesting.

  549. There's also some

  550. other stuff in the

  551. Greek here that helps

  552. us maybe unpack this

  553. word a little more.

  554. The witness, Martus is

  555. kind of tied to some

  556. legal picture of one

  557. who testifies, right?

  558. One who testifies.

  559. It's a legal picture

  560. of somebody sitting

  561. in court giving

  562. something we would

  563. call testimony.

  564. It's one of the

  565. reasons why in the

  566. church you'll hear

  567. things like, Hey,

  568. you should share

  569. your testimony.

  570. Or tonight, does

  571. anybody wanna share

  572. their testimony?

  573. And it sounds like

  574. an old fashioned

  575. weird term, and we're

  576. like, ah, what's

  577. he talking about?

  578. Right?

  579. But it's just simply

  580. who's willing to share

  581. a testimony to testify

  582. on behalf of who

  583. Jesus is and what he's

  584. done in your life.

  585. That's a picture.

  586. You will be my

  587. testifiers, you'll

  588. be my testimony

  589. givers in Jerusalem,

  590. Judea, Samaria, and

  591. to the uttermost

  592. parts of the earth.

  593. That's the call

  594. to the followers

  595. of Jesus Christ.

  596. In fact, I like to ask

  597. this question like,

  598. what's your testimony?

  599. What's your testimony?

  600. I grew up in

  601. the church.

  602. I was a super good

  603. kid for the most part.

  604. Not totally.

  605. My dad's in here,

  606. so mostly, um, but

  607. I used to really

  608. struggle when like

  609. those really good

  610. testimonies showed up.

  611. You know what I mean?

  612. You know the ones

  613. right, where the

  614. guys like, oh dude,

  615. I was doing drugs

  616. and I was having sex

  617. and I was in a rock

  618. and roll band all

  619. at the same time.

  620. It was a mess

  621. on skid row.

  622. Right?

  623. And then Jesus

  624. found me, man.

  625. I was totally

  626. transformed.

  627. And I remember being

  628. a teenager and sitting

  629. in church and being

  630. like, I'm such a

  631. Christian loser.

  632. God didn't save

  633. me from nothing.

  634. Right?

  635. Right.

  636. And what I've learned

  637. over the years in

  638. talking to more and

  639. more of those guys,

  640. almost to a person,

  641. they'll say to you,

  642. dude, I would trade

  643. with you in a second.

  644. In a second.

  645. Man, I have so much

  646. baggage and so much

  647. scarring and pain

  648. and issues that I

  649. carry with me that

  650. are just consequences

  651. of my actions

  652. and my choices.

  653. Thank God that he drug

  654. me outta that mess.

  655. But what I wouldn't

  656. give to have never

  657. walked in that

  658. garbage to start with.

  659. Wow, your testimony

  660. is awesome.

  661. I was glad they

  662. said that to me.

  663. Right?

  664. 'cause sometimes

  665. you just feel like

  666. maybe you're not

  667. that impressive

  668. a testimony.

  669. I was good.

  670. Keep being good.

  671. Ding.

  672. Right?

  673. That's not exciting.

  674. But man, it's a

  675. powerful testimony.

  676. Your testimony

  677. really is an account

  678. of what Jesus has

  679. done in your life.

  680. People often are

  681. like, well, I don't

  682. really have much

  683. of a testimony.

  684. You're like,

  685. yeah, you do, man.

  686. Your testimony

  687. is your story.

  688. It's your story

  689. about who Jesus is

  690. and what he's done.

  691. And every single

  692. one of us who

  693. know Jesus, have a

  694. relationship with

  695. Jesus, have a story

  696. to tell about it.

  697. Every one of us.

  698. Every one of us.

  699. And you might

  700. be like, well, I

  701. don't have a story.

  702. Fair.

  703. You might have

  704. a relationship

  705. with Jesus.

  706. That's a great place

  707. to pause and say,

  708. maybe I need to

  709. engage and initiate a

  710. relationship with this

  711. Jesus, this savior who

  712. forgives me for sin

  713. and cleanses me, gives

  714. me an opportunity to

  715. walk in righteous,

  716. experience life and

  717. hope and joy and the

  718. eternity with him.

  719. Yeah, I, I want that

  720. kind of thing, right?

  721. That can be the

  722. first page in

  723. your story, right?

  724. But some of you got

  725. pages of your story

  726. and you're like, ah,

  727. it's a lame book.

  728. Nobody wants

  729. to read it.

  730. Dude, even in a court

  731. of law testimony

  732. carries huge weight.

  733. You can condemn

  734. people to death

  735. by your testimony.

  736. How much more should

  737. God's people be

  738. pointing people

  739. to life and hope

  740. with the words

  741. of our testimony?

  742. What's your

  743. story with Jesus?

  744. What is it?

  745. Maybe we don't

  746. think about it.

  747. Maybe we think nobody

  748. wants to hear it.

  749. Maybe we think

  750. it doesn't matter

  751. if we share it.

  752. Jesus told us he was

  753. gonna give us power

  754. to the Holy Spirit,

  755. to be the people who

  756. tell the story and

  757. who witness to the

  758. world around him.

  759. I like this

  760. question too, 'cause

  761. it's just a mean

  762. preacher question.

  763. Are you sharing

  764. the gospel?

  765. Are you sharing

  766. the gospel?

  767. I mean, come on.

  768. It's hot in

  769. here, right?

  770. We turn on the

  771. heat for no reason,

  772. and then I have

  773. a flannel on.

  774. It's ridiculous.

  775. It's like a hot light.

  776. Are you sharing

  777. the gospel?

  778. Hey, let me encourage

  779. you, 'cause you might

  780. be like, uh, I need to

  781. go use the bathroom,

  782. get some coffee.

  783. We shut the

  784. coffee bar down.

  785. No escape.

  786. Are you sharing

  787. the gospel?

  788. Right?

  789. Here's what I

  790. want you to know.

  791. You are absolutely

  792. sharing a gospel.

  793. You're totally

  794. sharing a gospel.

  795. It might be the gospel

  796. of discouragement,

  797. hopelessness, despair.

  798. It might be the gospel

  799. of selfishness and

  800. personal ambition

  801. and possessions

  802. and materialism.

  803. It might be the

  804. gospel that this

  805. world spewing out on

  806. every kind of social

  807. and moral issue

  808. you can imagine.

  809. You're definitely

  810. sharing a gospel.

  811. You are.

  812. Are you sharing the

  813. gospel, the good news

  814. of Jesus and what

  815. he has come to do

  816. and save us from sin

  817. and cleanse us from

  818. unrighteousness and

  819. give us life and hope?

  820. Are you sharing

  821. the gospel?

  822. Who are you

  823. sharing it with?

  824. Man, I hate that

  825. phrase that the

  826. old posters used

  827. to have in my youth

  828. room as a kid.

  829. It was like, if

  830. you were put on

  831. trial for being a

  832. Christian, would there

  833. be enough evidence

  834. to convict you?

  835. Right?

  836. Oh, that has haunted

  837. me for my whole life.

  838. Right?

  839. Is there enough

  840. evidence that

  841. people will be

  842. like, Hey, that

  843. guy's a Christian,

  844. and be like, I

  845. didn't say anything

  846. about Jesus, right?

  847. No.

  848. See how you live.

  849. We're watching you.

  850. You're sharing

  851. the gospel.

  852. You are.

  853. Maybe a better

  854. question is

  855. what gospel are

  856. you sharing?

  857. Right?

  858. What gospel are

  859. you sharing?

  860. But I also like this

  861. mean part of the

  862. question, are you

  863. living the gospel?

  864. 'cause sometimes we're

  865. really good about

  866. lip service, right?

  867. And we can say all the

  868. things that you should

  869. say, like pray, read

  870. your Bible, right?

  871. Every Sunday,

  872. school answer In the

  873. history of the world.

  874. We might know a lot

  875. of stuff and say a

  876. lot of stuff, but are

  877. you living the gospel?

  878. And I could cheat,

  879. put that a up

  880. there again, right?

  881. 'cause you are living

  882. a gospel, right?

  883. You are.

  884. But are you living

  885. the gospel, right?

  886. Are you living out

  887. the love of Jesus,

  888. the message of hope

  889. and life in the way

  890. that you love the

  891. people around you?

  892. Communicate,

  893. interact, engage.

  894. Are you living

  895. the gospel?

  896. Jesus says this in

  897. Matthew five, he

  898. says, in the same way,

  899. let your light shine

  900. before others that

  901. they may see, right?

  902. That they may see

  903. your good deeds.

  904. Glorify your

  905. father in heaven.

  906. God wants us

  907. to be high

  908. visibility people.

  909. He wants us, like

  910. he says, man, you

  911. don't light a candle

  912. and stick it under a

  913. bush or under a bush.

  914. You probably don't

  915. do that either under

  916. a basket, right?

  917. I'm stick a candle

  918. under a bush.

  919. That'd be

  920. entertaining.

  921. Alright, so we don't

  922. light a candle and

  923. hide it, right?

  924. I was at uh, Costco

  925. the other day and I

  926. don't know if you guys

  927. are like looking for

  928. my Christmas present,

  929. but they have a 5,000

  930. lumen flashlight.

  931. I dunno if you've

  932. tried this.

  933. Do yourself a favor.

  934. Go into Costco and

  935. they got it in a

  936. white box in a stack.

  937. And if you just push

  938. the button to try it,

  939. it will blind you.

  940. Just the reflection

  941. off the white box.

  942. So you'll see

  943. spots for the

  944. next five minutes.

  945. It's super fun.

  946. Check it out.

  947. So 5,000 lumen, right?

  948. But that thing is

  949. made to be a beacon

  950. of light, right?

  951. High visibility,

  952. crazy high visibility.

  953. And do you know

  954. what's really cool

  955. when you take a

  956. real high visibility

  957. light outside?

  958. In the middle of like

  959. a noon kind of window

  960. and you shine it up

  961. towards the sun, you

  962. know what's cool?

  963. Nothing.

  964. There's nothing cool

  965. about it, right?

  966. Nothing.

  967. But when you shine it

  968. in the middle of the

  969. night up towards the

  970. moon and it looks like

  971. it makes it there with

  972. 5,000 lumens, right?

  973. It's bright and it is

  974. visible to everybody.

  975. And man, sometimes as

  976. the church we're like

  977. fussy and whiny when

  978. the world gets dark

  979. and the culture around

  980. us is a mess, dude,

  981. that's the opportunity

  982. to be even more

  983. visible with the love

  984. of God, to be able

  985. to shine that much

  986. brighter so people can

  987. see his love, right?

  988. Through what your

  989. good deeds, the

  990. way that you live.

  991. Not just what you

  992. say, but what you do.

  993. I'm in this really

  994. tough spot right now

  995. because I realize

  996. Jed is gonna start

  997. driving soon, and

  998. I realized that

  999. because Jamie told me

  1000. this the other day,

  1001. very passionately.

1002. We have a young driver

1003. in the car who is

  1004. watching everything

  1005. you do, right?

  1006. So for the next

  1007. year, Jed's not

  1008. allowed to ride with

1009. me, is what I think

  1010. the new rule is.

  1011. Um, something

  1012. like that.

  1013. Yeah.

  1014. I wish, I wish my kids

1015. and I wish all of you

  1016. would just listen to

1017. what I say and then

  1018. just ignore me the

  1019. rest of the time.

  1020. Right.

  1021. It's that stinking

  1022. living it out

  1023. stuff, right?

  1024. In this fallen

  1025. world where we don't

  1026. always do great

1027. or we get ahead of

  1028. ourselves or our

1029. flesh gets in the way.

  1030. But that's part

  1031. of it, man.

  1032. We're called to

  1033. try to not just

  1034. say things, but to

  1035. really live 'em out.

  1036. That our actions

  1037. follow what it is

  1038. that we say, right?

  1039. And that our

  1040. actions represent

  1041. who Jesus is.

  1042. That's part of this

  1043. whole apprentice

  1044. thing, right?

  1045. We hang out

  1046. with Jesus, we

  1047. learn about him.

  1048. We spend time with

  1049. him so we become

1050. more like him so that

  1051. the mannerisms and

  1052. the actions of our

  1053. lives actually start

  1054. to look a little

  1055. bit like Jesus.

1056. My mom used to tell

  1057. this story about

  1058. this very busy, very

  1059. busy businessman

  1060. who was walking

  1061. down the street in

1062. a large city, and he

  1063. was cruising along

1064. and he had to get

  1065. somewhere fast and

  1066. he wasn't paying

  1067. attention, and he

  1068. walked by this little

1069. kid who was doing a

  1070. puzzle on the ground.

  1071. And this man was

  1072. walking and walking

  1073. and walking and

  1074. cruising and paying

  1075. no attention.

  1076. And he kicked over

  1077. the puzzle and

  1078. almost tripped on

  1079. the little boy.

  1080. And everything went

  1081. flying everywhere.

  1082. And he had that

  1083. moment where he

  1084. was like, kid, are

  1085. you kidding me?

  1086. Right?

  1087. I'm very important.

  1088. I have very important

  1089. things to do.

1090. But he had prayed this

  1091. really weird prayer

  1092. in the morning and

  1093. he had said, Lord,

  1094. help people to see

  1095. Jesus in me today.

  1096. And he thought about

  1097. this prayer as he

  1098. stood looking at

  1099. this little boy who

1100. was in a little bit

  1101. of a teary face,

  1102. whether he had gotten

1103. need in the head, or

  1104. whether his puzzle

1105. was a mess or both.

  1106. Hard to tell.

1107. And the man put down

  1108. his briefcase and

1109. he got down on his

  1110. hands and knees with

1111. a little boy, and he

  1112. started to put the

  1113. pieces of the puzzle

  1114. together and wiped

  1115. the tears off the

  1116. little boy's face.

1117. And when he got to the

  1118. last piece together

1119. and they put it in.

  1120. The little boy looked

1121. up and he said, Mr.

  1122. Are you Jesus?

  1123. What a cool picture

  1124. of just trying to

  1125. love well and make

  1126. sure people see that

  1127. they matter, that

  1128. they're seen and

  1129. that they're loved.

  1130. 'cause guys,

  1131. God sees us.

  1132. He sees you and

  1133. he loves you.

  1134. And man, we get

  1135. run over in this

  1136. life, don't we?

  1137. And things don't

  1138. always go right and

  1139. things are a mess.

  1140. And sometimes

  1141. we're the kid, and

  1142. sometimes we're

  1143. the dude knocking

  1144. people over, right?

  1145. But man, God has

1146. called us to be people

  1147. who, our deeds, the

  1148. way we live, looks

  1149. like Jesus to the

  1150. people around us.

  1151. And you know what's

  1152. gonna happen when

  1153. they see that they're

  1154. gonna glorify our

  1155. Father in heaven.

  1156. And Peter encourages

  1157. us with these words.

  1158. I think this is

  1159. powerful, live such

  1160. good lives among the

  1161. pagans that though

  1162. they accuse you of

  1163. doing wrong, but they

  1164. may see your good

  1165. deeds glorify God on

1166. the day he visits us.

  1167. Super encouraging

  1168. words, and I want

  1169. you to hear this

  1170. though, they accuse

  1171. you of doing wrong.

  1172. There are so many

  1173. people who challenge

  1174. you, who push you,

  1175. who question you,

  1176. who attack you,

  1177. and who press you

  1178. on your faith.

1179. And most of the time

  1180. we only see them

  1181. as adversaries, as

  1182. enemies, and as people

1183. we have to deal with

  1184. and get through.

  1185. But man, listen

  1186. sometimes, not every

  1187. time and not every

  1188. person, but there

  1189. are some people who

  1190. are pushing as hard

  1191. as they can against

  1192. everything you

  1193. say and everything

  1194. you stand for.

  1195. 'cause they want

  1196. to know if maybe

  1197. there's a chance

  1198. that they're wrong.

  1199. That maybe there's a

  1200. chance that there's

  1201. real substance to

  1202. what you're saying

  1203. and you're not

1204. just all a bunch of

  1205. talk, but you really

  1206. know this Jesus.

  1207. And he's really real.

  1208. And he really gives

  1209. you the courage and

  1210. the strength to stand

  1211. and the determination

  1212. to overcome and

  1213. not give up.

  1214. And that your faith

  1215. isn't something that's

  1216. lacking substance, but

1217. that it is rooted in

  1218. this God of eternity

1219. that may or may not

  1220. really be real and

  1221. they don't know.

  1222. But man, they're

  1223. pushing hard against

  1224. it because they

  1225. don't trust it.

  1226. And they've seen so

  1227. many things go wrong,

  1228. and they've seen so

  1229. many of God's people

  1230. just throw in the

  1231. towel or quit, or

  1232. their deeds don't

  1233. match up to anything

1234. and they want to see

  1235. you fail, but they

  1236. desperately don't

1237. want to see you fail.

  1238. And sometimes as

  1239. Christians, we just

  1240. get mad and frustrated

  1241. and listen, we're

  1242. imperfect and we're

  1243. fallible, and we

  1244. gotta go to people

  1245. sometimes and say,

1246. Hey, I'm so sorry my

1247. flesh got in the way.

  1248. I made a

  1249. mistake there.

  1250. I please forgive me.

  1251. That's important

  1252. for people to see,

  1253. but people are

  1254. desperate to see

  1255. if Jesus is real.

1256. And so much of the

  1257. church has been

  1258. about looking one

1259. way on a Sunday and

  1260. then being something

  1261. totally different

1262. the rest of the week.

  1263. And man, God's called

1264. us to be a light

  1265. that shines in the

  1266. dark, that looks

  1267. different than the

  1268. darkness around us.

1269. And if we look like

  1270. the world around

  1271. us and everything's

  1272. the exact same

  1273. man, there's no

  1274. substance there that

  1275. draws anybody to

  1276. anything different.

1277. And if you cave and

1278. you give in and you

  1279. act like the world

  1280. does, you miss the

  1281. powerful opportunities

1282. to help people see who

  1283. Jesus is, even when

  1284. it's hard and when

  1285. doesn't go your way.

  1286. I remember watching

  1287. a lot of Christian

  1288. athletes who took

  1289. a stand for Christ.

  1290. Guys like Tim Tebow.

  1291. I remember thinking,

  1292. this dude is

  1293. gonna fall hard.

  1294. And I don't mean

  1295. like in his faith,

1296. but I just meant out

  1297. of the spotlight.

  1298. Because that guy

  1299. is standing up for

  1300. way too much truth.

  1301. He's, he's powerfully

  1302. living out a message

  1303. that is way, way

  1304. too committed

  1305. to Jesus Christ.

  1306. And I think Jesus

  1307. needs him to not

  1308. succeed in everything

  1309. in this life to

  1310. show people there's

  1311. more substance than

  1312. just when you're

  1313. an awesome football

  1314. player and everything

  1315. goes your way.

  1316. People don't care

  1317. when your life

  1318. is glamorous and

  1319. blessed and awesome.

  1320. They don't care.

  1321. But man, when things

1322. are hard and you stand

  1323. when things are hard

  1324. and you endure, when

  1325. you don't quit and

  1326. you don't give up

  1327. and you don't turn

  1328. on your faith even

  1329. when you could, man,

  1330. there is power there.

  1331. That is a witness.

  1332. God has called us

  1333. to live right, to

  1334. live this witness.

  1335. We are God's living

  1336. will and testimony,

  1337. if you will.

  1338. Sometimes we wanna sit

  1339. it out, man, don't.

1340. God has called us to

  1341. be his witnesses who

  1342. live out the gospel

  1343. of Jesus Christ, who

  1344. live out the good

1345. news that they see it

1346. right in what you say.

  1347. Absolutely.

  1348. There's no excuse to

1349. be silent or mute on

  1350. the most important

  1351. message that there is,

1352. but we ought to ensure

1353. that the way we live

  1354. is pointing people to

  1355. Jesus and encouraging

  1356. them and showing them

  1357. who he really is.

  1358. That I think is a

  1359. piece of the picture

  1360. of what it means

  1361. to be an apprentice

  1362. who's trying to be

  1363. a witness to the

  1364. world around us.

  1365. It's not about

  1366. winning arguments,

  1367. it's not about

  1368. winning converts.

  1369. It's about loving

  1370. people like crazy

  1371. and trying to walk

  1372. in authenticity

  1373. and genuineness.

  1374. A real relationship

  1375. with Jesus

  1376. really lived out.

  1377. It's one of the

  1378. things I love about

1379. you guys as a church.

  1380. We don't do pretty

  1381. and we don't do

  1382. fancy very well.

  1383. We might do chili

  1384. pretty well, I'm not

  1385. sure, but you guys

  1386. do authentic and

  1387. genuine really well.

1388. This is who we are.

  1389. This is who we're

  1390. gonna be, and

  1391. we're gonna try to

  1392. walk together as a

  1393. witness and a light

  1394. in Noblesville and

  1395. Hamilton County

  1396. and Indianapolis

  1397. and Indiana, and

  1398. the utmost parts of

  1399. the earth that they

  1400. might see the love

  1401. of Jesus lived out.

  1402. Lord Jesus, thank you

  1403. for your incredible

  1404. love for us.

  1405. Thank you for inviting

1406. us into a story with

  1407. you, a relationship.

  1408. Father, for anybody

  1409. here today who doesn't

  1410. know you, who doesn't

  1411. have a story with

  1412. you, God, I pray

  1413. this awesome preface

  1414. would lead them into

1415. a time with you here

  1416. where they would

  1417. just reach out and

1418. say, Jesus, I want to

  1419. know you, Lord, that

  1420. you would forgive

  1421. us for our sin.

  1422. You cleanse us from

  1423. all unrighteousness.

  1424. And that you would

  1425. help us to walk

  1426. in this awesome

  1427. experience of

  1428. witness and in

  1429. relationship with you.

  1430. Father, I pray that

  1431. you would help us

  1432. who have a story,

  1433. but we haven't been

  1434. very willing to

  1435. share it, and we've

  1436. allowed ourselves to

  1437. believe that nobody's

  1438. watching anyhow.

  1439. Lord, forgive us

  1440. for that willful

  1441. ignorance and any

  1442. laziness on our parts.

  1443. Lord, you called

  1444. your disciples

  1445. to be martyrs.

1446. Help us to at least,

  1447. at least be testifiers

  1448. to the world around

  1449. us about your goodness

  1450. and your love.

  1451. Help people see

  1452. Jesus in us.

  1453. And Lord, we commend

  1454. ourselves to that

1455. task and we thank you

  1456. for what you've been

  1457. doing, building us

1458. into a place to feel

1459. that and to own that

  1460. in our own hearts

  1461. and lives that we

  1462. might spill out into

  1463. everybody around us.

  1464. Thank you Lord.

1465. In your name I pray.

  1466. Amen.

1467. It's not the end of

  1468. the sermon because

1469. I need Ron and Eric

  1470. and Verla to come

  1471. join me as Derek

  1472. brings up a board.

  1473. Because one of the

  1474. things we're gonna

  1475. do here at White

  1476. Rock Fellowship is

  1477. something unorthodox.

  1478. 'cause that's our

  1479. orthodoxy, right?

  1480. So I'm gonna invite

  1481. these guys from the

  1482. mission board to

1483. come on up here on

  1484. the platform, if you

  1485. would, real quick.

  1486. And, uh, the missions

  1487. board's been talking

  1488. about this crazy

  1489. idea of, well, they

1490. didn't know it at the

1491. time, but it was the

  1492. practice of witness.

  1493. Wasn't it Verla?

  1494. Yes, it was.

  1495. Alright, so maybe

1496. you could let us know

  1497. about this crazy idea

  1498. and how it's gonna

1499. tie in to this witness

  1500. practice of ours.

  1501. The crazy idea kind

  1502. of started with maybe

  1503. giving turkeys out

  1504. for Christmas, but

  1505. then we decided that

1506. was gonna be a hassle

  1507. with freezing them.

  1508. Yeah.

  1509. Hold on real close.

  1510. So yeah, Verla

  1511. actually asked me

  1512. how many freezers

  1513. the church has.

1514. So we could give out

  1515. like 25 frozen turkeys

  1516. to people because the

  1517. missions board, this

  1518. is probably Eric's

  1519. idea, wanted you

1520. to go around with a

  1521. frozen Turkey in your

  1522. arms to everybody you

  1523. could find or, no,

  1524. not quite like that.

  1525. No.

  1526. We came up with

  1527. this hybrid version.

  1528. Yes, yes.

  1529. So then we

  1530. brainstormed and

  1531. talked to Andy and

  1532. we decided that to

1533. give a gift card of

  1534. $25 from Kroger's to

  1535. anyone that wants to

1536. pick one of these up,

1537. hand 'em to a friend

  1538. that's in need or

  1539. someone that could

  1540. use help right now.

  1541. If you have more

  1542. than one friend,

  1543. there's cards left.

  1544. Give 'em to

  1545. two friends.

  1546. So it's kind of a

  1547. way of paying it

  1548. forward from White

  1549. Rock to our community

  1550. and to our family.

  1551. So I'm gonna jump

  1552. in and hijack this

  1553. for one second.

1554. 'cause that was a very

  1555. nice presentation with

1556. no guilt or shame or

  1557. challenge that was

  1558. mean and harsh, which

  1559. is very unlike Verle.

  1560. Right?

  1561. Right.

  1562. Let's go.

  1563. Right Bomb.

  1564. No, no.

  1565. Hey, in all

  1566. seriousness, here's

  1567. the challenge.

  1568. We wanna invite every

  1569. family to take one

  1570. of these gift cards.

  1571. Every family, like one

  1572. per family, please.

1573. And if we need to

  1574. get more, we will.

1575. And we want you to

  1576. take this gift card.

  1577. You have what?

  1578. A week and a half

  1579. till Thanksgiving,

  1580. something like that.

  1581. You're probably gonna

1582. be at a grocery store.

  1583. You're probably gonna

  1584. be walking around

  1585. some other people who

  1586. are on this planet.

  1587. It's gonna

  1588. happen, right?

  1589. So keep this card

  1590. with you and pray

  1591. about how God wants

1592. you to show his love

  1593. to somebody who's not

  1594. part of our church.

  1595. Can't go across

  1596. the aisle and give

  1597. somebody a card

  1598. after church, right?

  1599. Not somebody who's

  1600. maybe even in your

  1601. family group, right?

  1602. If your family needs

  1603. help, help 'em.

  1604. This is about you

  1605. going out into the

  1606. highways and the

  1607. byways and everywhere

  1608. out there in the

  1609. world that you don't

  1610. even know what the

1611. plan is, but he does.

  1612. And take this card

1613. with you and when you

1614. feel like this is the

  1615. person or the family,

  1616. or the moment, God

1617. wants you to hand this

1618. to them and just say,

  1619. Jesus loves you, I

1620. want you to have this.

  1621. That's it.

  1622. Make sense?

  1623. So I'm not gonna,

  1624. I'm not gonna pretend

  1625. there's not gonna

  1626. be some weenie

  1627. families here, guys

  1628. who can't step up

  1629. to the challenge.

  1630. Alright?

  1631. Sorry.

  1632. Been funny if

  1633. Josh said it.

  1634. Yeah.

  1635. Hey, this is gonna

1636. be out in the back

  1637. entryway, but please,

  1638. prayerfully take one

1639. of these things and go

  1640. do some good, loving

  1641. some people with it.

  1642. What a easy

  1643. opportunity to

  1644. just hand some

  1645. love to somebody

  1646. and remind them

  1647. that God sees them

  1648. and he knows them.

  1649. And man, I

  1650. promise you.

  1651. The person who

  1652. receives that.

  1653. God's busy at work

  1654. in them right now,

  1655. and they're probably

  1656. standing at a place

  1657. in a moment where

  1658. they're thinking, God,

  1659. I don't even know.

  1660. I don't even know.

  1661. And I can't even

  1662. pray more than that.

  1663. And I don't even know

  1664. if you're listening

  1665. and you're gonna

1666. show up with a stupid

  1667. $25 Kroger card that

  1668. might change all

  1669. eternity, right?

  1670. I mean, come

  1671. on, church.

  1672. We gotta be able

  1673. to do that, right?

  1674. So make sure you

  1675. snag one of these.

  1676. If we need more,

  1677. we'll get more, right?

  1678. Yes.

  1679. Yes, we will.

  1680. All right.

1681. And you can thank all

  1682. these guys for coming

1683. up with a better idea

1684. than just giving you a

  1685. frozen Turkey to carry

  1686. around all next week

  1687. and a half, right?

  1688. Because that was

  1689. a great idea.

  1690. All right.

  1691. I'm gonna let you

  1692. guys sneak down that

  1693. direction and then

  1694. I'm gonna invite up,

  1695. uh, two guys that

  1696. are gonna help us.

  1697. Oh yeah.

  1698. I totally forgot.

  1699. I don't know if this

1700. is okay, but we we're

  1701. calling this the

  1702. Turkey testimony.

  1703. I didn't really

  1704. clear that name

  1705. with anybody,

  1706. but I liked it.

  1707. So, hey, uh, Josiah

1708. and Noah, if you guys

  1709. could sneak up here.

  1710. I've got a couple

  1711. guys that are

  1712. gonna help wrap up

  1713. our morning here.

  1714. Close us down

  1715. with some content

  1716. and information.

  1717. You can probably grab

  1718. another one of those

  1719. mics over there,

  1720. let you know about

  1721. some things that

  1722. you can be involved

  1723. in and plugged in.

  1724. And, uh, then I'm

1725. gonna step back up and

1726. give us the final info

  1727. on this chili tail.

  1728. Alright.

  1729. Oh wow.

  1730. Sorry.

  1731. Alright, so

  1732. here we are.

  1733. Announcements

  1734. at the end.

  1735. Try something new.

  1736. Let's have some fun.

  1737. Uh, first off, ba

  1738. bam is actually ba

  1739. bonfire tonight, uh,

  1740. at 6:30 PM Uh, I don't

1741. know where it is, but

  1742. Josh Hale is waving

  1743. his hand wildly.

  1744. Yeah, right there.

  1745. Um, if you are

  1746. a youth, go talk

  1747. to Josh Hale.

  1748. He'll tell you

  1749. where to go.

  1750. Bring chair and some,

  1751. uh, roaster sticks.

  1752. Okay.

  1753. Chair and roaster

  1754. sticks for anyone

  1755. online as well.

  1756. And we have updated

  1757. events, flyers,

  1758. which is pretty

  1759. exciting with new

  1760. holiday happenings.

  1761. Holiday happenings?

  1762. Yes, sir.

  1763. Oh no.

  1764. Okay.

  1765. Sorry.

  1766. I apologize.

  1767. We have the ladies

  1768. Friendsgiving

  1769. Wednesday, November

  1770. 20th at 6:30 PM We

  1771. really like 6:30 PM

  1772. here at White Rock.

  1773. It's one of our

  1774. favorite times.

1775. We will go over some

  1776. of our other favorite

  1777. times as well.

1778. Uh, but no, um, if you

  1779. are a male, I'm sorry

  1780. you're not invited.

  1781. This is for women.

  1782. Sadly, we don't get

1783. to be a part of it.

  1784. Oh man.

  1785. I know ladies, on

  1786. December 8th you're

  1787. gonna be taking some

  1788. tours of homes, so,

  1789. uh, you'll probably

1790. just be going out to

  1791. some houses and just.

  1792. Knocking on the

  1793. doors and just being

1794. like, Hey, let me in.

  1795. So that sounds

1796. like a lot of fun.

  1797. Good luck.

  1798. Yeah, I think we

  1799. should have a men's

  1800. tour of houses too.

  1801. I think that'd be fun.

  1802. Uh, mighty Moms

  1803. Group, Christmas

  1804. party for more women

  1805. and their children.

1806. Uh, this is at 6:00

1807. PM not six 30, um,

  1808. but it's Friday,

  1809. December 13th.

  1810. It's gonna have

  1811. gingerbread houses,

  1812. hot chocolate snacks,

  1813. and a Christmas movie.

  1814. I don't know what

  1815. movie yet, but

  1816. it's gonna be fun.

  1817. A lot of fun.

  1818. Renee Hancock

  1819. is who you need

  1820. to see for that.

  1821. I don't know if

  1822. she's here, so,

  1823. Nope, she's not here.

  1824. So Derek Hancock

  1825. is waving his hand

  1826. wildly find his

  1827. wife next week.

  1828. Parents night

  1829. out is back.

  1830. So on December 14th,

1831. you can drop your kids

  1832. off at Sunday school

  1833. from five 30 to 8:00

  1834. PM I don't know what

  1835. they'll be doing,

  1836. but they'll probably

  1837. be doing some stuff.

  1838. So you can have

  1839. a night out.

  1840. Oh yeah.

  1841. Date night or

  1842. just breathe.

  1843. Um, I think it's

  1844. time for you guys

  1845. to schedule some

  1846. fun into your

  1847. calendar and romance.

  1848. Teen winter camp.

1849. This is the fun part,

  1850. not the romance part.

  1851. I'm sorry.

  1852. Youth.

  1853. No.

  1854. Uh, this is January

  1855. 17th through 19th.

1856. This is all on our

  1857. updated flyer, so

  1858. you probably should

  1859. grab one of those.

  1860. Make notes,

  1861. put 'em into a

  1862. family calendar.

  1863. Do something.

  1864. 'cause you don't wanna

  1865. miss any of these.

1866. But no, this is the,

1867. this is the fun part.

  1868. Marriage or tree?

  1869. February.

  1870. Romance.

  1871. 14th through the 16th.

  1872. Josiah, it's November.

  1873. We still got time.

  1874. I know we can

  1875. make that.

  1876. I know.

  1877. We're hoping we're

  1878. gonna make it.

  1879. Hey, um, on a

  1880. more serious note,

  1881. thank you guys.

1882. Uh, next door we are

  1883. doing the, uh, we're

  1884. doing the operation

  1885. Christmas child boxes

  1886. with our kids group.

  1887. So we're making

  1888. tons and tons of

  1889. boxes in Tom's word.

  1890. He doesn't know how

  1891. many boxes we're gonna

  1892. make, but we're gonna

  1893. make enough of them.

  1894. We're gonna make

  1895. a lot of them.

  1896. Uh, yeah, I don't know

1897. how many, but you guys

  1898. have donated so much.

1899. I know there are tons

  1900. and tons of boxes

  1901. and we're gonna get a

  1902. final number later on.

  1903. Uh, I pretty sure

  1904. we can't get in

  1905. any more supplies,

  1906. but if you really

  1907. wanna give gifts to

  1908. kids for Christmas,

  1909. we're gonna find a

1910. way to do that too.

1911. And now getting to one

  1912. of the more important

  1913. slides that maybe

  1914. the most important

  1915. kid care packages.

  1916. Uh, I was just

  1917. informed that next

  1918. Sunday is the last,

  1919. uh, Sunday to be

  1920. able to, uh, fill

  1921. the bags up and

  1922. stuff like that.

  1923. So might be worth

  1924. getting some more

  1925. stuff in, I don't

  1926. know, but like,

  1927. in all honesty,

  1928. thank you guys.

  1929. That does mean a

1930. lot to all of us

  1931. that are at school.

  1932. It is really nice

  1933. to receive notes and

  1934. stuff from you guys.

1935. We love all of you.

  1936. Oh, my turn again.

  1937. Um, secret Families

  1938. of Hamilton County

  1939. is another big one

1940. that we like to do

  1941. around Christmas,

  1942. uh, Saturday,

  1943. December 14th.

  1944. Don't know what

  1945. time, uh, the youth

  1946. will shop and wrap

  1947. and deliver gifts.

  1948. And right now

  1949. our fundraising

  1950. is at a couple

  1951. hundred dollars.

  1952. Uh, we're trying to

1953. get up to a couple

  1954. thousand to try and

  1955. support some families.

  1956. So the more you

  1957. guys give, the more

  1958. we can support and

  1959. witness, and it's

  1960. another opportunity

1961. in which we can really

  1962. use generosity and

  1963. service to share

  1964. our testimony.

  1965. The moment we've

  1966. all been waiting

  1967. for the White Rock

  1968. chili tailgate.

  1969. Hey, uh, thank

  1970. you guys.

  1971. Appreciate you

  1972. helping out this

  1973. morning with this.

  1974. You're welcome.

  1975. Here's the deal,

  1976. we're gonna pray

  1977. and then here's the

  1978. plan so that you

  1979. know, outside in our

  1980. parking lot, we have

  1981. 10 moderately cleaned

  1982. out trucks, but we

  1983. have tablecloths.

  1984. And across the parking

  1985. lot you'll have

  1986. different potluck, uh,

  1987. not potluck, what do

  1988. you call those things?

  1989. Crock.

  1990. Crock pots.

  1991. Yep.

  1992. That's what

  1993. you call 'em.

  1994. Sitting on tailgates

  1995. with lots of different

  1996. chilies in them.

  1997. Also on the tailgates

  1998. will be cornbread,

  1999. spread out crackers

  2000. and cheese.

2001. As you make your way

  2002. out the double doors,

  2003. you'll see ushers who

  2004. will be handing you

2005. a plate ish kind of

  2006. thing, multiple holes

2007. in it so you can try

  2008. different chilies.

  2009. Uh, there are a

  2010. few cautionary,

  2011. uh, Springer's got

  2012. a little sign that

  2013. says, be careful,

  2014. you might die.

  2015. Scott Phillips, I

  2016. think, has a fire

  2017. extinguisher sitting

  2018. next to his, that's

  2019. a visual that helps.

  2020. So, uh, there's

  2021. a bunch of stuff

  2022. out there to

  2023. eat and enjoy.

  2024. There's also spoons,

  2025. napkins, all that

  2026. stuff at the tailgate.

  2027. This was a brain

  2028. brainchild of

  2029. our church board.

  2030. Seemed like a good

  2031. idea at the time,

  2032. which is usually

  2033. how things work

  2034. out for us here.

  2035. But, uh, relax,

  2036. enjoy, stand.

  2037. Please be careful when

  2038. you, uh, are driving

  2039. outta the parking lot.

  2040. Uh, too much chilly

  2041. before you drive.

2042. No, I mean, just be

  2043. careful of people

  2044. standing out there.

  2045. But, uh, we're gonna

  2046. have a great time.

  2047. There's a little

  2048. afternoon fellowship

  2049. of Chili on

  2050. the way out.

  2051. Thank you to everybody

  2052. who's been a part

  2053. of that and helped

  2054. cook and do all

  2055. those things and,

  2056. uh, we'll pray.

  2057. And I don't think

  2058. I'm, oh, there's a

  2059. gluten free truck.

  2060. I knew it was

  2061. missing something.

  2062. There's a gluten

  2063. free truck out there,

  2064. so this is like

  2065. a do it yourself.

  2066. This food truck

  2067. day at White Rock.

  2068. Literally pickups.

  2069. Let's break.

  2070. Don't cross.

  2071. Gluten free

  2072. chili because my

  2073. husband won't be

  2074. able to eat it.

  2075. Like don't touch

  2076. crackers or

  2077. anything to it.

  2078. Just be really

  2079. mindful.

  2080. Do not touch

  2081. the gluten-free

  2082. truck people.

  2083. If you are not

  2084. gluten-free.

  2085. Get away from Sarah's.

  2086. Okay?

  2087. We got it

  2088. in love.

  2089. In love.

  2090. All right, let's pray.

  2091. Here we go.

  2092. Lord, thank you so

  2093. much for this awesome

  2094. family, the chance to

  2095. share together today,

2096. to lift our voices to

2097. you, to open up your

2098. word a little bit and

2099. dig it as some truth,

  2100. to be encouraged and

  2101. challenged by your

  2102. spirit, and also

  2103. reminded how much

  2104. Lord that we're loved.

  2105. Thank you so much

  2106. for every person

  2107. who's a part of

  2108. this here today.

  2109. I pray that you'd

  2110. bless all those who've

  2111. worked hard in food

  2112. preparation and in

  2113. service, and Lord that

  2114. you'd bless this meal.

  2115. And, uh, Lord, just

  2116. the fellowship and

  2117. the time together.

  2118. Thank you so

  2119. much, Lord.

  2120. More than anything

  2121. that you invite us

  2122. into relationship

  2123. to be part of

  2124. your family.

  2125. Uh, man, so

  2126. incredible, your

  2127. love for us.

  2128. Thank you for it.

  2129. Please help us to

  2130. show that in the

  2131. way that we live

2132. and the way that we

  2133. talk to the people

  2134. around us this week.

  2135. In Jesus' name, amen.
