Thanksgiving Gratitude and Christmas Hope | December 1, 2024

I've got plenty to

be thankful for.

Actually, hoping

you would interrupt

my cool Christmas,

Thanksgiving

mashup and throw

the mic down.

It'd be awesome

all the way around.

You know what, they

I have read

this before.

I cannot help it

because Emmanuel, the

thing we celebrate

all of December,

guys, is God with us.

And we are not waiting

for him to come.

He has come, he has

died for us, and

we know who he is.

And so, um, I just, I

wanna read it to the

church again because

if it's not in your

brain, it needs to be

when we sing to him.

Um, this is

in Revelation,

uh, one 12.

I'm sorry.

We'll talk

about it later.

Yeah.

Sorry.

You don't need

to be sorry.

It's all good.

Yeah.

When I turned to

see who was speaking

to me, I saw seven

gold lampstand and

standing in the

middle of the lamp

stands with someone

like the son of man.

He was wearing a long

robe with a gold sash

across his chest.

His head and his hair

were white like wool

and as white as snow.

And his eyes were

like flames of fire.

His feet were like

polished bronze,

refined in the

furnace, and his

voice thundered like

mighty ocean waves.

He held seven stars

in his right hand

and a sharp two-edged

sword came from his

mouth and his face

was like the sun in

all its brilliance.

When I saw him, I

fell at his feet as

if I were dead, but

he laid his right

hand on me and said,

don't be afraid.

I am the first

and the last.

I am the living one.

I died.

But look, I am alive

forever and ever, and

I hold the keys of

death and the grave.

So a read your Bible

and know who this

king is, who came

as a baby, but he is

not a baby anymore

and he's with us.

And so yeah, he came

once as a little tiny,

yeah, vulnerable baby.

But when he comes

back, look out, right?

Because he comes back

as the ultimate king

of kings and Lord

of lords, and that

is who we worship.

Don't get too excited

about toddlers and

swaddling clothes

this Christmas.

Get a little excited

about who Jesus is.

Yes.

All right, here we go.

I gotta play this for

you because, uh, quite

honestly, we are in

a crazy weekend of

transition church.

We are a church that

is transitioning,

that's a bad word

to use today, right?

I get you.

Because we find

ourselves in the midst

of Christmas, right?

It's December 1st.

It's time.

And we didn't totally

deck out the stage

and all that for

Christmas just yet

because it's also

Thanksgiving weekend.

So we're really kind

of stuck, aren't we?

We want to be grateful

and thankful, but

some of us have eaten

too much Turkey and

we're just ashamed.

Others of us are

ready to move on

to the holiday,

fun and excitement

of Christmas.

But if we walk away

from gratitude and

Thanksgiving, we

might miss out on some

important stuff too.

So we're really in

a bit of a quandary.

So here at White

Rock, we're gonna

help you out this

morning we are gonna

combine the two.

And I'm gonna help

you, Lord willing,

transition from

Thanksgiving right

on into Christmas

and we're gonna hit

the ground running.

See how that works?

Probably not gonna

work out at all, but

it's fun to talk about

and take a shot at.

So if you missed last

Sunday, you missed the

big finale, totally

unintended of our

series on what it

looks like to be an

apprentice of Jesus.

We've talked about

discipleship and the

idea of practicing

as an apprentice of

Christ, being with

Jesus, doing the stuff

he did, becoming more

and more like him.

And as Susie

Alexander was here,

and I don't really

know what happened

exactly, there were

like kaleidoscopes

and butterflies

and it was very

psychedelic and fun.

And a lot of somebody

said like two a,

DHD people on the

platform is, it's

hard to follow.

But man, nobody

looked away last week.

Not even for a second.

It was great, but if

you missed that, you

wanna check that out.

That was a really

neat time and we are

gonna be praying, uh,

for Susie on that.

But we kinda wrapped

up this series, but

man, Lord willing.

Please don't put

discipleship,

apprenticeship in

Jesus in your back

pocket and move on

to the next thing.

Take it with you where

you go, because we

want to go into this

season and really

into every day the

rest of our lives,

thinking about being

apprentices for Jesus.

And we're gonna keep

that in front of us.

But I wanna transition

us in this holiday

weekend to a thought.

It's a little phrase.

It's kinda been

percolating in my

brain for a little

bit, which is usually

a dangerous thing.

I'll admit that.

But this phrase, don't

nod your head, Maria.

That wasn't helpful.

Okay.

You sitting right

next to Jamie.

So I had two people

nodding their head

that was really

problematic.

This phrase really

hit me a while back,

and I've been chewing

on it and thinking on

it and preying on it.

And I don't know

that I like it.

I don't know that I

live it, but I've just

been really mindful

that, man, this is

an important phrase.

And so like just a

dude who's on the

journey with you,

let me share this

phrase with you to

ponder this morning

as we were reflect

on Thanksgiving

and look into the

Christmasy New Year.

I have enough.

I have enough.

Now, don't mistake

this for what

Jamie said to me

recently, I've had

enough, totally

different phrase.

Totally different

phrase, right?

We're talking about

this phrase, I have

enough, and man,

I can't think of a

better weekend and

a better time to

just stop and live

in that phrase.

Right?

I have enough.

'cause if you're like

me and you have that

Amazon app, we've

been getting this

for like the last

two weeks, right?

Black Friday sale

today, right?

Crazy.

In fact, I went on my

phone to try to take

a snapshot of like,

you know, the 21st

to the 28th Black

Friday, which doesn't

even mathematically

make sense, but

when I pulled up my

phone yesterday, it

said Cyber Monday

is here on Saturday.

So I was like, what

the heck is going on?

It's like a

twilight zone of

marketing, right?

It's not cyber

Monday till tomorrow,

but we could shop

Cyber Monday like.

Last Thursday.

I don't know.

It's just craziness.

How much our culture

is telling you you

don't have enough and

you need more stuff.

Right.

Super proud of myself.

Super proud of myself.

It did help that

we were traveling

back from Tennessee.

We didn't go to a

single store the

entire Black Friday,

the single store.

That's pretty

impressive.

Except for the

Trump store down

in Tennessee.

It was really great.

You should

check it out.

But anyways, we went

to one of those.

So moving on Black

Friday, cyber Monday.

Craziness.

I knew I was gonna

get in trouble for

throwing that, Jamie.

Alright, lemme just

take you back to this

little phrase a second

to just chew on this.

You have enough?

I have enough.

I wanna unpack that

together with you just

a minute this morning.

Because this

isn't just a

simple phrase of

anti-marketing, right?

I'm not just trying to

combat all that you've

been bombarded with in

the last week, or as

you look ahead to the

next three weeks that

lead us to Christmas

plus four days.

That's scary

to think about.

We are gonna get

bombarded with all the

things that we need.

Right?

And we don't have,

I recently bought a

iPhone 15, finally

upgraded after like,

I don't know how many

years we actually

upgraded as a family.

Got this great

package, it

was amazing.

Brought 'em home.

Just kidding.

Before we brought

them home in the at

t store, we saw the

advertisement on

the commercial for

the iPhone 16 that

we now don't have.

As we were signing the

papers for the iPhone

15, you can't keep up.

You'll never have

enough to have

satisfaction in stuff

and in things and in

material stuff, right?

But in Jesus,

we have enough.

And I want to share

that with you this

morning and hopefully

get that in your

brains kind of

popping all Christmas

season and maybe even

reflecting on where

you've been this year

as you close out 2024.

'cause God

has been good.

So good.

If we go back to the

Hebrew, this word da.

In the Hebrew

for enough.

It, it is tied to

this word kind of

funny day, which

is interesting,

right day.

It, it also ties

to this idea of

sufficient right

sufficiency.

It will suffice.

It's enough, and I

don't know if you can

catch this, but Jesus

was a Hebrew and he

knew the Hebrew Bible

and the Hebrew culture

and the people.

And there's this

beautiful moment when

Jesus is teaching

his disciples how

we ought to pray.

And he says, Hey,

you should say this,

our father in heaven,

right relationship,

dad, father,

family, your name

is great Hollywood.

Be your name.

Your kingdom

come, your will

not mine be done.

And then he says

this, give us this

day our daily bread.

It's a picture

of enough.

It's a picture

of, I have enough,

I am sufficient

each day enough.

I love that

Jesus didn't

teach us to pray.

God give me everything

so I can stack it

up and store it

up and stay ahead

of the technology

curb or the auto

manufacturing curb,

or the cool new house

or the new whatever

I need, right?

He says, how

about today?

I am enough and

I'll meet your needs

according to my riches

in Christ Jesus today.

Enough.

What a cool picture

in the Hebrew, as

we look at that

word, sufficient.

Everything we need,

everything we need,

we find in Him.

And when we get into

the New Testament and

the Greek language,

this word AAO, has,

uh, a similar tie

in to the idea of

sufficient, but it

also ties in this

word content and.

Satisfied.

What an

anti-American word.

Satisfied.

Hey man, in sports, I

need to be the best.

I need to push

in money, in

relationship, in

status, in material,

possessions

and things.

I gotta keep pushing,

pushing, pushing.

Climb, climb, climb,

achieve, achieve,

achieve, achieve.

And there's this idea

in Christ that he's

enough and we can

find this crazy thing

called satisfaction.

Have you ever

bought a really

high ticket item?

Drove it off the

lot, locked the door.

Your new house

maybe paid for a

big trip, and then

you get that awesome

feeling that comes

with our culture.

It's a feeling

of satisfaction.

No, it's not actually.

It's a feeling of

buyer's remorse

that comes, right?

Because we know

there was a different

thing we could have

got, or the next new

thing's coming out.

Or maybe this isn't

everything we hoped

it would be because

here's the truth.

Nothing else

satisfies.

Nothing else

satisfies.

It's crazy.

But we keep chasing

and we keep chasing.

But man, Jesus offers

us satisfaction

and contentment.

I love this verse.

I don't know if

you've heard this

verse before.

Philippians four 13

people got it on like

on Eye black and they

got it on T-shirts

and you can buy every

single sport T-shirt

in America and you

can even get a cricket

shirt, I think too,

with this verse on

it that says, I can

do all things through

Christ who gives

me strength, blah.

Right.

You've got this ripped

muscle guy who's

like, I'm not eating

sugar and I'm working

out through Christ.

Well, I'm obviously

not doing a good

job of through

Christ on that one.

Let me just say that

the truth is this

verse gets abused and

used all the time,

but it's not wrong

I guess to say that

we can do all things

through Christ, but

check it out if we

like squeeze this

bad boy up a minute

and we add the first

couple verses before

it to give it just

a little more of the

context of that verse.

Check out what the

scripture says here.

It says this, I'm not

saying this 'cause I'm

in need for, I have

learned to be content.

Whatever the

circumstances I've

learned to be ArcHa,

aao, satisfied and

content, no matter

the circumstances.

What's the messaging

in our, our culture?

You know what?

Your TV is so nice.

It's so nice

and I think you

could probably

enjoy it, but.

Not as much as a

new one that's two

inches bigger and

a tiny bit sharper.

You're missing out.

You are, and

we're sad for you.

So we're gonna

take a hundred

bucks off this one.

And it's, it's

touching, right?

It gets me, sometimes

I tear up and

I'm like, Jamie,

look what they're

gonna do for us.

Right?

She's like, no, go

back to your black

and white anyways.

Um, your

circumstances, your

circumstances don't

dictate your level

of satisfaction.

Or maybe they

shouldn't dictate

your level of

satisfaction, right?

Paul says, your,

I have learned

to be content.

I know what it is to

be in need, to really

be desperate and need

God to just show up.

'cause I'm really

struggling and I

know what it is.

To have plenty by

definition, more than

enough, more than.

Enough.

I know what that is.

I have learned the

secret of being

content in every,

any situation.

Whether I'm well

fed or hungry,

whether I'm living in

plenty or I'm want.

And what is

that secret?

Well, that secret is

I can do all things

through Christ who

gives me strength.

I can do all things.

I can face all

circumstances through

Christ 'cause he's the

source of my strength

and contentment

and satisfaction.

And you never find

it in a boat or a car

or a house, or a job,

or a relationship,

you never will.

Not satisfaction,

not a deep sense of

contentment and peace

that the Prince of

Peace brings to us.

I have enough.

Through Christ,

I have enough.

In Christ, I

have enough.

If you are in Christ.

You have enough.

Nobody's

preaching that.

Nobody's even

mentioning that.

I don't even

know if anybody

even knows that.

I don't know if I

knew that in Christ,

you have enough now,

if you're not in

Christ, you don't

have a relationship

with Jesus and

you're chasing the

world and you're

trying to figure it

out, you're trying

to juggle it all.

I get it, man.

Confusion for sure.

Lack of stuffiness.

Yeah, for sure.

Right?

It's not a word.

Uh, but the reality

is, is that apart

from Jesus, you

don't know peace.

You don't know

satisfaction

and contentment.

You don't.

And you're gonna keep

chasing it, right?

You're gonna

keep chasing it.

I threw up a couple

categories I guess

here that I wanted

just to throw at you.

Um, 'cause I want you

to hear this church.

You have enough

financially,

you have enough.

Now, some of

you're like.

Heck no.

I don't have enough.

Andy, are you

kidding me?

And I would know

that you wanna walk

out right now, but

you can't 'cause

it'd be awkward.

'cause I'm gonna

totally call you out.

So just sit there

and listen to this

for one second.

Here's the truth.

Jesus promises to

meet all of your

needs according

to his riches

in Christ Jesus.

You absolutely

have enough.

If you don't

have enough.

There's one

of two things.

Jesus has been

unfaithful to you

and he has broken

his promise to

meet your needs.

Or you're being an

unfaithful steward

with what's He's, what

he's entrusted you

with and the provision

that he's given you.

And you've lost

sight of a need

versus a want.

And you've got

consumed with

self-indulgence and

self gratification

and stuff, right?

We have enough.

Our God owns

the cattle on

thousand Hills.

He can meet

every single need

that we have.

You have enough.

Financially, you do.

And let me say this,

you have enough.

With 90% of your

income, you might

not have enough with

a hundred percent.

Just so you know.

This could be crazy.

Check this out.

I hate math, but

this is the one

time I wanna use it.

I'm just kidding.

I hate division.

That's what

Jesus said.

But regular math, fine

percentages, right?

God says that we are

to give him 10% of

everything we have.

That 10% of everything

we have is a

tithe to the Lord.

And we're like, well,

I don't like that.

Agreed.

Agreed.

I don't think

that's good math.

Also agreed.

That doesn't make

the ledger work.

I'm with you a hundred

percent preaching

to the choir, right?

But here's

the problem.

The God of the

universe says to

me as his servant,

10% of what you

have belongs to me.

Bring it into the

storehouse of the

church, right?

Bring it in to the

priests, bring it

in so that my work

can be accomplished.

And if you do, I'm

gonna kick open the

doors of heaven and

flood you with so much

blessing, you won't

be able to contain it.

But what we do is we

say, well, God, the

blessing of heaven

and the provision

of heaven sounds

great, but this

extra 10% that's mine

that I'm gonna hold

onto, it's really

gonna get me there.

And listen, this is

where I say I'm not

a good math guy, but

10% of whatever the

heck you make compared

to the treasury of

the King of Kings

and Lord of Lords,

that's a pittance.

Guys.

It's nothing.

And Jesus doesn't

need your money.

He doesn't even

really want your

money, right?

It's just Matthew's

gotta work out

to get to where

it needs to go.

He wants your heart

and he knows that

you'll give him a

hundred percent of

everything except

your checkbook.

But man, listen,

90% with God is way

more than a hundred

percent without him.

Ridiculously more.

And you have enough,

are you being a

faithful steward with

what he's given you?

Are you trusting him?

Now listen, I've

worked a lot of

jobs in my life.

I've been through

a lot of struggles

and challenges.

The tithing is

something Jamie

and I always did

no matter what.

And it's comical.

'cause sometimes we'll

be like, well, you

know, what about that

whole gross net thing?

And this was already

a tax refund.

So we already

technically, and she's

like, you're gonna

try to outgive God,

their smarty pants?

And I'm like,

no, no, whatever.

Everything that comes

in our house, 10% of

it goes away to him.

Period.

Period.

It's non-negotiable.

And let me just say to

you, I can look back

over the ledger of

Andy and Jamie's life

and I can tell you

there is no financial,

mathematical,

or probably

even emotionally

psychological way.

We should have

made it at multiple

points in time.

But at every point

in time, God showed

up and made up for

far more than the

10% that was lacking.

He is enough.

God's good because he

challenges us to trust

him in this area of

finance to say, God,

10% of everything

have is yours.

And man, I would

challenge you, if

you try to chase that

10%, hold onto that

10%, he will step

back and he will say,

I want you to learn

because I love you.

And you will learn

and it will hurt.

It's not easy walking

in faith man, but with

Jesus we can trust

him with our finances

and our resources.

You have enough and

material possessions.

You have enough, you

got enough stuff.

We do this clothing

giveaway twice a

year and we pack this

church out with so

much crap that we

can't sell to people

'cause our houses are

full of so much crap.

I, I, sorry.

Our houses are filled

with so much crap.

I'm not calling

you out.

Uh, I can't get into

my garage and I'd love

to get into my garage.

It's cold

outside, right?

We got so much stuff,

way more than we

need, and we're not

listening to our

Heavenly Father who

says, I got you.

You don't need that

new thing, or that

other thing, or more

of those things.

You have enough.

You have enough.

And he meets all

of our needs.

And man, I challenge

you to really have an

honest inventory as

a family on your once

versus your needs.

And what is it

that we're chasing

after and why?

'cause man, listen,

there is nothing

wrong with financial

success and, and

growth and provision.

There's nothing wrong

with making money, but

the motivation behind

it is obedience to

Christ and to try to

further his kingdom.

Cha-ching.

Further your kingdom

and obedience

to your flesh.

Not Chaching, right?

Not the cool and not

what God calls us to

material possessions.

There's nothing wrong

with having things

and having possessions

that we steward,

but guys don't

forget, a steward

doesn't own anything.

Nothing.

You don't

have anything.

You're gonna

figure that out.

When you're laying

in this six foot box

and you're getting

ready to go to

eternity and you dig

in your pockets for

your stuff, you're

not getting buried

with your wallet or

your credit card.

You're not getting

buried with anything.

In fact, the flesh is

gonna stay here too.

We don't own anything.

You're a steward

of everything God's

entrusted to you,

your finances, your

material possessions,

and guys, your

success and your

status in this life.

You have enough.

I.

We chase it, we

compromise on, on

integrity and on

spiritual obedience

and all kinds of

things to try to

get more likes and

more views and more

popular and more

impact and more status

and climb ladders.

And I'm not saying

to you that we should

have less influence

or we shouldn't

try to achieve

success or work

hard to be diligent.

Not at all.

But we're supposed

to stay away from

selfish ambition and

conceit and chasing

the things of this

life to gratify

the sinful nature.

If you're trying

to achieve success

at work to try to

have a bigger impact

for the kingdom of

God, that's awesome.

If you're trying to

get more impact on

your social media

site because you

want to change the

world for Jesus

Christ, super cool.

Is that what your

motivation is?

Really?

Are you satisfied

with what God has

entrusted you and

where he's entrusted

you to stand?

And you know, I'm

gonna throw this

one in just for

fun relationally.

'cause here's

the thing.

Sometimes we get

caught up in this

world looking beyond

the relationship that

God's placed us in.

Scripture says that

God places us in

families and we live

in these relationships

and we can get tired

of those relationships

and we can get annoyed

by those relationships

and we can start

to look at other

relationships and

have covetousness in

our heart to desire

something different

or to look to be

more satisfied in a

different relationship

or more content.

If I had a different

wife or a different

husband, or if I

could get out of

this relationship

and man, listen,

plan B is terrible

and it's always

worse than plan A.

And no matter how hard

plan A is that God's

brought you together,

you keep grinding

and you keep working

and you keep pressing

forward and listen,

here's the trick

to relationships.

If you're not enough

without somebody

else, just you and

Jesus, you're never

gonna find completion

and wholeness in a

human relationship

with somebody else.

All the time I talk to

young people who are

like, they complete

me, and I'm like, they

completely mess you

up, is what happens

because you are not

complete in Christ.

Do you know what's

really cool?

You got this dude

who's loving Jesus and

trying to follow Jesus

with all of his heart

and different gender.

You got this girl who

is loving Jesus and

hardcore committed to

him no matter what,

and when God brings

those two people

together, not because

they need each other,

but because God has

brought them together

and they desire

to walk in unity

and relationship.

Oh, that's

powerful and cool.

You know what's not

cool is when somebody

has an empty cavity

in their own heart and

they're desperately

trying to fill it

with somebody else

or something else.

Jesus is enough.

Jesus is enough

for you to stand,

to endure, to be

faithful, right?

And I'm not saying

we don't go into

new relationships

and we don't pursue

new relationships.

We absolutely don't

pursue 'em outside

of the bounds of

God's design for

covenant marriage.

There's no no

way that works.

But some of us

are trying to find

Jesus in somebody

else instead of

being enough in our

relationship with

the King of Kings

and Lord of Lords.

And if he brings

somebody into

our life, sweet.

But if not, still

all walk in obedience

and faithfulness

to you, Lord.

'cause you are enough

and maybe ultimately

spiritually.

And there's

probably tons of

other categories,

but spiritually

he's enough.

We have enough,

actually, that's

a total lie.

Sorry.

We have beyond

imagination.

More than

enough, right?

Eternally.

To say we have enough

in Christ is stupid.

'cause check this

out, over in one

Corinthians two,

nine, it says it in

the most perfect way.

For those of us

who are in Christ

in this life,

you're gonna have

trouble and hardship

and difficulty.

Jesus says, take heart

of overcome the world.

There's gonna

be suffering.

There's gonna

be challenges.

There's gonna be

denial of the flesh.

Yep.

Not fun, none of it.

Totally agree.

Hard stuff, right?

Oh, but eternity.

Check this out.

Scripture says, no.

I has seen, no one

has seen, no one

has perceived, no

one has visualized,

no ear has heard,

nobody's said it.

Cool enough,

descriptive

enough that it

even comes close.

And no mind has

imagined, has

fathomed, and

we're good at

imagining, right?

No one has imagined

what God has

prepared for those

who love him.

No idea.

I love to tell

students, Hey, picture

the most amazing

stuff in this life.

I mean, the best

doesn't even make

it into heaven.

That's a bummer, huh?

It's not good enough

to get into what

God has prepared for

those who love him.

We have enough in

Christ our eternity,

our eternal reward

and destination

is ridiculous.

We don't have words

to describe how

ridiculous it is in

comparison to what

we walk through

in this life.

I like this version.

You ain't seen

nothing yet.

It's pretty good,

accurate kind

of drop, right?

You have no idea

the magnitude of

what awaits in

eternity for those

who are in Christ.

I'm gonna have Josiah

come join me up here

for just a minute

'cause uh, my son.

Has this bad habit

of coming home

from college and

bringing a guitar

and singing songs.

And I'm like, dude,

that's pretty cool.

Yeah.

What about

this one dad?

Oh, that's

pretty cool.

And then pretty soon

you find yourself in

a Sunday morning where

your dad's like, Hey

man, don't you grab

that guitar and come

up here a second, and

you get to do a song

for the whole church.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Are you grateful?

Oh, good.

Good.

I'll bet you are.

I'll bet you are.

Well, I heard this

song a few weeks,

well, no, probably a

few months ago that

Josiah started playing

and I was like, dude,

what a, what a great

statement of gratitude

and Thanksgiving.

We gotta do this on

Thanksgiving weekend.

And then Rusty and

I talked about it a

little bit and then,

uh, just kind of

decided why shouldn't

I have my son do it?

Right.

That's just,

that's what a

good dad would do.

Drag his kid up there.

Good deal.

You're welcome, son.

So I want you to

hear the words

of this song.

So counting my

blessings, and as

Josiah sings this

song, I'm gonna

put these lyrics

up so you can kind

of enjoy what's

going on with this.

But I want you to

think about this

truth, that you have

enough, you have

more than enough in

every area of your

life that feels

lacking, that the

enemy whispers lies

and deception to you.

You have

enough 'cause.

You're in relationship

with the King of Kings

and Lord of Lords.

And guys, I don't

think we have any

idea that one day

we're gonna know

each other even as

we're known, but

we're gonna stand in

eternity with Jesus.

Not you and your

wife, and your kids,

and your family and

your grandparents.

You are you,

you and Jesus.

And you're gonna

be like, whoa, this

is, this is beyond

imagination that

I'm here with you.

We have so much to be

grateful for that he's

doing in our life.

You have anything you

wanna say before you?

Uh.

I have enough.

What a cool song

and picture that if

we began to counter

blessings, right.

And think of all

that God has done.

We totally run

outta time.

Never get there.

And I love

this statement.

The more that I look

and the details, the

more I pay attention

to the moments and

the little things and

the little ways that

you're at work in my

life, Lord, the more

of your goodness.

I see guys, we

have been blessed

ridiculously beyond

measure in Christ.

We have everything

necessary, everything

we need, and even

abundantly more.

And the devil is gonna

constantly tell us

to look away from the

cross and look away

from life and hope

and Christ to stare

at the stupid stuff

of this earth that

burns and is gone.

And we'll trade

the treasure of

eternity for the junk

of the temporary.

And it'll all be at

some church giveaway.

Along with our soul,

if we don't lock

into the truth that

Jesus is enough.

This season that we

move into normally

on the first Sunday

of December, we

start to reflect

on advent, right?

A season of

preparation.

And I promised you

a tiny transition.

And here it is because

of who we are in

Christ, because of

who He is in us.

Because we

have enough.

This Christmas season

is a season filled to

the brim with hope.

Our hope is not in

our circumstances for

we have learned to

be our Kao content

satisfied no matter

the circumstances

of our life.

'cause that's not

where satisfaction

comes from.

It comes from the

Prince of Peace,

the God who doesn't

bring us hope.

The God who is hope.

Lord Jesus, thank you

for your incredible

love for us.

Thank you for the

blessings, for

the provision, for

the faithfulness.

God forgive us for

living as though

we are lacking.

Forgive us for

chasing after so

many things to change

our circumstances.

You are enough.

And God, I pray

for everyone here

this morning and

people tuning in

sick all over town

and gone on this

Thanksgiving weekend.

Lord, I pray that

right where they're

at, you would speak

to them, that you

are enough for

whatever they face,

for wherever they're

called to stand

and whatever they

have to endure.

Lord, that anxiety

and fear and worry

would be obliterated

in the truth.

That you are enough.

Lord, our hope this

Christmas season and

far beyond is all

in Christ in you.

And I pray you

to make that real

in a powerful way

for each of us.

In Jesus' name, amen.
