  1. Well, technically,

  2. 1, 2, 3.

  3. Hello, hello.

  4. Hello.

  5. Hello.

  6. Hello.

  7. Hello, hello.

  8. Hey.

  9. 2025.

  10. Same microphone

  11. issues.

  12. All right.

  13. Hey, so in

  14. the year 25.

  15. 25, yes.

  16. Tell you what, man.

  17. I know, I know.

  18. Stan, thanks

  19. for ruining it

  20. with math today.

  21. I appreciate that.

  22. Here's the problem.

  23. I don't plan on being

  24. here in 25, 25, if

  25. you know what I mean.

  26. So how to sort of

  27. steal this 25, 25 song

  28. for our 2025 kickoff,

  29. the year vibe right?

  30. Now, here's

  31. the problem.

  32. If you've listened

  33. to that song,

  34. there's some scary

  35. stuff in that

  36. song, isn't there?

  37. Man, it came out

  38. in 1969, wasn't

  39. there either, just

  40. for the record.

  41. And in 1969, that

  42. song talked about a

  43. lot of scary stuff

  44. coming down the road.

  45. And the first of

  46. the 25, 25, 35,

  47. 35, 45, 45 was 25.

  48. 25.

  49. But I gotta be honest,

  50. sitting here at 2025,

  51. it feels a little bit

  52. like a sci-fi reality

  53. in some ways for me.

  54. Some of you probably

  55. weren't born before

  56. the two thousands,

  57. and for you, it

  58. just seems like.

  59. Yeah.

  60. Year 25, this is

  61. easy math, right?

  62. Makes sense.

  63. But for those of us

  64. who were born way back

  65. in the 19 hundreds,

  66. 2025 just seems weird.

  67. Just seems weird.

  68. But do you notice this

  69. that year after year?

  70. They just keep

  71. coming these years.

  72. Do you notice that

  73. they just, they

  74. just keep coming

  75. year after year.

  76. And the funny thing

  77. about a new year, I

  78. mean this, lemme just

  79. say this real quick.

  80. Props to you

  81. guys because you

  82. currently have

  83. perfect attendance

  84. this year at church.

  85. That's pretty

  86. impressive, right?

  87. I was watching all

  88. those, uh, church

  89. closings going across

  90. my football screen

  91. last night, you know?

  92. And I was like,

  93. well, uh, we'll

  94. see if anybody

  95. braves it today.

  96. And it looks pretty

  97. nice out there

  98. right now, but.

  99. We'll see.

  100. I'm actually gonna

  101. the Colts game

  102. right after this.

  103. Just so you know.

  104. Some folks bought

  105. us tickets, probably

  106. could have got 'em

  107. free this afternoon,

  108. but bought us tickets,

  109. boys and I to go see

  110. the Jags, which is why

  111. I'm decked out like

  112. this 'cause I have to

  113. make a very fast trip.

  114. And then, uh, you

  115. know, I would covet

  116. your prayers driving

  117. through the snow

  118. coming home, all one

  119. and a half inches

  120. we'll probably get.

  121. So, at any rate, a

  122. lot of anxiety for us

  123. and a lot of fronts.

  124. Not so much at the

  125. Colts game today, I'll

  126. be honest 'cause I

  127. need the Jags to win.

  128. But 2025.

  129. How many of you guys

  130. would say like going

  131. into this year, you

  132. feel exhilaration,

  133. excitement?

  134. Okay, how many

  135. of you this I

  136. just got engaged.

  137. John, you better

  138. say yes, right?

  139. Like worst year ever.

  140. Oh, awkward.

  141. How many of you would

  142. say a little bit of

  143. maybe apprehension

  144. or sort of like, uh.

  145. Yeah.

  146. How many of you're

  147. like, just pretending

  148. like it didn't happen?

  149. Okay.

  150. Got you, got you.

  151. I've become a bit

  152. of a ologist lately.

  153. I don't know why.

  154. Maybe it's just

  155. boredom over Christmas

  156. windows, but, uh,

  157. some memes that really

  158. have been speaking

  159. to my heart, you

  160. know, like, like this

  161. one, nobody claimed

  162. 2025 as your year.

  163. We're all gonna

  164. walk in real slow.

  165. Be good, be quiet,

  166. don't touch anything.

  167. That's like a,

  168. it's a good space.

  169. You know, we've had

  170. some years where we

  171. anticipated great and

  172. amazing things and

  173. faced some hardships.

  174. Maybe some of the

  175. times, some good

  176. things snuck in.

  177. I don't know.

  178. But it's a little

  179. bit of, a little

  180. bit of a season for

  181. people that, that

  182. creates anxiety.

  183. I think I love this

  184. little journal entry.

  185. Somebody wrote.

  186. Honestly, I don't

  187. think I want a new

  188. year this year.

  189. I would rather have

  190. a gently used year,

  191. like 2006 or maybe

  192. a 1998 if it's in

  193. good condition.

  194. Like that's a

  195. nice, that's a

  196. nice vibe, right?

  197. No matter who you

  198. are, when you stand

  199. on the precipice of

  200. a brand new year.

  201. There's a little bit

  202. of unknown and an

  203. anxiety that's part

  204. of that and, and I

  205. think that's okay to

  206. look ahead and be a

  207. little bit like not

  208. sure what's coming.

  209. In fact, if we knew

  210. what was coming

  211. on every front,

  212. we probably either

  213. wouldn't go or we'd

  214. be pretty miserable

  215. in the experience.

  216. Right.

  217. And I wanna encourage

  218. you that 2025 is not

  219. a, a shocker to God.

  220. I love this

  221. about our God.

  222. God doesn't experience

  223. surprise and shock.

  224. Now, poor God that

  225. he doesn't get to

  226. experience that.

  227. Right?

  228. I keep trying.

  229. I'm like, Hey God,

  230. you didn't see me

  231. doing that dumb

  232. thing, did you?

  233. Right.

  234. I keep trying to

  235. surprise him, but

  236. he knows, right?

  237. He lives in eternity

  238. and he sees and he

  239. knows, and there is a

  240. measure, I think for

  241. those of us who face

  242. a little anxiety and

  243. worry about the New

  244. Year, to just know

  245. God's already in 2025.

  246. He already knows

  247. every detail of 2025.

  248. He is not gonna

  249. be caught off

  250. guard by anything.

  251. Also on the other

  252. hand, maybe a little

  253. different, right?

  254. But we have a sense

  255. of peace and trust,

  256. just knowing, hey,

  257. God's, God's got

  258. this, so lemme stick

  259. close to the guy who's

  260. navigated 2025 before.

  261. Maybe there's some

  262. wisdom in that.

  263. Now, I don't know

  264. if you're like most

  265. of Americans who

  266. decide when you

  267. start a new year,

  268. it's important to

  269. set up some of those

  270. resolutions, right?

  271. Like, I have a

  272. resolution, which

  273. means I resolve,

  274. which means I'm way

  275. more serious than

  276. if I just said I was

  277. gonna do it right?

  278. Just that little

  279. resolve word, it

  280. just feels like

  281. serious this time.

  282. Um, anybody do

  283. a New Year's

  284. resolution this year?

  285. Anybody kind of make a

  286. little goal objective?

  287. Great.

  288. Anybody disenchanted

  289. with a, did you,

  290. are you familiar

  291. with Quitters Day?

  292. I learned about

  293. Quitters Day, like

  294. was it second Saturday

  295. in January, right?

  296. I love it.

  297. So, uh, check

  298. these memes out.

  299. My New Year's

  300. resolution to keep

  301. it simple as this.

  302. I wanna remember

  303. to write 2025

  304. instead of 2024.

  305. And if I do that, if

  306. I hereby resolve to

  307. see, no, uh, I love

  308. this guy's comment.

  309. I screwed up

  310. already 2026 my year

  311. for sure, right?

  312. Like, eh, yeah,

  313. it's pretty tough.

  314. It's pretty tough

  315. to, uh, hit all

  316. of the targets.

  317. In fact, Jed reminded

  318. me on New Year's Day

  319. that 2024 was what

  320. the year of the chisel

  321. just missed.

  322. It just missed getting

  323. all chiseled in 2024.

  324. Um, so obviously 2025

  325. is my year for sure,

  326. except I'm already a

  327. little behind on that.

  328. So I don't know if

  329. you can think back

  330. to last year some

  331. of the things you

  332. said you were gonna

  333. maybe do in 2024.

  334. I don't know.

  335. I can't remember

  336. honestly.

  337. I honestly either.

  338. Interesting stuff.

  339. Well, regardless,

  340. here we are guys 2025

  341. and we have a new

  342. year ahead of us and

  343. God's present in it.

  344. And I don't know,

  345. I like to kind of

  346. pick a word at the

  347. beginning of the year.

  348. That I kinda like

  349. chew on for the

  350. first few months

  351. maybe, and maybe

  352. the whole year and

  353. maybe like the first

  354. week, I don't know.

  355. But, um, I've been

  356. thinking about this

  357. a lot and I wanna

  358. share it with you.

  359. It's not a resolution,

  360. it might just be a

  361. good idea, but it's

  362. this stretching now

  363. before you're like,

  364. you went from the

  365. year of chiseled to

  366. just stretch old man.

  367. Just stretch.

  368. Right?

  369. I can appreciate where

  370. you're at and I'm,

  371. you're not wrong.

  372. Just how about, and

  373. I don't mean like

  374. I'm bored in this

  375. sermon stretch.

  376. Oh right.

  377. Not that stretch.

  378. Just, you know, the

  379. idea of increasing

  380. your range of motion.

  381. Now this isn't a

  382. self-help sermon

  383. 'cause I can't

  384. help you and you

  385. probably can't help

  386. yourself much either.

  387. We need Jesus

  388. for that.

  389. But this time of

  390. year everybody's

  391. pretty big into

  392. exercise and fitness.

  393. Right.

  394. Fitness pizza

  395. in my mouth kind

  396. of vibe, right?

  397. Like we're into

  398. the fitness thing

  399. and it, it's, it's

  400. a reality for us.

  401. We want to try to

  402. get in shape and

  403. get healthy and

  404. all those things.

  405. And I've been

  406. thinking about this

  407. idea of stretching

  408. a little bit.

  409. Uh, and there's

  410. something really

  411. cool about stretching

  412. not okay physically.

  413. Sure, right?

  414. Like if we don't

  415. stretch, if we don't

  416. reach, if we don't

  417. kind of increase our

  418. range of motion at

  419. times, or at least

  420. continue to maintain

  421. a healthy range of

  422. motion, we end up

  423. losing our range

  424. of motion, right?

  425. And the more you lose,

  426. the less impactful,

  427. the less able you

  428. are to maybe touch

  429. certain things or

  430. reach certain things

  431. or do certain things.

  432. And so this idea of

  433. physically stretching

  434. is, is a fair

  435. concept to chew on.

  436. And I would encourage

  437. you that if you don't

  438. do any stretching,

  439. if you like stretch

  440. for a bag of potato

  441. chips or the remote,

  442. maybe incorporating

  443. a little stretching

  444. into your life would

  445. be a good thing.

  446. I noticed it when

  447. I tried to tie my

  448. shoe the other day

  449. that stretching

  450. would probably be a

  451. good thing in 2025.

  452. Let's work on that.

  453. Um, and I'm not,

  454. listen, Paul says

  455. there's a little value

  456. in physical, you know,

  457. activity and things.

  458. It is good.

  459. There's some good

  460. stuff there, but

  461. there's way more

  462. important things than

  463. just the physical

  464. going on here.

  465. And that's

  466. the spiritual.

  467. And this morning I

  468. want to challenge

  469. you with this idea

  470. of stretching.

  471. Not so much, not so

  472. much on a yoga mat,

  473. but a whole lot more

  474. stretching towards

  475. what God has for you

  476. in this new year.

  477. Stretching and

  478. increasing your

  479. range of motion,

  480. spiritually trying

  481. to have more impact.

  482. Not losing the

  483. impact you already

  484. have, but actually

  485. increasing your range

  486. of motion for the

  487. things that matter,

  488. for all eternity.

  489. I wanna share with

  490. you the most iconic

  491. passage of scripture

  492. that everybody

  493. should probably

  494. read in January and

  495. maybe every day.

  496. 'cause Paul lays

  497. out kind of the

  498. perfect beginning

  499. of the year kickoff.

  500. Passage of scripture

  501. that as Christians,

  502. maybe I'll just take

  503. a minute and marinate

  504. on a little bit.

  505. So this morning lemme

  506. challenge you to walk

  507. through this together

  508. with me and let's

  509. unpack this message to

  510. the church in Philippi

  511. that Paul shares.

  512. 'cause I think there's

  513. something really

  514. important for us

  515. as we look at a new

  516. year and we look at

  517. all that God has in

  518. in store for us and

  519. maybe look at things

  520. we need to assess in

  521. our own life as well.

  522. Philippians three,

  523. seven through 16 says

  524. this, but whatever

  525. were gains to me, I

  526. now consider loss for

  527. the sake of Christ.

  528. Now lemme just say,

  529. we can tell right

  530. here, this is a

  531. January passage of

  532. scripture, right?

  533. You gotta know

  534. your gym lingo

  535. gains, right?

  536. We're stacking gains

  537. in the gym working

  538. on some seriously

  539. awesome gains.

  540. I don't know.

  541. That's a legit gym

  542. word, correct, Josh?

  543. Rick Gains, right?

  544. You remember all my

  545. gains from working in

  546. your gym, crush it.

  547. Not as much.

  548. Thank you for that.

  549. That was nice.

  550. But gains is a

  551. word of what?

  552. Like accomplishment,

  553. achievement,

  554. successes.

  555. Gains.

  556. We know what gains

  557. look like in business.

  558. We know what gains

  559. look like maybe in

  560. our personal life

  561. trying to achieve

  562. more in the gym.

  563. It's about lifting

  564. more weight,

  565. being able to do

  566. more reps, right?

  567. Increasing some

  568. of those things.

  569. Stretching.

  570. You might have

  571. a bigger range

  572. of motion.

  573. Physically.

  574. Paul says this,

  575. whatever we're

  576. gains to me, I now

  577. consider loss for

  578. the sake of Christ.

  579. What is more?

  580. I consider everything

  581. a loss because of

  582. the surpassing worth

  583. of knowing Christ

  584. Jesus, my Lord, for

  585. whose sake I have

  586. lost all things.

  587. I consider them

  588. garbage, rubbish

  589. that I may gain.

  590. Christ.

  591. What does he consider?

  592. Trash and junk

  593. and worthless.

  594. Well, I consider them.

  595. What are we?

  596. What are the them?

  597. The gains, right?

  598. The gains, the things

  599. that he has achieved

  600. just before this.

  601. He's talking about

  602. being like an

  603. epic Israelite who

  604. was the Hebrew of

  605. Hebrews, right?

  606. He checked every

  607. box, he achieved

  608. every success.

  609. He looked in every

  610. area like the

  611. perfect specimen.

  612. But what he says is,

  613. compared to Christ,

  614. these gains are trash.

  615. Not just the the

  616. gains, but everything.

  617. A loss, right?

  618. All things, everything

  619. I'm chasing after

  620. everything I'm trying

  621. to achieve compared

  622. to knowing Christ,

  623. they are garbage.

  624. And garbage is a great

  625. word 'cause it paints

  626. a really good picture.

  627. There are very few of

  628. us, other than when

  629. our wife throws away

  630. like one of our high

  631. school trophies, very

  632. few of us who will

  633. dig in the trash to

  634. take something back

  635. out of the garbage

  636. to hold and to

  637. savor and to keep.

  638. 'cause it's worthless.

  639. Right.

  640. Paul makes a

  641. really powerful

  642. worth statement.

  643. He says, your

  644. time, your energy,

  645. your effort, your

  646. resources, everything

  647. that you're chasing,

  648. everything you're

  649. trying to accomplish,

  650. everything you're

  651. doing, those gains,

  652. these earthly gains

  653. that you're after

  654. compared to knowing

  655. Christ Trash, right?

  656. Compared to the

  657. surpassing worth

  658. and value of

  659. knowing Christ.

  660. And as you look at

  661. 2025 and the not

  662. resolutions, the

  663. small goals you

  664. have in your life

  665. or the objectives,

  666. whatever words you

  667. want to use, we're

  668. all chasing stuff.

  669. We're all trying

  670. to achieve success

  671. at business.

  672. We're all trying to

  673. increase that 401k.

  674. We're all trying to

  675. find more stability

  676. or more security, or

  677. all of these things in

  678. this world around us.

  679. And is it wrong to

  680. try to be successful

  681. in business or is it

  682. wrong to try to create

  683. a safe environment

  684. or no, those

  685. aren't bad things,

  686. but compared to.

  687. Christ and

  688. knowing Jesus it's

  689. all worthless.

  690. This word knowing's

  691. an important word too.

  692. 'cause this isn't

  693. knowing about Jesus.

  694. He's not saying,

  695. compared to knowing

  696. about who Jesus

  697. is, everything

  698. else is worthless.

  699. No, no, no.

  700. This is relational

  701. knowing right?

  702. To know Jesus, to

  703. have a relationship

  704. with him.

  705. Paul says everything

  706. else is worthless

  707. compared to that.

  708. And man, there's

  709. a really, really

  710. important math

  711. equation I

  712. gotta show you.

  713. And I feel really bad

  714. because some of you

  715. are on, on Christmas

  716. break and you're like,

  717. please, no, I have

  718. like 24 more hours.

  719. Don't do this.

  720. I'm sorry.

  721. Here you go.

  722. Jesus is greater

  723. than, it was like

  724. a kindergarten

  725. math equation.

  726. Sorry.

  727. Uh, Jesus is greater

  728. than everything.

  729. Jesus is greater

  730. than everything.

  731. And I wanna ask

  732. you a really rotten

  733. pastor question.

  734. Like, does your

  735. life reflect

  736. this statement?

  737. If you look at your

  738. time, energy, and

  739. money, and if you

  740. look at how you're

  741. doing things, where's

  742. Jesus stack up in

  743. your greater than

  744. less than categories?

  745. Is he the pursuit

  746. of your heart or is

  747. he also something

  748. you do in 2025?

  749. See, Paul says,

  750. nothing else has

  751. value or worth in

  752. comparison to Jesus.

  753. He doesn't even

  754. give you a scale.

  755. Do you notice that

  756. he's not like, well,

  757. there's a scale.

  758. Jesus is the top and

  759. then here's the other.

  760. He's like Jesus and

  761. nothing else has

  762. value compared to him.

  763. It doesn't mean

  764. nothing has value at

  765. all, but man, when

  766. our hearts are chasing

  767. this stuff, it's in

  768. the wrong direction.

  769. It's in the wrong

  770. place, and we're

  771. chasing the wrong

  772. objective, and we're

  773. never gonna find

  774. joy, satisfaction,

  775. security, hope,

  776. peace, none of it

  777. outside of this truth.

  778. Jesus needs

  779. to be greater

  780. than everything

  781. in your life.

  782. Whatever word gains

  783. to me, I count

  784. for loss, right?

  785. That I may gain Christ

  786. and be found in him.

  787. That's my objective,

  788. that's my goal.

  789. Not having a

  790. righteousness

  791. of my own.

  792. That comes from

  793. the law, not being

  794. righteous before God,

  795. because I do all the

  796. right stuff and I

  797. check every box and

  798. I'm obedient here,

  799. here and here, and so

  800. I get my gold sticker.

  801. And I'm righteous

  802. because of

  803. what I've done.

  804. No, no.

  805. A righteousness,

  806. not that comes

  807. from the law, but

  808. which is through

  809. faith in Christ, a

  810. righteousness that

  811. comes from God on

  812. the basis of faith

  813. through Jesus.

  814. Our righteousness

  815. is not our own.

  816. We make this mistake

  817. all the time of

  818. thinking that we're

  819. righteous because

  820. of what we do.

  821. No, we're

  822. made righteous

  823. because of Jesus.

  824. Jesus wraps us in

  825. his righteousness.

  826. When we come to him

  827. and we confess our

  828. sin and we ask for

  829. his forgiveness and

  830. his cleansing, he

  831. blots out our sin

  832. and our iniquity and

  833. he takes it away and

  834. he wraps us in his

  835. righteousness and we

  836. make this mistake of

  837. thinking like, sweet,

  838. now I'm righteous,

  839. so I'll just take

  840. off this coat and

  841. go do my own thing.

  842. That's not

  843. how it works.

  844. Our righteousness

  845. is through Christ.

  846. He is our

  847. righteousness.

  848. And as we know him

  849. and as we walk in

  850. relationship with

  851. him, God doesn't

  852. even see us.

  853. He sees Christ's

  854. righteousness where

  855. we stand because of

  856. that relationship.

  857. And whenever we get

  858. to a place where we

  859. decide that we're

  860. righteous because

  861. of what we do, boy,

  862. we're in a, we're

  863. in a dangerous

  864. place because pride

  865. starts to puff up.

  866. And we start to look

  867. at other people in a

  868. judgmental way, and we

  869. start to do different

  870. things and act

  871. different ways that

  872. make us more valuable

  873. than other people,

  874. even in our own

  875. minds as a dangerous

  876. place to live,

  877. there's a humility

  878. in recognizing our

  879. righteousness is

  880. through Jesus alone.

  881. And we come to him in

  882. faith believing that

  883. he is the son of God,

  884. that he rose from

  885. the dead, and that

  886. he is the way, the

  887. truth and the life.

  888. And when we do that,

  889. man, we're righteous.

  890. We're made right

  891. before God.

  892. Pretty humble words

  893. from a guy like

  894. Paul who looked like

  895. he was the perfect

  896. dude from church.

  897. I want to know Christ.

  898. He says yes to know

  899. the power of his

  900. resurrection and

  901. participation in his

  902. suffering becoming

  903. like him in his death.

  904. And so somehow

  905. to attain to the

  906. resurrection from

  907. the dead, he says,

  908. I want to know.

  909. I want to be

  910. like Jesus.

  911. We did that.

  912. Uh, practicing the way

  913. right, knowing him,

  914. being like him, doing

  915. the things he did.

  916. This knowing Christ

  917. becoming more and

  918. more like Jesus,

  919. being part of his

  920. family and acting

  921. like it, and having

  922. a family resemblance.

  923. These are all evidence

  924. of who we've become.

  925. Last Sunday, we just

  926. tucked for a second.

  927. I got a quick

  928. second on.

  929. We are children

  930. of God.

  931. That is what we are

  932. for those of us who

  933. are in Christ, the

  934. substance of who we

  935. are and the way we

  936. live reflects it.

  937. Paul's heart is

  938. he wants to know

  939. Jesus even more.

  940. He wants to be

  941. more and more and

  942. more and more and

  943. more like him.

  944. So that one day all

  945. eternity, he gets to

  946. experience the joy

  947. of that relationship

  948. with Christ.

  949. And then I love this

  950. humble statement

  951. Paul makes.

  952. He says, not that

  953. I've already obtained

  954. all this or have

  955. already arrived at my

  956. goal, but I press on.

  957. To take hold of that

  958. for which Christ Jesus

  959. took hold of me, not

  960. that I have arrived.

  961. And listen, I don't

  962. know you like in

  963. a deep, intimate,

  964. spiritual way

  965. what your prayer

  966. life's really like.

  967. How many Bible

  968. verses you really

  969. got memorized, how

  970. you're really sharing

  971. your faith when

  972. nobody's looking,

  973. or the integrity

  974. of your heart in

  975. the dark moments.

  976. I don't know that

  977. stuff, but I feel like

  978. Paul had it more

  979. together than most

  980. people I know.

  981. And Paul was probably

  982. in a pretty rock

  983. solid state as a

  984. follower of Christ.

  985. But Paul recognized

  986. that he hadn't won

  987. the prize yet, that

  988. he hadn't finished

  989. the race yet,

  990. and that he still

  991. needed to stretch

  992. and to press on.

  993. In fact, he says that

  994. I, I preach, I do

  995. all this stuff, that

  996. I beat my body into

  997. submission so that

  998. after I have preached

  999. to others, I myself

  1000. am not disqualified

  1001. for the prize.

  1002. Paul lived in a

  1003. reality that it's

  1004. not about me.

  1005. It's about Christ's

  1006. righteousness and

  1007. my obedience and

  1008. following and walking

  1009. in this stuff.

1010. And I have so much

  1011. more to learn and

  1012. listen, the devil

  1013. would like to

  1014. say to us, Hey,

  1015. you're good enough.

  1016. You got it.

  1017. Stop stretching.

  1018. Stop reaching.

  1019. You've arrived.

  1020. You got, you got

  1021. the American dream,

  1022. you got all the

  1023. pieces together.

  1024. God smile on.

  1025. You just savor it.

  1026. And Paul challenges

1027. us to press on to

  1028. stretch, right?

1029. In fact, he says this,

  1030. brothers and sisters,

  1031. I do not consider

  1032. myself yet to have

  1033. taken hold of it,

1034. but one thing I do.

1035. And this one thing is

1036. what I think we should

  1037. consider Paul's annual

  1038. New year's resolution

  1039. and maybe daily

  1040. resolution that we

  1041. ought to chase after.

  1042. It's this forgetting

  1043. what is behind and

  1044. straining towards

  1045. what is ahead.

  1046. I press on toward

1047. the goal to win the

  1048. prize for which God

  1049. has called me heaven

  1050. word in Christ Jesus.

1051. This one thing I do,

  1052. forgetting what lies

  1053. behind and straining

  1054. towards what's ahead.

  1055. It's a cool

  1056. picture, this

  1057. idea of forgetting

  1058. what is behind.

  1059. Now, does Paul mean

  1060. like don't remember

1061. any of the lessons you

  1062. learned in the past?

  1063. No.

  1064. No.

  1065. That's not

  1066. wisdom at all.

  1067. He's not saying Forget

  1068. everything, you know,

  1069. forget everything

  1070. you've believed,

  1071. forget everything,

  1072. and just start

  1073. fresh with nothing

  1074. and go forward.

1075. Now, that's not at all

  1076. a biblical picture.

  1077. What's he really

  1078. speaking about?

  1079. He's really talking

  1080. about the things that

  1081. hinder the things

  1082. that the enemy would

  1083. speak into us about,

  1084. who we've been,

  1085. where we've been,

  1086. our failures, our

  1087. struggle where we

  1088. don't measure up,

  1089. where we couldn't see

  1090. it through, where we

  1091. didn't hit the mark.

  1092. 'cause man, that's

  1093. what the devil

  1094. speaks to us about

  1095. all the time, our

  1096. failure and our sin.

1097. He reminds us over and

  1098. over and over again

  1099. about what we've done

  1100. and where we've been.

  1101. One of my favorite,

  1102. uh, posters in our

1103. youth room as a high

  1104. school kid said, when

  1105. the devil reminds you

  1106. of your past, remind

  1107. him of his future.

  1108. That's a pretty good

  1109. statement, right?

  1110. He's destined for

  1111. destruction in

  1112. the lake of fire.

  1113. It's done, it's

  1114. written, it's

  1115. not if it's just

  1116. when it's done.

  1117. And listen for

  1118. those who have made

  1119. mistakes and failed

  1120. and fallen apart and

  1121. made messes and ruined

  1122. things and feel like

  1123. there's no hope.

  1124. 'cause the devil tells

  1125. you that that's not

  1126. the voice of your

  1127. heavenly Father.

  1128. In fact, check this

  1129. out in the Greek.

  1130. This is super cool.

  1131. This Greek word.

  1132. Anybody got it?

  1133. Yeah.

  1134. Okay, Jed, you ready?

  1135. Your brother wisely.

  1136. Slipped over to

  1137. help with Sunday's.

  1138. Cool.

  1139. Next door.

1140. So he didn't have to

  1141. show off his Greek

  1142. skills that we're

  1143. paying thousands

  1144. of dollars for from

  1145. Indiana Wesleyan.

  1146. Jackie, you went to

  1147. Indiana Wesleyan.

  1148. What do you got?

  1149. Is this Uh,

  1150. I never took

  1151. a Greek class.

  1152. Oh, it's all

  1153. Greek to you.

  1154. I see what you're

  1155. doing there.

  1156. The back that

  1157. he likes.

1158. The big words I heard.

  1159. Yeah.

  1160. Where's Dex?

  1161. Is he pretending

  1162. to change a

  1163. baby's diaper Man?

  1164. Classic.

  1165. Alright, well

  1166. here's how it's

  1167. supposed to sound.

  1168. Something like Epi Ma,

  1169. which is close enough.

  1170. We'll call that

  1171. the Central Indiana

  1172. version of this

  1173. really complicated

  1174. Greek word, but

  1175. lanai is the Greek

  1176. word for forgetting.

  1177. Now, check this out.

  1178. This is pretty epic.

  1179. You know, Jesus says

1180. to us, he says to us

  1181. that when we confess

  1182. our sin, that he

  1183. remembers our sin

  1184. no longer, and that

1185. he casts it as far

1186. as the east is from

  1187. the West, right?

  1188. Like forever

  1189. away from itself.

  1190. Forever, right?

  1191. And we recognize

  1192. scripture that says,

1193. for those who are in

  1194. Christ, there's now no

  1195. condemnation, right?

  1196. That we're not

  1197. condemned to

  1198. destruction because

  1199. we've come to faith

  1200. through Jesus Christ.

  1201. We remember the story

  1202. that Jesus tells of

  1203. the woman caught in

  1204. adultery who's dragged

  1205. before him and thrown

  1206. on the ground as

  1207. the men stand around

  1208. with stones saying,

  1209. this woman was caught

  1210. in adultery and the

  1211. law demands that she

  1212. be stoned to death.

  1213. And Jesus, instead

  1214. of responding,

  1215. just gets on his

  1216. knees and starts

  1217. writing in the sand.

  1218. Right?

  1219. So much has been

  1220. made about it.

  1221. We don't know.

1222. Did he write down the

  1223. names of the people

  1224. that the guys around

  1225. had lusted after and

  1226. maybe had adultery

  1227. with themselves?

  1228. Did he write down

  1229. different names

  1230. of different sins?

  1231. Did Jesus just draw

  1232. a little stick figure

  1233. with the smiley?

  1234. F?

  1235. We don't know.

  1236. We don't know.

  1237. We know what we

  1238. wrote down, right?

  1239. But what we do

1240. know is that one by

  1241. one, beginning with

  1242. the oldest to the

  1243. youngest, the men

  1244. dropped their stones

  1245. and walked away.

  1246. And Jesus, when it

1247. was quiet and it was

1248. just a pile of stones

  1249. laying around, asked

  1250. the woman, where are

  1251. your accusers, those

  1252. who condemn you?

  1253. And the woman looked

  1254. around and said,

  1255. well, they're gone.

  1256. No one.

  1257. And Jesus said,

  1258. then neither do I

  1259. condemn you, but

1260. go and sin no more.

  1261. Right?

  1262. The heart of our

1263. father is not a heart

  1264. of condemnation.

  1265. It's not a

  1266. heart of being

  1267. imprisoned because

  1268. of your failures

  1269. and your sins.

  1270. Epi Ohai is this

  1271. word for forgetting

  1272. and check out

  1273. what it means.

  1274. Given over to

  1275. oblivion, given

  1276. over to oblivion.

  1277. When we confess our

1278. sin to Jesus, when we

  1279. come before him with

  1280. repentance in our

  1281. hearts, he takes our

  1282. sin in our failure.

  1283. And you know what

  1284. he does to it?

1285. He gives it over to

  1286. oblivion, and I have

1287. no idea how to measure

  1288. that, but that's

  1289. ridiculously gone.

1290. I used to do this

  1291. thing when I was

  1292. a kid and I'd be

  1293. like, alright, so

  1294. Jesus, you said,

  1295. my sin is forgiven.

  1296. You forget it, you

  1297. don't remember it.

1298. So I'd lay in bed and

1299. remind God of my sin.

  1300. I'd be like, Lord,

  1301. remember today

  1302. when I did that?

  1303. Remember when

  1304. day I did that?

  1305. When I did that?

  1306. Just check in.

  1307. Just check in, right?

  1308. And God's like,

  1309. Andrew, go to bed.

  1310. You're a moron.

  1311. But that's totally

  1312. different time

  1313. with him for me.

  1314. But given over

  1315. to oblivion is an

  1316. incredible picture

  1317. of what God does

  1318. with our sin.

  1319. Now, the devil,

  1320. he's desperately

  1321. trying to remind us

  1322. of our failures and

  1323. our sin constantly,

  1324. but not our God.

  1325. Paul says, this

  1326. is what I do.

  1327. I forget

  1328. what's behind.

  1329. I give over to

  1330. oblivion, the

  1331. failures, the

  1332. mistakes, the sin,

  1333. because I've handed

  1334. them to the eternal

  1335. God who cleanses me

  1336. and forgives me, and

  1337. restores me, and gives

1338. me hope and a future.

  1339. So I forget what

  1340. lies behind.

  1341. I strain towards

  1342. what lies ahead.

  1343. Kinda a cool

  1344. contrast in this,

  1345. uh, epi, epi apac,

  1346. something like that.

  1347. Aina, somebody's, I

  1348. don't know, stand.

  1349. You got a packs

  1350. in your row.

  1351. There we go.

1352. So APAC of I is this

  1353. really cool word

  1354. that in the Greek

  1355. means to stretch

  1356. out towards, to

  1357. stretch out towards.

  1358. So Paul says, Hey,

  1359. listen, I haven't

  1360. achieved everything.

  1361. I haven't

  1362. finished the race.

  1363. I haven't crossed

  1364. the finish line.

  1365. None of us have,

  1366. none of us have.

  1367. We gotta keep

  1368. pressing on.

  1369. And here's

  1370. how I do it.

  1371. Here's how I do it.

  1372. I forget

  1373. what's behind.

1374. I let go of the

  1375. mistakes and

  1376. the failures.

  1377. Sometimes we sit and

  1378. we assess the year

  1379. behind us and we're

  1380. like, you know what?

1381. All I can think of

  1382. is self-condemnation

  1383. and criticism for all

  1384. the things I didn't

  1385. achieve and didn't do.

  1386. Amen.

  1387. God says, Hey, hey.

  1388. Listen to my

  1389. servant Paul,

  1390. who reminded you.

  1391. Hand those over

  1392. to oblivion.

  1393. Be done with that

  1394. step with me into

  1395. this new year,

  1396. into this new day.

  1397. My mercies are

  1398. new every morning.

  1399. My faithfulness,

  1400. constant and

  1401. continuous, always

  1402. readily available

  1403. for those who

  1404. had come to me.

  1405. A contrite heart I

  1406. will not despise,

  1407. says the Lord.

  1408. I press toward the

1409. goal to win the prize.

  1410. Now, I don't know

  1411. what you have looking

  1412. back at 2024, but I

  1413. believe with all my

  1414. heart, God's clear

  1415. instruction to you

1416. and to me is to give

  1417. over to oblivion

  1418. what lies behind us.

  1419. Just give it away.

  1420. Get rid of it.

  1421. Give it to him.

  1422. Stop picking it up.

  1423. Stop talking about it.

  1424. And stretch out

  1425. towards increase

  1426. your range of motion.

  1427. Listen, we're

  1428. all tired.

  1429. We don't wanna

  1430. do any exercise.

  1431. We don't wanna

  1432. do any more work.

  1433. We don't expand any

  1434. more responsibilities

  1435. and weight.

  1436. That's a great lie

  1437. of the enemy to

  1438. say, just stay there

  1439. stagnant and let your

  1440. spiritual muscles.

  1441. I think the words

  1442. petrify, probably

  1443. not, but yeah, let's

  1444. just call it that.

  1445. Just harden to the

  1446. point that you're

  1447. dead and you're

  1448. not impactful.

  1449. I think Jesus has

  1450. some really important

  1451. things that he wants

1452. you to do in 2025.

1453. I think he has some

  1454. really important

  1455. things maybe that you

1456. need to let go of, but

  1457. some really important

  1458. things you need to

  1459. stretch towards.

  1460. 'cause if you have

  1461. breath in your lungs,

  1462. he's not done and

  1463. your race isn't over,

1464. it's not over at all.

  1465. The enemy wants

  1466. you to sit down

  1467. on the sideline.

  1468. The enemy wants to

  1469. just, Hey man, I

  1470. gotta tap out Anthony

  1471. Richards in it, right?

  1472. I'm ready to

  1473. take a break.

  1474. I don't want any

  1475. more of this.

1476. But the truth is he

1477. says, Hey, let go of

  1478. the stuff that the

  1479. devil's just speaking

  1480. lies about, and let's

  1481. step into the truth

  1482. and let's press on

  1483. to what lies ahead.

  1484. And if you don't

  1485. think that that's what

  1486. we're supposed to be

  1487. talking about, Paul

1488. goes on to say, all

1489. of us then who are

  1490. mature, should take

1491. such a view of things.

  1492. And if at some

  1493. point you think

  1494. differently, God

  1495. will square you up.

1496. So yeah, this is how

  1497. we ought to think.

1498. This is how we ought

  1499. to approach stuff.

  1500. And then he says

  1501. this, only let us

1502. live up to what we've

  1503. already attained.

  1504. Don't, don't regress.

  1505. Don't sit down

  1506. and lose your

  1507. range of motion.

  1508. Continue to stretch,

  1509. to expand, to reach

  1510. towards everything

1511. God has for you in

  1512. this new year ahead.

  1513. Well, Rusty's gonna

  1514. come up here real

  1515. quick and we're gonna

  1516. close with, uh, just

  1517. a few moments together

1518. where we can pray in

1519. this new year as a

  1520. church family, but

1521. also maybe as you step

1522. into a new year, and

1523. we're not so far into

  1524. it that we've missed

  1525. our window guys,

  1526. just so you know.

  1527. But maybe there's

  1528. some stuff that's kind

  1529. of still dragging,

  1530. stepping in from 2024,

  1531. and maybe there's

  1532. some sin, maybe

  1533. there's some things

  1534. that you've held

  1535. onto that, uh, man,

  1536. that the devil wants

  1537. destruction and death

  1538. and you feel like

  1539. it's choking you and

  1540. you can't really make

  1541. any strides towards

  1542. anything because man,

  1543. the enemy's just got,

  1544. got you clamped down.

  1545. Well, I want

  1546. you to know that

  1547. that's not how God

  1548. wants you to live.

1549. And he wants you to be

  1550. free from your burden

  1551. of guilt and shame.

  1552. He wants you to

  1553. find forgiveness.

1554. He wants you to hand

1555. to him that it might

  1556. be discarded into

  1557. oblivion, the mistakes

  1558. and the failures,

  1559. the shortcomings.

  1560. And maybe you're here

  1561. this morning, the

  1562. first time you've ever

  1563. really even thought

  1564. about that stuff and

  1565. you recognize it.

  1566. Well, maybe you need

  1567. to take some time

  1568. here and ask the

  1569. Lord for forgiveness.

  1570. 'cause you've never

  1571. done that before.

1572. And maybe as we sit

  1573. on this new year,

1574. maybe you have a real

  1575. hard time letting

  1576. go of some things.

  1577. Maybe you think,

  1578. Hey, I've handed

  1579. this to the Lord.

  1580. But you really never

  1581. took your death

  1582. grip off of it.

  1583. And so he never

  1584. really could pry

  1585. it outta your hands

  1586. 'cause he is not

  1587. that kind of God.

  1588. And there's some

  1589. things that you're

  1590. holding on to.

  1591. That you need to

  1592. let go and open

  1593. your hands wide.

  1594. And maybe this morning

1595. as you look at a new

  1596. year, you're tired and

  1597. you're disinterested,

  1598. or you're anxious

  1599. and you're concerned

  1600. and worried, or

  1601. just feel like, why?

  1602. What's the point?

  1603. And listen, you

  1604. might have, you

  1605. might be ahead of

  1606. Paul in the race.

  1607. I'm not trying to

  1608. say you're not.

  1609. I know I'm not.

1610. And if old Paul who

  1611. had it rocking could

1612. say, woe is me, God,

  1613. my righteousness

  1614. is just in you,

  1615. and I gotta stretch

  1616. and I gotta press

  1617. and I gotta reach

  1618. maybe this morning.

  1619. That's where you

  1620. should start in this

1621. new year to say, God,

  1622. gimme the courage,

  1623. gimme the vision.

  1624. Help me to see

  1625. where you want

  1626. me to stretch.

  1627. What do you need

  1628. to let go of?

1629. What do you need to

  1630. give over to oblivion?

1631. Now, what do you need

  1632. to stretch towards?

  1633. What is God putting

  1634. in your vision and

  1635. your, maybe even in

  1636. the peripheral right

  1637. now, but what are

  1638. you beginning to see

  1639. that maybe he wants

  1640. you to reach towards

  1641. trusting him to

  1642. give you everything

  1643. you need to expand

  1644. that range of motion

  1645. and that impact?

  1646. Would you bow your

  1647. heads with me for

  1648. just a moment?

  1649. We're not gonna take

  1650. long this morning,

1651. but I would be amiss

  1652. if I didn't give

  1653. you an opportunity.

  1654. If you want to

  1655. come and kneel up

  1656. here and pray for

  1657. just a few moments,

  1658. uh, invite you to

  1659. come and do that.

  1660. If you wanna pray

  1661. in your seat, maybe

  1662. talk to your spouse

1663. or your kids or your

  1664. parents about some

  1665. of those thoughts.

  1666. Whatever you need

  1667. to do, you have

  1668. this time here.

1669. You and the Lord do

1670. what he wants you to

1671. do so that as you step

  1672. into this new year,

1673. you can do it with

1674. joy and with hope, a

  1675. whole lot lighter to

  1676. be able to stretch

  1677. a whole lot further.

1678. We will do that here

  1679. for a few minutes

  1680. and then I'll close

  1681. this in prayer.

  1682. Lord,

  1683. thank you for your

  1684. incredible love

1685. for us, a love that

  1686. we don't deserve

  1687. and we can't earn.

  1688. There is none

  1689. righteous.

  1690. No, not one.

1691. And all of us come

  1692. before you has

  1693. fallen as sinful,

  1694. needing your

  1695. forgiveness to be

  1696. restored, to be

  1697. wrapped in your

  1698. righteousness.

  1699. Thank you for your

  1700. word, for your promise

  1701. that you'll cast

1702. our sin as far as

1703. the east is from the

  1704. west, that you will

  1705. remember our iniquity

  1706. no longer, that you'll

1707. blot out all of our

  1708. transgressions that

  1709. you'll give them

  1710. over to oblivion.

1711. And God, I pray that

  1712. you would forgive

  1713. our sin, that you

  1714. would cleanse us from

  1715. all unrighteousness.

  1716. Lord, on behalf of

  1717. myself, my family,

  1718. my church family,

  1719. Lord, I pray that

  1720. you would forgive us

1721. for all of our sin

  1722. and that you would

  1723. cleanse us from all

  1724. unrighteousness.

  1725. And Lord, I pray

  1726. for your protection,

  1727. that you would guard

  1728. our hearts and minds

  1729. in Christ Jesus as

  1730. the enemy attacks

  1731. that we'd hold up

  1732. that shield of faith

  1733. to extinguish the

  1734. flaming arrows of

  1735. the evil one that

  1736. would remind us of.

  1737. Who we've been and

  1738. what we've done,

  1739. but that we would

  1740. hold to the promise

  1741. that through Jesus,

  1742. we are children of

  1743. God, that our very

  1744. nature has changed

  1745. from lost to found,

  1746. from the household

  1747. of sin and death

  1748. to the household

  1749. of the eternal King

  1750. And Lord, I pray

  1751. in this year ahead,

  1752. there's some

  1753. anxieties, there's

  1754. some fears, there's

  1755. some hopes, some

  1756. aspirations,

  1757. some dreams.

  1758. Thank you that

  1759. you're there and

  1760. that we can count

1761. on you and we can

  1762. hold tightly to you.

  1763. And Father, I pray

  1764. that you would prepare

  1765. the way for us,

  1766. that you would make

  1767. the paths level and

  1768. straight the road

  1769. signs easy to discern

  1770. and understand that

1771. you'd help us as we

1772. try to just take step

  1773. after step, walking

  1774. in righteousness

  1775. and obedience

  1776. following you through

  1777. this new year.

  1778. And Lord, I pray

  1779. you to increase our

  1780. spiritual muscle

  1781. as we stretch,

1782. as we make that range

  1783. of motion just a

  1784. little bit further

  1785. than it currently is.

  1786. And then maybe just

  1787. a little further, the

1788. Lord, at the end of

  1789. 2025, we would look

  1790. back marveling, uh,

1791. what you allowed us to

  1792. do to impact eternity

1793. and the lives of the

  1794. people around us.

  1795. Thank you for your

  1796. incredible love.

  1797. Thank you for a

  1798. new year, and thank

1799. you that we get to

  1800. walk it together

  1801. and just pray you

  1802. encourage us and

  1803. strengthen us, and

1804. give us crazy joy in

  1805. the journey ahead.

  1806. In Jesus' name, amen.

  1807. Amen.

  1808. Well, as we close

  1809. this morning and we

  1810. think about what lies

  1811. ahead, I wanna invite

1812. Josh to sneak up here

  1813. and, uh, share some

  1814. upcoming g events.

  1815. That looks like a

  1816. font issue, bro.

  1817. Not, not sure what's

  1818. going on there.

  1819. Well, we got all

  1820. sorts of cool events

  1821. coming up in 2025,

1822. and I feel like God

  1823. was prompted me as

  1824. Andy spoke to maybe

  1825. make a distinction

  1826. about these events

  1827. here at White Rock.

  1828. We do a lot of, I

  1829. think a pretty cool

  1830. stuff, a lot of

  1831. neat, really neat

  1832. things actually,

  1833. and sometimes maybe

  1834. we think about it

  1835. as the cute things

  1836. they're doing over

  1837. at church and I

  1838. got my own plans.

  1839. I just wanna

  1840. encourage you guys

  1841. be part of this.

  1842. We're stretching.

  1843. We've got some really

  1844. cool leadership all

  1845. the way around that

  1846. have God's intentions

  1847. fighting really

1848. hard to have us do

  1849. things together,

  1850. do life together so

  1851. we can stretch and

  1852. we wanna help in

  1853. every way possible.

  1854. And so these

  1855. events, they're,

  1856. they're all silly.

  1857. They're fun.

  1858. They're a blast

  1859. because I think we

  1860. have pretty good

  1861. at, pretty good at

  1862. having fun here.

  1863. But think about we're

  1864. doing life together.

  1865. Join us on some

  1866. of these things.

  1867. They're pretty

  1868. stinking cool.

  1869. And the more we

  1870. get together,

  1871. that stronger that

  1872. faith's gonna be.

  1873. 'cause we're gonna

  1874. build each other up.

  1875. So we've got some

  1876. new stuff going on.

  1877. Uh, which

  1878. one's to click?

  1879. You have this

  1880. right there.

  1881. Thank you.

  1882. Didn't realize there

  1883. was so many buttons

  1884. on this thing.

  1885. My goodness.

  1886. Technology is

  1887. incredible.

  1888. But we were gonna

  1889. start with new, uh,

  1890. new times, but they're

1891. kind of the old times.

  1892. So check this

  1893. out with me.

  1894. Ba bam.

  1895. You can see we're

  1896. doing it six

  1897. instead of five.

  1898. So we changed that

1899. back to a time that

1900. I think is gonna be

  1901. way more effective.

  1902. People will be able

1903. to get things done and

1904. come hang out with us.

1905. So ba bam, no longer

  1906. five to six 30.

  1907. It's six to seven 30.

  1908. And also you can

  1909. see the college age

  1910. small group that

  1911. meets up similar

  1912. time also shifting

  1913. to the same schedule.

  1914. So make sure

  1915. you note that.

  1916. Now, like Andy said,

  1917. there's a chance that

  1918. this snow's gonna be

  1919. about an inch, but

1920. if we do get all that

  1921. snow, we wanna be

1922. safe and make sure our

  1923. teen drivers, college

  1924. drivers are safe.

  1925. So it's very likely

  1926. as of this point,

  1927. we're just gonna

1928. shut down ba bam and

  1929. the small group for

  1930. tonight just 'cause

  1931. it's could be ugly.

  1932. So we're just gonna

  1933. play it smart.

  1934. Uh, we also have

  1935. financial peace

  1936. starting Tuesdays

  1937. and Saturdays.

  1938. Uh, Tim Dunnell hands

  1939. up there, uh, he'll

1940. be leading this and me

1941. and my wife have done

  1942. it and talk about.

  1943. All these little

  1944. nuances you may

  1945. never consider when

  1946. it comes to your

  1947. finances, but we

  1948. wanna be good stewards

  1949. of those finances.

  1950. And I think, Tim,

  1951. you're looking

  1952. to say something.

  1953. Okay?

  1954. If you could not

1955. hear, he said he needs

  1956. your email address.

1957. So get linked up with

  1958. him, provide that

  1959. email address to him

1960. so he can send you

  1961. the information you

  1962. need to be successful

  1963. in this next piece.

  1964. Alright, a youth

  1965. group, a wind

  1966. retreat's coming,

  1967. it's close.

  1968. So be prepared

  1969. for that.

  1970. I'll be sending

  1971. out lists of things

  1972. to pack and all

  1973. those kind of

  1974. details real soon.

  1975. So keep your

  1976. eyes open.

  1977. 17th through the 19th.

  1978. Renee, we know she's

  1979. not here today.

  1980. A little bit of

  1981. sickness going on

  1982. in their household,

1983. but if you need any

  1984. more information

  1985. about that, I

  1986. bet maybe Jamie

  1987. could help us out.

  1988. If you have any

  1989. questions, Jamie

  1990. here would be glad

  1991. to give you some

  1992. contact information.

  1993. We have the 18th,

  1994. five o'clock.

  1995. Uh, that's the event,

1996. but we have to RSVP

1997. by the fifth, so make

1998. sure to get that in

1999. there so you can chuck

  2000. Axes and practice

  2001. those skills so you

  2002. can handle somebody

  2003. from 30 feet away.

  2004. Alright,

  2005. super Bowl,

  2006. guess what?

  2007. Like always we

  2008. have Super Bowl

  2009. commercial event

  2010. night, six o'clock.

  2011. Come here.

  2012. We're gonna watch the

  2013. Super Bowl and have

  2014. food, fun, laughter,

  2015. and probably the most

  2016. ridiculous commercials

  2017. you've ever seen

  2018. created here in

  2019. house at White Rock.

  2020. Come check 'em out.

  2021. They are phenomenal

  2022. and I'm sure many

  2023. of you have started

  2024. some already and I'm

  2025. sure there's gonna be

  2026. more jammed in over

2027. the next few days, so

  2028. that'll be awesome.

  2029. Come join us, uh,

  2030. Sunday, February 9th.

  2031. The marriage retreat.

  2032. Man, I'm excited

  2033. about this one.

  2034. You guys can see,

2035. uh, it is on February

  2036. 14th through 16th.

  2037. That is a Friday

  2038. evening all the

  2039. way through a

  2040. Sunday lunchtime.

  2041. Okay?

  2042. And we're all

  2043. over in Ohio.

  2044. Grand Lakes really not

2045. too bad of a drive as

2046. long as your tires are

2047. good and don't end up

  2048. in a ditch in a storm

  2049. like myself last year.

  2050. But we made it.

  2051. God was with us.

  2052. It was just exciting.

  2053. But another thing

2054. to know, uh, we got

  2055. this wonderful price

  2056. tag dropped down

  2057. from White Rock, the

  2058. blessing that they,

2059. uh, hooked us up with.

  2060. There's a couple

  2061. more spots remaining

  2062. at that price tag.

  2063. Only so many lifts.

  2064. So hurry up, sign

  2065. up 'cause the price

2066. does go up after a

  2067. couple more people

  2068. sign up for that

  2069. convenient one 60.

  2070. So get in there.

  2071. Alright, well this

  2072. stretching, it hits

  2073. home with someone like

  2074. me that, uh, hasn't

  2075. touched their toes

  2076. in a couple years.

  2077. I think there's

  2078. some obvious

  2079. correlations, right?

  2080. We gotta stretch,

  2081. we gotta stretch.

2082. And um, if you guys

  2083. would pray with me,

  2084. we'll close up and

  2085. you guys will be

  2086. on your way before

  2087. this storm comes in.

  2088. Well, Lord, thank

  2089. you for today.

  2090. Thank you for this

  2091. church that is

  2092. striving, stretching,

  2093. straining to lead

  2094. and show your truth.

  2095. God, I pray you

  2096. bless every single

  2097. one of these people.

2098. I pray you bring them

  2099. courage to stretch

  2100. and strain for you.

  2101. In what ways,

  2102. Lord, can they make

  2103. those steps in the

  2104. direction that well,

  2105. it makes you proud.

  2106. Our pride's

  2107. dangerous, but you

  2108. being proud of us.

  2109. Now that's different.

  2110. God, I pray for

  2111. that strength.

  2112. I pray for

  2113. your blessing.

  2114. I pray for your

  2115. safety during this

2116. storm and I pray it

  2117. all in Jesus' name.

  2118. Amen.

  2119. Have a wonderful

  2120. day y'all.
