  1. Oh, there it is, baby.

  2. Baby.

  3. Let's go.

  4. Hug.

  5. I mean, come on.

  6. What other child dedication

  7. music can we get?

  8. Right?

  9. Nice.

  10. Great.

  11. You did good, man.

  12. Thanks.

  13. That's why you're the children's pastor.

  14. Good job.

  15. Well, hey, we do have some fun and

  16. special stuff scheduled today here.

  17. For the child dedication ceremony that

  18. will be part of our morning together.

  19. It's very, um, serious and important, but

  20. it involves kids and so it sometimes gets

  21. a little crazy, but that's just what we

  22. do on a regular basis on a Sunday morning.

  23. So I guess technically not that crazy, but

  24. this morning as I was thinking about child

  25. dedication, it was fun to listen in the

  26. sharing time about different kids and kids

  27. growing up and where we're at with stuff.

  28. Like, it's just, it's

  29. such a neat part of life.

  30. Getting to be a parent, um, getting to

  31. be a kid, probably pretty nice thing too.

  32. Transitioning into adult,

  33. not as fun sometimes.

  34. I'll definitely admit that.

  35. But Jesus was a huge fan of kids.

  36. In fact, uh, the disciples kind of got

  37. themselves in trouble when they would try

  38. to like, Hey, don't bother the teacher.

  39. And Jesus would be like,

  40. whoa, just a second man.

  41. Kids are kind of a big deal.

  42. A real big deal.

  43. In fact, if we look over in Matthew

    Matthew 18 chapter mention

  44. chapter 18 verses two through

  45. four, Jesus is talking and he's

  46. teaching, and scripture says Jesus

  47. invited a little child to come

  48. and stand among them as he unpacks

  49. some deep, eternal spiritual truth.

  50. Now, I don't know if you've ever been

  51. in a conversation, you and your friends

  52. or other adults you were talking to.

  53. What usually happens when you

  54. invite a child to come stand in the

  55. middle of that kind of serious talk?

  56. What was that?

  57. Yeah, yeah, that's

  58. pretty much how it works.

  59. And then I started thinking, well,

  60. this morning we're gonna do child

  61. dedication and we're gonna talk about

  62. some important things about kids.

  63. And then I was like, you know what?

  64. I wanna be like Jesus in

  65. every way I possibly can.

  66. So I thought, you know, the only

  67. way to really do this is probably,

  68. I. To invite a little child to

  69. come and stand while we talk.

  70. So Petra, would you come help

  71. me this morning, do something

  72. pretty fun and awesome?

  73. Give a big, big round of

  74. applause for my friend Petra.

  75. Thanks kiddo.

  76. Um, you and I have a

  77. height situation, don't I?

  78. Would you like a stool?

  79. Wish we get you a cool stool.

  80. Maybe I can get, uh, Jed to pop.

  81. Oh no, we got one right there.

  82. How about that one?

  83. Does that one look good?

  84. No, I'll move it for you.

  85. You're good.

  86. Alright, no worries.

  87. Alright, well, Petra, the Bible

  88. says Jesus invited a little kid to

  89. come and let me help you up on that.

  90. Okay.

  91. Or climb on it is great.

  92. Perfect.

  93. Oh, that's pretty cool.

  94. You like that stool?

  95. I'm really tempted to give you a

  96. microphone to hold, but I don't know

  97. if I'll get in a lot of trouble.

  98. You know what I mean?

  99. What do you think?

  100. Should we use it?

  101. Like, I think we should do it.

  102. I do too.

  103. I mean, hey man, it's White Rock, right?

  104. Should hear what the normal guy says.

  105. Okay.

  106. You think you can hold onto that

  107. carefully and can you just speak into

  108. there and say hi to everybody for me?

  109. Give it a shot.

  110. So you just say hi.

  111. Hi.

  112. There we go.

  113. Perfect.

  114. Alright.

  115. Okay kiddo.

  116. Now some people out there might be

  117. thinking to themselves, wait a second.

  118. Jesus invited a little child to

  119. stand and I just had you sit down.

  120. So I don't know if that's right or wrong,

  121. but I did some checking in the Greek

  122. and this word, this heide word in the

  123. Greek does mean to stand, but it also

  124. means to set before someone a child.

  125. So we are within boundaries here,

  126. guys, of fulfilling what Jesus did.

  127. We're gonna set petrol right here

  128. and she's gonna help us think

  129. about some her little bit stuff.

  130. Can you do that?

  131. So, hey, um, maybe so people can

  132. know who you are a little bit.

  133. I don't even know if people know,

  134. um, how long have we been friends?

  135. I don't know.

  136. Oh, you gotta hold that

  137. up there real close.

  138. They can hear you.

  139. I don't really know.

  140. You don't really know.

  141. Like do you don't really know how long or

  142. you don't really know if we're friends.

  143. Hmm.

  144. I think we're pretty good

  145. friends and we've done Whoa.

  146. Whoa, man.

  147. You are silly.

  148. So can you tell everybody

  149. who you are that might help?

  150. Who are your mom and dad?

  151. Are they here?

  152. Somewhere in this room Over there.

  153. Oh, that's right.

  154. Silly.

  155. I'm sorry.

  156. My bad.

  157. Yeah.

  158. So Dax and Jackie are your mom,

  159. and then there's a short little

  160. guy who hangs outta your house.

  161. What's his name?

  162. It's all a he to her.

  163. Oh.

  164. Oh.

  165. Well I meant the other one.

  166. There's like one, just a little.

  167. Do you have a brother or sister?

  168. I have brothers.

  169. Brothers?

  170. Yeah.

  171. Who was the short one that

  172. hangs out at your house?

  173. That's a her.

  174. Is that your mom?

  175. Wait a second, wait a second.

  176. Hmm.

  177. So, I don't know.

  178. Do, do you know your ABCs yet?

  179. How do they go?

  180. Can you help me out?

  181. A-B-C-D-E-F

  182. G-H-I-J-K-L-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X,

  183. Y, and Z. Nice job.

  184. All right, adults, raise your hand if

  185. you would've got all those on your own.

  186. Raise your hand.

  187. See I you did better than everybody else.

  188. Well, I was just curious 'cause we're

  189. gonna show some words on the screen and I

  190. don't want you to have to read any words.

  191. Don't worry.

  192. But I wanted to show people that

  193. you knew your ABCs and I needed

  194. an excuse to show you an A, b, C

  195. video of my kid when he was little.

  196. Would you like to see that?

  197. Yeah.

  198. Have you met Jed?

  199. Yes.

  200. Yes.

  201. Okay.

  202. Okay.

  203. Do you think Jed knows his ABCs?

  204. Yes.

  205. Good.

  206. Okay.

  207. Okay.

  208. You just sang a really pretty ABCs song.

  209. Jed had a different version.

  210. He sang growing up.

  211. Do you wanna see it?

  212. Because I really wanna show it.

  213. I have no good reason other than we're

  214. talking about kids today and I want to

  215. show you Jed's amazing A, B, C. We should

  216. call him angry Jed, check this out.

  217. Relax, act.

  218. This means other videos probably aren't

  219. gonna play, so why don't you relax.

  220. Act like, tell you what,

  221. I gotta change something.

  222. Could you just cover for me a

  223. minute and just talk to everybody?

  224. That'll be great.

  225. Maybe you can tell 'em a story about

  226. Jesus or something cool like that.

  227. Just act.

  228. Just act like this is normal.

  229. Go ahead.

  230. Normal.

  231. How?

  232. What's your favorite color?

  233. Pink.

  234. Who's your favorite dance?

  235. Ooh, don't answer that, Petra.

  236. Okay, we'll take one more shot.

  237. You ready?

  238. ABCs are important.

  239. It's how we get to words and kids are

  240. amazing, but sometimes when you're

  241. working with kids, they derail you or

  242. go different directions than you expect.

  243. This was Jed doing the ABCs as a

  244. kid, and this is what we dealt with.

  245. This is what we A, B, C, D.

  246. No, how you do it by yourself.

  247. I.

  248. I dunno if you caught that last part.

  249. His his closing Santa was next time.

  250. I won't sing with you, so I don't know.

  251. I don't know.

  252. But a lot of fun stuff can

  253. happen when you talk to kids.

  254. Am I right?

  255. Kids are pretty fun.

  256. Do you think so?

  257. Yeah.

  258. More fun than moms and dads sometimes.

  259. No.

  260. Good answer.

  261. Good answer.

  262. All right, well let me tell you

  263. what Jesus said, Petra, and then I'm

  264. gonna have you help me 'cause some

  265. of these people out here can barely

  266. remember being kids, but do you

  267. remember what it's like to be a kid?

  268. Okay, good.

  269. Then we'll be in good shape.

  270. Alright, so Jesus said, truly I tell

  271. you, unless you change and become

  272. like little children, you will never

  273. enter the kingdom of heaven unless you

  274. change and become like little children.

  275. You'll never enter the kingdom of heaven.

  276. Therefore, he said whoever humbles himself

  277. like this little child is the greatest.

  278. In the kingdom of Heaven.

  279. So even if moms and dads are

  280. pretty cool, you can always

  281. say, Hey, kids are the greatest.

  282. Woo.

  283. You think that's a good move?

  284. Yeah.

  285. I'm with you.

  286. I'm with you.

  287. Well, let's take these words up here,

  288. Petra, like this little child, this

  289. phrase, and then I'm gonna grab just

  290. two of those words like a child,

  291. and we're gonna flip it around and

  292. we're gonna talk about childlike

  293. and what it means to be childlike.

  294. Would you say as a 5-year-old, that

  295. you're kind of a professional kid, you'd

  296. kind of know how to do it Pretty good?

  297. Yes.

  298. Yes.

  299. Okay.

  300. Okay.

  301. What, what do you do really well as a kid?

  302. Like what's some of your best

  303. kid skills, do you think?

  304. I like jumping on the trampoline.

  305. Jumping on a trampoline.

  306. So what Jesus was saying is, unless

  307. you jump on a trampoline, you will

  308. never enter the kingdom of heaven.

  309. Wait, I don't know if

  310. he's talking about that.

  311. Oh, you think so?

  312. Hey, do you think in heaven we'll

  313. be able to jump on trampolines?

  314. No clouds?

  315. No.

  316. No.

  317. Well, I don't know about

  318. you, but I'm gonna be jumping

  319. on a trampoline in heaven.

  320. I'm just saying.

  321. 'cause I think it's

  322. gonna be pretty awesome.

  323. But when Jesus talks about

  324. being a kid, he doesn't mean

  325. be silly and goofy like a kid.

  326. He means childlike faith.

  327. And the faith of a child is a little

  328. bit different than the faith of an old

  329. person sometimes starting to get bored.

  330. Good.

  331. Okay.

  332. I was just checking.

  333. Whew.

  334. All right, so let's do this,

  335. Petra, I'm gonna put a word up

  336. here and I want to just get your

  337. professional kid opinion, okay?

  338. Because when I think about

  339. the faith of a child, I think

  340. of a lot of different stuff.

  341. But one thing I think

  342. about is this word trust.

  343. So let me ask you, and you gotta hold that

  344. mic really close so we have it officially.

  345. See those two people over

  346. there, what's their names again?

  347. Mom and dad, right?

  348. That's them.

  349. And then grandma's right beside them.

  350. Wow.

  351. Okay.

  352. That's a quite the row.

  353. Do you trust those people over there?

  354. Yes you do.

  355. Are you sure they're trustworthy?

  356. Yeah.

  357. Okay.

  358. Okay.

  359. Dumb question.

  360. Geez, my bad.

  361. My bad.

  362. So, um, what does it

  363. mean to trust your mom?

  364. Or you trust your dad?

  365. What are you saying when you say you trust

  366. them, you know that they are going to tell

  367. you what to do and then you have to do it?

  368. No.

  369. Yeah, that's a great answer.

  370. They are gonna tell you what to do.

  371. And I wanna put another word up there.

  372. Believe, and I'm curious

  373. if you know this or not.

  374. Petra, do you believe your mom

  375. and dad tell you the truth?

  376. Yes.

  377. Okay, good.

  378. That's a good answer.

  379. And when they tell you to do

  380. something, do you think they're

  381. doing it to ruin your day?

  382. How?

  383. Why are they telling you

  384. to do stuff, do you think?

  385. 'cause they love me and they

  386. don't want me getting hurt.

  387. Oh, that's a great answer.

  388. Yeah, they love you and they don't want

  389. you getting hurt right now this doesn't

  390. apply to you, but your brother Cassian,

  391. do you think he trusts mom and dad?

  392. Yes.

  393. Yes.

  394. Do you think he does what they say too?

  395. Pretty good.

  396. Oh, that is good.

  397. Okay.

  398. I did not expect that answer.

  399. Okay.

  400. What about Tyrion?

  401. Tarian seems like he's

  402. pretty innocent over there.

  403. Is he doing a pretty good job as a baby?

  404. Yes, he's got it pretty well mastered.

  405. Okay, that's good.

  406. Well, trusting and believing your

  407. mom and dad is kind of a big deal.

  408. 'cause they're gonna tell you the truth

  409. and the reason they ask us to do stuff is

  410. actually because they love us, not because

  411. they're just trying to ruin our lives.

  412. Could you say this for me real quick?

  413. Pay attention to that.

  414. Teenagers.

  415. Go ahead.

  416. Jesus.

  417. The, our mom and dads don't

  418. want to ruin us, but they don't

  419. wanna hurt us from our days.

  420. They wanna keep us safe.

  421. See, just say teenagers at the end.

  422. Teenagers.

  423. Teenagers.

  424. Good.

  425. Okay.

  426. We got it.

  427. Good work.

  428. Good work, man.

  429. I gotta be honest.

  430. I think you listened better than

  431. most everybody else did to that.

  432. That was good.

  433. That was good.

  434. So then there's another word

  435. I was thinking of, Petra.

  436. The word depend, like I'll bet as a kid

  437. you have to depend on your mom or dad.

  438. Is that true?

  439. What kind of stuff do you depend

  440. on your mom and dad to do?

  441. Like around your house or out

  442. in the park or stuff like that?

  443. Can you think of anything

  444. that you depend on them for?

  445. I like when they just sit so we can

  446. clean up the whole house for them.

  447. Whoa.

  448. Yeah.

  449. You like when they sit down and let

  450. you guys clean up the whole house?

  451. That is, that is really special.

  452. Yeah.

  453. Yeah.

  454. Wow.

  455. Petra, do you know child labor laws?

  456. Are you familiar with any of those?

  457. Probably not.

  458. Probably not.

  459. What a fun game.

  460. Laundry.

  461. Oh, you got your badge.

  462. Thank you, Theresa.

  463. Yeah.

  464. Child advocacy.

  465. That's good.

  466. That's good.

  467. Do you think you could come over and

  468. show Jed what you know about this?

  469. Cool.

  470. Cool.

  471. Okay.

  472. Uh, so I was gonna ask, you know, do

  473. mom and dad maybe make you dinner?

  474. But it sounds like you do that yourself.

  475. Oh no, you don't make your own dinner.

  476. Who makes the best dinner at your house?

  477. My dad.

  478. Your dad.

  479. Ooh, let's go.

  480. Okay.

  481. He's probably gonna give you

  482. some extra candy for that one.

  483. But, um, depending on mom and

  484. dad to take care of us, that's an

  485. important thing kids do, don't they?

  486. And then they also kind of expect mom

  487. and dad to keep 'em safe probably too.

  488. Right?

  489. Like if you go to a park or you go

  490. somewhere with your mom or dad or

  491. maybe even just around the house, do

  492. your mom and dad try to keep you safe?

  493. Mm-hmm.

  494. How do they try to keep you safe?

  495. Do you have any ideas kind

  496. of stuff they try to keep you

  497. from trying to do things bad.

  498. They'll probably hurt you and

  499. the, uh, or people who try to

  500. take you and put you in prison.

  501. Ooh, yes.

  502. People who try to take you

  503. and put you, there's a lot of

  504. robbers out there and bad guys.

  505. Yep.

  506. Stranger danger is good.

  507. Here at White Rock, we're all a stranger.

  508. That's, that's the danger.

  509. Uh, yeah.

  510. Super good.

  511. Super good.

  512. So safety and security, that's

  513. something we get from moms and dads.

  514. How about this word, children

  515. listen to their mom and dad.

  516. Is that true?

  517. Yes.

  518. How good do you listen

  519. to your mom and dad?

  520. Like sometimes I like to, sometimes

  521. you like to listen to your mom and dad.

  522. Okay.

  523. How about Caspian?

  524. He's not over here yet, but does

  525. Caspian like to listen to mom and dad?

  526. Pretty good.

  527. Yeah.

  528. Oh.

  529. Oh no.

  530. Why are mom and dad shaking their head?

  531. No.

  532. No, you're just being a

  533. good big sister right now.

  534. Good work.

  535. Good work.

  536. 'cause you know, one day Caspian

  537. will watch this recording on

  538. YouTube and be like, what?

  539. You ratted me up.

  540. So another word for listening to

  541. mom and dad is this word obey.

  542. Do you like to obey?

  543. Mm-hmm.

  544. Oh, all the time.

  545. Oh, because I'm on, I meant, but.

  546. I just want you to know

  547. Jesus sees you even at home.

  548. Not just right here, but,

  549. but still a good answer.

  550. Try to obey all the time.

  551. You are a much better kid than I was.

  552. I did not always obey.

  553. Sometimes I disobeyed.

  554. What happens when you disobey?

  555. When you're a kid, you

  556. will get in trouble.

  557. Mm. And have to clean the

  558. whole house by yourself

  559. without your team.

  560. Um, I'm gonna put this word up here.

  561. Um, because I think listening and

  562. obeying, we don't always get it perfect,

  563. but kids at least try to obey, right?

  564. Try to obey.

  565. This would be another good time

  566. just to say the word teenagers.

  567. Just for fun.

  568. You can say teenagers.

  569. No.

  570. No.

  571. Fair enough.

  572. Now you're a teenager

  573. with, with applauding.

  574. Yeah.

  575. That made Jed very happy.

  576. And how about this last word as

  577. we think about childlike faith.

  578. What about this word love?

  579. Mm-hmm.

  580. Mm-hmm.

  581. Good.

  582. So love.

  583. You think kids like,

  584. love their mom and dad?

  585. Mm-hmm.

  586. A lot.

  587. How much do you think?

  588. Um, like 1200%.

  589. 1200%. Which is a lot of love.

  590. That is legit.

  591. That was legit.

  592. So this is it important, well actually

  593. this is maybe a weird question.

  594. Why do you love your mom and dad?

  595. So I like when they give me

  596. things that sometimes I'm not to.

  597. Wow.

  598. So you love your mom and dad

  599. because sometimes they give you

  600. things you're not supposed to have.

  601. This is a safe place, Petra.

  602. Um, what kind of things?

  603. You know, like something, sometimes

  604. they'll, lemme have like special treats.

  605. Oh, special treats.

  606. Okay.

  607. Good.

  608. Good clarification, Petra.

  609. Good clarification.

  610. Hey, how about a huge round of

  611. applause for Petra, helping us think

  612. a little bit about childlike faith.

  613. Great job, kiddo.

  614. Thank you very much, man.

  615. There you go.

  616. Outta the mouths of

  617. babes and infants, right?

  618. That's what scripture says.

  619. Can't get a better picture than that.

  620. Children are a gift from the Lord.

  621. And let me just go back and

  622. just say this of his children

  623. and trying to follow Jesus.

  624. Our Heavenly Father loves us, like

  625. a father loves his children, and

  626. we're in a child father relationship

  627. with our Heavenly Father, and

  628. there ought to be elements.

  629. That doesn't mean that we're super

  630. naive and young and and, and don't

  631. know anything, but even where we're

  632. at in our stage of life, we ought to

  633. trust that our Heavenly Father has

  634. good in store and cares about us.

  635. And his motivation isn't

  636. just to ruin our life.

  637. It's actually to keep us safe,

  638. and to protect us, and to help us.

  639. We read God's word a lot of

  640. times and we're like, oh,

  641. man, taking away all the fun.

  642. No, maybe taking away all the poison and

  643. the danger and the misery and the pain.

  644. That's what a good parent does, right?

  645. We need to trust our heavenly Father,

  646. and sometimes the devil tricks us

  647. into trying to depend on ourselves

  648. and be self-reliant and independent.

  649. But the truth is, man, we need the Lord in

  650. our life to guide, to direct, to protect.

  651. To keep us safe and we ought to

  652. pray over that and, and relish that.

  653. Not, not let the devil tell us

  654. that that's some kind of a, oh

  655. man, you're not strong enough.

  656. You're not, no man.

  657. We need our heavenly father

  658. and his protection, his safety.

  659. And then, oh, the hardest

  660. part of being a kid.

  661. Obeying your mom and dad.

  662. Right?

  663. Petra did a great job on the stage in

  664. front of Jesus and everyone, but let's

  665. be honest, obeying is hard sometimes,

  666. and sometimes we just want to be

  667. disobedient, rebellious and do our thing.

  668. But God calls us to be people who

  669. listen and obey and it's almost always

  670. in our best interest that we do.

  671. Um, though the enemy would

  672. tell us something otherwise.

  673. And ultimately love.

  674. If you don't believe kids love their

  675. parents, you gotta hang out on Sunday

  676. school, on a Mother's day weekend, making

  677. cards love, love, love, love, right?

  678. It's the big word in every card.

  679. 'cause there's a love relationship

  680. between a child and their parent

  681. and there ought to be one there.

  682. And when these things are

  683. missing, we see kids act out.

  684. We see people struggle and

  685. maybe there's holes in some of

  686. our own experience growing up.

  687. But the reality is this, that

  688. our heavenly father loves us and

  689. invites us into relationship.

  690. And he says, unless you live like one

  691. of my kids, you're just gonna miss

  692. it 'cause you're gonna be somewhere

  693. totally different and wandering.

  694. But my kids come into my house and

  695. they connect and in relationship with

  696. me, get to experience all the good

  697. things that I have in store for them.

  698. Children are a gift from the Lord.

  699. A gift, a treasure, and

  700. sometimes it doesn't work out

  701. physiologically to have kids.

  702. Sometimes cool adoption things,

  703. and sometimes things just happen

  704. in this life that are tricky.

  705. But man, make no mistake,

  706. children are a gift from the Lord.

  707. And we live in a culture that says

  708. the opposite a lot of times, and

  709. treats kids as well, less than ideal,

  710. important, valuable, significant.

  711. Um, in fact, I wanted to show you

  712. like a ten second clip from this guy.

  713. Uh, you may know him.

  714. His name is Elon Musk.

  715. I was hoping to get into a big political

  716. fight this morning in church if we could.

  717. No, I'm just kidding.

  718. Uh, forget about Elon Musk in

  719. a political sense for a minute.

  720. And I want you just to think about Elon

  721. Musk, the richest man in the world, the

  722. guy who has everything that you could

  723. ever think you want, that you could

  724. ever think would make you happy, that

  725. you could ever think would bring you

  726. joy and purpose and value in this life.

  727. This is a clip.

  728. Uh, he talks a lot about abortion.

  729. Here's, I cut a bunch of clips

  730. of this together, just a couple

  731. seconds of him saying some things.

  732. But here what he says,

  733. this is pretty interesting.

  734. Um, and, and the reality is

  735. there's, there's nothing greater

  736. than having a kid, you know?

  737. Um, I, I get, you know, more joy in my

  738. life for my kids than anything else.

  739. That it is a very natural thing, uh,

  740. that you will love your children.

  741. Um, so, so in fact, uh, having a child

  742. is so we sta what will make you happier

  743. than anything else in your life, ever.

  744. So he's stammering a little bit.

  745. Great delivery.

  746. But the point is simply

  747. this, my name is Elon Musk.

  748. I can buy happiness, I can buy joy, I

  749. can buy purpose, I can buy meaning in

  750. any capacity this world has to offer.

  751. But you know, where the greatest joy

  752. and the greatest happiness comes from?

  753. Following God's simple design for husbands

  754. and wives and family, to experience the

  755. meaning of love and joy and purpose.

  756. What a cool thing.

  757. You can't buy that no matter

  758. how much money you have.

  759. And here's a guy who has reached the

  760. pinnacle of financial success and has

  761. any toy and any treasure you could

  762. imagine, and he's saying kids are

  763. more valuable, getting to be a dad.

  764. More joy, more happiness.

  765. Don't miss that.

  766. That's significant.

  767. Children are a gift from the Lord.

  768. Well, we're gonna move into a

  769. time of child dedication, and

  770. here's what we do at White Rock.

  771. We believe in believers baptism, which

  772. means we baptize people in water when

  773. they're at an age where they can make

  774. a conscious decision that they want

  775. to be baptized in obedience to Jesus.

  776. That's a believer's baptism.

  777. They believe in Jesus as their savior.

  778. So we don't practice infant baptism.

  779. Um, there's different groups that do

  780. that, but that's just more of a symbolic

  781. thing because I don't know a lot of

  782. these babies who are making conscious

  783. decisions to follow Jesus Christ.

  784. They're just trying to get.

  785. To the next bottle.

  786. And that's the thing, right?

  787. Maybe you are too.

  788. I get it.

  789. But, um, that's problematic

  790. on a lot of fronts.

  791. Um, but we do something called child

  792. dedication, which is an effort on

  793. behalf of families to say, I want to

  794. try to train up a child in the way

  795. he should go so that when he is old

  796. or she, they won't depart from it.

  797. I wanna try to raise my

  798. children to follow the Lord.

  799. I wanna raise them in an environment

  800. where Jesus is honored and they

  801. have an opportunity to grow and

  802. experience faith for themselves.

  803. And I'm gonna dedicate myself to that task

  804. and dedicate my children to that task.

  805. And as a congregation, we get

  806. a chance to stand in a covenant

  807. relationship with that as well.

  808. It's no small task.

  809. Training up a child.

  810. Fathers, don't miss this.

  811. It's not moms, don't provoke your children

  812. to anger, but instead bring them up.

  813. In the discipline and instruction

  814. of the Lord Dads, we've gotta

  815. raise our kids to follow God

  816. and his principles and his ways.

  817. In fact, Deuteronomy says we're talking

  818. about God's principles to our children.

  819. When we sit at home, when we walk

  820. along the road, when we lie down, when

  821. we get up on and on and on and on.

  822. That we are to teach and to train and

  823. to disciple our kids and help them

  824. learn what it means to follow Jesus.

  825. Well, I'm gonna invite Jamie up here

  826. 'cause we have several families that

  827. would like to do child dedication this

  828. morning, and logistics is my specialty.

  829. Just kidding.

  830. Jamie is gonna come up and make

  831. sure we have the right people in

  832. the right places at the right times.

  833. Yeah.

  834. Do you want that?

  835. I don't think so.

  836. I might.

  837. It depends on if I get this thing

  838. ripped outta my ear by cute little

  839. kids, which is pretty normal.

  840. So what we're gonna do,

  841. we're gonna invite, uh.

  842. Austin and Haley, Blake and

  843. Zane and Vivian up front.

  844. If you guys wanna sneak up here first.

  845. I'm only rolling up my sleeves

  846. 'cause we're getting to work here.

  847. It's not a thing, right?

  848. Yes.

  849. Thank you.

  850. Perfect.

  851. So I thought in the interest of time for

  852. everyone, I'm gonna read this introductory

  853. part and then we'll walk through some

  854. simple questions for you guys and

  855. for each family that's gonna come up.

  856. And then we're gonna, I'm gonna invite you

  857. as a congregation to stand in agreement,

  858. uh, with trying to help be the influence

  859. for Christ for all these little turkeys.

  860. And then we're gonna pray a prayer

  861. blessing and we're gonna keep rotating

  862. through all of the fun this morning.

  863. This is why we had to have Petra come

  864. help to set the stage with kids because

  865. kids on the stage are pretty fun.

  866. Hey, hey, tell Zane to quit

  867. acting like his grandpa.

  868. We gotta do some stuff here.

  869. Okay?

  870. Alright.

  871. So to all of you families who are

  872. dedicating your children today, this

  873. is the introduction that I won't read

  874. to each of you, but hear these words

  875. as children, we're welcomed by Jesus.

  876. So they're welcome as part of this

  877. congregation, as a new member of

  878. a family in this body, they're

  879. an integral part of this church.

  880. They're recipients of its blessings

  881. and mission and experience,

  882. its fellowship and traditions.

  883. As parents bring their little

  884. ones in presentation to the Lord.

  885. We as a congregation covenant to

  886. surround the child and their family

  887. with the support of the people of God.

  888. In this dedication today, parents publicly

  889. commit themselves to provide a home in

  890. which their child or children will grow

  891. up in the nurture and admonition of

  892. the Lord and where he or she or they.

  893. We'll learn of Christ and his ways

  894. and be encouraged to receive him as

  895. Savior and Lord of their own life.

  896. And it's important to be reminded

  897. of parents that you are the child's

  898. primary pastor and the greatest

  899. influence for following Jesus

  900. and walking in righteousness.

  901. With all that said, Austin and

  902. Haley, God has been gracious to you

  903. in giving you the gift of Vivian.

  904. Do you now present her

  905. before God in dedication?

  906. If so, answer.

  907. We do.

  908. We do.

  909. Is it your purpose to bring up

  910. Vivian in the ways of the Lord?

  911. If so, answer it is.

  912. It's And will you continue to

  913. love each other and Vivian so that

  914. she will experience the meaning

  915. of trust and love and grace?

  916. If so, answer, we will.

  917. We'll, and Zane can be

  918. a part of it too, bro.

  919. Yes.

  920. Austin and Haley, will you

  921. endeavor to provide a Christian

  922. home and atmosphere for Vivian?

  923. Will you teach her in the Christian

  924. faith and way and surround her with

  925. Christian influences through the

  926. church and other relationships and

  927. encourage her to faith in Jesus Christ?

  928. If so, answer With God's help, we will.

  929. Alright, well congregation, I'm

  930. gonna invite you as a sign of

  931. Covenanting, is that a word?

  932. Covenant relationship together to stand

  933. and, uh, we will pray over Vivian a

  934. prayer of blessing because while it

  935. takes a village is a nice cliche, the

  936. truth is it takes the whole family of

  937. God to bring impact and influence in

  938. the lives of these little gals and guys.

  939. So come here, squirt.

  940. Hey Vivian, can I see you?

  941. Oh, how we doing?

  942. Yeah, how are you?

  943. There's a lot of fun stuff to grab.

  944. I know.

  945. Yeah.

  946. All right, well, let's pray.

  947. Dear Jesus, thank you so much for

  948. Vivian, for her little heart and

  949. the joy that she is to her family.

  950. Thank you so much for your love for

  951. her and Father, this day we dedicate

  952. her to you and we ask Lord that you

  953. would protect her and watch over her.

  954. That you would help her as she grows

  955. strong and as she grows in physical ways,

  956. but also Lord, spiritually, that you would

  957. walk with her all the days of her life,

  958. and Lord, that she would come to a place,

  959. all of us as her, where she would choose

  960. you as Lord and Savior, help her mom and

  961. dad and all of us as her church family to

  962. shine brightly and love well, for all the

  963. days of her life, we dedicate her to you.

  964. In the name of the Father and

  965. the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  966. Amen.

  967. Good job.

  968. You wanna just hang out for a

  969. while because this could be fun

  970. on stage.

  971. And they go, yeah.

  972. What should we do next?

  973. I don't really wanna stop

  974. 'cause it's kind of fun.

  975. I don't get to hold babies a lot.

  976. Jed's very big.

  977. He doesn't get in my arms

  978. anymore like he should.

  979. All right, well I'll give you back to mom.

  980. There we go.

  981. You may be seated congregation, but

  982. you're gonna have more standing to do.

  983. So we'll let you guys step down and

  984. then at the end we're gonna have

  985. everybody come up for a big picture.

  986. But for right now, we'll

  987. get you rolling on that.

  988. Jamie, who's next?

  989. You want Renee?

  990. Yeah.

  991. I didn't know if you had

  992. your list there, sorry.

  993. Alright.

  994. Derek and Renee Hancock are gonna

  995. sneak up here and bring Clinton,

  996. he's rolling around.

  997. Oh, there we go.

  998. Perfect.

  999. I told Derrick there's a customary

1000. song that the father sings when

1001. the first child is dedicated.

1002. Um, and then he said, okay, so I

1003. backed off of that pretty quick.

  1004. Pretty quick.

1005. Let me just be honest.

  1006. Right there.

  1007. All right.

1008. So big guy looking sharp.

  1009. Yeah.

  1010. Love it.

1011. Alright, well you guys heard the

1012. introduction and the groundwork for what

1013. this call is to dedication, dedicating

1014. ourselves to raise these little guys

1015. and help Clinton in learning more

1016. and more about Jesus and being in an

1017. environment where he gets to experience

1018. all the love that God has for him.

  1019. Well, I have some questions I

1020. want to ask you and if you answer

1021. 'em right, we're gonna pray.

1022. So Derrick and Renee, God

1023. has been gracious to you in

1024. giving you the gift of Clinton.

1025. Do you now present Clinton

1026. before God and dedication to him?

  1027. If so, answer.

  1028. We do.

  1029. We do.

1030. And is it your purpose to bring up

1031. Clinton in the ways of the Lord?

1032. If so, answer It is.

  1033. It is.

1034. And will you continue to love each other

1035. and Clinton so that he will experience

1036. the meaning of trust and love and grace?

  1037. If so, answer.

  1038. We will, we will.

  1039. Yes.

1040. And will you endeavor to provide a

1041. Christian home and atmosphere for Clinton?

1042. Will you teach him in the Christian

1043. faith and way surrounding him with

1044. Christian influences through the chief?

1045. So answer with God's ships and encourage

1046. him to his own faith in Jesus Christ.

1047. If so, answer With God's help, we will.

  1048. We'll, there you go.

  1049. All right.

1050. Well, congregation, you know the

1051. drill if you'd stand in agreement

1052. with this family as we surround

1053. Clinton and Derek and Renee.

  1054. How we doing?

  1055. Big guy.

  1056. Oh, all right.

  1057. Oh man.

1058. This is gonna be fun, huh?

1059. You see all those people out there,

1060. they're pulling for you, and then

1061. you're gonna pull on that perfect segue.

1062. All right, well, let's pray.

1063. Dear Jesus, thank you so much for

1064. Clinton, for his little heart and his

1065. life and the bright light that he is.

1066. Thank you so much for the gift of him

1067. to Derrick and Renee and his whole

1068. family, his church, family, and Lord,

1069. we pray that you would walk beside him

1070. all the days of his life, that you would

1071. fill his little hearts with a love for

1072. you, that you would guide and direct

1073. his steps as he grows big and strong,

1074. both physically and spiritually, Lord.

1075. And I pray that you'd help his mom

1076. and dad to have wisdom, to know how to

1077. love well, and to lead and to teach.

1078. And God, I pray you'd help us as

1079. a congregation and church family

1080. to surround him with all the love

1081. and encouragement and support that

1082. he needs to come to faith in you.

1083. So this day we dedicate Clinton

1084. to you in the name of the Father

1085. and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  1086. Amen.

  1087. Amen.

  1088. Great job.

  1089. Alright.

  1090. Anything you wanna say?

  1091. Perfect.

  1092. Okay.

  1093. Alright.

1094. You guys can be seated.

  1095. Great job, big guy.

  1096. All right, thanks.

  1097. Showing all.

1098. Yeah, we'll get the shellings

1099. up here if you guys can.

1100. This is a two for one deal.

1101. You know, we don't always make this

1102. special, but, uh, it was a half

  1103. price Sunday, so that's, that's good.

  1104. Alright.

  1105. All right.

  1106. Got questions for them?

  1107. Yes.

  1108. Nope.

  1109. Nope, we're good.

1110. Well, yeah, I was gonna do

1111. 'em separate if that works.

  1112. Yeah, yeah.

1113. We will ask the questions one time deal.

1114. Meredith, let's just sit up here.

  1115. Yeah.

1116. Do you wanna sit up there?

  1117. Meredith?

  1118. Here.

1119. I'll take that thing from you.

1120. It's not really fair that

1121. Petro got to do it, right?

  1122. I mean, let's, let's, uh, whoops.

  1123. All right.

  1124. All right, guys.

1125. Man, this is a good picture right here.

1126. I just wonder how long we can be good.

1127. It's just sort of tempting to

1128. just see, you know, not long.

  1129. Not long.

  1130. Okay.

  1131. Okay, moving on.

  1132. Moving on.

1133. Alright guys, so Meredith and

1134. Reese are gonna be dedicated to

1135. Jesus today, and I'll ask you

1136. the questions one time for both.

  1137. How about that?

1138. And then we'll pray over each of 'em.

1139. That way we can blend this

  1140. into a productive time.

1141. So guys, God has been gracious

1142. to you in giving you the gift

1143. of both Meredith and Reese.

1144. And do you now present them

1145. before God and dedication to him?

  1146. If so, answer.

  1147. We do.

  1148. We do.

1149. And is it your purpose to bring them

1150. both up in the ways of the Lord?

1151. If so, answer is it's

  1152. what happened up there?

1153. What did happen up there?

  1154. That's a great question.

1155. Some of the guys at church built this

1156. place, so we should have a serious talk.

1157. Alright, Dan and Jen, will you continue

1158. to love each other and the child God

1159. has, uh, the children God has given

1160. you so that they will experience the

1161. meaning of trust and love and grace.

1162. If so, answer, we will and will you

1163. endeavor to provide a Christian home and

1164. atmosphere founding them, both Meredith

1165. and Reese, to teach them in the Christian

1166. faith and way surrounding them with

1167. Christian influences through the church

1168. and other relationships and encourage

1169. them to their own faith in Jesus Christ.

1170. If so, answer with God's help.

  1171. We will.

  1172. God's help.

  1173. We will.

1174. Alright, and White Rock family,

1175. if you're up for the challenge,

1176. this is, this is twice as much as

1177. last time, so think it through.

1178. But if you would stand in unison, we

1179. wanna pray and support and love you guys.

1180. All right, Reese, how about we start here?

1181. 'cause Meredith is doing such

1182. a good job sitting all right.

1183. I've always had a sweet spot for Reese.

1184. Since I first met her.

  1185. 'cause I really like Reese's cups,

1186. and that was a really good way to go.

1187. And there might be another,

1188. there might be another reason

1189. for the lineage of that name.

1190. But nothing, nothing comes to mind.

  1191. So let's pray.

1192. Lord Jesus, thank you so much for

1193. Reese and for her little heart.

1194. Thank you for her life and the gift

1195. that she is to her mom and dad.

1196. Lord, thank you for the opportunity to

1197. have her in life and Lord, the opportunity

1198. as sisters to walk and try to follow

1199. Jesus, the opportunity as a daughter

1200. to grow and faith in you and Jesus.

1201. I just pray that as she grows up big

1202. and strong, that you would speak life

1203. and love and hope into her heart, that

1204. you would draw her close to you, that

1205. physically as she grows, strong Lord,

1206. that her faith would grow strong in

1207. you, and that she would be a bright,

1208. shining light to the world around her.

1209. I pray that you would guide and

1210. direct her all the days of her life.

1211. And help her as she grows and becomes the

1212. young woman that you have in store for her

1213. one day to be impactful for your kingdom.

1214. We commit her to you and we

1215. dedicate her to you this day.

1216. In the name of the Father and

1217. the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  1218. Amen.

  1219. Great job.

  1220. Great job.

  1221. Whoa, super chill.

1222. Can I hold you Meredith?

  1223. Yes.

  1224. Alright.

1225. Last time I saw Meredith.

1226. Seems like you were going down a

1227. slide or something fun like that.

1228. You know what, we can sit right here

1229. and I can just sit right here because

1230. that sounds more fun to stand by Mom

1231. and dad and then I'll just do this, huh?

1232. Alright, well let's pray for you

1233. kiddo, and thanks for coming up and

1234. being here today with everybody.

  1235. Dear Jesus.

1236. Thank you so much for Meredith.

1237. Thank you for her spunk and her spirit.

1238. Lord, uh, you do big things.

  1239. Uh.

1240. When you mold and shape us more

1241. and more into your will and God,

1242. I'm thankful for her heart and what

1243. she brings to this world around us.

1244. And I pray, Lord, that as she grows more

1245. and more to become a faithful follower

1246. of you and love you with her whole

1247. heart, that you would use her in huge

1248. ways to impact the world around her.

1249. Thank you so much for the gift that

1250. she is as a big sister and a daughter.

1251. And Lord I pray that uh, you would

1252. bless her as she grows both physically

1253. and spiritually into the young lady

1254. that you have destined her to be.

1255. Help mom and dad for both of

1256. the adventures here that they

  1257. get with their daughters.

1258. Lord, help them and guide and

1259. direct their steps and help us as

1260. a church to love this family well.

1261. And thanks so much for the

1262. privilege of doing life with them.

1263. We commit Meredith to you

  1264. and dedication this day.

1265. In the name of the Father and

1266. the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  1267. Amen.

  1268. Great job, kiddo.

  1269. Gimme five.

  1270. Nice job.

1271. All right, you guys may be seated.

  1272. Thanks so much.

  1273. And sorry.

  1274. Yeah, Alan's,

  1275. Petra.

  1276. I feel like I've seen you

  1277. recently somewhere else.

1278. No, it was right here.

  1279. Okay.

1280. It's good to have all four

1281. of you here together today.

  1282. Yeah.

  1283. How are you?

  1284. Big guy?

  1285. Yep.

1286. That's the cook right there.

  1287. That's dad.

1288. And we heard all about that.

  1289. Yeah.

  1290. I'm sorry.

1291. I get distracted by these kids.

  1292. All right.

1293. Well, Caspian is joining in spirit.

1294. I. And supervised next door.

  1295. That's what I understand.

  1296. Okay.

  1297. Okay, we're, we're gonna

  1298. hedge our bets here.

  1299. Okay.

  1300. Alright.

1301. Well Dax and Jackie, they

  1302. say the third time's a charm.

1303. So I'm hoping this time, this time,

1304. well, such a gift to be able to

1305. do this three times with you guys.

1306. So Dax and Jackie, God has been gracious

1307. to you in giving you the gift of Tyrion.

1308. Do you now present him

  1309. before God in dedication?

  1310. If so, answer.

  1311. We do.

  1312. We do.

1313. And is it your purpose to bring

1314. ion up in the ways of the Lord?

1315. If so, answer It is.

  1316. It is.

1317. And will you continue to love each other

1318. anion so that he will experience the

1319. meaning of trust and love and grace?

  1320. If so, answer.

  1321. We will, we will.

1322. And will you endeavor to provide a

1323. Christian home and atmosphere for Tyrion?

  1324. Will you teach him?

1325. In the Christian faith in ways

  1326. surrounding him with Christian

1327. influences through the church and

1328. other relationships to encourage him

1329. to his own faith in Jesus Christ.

1330. If so, answer With God's help, we will.

1331. With God's help, we Alright,

1332. gonna, it comes a shock, but

1333. white rock, if you would, stand

1334. in unison and covenant together

1335. with Dax and Jackie, their family.

1336. And we're going to pray over tarian and

1337. excited about what God has in store.

  1338. Come here, big guy.

1339. Hey, can I hold you?

  1340. Oh, all right.

1341. Got so much more hair than me, man.

  1342. Totally not fair.

  1343. Totally not fair.

  1344. Alright, well, let's pray.

1345. Dear Jesus, thank you for tearing

1346. for his little life, his heart, for

1347. the gift that he is to his family,

1348. to his mom and dad, and what an

1349. awesome opportunity to get to do life.

1350. With a big sister and a big brother.

1351. And Lord, I pray that you would help

1352. him as he grows big and strong in

1353. spirit and physically, Lord, that you

1354. would just mold and shape his life to

1355. reflect your glory, that you'd guide and

1356. direct him and help him to be all that

1357. uh, you destined his life to be about.

1358. And Lord, I pray that he would walk

1359. faithfully with you and that he would

1360. know you as His Lord and Savior.

1361. I pray, Lord, that you would help his

1362. mom and dad guide and direct them with

1363. wisdom, discernment, and I pray, Lord,

1364. you'd help his big sister and big Brother

1365. too in that process and help us as a

1366. church to love well and surround him with

1367. the support and encouragement he needs.

1368. Lord, we thank you for tearing

1369. and the gift that he is and we

1370. dedicate him this day to you.

1371. In the name of the Father and

1372. the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  1373. Amen.

  1374. Great job, man.

  1375. Same thing.

1376. I'm just noticing he has the same look

1377. as dad has when I'm talking to him.

1378. You just kinda, all right.

  1379. Congratulations you guys.

  1380. Are we done?

  1381. I'm, I think we're done.

1382. Alright, well, hey, while you're still

  1383. standing, I think a standing ovation's

1384. appropriate for all of these families and

1385. uh, well, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

  1386. Jackie,

1387. I meant to say, as the families who

1388. just did dedication, make their way to

1389. the platform so we can get a picture

1390. with everybody and send them off.

  1391. Unless, unless everybody

  1392. just bailed already.

  1393. That happens too.

1394. Come on up, guys, and we'll

1395. spread out across this platform.

1396. It is a awesome thing to get to

1397. raise our children for the Lord

1398. and get to experience all the joy.

1399. I don't know how you feel about Elon

1400. Musk, but I think he kind of crushed it.

1401. There is no greater joy than getting

1402. to be a mom or dad and to raise this

1403. incredible gift of kids for him.

1404. So super excited about that.

1405. Let's pray and we'll wrap up here.

1406. Lord Jesus, thank you for

  1407. all of these families.

1408. Thank you for the design of family

1409. that gives us love and joy and purpose.

1410. Thank you so much for the gift of

1411. getting to be your children and

1412. being loved by our Heavenly Father.

1413. Lord, I pray for amazing days and

1414. tremendous impact in all eternity

1415. because of these little squirts up here

1416. on the platform and their families.

1417. And God, I pray that you would

1418. walk with us this week, bring

  1419. us strength and encouragement.

1420. Thanks so much for your love.

  1421. In Jesus' name, amen.

1422. Have a great day, white Rock.

1423. Make sure you come greet these people.
