  1. All right.

  2. It is.

  3. Race day sounds more like

  4. mosquitoes buzzing in Minnesota

  5. than it does race cars.

  6. I'm not gonna lie to you there.

  7. Jesus, awesome in power.

  8. You know, 350,000 people are standing,

  9. or probably sitting passed out by

  10. now, I don't know, in bleachers

  11. around an oval track cheering for

  12. their race team and race car drivers

  13. to be champions and victorious, and

  14. to be immortalized for all time.

  15. But you know, we serve.

  16. The king of kings and Lord of Lords,

  17. the savior, the conqueror over death

  18. and hell victorious for all time.

  19. The ultimate victory lane, right?

  20. The ultimate winner circle Jesus,

  21. who did a burnout over death and

  22. stands as victorious for all time.

  23. And that's who we worship.

  24. And I don't begrudge anybody who wants

  25. to watch guys driving and turn and left.

  26. That's pretty cool stuff.

  27. But at the end of the day, I'm

  28. thankful that I can cheer for the

  29. savior who has overcome everything

  30. and let's us be a part of that.

  31. Well, let's race day in Indiana.

  32. And uh, I've been here for

  33. like, what, 20 something years.

  34. I don't know how long.

  35. And before I came here, I didn't

  36. know anything about racing.

  37. And now that I've been here like

  38. 25 years-ish or whatever, I still

  39. don't really know much about racing.

  40. I'll be real honest with you.

  41. I'm like the least qualified

  42. guy to talk about racing.

  43. I, I have learned a lot over the years.

  44. Two documentaries have really been

  45. inspirational in my life, helping

  46. me understand some of the ins

  47. and outs of how uh, racing works.

  48. The first one I learned a lot about

  49. nascar, um, from this documentary called,

  50. uh, cars by Disney with Lightning McQueen.

  51. I learned about pit stops and I

  52. learned about, that's about all

  53. I really can remember, but like

  54. some stuff you know about racing.

  55. And then thankfully someone came out

  56. with this awesome documentary that

  57. really helped 'cause it was about

  58. Indianapolis in the 500 right Turbo.

  59. And so after watching these two

  60. documentaries, I feel very well

  61. equipped to unpack racing for you today.

  62. And, uh, maybe make a few

  63. metaphors and a few tie-ins.

  64. Ladies, last week while you were on

  65. retreat, uh, we did this to the stage.

  66. And honestly it was so much work.

  67. We were like, we gotta get

  68. two weeks outta this mess.

  69. Right?

  70. That's probably the bottom line.

  71. So we put up some streamers and

  72. decided to have a little fun with

  73. this, uh, racing kind of imagery today.

  74. Um, I don't know if you're into racing,

  75. I would imagine that if you're super

  76. hardcore racing, you're probably

  77. one of the White Rock people who

  78. are down at the race watching later.

  79. We know who you are, we're taking names.

  80. Uh, but if you're here this morning,

  81. it might be that racing is something

  82. you know a little bit about,

  83. maybe don't care that much about.

  84. Maybe you love it.

  85. I don't know.

  86. Either way, thanks for being here this

  87. morning as we worship and we celebrate

  88. and I'm gonna try to unpack a few thoughts

  89. that I've been chewing on about racing

  90. and this whole walking in faith with

  91. Jesus and being in relationship with him.

  92. 'cause I think there's

  93. some interesting tie-ins.

  94. I dunno if this all started on our

  95. men's retreat a few weeks ago with

  96. the whole racing vibe that Jesse

  97. came and shared with us and the Indy

  98. 500 being here and all these things.

  99. But just there's a lot

  100. of really interesting.

  101. Thoughts that are tied to

  102. this that at least have been

  103. bouncing around in my head.

  104. And you can disagree.

  105. That's totally fair.

  106. Jamie often does, but she's

  107. homesick today so she can't

  108. say a whole lot from this room.

  109. Alright, well, let me talk about a couple

  110. of key things as it relates to Indy 500

  111. and uh, see if this makes some sense.

  112. This idea here of qualifying

  113. race teams have to do

  114. qualifying laps, right?

  115. For their poll position.

  116. I don't know if you've paid attention

  117. to this often, but this week there's

  118. been a lot in the news, or maybe it

  119. was last week, about the Penske Racing

  120. team and some modifications on some

  121. parts of their cars that maybe gave them

  122. advantage in qualifying a and maybe even

  123. in the races over the last year or so.

  124. So much so that the Penske race

  125. team had all their drivers, at least

  126. last I understood this to be the

  127. case, that they were moved to the

  128. very back row of the Indy 500, which

  129. you might be like, that's cool.

  130. I like the back row at church, Chris.

  131. Right?

  132. Totally cool.

  133. But it's actually not as cool

  134. because no one has ever won the

  135. Indy 500 from the back row ever.

  136. At least that's what I was, I read

  137. somebody said that they're wrong.

  138. So am I. But it's kind of a big

  139. punishment for these guys and Penske

  140. fired like his top three guys in his whole

  141. company, which was pretty significant.

  142. It's kind of a really embarrassing

  143. black mark for his race team.

  144. But people do all kinds of things to

  145. try to qualify, to get an edge, to get

  146. the position that they want, or even

  147. to qualify to be in the race, right?

  148. You gotta have the right specs, you

  149. gotta have the right equipment, you gotta

  150. have the right speed and performance.

  151. You gotta have a lot of things go your

  152. way to get the right spots in the Indy

  153. 500 to qualify for this epic race, the

  154. greatest spectacle in racing and have a

  155. shot at being a champion, one thing that

  156. you really gotta have is money, right?

  157. Because let's be honest, this is

  158. a multimillion dollar industry

  159. and these guys are really actually

  160. driving private jets around a track a

  161. couple hundred miles an hour, right?

  162. Like these guys are not driving your car

  163. and my car around a track in the oval.

  164. This is millions and millions and

  165. millions of dollars worth of equipment.

  166. Not to mention millions and millions of

  167. dollars worth of expense just to be in

  168. the race and participate in the Indy 500.

  169. You gotta have a lot of

  170. money to make this play out.

  171. You gotta have deep, deep pockets to even

  172. have access to be part of the Indy 500.

  173. You have to.

  174. In fact, it helps to have something

  175. like this called sponsorship, right?

  176. Where maybe a company or an organization

  177. or an individual sponsors you as a

  178. racer and sponsors your race team.

  179. And this might be the only part you

  180. are tracking if you hate racing.

  181. It's why the colors of the cars are so

  182. pretty and varied and amazing, right?

  183. Because different companies with their

  184. different colors and their logos, and

  185. their images all over all their vehicles

  186. and race suits and trailers, they're

  187. sponsoring the racers and they're

  188. getting a little bit of, you know,

  189. notoriety and publicity out of the deal.

  190. Otherwise, it's not

  191. worth them doing right.

  192. So we have these three big pieces that

  193. I think are important parts of how this

  194. race just south of us is happening here.

  195. And I wanna think a minute about money

  196. and qualifying and sponsorship as it

  197. relates to this incredible opportunity.

  198. We have to be in relationship with Jesus.

  199. God gives us an opportunity to be part of

  200. an eternal race team that is incredible

  201. and competes at the highest level.

  202. In fact, one that, let's be honest, is

  203. gonna end up in Victory Lane just saying.

  204. And if you're lactose intolerant,

  205. you can drink the milk in heaven.

  206. I'm hoping, just saying there is a

  207. championship, wreath and trophy, maybe

  208. crown, we'll touch on that awaiting

  209. those who are on God's race team.

  210. And we get invited into that

  211. space, but very different than

  212. the Indy 500, these things.

  213. Play out significantly differently for us.

  214. Let's talk money for just a second.

  215. Um, if you want to be part of God's

  216. race team, if you wanna be part of his

  217. family and invited into relationship

  218. with him, you gotta have money.

  219. You gotta give in that

  220. offering basket back there.

  221. I'm just kidding.

  222. You don't have to.

  223. But

  224. if some of you think that's true,

  225. just go ahead and get up now.

  226. We'll wait.

  227. No, I'm just kidding.

  228. Um,

  229. so many times over the years,

  230. the church gets accused of being

  231. consumed with money, right?

  232. Or that God is after your money.

  233. Listen, listen, as Tony and I were

  234. talking today a minute ago, right?

  235. Like God owns the cattle

  236. on a thousand hills.

  237. He can write some pretty nice checks

  238. when he wants to, when he needs to.

  239. Maybe there's a lesson in there

  240. that he doesn't need to or

  241. want to because we shouldn't.

  242. But beyond that point, God

  243. doesn't need our money.

  244. Way too often over the years,

  245. people get consumed with, we have

  246. to pay our way into God's good

  247. graces, pay our way into access.

  248. And there's been times over the

  249. years where the church world as

  250. a whole has gotten caught up or

  251. even in pockets manipulating that.

  252. Listen, God does want you to be faithful.

  253. Lemme just pause there.

  254. God wants us to be people who

  255. tithe, who give 10% of everything

  256. we have to him in obedience.

  257. Not because he needs our money,

  258. but because he wants our heart.

  259. And he knows.

  260. He knows what owns your heart.

  261. And when you're faithful in the

  262. financial things, he knows you'll

  263. be faithful in the other things.

  264. They're even more important and

  265. he doesn't need your money, but he

  266. also knows how much money holds you.

  267. Right?

  268. You know, part of what God's plan is for

  269. us to be generous and to tithe and to give

  270. offerings to him is because he wants to

  271. help break the bondage money has over you.

  272. That's a gift.

  273. That's not a punishment to us.

  274. He's trying to help us.

  275. By saying, Hey, you don't need to

  276. be consumed with this currency.

  277. You need to be consumed with me.

  278. I got all the currency you'll ever need.

  279. Right?

  280. But there is nothing that we can do

  281. financially to get into God's race team.

  282. There's nothing, scripture says this

  283. in Roman 6 23, for the wages of sin is

  284. death, but the gift of God is eternal

  285. life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

  286. The wages of sin is death.

  287. If you're like me and you're human,

  288. you have a bank account, you got

  289. one locked up, it's, it's online.

  290. It's in the eternal cloud, but that

  291. account registers a big fat zero

  292. when it comes to heavenly currency

  293. because the wages that I've earned

  294. and you've earned because of sin,

  295. those wages are death, and you can't

  296. buy life with wages worth nothing.

  297. You can't come to God and be like,

  298. Hey God, look at what I've earned.

  299. Look what I've got.

  300. It's worthless.

  301. There is no value on this earth

  302. that gets us access to God.

  303. No amount of gold or rubies or diamonds

  304. or cash or credit or Bitcoin, like none

  305. of that stuff gives us any access to God.

  306. In fact, we see over here in Acts

  307. eight 20, when Peter talks about, or

  308. talks to Simon, the Soer, he says,

  309. may your money be destroyed with you

  310. for thinking God's gift can be bought.

  311. People have always thought, man, if I

  312. just have enough money and I give enough

  313. money and I put enough money towards

  314. things, I'm gonna get access to God

  315. and I'm gonna have access to him, and

  316. I'm gonna have a way to eternal life.

  317. 'cause look at what I did with the money

  318. and how I gave and how generous I was.

  319. We had a lot of people who are

  320. philanthropists for a lot of bad

  321. reasons and bad causes that have

  322. nothing to do with honoring the Lord.

  323. God has called us to be people

  324. who hold money with an open hand.

  325. 'cause it's his and what he wants,

  326. he takes and where he puts it,

  327. he puts it not with closed fists

  328. that say, no, God, this is mine.

  329. Stay away.

  330. Right?

  331. You can't buy your way into heaven.

  332. There's no chance you can't get access

  333. because you have enough financial

  334. resource when you're just paying with

  335. crud and junk that he doesn't even need.

  336. This is an interesting idea though,

  337. qualifying, and this is really what got

  338. me started down this whole crazy ordeal

  339. because this idea of qualifying means

  340. to fulfill necessary conditions based

  341. on performance to fulfill necessary

  342. conditions based on performance.

  343. I dunno how many people I talk to who

  344. are like, man, I'm not good enough

  345. to, to be a, a follower of Jesus.

  346. I'm not good enough to go to God.

  347. I'm not good enough to go to church.

  348. Satan's done a great job of deceiving.

  349. What the requirements and the

  350. necessary conditions are to

  351. qualify to be on God's race team.

  352. See, here's what scripture teaches us.

  353. It says this in Romans three 10.

  354. There's no one righteous, not even one.

  355. And then you're like, well,

  356. what about Sandy and Lamar?

  357. Right?

  358. They've been doing this a long time.

  359. They must be righteous.

  360. And then Sandy says, Nope, not him.

  361. Right?

  362. That's they.

  363. Thank you, guys.

  364. The reality is, none of us,

  365. none of us are righteous.

  366. None of us are good enough

  367. for God, not any of us.

  368. And yet, Satan gets us into this mindset

  369. that we can't go to God, or we can't

  370. access God, or we can't join his team

  371. because we haven't quite got ourselves

  372. cleaned up or put together enough

  373. to be, you know, acceptable to him.

  374. We haven't quite met the criteria to

  375. be part of God's race team and invited

  376. into his family, but it's not true.

  377. Because while we were yet sinners,

  378. Christ came and died for us.

  379. When we were dead in our sin,

  380. he came and gave us opportunity.

  381. That's not, that's not

  382. merit based salvation.

  383. That's not earning anything.

  384. Right.

  385. Over in Romans 3 23, it says, all of

  386. sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

  387. All not some, all.

  388. Every single one of us have fallen short.

  389. And Ephesians two, eight through

  390. nine says this, for it is by

  391. grace that you've been saved.

  392. You've been invited under God's race

  393. team, you've been given opportunity

  394. and access into relationship with

  395. him by his grace, his kindness, his

  396. gentleness, and his love for you

  397. that he offered when it was totally

  398. without merit, right through faith.

  399. Your belief, and this

  400. is not from yourselves.

  401. It's a gift, right?

  402. A gift from God, not by work

  403. so that no one can boast.

  404. Now, the scripture's gonna go on to say in

  405. the next verse that, that, uh, we're gonna

  406. do good works 'cause we're created by

  407. God as his workmanship to do good things.

  408. We absolutely are gonna

  409. do good things right?

  410. But we don't receive salvation

  411. and forgiveness for our sin and be

  412. offered this awesome opportunity

  413. to be in relationship with God

  414. because of what we do, right?

  415. Not by works.

  416. The Greek word here is, uh, Aragon,

  417. and it means labor and deeds and toil.

  418. And so many of us believe that if we

  419. work hard enough and if we do enough good

  420. deeds, that we're gonna be okay and we'll

  421. have access to God and we'll be in heaven.

  422. People say all the time, right?

  423. This person lived a good life.

  424. The problem is Jesus said, I'm the

  425. way, the truth and the life, and no one

  426. comes to the Father except through me.

  427. Right?

  428. That if we confess with our mouth

  429. that Jesus is Lord and believe in

  430. our heart that God raised him from

  431. the dead, that we'd be saved, right?

  432. That confession of our sin

  433. and our belief in who Jesus

  434. is, but that He's Lord, right?

  435. That we submit and surrender

  436. to him as the Lord of our life.

  437. It's through Jesus.

  438. I am the gate, I am the door.

  439. He says, I am the way, not a way I'm it.

  440. Right?

  441. And it's not.

  442. By doing that, you receive eternal life.

  443. You can't do enough to

  444. be acceptable to God.

  445. You can't do enough to earn some place

  446. in eternity and salvation through

  447. your works and your actions, right?

  448. What does the scripture say right here?

  449. Says it's a gift.

  450. It's a gift in the Greek here.

  451. This, uh, doron means literally present.

  452. How many of you, at your last birthday

  453. when somebody gave you a present,

  454. you were like, Hey, hang on a second.

  455. Lemme grab my wallet

  456. and cover you for that.

  457. I appreciate you doing that.

  458. Nobody does that.

  459. You don't pay for a present, do you?

  460. And how many of you received

  461. a present like this?

  462. Well, this year, Noah, you've earned it.

  463. Unlike last year when you got no presents

  464. on your birthday this year, right?

  465. No, man, we all understand getting a gift.

  466. You don't earn gifts.

  467. Maybe Santa Claus has a deal with

  468. you on the naughty list thing, right?

  469. But that's not how God rolls.

  470. You don't earn gifts.

  471. Their presents, they're offered

  472. to you without condition.

  473. And so if you think somehow you have to

  474. meet certain conditions to receive a gift,

  475. well, you don't understand how gifts work.

  476. Jesus came when we were

  477. worthless and he gave us a gift.

  478. He said, Hey, you can

  479. have your sin forgiven.

  480. You can join my race team.

  481. You can be part of my family.

  482. You can have your name written

  483. in the Lamb's book of life.

  484. You're qualified not because of

  485. anything you did not by doing, but

  486. you're qualified because I say so.

  487. And here, here's the gift of life

  488. and it's yours if you want it.

  489. In fact, let's go back to

  490. the scriptures a second.

  491. We just read for the way of

  492. sin is death, but the what?

  493. Gift.

  494. Of God, his eternal life.

  495. Peter said, may your money be

  496. destroyed with you for thinking God's.

  497. What gift can be bought over Romans 3 23?

  498. All of sin to fall

  499. short of the glory, God.

  500. But there's this huge

  501. comma at the end, right?

  502. That says clearly and are

  503. justified by His grace.

  504. As a what?

  505. A gift.

  506. Gift.

  507. Gift.

  508. Gift.

  509. Gift.

  510. Present, present, present.

  511. Present.

  512. Now, when you receive that gift,

  513. maybe you, you act in a, I don't

  514. know, a way of appreciation, right?

  515. If you take that gift and you throw it

  516. at the person and you scream at them,

  517. and you run outside and set the house

  518. on fire, probably not the best response.

  519. When you get a gift, there's

  520. usually relationship.

  521. That's part of that too, right?

  522. You don't usually get a gift from

  523. random people who walk up and and

  524. say, Hey, here's this huge gift,

  525. and you're like, oh, well thank you.

  526. Who are you again?

  527. I don't know.

  528. Who are you?

  529. I don't know.

  530. Right?

  531. And yet, when we didn't know

  532. Jesus and he was a stranger to us.

  533. He still knew us.

  534. He still knew what we were doing.

  535. He still knew right where we were and

  536. he still showed up in that space and

  537. offered the gift of forgiveness for

  538. our sin and salvation and eternal life.

  539. That's what he offers

  540. to us as a gift, right?

  541. We are not qualified by anything

  542. we do, but we are qualified

  543. by what Jesus did for us.

  544. And some of us dunno how to accept a gift.

  545. Some of us think we gotta try to

  546. pay him back and figure it out.

  547. No, that's not how it works.

  548. What's gonna happen is when you get

  549. into his race team and you get into

  550. his family, you're gonna start living

  551. differently because you are grateful

  552. and thankful for what he's done.

  553. And it affects your

  554. perspective on how you live.

  555. And now you're part of a family that has

  556. certain ways that we live and do life

  557. because it's respectful and honors our

  558. father, and we wanna roll with that.

  559. That's so different than a checklist

  560. of rules and regulations to try to earn

  561. something from our Heavenly Father.

  562. He qualifies us.

  563. He has the resources to finance our

  564. entry into the race without question.

  565. And this idea of sponsorship, it might

  566. actually kind of work because scripture

  567. says in one Peter, you were ransom.

  568. You not with perishable things or

  569. silver, gold, stuff like that, but

  570. with this precious blood of Jesus,

  571. see, he sponsors you into eternity.

  572. So maybe we ought to start wearing

  573. Bible t-shirts and necklaces, right?

  574. Maybe we ought to start looking like we're

  575. sponsored by the King of Kings, Lord of

  576. Lords, everywhere we go, because that's

  577. the truth of who we are and this race

  578. of life that we run and that we live.

  579. We're not sponsored by the

  580. enemy, and we're not sponsored by

  581. selfishness, but we've been sponsored

  582. by Jesus and we represent him.

  583. He's made it so that we're in this race.

  584. He's offered us opportunity to be in his

  585. team and now we're a reflection of him.

  586. People lose sponsorship from

  587. time to time, don't they?

  588. When they do certain things that

  589. make it so that this person doesn't

  590. wanna have anything to do with us.

  591. And maybe we equate that with Jesus, where

  592. we're like, man, I made some mistakes.

  593. I failed.

  594. I sinned.

  595. Jesus pride is pulling his

  596. sponsorship, but that's the

  597. beauty of God's grace for us.

  598. He says, no.

  599. Hey, listen.

  600. I love you.

  601. Go and sin no more.

  602. Let's get up and let's keep walking.

  603. I'm not pulling my sponsorship.

  604. I sponsor you for eternity.

  605. You're with me and you're part of my team.

  606. You're part of my family.

  607. Let's go.

  608. It's pretty cool stuff being sponsored

  609. by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

  610. You know, I learned about crew

  611. chiefs from Doc Hudson, right?

  612. Guys who race direct, right?

  613. People who are on that headset.

  614. 'cause they can see the whole

  615. race and everything going on and

  616. every turn and every collision

  617. and every potential danger, right?

  618. And, and we gotta stay connected to

  619. Jesus so that he can speak life and

  620. truth and direction into our life as

  621. we navigate some of the heavy turns

  622. and thick traffic and potential,

  623. you know, collisions that are around

  624. the corner for us on the racetrack.

  625. We need to pay attention to

  626. this idea of pit crew, right?

  627. We talk about our men street

  628. that we're to support one another

  629. and encourage one another.

  630. And we got people who are supposed

  631. to be a pit crew in our life to

  632. help us and to stand with us.

  633. And we're supposed to be pit crewing

  634. on some other guys' teams and

  635. helping them and standing with them

  636. and encouraging them in that space.

  637. Flags on a racetrack, give

  638. us instruction, right?

  639. There's caution flags and there's.

  640. I don't know what else flags there are.

  641. 'cause I don't do racing.

  642. There's a finish line flag, right?

  643. There's a green one, does something red?

  644. One, stay away from that one.

  645. It sounds like there's flags that

  646. give us instruction and direction.

  647. We could look at tires and fuel and

  648. think about how we manage the resources

  649. god's given us in this race of life.

  650. Right?

  651. If we don't pay attention, sometimes

  652. we wear our tires out and we run out

  653. of fuel before we get a chance to

  654. swing into the pits and replenish

  655. and be strong for the next round.

  656. Man, our visor needs to be clean, right?

  657. We had crud and gunk on that thing.

  658. We gotta keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and

  659. not all the crud in this life around us,

  660. there's debris and distraction that comes.

  661. We gotta have clear vision and man,

  662. that grandstand of the Indy 500

  663. with 350,000 people is backed out.

  664. Just like the crowds of heaven, who

  665. cheer us on scripture says this cool

  666. image in Hebrews, this great crowd of

  667. witnesses that has come before us, right?

  668. Who cheers us on, we have a whole heavenly

  669. grandstand cheering us on in this race

  670. of life that we're walking through.

  671. And ultimately guys, through

  672. Jesus, we get to be people who win.

  673. Everybody who's racing today,

  674. everybody who's on that

  675. track, they're hoping to win.

  676. They're trying to win.

  677. They don't know.

  678. We already have the end of this story.

  679. We know we just have to keep racing right?

  680. We need to not get disqualified,

  681. and we need not to destroy

  682. our car in the in the wall.

  683. We gotta keep racing because

  684. the victory is certain.

  685. Jesse used this cool

  686. phrase on the retreat.

  687. We race not for crowns or

  688. not, or for trophies not.

  689. Geez.

  690. Crowns not trophies.

  691. Jesse said it much nicer than that.

  692. There's an eternal crown that

  693. awaits those who endure, right?

  694. And you guys one day are gonna stand

  695. before the great white throne, the

  696. greatest spectacle in all eternity.

  697. And Jesus is gonna say, Hey,

  698. this guy's on my team, this lady,

  699. she's on my team, they're with me.

  700. And they finish the race.

  701. They've run well, well done.

  702. Come get your milk.

  703. Oh, I hate milk Anyways, crazy little

  704. illustrations for sure, but there's

  705. a lot we can pull from this race.

  706. Paul talked about racing not cars,

  707. but uh, racing there in the Greek

  708. world and winning a wreath, right?

  709. 'cause that imagery kind

  710. of helps resonate with us.

  711. And I hope that as you think about

  712. crazy race day stuff, that you

  713. remember that God man, he has qualified

  714. you not by anything you've done.

  715. But he's qualified you to

  716. be in relationship with him.

  717. He has funded it, he's put

  718. it together, he's sponsored

  719. you, and he loves you so much.

  720. And man, he wants to speak life into

  721. you as you race around this crazy track.

  722. And instead of maybe trying

  723. to beat all the other drivers,

  724. man, maybe he wants us to, okay?

  725. So where the metaphor breaks down

  726. help those other drivers win too.

  727. All right, let's pray.

  728. Lord, thank you for, uh, something

  729. simple and silly like racing that,

  730. uh, helps remind us of the truth that

  731. you've revealed to us in your word.

  732. Thank you.

  733. That we don't have to qualify

  734. by finances or performance.

  735. You love us and you

  736. offer us relationships.

  737. Lord, I pray for those who maybe that

  738. makes sense in a different way today

  739. than it has before, that you'd give them

  740. the courage to reach out to you, even

  741. in this moment, to just say, Lord, I

  742. want to be in a relationship with you.

  743. I wanna be on your race team.

  744. I may not even know the full extent

  745. of what that means, but I recognize

  746. what you're saying and I want that.

  747. And Lord, for those of us who've been

  748. a part of your race team and maybe a

  749. little negligent on our focus and our

  750. effort and our engagement, Lord, help

  751. us to be refreshed and renewed in our

  752. purpose and what you've called us to do.

  753. Help us as we help others, pit crew for

  754. other people, and help us to be willing

  755. to ask for help from others around us.

  756. Help us keep our eyes

  757. fixed on you in this thing.

  758. And listen intently to

  759. our eternal crew, chief.

  760. Thank God.

  761. Thank you for the victory that's assured.

  762. If we'll just continue to finish this

  763. race that you've laid out for us.

  764. Pray that you'd guide us in all of that.

  765. We love you, and we

  766. thank you in Jesus' name.

  767. Amen.

  768. Well, as we wrap up this morning,

  769. uh, there's another race that has

  770. concluded or is in the process

  771. of concluding for several people.

  772. We have some graduates that, uh,

  773. we're gonna recognize and we're

  774. gonna have 'em come up front here.

  775. We have a bunch of graduates

  776. that, uh, have finished the high

  777. school race, some who finished

  778. a week or two ago last Friday.

  779. We heard there's a couple still coming

  780. up, but we want to take a minute this

  781. morning and we're gonna recognize

  782. our grads and we're gonna pray a

  783. prayer blessing over them and their

  784. families as we wrap up this morning.

  785. And so, let's see here.

  786. If I call your name, if you'd just

  787. come stand up here in the front

  788. and we'll get you a little space.

  789. Seth Harper must give him a round

  790. applause when he sneaks up here.

  791. Thanks Seth.

  792. You can just stand right here buddy.

  793. Mia VAs is in the back there.

  794. Perfect.

  795. Come on up here Mia.

  796. Lucy Springer, right here.

  797. Thanks Lucy.

  798. Great job.

  799. Lany.

  800. Te,

  801. I haven't seen McKayla.

  802. I don't think McKayla's here today.

  803. No.

  804. Okay.

  805. Good job, McKayla.

  806. We're gonna clap on faith for McKayla.

  807. Mark.

  808. Let her know.

  809. Okay.

  810. And Lindsay Blake.

  811. Alright,

  812. sweet.

  813. Well, congratulations you guys.

  814. We're really proud of

  815. what you've accomplished.

  816. It is no small feat.

  817. You never have to learn

  818. anything ever again.

  819. That's a really, no, I'm just kidding.

  820. Not tell you truth, not your true.

  821. Well, what we're gonna do, we're gonna

  822. have you guys spread out a little

  823. bit and I'm gonna invite mom and dad.

  824. Who's here today with you guys to come

  825. stand beside you and surround you, and

  826. we're gonna pray a prayer of blessing.

  827. So if we can get the moms and dads to

  828. sneak up here and stand by their grads.

  829. And as a church, we wanna honor

  830. you for your great achievement, but

  831. also pray over this amazing next

  832. chapter that God's got in store.

  833. Look at that.

  834. You guys all found the right ones.

  835. Good job.

  836. Good job.

  837. That's good stuff.

  838. Alright.

  839. Alright, well church, would you join me in

  840. praying a prayer blessing over these guys?

  841. And you know what?

  842. It seems lame to sit in

  843. your seats, doesn't it?

  844. Why don't you come up here and surround

  845. all these guys and we'll lay hands on

  846. all of 'em and we'll pray together as

  847. soon as re Renee gets her picture close.

  848. I think we got one online too.

  849. We'll be good.

  850. It'll be good.

  851. Just make the big reach, huh?

  852. The Bible says the were to lay

  853. hands on one another and pray

  854. for one another for healing.

  855. And just about everything else on the list

  856. grads, we're really proud of you guys.

  857. Congratulations.

  858. And this is, uh, definitely not

  859. the end of, uh, maybe it closes

  860. a chapter, but the next, the next

  861. chapter is filled with adventure and

  862. excitement and purpose and meaning

  863. as you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

  864. And we're excited, uh, to follow and

  865. be spectators in this awesome next lap.

  866. Lord Jesus, thank you for

  867. these amazing young people.

  868. Thank you so much, Lord, that we just

  869. get the chance to do life with them a

  870. little bit and experience, uh, their

  871. love and the relationship with them.

  872. Thank you for what they mean

  873. to us as moms and dads, as

  874. family members and as friends.

  875. They've all been impactful in our lives,

  876. and Lord, we're grateful for that.

  877. And we thank you just for the gift

  878. of being in relationship together.

  879. Lord, thank you for the hard work

  880. and the effort and the energy that

  881. they've put in to accomplishing

  882. graduation of high school.

  883. And Lord, the big

  884. accomplishment that that is.

  885. And Lord, that's a something to be

  886. really proud of, and we're proud of

  887. them, and we believe you are too, as

  888. they study to show themselves approved.

  889. And God, we pray that you would keep

  890. a teachable spirit and a learning

  891. heart at the center of who they are in

  892. the days ahead, that they'd continue

  893. to grow and learn and be teachable,

  894. especially from your Holy Spirit.

  895. And God, as your people gathered here

  896. this morning, we want to just pray

  897. incredible blessing over their life.

  898. Lord, we pray that you would guard

  899. their hearts and minds in Christ

  900. Jesus, that you would protect them,

  901. that you'd divert their eyes and their

  902. hearts and their ears from things

  903. that would lead them into destruction.

  904. And instead, Lord, that you

  905. would blaze an awesome trail

  906. before them that leads to life.

  907. Lord, I pray that at every intersection

  908. on this road, you would stand

  909. there loudly with your Holy Spirit

  910. proclaiming truth, and that they would

  911. listen, and that they would choose

  912. the road that leads to life in each

  913. of the moments that lies before 'em.

  914. And God, I pray that you would give

  915. them amazing favor, that you would give

  916. them opportunities, and Lord, that you

  917. would give them resource in relationship

  918. financially, vocationally, Lord, in

  919. purpose, and in meaning that they would

  920. find incredible joy in these days ahead.

  921. Right.

  922. God, I pray that they continue to be a

  923. light to the people around them and as

  924. they step out of the shadows of high

  925. school into this college and career

  926. age, Lord, that they would be powerful

  927. witnesses and testimonies of who you are

  928. and your truth to the world around them.

  929. God, we pray you go before them that

  930. you would bless them and keep them

  931. in the name of the Father and the

  932. Son and the Holy Spirit we pray.

  933. Amen.

  934. Amen.

  935. Amen.

  936. All right, love all you guys.

  937. Congratulations.

  938. Have a great day in the Lord
