  1. for those of you guests with, we

  2. don't always have sets built on the

  3. platform unless it's June and July,

  4. and that's because we take very,

  5. very seriously our VBS Amen.

  6. Amen.

  7. Okay, so somehow this headphone has

  8. been given buddy grief and we're gonna

  9. try and see if it works for Rusty.

  10. So, uh, and there it comes again.

  11. Whoa.

  12. Um, I hope you don't mind looking

  13. at a blank screen up there.

  14. 'cause this is the deal.

  15. Do I know how to build PowerPoints?

  16. Yes, I do.

  17. Do I want to build a

  18. PowerPoint for Sunday morning?

  19. No, I don't.

  20. And this is why.

  21. 'cause if you can't see

  22. these, these are my notes.

  23. They're gonna get it worked out.

  24. So y'all just bear with me.

  25. I'm not gonna bail on it until our

  26. sound technicians figure out what

  27. they're doing, know what this is doing.

  28. They're doing great.

  29. Okay, so these are my notes.

  30. If you can't see that, it's

  31. just conglomeration mess.

  32. Okay?

  33. And that's, that's how I take notes.

  34. I just, it's a mess, right?

  35. But I know what it says

  36. 'cause I can read it, right?

  37. It's interesting, I picked up a bible this

  38. more, uh, this week for those of you who

  39. don't know my story just a little bit.

  40. Some of you do, some of you don't.

  41. At a time in my life where God

  42. was speaking to me and drawing

  43. me, he was doing the same thing

  44. in my father's life as, as well.

  45. Only he was a six to seven

  46. hour drive away from me.

  47. I was living on my own in Texas

  48. as a senior in high school, and

  49. my folks had moved to Kansas.

  50. My dad was still in the military and

  51. God was working in my dad's life.

  52. And at the same time, he

  53. was kind of drawing me

  54. kind of a weird perspective.

  55. And, uh, as things would collide

  56. and come together, I went to Bible

  57. college and I got a degree in music.

  58. And my dad, after he got outta

  59. the military, went to seminary.

  60. So kind of cool.

  61. So unlike Andy, I did end up on staff

  62. with my father only My father raised a

  63. pa. I wasn't raised in a pastor's home.

  64. I was raised in military brat.

  65. Um, and then traveled all over the

  66. world following my dad, who was

  67. a, it was a, a full-time soldier.

  68. And, uh, a very good one.

  69. I dunno if that's good.

  70. Soldiers end up being buried in

  71. Arlington Cemetery, I guess sometimes.

  72. Right?

  73. And that's, that's where he's at.

  74. That being said, he transitioned and this

  75. week I picked up one of his Bible, but

  76. I'm, and he's got post-its throughout and

  77. notes throughout, and it was just very,

  78. uh, his writing was worse than mine.

  79. But, uh, it was cool just to read that

  80. and see the legacy that he passed on.

  81. Uh, because when he was, when he was a

  82. soldier, he was all in, I mean, all in.

  83. And when he transitioned to

  84. Jesus, he was all in that army.

  85. There was no compromise.

  86. There was no hesitation.

  87. He knew that over here, if you

  88. didn't do your job, people died.

  89. He also knew that over here, if you

  90. didn't do your job, people died.

  91. Over here.

  92. Over here, they die spiritually

  93. and they go to hell.

  94. He took it very seriously and

  95. he kind of passed that on to me.

  96. But anyway, so I was reading

  97. some of his notes and he was

  98. like me, it was just a mess.

  99. And I rewrite him two or three or four

  100. times as I'm going through this and Andy

  101. said, Hey, pump VBS pump vb S pump VB S.

  102. So this is pumping VVS

  103. pumping VBS pump and VVS.

  104. That's why this is here.

  105. But I thought it'd be awesome to talk

  106. about the castle 'cause it's cool.

  107. Right?

  108. Does anybody remember what

  109. Andy talked about last week?

  110. Anybody remember?

  111. Last week was the, was the, uh, youth,

  112. but I think he talked about something

  113. before that didn't, he had to do with VBS.

  114. That being said, last week

  115. was a youth awesome time.

  116. I thought it'd be.

  117. Cast, talk a little bit about it.

  118. I'm not gonna be able to go along 'cause I

  119. picked all these great songs and I'm done.

  120. Just done.

  121. You.

  122. I, I don't know how, I

  123. don't wanna be critical.

  124. I cannot sit still when the

  125. music's going like that.

  126. I can't help but sing.

  127. Russell said, Hey dad, if you need

  128. to back off and save it, I got it.

  129. I tried.

  130. It ain't happening.

  131. It just is not happening.

  132. You know, when we get to heaven, I don't

  133. think anybody's gonna be preaching.

  134. Surprise, surprise.

  135. All these pastors got a new thing coming.

  136. I think we're gonna be worshiping.

  137. All right.

  138. I think there's gonna

  139. be music out the wazoo.

  140. It's gonna be awesome.

  141. Okay.

  142. It's gonna be incredible.

  143. I'm just saying, you might

  144. as well rehearse now.

  145. That's what's gonna happen.

  146. Only the nothing's gonna stop you.

  147. Sometimes I think stuff

  148. inside us kind of stops us.

  149. You know, kind of, we're gonna talk

  150. about strongholds this morning,

  151. you know, stronghold that stops

  152. us from just saying, you know,

  153. Lord, I'm just gonna worship you.

  154. I'm just gonna let it go.

  155. Well, when we get to the other side,

  156. there's not gonna be any strongholds.

  157. It's gonna be broken down and

  158. we're gonna worship the Father

  159. and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  160. Totally and completely.

  161. Okay.

  162. But I couldn't stop, so

  163. the voice may not last.

  164. It's all good.

  165. I'm relaxing right now.

  166. This is the introduction.

  167. Oh, good.

  168. I've got all kinds of time.

  169. Is Pre Corps here?

  170. No, he is not.

  171. Oh, bless him.

  172. I'm not gonna compete with him.

  173. Promise.

  174. Or with Josh.

  175. Thanks Josh for that last, but I'm

  176. gonna give you a lot of scripture.

  177. I didn't put it up here because

  178. my notes changed so many times.

  179. If I put it up there in the first

  180. of the week, DAXs texted me,

  181. Hey, can you get me the slides?

  182. No.

  183. 'cause they're gonna change

  184. before we get to Sunday morning.

  185. They changed this morning.

  186. I woke up in that daze and

  187. thought, oh man, that's good Lord.

  188. That's good Lord.

  189. Scribble it down.

  190. And I said, morning.

  191. This page was blank.

  192. So I'm starting here, going

  193. here, coming here, going there.

  194. Can you follow?

  195. You think we could put that up there?

  196. No, it's not gonna happen.

  197. Have your Bibles.

  198. Hopefully you have 'em.

  199. Okay.

  200. Hopefully you got one.

  201. If it's on your technology, who's sitting

  202. next to a person that is looking at

  203. their Bible on their phone, I want you

  204. to verify they're on their Bible app.

  205. I give you permission to Snoop

  206. Verify they're on their Bible app.

  207. Okay?

  208. Kids, if your parents, teenagers, if

  209. your parents are on their phone, I

  210. give you permission to check Dad out.

  211. Okay?

  212. Make sure he is on the word.

  213. Perfect.

  214. All right.

  215. 'cause this is what's important.

  216. There you go.

  217. I saw youth back there.

  218. Go.

  219. That's what I like.

  220. Dude, don't be playing any games, okay?

  221. Don't be playing any games.

  222. Get in the word.

  223. Okay, so another, you know, footnote.

  224. Hey, dads, your kids need

  225. to see you with a book.

  226. Because if they come downstairs in

  227. the morning and you're sitting up

  228. with a lamp, with a cup of coffee

  229. and iPhone, or your tablet, they

  230. don't know you're in the word.

  231. Get a book.

  232. And when they come down, they

  233. say, Ooh, dad's reading the word.

  234. It means something.

  235. I'm just saying, I'm just saying

  236. Second Corinthians chapter 10

    2 Corinthians 10 chapter mention

  237. holes.

  238. You know what a stronghold is.

  239. Can you hear it?

  240. Is it going away?

  241. Is it cutting?

  242. Is it cutting?

  243. Debbie?

  244. Little bit.

  245. Little bit.

  246. Well, if I need to cut it,

  247. I will do away with it.

  248. Okay.

  249. My sound guy up here

  250. says, do away with it.

  251. Okay, here we go.

  252. Testing 1, 2, 3.

  253. Testing one Corinthians

  254. second Corinthians.

  255. Excuse me.

  256. Chapter 10.

  257. This is gonna be really hard because

  258. I got a lot of scripture and, uh,

  259. turning my pages is gonna get fun.

  260. Okay, second Corinthians chapter 10.

    2 Corinthians 10 chapter mention

  261. Let's, let's pick up in verse three.

  262. Um,

  263. for though we walk in the flesh,

  264. we do not, we are not waging

  265. war according to the flesh.

  266. For the weapons of our warfare are not

  267. of the flesh, but have divine power.

  268. To destroy strongholds, we destroy

  269. arguments and every lofty opinion raised

  270. against the knowledge of God and take

  271. every thought captive to obey Christ.

  272. Father, thank you for your word.

  273. Lord, I pray that your word this

  274. morning will speak, that nothing

  275. I say or do will come between your

  276. Holy Spirit and the hearts of people.

  277. That your word

  278. will not return void, but will

  279. plant a seed of truth in the

  280. hearts of people this morning.

  281. And I pray you water it and bring

  282. it a harvest in your precious name.

  283. Amen.

  284. Ephesians chapter six says this.

  285. For, we do not wrestle against flesh

  286. and blood, but against the rulers,

  287. against the authorities, against the

  288. co cosmic powers, over this present

  289. darkness against the spiritual forces

  290. of evil in the heavenly places.

  291. How many of you look around today

  292. and see the warfare that is raging?

  293. You can raise your hand if you're

  294. not seeing warfare, raging.

  295. You're not looking around, and

  296. I'm not talking about Israel and

  297. Hamas, and I'm not talking about

  298. Ukraine and Russia or every other

  299. little conflict, ice and illegals.

  300. I'm not talking about that,

  301. not talking about any of that.

  302. But there's a warfare that's raging right

  303. now that's taking captive and building

  304. strongholds in the lives of people

  305. that are sending them straight to hell.

  306. And that's the warfare

  307. Paul is talking about.

  308. In Ephesians, he makes

  309. it really, really clear.

  310. We don't fight against flesh and blood.

  311. You know, as believers, we should try

  312. and remember that every day I don't

  313. have a fight against other people.

  314. Jesus died for those people.

  315. He shed his blood on a cross.

  316. For every person who has ever

  317. lived, who is currently living or

  318. who will ever live, he died for

  319. them, which means he loves them.

  320. What does he command me to do?

  321. Love them.

  322. Love them.

  323. There is a stronghold in their life.

  324. There is a big castle.

  325. Keeping the Holy Spirit of God

  326. from penetrating their heart.

  327. The word stronghold in the Greek

  328. right there in Corinthians.

  329. That is the only place it's

  330. found in the New Testament.

  331. Now, there's a couple of Hebrew words back

  332. in the Old Testament that have similar

  333. translations, but this one time in second

  334. Corinthians, the only place it's found.

  335. It basically means fortress like a castle.

  336. Think about how it communicated

  337. in that time period.

  338. Think about it, where people,

  339. cities built walls to keep the bad

  340. people out, to protect them from

  341. the onslaught of other nations.

  342. They built walls.

  343. I, IE remember Jericho.

  344. We think of a wall maybe a a what?

  345. What?

  346. What's a wall?

  347. Who's in construction around here?

  348. What's a wall?

  349. All the weights are gone.

  350. How thick is a wall?

  351. You got two by four studs, right?

  352. You got a wrap?

  353. Installation.

  354. Then whatever your siding is on

  355. the inside, you've got sheet rock.

  356. So what are we about?

  357. Six inches, eight inches.

  358. That's all you got.

  359. That's it.

  360. I don't wanna be real rude here,

  361. but a tornado just wipes them

  362. things out like it's a toothpick.

  363. It's gone.

  364. Has very little protection

  365. for your, I mean we, we do.

  366. I mean, we are kind of spoiled.

  367. Little rain, little hail.

  368. It's all good.

  369. Replace the roof.

  370. It's all good.

  371. It's great.

  372. Right?

  373. The walls they had, the fortresses

  374. they built, kept out armies from

  375. the onslaught that was coming.

  376. The walls were so thick, you could

  377. drive chariots around the rim of it.

  378. They built homes in the walls.

  379. That's how big the walls are.

  380. These are the walls that

  381. are in people's lives.

  382. These are the walls that

  383. are in people's minds.

  384. The warfare we're waging has

  385. absolutely nothing to do with

  386. the world and how they wage war.

  387. The weapons, the war the world uses,

  388. they bark over here and bite over there.

  389. You'll get that later.

  390. They bark over here and bite over there.

  391. Physical weapons.

  392. We also, the world wars with words,

  393. don't they?

  394. Critical condemning mean

  395. angry, hateful words.

  396. How about attitudes?

  397. Have you ever had a worldly

  398. attitude aimed at you?

  399. Maybe you've had a worldly

  400. attitude aimed at somebody else.

  401. That's a worldly weapon.

  402. That's the weapons the world uses.

  403. Physical weapons that kill, and then

  404. weapons of words and attitudes hate.

  405. That's the weapons the world uses.

  406. And Paul said, we don't

  407. war with those weapons.

  408. Our weapons are mighty.

  409. Our weapons are holy to the pulling down

  410. of strongholds, to bash down the castles

  411. of the evil one and to take captive every

  412. thought to make it obedient to Christ.

  413. So let's talk about the strongholds.

  414. Turn to Matthew chapter 15.

    Matthew 15 chapter mention

  415. We're gonna fly and I'm gonna

  416. have to do it with one hand.

  417. Matthew chapter 15 and

    Matthew 15 chapter mention

  418. verse 18 and following,

  419. in Corinthians Paul wrote

  420. that we shouldn't look at

  421. the outside or the temporary.

  422. We should look at the eternal.

  423. Don't be caught up in the physical.

  424. Don't be caught up in what's temporary.

  425. Everything you see is temporary.

  426. You realize that everything

  427. in this world is temporary.

  428. Don't be caught up in looking

  429. at things temporarily.

  430. Let's look at things that are eternal.

  431. You know what is eternal?

  432. We are eternal.

  433. We are eternal.

  434. People are eternal.

  435. That's it.

  436. Nothing of this world

  437. will survive to the end.

  438. It's gone.

  439. We are eternal.

  440. We need to change our paradigm

  441. from physical to spiritual.

  442. Don't look and fight

  443. the wars the world does.

  444. Let's look at it from God's point of view.

  445. In Matthew chapter 15, verse 18

    Matthew 15:18

  446. says, but what comes out of the

  447. mouth proceeds from the heart?

  448. And this defiles, a person for out

  449. of the heart come evil thoughts,

  450. murder, adultery, sexual morality,

  451. theft, false witness and slander.

  452. These are what defile a person,

  453. but to eat with unwashed hands

  454. does not defile anyone To Roman,

  455. turn to Romans chapter one.

  456. Hopefully you're gonna see a theme here

  457. in Romans chapter one, verse 21 says,

  458. for although they knew God, they

  459. did not honor him as God or give

  460. thanks to him, but they became futile

  461. in their thinking and their foolish

  462. hearts were darkened, claiming to be wise.

  463. They became fools.

  464. In exchange the glory of, of the immortal

  465. God for images resembling mortal man, and

  466. birds and animals, and creeping things,

  467. they worshiped the created

  468. thing rather than the creator.

  469. In verse 25 says, because they exchanged

  470. the truth of God, truth about God for

  471. a lie, and worshiped and served the

  472. creator, the creature, excuse me, rather

  473. than the creator who is blessed forever.

  474. Amen and amen.

  475. Their minds became futile, empty, vain.

  476. In, in Ephesians chapter four, verse

  477. 17, Paul wrote, and he said, now

  478. this, I say, and testified in the

  479. Lord that you must no longer walk as

  480. the Gentiles do in the futility of

  481. their minds, that word futility right

  482. there translates devoid of truth,

  483. devoid of truth.

  484. See, the stronghold that we

  485. deal with on a day-to-day basis

  486. is a stronghold of the mind.

  487. Have you ever been in an argument with

  488. somebody and you're trying to convince

  489. them that they're lost and going to hell?

  490. Have you ever been in an argument of

  491. words about the, about the scripture?

  492. Have you ever tried to convince

  493. somebody that they're wrong?

  494. Let's take the scripture out of it.

  495. 'cause everybody's been in an argument

  496. where you're trying to convince somebody

  497. that they're wrong and they're not moving.

  498. How'd that go for you?

  499. Were you able to convince them?

  500. Why?

  501. Why couldn't you convince them?

  502. Aren't you right?

  503. Something in their mind?

  504. Has them convinced they're right.

  505. You're not gonna convince

  506. them, you won't move them.

  507. We sometimes spend a lot of

  508. energy and emotion trying to

  509. convince somebody with the word

  510. and with our words, they're wrong.

  511. You're going to hell.

  512. I learned that kind of early on.

  513. I got to Bible college and didn't have

  514. a lot of experience with all this.

  515. I was really raw.

  516. But I saw some guys in the dorm and

  517. they were PA ministerial students.

  518. They were, we called them preacher boys,

  519. you know they're studying to be pastors.

  520. They had 10 pound

  521. Thompson chain references.

  522. A lot like what Marty

  523. carries every Sunday.

  524. Okay, that was funny.

  525. You gotta give it up.

  526. He still carries that big Thompson chain.

  527. Nevermind it's a big study Bible.

  528. And on Friday nights these three or

  529. four of them would get their study

  530. bibles, these big honking bibles.

  531. And I went to college in East Texas

  532. to say backwoods my, not go far enough.

  533. When I was in college in the

  534. seventies, there were still people

  535. living so far back in the woods.

  536. They didn't have running water

  537. and they didn't have electricity.

  538. There was no paved road to get

  539. to their house back in the woods.

  540. That's how backwoods, I'm

  541. talking about way back.

  542. Redneck is not an exaggeration.

  543. Okay?

  544. These guys would grab their

  545. bibles, go down to the local Sonic.

  546. Now, Sonic was where, I don't know

  547. you kids today probably can't get it.

  548. Maybe those over 50 are gonna get it.

  549. Uh, that's where they would drag.

  550. That was the strip.

  551. You know, they would run their

  552. hot rods round through Sonic

  553. does the circle come back around?

  554. Through Sonic?

  555. You're buzzing, man.

  556. Everybody's waving at the chicks.

  557. Everybody's cool, you know,

  558. all showing off their cars.

  559. And all the cowboys would sit on

  560. their trucks with the back end down

  561. on the back of the truck, cowboy hats

  562. pulled down and drinking as much beer

  563. as they could possibly put in that.

  564. That was it.

  565. That was a Friday night.

  566. And these preacher boys would go

  567. to go down and save the world.

  568. Now I gotta give 'em credit

  569. for their enthusiasm.

  570. But every Friday night they would

  571. come home bloodied and bruised.

  572. And I'm not, that's not figuratively.

  573. 'cause they got in the face of

  574. these drunk boys and these drunk

  575. boys just gave 'em a whoop.

  576. And they would come back to

  577. the dorm suffering for Jesus.

  578. And I'm like, not sure that's

  579. what he means, because they're

  580. beaten against a stronghold and

  581. they're not doing it the way.

  582. I don't get that.

  583. So I tried a different angle.

  584. I went to work in town

  585. with all those cowboys

  586. and I kept my Bible in my back pocket.

  587. A little New Testament.

  588. Wasn't the smartest guy on the

  589. block, but I knew that didn't work.

  590. So I tried a different angle

  591. and I just hung with these guys and I

  592. loved them and I spent time with them.

  593. And when they asked, when opportunity

  594. presented itself, when there was a

  595. hurting moment, I put my arm around him.

  596. Sometimes I'd open the

  597. scripture and say, you know,

  598. this is my Jesus.

  599. A couple of those

  600. rednecks just look me up.

  601. Every time I get back to school,

  602. they come looking for me.

  603. I mean, they would go all over

  604. town looking for where I was.

  605. Come find me at a restaurant or on campus.

  606. Glad you're back.

  607. Let's go get a Coke.

  608. Okay, cool.

  609. Whatever.

  610. I, I just saying, the weapons we fight

  611. with are not the weapons of the world.

  612. What are we gonna do to, to

  613. tear down the walls of the mind?

  614. Well, this is what we do to

  615. tear down the walls of the mind.

  616. We start with our weapons.

  617. The weapons God provides us

  618. first starts with our faith.

  619. In Hebrews chapter 11, if you haven't

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  620. read it, you should go read it sometime.

  621. It's the faith chapter talks about all the

  622. faith of all the Old Testament all the way

  623. through a lot of Old Testament figures.

  624. But there's one little

  625. bitty verse round verse 13.

  626. 13 or so that said it was the faith that

  627. caused the walls of Jericho to fall.

  628. Now, if you don't know the story, the

  629. children, they crossed over the Jordan.

  630. They crossed the Red Sea,

  631. they cross the Jordan.

  632. They're coming into the promised

  633. land that God says this is yours.

  634. And they get to this big city, Jordan

  635. or Jericho, big walls fortified.

  636. Oh no, what are we gonna do?

  637. And God tells him, he says, I

  638. want you to walk around the city.

  639. All the people walk around

  640. the city, don't say a word.

  641. Be quiet.

  642. They carried the ark in front,

  643. the trumpeters trumpeted

  644. one day all around the city.

  645. They just were six days

  646. all around the city.

  647. Quiet, trumpeters, trumpeting, arc

  648. carried in front, trumpeters, trumpet.

  649. Can you imagine when the people

  650. of Jericho thought they're kind of

  651. foolish, ain't they all around the city?

  652. Six days.

  653. Seventh day, we're gonna

  654. go around seven times.

  655. Once we get around seven

  656. times, we're gonna raise our

  657. voices and a shout to the Lord.

  658. They did.

  659. Walls fell.

  660. Ever heard a lot of speculation.

  661. Wow.

  662. They shouted so much

  663. that the ground shook.

  664. Well, the trumpets were so loud,

  665. the ground shook, the walls fell.

  666. You know what the

  667. scripture says in Hebrews?

  668. Their faith crushed the walls.

  669. God told 'em to do it.

  670. They believed it, and the walls came down.

  671. Hmm.

  672. Interesting.

  673. God said it and I believed

  674. it, and the walls came down.

  675. Hmm.

  676. Okay, faith, here's a couple other

  677. weapons that God says that we have

  678. at our disposal that we need to use.

  679. Here's one that we overlook, prayer.

  680. Oswald Chambers said in my almost first

  681. highest, I cannot tell you where it was.

  682. It's an, it's a yearly um, devotional,

  683. and you can go look for it.

  684. Remember what he said one time?

  685. He said that God doesn't

  686. give us discernment for the

  687. purpose of condemnation.

  688. He gives us discernment for

  689. the purpose of intercession.

  690. Lemme see if I can define that for you.

  691. If those words flew past you.

  692. Discernment is when we

  693. actually see something.

  694. God reveals something to

  695. us about someone's life.

  696. Maybe it's a person you work with.

  697. Maybe it's a person in your family.

  698. Maybe it's a member in your household.

  699. I don't know.

  700. God speaks to you and gives

  701. you insight into their lives.

  702. A need, a stronghold.

  703. As a believer that stronghold

  704. should not be addressed with

  705. condemnation or criticism.

  706. God didn't give you that discernment

  707. to criticize or condemn that person.

  708. He gave you that discernment to pray

  709. for them to intercede on their behalf.

  710. That's the weapon he has handed You.

  711. Pray, pray that God tears down

  712. the stronghold in their life

  713. that's keeping 'em from Jesus,

  714. because you won't convince them.

  715. Only the Holy Spirit of

  716. God will convince them.

  717. Only the Holy Spirit of God will convince

  718. them we can't do it, but we can pray.

  719. We can pray

  720. and we can praise.

  721. You know, every once in a while.

  722. Um,

  723. I, uh,

  724. I, I, I don't take credit.

  725. I never have.

  726. Um, I've been doing this worship thing

  727. for a long, long, long, long, long time.

  728. Goodness.

  729. A long time.

  730. By 1977, I think, or 78.

  731. 77 78, when I took the first position

  732. I had as a choir director in a church,

  733. as the music director in a church.

  734. Um, that's when I started.

  735. Didn't know beans from buckshot.

  736. I didn't know anything.

  737. But I, it, it never ceases to

  738. amaze me that, uh, whenever I'm

  739. saying, Lord, lead me to what you

  740. would have for Sunday morning.

  741. And over there somewhere in the ether is

  742. the pastor and he's saying, Lord, lead me

  743. to what you would have for Sunday morning.

  744. Now, I've been in churches where the

  745. pastor said, I'm preaching on this.

  746. You need to have songs that align.

  747. That ain't my jive.

  748. If I don't dig with that action, is

  749. that man really listening to the Lord

  750. or is he just, I don't dig with that.

  751. Whatever.

  752. Let God be God.

  753. It's amazing.

  754. You would be floored.

  755. Totally.

  756. It would blow your mind.

  757. How many times we show up on a

  758. Sunday morning and the worship set

  759. goes right with the pastor sermon.

  760. The God just does it.

  761. I don't do it.

  762. And Andy and Marty don't do it.

  763. Nobody's preaching does it.

  764. God does it.

  765. And it's not like, wow.

  766. I dunno why I was surprised.

  767. 'cause he just keeps showing up like that.

  768. Right.

  769. So this week worship pastor and

  770. preacher are the same entity.

  771. I'm doing the rehearsal this morning.

  772. I'm like.

  773. Dude, God, these are awesome songs.

  774. 'cause they're going right with

  775. what I'm talking about this

  776. morning and he's going like, duh.

  777. But I didn't think about it when I did it.

  778. I really didn't.

  779. I mean, I was ruminating on this for a

  780. while and I guess what, what drove it was

  781. more or less the times in which we live.

  782. I mean,

  783. I don't like watching the news.

  784. I don't like it.

  785. It's, it's, it's just gross.

  786. But we are living in a messed up

  787. world and it ain't just the good

  788. old US of a, it's around the world.

  789. It's everywhere.

  790. We are deteriorating at a very rapid pace.

  791. I do, I need to even go further, go back

  792. and read all of chapter one of Romans.

  793. Go back and read what Paul was

  794. writing to the Roman church at the

  795. time, and when he said what he said,

  796. okay about their thinking, they

  797. became futile in their thinking.

  798. They gave up.

  799. God just said, okay, dude, if that's

  800. what you wanna believe, that you think

  801. that two women can have a baby, or two

  802. men can have a baby, or a man can be a

  803. woman or woman, could y'all go ahead.

  804. That's all cool.

  805. He gave up their natural,

  806. they went against nature.

  807. Duh.

  808. That, that's it.

  809. That's the stronghold.

  810. I look around me and I

  811. say, Lord, what's going on?

  812. You're not gonna drag people to your side.

  813. You're not gonna convince them that wrong.

  814. You're not gonna, oh, oh, God's word says.

  815. That's not gonna work.

  816. We need to pray.

  817. We need to praise.

  818. That's what tears the strongholds down.

  819. I'm looking through the scripture this

  820. morning and I'm thinking like, wow, wow.

  821. For God so love the world that he

  822. gave us, his only son, that whoever

  823. believes in him should not perish.

  824. Bring all your failures,

  825. bring your addictions.

  826. Lay them down at the foot of the cross.

  827. Jesus is waiting there.

  828. Let praise be the weapon

  829. that silences the enemy.

  830. Let praise be the weapon

  831. that conquers all anxiety.

  832. Whew.

  833. Let it rise.

  834. Let praise arise.

  835. We're seeing your name in the

  836. dark and it changes everything.

  837. Everything we sing with all we

  838. are, and we claim the victory.

  839. Let it rise.

  840. Let it rise.

  841. We'll see you break down every wall.

  842. We'll watch the giants fall for fear

  843. cannot survive when we praise you,

  844. the God of breakthroughs on our side.

  845. Forever.

  846. Lift him high with all creation.

  847. Cry.

  848. God, we praise you.

  849. Let faith be the song that

  850. overcomes the raging sea.

  851. Let faith be the song that

  852. calms the storm inside of me.

  853. Let it rise.

  854. Let it rise.

  855. This is what living looks like.

  856. This is what freedom feels like.

  857. This is what heaven sounds like.

  858. We praise you.

  859. What a beautiful name it is.

  860. What a beautiful name It is the

  861. name of Jesus Christ our king.

  862. What a powerful name.

  863. It's what a powerful name.

  864. It is the name of Jesus Christ our king.

  865. What a powerful name It is nothing.

  866. Can stand against what a powerful

  867. name It is the name of Jesus Christ.

  868. I raise a hallelujah

  869. in the presence of my enemies.

  870. I

  871. raise a hallelujah

  872. louder than the unbelief.

  873. I raise the hallelujah.

  874. My weapon is a melody.

  875. I raise the hallelujah

  876. Heaven comes to fight for me.

  877. I'm gonna sing

  878. in the middle of the storm.

  879. I'm gonna sing louder and louder.

  880. You're gonna hear my praises

  881. roar up from the ashes.

  882. Hope will arise.

  883. Death is defeated.

  884. The king is alive.

  885. Sing a little louder in

  886. the presence of my enemies.

  887. Sing a little louder,

  888. louder than the unbelief.

  889. Sing a little louder.

  890. My weapon is a melody.

  891. Sing a little louder.

  892. Heaven comes to fight for me.

  893. Sometimes I don't think we really

  894. understand the power of praise and

  895. the power of prayer in our lives.

  896. The power of prayer and

  897. the power of praise.

  898. I don't know what strongholds are

  899. in your life, but the strongholds

  900. that are in our lives are much

  901. like the strongholds of the world.

  902. We build them up, fear,

  903. anxiety, worry, doubt.

  904. Philippians says, be anxious for

  905. nothing but in prayer with prayer

  906. and supplication and thanksgiving.

  907. Let your request be known unto God

  908. and the peace of God, which transcends

  909. all understand, will keep your

  910. hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

  911. Two verses before that where he

  912. is talking about being anxious.

  913. He says, give thanks in all circumstances.

  914. Give thanks.

  915. Let your gentleness be evident to all.

  916. You see, the strongholds that are in

  917. the world and the strongholds that are

  918. our lives, God will rip down, tear down.

  919. It's his power that can do it.

  920. And then the stronghold that he

  921. builds up in our lives is his,

  922. and nothing can stand against it.

  923. Nothing.

  924. And nobody, because he is

  925. the stronghold, not us.

  926. So my challenge for you this morning is,

  927. number one, what are the strongholds in

  928. people around you that you're fighting

  929. against rather than praying and praising?

  930. And then number two, what are

  931. the strongholds in your life that

  932. you've allowed to be built up?

  933. Anxiety, fear,

  934. anger, sin, whatever that is.

  935. We don't need to go down to the

  936. nitty gritty of what those are.

  937. You know?

  938. What is it you've built up in your

  939. life that has control over you?

  940. In Romans chapter six, he says, he

  941. died to set us free from all of that.

  942. In chapter seven, Paul said,

  943. I do what I don't wanna do.

  944. I don't what I do, I do.

  945. I'm having this challenge.

  946. And then in chapter eight he

  947. says, but thanks be to God.

  948. He's given me the victory.

  949. We don't have to live there.

  950. What are the strongholds in your life?

  951. What are you building up?

  952. What are you, what is

  953. coming between you and God?

  954. Because the weapons that he has provided

  955. to us, faith, prayer, and praise.

  956. Oh, and one more

  957. The word,

  958. the strongholds of our

  959. lives will be torn down

  960. if we'll stop and quit fighting

  961. the weapons of the world.

  962. And use the weapons that

  963. God has put at our disposal.

  964. It's been a very difficult week for me.

  965. I don't, uh, yeah.

  966. Is what it is.

  967. Been a just kind of a wait.

  968. Don't know why.

  969. I, I, I, I, I just don't, I told Debbie,

  970. I says, I, I just don't understand it.

  971. It's just a weight.

  972. I'd like to say it's anxiety.

  973. I, I don't know.

  974. It's not high blood pressure.

  975. That wouldn't definitely do it.

  976. A lot happening, A lot going on, but

  977. it's just a weight.

  978. Be anxious for nothing.

  979. Be anxious for nothing, rusty.

  980. And as we were singing this morning,

  981. it was like God just lifted it.

  982. Not just in this, but the, the

  983. rehearsal time is worship time.

  984. Yeah.

  985. Sometimes we bang it out, but

  986. it, it can be very worshipful.

  987. So if you wanna come for two

  988. hours of worship, show up at,

  989. uh, about 8 45 to nine 30.

  990. We're rehearsing if you wanna

  991. be part of two worship services.

  992. That's the first one.

  993. It may not be real.

  994. It might break down a couple

  995. of times and we'll redo it a

  996. couple of times, but that's okay.

  997. That's what rehearsal is.

  998. But you can participate.

  999. We'll invite you if you want to.

1000. You don't get enough in the regular one.

  1001. Just come early.

1002. We're here we go, right, Austin?

  1003. Yeah.

  1004. Okay.

1005. When we were singing through those

1006. songs this morning and it was just

1007. like God said, I got you Rusty.

  1008. It's okay, man, because sometimes it's

1009. everything I can do to try and fix it.

  1010. Go rest.

1011. Go get alone, get quiet.

  1012. Get in the word.

1013. I don't feel like getting the word.

1014. Go pick up your guitar rusty in just.

  1015. Worship.

  1016. I don't feel like doing that.

1017. It's just too much of a headache.

1018. Uh, we make all these excuses, right?

  1019. God leads us.

1020. The Holy Spirit prompts us, and we

1021. have all these excuses that we make.

  1022. I don't have time.

  1023. I don't want, I gotta get this done.

1024. I gotta get that done.

1025. We're trying to get outta town.

  1026. I gotta go.

  1027. I gotta go.

1028. I gotta get this done.

1029. And God just says, Hey, shut up, stupid.

1030. And we're singing these songs this

1031. morning and God just says like, oh wow.

  1032. Thank you Lord.

1033. Let praise be the weapon.

1034. Calms the storm inside of me.

1035. It takes all the anxiety.

1036. Let praise be the weapon.

  1037. Lord, I praise you.

  1038. I will praise you.

  1039. I don't know what the

1040. strongholds are in your life.

1041. They're all around us in the world.

1042. Let me challenge you, pray,

1043. praise, and read the Word,

  1044. and whatever stronghold

1045. is in your life, pray.

  1046. Praise.

  1047. And read the word.

1048. I would challenge you, pray,

1049. praise, and read the word.

1050. When the armies of God went out to

1051. battle, they sent the choir ahead of them.

1052. They sent the choir in front.

1053. The musicians in the choir went out front.

  1054. I don't know that I like that

1055. too much, but hey, so be it.

  1056. That's what they did.

1057. You wanna know why God was

1058. teaching his people a principle.

1059. It's not your strength, it's your praise.

  1060. It's my strength.

1061. That's what God was teaching them.

1062. You praise, I'll fight you.

  1063. Praise I'll fight.

  1064. What a principle.

1065. Hey, I think sometimes God looks down

1066. and says, Hey knucklehead, you praise.

  1067. I'll fight

  1068. you.

  1069. Praise I'll fight.

1070. You hearing it, you praise.

  1071. I fight Rusty.

  1072. I can't sing.

  1073. I don't care.

  1074. And God doesn't care.

  1075. Just praise.

  1076. Just praise.

  1077. Worship him.

1078. He does the battle and rips down

1079. the strongholds in your life and

1080. in the lives of people around you.

1081. I've gone over my bad.

  1082. Let's pray.

1083. Lord, thank you so much that we

1084. don't have to carry the load.

1085. Thank you so much that you say,

1086. lay it down and you'll lift it up.

1087. That we can take your yoke

  1088. because it's light and it's easy.

  1089. Why?

1090. Because it's the power that you

1091. give us to walk through this life.

1092. God forgive us when we struggle in our

1093. own self to do everything we're supposed

1094. to do, and we forget that if we stop

1095. and just look at you and worship you and

1096. praise you, and read your word, and pray

1097. that you'll hear our voice, that you'll

1098. break down the strongholds that are our

1099. lives that keep us from being closer to

1100. you, Lord, brick by brick, rip it down.

  1101. I pray.

1102. I pray for each person in this

1103. room and each person who's watching

1104. on the video, Lord, tear down

1105. the strongholds in their lives.

1106. Tear down what is standing

  1107. between them and you.

1108. Whatever it is, fear, anxiety, anger,

1109. rage, whatever it is, any type of sin,

1110. tear it down so that they can know you.

1111. So they can know how much you love

1112. them, how much you care for them,

1113. that you died for them, that you

1114. want only to draw them to yourself,

1115. that you have the best for them.

1116. Father, tear down the strongholds

1117. that we build up in our lives

  1118. and be glorified.

1119. We are grateful to be here today.

  1120. Thank you, Jesus.

  1121. We praise you.

  1122. Amen.

  1123. Have a good day.

  1124. Shalom.

  1125. Be well.
