  1. Love it.

  2. Love it.

  3. Well, you know, the kazoo

  4. works the first time.

  5. Now, uh, Russell remind me, you guys paid

  6. a dollar how much you paid for that Kao.

  7. $3. So we've used it now two Sundays

  8. in a row, so that's like a dollar 50.

  9. We're, man, we're making

  10. money on kazoos around here.

  11. So if you would like to get your

  12. own commemorative kazoo signed by

  13. the praise band to not use during

  14. the sermon, let us know, man.

  15. That could be great at supply.

  16. Come quickly.

  17. Yeah.

  18. Yeah, I think we'll confiscate

  19. your kazoo after that.

  20. So, hey, uh, final

  21. Countdown, part two, right?

  22. Yesterday or last Sunday.

  23. I wisely perceived Krista that

  24. people would need to share and

  25. obviously chopped the sermon in half.

  26. But fool you guys 'cause I

  27. saved the other half for today.

  28. So there we go.

  29. So we're gonna talk a little bit

  30. about where we were at with our

  31. final countdown discussion last week.

  32. Uh, just to walk you through just a

  33. second, the early church used phrases

  34. like in the last days a lot, right?

  35. They understood that they were

  36. living in the time where Jesus.

  37. Was gonna be making his

  38. return probably pretty soon.

  39. And we looked over at second

  40. Peter how God measures time.

  41. A little different in eternity

  42. than we measure it, right?

  43. That he's really only been

  44. gone, what was it, Jocelyn?

  45. Ah, just a couple of days.

  46. You know?

  47. A thousand years is a day, then a

  48. couple days, a couple thousand years.

  49. It's all the same, right?

  50. When he returns, he's not gonna be,

  51. he's not gonna be late, he's not

  52. gonna be on the wrong timeframe.

  53. He knows what he's doing

  54. and he has purpose in it.

  55. But he reminded us right through

  56. prophets and messages that he was

  57. gonna come and he had expectation.

  58. And then scripture says finally he

  59. sent his son as kind of the last

  60. word and the last warning we looked

  61. over in second Timothy as the church

  62. was kind of talking about, what's it

  63. gonna be like in the last days, right?

  64. What is it gonna look like and seem like?

  65. And what's, what's the

  66. world gonna be like?

  67. And we talked about how there's gonna

  68. be very difficult, times hard, and.

  69. Difficult things.

  70. Maybe even as Jesus said, in this

  71. world, you'll have tribulation, but

  72. take heart, I've overcome the world.

  73. We talked a little bit about pre-trib

  74. and mid trib and post trib, and

  75. then I got lots of texts from all

  76. of you about pan trib, which means

  77. it's all gonna pan out in the end.

  78. Don't worry about it.

  79. That's cool too.

  80. I like that one.

  81. Um, but people are gonna be only loving

  82. themselves, consumed with self, right?

  83. And they're gonna love their money.

  84. We talked a little bit about

  85. this Greek word, right?

  86. This, uh, philos and, uh, gurus,

  87. which is literally friend of silver

  88. instead of being a friend of God,

  89. and that they'll be boastful, proud,

  90. arrogant, defiant, so much though

  91. that they're gonna be scoffing at God.

  92. And we looked at that Greek word a

  93. minute, which basically just, it means

  94. blasphemous, blasphemy towards God, right?

  95. And then in a twist, none of

  96. us saw coming disobedient.

  97. To their parents.

  98. Disrespectful.

  99. Disobedient to the authority

  100. that God's placed before them.

  101. Ultimately demonstrating an inability

  102. to be obedient and respectful to

  103. the eternal king of kings and the

  104. ultimate authority God himself.

  105. And ungrateful.

  106. We kinda wrapped up our time

  107. talking about gratitude and

  108. being full of gratitude, right?

  109. And how, in a funny kinda weird

  110. twist, it actually kind of like

  111. undoes all of these things, right?

  112. Selfishness and coveting don't work with

  113. gratitude, arrogance, defiance, disrespect

  114. for God, for parents, it doesn't work.

  115. If you're being grateful and thankful

  116. for what you have and what God

  117. has done, and you're living in the

  118. expression of that gratitude, there's

  119. no room for all of this other mess.

  120. But the reality is, in the last days,

  121. this is what the world is gonna look

  122. like around us, and it's the world

  123. that we gotta navigate, the world

  124. that we marinate in, and how do we.

  125. Walk through it.

  126. Right.

  127. Pretty, pretty dark stuff.

  128. Pretty discouraging stuff.

  129. But wait,

  130. there's more.

  131. He goes on to say they will

  132. consider nothing sacred.

  133. Kind of an interesting statement.

  134. What do you consider sacred?

  135. You know, let's think about that.

  136. Like, we kind of dumb everything down and

  137. we kinda, we kind of like, you know, knock

  138. it off this pedestal of sanctity, right?

  139. The word sacred here refers

  140. to this idea of holy, of pure,

  141. of set apart, of undefiled.

  142. And I don't know if you've looked around

  143. the culture much, but there's a whole lot

  144. of stuff that seems pretty defiled to me.

  145. I, I had a chance to do like a bunch

  146. of weddings over the last couple weeks.

  147. It's been kind of fun.

  148. I had two this week and, uh, just

  149. yesterday we're at a wedding and it

  150. was really, really beautiful to have

  151. a chance to talk about the sanctity.

  152. The sacredness of covenant

  153. marriage between one man and

  154. one woman before God, right?

  155. But the marriage bed scripture says,

  156. man, it gets defiled because of our

  157. sinfulness, our impurity, and we're

  158. supposed to, as followers of Jesus,

  159. keep the marriage bed undefiled.

  160. It's supposed to be sacred.

  161. Marriage is supposed to be sacred.

  162. We live together.

  163. We just do whatever we want to do, and we

  164. sort of ignore God's very clear call to

  165. treat marriage, this sacred relationship

  166. between one man and one woman before God

  167. in a covenant that as long as you both

  168. shall live, you walk in, in faithfulness.

  169. That's important.

  170. And it's a picture, just a little

  171. snapshot of what it looks like to be

  172. in covenant relationship with God.

  173. He uses that illustration, faithfulness,

  174. selflessness, serving each other

  175. in love, not giving 50%, 50%.

  176. Dropping a hundred percent

  177. each, giving selflessly all in.

  178. That's that picture, right?

  179. And in our culture, man, marriage

  180. definitely not treated sacred.

  181. There's very little

  182. that we treat as sacred.

  183. Now, I would encourage you to think

  184. about, as a follower of Jesus,

  185. what's sacred in your life and

  186. what are you treating as sacred?

  187. I don't know if anybody's

  188. even asked you that before.

  189. I don't know if I've asked myself

  190. that before, to be honest, right?

  191. What are we treating sacred?

  192. 'cause I think there's probably a lot of

  193. stuff that we're just sorta treating and

  194. maybe even defiling the sanctity of, but

  195. this is what it's gonna look like, right?

  196. They will be unloving.

  197. The world, the culture, the society,

  198. the people are gonna be unloving.

  199. I love to talk about this, man.

  200. What is the defining characteristic

  201. of a follower of Jesus Christ?

  202. Is it how much you know?

  203. Is it your deep intellectual

  204. ability to decipher scripture

  205. and theological content?

  206. Is it Bible memorization?

  207. Is it doctrinal argument ability?

  208. Is it your church attendance

  209. with the Gold Star?

  210. What is it that defines

  211. a follower of Jesus?

  212. Right?

  213. A defining character.

  214. The defining characteristic.

  215. Jeopardy fans.

  216. What is love, right?

  217. Love Jesus said.

  218. People are gonna know,

  219. you're my disciples.

  220. Not by what you know, not by all of these

  221. different things that you might measure

  222. value and success and importance, but

  223. by the way, you love the way you love.

  224. Let your love be evident to all.

  225. I was just thinking about this today,

  226. how, you know, we sh our sharing time.

  227. I don't really know what's happening

  228. and I want you to know I'm gonna keep

  229. preaching people so you can try as hard

  230. as you want, but over the last like six

  231. weeks, it seems like we have a good 20

  232. minutes of sharing and uh, that's great.

  233. I mean it's great and it's great

  234. because you can go a lot of

  235. places and watch a lot of shows.

  236. And get a whole lot more

  237. impressive preaching.

  238. Not the jokes as much.

  239. They're pretty good here, but you know,

  240. there's a lot of places you can go to

  241. get more wowed in your church experience.

  242. But there's not a lot of places you

  243. can go to experience family and love.

  244. And that's what the church is man.

  245. It's the body of Christ,

  246. the family of God.

  247. And sometimes what you share in a sharing

  248. time hits somebody way harder than some

  249. eloquent sermon that gets unpacked or

  250. some amazing song that we introduce.

  251. You guys are important in

  252. relationship to each other and you

  253. guys embody that in a cool way.

  254. So I don't even feel like I should talk

  255. about love much 'cause you guys crush

  256. it on this whole front, but the world

  257. around us, man, it's pretty unloving.

  258. I dunno if you've noticed that lately.

  259. Not a lot of love and it's unforgiving.

  260. This word is tied to the idea here.

  261. Unforgiving of irreconcilable.

  262. Do you remember a couple weeks ago we

  263. talked about second uh Corinthians, where

  264. God has called us to be people who carry

  265. out the ministry of reconciliation, right?

  266. That God is reconciling himself

  267. through Christ and he's given us

  268. the ministry of reconciliation.

  269. He's reconciling the world, not

  270. holding men's sins against them.

  271. And he's committed to us this ministry

  272. of reconciliation as followers of Jesus.

  273. We're supposed to be about

  274. forgiveness and restoration, right?

  275. Reconciliation ought to be our

  276. middle name, but this world around

  277. us, man, why do people get divorced

  278. for, oh, irreconcilable differences.

  279. We just couldn't find a way

  280. to forgive and to be restored.

  281. And that ought to be the heartbeat

  282. of followers of Jesus, but in the

  283. world around us, we're gonna see

  284. it's not, they slander each other.

  285. Can I do this real quick?

  286. This word, I was just going

  287. to do a quick drop of the word

  288. slander, and then I started digging

  289. into this word a little bit.

  290. And if you'll just like

  291. put a mental note here.

  292. I'm just gonna give

  293. this its own week, man.

  294. This is pretty cool.

  295. So come back next week if you

  296. wanna hear more about slander.

  297. I think that's where I'm gonna go.

  298. Don't slander me if I don't do it.

  299. Deal.

  300. But just save this word.

  301. 'cause there's some power here

  302. that we need to talk about.

  303. And this will blow your

  304. mind in the last days.

  305. People are gonna have a real

  306. struggle with self-control.

  307. Now, thankfully, nobody struggles

  308. with that nowadays that we see, right?

  309. Except for everywhere.

  310. And did you know that self-control is

  311. actually one of the fruits of the spirit

  312. that are listed in scripture, right?

  313. That it ought to be something on display.

  314. Yes, it's the very last one on the

  315. list, but it still counts, right?

  316. I learned that a long time ago.

  317. Even if I was last on Jamie's list,

  318. I was still on her list, right?

  319. That's important.

  320. So self-control ought to be some evidence

  321. of the Holy Spirit at work in us.

  322. And if we have no self-control,

  323. we're just gonna go all over, man.

  324. We're gonna do some crazy stuff.

  325. Cruel and hate.

  326. What is good.

  327. The world around us will

  328. be cruel and we'll hate.

  329. What is good, man?

  330. We see this everywhere, don't we?

  331. It's reminiscent of the days of Noah.

  332. The Lord saw how great in Genesis

  333. the wickedness of the human

  334. race had become on the earth.

  335. Check this out, man.

  336. Every inclination of the heart,

  337. of the thoughts of the human

  338. heart were only evil all the time.

  339. I dunno how to describe

  340. cruel, hate, evil, wickedness.

  341. Better than that, every inclination

  342. of their heart, every impulse,

  343. desire, thought, every action

  344. of their spirit was always evil,

  345. constantly, every time, all the time.

  346. And man, we live in this world where

  347. wickedness and evil, they are rampant.

  348. And God did say in the last days it'll

  349. be as it is in the days of Noah, people

  350. will be eating and drinking and giving

  351. in marriage and marrying and doing life.

  352. And here's another reference

  353. to the days of Noah.

  354. That the wickedness and the

  355. evil will just continue.

  356. Right?

  357. Just watch what's going

  358. on with technology.

  359. I had a, a law enforcement officer

  360. tell us one time that pornography

  361. always chases technology.

  362. It's always the first one

  363. in always new technology.

  364. Pornography's first.

  365. It just is.

  366. It just always finds a

  367. way first to anything.

  368. Just reading about AI stuff yesterday,

  369. Jamie sent me something about the adult

  370. restrictions coming off of chat GPT

  371. for anybody who can sort of validate

  372. they're an adult, like just constant

  373. things are changing, changing, changing.

  374. Why?

  375. Because evil is in pursuit of you.

  376. Wickedness and sin is in pursuit of you.

  377. The prince of the power of the air is in

  378. pursuit of your spiritual destruction.

  379. You're not playing with safe phones

  380. and safe technology in a safe world.

  381. You're playing in a world that is

  382. cruel, that hates what is good.

  383. And as followers of Christ, we gotta

  384. be discerning and pay attention

  385. and walk with great integrity and

  386. with great light and great clarity.

  387. Because the enemy lurks all over

  388. trying to bring destruction.

  389. They'll betray their friends.

  390. No loyalty.

  391. They'll be reckless and careless.

  392. Destructive in how they

  393. walk in relationships.

  394. Puffed up with pride.

  395. Do you notice pride made the list twice?

  396. That's interesting, huh?

  397. Arrogance pride.

  398. Me, me, me.

  399. You know the best way to walk

  400. before God is him, him, him, him.

  401. The king is in the room.

  402. And nobody sang that song when you

  403. walked in from the bathroom and turned

  404. and said, ah, the king is in the room.

  405. Right?

  406. And yet, that's how we live, right?

  407. That we're on the throne of our own

  408. heart and God is our trusted advisor.

  409. Lemme tell you a little secret.

  410. God's on the throne of your heart and

  411. your opinion really doesn't matter.

  412. You're not his trusted advisor.

  413. You know, God, if, if I got

  414. an idea and thankfully God's

  415. like Andy, I already know.

  416. No.

  417. Right.

  418. That's just where it goes, right?

  419. Just no, just no.

  420. I'm the king.

  421. You're not with pride.

  422. This one really stinks.

  423. None of the lovers of pleasure, people

  424. who love pleasure rather than God.

  425. This phrase in a lot of translations,

  426. lovers of pleasure rather than lovers

  427. of God, instead of in place of lovers

  428. of pleasure, rather than lovers of God.

  429. It's interesting how

  430. Satan twist things, right?

  431. 'cause did Satan create pleasure?

  432. No, he didn't create pleasure.

  433. He didn't give us beautiful weather

  434. and sunrises and birds chirping,

  435. and he didn't create sexuality.

  436. God did great, great design

  437. at the end of the day, right?

  438. Like he put pleasure into his creation.

  439. But what does Satan do?

  440. He perverts.

  441. He always perverts.

  442. We use that word in a

  443. sexual connotation, right?

  444. To be a pervert, to pervert.

  445. And all it means is this to

  446. twist, to twist, to twist.

  447. Satan takes something good like

  448. pleasure, and he twists it right?

  449. He twists it so that we chase that rather

  450. than the one who created us to experience

  451. some good pleasures within a proper

  452. context of covenant marriage, right?

  453. In faithfulness in relationship and

  454. obedience, it's part, it's really like

  455. probably a hard question, but one you

  456. probably should ask yourself, right?

  457. Am, am I a love, a lover of

  458. pleasure or a lover of God?

  459. If God were to look at my personal bank

  460. account, how I spend my money and my

  461. lifetime energy bank account, how I

  462. spend my energy and my thoughts and my

  463. passions and my interests, am I a lover

  464. of pleasing myself, of experiencing

  465. pleasure or am I a guy who loves God?

  466. And I think it's important

  467. for us to ask this question.

  468. I really do.

  469. And, and here's why.

  470. Because I think God's gonna ask

  471. us this question, and it probably

  472. doesn't matter all that much

  473. about what you think about you.

  474. And you might be able to be like,

  475. well, you know, I'm not really,

  476. I think what would God say the

  477. answer to this question is?

  478. Is Andy a lover of

  479. pleasure or a lover of God?

  480. Am I a lover of pleasure

  481. or am I a lover of God?

  482. 'cause that's a really important question

  483. to answer as a follower of Jesus, because

  484. where your heart is, that's where your

  485. time, your energy, your resource, right?

  486. Your treasure is, it's where you are gonna

  487. pursue things and chase things and invest.

  488. Really how you answer this question is

  489. a pretty profound kind of examination

  490. of who owns your heart, lovers of

  491. pleasure rather than lovers of God.

  492. They'll act religious, but

  493. they'll reject the power.

  494. That could really help them, right?

  495. There's this big act going on of looking

  496. like they're religious and pious, and that

  497. they're spiritual and saying all the right

  498. things and dressing all the right ways.

  499. It's one of the reasons why I

  500. like sharing time, because you

  501. can't really, you can't pretty up

  502. sharing time at White Rock, right?

  503. People who come to our church and

  504. are very uncomfortable because you

  505. guys are raw and real and genuine.

  506. Um, a we get two kinds of people.

  507. One group of people are like,

  508. holy cow, I didn't know that

  509. was a thing in the church.

  510. I, I need to come back

  511. and watch that again.

  512. And other people who are like scared

  513. to death because they're busy acting

  514. religious and their goal is to act

  515. like they're somebody they're not.

  516. Listen, you can look around

  517. the people in this room.

  518. You can look up on this platform at all.

  519. The guys up here, okay?

  520. That's just me.

  521. And you can say there is no

  522. perfect person in this room.

  523. Not anywhere.

  524. No flawless, no perfectly

  525. pious, wonderful person.

  526. I mean, Jamie's next door

  527. helping with the teens.

  528. So otherwise she'd be like, amen.

  529. Or the preteens, or she'd be like, amen.

  530. Right?

  531. There's no perfect people here.

  532. And that's okay because we serve the

  533. perfect God and he invites us into a

  534. perfect relationship where we bring

  535. our flaws and our imperfections and

  536. we just start walking with him and

  537. he begins to transform and change us.

  538. We don't become super human

  539. and super powerful and we

  540. become awesome in ourselves.

  541. Now we, we get to experience his

  542. cool, awesome, transforming love that

  543. reshapes and molds us and changes us.

  544. And after a while we look

  545. different than the person who

  546. started a relationship with him.

  547. And that's pretty spectacular.

  548. But that all only happens when we stop

  549. acting religious and we stop acting

  550. like we're something and we just get

  551. real with who we are before the Lord.

  552. And we bring our sin, our failures,

  553. our struggles, everything we got.

  554. And we just say, Lord, here I am.

  555. What do you want to, what

  556. do you wanna change in me?

  557. What do you wanna do in me?

  558. What do you wanna do with me?

  559. Can I still hang out with you?

  560. The answer is yes.

  561. 'cause he loves you.

  562. Stay away from people

  563. like this, this list.

  564. Now, does that mean that we don't

  565. talk to anybody in the world

  566. and share the love of Jesus?

  567. Of course not.

  568. But what the scripture is saying is be

  569. careful how intimate you allow yourself

  570. to associate and how closely you get

  571. bonded at a heart level with people

  572. who are living like this, especially

  573. calling themselves followers of Jesus.

  574. Because we need to tell them, Hey

  575. guys, listen, the scripture says this.

  576. We gotta live a little differently.

  577. I'm here to help you.

  578. I love you.

  579. How can I encourage you?

  580. But if we're just being a phony

  581. follower, Jesus acting religious, and

  582. this is really the fruit of our life,

  583. we better be really careful, right?

  584. Like if this list is a friend group

  585. description for you, I would encourage you

  586. to really pray about your friend group.

  587. I don't mean like people that

  588. you would be s. Be be, you know,

  589. kind to and and cordial with.

  590. But I mean, if your friend group lives

  591. out, these values, you need to change

  592. your friend group because that's too

  593. much intimacy, too much connectedness,

  594. too much deep relationship walking

  595. together as iron sharpens iron

  596. muck, smushes muck into more muck.

  597. Right?

  598. I mean, I think that's sort of a thing.

  599. Okay, last days, here's the deal.

  600. You can argue all you want.

  601. Like I don't think we're in the last days.

  602. That's fine.

  603. The early church did.

  604. And if I had nothing but this

  605. listicle off of, I would say

  606. yeah, we're in the last days.

  607. We are.

  608. We just are.

  609. Look at the description, unless God's

  610. word is just wrong and just toss it out.

  611. But lemme just be honest with,

  612. you're gonna do that then.

  613. I don't even know why

  614. you're here this morning.

  615. Right?

  616. 'cause everything's about what

  617. he's shared and what he said

  618. and what he's revealed to us.

  619. We're in the last days, right?

  620. We are literally, I think.

  621. In the final countdown.

  622. How long is it gonna be?

  623. We don't know, but we're there.

  624. And so we gotta quit acting as a church.

  625. Like, eh, that's a long way off.

  626. Now we're there, right?

  627. And in fact, scripture says instead

  628. of being all fussy and whiny, and

  629. mopey and pouty, because we're in

  630. the last days, we're supposed to

  631. encourage one another with this.

  632. We're supposed to encourage

  633. each other, right?

  634. Hey, great news.

  635. It's the end of

  636. day.

  637. I dunno.

  638. It's the end.

  639. The end of the world.

  640. You know what RM said?

  641. I feel fine.

  642. I feel fine, right?

  643. Stupid song.

  644. But anyways, I love the chorus.

  645. Always love the chorus.

  646. It's the end of the world, and I

  647. feel fine, but as a follower of

  648. Jesus, we shouldn't just feel fine.

  649. We should probably feel good.

  650. I mean, you have to be

  651. excited about hard things.

  652. That's okay not to be like

  653. suffering, tribulation, difficulty.

  654. Yes, I was hoping, nah, none of us were.

  655. That's okay.

  656. But man, we should not feel discouraged.

  657. We should instead be encouraged

  658. and encouraging one another.

  659. Right?

  660. Scripture says in Thessalonians, therefore

  661. encourage one another with these words.

  662. And they're talking about their

  663. coming of the son of man and the end

  664. times and what it's gonna look like.

  665. Hey, when you see it coming, when you

  666. recognize you're in the last days,

  667. don't be discouraged, be encouraged.

  668. Encourage each other.

  669. 'cause we know who Jesus is.

  670. We know what our

  671. destination's gonna look like.

  672. We know there might be some hard things,

  673. man, but he is gonna fulfill his purpose

  674. and take us out of the muck and the mess

  675. and transform new heaven, new earth,

  676. amazing reality that lies before us.

  677. For those of us who are in Christ,

  678. there's a lot to be excited

  679. about and encouraged about.

  680. I love this passage in

  681. Acts in the last days.

  682. God says, I will pour out

  683. my spirit on all people.

  684. Your sons and daughters will prophesy.

  685. Your young men will see visions.

  686. Your old men will dream dreams.

  687. If you're not seeing a young

  688. generation finding their voice for

  689. Jesus, you're not paying attention.

  690. We're in some last days where young

  691. people are finding a voice to speak

  692. truth and to stand up for Jesus in

  693. their, in their campuses, in their high

  694. schools, in their sports events and,

  695. and situ, I mean all over the place.

  696. Just watch.

  697. I mean, and of course the enemy wants

  698. to drown that out, but you're not gonna

  699. be able to, 'cause there's a young

  700. generation of people who are beginning

  701. to prophesy, and I don't mean like some

  702. kinda weird spiritual gift prophecy

  703. that everybody's trying to argue about.

  704. Maybe fortune telling, future telling.

  705. I'm just saying speaking the truth in love

  706. with boldness and clarity to the world

  707. that's happening in this young generation.

  708. We're seeing it happen.

  709. And young men are gonna see visions

  710. not here's, here's cool guys.

  711. Get this.

  712. As young guys, I was always discouraged

  713. about the end of the world, and I didn't

  714. feel fine because I wanted to do stuff.

  715. I wanted to be somebody.

  716. I wanted to make a difference and

  717. have an impact and fulfillment.

  718. And that's what the scripture says, right?

  719. Young men are gonna see visions.

  720. Do you know what that means?

  721. It means they're not gonna just fade

  722. into oblivious, pointless living.

  723. They're gonna have a vision about

  724. what it can be and what life can

  725. look like, and the impact and

  726. purpose and fulfillment and meaning.

  727. That's what vision is.

  728. They have vision and purpose

  729. to what they're doing, not just

  730. meaningless wandering, right?

  731. And I love this old guys enjoy this.

  732. The old men, they're involved.

  733. Now they're taking naps, right?

  734. They have a little dream action.

  735. Let's be honest.

  736. It's okay.

  737. Get a little rest.

  738. But listen, listen, listen.

  739. I'm gonna go outta my way and probably

  740. get myself in trouble with everybody

  741. who's got more hair than me and is gray.

  742. But retirement is not a biblical concept.

  743. It's an American concept.

  744. It is not a biblical concept.

  745. You can't show me somebody

  746. in the Bible who retired.

  747. You just can't.

  748. Now, do you stop working as hard

  749. at some of the things you do?

  750. Sure.

  751. But that's just, you know,

  752. working in the nap schedule.

  753. But you're still living

  754. with purpose and meaning.

  755. Visions and dreams is a parallel

  756. to purpose and living with

  757. purpose and having vision for

  758. what you're doing with your life.

  759. And we got a whole generation that's been

  760. trained to work hard and then just play

  761. hard and be self-indulgent for the rest

  762. of your life until you step into eternity.

  763. And I'm just gonna tell you, there's

  764. gonna be a lot of people who meet

  765. Jesus and he is like, what were

  766. you doing those last 20 years?

  767. You could have served and helped

  768. and spoke and, and you could have

  769. had such an impact for eternity.

  770. But you listen to a world that said,

  771. sit on the shelf and watch right now.

  772. I get it.

  773. You're not gonna have the same pace as

  774. those young people who are rocking it.

  775. I'm learning a lot about

  776. that right now in my life.

  777. But.

  778. Don't surrender purpose and meaning.

  779. Don't buy into the world's idea

  780. that here we are in the last days.

  781. So go hide somewhere, wherever you're at.

  782. Be an influencer for Jesus.

  783. Speak truth, prophesy.

  784. Tell the truth of who Jesus is

  785. and what He's done in your life.

  786. Wherever you're at in whatever

  787. environment he's got you.

  788. That's purpose and that's

  789. meaning, and that's the call to

  790. every follower of Jesus Christ.

  791. Whether you're sitting in the front

  792. row, rocking middle school, or you're

  793. sitting in the far back rows trying

  794. to decide if you even wanna show up.

  795. 'cause it's not fun to sit in here

  796. until the air conditioning turns

  797. on and then you're cold and then

  798. you're hot and then music's too loud.

  799. It is what it is, right?

  800. We're all people and we all got stuff.

  801. But at the end of the day, I

  802. love about this church, man.

  803. We have old and we have young,

  804. and everybody has value and

  805. everybody's called the purpose.

  806. And the way you walk it

  807. out, man, it's pretty epic.

  808. Hey, little plug.

  809. Oh, we could use some more help in

  810. our children's ministry department.

  811. My wife's over there helping

  812. a couple weeks a month trying

  813. to help with the pre-teens.

  814. 'cause we need some more pre-teen workers.

  815. We need some more kids workers.

  816. We're doing great on the teen front.

  817. Josh keeps stealing 'em all 'cause he is

  818. like, come to my cholesterol, it's rough.

  819. But instead of sitting on the shelf and

  820. watching and coming and being entertained,

  821. uh, you could come talk to me.

  822. I would love to help get you connected

  823. 'cause we just need more help.

  824. 'cause if we're in the last days, it's

  825. time for God's people to be busy speaking

  826. and teaching and leading and investing.

  827. Not sitting and watching

  828. and being self-indulgent.

  829. Right?

  830. Because final countdown into

  831. the world, I don't know.

  832. But we should feel not just fine.

  833. We should feel excited and we should

  834. be ready for the return of Jesus.

  835. 'cause he's coming and when he comes,

  836. Jesus told us a little parable.

  837. He said it will be really good

  838. for that servant that when the

  839. master returns, he finds us busy at

  840. work doing what he left us to do.

  841. Unless you've got a list that Jesus

  842. gave you and it's all checked off and he

  843. signed it, I don't think anybody should

  844. be just sitting around doing nothing.

  845. God has called us to serve and to

  846. impact and to make a difference

  847. so that we're living ready.

  848. So I dunno how that applies to you,

  849. but I want to be part of a church

  850. that loves, like you guys love.

  851. It's incredible.

  852. And I wanna make sure we translate that

  853. love into service because love is action.

  854. So let's not sit on the sidelines.

  855. Let's not just sit and watch

  856. and wait for Jesus return.

  857. Let's get busy.

  858. Let's be invested and engaged

  859. and making a difference, right?

  860. Because He's coming, he's coming.

  861. Lord Jesus, thank you for

  862. the truth of your word.

  863. Thank you for the warning,

  864. but also the encouragement to

  865. be about purpose and meaning.

  866. What we have a chance and

  867. God, you know, each of us.

  868. You know where we're at, you know what

  869. gifts, talents, abilities you've given us.

  870. You know what kind of resources

  871. we're working with, time

  872. and energy and even money.

  873. But God, you have called every single

  874. one of us to not be consumed with

  875. ourself, but instead to look different

  876. than this list from second Timothy.

  877. And to be people who love and serve,

  878. are and are at work in reconciling

  879. a world who's lost to the Savior.

  880. So God, I pray that you would examine our

  881. hearts, you would speak and point really

  882. firmly to some areas in us that we need

  883. to surrender to the king, turn over to the

  884. king, and walk in obedience to the king.

  885. That we might be part

  886. of something amazing.

  887. And as you return and you show

  888. back up, instead of being like,

  889. finally you're here, we're like,

  890. Jesus, hang on one more second.

  891. I gotta make one more little impact here.

  892. 'cause we're busy trying

  893. to reach the whole world.

  894. With hope and life.

  895. Thank you for my friends here.

  896. Lord, this is an incredible family.

  897. And God, I pray you'd encourage us to be

  898. busy, not busy with the things of this

  899. world, but busy watching and pouring

  900. in that eternity would look different.

  901. Thank you for your love.

  902. In Jesus name, amen.
