  1. Oh, thanks Tom.

  2. Alright, we'll go a

  3. little more at Christmas.

  4. A little more Christmas,

  5. but it is definitely icy out there.

  6. You guys.

  7. I have been up for a long time and

  8. I'm ready for lunch right now, so,

  9. 'cause it's been a long morning of

  10. shoveling, but we gotta keep, you guys

  11. made it out here through the snow.

  12. You want a long sermon?

  13. I can see it in your eyes,

  14. Danny, don't you worry my friend.

  15. Don't you worry.

  16. So we're gonna talk today a little

  17. bit about hope because we are now

  18. officially in the advent season.

  19. I dunno if it's the same for you,

  20. but for me, I feel like I don't

  21. even know what happened in the last

  22. month to get us to Thanksgiving.

  23. And the idea that we're only

  24. like four weeks away from

  25. Christmas seems mind blowing.

  26. But here we are, four advent candles

  27. away from celebrating Christmas.

  28. And if you're not familiar with

  29. the whole advent candle idea every

  30. Sunday leading up to Christmas,

  31. we're gonna light one of these.

  32. I say this in theory, we're gonna light

  33. one of these candles that lit really good.

  34. You know, last time, this may not

  35. be the hope candle, just so you

  36. know, I may have the, I may have

  37. grabbed the wrong candle here.

  38. It's nice and warm though, man.

  39. It's been so cold.

  40. Lemme tell you.

  41. Okay.

  42. This is definitely not the

  43. hope candle right there.

  44. Just so you know.

  45. That one is, that's next week's candle.

  46. There's the right candle.

  47. Dax, did we try these?

  48. Oh yeah, we did.

  49. Okay, perfect.

  50. Alright.

  51. Alright there, there you go.

  52. I was starting to run short on

  53. hope there for a minute, but

  54. then the Hope Candle showed up.

  55. Well, we're gonna take a look just

  56. a little bit today at Hope as we

  57. look ahead at the coming of Jesus

  58. and the celebration that's before us

  59. because our God is the God of hope.

  60. Over in Romans 15, verse four, it

  61. says this, for everything that was

  62. written, everything that was written

  63. in the past, right, the scriptures

  64. they were written to teach us.

  65. So that through the endurance

  66. taught in the scriptures this,

  67. this promised Messiah, the.

  68. The arrival through prophecy and

  69. God showing up to his people time

  70. and time again that Emmanuel would

  71. come to Israel and as Paul said, we

  72. are the Israel of God, God's people.

  73. That salvation would come, this endurance

  74. that for years people held onto hope.

  75. We see it in the scriptures and we get

  76. to experience it today knowing that the

  77. Messiah has come and the encouragement

  78. that these scriptures provide, the

  79. endurance, the perseverance, the

  80. encouragement, they all lead us to a

  81. place where we can experience real hope.

  82. No matter what our circumstances

  83. are, no matter what the situations

  84. that we're facing are, no matter

  85. what the world around us looks like

  86. in the moments that we live, we

  87. have hope anchored deep in our God.

  88. The God who is the God

  89. scripture says of hope, right?

  90. He's not the God who knows about hope.

  91. He's not the God who helps

  92. us think about being hopeful.

  93. He is the God whose substance is a hope.

  94. He's the God of hope.

  95. Scripture says over in if we continue,

  96. Romans 1513, it says, may this God of

  97. hope fill you with all joy and peace.

  98. Spoiler alert some candles coming down

  99. the road as you trust in him, so that you

  100. may overflow with hope, right by not your

  101. own strength, not by your own ability,

  102. but by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  103. And this word hope in the Greek, this

  104. word El peace, it means expectation.

  105. It has this picture of expecting

  106. something to play out, expecting

  107. something, but it's not just

  108. expectation, it's confident expectation.

  109. It's a sense of surety.

  110. It's not hoping, this is crazy, right?

  111. The, the Greek definition of

  112. the word hope isn't hoping.

  113. It's knowing that God will deliver

  114. and that God will provide and that

  115. God will do what he said he will do.

  116. It's confident expectation and this

  117. phrase, the God of all hope is a picture

  118. of the foundation of hope as though

  119. God himself is the thing on which all

  120. hope is built, which is a great picture

  121. and that he is the author of Hope,

  122. that he's the one who came up with

  123. the concept and first wrote it down so

  124. that we could all experience what hope.

  125. Is he is the God of all hope.

  126. And as we approach Christmas time, we

  127. get busy with a lot of different stuff.

  128. And we look back at the original

  129. days of Bethlehem and Judea and

  130. shepherds and people doing their stuff.

  131. Hope was starting to fade and dwindle

  132. years of silence and darkness when

  133. this savior of the world shows up

  134. burning brightly, the light of hope.

  135. And God gives hope to his people today

  136. for all that we face and all that we've

  137. go through because he is the God of hope.

  138. Well, I hope you're ready because

  139. we're gonna do something a

  140. little different this morning.

  141. It's a holiday weekend.

  142. We got lots of people stuffing

  143. their face this day with their

  144. friends and family and other places.

  145. You guys were full.

  146. So you came to church, which is great.

  147. Um.

  148. I really someday want to have a Turkey

  149. communion on Thanksgiving weekend.

  150. I just feel like there's nothing

  151. more White rock in my mind.

  152. But we're gonna do something a

  153. little special this morning and we're

  154. gonna take a little family walk.

  155. I dunno like, I dunno if you guys have

  156. spent time, um, with family over the last

  157. few days, but sometimes, like grandma and

  158. grandpa, they wanna tell a story, right?

  159. Or multiple stories, or your uncle or

  160. your aunt, they wanna share some things.

  161. Well, we are gonna have a little

  162. family fun taking a walk together back

  163. through what God's done as part of our

  164. church family and maybe a little bit

  165. of what he's in the process of doing.

  166. So I'm gonna invite my dad to come up here

  167. and join me, which is always, yeah, yeah.

  168. You guys applaud and I get nervous.

  169. I mean, two different

  170. reactions, but it's all good.

  171. Of course he always got nervous

  172. when he handed me this mic, right?

  173. Yeah.

  174. Oh, he did?

  175. Yeah.

  176. Believe it.

  177. Hey, hey, look, since you're up

  178. here, man, we could do like a three

  179. generations thing and just Wow.

  180. That's okay.

  181. You're good.

  182. All right.

  183. All right.

  184. Thank you, ma'am.

  185. So we're gonna take a little look

  186. back and, and you know what, Debbie,

  187. we may have to dim these lights just

  188. a little bit because, uh, white rack

  189. technology wall at its peak right

  190. now was not always at its peak.

  191. And so some of these pictures might

  192. be pretty sketch, so you'll probably

  193. have to kill these top lights.

  194. Just snap 'em all off, boom, boom, boom.

  195. Or just keep going.

  196. You doing great.

  197. You haven't, haven't

  198. started one of those yet.

  199. Very top ones.

  200. 1, 2, 3, boom, boom, boom.

  201. Hey, technology is good.

  202. We go.

  203. Hey, all.

  204. Great job.

  205. All right.

  206. Alright.

  207. Is that on?

  208. Uh, yeah, it's green.

  209. Okay.

  210. Yep.

  211. You're little red gear.

  212. I'm just turned down so that I can't.

  213. Yeah.

  214. Yeah.

  215. Debbie might have that turned down.

  216. I'm not sure why.

  217. Um, this is dangerous 'cause I

  218. mentioned, you know, everybody's been

  219. up shoveling this morning, so this just

  220. got real comfortable and real relaxed.

  221. So we'll try our best to, uh, to walk

  222. through some things here together.

  223. Uh, from the very beginning White Rock

  224. Fellowship, our church family held

  225. onto this idea where faith finds a way.

  226. Now you might interpret that

  227. as we're gonna do dumb stuff

  228. that only God could produce.

  229. Yes, that's true.

  230. We're gonna take risks and

  231. stretch and do things that are

  232. ridiculous and that's also true.

  233. But it's because God is the God of

  234. all hope and the idea of faith and

  235. hope are so intertwined that they

  236. really can't be differentiated.

  237. Where hope finds a way

  238. where faith finds a way.

  239. That was kind of the story of,

  240. of our church family years ago.

  241. In what, what year was this?

  242. 1996. I think.

  243. Holy cow.

  244. I have hair.

  245. Yep.

  246. That's still slender and trim.

  247. That's a great picture.

  248. Our family came here

  249. to Noblesville, right?

  250. Mm-hmm.

  251. Right.

  252. You don't wanna have any of this stuff.

  253. I got you looking at that stuff.

  254. Yeah, you have to hold that.

  255. You gotta hold that right in front of you.

  256. Those people.

  257. You gotta hold it way up

  258. in front of your lips.

  259. Way up in front of my lip there.

  260. Okay.

  261. Yeah.

  262. I don't recognize those people.

  263. No, no.

  264. That looks like,

  265. yeah.

  266. Anyways, moving on.

  267. Guess traumatizing for all of us.

  268. We came to Noblesville to try to

  269. reach people for the Lord, and we

  270. started in like your Our House, right?

  271. In our house right there in cul-de-sac,

  272. right over here in North Harbor.

  273. Yeah.

  274. We tried to school a little bit.

  275. They let us do that for a couple weeks

  276. and then eventually we made our way

  277. to the four H building over there,

  278. put up this little billboard in town

  279. and put up some flyers that said, do

  280. you hate church, but love God, white

  281. Rock Fellowship, the alternative.

  282. That was popular.

  283. It was.

  284. We had a lot.

  285. Still there are people

  286. that still remember that.

  287. Yeah.

  288. Yeah.

  289. Uh, there, they'll call and say, are

  290. you the people that put up that sign?

  291. Yeah.

  292. Say, yeah.

  293. Now, one of the things maybe

  294. that goes in here that we ought

  295. to put in right at the start.

  296. Okay.

  297. They used to say the sign of a good

  298. church is one that never had enough money.

  299. You never had enough people and you

  300. never had a way to get anything done

  301. that you really wanted to get done.

  302. So we were a really good

  303. church right from the start.

  304. That's, that is good.

  305. That is good.

  306. Hey, there's some of those people who

  307. had no idea what they were doing with us.

  308. No, that's not quite true.

  309. They, they made up some of our

  310. early nucleus of people who, uh.

  311. Is that at a bap?

  312. That's at a baptism, isn't it?

  313. Out there at the, that's a baptism over.

  314. Yeah.

  315. Sorry guys.

  316. This might become one of those moments

  317. where dad goes nostalgic and we're sitting

  318. around Thanksgiving talking about that.

  319. Back in the day moment, that early

  320. group had no idea what they were in for.

  321. Eventually leaving.

  322. Do you see Yeah, Jerry and

  323. Melissa in there anywhere?

  324. Uh, not in this one, but hang in there.

  325. Hang in there.

  326. Okay.

  327. This is even like pre Jerry and Melissa.

  328. This is, no, it's not.

  329. Jerry and Melissa were

  330. there from the beginning.

  331. Jerry and Melissa skipped

  332. the baptism service.

  333. They did.

  334. We'll just keep, we'll just keep moving.

  335. Okay.

  336. So eventually God brought us this, this

  337. amazing parcel over on Highway 38 where we

  338. got busy building a church building That's

  339. Jamie up there putting up some plywood.

  340. Nice job babe.

  341. Looks impressive.

  342. And, uh, we put some signage up

  343. and kind of got busy working.

  344. Uh, it's the building where life

  345. church meets now that, uh, we built

  346. years ago and, uh, could tell.

  347. And this amazing crew of staff

  348. guys, which only two are left.

  349. I don't know where the other

  350. ones got free and took off, but

  351. God's done some neat things.

  352. They ran, they ran, God allowed us

  353. to do some really cool ministry.

  354. And, uh, that facility, that's

  355. a really pretty picture there.

  356. And, uh, look at these

  357. young guys right there.

  358. Oh, handsome young fellows there.

  359. Those kids up there, Jerry and Ron.

  360. It's good to see you guys up there.

  361. I think that's Mike not paying

  362. attention in the back row too,

  363. but he's not here today, right?

  364. This is our young adult group.

  365. Speaking of young people, rusty

  366. and Debbie up there on the left

  367. corner, there's Jerry and Melissa and

  368. Scott, you're hiding out in there.

  369. Grace, you're Tracy.

  370. So Tracy's trying to duck.

  371. It's not working.

  372. Tracy, we see you in that photo, but

  373. young adult canoe trip in the White River.

  374. All kinds of fun.

  375. We had some dramas.

  376. Very dramatic group of people

  377. still, uh, still a crazy crew.

  378. It's kind of traumatized.

  379. And of course.

  380. The horse trough that, uh, kind

  381. of was all part of our adventure.

  382. Our youth group, like

  383. Ryan and Russell there.

  384. And, uh, Allison's in the middle.

  385. Allison's in there, right in the,

  386. that's a great picture there, Allison.

  387. Then I think we got, even like Nick

  388. and, uh, Jarret made it into our kids

  389. program stuff, man, we had so much fun.

  390. Did so many crazy adventures.

  391. Vacation Bible schools and cowboy

  392. kids rodeos and there's Clayton

  393. up there and Dorian and Susie's

  394. still clowning around at White Rock

  395. Justise there and Serena and Nick.

  396. All kinds of adventures

  397. that we had together.

  398. We took men's retreats to Pine River,

  399. Minnesota and kind of staked our

  400. claim to some really good things

  401. that, uh, God was at work doing.

  402. That was kind of that whole chapter over

  403. on Highway 38 that God led us through

  404. and, uh, eventually some things played out

  405. with the denomination that we had started.

  406. White rock with and we ended

  407. up having to go, well, we were

  408. still going the same direction.

  409. They kind of took a hard left and we ended

  410. up having to kind of step away from that.

  411. And the Lord took us to the Great Escape

  412. Theater, which was kind of a crazy cool

  413. God thing where we got to do church

  414. out in the community for five years.

  415. It didn't always say

  416. White Rock at 10 o'clock.

  417. There were some other inappropriate

  418. names above our marquee when church

  419. started, but uh, we loaded in.

  420. You don't realize like in five years

  421. of loading in that it only rained on

  422. us five recorded days in five years.

  423. I don't know what we were doing

  424. wrong those days, but man,

  425. it brings back some trauma.

  426. PTSD trying to set up as fast

  427. as you possibly could to get

  428. ready to do worship and to lead.

  429. And we would pack out the theater.

  430. You know how hard it is to pay attention

  431. when it smells like popcorn at church?

  432. Lemme tell you that we got the

  433. goof off in the kids' wing.

  434. That was a ton of fun.

  435. Hang out with these little

  436. turkeys like Josiah and Taylor.

  437. Wow, that's a little rough man.

  438. Joe and his bathrobe.

  439. Gotta make that one in

  440. there, so that's good.

  441. Our, our youth group kids, they had

  442. a great time playing dance, dance

  443. revolution all the time, so that was cool.

  444. I think that's Preston up there,

  445. Patty hiding out there in that space.

  446. And of course the horse

  447. trough made it there too.

  448. We got to do some baptism out on the,

  449. on the, uh, what do you even call that?

  450. The patio or the front curb Get away.

  451. Yeah.

  452. I dunno what Rusty's doing.

  453. You on it or no?

  454. No.

  455. You're singing.

  456. Singing.

  457. I'm kidding.

  458. Got to do baptisms in

  459. the front of the theater.

  460. That's a pretty big deal.

  461. Most people don't get

  462. baptized at the theater.

  463. And while we were out in the community

  464. for five years doing church at the

  465. Great Escapee Theater, meanwhile

  466. up on Kerrigan Road, which is right

  467. here, Sculley and Kerrigan Road.

  468. We were busy digging our own grave

  469. or no, that's not totally true.

  470. We were setting up shop, um, pretty.

  471. Pretty interesting that these,

  472. these two guys, we like to

  473. call them the dynamic duo.

  474. If you've ever worked with Eric

  475. and Derek, I'm sorry that we don't

  476. have a piece of plywood for you

  477. two guys to carry around up here.

  478. Yes, we definitely,

  479. definitely, we blew that.

  480. We'll get you one next time.

  481. This, uh, this section right

  482. here wasn't always here.

  483. It was just that front section.

  484. The Lord allowed us to

  485. purchase that property.

  486. Uh, when we left the other building, uh,

  487. kind of walked away from everything we'd

  488. invested and, and, uh, put into that.

  489. We, we walked away from what, uh,

  490. they figured that we didn't put in that

  491. we as a group of people put over $900,000

  492. of material and labor into that building,

  493. and it's part of our legacy that Andy just

  494. touched on, but we have never lost track.

  495. Of the principles that we believe

  496. in from the very beginning.

  497. And we voted 100% of our adult

  498. membership, 100% of those who

  499. attended and weren't members.

  500. And we even voted 100% of all of our

  501. kids that were too young to vote.

  502. And we walked away with nothing

  503. and moved into that theater.

  504. Oh, we had a, a trailer and

  505. some, some, uh, sound equipment.

  506. Sound equipment, yeah.

  507. And we had Rusty.

  508. Yeah.

  509. So he got to come along and God

  510. has honored that all the way along.

  511. Yeah, he has.

  512. Yeah.

  513. And you know, we put these signs up

  514. right away because as we left the

  515. building over on Highway 38, the

  516. Lord, uh, really had sitting here for

  517. us, uh, fully furnished, uh, state.

  518. Approved daycare, um, that we were

  519. able to move our kids on the rock, uh,

  520. children's program with 75 families.

  521. We got to move right up there.

  522. So during the week we got to do

  523. stuff out of this building, run our

  524. daycare ministry in our community,

  525. and still do church in the theater.

  526. But God had more plans for this space.

  527. He brought us this amazing, uh, barn.

  528. You know, when somebody gifts

  529. you a barn, you don't say no.

  530. That's what we've learned.

  531. But if you were a part of that adventure

  532. over in Zionsville, somebody was tearing

  533. down this huge field house barn to put

  534. up a subdivision, and they said, if

  535. you can tear it down, you can have it.

  536. Which that was the kind of

  537. deal my dad's always into.

  538. So yes, as a church,

  539. we, we tore down a barn.

  540. I mean that some churches

  541. do barn raisings.

  542. We do barn tearing downs.

  543. It's a totally, it's a totally different

  544. kind of thing, but that's where our

  545. basketball court stuff came from.

  546. That's underneath your seats right there

  547. underneath that blue carpet back there.

  548. Are 3,654 individual strips of the

  549. bird's eye maple floor floating floor

  550. that were numbered, we took apart.

  551. Mm-hmm.

  552. The teens numbered every

  553. one of those floor.

  554. Uh, Joe Murray likes to take credit for

  555. numbering every single one of those.

  556. What's that?

  557. Joe Murray likes to take credit

  558. for remembering every single

  559. one of those Joe's in here,

  560. so doesn't get to talk back.

  561. Okay.

  562. Okay.

  563. And we stored those in

  564. somebody's garage for five years.

  565. Yeah.

  566. At least not in a controlled area.

  567. Brought 'em back in and put every one

  568. of 'em back in in order and we didn't

  569. even have to repaint a line on 'em.

  570. So that's quite a

  571. miracle in and of itself.

  572. We have a lot of people who like puzzles.

  573. That's the problem I think.

  574. Well, there is that.

  575. So we were able to, to take a bunch

  576. of that stuff, recycle some things and

  577. use some to help build the addition

  578. that, uh, is next door where we do

  579. our children's ministry stuff in.

  580. Got to build that together

  581. as a whole group of folks.

  582. And God was at work doing

  583. some really cool things.

  584. We got some playground equipment

  585. donated, uh, that was pretty epic.

  586. Just a lot of cool things that God

  587. did in that space to allow us to add

  588. on that addition that's next door.

  589. And uh, do some cool ministry.

  590. We got to do fish fries and we

  591. got to make chocolate covered

  592. bacon and do stuff at the fair.

  593. I don't know what Nate's doing.

  594. Um, we did a lot of cool adventures

  595. with children's ministry and

  596. youth ministry gave us a place to

  597. operate and do all kinds of stuff.

  598. And we were even for a couple

  599. years there, I think it was about

  600. almost two full years, we got to do

  601. church in the building next door.

  602. And uh, there's a horse

  603. trough still at work.

  604. Still at work.

  605. I think in this corner up here, there's

  606. like Jerry and Melissa and Nate's

  607. asleep and Scott's pretending to pray.

  608. Yeah.

  609. So I mean, there's a few people

  610. in there that, uh, might recognize

  611. themselves in that space.

  612. And then eventually God allowed

  613. us to expand over into this

  614. section of the property.

  615. And, uh, we got to work building what

  616. we're in right now, this worship center.

  617. Lots of people did a lot of work and

  618. it's still standing, which is impressive

  619. with the crew that we put to use.

  620. But uh, in one day we put

  621. all of these walls up.

  622. So I guess we did kind of do some, uh,

  623. barn raising a little bit as we got going.

  624. And everybody worked hard.

  625. A lot of great father son moments there.

  626. And there were a lot of mother daughter

  627. moments too, but the moms wouldn't

  628. let us play with the hammers as much.

  629. So cool stuff that God did.

  630. And we worked together to build that

  631. whole thing out, put on the trusses.

  632. Safety was a premium.

  633. Hard hats, as you can tell

  634. with your kids on the lift.

  635. A lot of cool stuff.

  636. And God really allowed us then to

  637. have this space where we are able

  638. to do a lot of cool ministry things.

  639. And of course, you know, break out

  640. the horse tr again, look at that

  641. sharp looking guy right there, huh?

  642. Very much so.

  643. Uh, where faith finds a way.

  644. Alright, Debbie, we can bring those

  645. lights back up because gotta go

  646. ahead and wake everybody back up.

  647. Yeah, I know, right?

  648. I was getting comfortable too.

  649. That was pretty nice.

  650. Pretty nice.

  651. Yeah.

  652. You better wake everybody up right

  653. in this section, right, right here?

  654. Yeah.

  655. That's good.

  656. Good work, Finn.

  657. All right.

  658. Okay, so, so you ready?

  659. Yeah.

  660. Alright.

  661. Well we were here at the start.

  662. Obviously Andy was here at the start.

  663. Rest of our family, we

  664. felt called to come here.

  665. You know, that's a term that.

  666. These days, a lot of, uh,

  667. pastors are looking for a job.

  668. Uh, nobody should be looking

  669. for a job in ministry.

  670. They're, they're too many hours.

  671. Too few pay for that or too little.

  672. Uh, but we felt called

  673. by the Lord to come.

  674. And so we came.

  675. That's how we got into all the buildings

  676. when you saw the four H area there.

  677. Okay.

  678. That was the joke became, if you can

  679. find us, you can attend church with us.

  680. Because there were all sorts of mornings

  681. we'd show up and they'd say, oh, oh,

  682. you're not in this building this morning.

  683. You're in the one over there.

  684. And so you went from here to there.

  685. And then there were a few mornings where

  686. we showed up saying, oh, we're sorry.

  687. We double booked.

  688. We don't have any place for you.

  689. And so we'd.

  690. Shove everybody in a car and drive

  691. to our house and say, okay, we'll

  692. have church in our house today.

  693. And so we just did that.

  694. Whatever it was, we would do it

  695. because that where faith finds

  696. the way is really, really and

  697. truly the message of our church.

  698. And God has been faithful

  699. over and over and over.

  700. Amen.

  701. Now, one of the things that you do

  702. when you start a church is you make

  703. sure that you have lots of funding.

  704. You need to have funders behind

  705. you who will underwrite everything.

  706. Okay.

  707. I thought it said there

  708. needs to be thunder.

  709. And so we looked for thunder

  710. instead of thunders, and

  711. that's kind of where it went.

  712. We just said, if God wants us

  713. here, he will provide the way.

  714. Now how, I don't know.

  715. I built a lot of houses and redid

  716. a lot of things, whatever I could,

  717. I made Ron Harper, when he started

  718. coming, he had to get up on the

  719. roof and help carry shingles.

  720. Right, Ron?

  721. Okay.

  722. I, I wanted, I wanted some acknowledgement

  723. of that when we were insulating this whole

  724. building, we did that one day, put up

  725. all the fiberglass insulation everywhere.

  726. We walked out there after dark and

  727. rusty laid on his back on the concrete

  728. and he said, you tried to kill me and

  729. with all the heartfelt emotion I could.

  730. I said, yeah, but I failed.

  731. And he said, yeah, but you tried.

  732. I said, yeah, but I failed.

  733. It's okay.

  734. Right.

  735. And you're still okay?

  736. I dunno.

  737. Okay.

  738. Well there is that.

  739. You know, we did whatever he could have.

  740. Andy would've showed all the you.

  741. He doesn't have time to

  742. show you all the pictures.

  743. We got all these little kids running

  744. through the footers out here and

  745. helping to put the footers down.

  746. We didn't know that you could

  747. like, raise millions of dollars

  748. and pay people to do stuff.

  749. No, we thought you had

  750. to build it yourself.

  751. That's right.

  752. If you build it, they will come.

  753. Correct.

  754. Was that the Okay?

  755. I just, and, and everything that

  756. isn't perfect is just a beauty mark.

  757. You know, you could look and we

  758. built the building over in 38.

  759. We built this, we did the addition there.

  760. You know, we kept, we looked for

  761. this place over here because it

  762. did have a daycare and at that

  763. time there were three daycares that

  764. closed in the Noblesville area here.

  765. And the people got a notice that in

  766. two weeks the daycare is closing.

  767. You need to find another

  768. place for your kids.

  769. And we had almost 70 kids.

  770. And our church board said, you know what?

  771. We made a commitment to those people.

  772. We have to keep that commitment somehow.

  773. That's what I mean about principle.

  774. And God honors principle,

  775. when you are willing to stand.

  776. He finds a way to make that work

  777. sometimes at the last minute.

  778. And we have paid down our debt to buy

  779. this, to put up the building over there.

  780. To put the building here.

  781. Uh, and since it's a good time

  782. for Thanksgiving, we should have

  783. done this last week when you were

  784. talking about thankful giving.

  785. Man, we messed up Andy.

  786. Okay.

  787. I have my own little

  788. private dream, if you will.

  789. I started this whole mess.

  790. Of good things.

  791. The church and bad things.

  792. Church.

  793. Church.

  794. The church.

  795. Yeah.

  796. The church.

  797. Yeah.

  798. Well, I, we don't call it the mess.

  799. I started the mess with you too.

  800. You wasn't for me.

  801. You wouldn't be here while your mother is.

  802. Well, yeah, but there

  803. is that, so go to that.

  804. That be good?

  805. Yeah.

  806. We shouldn't have even brought that up.

  807. Okay.

  808. Josiah told me he was

  809. thankful for grandma and I.

  810. Yeah.

  811. The other day she said I wouldn't be here.

  812. Yeah.

  813. Without you two.

  814. So see, it runs in the family.

  815. He understands.

  816. That's good.

  817. Okay.

  818. Listen, we've always been about

  819. natural church development here.

  820. Yes.

  821. It's always good natural

  822. church development.

  823. You bet.

  824. And thank you Gray and

  825. Andrew for doing your part.

  826. So far you've done twice

  827. as much as everybody else.

  828. Yeah.

  829. Okay.

  830. But it's been just a, a dream of mine

  831. that by the time God was done with me.

  832. That we would have that debt paid off.

  833. And we have, we can put the

  834. number up there if it's there.

  835. Yeah.

  836. Well before we do though, I was just

  837. gonna say real quick, 'cause some

  838. of you may be newer to White Rock.

  839. My, my dad has been a church

  840. planter his whole life.

  841. And so we as a family were, I mean,

  842. I went to four different elementary

  843. schools, two different junior highs

  844. and three different high schools.

  845. And Jamie thinks that I have

  846. issues, but I don't understand.

  847. I don't see it.

  848. But we moved all the time and all

  849. over the place to just go where

  850. God wants us to go with nothing.

  851. Like I think dad's life verse

  852. was, you know, Hey disciples,

  853. don't take a cloak with you.

  854. Don't take a purse, just show up.

  855. Right.

  856. And we just did those things.

  857. We would just go to places.

  858. We would go to places you're

  859. not really supposed to go to.

  860. I was telling Jamie the other day

  861. about that big megachurch out in

  862. uh, Portland, that your buddy from

  863. college ran and invited you to come

  864. be the, uh, pastor of evangelism.

  865. Yeah.

  866. And I would've been in high school out

  867. there that whole time at a big church

  868. and wouldn't have to build stuff.

  869. Mm-hmm.

  870. And I looked back at that and instead

  871. we went to a place called Holyoke,

  872. Colorado, which I mean, you can't

  873. even look it up 'cause nobody wants

  874. to even talk about it from Holyoke.

  875. Right.

  876. This little town in the middle of nowhere

  877. with nothing in the church that the

  878. basement or the floor was caving in.

  879. Right.

  880. Yeah.

  881. Because we knew that's

  882. what God wanted us to do.

  883. Yeah.

  884. So part of the legacy of this

  885. crazy adventure of White Rock has

  886. always been just what does God

  887. want us to do And let's go do it.

  888. Yeah.

  889. It didn't matter if we could, that,

  890. that was, I didn't even know people

  891. had those kind of conversations.

  892. Right.

  893. Can we afford, that's not a conversation.

  894. Should, should, like are we capable?

  895. That's not a conversation.

  896. Mm-hmm.

  897. It's just simply what

  898. does God want us to do?

  899. Amen.

  900. And then we walk in

  901. faith and try to do that.

  902. And so all along, that's

  903. been the adventure.

  904. It was, it was a crazy miracle to be

  905. able to get into the four H building

  906. when back in 1996 you could meet at a

  907. school for, what was it, four weeks.

  908. And you had to have plans approved

  909. and property built, uh, to be

  910. able to get that clearance.

  911. 'cause the schools wanted no churches

  912. coming in and, and renting space.

  913. We couldn't find access to anything.

  914. We tried everything.

  915. And the four H building

  916. was, we thought a godsend.

  917. And then when we got property over

  918. there on Highway 38, we were blown

  919. away at all of the possibilities.

  920. And we put everything into it we could.

  921. And it's crazy, but when we say

  922. we built it, like it wasn't,

  923. it wasn't like we contracted.

  924. We literally like drove the screws

  925. and the nails and, and all of us like

  926. who were part of a church, the people

  927. in those pictures, they're tired.

  928. You, you're tired, right?

  929. Like we've built stuff with our bare

  930. hands and we've worked together and

  931. we watched God do miraculous stuff.

  932. I still remember at that building

  933. over there, I was in charge

  934. of putting all the nails in.

  935. Uh, we had pinned up the,

  936. the flanges for the windows.

  937. Yeah.

  938. And you were going somewhere And I

  939. was in charge of going back off and

  940. nailing off all the flanges, right?

  941. So there's like maybe 50 nails

  942. in a flange all the way around.

  943. And in the back of my truck

  944. I dug out a styrofoam cup of

  945. nails and that's all I had.

  946. And I was like, well Lord, you know,

  947. there's that whole Elijah Bread thing.

  948. I'm just gonna start and see what happens.

  949. 'cause we had to get this stuff done and

  950. I just started just pulling nails out.

  951. And guys, I nailed off like, what

  952. was it, 16 windows and I can't do

  953. that math, but it was cup after cup

  954. after cup that should have been.

  955. And God, just like you had people

  956. show up who were willing to just.

  957. Do the work for nothing.

  958. For things, correct.

  959. I mean, God just did miraculous things.

  960. You know one of, one of the

  961. things I'm wanna interrupt you.

  962. No.

  963. That you're talking about right.

  964. Interrupted Jesus Square, every

  965. building that we have built for

  966. the church, God, God, God just did,

  967. like you say, incredible things.

  968. But not only that, there were people that

  969. came to help not getting paid, but they

  970. just came to help and ended up giving

  971. their heart to Jesus right there in the

  972. construction project, down in the trenches

  973. where we were digging the sewer lines.

  974. One guy that was a salesman

  975. for the company drove all the

  976. way from over east of Green.

  977. Which one's?

  978. Which one's?

  979. East, Southeast, Greenfield.

  980. He lived east of there.

  981. He called me, he.

  982. I need to come up, check on the project.

  983. I said, great.

  984. Come on up.

  985. I'll be here.

  986. He pulled into our old driveway

  987. there where we still just had

  988. gravel and dirt and he sat there

  989. and never got out of his car.

  990. He just started crying and

  991. he said, I was just praying.

  992. I was, I didn't know what to do.

  993. And he said, the only thing that

  994. kept coming to me was go up to

  995. that church that they're building.

  996. There will be help there.

  997. And so we stood out there beside his

  998. car and he gave his heart to Jesus.

  999. And those things happened over and over.

  1000. They happened here.

1001. They happened because it was like,

  1002. if we're a church where God's

1003. gonna be, then he needs to show up.

  1004. And he did.

1005. And I, I will talk about the

1006. financial thing here in a minute.

1007. Not just that one, but all the way along.

1008. We had to find God, show up and do

1009. things that we were incapable of doing.

1010. If God didn't show up,

  1011. it wasn't gonna happen.

  1012. That's what Andy's been

  1013. talking about there.

1014. And as a church, you know, you

1015. guys over the years have asked me

1016. to write down the story of these

1017. things so it doesn't get lost.

1018. And maybe my wife will get

1019. busy and get that done for me,

  1020. but

1021. it, it, it is a miracle that we are here.

1022. Over in that building on 38, we as a

1023. church led over 600 people to Jesus.

1024. And all, but a handle, handful of

1025. them went to Grace, went to Northview.

1026. I always would say, you know, you guys,

1027. you could at least show up and try us one

1028. Sunday and see if we're worth attending.

1029. And, uh, but it's okay.

1030. They made their way into the kingdom.

  1031. Yeah.

1032. And you know, it's been an adventure.

1033. And when we needed to see God, you

1034. know, most people never experience

1035. God doing something beyond themselves.

1036. What, what's a verse was, I can do all

1037. things through Christ who strengthens me.

  1038. Mm-hmm.

  1039. Okay.

1040. Our idea of that is I can do all

  1041. things myself because I don't know

1042. how to have God do something I can't.

  1043. Okay.

1044. When you experience that as a church,

1045. what that does is it's helped you to

1046. say, well, okay, if God could do that,

1047. then I bet you can do more than that.

1048. And so we would start there.

1049. So that's the biggest lead in

1050. I can do for the next part.

  1051. Well I think, I think the

1052. bottom line is just simply this.

1053. You guys are part of the legacy.

  1054. Amen.

1055. Of hope that God has been

1056. at work producing in us.

1057. And man, the, the things that

1058. God has done and the things that

1059. our God is capable of doing.

1060. I like to use the word ridiculous

  1061. 'cause they're just ridiculous.

  1062. Mm-hmm.

1063. Uh, there's just no reason.

  1064. There's no rational reason

1065. for some of the things.

1066. God is able to just make happen.

1067. And he has been so good and so

1068. faithful and he has walked so.

1069. Kindly with us through our

  1070. myriad of crazy adventures.

1071. Uh, and we've tried really hard to

1072. be faithful to him and to walk in

1073. obedience and, uh, you know, as a

1074. church just could not be prouder of

1075. our family and what you guys have done.

  1076. Yeah.

1077. And, uh, and we're excited

  1078. about what God's doing.

1079. And, um, you were gonna say

  1080. something about, uh, wanting

1081. to, to knock some things out as

1082. your big checklist for Correct.

1083. So one of the things that is a part,

1084. and if you're new here, you need

1085. to hear this so you understand it.

1086. If you've ever gone to church anywhere,

1087. almost every church has a ruling

1088. body, which would be their board

1089. or whatever they want to call it.

1090. And that is a business board.

1091. Do you know the difference

  1092. between that and.

  1093. What do we have?

  1094. A spiritual board.

  1095. Spiritual board, business board.

1096. You sit down and say, this

1097. is how much money we have.

1098. This is what people we have,

1099. this is the opportunity we have.

1100. Now what can we do with that?

  1101. That's a business board.

  1102. Okay?

1103. A spiritual board is sitting down

1104. together as a group, getting on our

1105. knees before God and saying, okay,

1106. God, what do you want us to do?

1107. And when we understand what it

1108. is that he wants us to do, then

1109. it's our job to sit down and say,

1110. huh, okay, how can we do that?

  1111. And there's numbers of you who've

1112. served over the years in those places,

  1113. and it's not necessarily a comfortable

1114. place to be, but it's a good place.

1115. And so the piece of property that you're

1116. setting on here, I forget what we.

1117. Even had to pay for this and

1118. then had to put into it to add

1119. the addition and the addition.

1120. But, uh, when we thought nobody would

1121. work with us, bless Farmer's Bank because

1122. they did the Farmer's Bank, and when we

1123. dedicated this building, they were here.

1124. And, uh, they just stood beside

1125. us and every time there was a

1126. hiccup, they said, no problem.

  1127. We'll make it work.

  1128. No problem.

  1129. It's good.

1130. So we were very thankful for them,

1131. but we, we had quite an indebtedness.

1132. And I'm gonna put this up here.

1133. This is what the indebtedness is today.

1134. Maybe you're gonna put it up there.

  1135. Okay.

  1136. 299,581. Okay.

1137. The tax appraisal on the

  1138. property where you're setting.

1139. We didn't put that up there, but it's

1140. worth mentioning is $3.5 million.

  1141. Okay.

1142. There are people that have

1143. talked to us that they would

1144. like to buy our property here.

  1145. Okay.

1146. And then we'd have to

  1147. build somewhere else again.

  1148. Yeah.

  1149. I'm, I'm totally against building again.

1150. I've had enough, uh, okay.

1151. In working with the bank, that figure

1152. is 5.5 million and we have in AEB of

1153. 299,000 now through the grace of God.

1154. Well, and maybe getting us down

1155. from this 300,000, like Yeah.

1156. When we left over on Highway 38,

1157. we, we had two properties that we

1158. had purchased as a church to try to

1159. expand and then we had to try to.

  1160. Sell those.

1161. And I'm pretty sure that was around

1162. 2008, which was a great time to

1163. sell property sell as I recall.

1164. Uh, so we, we incurred some

1165. indebtedness on that and we had to

1166. buy this property up here to move the

1167. daycare to added some, some expense

1168. to that building and then being able

1169. to, to pay for all this building.

1170. And so over the years, um, you guys

1171. have done an incredible job together as

1172. a church to whittle this down to being

1173. under $300,000 as our total and complete

1174. indebtedness, uh, as a, as a whole church.

1175. Um, which is crazy, uh, given

1176. all of the different crazy

1177. adventures that we've been on.

1178. Uh, so we're excited about that.

1179. And we also have, um, in hand

1180. here we have $132,000 that is, uh,

1181. designated to go to debt retirement.

1182. Um, from our board, we've been, we

1183. have some savings and some things

1184. we've been working on with some of our

1185. grant stuff and some different things.

1186. And so we have about 132,000, um, that.

1187. As you know, when we're ready to,

1188. we can put that right to our, um,

1189. total indebtedness, which brings us

1190. to a total of $167,581 of really what

1191. we're, uh, remaining here as a balance.

1192. When the bank does a commercial loan,

1193. they have a whole process cost almost

  1194. $10,000, and I was able to secure a

1195. commitment from them that they're gonna

1196. do a one year extension starting in

1197. January, and we're gonna try to retire

  1198. that $167,581 without a $10,000 appraisal.

1199. Said it's a little silly for us to want

1200. a big commercial appraisal on a property

  1201. that's less than 10% of that's well.

1202. He was saying it's, it's getting down

1203. there close to 1% of your entire thing.

  1204. We are covered.

  1205. So that was great.

1206. So here is what I would like to

1207. propose to you as a church family

1208. and help me to retire this.

1209. The church has retired as a family,

1210. but I'd love to see this go away

1211. while I'm still here and preaching.

1212. Lemme pause you there real quick

1213. because the one thing I hate in

1214. the church is talking about money.

  1215. I hate it.

1216. We never talk about money, we just don't.

  1217. Jesus talked about money

  1218. more than anything else.

  1219. He talked about.

1220. Do you know that in the New Testament,

1221. his parables and his teaching on money

1222. are the highest percentage of everything

1223. he talks about, which is crazy.

  1224. Mm-hmm.

1225. And we just don't talk about money.

1226. Probably because we grew up in the

1227. church where everybody's just always

1228. talking about money and it's like.

1229. Dude, we're all, I mean, our church has

1230. survived all of these crazy things on one

1231. ma amazing principle that as God's people,

1232. we are a church of faithful tithers.

1233. People who commit to the Lord

1234. and say, Hey, 10% of everything

1235. I have, Lord is yours.

1236. It's not even mine to kind of play with.

  1237. It's just, it's yours.

1238. And obedient giving and tithe and

1239. offerings have been a principle

1240. that God has honored through all of

1241. that crazy journey we showed you.

1242. And so, yeah, go ahead.

  1243. Oh no, no, please.

  1244. I asked.

1245. I asked Pete and Susie the

1246. other day, 'cause they've been

1247. here for 20 something years.

1248. They said, how many times have

1249. you heard me preach on tithing?

1250. And she said, maybe twice.

1251. You know how we preach about tithing?

1252. If God said it in his word, we

1253. do it because his word is true.

1254. And so you don't have to preach on giving.

1255. You just preach on God's word being true.

1256. The national average for churches

1257. of every size tithing, how many

1258. people tithe that on average?

  1259. Anybody guess 2002 to 3%

  1260. is average.

1261. Our church has always been around

1262. 80% without talking about time.

1263. If you believe God's word, which you

1264. preach, then you're talking about it.

  1265. God honors that, right?

  1266. Yeah.

  1267. Yeah.

1268. And so, so here we are talking

1269. about money, but only because

1270. there's this older gentleman that

1271. I love a lot who's been part of the

1272. crazy adventures in my life from.

1273. Really the time I began.

1274. And as you kind of step into this

1275. season of life, looking at this,

1276. this is a, this is something that

1277. my dad has been pestering me about.

  1278. Amen.

1279. We should really talk about knocking

1280. this out so that every dime that comes

1281. in through ties and offerings doesn't

1282. have to go into any debt service.

1283. We don't have any mortgage.

1284. We can just put everything we

1285. have into ministry and not have to

1286. mess with any of our indebtedness.

1287. And I've been like, yeah, yeah, dad.

1288. Yep, we should do that.

  1289. We should do that.

1290. And then finally I beat him down and I got

1291. honoring my father and mother.

  1292. Right.

  1293. Amen.

  1294. Amen.

1295. Well, he is not wrong, is he, Tim, that

1296. we should get rid of our debt, right.

1297. That uh, the one who's in debt is

1298. in slavery to the lender for sure.

1299. And as a church, we've been attacking

1300. this and attacking this, and

  1301. it's really in a position where.

  1302. We're gonna really, it's time.

  1303. Take care of it.

1304. We have, God has been so faithful

1305. in the midst of that because

1306. we've been faithful to him.

  1307. He's been faithful.

  1308. Amen.

1309. Now here's, so tell us

  1310. your sneaky plan, dad.

  1311. Yeah.

  1312. Here's, here's my sneaky plan.

  1313. Okay.

1314. If you've ever been part of any church,

1315. anywhere other than here, you know,

  1316. they'll have pledge cards and they'll

1317. do all these things and whatnot.

  1318. Okay.

  1319. That's not our style.

1320. Pam, bring my bucket up here.

  1321. Would you

1322. had to get up here, here, up here.

1323. Somehow she makes me look so much better.

  1324. Okay.

1325. Some of you, very few of you.

1326. But some of you will

  1327. remember the offering bucket.

1328. For a long time our treasurer

1329. used to work at Red Gold.

1330. And when he came, he said, man,

1331. you want, you want a, we got

1332. a deal on an offering bucket.

1333. This has been around for

  1334. almost 25 years, guys.

  1335. Okay.

1336. And every Sunday, that offering bucket

1337. just sat in the back of the church.

1338. We never took up an offering.

  1339. What?

1340. We never took up an offering.

1341. We just set the bucket back there

1342. and whatever came in, came in.

1343. And we were able to operate

1344. for a number of years.

1345. And so, as you can tell, we're not

1346. into, uh, running a campaign to do

1347. anything, but we have roughly 100

1348. families that attend the church.

1349. And being the mathematician who still

1350. stands in the back every Sunday and.

  1351. It takes attendance, not

  1352. attendance, but counts.

1353. How many people are here?

1354. Uh, some things you can't

1355. get rid of after 50 years.

1356. And I said, you know what?

1357. If we just put out the option to

1358. people to say, over the next year,

1359. I am going to trust God to bring

1360. 1% of that amount in, and at the

1361. end of one year, we would do that.

1362. Now, for some people, that

1363. would be an absolute miracle

1364. for that much money come in.

  1365. We're not talking about

  1366. taking outta your budget.

1367. I want you to pray and say,

1368. God, if you want me to do this,

1369. you bring it from somewhere.

1370. You know, if you wait a table, somebody

1371. gives you a $50 tip and you say, huh.

  1372. Oh, hey, thank you.

1373. Thank you for reminding me of that.

1374. Some job that you're totally

1375. unexpecting that comes outta nowhere,

1376. but so that you know, I know it's

1377. just easier for some of you to just

1378. write a check, say, there you go.

  1379. And that's fine.

  1380. Yes.

  1381. So you said, um,

  1382. I can't hear you.

  1383. Come on up here.

1384. You said 1% for, what does that

1385. break down to for $1,675 and 81

1386. cents over the course of a year.

1387. If you're doing it on a budget,

  1388. that's $134 every month.

1389. But I am not asking you to sign a pledge.

1390. I'm not asking you to,

  1391. between you and God.

1392. If you wanna do that, say

1393. God, would you do that?

1394. Some of you will be happy to take care

  1395. of 2, 3, 4, 5%, whatever it is, just.

1396. So that it helps meet

  1397. what everybody else does.

1398. But I want to see at the end of the year

1399. that all of us are still invested in that.

1400. Nobody's gonna come and say,

1401. well Andy, how you coming?

1402. You putting your 1% you get, it has not.

1403. That's between you and God,

  1404. whatever comes along there.

1405. Just kinda like the reason we dug

1406. out the old bucket is because we're

1407. gonna make life hard for Abby.

  1408. Okay?

1409. There's an offering basket back

1410. there to put your offering in.

1411. This is totally separate from any of that.

1412. This isn't tithe, this is God

  1413. moving, working, doing something.

1414. So you can watch him do it

1415. and every Sunday this will

1416. be back there in the back.

1417. If you have something goes there,

1418. just stick it in the bucket.

  1419. We'll keep the lid.

1420. We'll keep the lid off so you can

1421. actually put something in it and

1422. man, let's see where God takes that.

  1423. It'll, it'll, it'll be fun.

1424. And that's the thing, guys, just so

1425. you can appreciate this, this is a man

1426. that I spent a lot of my life with and.

1427. The idea that this would be fun was

1428. definitely something we lived out.

1429. And sometimes it meant going

1430. to Holyoke and sometimes it

1431. meant doing the craziest things.

  1432. 'cause we thought that's

1433. what God wanted us to do.

1434. When we teach on tithing.

1435. And when you read the scripture about

1436. tithing, and one of the reasons I feel a

  1437. little convicted sometimes I don't talk

1438. more about giving and finances is because

1439. when we're not faithful and when we don't

1440. step out in faith and trust God to do

1441. some crazy stuff, we kind of miss out on

1442. some of the cool, crazy stuff God does.

1443. And I don't wanna rob you guys of

1444. that and I don't mean to do that.

1445. Um, my dad gets excited about ridiculous

1446. things like, Hey, everybody could

1447. give 1% and bring this money in and

1448. see you gotta do something crazy.

  1449. It's gonna be awesome.

  1450. They're gonna don't.

  1451. Amen.

1452. You need to let the church know.

1453. I'm like, ah, you need to let the

1454. church know Dad, this is a Marty Jam.

1455. Uh, but truthfully, this is an

1456. invitation to be part of something

1457. cool that we think God's at work doing.

  1458. That's what this is.

1459. This isn't some kind of guilt trip.

1460. This isn't some kind of like,

1461. man, sign up and get your 1%.

  1462. Not at all.

1463. In fact, I'll probably be like, wait,

1464. don't miss the ties and offerings.

1465. 'cause that helps us operate every month.

  1466. Right?

  1467. Like that's important.

1468. Um, this is an invitation to help watch

1469. this thing disappear and watch God own

1470. outright all of the property, all of the

1471. facilities, everything that we have, and

1472. be able to have everything that comes

1473. in through ties and offerings to go to

1474. operational ministry and rock and roll

1475. with that and be done with that stuff.

  1476. Yes ma'am.

1477. Once, once this is done.

  1478. Mm-hmm.

  1479. You retire.

  1480. What is it?

  1481. Release then?

1482. What do we usually spend every month?

1483. What frees up like 50 some thousand

  1484. dollars, $54,000 a year That won't

1485. be going to interest and, and debt.

  1486. That's significant.

  1487. Yeah.

  1488. Yeah.

  1489. Um, the treasure said,

  1490. don't gively to this.

1491. Use the bucket, figure it out.

  1492. Separate with one of.

  1493. What?

1494. So if you, if you do your tithe,

1495. the treasurer said tithe is not

1496. the place to put this right now.

  1497. Tithing is the bucket.

  1498. Okay.

1499. Or that, that is the I got you basket.

  1500. I got you.

  1501. I got you.

  1502. Uh, the app.

  1503. Don't use the app.

  1504. Oh, just the bucket.

1505. This is just money in the old bucket.

  1506. All right.

  1507. Hey.

  1508. Yeah.

  1509. I don't know how to tithe

1510. on the, on the internet.

1511. You write a check, you put

1512. it in the basket back there.

  1513. Good night, Pam.

  1514. Come get this.

  1515. It's confusing.

  1516. Hunter.

1517. You can just carry out, you know

1518. what, you should take it back to mom.

1519. Why don't you just take it back to mom?

  1520. That'll be Oh.

  1521. 'cause I'm not done.

  1522. Oh, you're not done.

  1523. I'm not done.

  1524. All right.

1525. You can't push me outta the way like that.

  1526. I, I'm just hugging you.

  1527. Just hugging you.

  1528. Yeah, I know you're

1529. trying to get me outta me.

  1530. Okay.

  1531. Yeah.

  1532. Lemme see this.

  1533. Please.

1534. No, I, no, you take care.

  1535. I'll give it back.

  1536. I promise.

  1537. I just, I just gotta say, I don't

1538. know if anybody else is feeling it.

1539. You know, I've been here for nine years.

  1540. And I couldn't be more excited

1541. about what this church has done in

1542. my life, in my eternity of my kids.

  1543. The conversations I've had, and I'm

1544. not trying to glorify myself or them.

1545. It's what God's done through them and

1546. to me, into my kids, into my wife,

1547. and to my father, into my mother,

1548. into their spouses, and to friends

1549. that are been my friends for decades.

  1550. I'm talking what God

1551. has done in this place.

  1552. I couldn't be more excited

1553. about pouring into this place.

1554. So Whoopty do about giving some money.

1555. This place, the way they

1556. love, they love real well.

  1557. And so this matters.

1558. This is huge and I'm excited for it too.

1559. So there's no apology or like, this

1560. is awkward, we're asking for money.

  1561. Couldn't be more excited

  1562. to give 16 75, 81.

  1563. Alright, sounds good brother.

1564. Okay, the last thing I want to say here,

1565. did you, no, he didn't turn it off.

1566. Debbie turned it off That, no.

  1567. Okay.

1568. The last thing I want to say is, you

1569. know, we showed you where we were at and.

  1570. And Andy kept coming

1571. back to the horse trough.

1572. You know, our $14,000 baptismal.

  1573. Super nice.

  1574. Which 20 years ago, that's

  1575. what it would've cost.

  1576. Put in a baptismal is $14,000.

1577. We have a red gold bucket

1578. and we have a horse trough.

  1579. We baptized people in.

1580. You know what I'm saying?

1581. We're sitting around money somewhere else.

  1582. Speed.

  1583. Yeah, that's right.

  1584. Okay.

1585. The money that comes into our

1586. church is invested right here.

  1587. That's the whole thing.

  1588. The church is people.

1589. When Jesus comes back, you're

1590. sitting in a pile of ash right here.

1591. None of this building is going to heaven.

  1592. Amen.

1593. Only the people that are in it.

  1594. So yep.

1595. Now I'll take the bucket and go

1596. back and sit with your mother.

  1597. Alright.

  1598. Thank you very much.

  1599. All right.

1600. Well, he is the God of all hope.

1601. And this morning, thank you on this

1602. holiday weekend for your patience

1603. and sitting around the Thanksgiving

1604. table and listening to a few stories.

1605. Uh, but God, it's his story, you know,

1606. and our journey with him has been

1607. crazy and wild and fun and exciting.

1608. Uh, but I'd probably been bored

1609. outta my mind if he just did some

1610. boring church vibe with us, man.

  1611. God is good.

1612. And, uh, I'm thankful on this holiday

1613. weekend for you guys being a part of our

1614. church family, thankful what God's doing.

1615. And, and listen, this isn't

  1616. like a closing chapter.

1617. This is just rearranging all this

1618. stuff, getting it settled so we

1619. can take the next crazy adventure

1620. to hang a left of the god's.

1621. God coming next, which I

1622. don't want to talk about.

  1623. Let's pray.

1624. Father, thank you so much

1625. for your amazing love for us.

1626. Thank you that you are the

  1627. God of amazing expectation.

  1628. Confident expectation.

1629. You have been at work, you continue

1630. to be at work, you're faithful.

  1631. Even when we're faithless.

1632. You remain faithful 'cause of who you are.

1633. You've been leading all along the way.

1634. You're at work in our lives

1635. and we're so grateful for that.

1636. Thank you for the privilege of just

1637. being on this adventure with you.

1638. And God, I pray over this calendar year

1639. ahead that in looking at this desire,

1640. Lord, to totally eliminate all of the

1641. debt that we have as a church, that

1642. God, you would just do some super cool

1643. things to just show off who you are.

1644. Lord, don't let us be people who just

1645. in our own strength try to do things,

1646. but Lord that we would pray and that we

1647. would ask and that we would be obedient.

1648. To respond when you move.

1649. And so Father, I pray that for each of us,

1650. for all of the families that are part of

1651. our congregation and our church family,

1652. Lord, that, that you would bring in the

1653. resources that we need to knock this thing

1654. out to honor you in faithfulness here.

1655. And Lord, just remind us who you

1656. are in the midst of it, I pray.

1657. Thank you so much for the time together

1658. today, and thank you for the next

1659. chapter that you're writing in our story.

  1660. We're excited for what you're

1661. doing and just thank you.

  1662. In Jesus name.

  1663. Amen.

  1664. Amen.
