  1. whew.

  2. It's gonna be a loud splash

  3. section over here today.

  4. Huh?

  5. I love that.

  6. Love that.

  7. You know, I don't know if you guys have

  8. been enjoying the Christmas season, like

  9. new parents, or parents of little kids.

  10. Like I'm in this stage where I have

  11. high schoolers now and college students.

  12. Which means Jamie and I get up Christmas

  13. morning and we drink coffee and we cook

  14. and we stare at each other, wondering

  15. if our kids care that it's Christmas.

  16. And Jed comes down about 10

  17. 30 and he's mad that he didn't

  18. sleep till noon on Christmas.

  19. You know?

  20. And you're like, these are the glory days.

  21. Parents.

  22. Wait, just wait.

  23. Right?

  24. Those 3:00 AM mornings, right?

  25. No, no more, no more.

  26. Dax, you still look tired, bro.

  27. Makes me happy.

  28. Well, Jocelyn, thanks for

  29. referencing these candles.

  30. We've talked over this Christmas

  31. season about the idea of hope, right?

  32. That God gives us this crazy awesome

  33. hope through Jesus, and that he is the

  34. prince of peace who came to make peace

  35. between us and God with the wrath of sin

  36. that hung over us, his crazy love for us.

  37. And last Sunday, the kids really helped

  38. us, uh, get into the Christmas spirit with

  39. what can only be described as a joyful

  40. presentation of screeching microphones.

  41. Also with some songs and a

  42. little bit of Jesus mixed in.

  43. It was beautiful and everybody

  44. worked really hard on that.

  45. So thanks for being a part of last

  46. Sunday's celebration together.

  47. It was really special.

  48. Um, and you know, kids, kids

  49. are just a big deal, man.

  50. Jesus loves kids.

  51. I, one of my favorite passages is where.

  52. The disciples, you know, they're sitting

  53. around while Jesus is talking to, you

  54. know, the important people, the adults

  55. and some kids are trying to get close

  56. and they're kind of sneaking in and,

  57. and you know, kids probably interrupted.

  58. They're probably jibber jabbering.

  59. They're probably pushing their

  60. friend to see and what Jesus was

  61. doing, and, and the disciples are

  62. like, Hey, leave the teacher alone.

  63. Don't bother Jesus.

  64. And Jesus scripture says,

  65. rebuked his disciples.

  66. That's a cool word, right?

  67. He didn't say, come on guys, quit

  68. acting like knuckleheaded adults.

  69. He's like, knock it off.

  70. What is wrong with you guys?

  71. Right?

  72. These kids, man, let 'em, let

  73. 'em get 'em over here, man.

  74. Unless we become like little

  75. children, we're not gonna

  76. enter the kingdom of heaven.

  77. That's what he taught us, right?

  78. Like faith, like a child, and

  79. the innocence of a child and the

  80. image of kids and what that means

  81. for us as followers of Jesus and.

  82. We call God our Heavenly Father

  83. because we're his children.

  84. And what a cool picture that is for us.

  85. So kids matter to Jesus.

  86. And if you ever become one of those

  87. old church people who get angry

  88. about the kids, I just want you to

  89. know, uh, I have a spot for you in

  90. Sunday's school to come volunteer

  91. where we can work that out of you.

  92. Right?

  93. Because there is nothing cooler

  94. than getting to hang out with

  95. kids and talk about Jesus.

  96. Well, I have a verse I wanna share with

  97. you this morning as I reflect on kids

  98. a little bit, and it's this, speaking

  99. of joy, man, I have no greater joy.

  100. John says, then to hear that my

  101. children are walking in the truth.

  102. And I was reflecting on this a

  103. little bit as we were gonna have

  104. a time of baby dedication today.

  105. I was reflecting a little bit on

  106. like Jamie and I and our parenting

  107. mission and purpose years ago.

  108. We talked vision and purpose and why are.

  109. Doing what we're doing and, and what

  110. is our mission and, and our vision and

  111. our purpose, you know, as parents and

  112. really latched on to this idea that

  113. my children are walking in the truth.

  114. And I've said this to my kids a

  115. million times, man, I don't care

  116. what they do with their life.

  117. I don't care.

  118. Sorry, I got choked up.

  119. I haven't been singing a lot, but

  120. the last, like Christmas Eve today,

  121. I was like, I'm gonna belt this

  122. out and now I can't hardly talk.

  123. So sorry about that.

  124. I'm sorry.

  125. I'm sorry.

  126. I don't.

  127. Um, but I don't care if my

  128. kids are good at sports.

  129. I don't care if they're

  130. brilliant academically.

  131. I don't care if they're

  132. making lots of money.

  133. I just don't care about any of that stuff.

  134. I care about that they're walking

  135. in the truth, that they're walking

  136. in relationship with Jesus Christ.

  137. If my kids will have a relationship with

  138. Jesus Christ and they will follow him.

  139. So much better than any advice dad's got.

  140. Trust me, right?

  141. Following Jesus.

  142. That is all I want for my kids.

  143. That they will be faithful followers

  144. of Jesus Christ, who walk in the truth.

  145. 'cause here's the cool part, right?

  146. Seek first the kingdom of God and his

  147. righteousness and all the other stuff.

  148. He'll take care of that, right?

  149. But you chase all the other stuff

  150. instead, man, we're chasing sports.

  151. We're chasing money, we're chasing

  152. fame, we're chasing all kinds of stuff,

  153. and we end up empty in the end and

  154. stuff just falls through our fingers.

  155. But man, if we are locked into chasing

  156. Jesus Christ with everything we got,

  157. and as parents, if we raise our kids

  158. to follow Jesus and to make this the

  159. priority of what we're about, man, it

  160. changes all eternity for my kids and for

  161. everybody that they come in contact with.

  162. For your kids, man, that's the deal.

  163. This season we look at the manger

  164. and we think about Christmas.

  165. We're in that weird Sunday

  166. kind of in between, right?

  167. But it's still okay to remember

  168. these two people, Mary and Joseph.

  169. Right.

  170. And I, I think it's fascinating 'cause

  171. there's the, the big is this, the

  172. word hubba hubba Baloo hu hullabaloo.

  173. Oh man, that's a ridiculous word.

  174. There's a whole lot going

  175. on at the manger, right?

  176. We got angels and shepherds

  177. and we got all kinds of stuff

  178. happening and it's all amazing.

  179. And then all of a sudden the lights

  180. go out and Mary and Joseph are

  181. tasked with raising the son of God.

  182. I will never forget the birth

  183. of Josiah, our first kid.

  184. And, uh, I remember we had a cool

  185. relationship with our nurse, right?

  186. Like, she was really cool.

  187. She was great.

  188. She was like our, our little

  189. guardian angel, you know, for those

  190. 48, 72 hours, whatever it was.

  191. But I will never forget the moment.

  192. Do you remember this, Jamie?

  193. When I pulled the car up and they

  194. wheeled you out in that little

  195. chair and you had this baby and they

  196. were like, they were gonna send us.

  197. Two idiot kids home with

  198. this living baby, right?

  199. And I remember like, Hey, any chance,

  200. like you want to come with us?

  201. We got room in the car, we invited

  202. the nurse home, like we gave her

  203. our address and our phone number.

  204. And we're like, when you're off work, if

  205. you wanna stop by, we'd love to see you.

  206. Right?

  207. Like, that was terror, right?

  208. Like, and if you've been a new

  209. parent, you understand that.

  210. You're like, no, no way.

  211. I break things all the time.

  212. I can't hardly get my

  213. lawn mowed gently, right?

  214. Like, how am I gonna keep this kid alive?

  215. Like it's crazy.

  216. But I can never just get my mind around

  217. this reality for Mion Joseph, that when

  218. their lights faded and the shepherds

  219. left and everything chilled, to sit

  220. there and realize, whoa, we've been

  221. tasked with raising the son of God.

  222. But listen, parents, I want you to

  223. catch this 'cause this is important.

  224. You and I, while not being tasked with

  225. raising Jesus Christ, the son of God,

  226. you and I have absolutely been tasked.

  227. With raising sons and daughters of God.

  228. That's what scripture teaches us, right?

  229. John says to us, see what great love

  230. The fathers lavished on us that we

  231. should be called children of God.

  232. And that is what we are.

  233. Now, people can choose to live as children

  234. of the devil for sure, but God came

  235. that everyone would have opportunity

  236. to know him, to walk in relationship

  237. with him, to be his son or daughter.

  238. And I think sometimes parents, we forget

  239. that we've been tasked by God with

  240. the responsibility to raise not our

  241. kids, but his sons and his daughters.

  242. And a lot of parents make a big mistake

  243. of saying, I'm trying to raise good kids.

  244. It's a horrible mission statement, guys.

  245. We wanna raise good young adults

  246. and contributors to society who

  247. will follow Christ and be disciples

  248. of his raising good kids stops.

  249. Right, but raising people, men

  250. and women who will follow Jesus,

  251. that's a vision and that's a

  252. picture of what we're called to do.

  253. And you and I have been entrusted

  254. with that and that is terrifying.

  255. But we're entrusted so that our children

  256. might walk in the truth, know their

  257. heavenly father and walk with him.

  258. Well, today we are gonna

  259. do something special.

  260. We're gonna have a time of baby dedication

  261. kind of mixed into some things I'm

  262. sharing, and I'm gonna start with this.

  263. I got some stools back there guys.

  264. You gonna bring those up?

  265. I'm gonna invite Andrew

  266. and Gray to sneak up here.

  267. If you wanna bring the kids now you can.

  268. But I guess we're never

  269. settled that exactly.

  270. I dunno if you guys know this about

  271. my friend Andrew, but sometimes if

  272. you give Andrew a microphone, there's

  273. just a lot in his heart, right?

  274. And I love that about Andrew.

  275. So we're gonna share just

  276. a little bit together.

  277. Thanks guys.

  278. Bad choice on my part.

  279. So

  280. Andrew, why does Gray look like she's

  281. hearing about this for the first time?

  282. My friend?

  283. Okay.

  284. Okay.

  285. Just making sure.

  286. Just making sure.

  287. It's another one of those red lights.

  288. Tim, I don't know, how are you Gray?

  289. I'm sorry, gray.

  290. This was just for what we're about to do.

  291. Sanders's fault for.

  292. I just wanna excuse

  293. that buddy just in case.

  294. Yeah, not yet.

  295. Not yet.

  296. Oh.

  297. Well you guys have been a

  298. part of some of this exciting

  299. journey with Andrew and Gray.

  300. Um, been through some fun, not so fun.

  301. All kinds of moments in between,

  302. um, but as we talked about today,

  303. but, and this just, we don't usually

  304. do this, this is like a two for

  305. one deal today, just so we know.

  306. We've got some twins that

  307. we're gonna dedicate.

  308. Normally it's just, you know,

  309. one per customer, but we work

  310. something out special today.

  311. Um, so Andrew, I know you want

  312. a chance to share just a little

  313. bit about what God's done and.

  314. And, uh, all that good stuff, man.

  315. So I think what I'm gonna do is just

  316. say, what do you wanna say this morning?

  317. And then we'll see where we go.

  318. How about that?

  319. Well, yesterday Andy called

  320. me and he said, uh, Hey buddy.

  321. Uh, how talkative do you feel tomorrow?

  322. I said, well, uh, you know how it is.

  323. Hand me the mic and I'll roll.

  324. And, uh, it's funny.

  325. Last year at the, uh, marriage retreat,

  326. everybody wrote, you know, nice things

  327. about people, uh, on photos of each

  328. couple and me and Grace's photo,

  329. there was about three different people

  330. that put great speaker talks a lot.

  331. So, um, we love that about you, man.

  332. We do, we do today, uh, today

  333. I've been counting down the days.

  334. For this day, uh, since the babies

  335. were were born, um, me and my wife, we

  336. started coming here a little over three

  337. years ago, and you guys embraced us.

  338. You, we became, you know, family here.

  339. We consider this church our home.

  340. Um, we, you know, the first two

  341. years of our marriage was exciting.

  342. A lot of traveling, um, a

  343. lot of fun things we did.

  344. Um, just enjoying being married

  345. and, and, and loving life.

  346. Um, but there was one thing missing.

  347. Uh, we really wanted a family.

  348. Um,

  349. she said we still need to

  350. continue to travel too.

  351. Um,

  352. we really wanted a family though.

  353. Um, and around the time when we

  354. started coming here was when we were

  355. really, really trying to have children.

  356. Um, and it just, things

  357. were just not happening.

  358. And I shared a lot.

  359. The first time I think I shared was

  360. at that very first men's retreat I

  361. went to, uh, with the church here.

  362. Um, and I shared about some of the

  363. fertility struggles that we were having.

  364. Um, and everyone prayed over me and, and,

  365. you know, uh, gave us hope and support,

  366. um, in that, from that point on, I mean,

  367. it was a two and a half year journey.

  368. Um, until we actually had the babies.

  369. Um, so, and it was, and

  370. it was an easy journey.

  371. It was not an easy journey at all.

  372. Oh, it was.

  373. Um, but I wanna share our story because

  374. I think it's a story of hope and faith,

  375. of, and just, you know, not giving

  376. up, uh, on your dreams, especially,

  377. you know, when it's your family.

  378. Um, um, I will get emotional quite

  379. a bit up here, so just bear with me.

  380. Um, so back in

  381. December of 2023, uh, we started

  382. the fertility treatment process

  383. and in March of 2024, we did

  384. our first IVF, uh, treatment.

  385. It worked.

  386. Um, we went to Panama to do that just

  387. because of the, she had a connection

  388. with the doctor there through her family.

  389. Um, and it, it was a good situation.

  390. We were able to financially save

  391. quite a bit of money since here

  392. in the US IVF is and I'll be nice.

  393. It's very crazy to, and expensive, and

  394. to me it seems kind of like a scam, but,

  395. uh, IVF is a beautiful thing for parents

  396. that are struggling with fertility.

  397. So it did, it worked.

  398. And, um, you know, we were very

  399. excited, uh, felt so blessed.

  400. And then in June of, uh, of that year.

  401. We were on a short little vacation

  402. in Tennessee, and, um, we got a call

  403. that my mom was in the hospital,

  404. um, and she was in the ICU.

  405. And so we rushed back for my mom.

  406. And that was kind of a god thing

  407. because when we got back to

  408. Indianapolis, gray had a miscarriage.

  409. Um, and all the medications, all the

  410. preparation, all the travel, all the

  411. money, just everything we had sacrificed.

  412. Um, we k we kind of felt

  413. like it was all gone.

  414. You know, we, we were at

  415. a point of desperation.

  416. Um, we did a lot of praying and we

  417. had an unbelievable amount of support.

  418. From people in this church.

  419. Um, a lot of people specifically that

  420. were mentors to me, um, and gray, um,

  421. just so much support and throughout

  422. that whole process, you know, we

  423. shared with everybody along the way.

  424. Uh, I did a lot of standing up

  425. and sharing about, you know, how

  426. things were going with us and, and

  427. you know, how we were progressing

  428. through the fertility treatments.

  429. Um, and with her immigration status

  430. being what it was, and it was her

  431. green card was coming up for renewal.

  432. We had to make a quick decision.

  433. Um, and we had to pretty much turn

  434. right around and do the IVF again.

  435. Um, and it is a.

  436. Long, arduous process.

  437. A lot of shots, a lot of

  438. pills, months of preparation.

  439. Um, we get there and, uh,

  440. we go through the IVF.

  441. There were some, some struggles

  442. when we initially got there,

  443. uh, to have the procedure.

  444. Uh, we thought that it

  445. wasn't gonna be possible.

  446. Um, and God found a way.

  447. God found a way.

  448. And a couple weeks later

  449. we find out we're pregnant.

  450. In fact, before we found out we were

  451. pregnant, I spoke with Preor on the phone.

  452. This was like literally two days

  453. after they had had, did, did the,

  454. uh, IVF Preor said, you know, God's

  455. telling me it's gonna be twins.

  456. And I said.

  457. I laughed and, and he said, what?

  458. You don't believe me?

  459. And I said, no, I believe you.

  460. I believe you.

  461. Uh, but you know, he, he,

  462. he, he felt that, and he said

  463. that, and, and he was right.

  464. Um, it, it is just so hard to

  465. believe that those two beautiful

  466. angels, uh, are with us today.

  467. Um,

  468. I've been looking forward to this

  469. day dedicating them to the Lord, um,

  470. so that they can be raised and in a

  471. way that I was raised by my parents.

  472. You know, I, I always as

  473. a child, never felt alone.

  474. 'cause I always felt

  475. like Jesus was with me.

  476. And that's because my

  477. parents raised me that way.

  478. And I want to raise, and she wants

  479. to raise our children that way.

  480. Um.

  481. But we, we really struggled.

  482. We really struggled, uh, in the

  483. last two years have been ups and

  484. downs like nobody can imagine.

  485. Um, and not just with the fertility

  486. thing, you know, there were, there

  487. were some, not consequences, but

  488. we had to sacrifice a lot mm-hmm.

  489. To, to have these two beautiful babies.

  490. And, and I just wanna say Andrew, as

  491. getting to be kind of an observer in

  492. that rollercoaster ride, I wasn't on

  493. the rollercoaster with you, thankfully.

  494. It was fun to watch you guys, but

  495. the reality of that was your faith.

  496. I mean, I, I just wanna say publicly,

  497. like so many conversations about

  498. faith in those two years, um.

  499. And watching you guys keep trusting the

  500. Lord and keep trying to hold onto him,

  501. even when it looked the bleakest and it

  502. looked the hardest, or looked the darkest.

  503. And, uh, that's a beautiful picture

  504. of, I mean, it makes the dawn and

  505. the, the light so much brighter having

  506. walked through that darkness and not

  507. giving up and not quit and not throwing

  508. up your hands and said, I'm done.

  509. You know?

  510. Uh, and I just wanna affirm that in both

  511. of you guys, you guys walked in faith and,

  512. and, and maybe just to speak to this a

  513. second, um, yeah, I didn't say something I

  514. didn't say about our little fun adventure.

  515. Like, I thought we'd have like

  516. tons of kids, you know, like raise

  517. a bunch, like that whole full

  518. quiver of arrows kind of vibe.

  519. Right.

  520. You know, and we had Josiah and we're

  521. off and running and then, you know, Jamie

  522. almost died in a few different crazy

  523. things with some miscarriages we had

  524. and then live or not live, uh, having

  525. to do an emergency C-section and get the

  526. whole little baby cheer, you know, who's.

  527. Like my, what, 18-year-old daughter in

  528. heaven right now, hanging out, right?

  529. Like imagine Josh, 18-year-old,

  530. my daughter, your youth group.

  531. Whoa.

  532. But I mean, God's goodness

  533. and his faithfulness.

  534. And then, and then the Lord gave us Jed,

  535. who made up for the whole quiver, right?

  536. We just shove him in

  537. that whole thing, right?

  538. And, uh, all good, but, but

  539. we don't control everything.

  540. We don't, we don't always, things don't

  541. always play out like we anticipate.

  542. Um, and yet when you're able to

  543. just trust the Lord, seek first his

  544. kingdom, his righteousness, right?

  545. And just do your best to be faithful, like

  546. what he does is so much more beautiful

  547. than what you could ever create of your

  548. own controlling or your own manipulating

  549. of circumstances and situations.

  550. You know, uh, your two cute little squirts

  551. that, uh, are a ton of fun and we're gonna

  552. get to dedicate here in a few minutes.

  553. Like, what a beautiful gift from the Lord.

  554. And had you played it all out

  555. different ways or try to manipulate

  556. a million different things, who

  557. knows where it really ends up.

  558. God's God is good in what he's

  559. accomplishing as we trust in Him.

  560. Everything we went through

  561. was for a purpose, a reason.

  562. You, I'm sure everybody's

  563. heard this saying, you know,

  564. you wanna make God laugh.

  565. Tell him your plans.

  566. I I

  567. None of this was our plans.

  568. Yeah.

  569. And I think, I don't think, I know it

  570. was God preparing us for our future.

  571. Um, God allowed us to go

  572. through those struggles.

  573. God allowed us to, you know, feel

  574. that the pain that we felt, um,

  575. because he was building us up for

  576. something big, bigger, and better.

  577. Um, and, you know, we remained

  578. hopeful all the way up, you know, uh.

  579. Until her water broke.

  580. Really.

  581. I mean, even after that, we were still

  582. believing, you know, God has this, because

  583. when Gray at the house, when Gray's

  584. water broke, it actually went water.

  585. It was a lot of blood.

  586. Um, I'm not trying to get graphic, but

  587. she lost a ton of blood in our house.

  588. We had to call the ambulance.

  589. The ambulance came.

  590. I couldn't ride with her.

  591. I had to jump in the car and drive.

  592. Um, she, the babies were not moving

  593. and her belly, um, it was a very

  594. traumatic, traumatic, uh, delivery.

  595. Um, and I just remember driving

  596. to the hospital, flying, probably

  597. going 110 miles an hour trying to

  598. catch up with the ambulance even.

  599. And I still couldn't.

  600. But that whole time I was just praying,

  601. Lord, Lord, please, please, please,

  602. you know, lay your hands on, on gray.

  603. And the babies and the doctors.

  604. And when I walked in that hospital room,

  605. I didn't know what to expect.

  606. And I turned that corner and I

  607. could hear the machines beeping

  608. and I could hear their heart rates,

  609. could hear their hearts beeping.

  610. I thought that they could be dead.

  611. Um, I thought something

  612. could be wrong with gray.

  613. But they were all healthy.

  614. She was laying there smiling.

  615. The nurses were so, so, uh, just

  616. they, the care they gave us.

  617. I mean, everything that we went

  618. through and, and I know, I know.

  619. Giving birth and having kids.

  620. Everybody has their own, you know, story.

  621. And, but what I want to share with you

  622. guys, I guess the main thing is that, you

  623. know, keep hope, um, keep hope, um, and

  624. keep your faith, you know, 'cause you may

  625. be struggling now, but it's temporary.

  626. Mm-hmm.

  627. It's not long term.

  628. Uh, you know, if you stay strong,

  629. keep your faith, God will reward you.

  630. Um, I do not feel personally

  631. like I deserve these babies.

  632. I was a bad kid.

  633. Let's just be real.

  634. I was a bad kid.

  635. I made a lot of bad decisions

  636. and I felt like that was God.

  637. I, I felt like I was being punished.

  638. Um.

  639. I felt like I was being punished for

  640. some of the things that I had done

  641. for some of the decisions I had made.

  642. Uh, you know, times in my life

  643. when I wasn't, you know, as strong

  644. in my relationship with God and

  645. I felt like I was being punished

  646. and that wasn't the case at all.

  647. God was just setting us

  648. up for a better situation.

  649. And now we have this beautiful

  650. family that I'm so grateful

  651. for and my birthday's tomorrow.

  652. Christmas was several days ago, but

  653. today, this is the real gift for me and

  654. my wife of this season, is to be able to

  655. dedicate our two beautiful babies to God

  656. into this life of living, you know, by

  657. God's rules and, and, and living on faith.

  658. Um, and we will not lose hope.

  659. Yeah.

  660. We will continue to be hopeful

  661. because the struggles do not end.

  662. Um, in fact, with with twins, it

  663. doesn't get easier with twins.

  664. In fact, they multiply.

  665. So, um, you know, we still have

  666. our, our, our, our struggles.

  667. But these babies, they just, they,

  668. they've, they've changed our life

  669. and, and I can't express and she

  670. cannot express how grateful and

  671. thankful we are for this church.

  672. All the prayers, all the

  673. gifts, all the cards,

  674. all the love and support, not only

  675. from the church, from my family,

  676. from my friends, um, her whole

  677. family that's watching on YouTube

  678. right now, all over the world.

  679. Um.

  680. And my grandmothers and uncles and

  681. aunts that are watching in other states,

  682. you know, it, it means so much to us

  683. that we have the support we have mm-hmm.

  684. From our family and the church and

  685. our own family and friends at home.

  686. Um, this place is special.

  687. This place is special.

  688. And uh, I feel like this church had a

  689. lot to do with where we are right now.

  690. And I'm just so grateful.

  691. Um, yeah.

  692. It's an honor to walk this journey

  693. with you guys and come to this

  694. day where we get to dedicate

  695. your kids to the Lord with you.

  696. That's a, that's a special thing

  697. for us as your church family.

  698. 'cause we've been on this three

  699. year journey with you too, you know,

  700. watching and praying and hoping

  701. and, and, uh, it's a special thing

  702. to, to celebrate with you guys what

  703. God has done in the gift of kids.

  704. So I think we better just do this thing,

  705. but unless Gray, you wanna say something?

  706. Yeah.

  707. No, eh, I know my mom watching online

  708. night we talking about the hope.

  709. Keep hope we No,

  710. that's beautiful.

  711. We were gonna use some translation,

  712. but thankfully there's ai

  713. Google Translate, right?

  714. So, uh, that's special stuff to all

  715. of Gray's family that's watching.

  716. It's been a fun journey to be a

  717. part of this with you guys and we

  718. love you guys and we're excited for

  719. you and your whole extended family.

  720. 'cause every time you get to visit, it's

  721. gonna be a party at your house, right?

  722. It's great stuff.

  723. Well, Jamie, if you'd

  724. come join me up here.

  725. We're going to, uh, move into this

  726. dedication ceremony and then I

  727. have a few kind of closing thoughts

  728. I wanna share with all of us.

  729. And if you wanna go grab your

  730. kids, they're kind of the

  731. main, main stars of this scene.

  732. So

  733. we will stand over here.

  734. That way you guys can, we'll trade

  735. you spots and that way everybody

  736. can, from your family can see,

  737. Hey Jamie, we got work to do.

  738. Interesting.

  739. Oh yeah.

  740. Whatever you need there.

  741. We got stools.

  742. Hey.

  743. There you go.

  744. There you go.

  745. All right, let's get everybody up.

  746. Centered a little bit here.

  747. Oh, that's kind of pretty, huh?

  748. That's a good look.

  749. We'll stay right there.

  750. Let's just move this stuff.

  751. And

  752. how are you guys?

  753. Yeah, pretty fun, huh?

  754. It's pretty fun.

  755. Big time.

  756. Yeah.

  757. All right.

  758. Sorry, I get distracted pretty easily too.

  759. Um, wow.

  760. What a special thing to get to

  761. do together and what a special

  762. season to get to do it in.

  763. And

  764. we got Charlotte and Clementine and they

  765. are, you guys do, you guys are like pros.

  766. Have you done this before?

  767. No.

  768. Yes.

  769. Okay.

  770. Okay, man.

  771. Alright, well let's move into this

  772. time of child dedication as we dedicate

  773. Charlotte and we dedicate Clementine

  774. to the Lord with their family.

  775. Yeah.

  776. As children, we're welcomed

  777. by Jesus, so they are welcome

  778. as part of this congregation.

  779. As a new member of a family in this body,

  780. they're an integral part of this church.

  781. They're recipients of its blessings

  782. and mission and experience.

  783. Its fellowship, and maybe unfortunately

  784. it's traditions as well as parents

  785. bring their little ones in.

  786. Presentation to the Lord.

  787. We covenant as a congregation to

  788. surround the children and their family

  789. with the support of the people of God.

  790. In this dedication today, parents publicly

  791. commit themselves to provide a home in

  792. which their children will grow up in the

  793. nurture and admonition of the Lord and

  794. where they will learn of Christ and his

  795. ways and be encouraged to receive him

  796. as their own personal Lord and Savior.

  797. Her parents are the child's primary

  798. pastor and greatest influence

  799. for good and righteousness.

  800. Proverbs 22, 6 says, train a child in

  801. the way she should go, and when she

  802. is old, she will not depart from it.

  803. Well, Andrew and Gray, God has

  804. been gracious to you in giving

  805. you these precious gifts.

  806. Yeah, that is really distracting, huh?

  807. That's a really good smile you got going.

  808. I like that.

  809. Do you now present your children

  810. before God in dedication to him?

  811. If so, answer.

  812. We do.

  813. We do.

  814. We do.

  815. Okay.

  816. Is it your purpose to bring up Clementine

  817. and Charlotte in the ways of the Lord?

  818. If so, answer It is.

  819. It is 100.

  820. Percent.

  821. Well that that's an add on.

  822. I like that.

  823. That's good.

  824. Will the two of you continue to

  825. love each other as the chi, as these

  826. children God has given you, so that

  827. they will experience the meaning of

  828. faith and hope and trust and grace

  829. and everything else Jesus offers?

  830. If so, answer, we will.

  831. We'll.

  832. We'll and will you endeavor to

  833. provide a Christian home and

  834. atmosphere for each of your children?

  835. Will you teach them in the Christian faith

  836. and way surrounding them with Christian

  837. influences through the church and other

  838. relationships and encourage them to their

  839. own individual faith in Jesus Christ?

  840. If so, answer With God's help, we will.

  841. With God's help, we will.

  842. Very good.

  843. Alright, and congregation, I'm gonna

  844. invite you symbolically to stand.

  845. As a covenant with Andrew and Gray, and

  846. our commitment to support and to love and

  847. to encourage on this amazing journey of

  848. faith with Charlotte and with Clementine.

  849. And you might as well, you know what?

  850. You could probably be seated if you want

  851. to now, otherwise you're not able to

  852. see all these little guys in the back.

  853. But we see all that.

  854. You see those guys all standing

  855. with you in affirmation.

  856. Alright, very good.

  857. You, you may be seated.

  858. And now let's, let's start.

  859. What do you think?

  860. Do you wanna go first, Charlotte?

  861. All right, Charlotte.

  862. Here we go, kiddo.

  863. All right, how are you?

  864. I got you on the wrong side

  865. with this microphone, huh?

  866. Yeah.

  867. Yeah.

  868. Actually I don't need that.

  869. We're just gonna pray and dedicate

  870. this little squirt to Jesus.

  871. This is really like one of my favorite

  872. things we get to do around here.

  873. You know what I mean?

  874. All the moms always hog the babies.

  875. Do you notice that all the, all

  876. the grandmas out there, they're

  877. like, oh, let me hold her.

  878. Let me, you know, but like I can make

  879. this last for a good half hour here.

  880. Sure.

  881. Alright, well Charlotte, this day

  882. we dedicate you to God that all

  883. the efforts of mom and dad and your

  884. church family will lead you to your

  885. own relationship with Jesus Christ.

  886. Let's pray.

  887. Lord Jesus, thank you

  888. so much for Charlotte.

  889. Thank you for her love that she brings

  890. into her home with her mom and dad.

  891. Thank you for the sister Lord, that

  892. she is gonna be in big, amazing ways.

  893. Thank you for her little heart, God.

  894. And we pray that you would guide and

  895. direct her all the days of her life, that

  896. you would protect her, that you would

  897. surround her with your spirit and with

  898. your love, and that you would draw her.

  899. Deeper and deeper into a amazing

  900. relationship with her love

  901. or loving Heavenly Father.

  902. This day.

  903. God, we dedicate her to you.

  904. In the name of the Father and

  905. the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  906. Amen.

  907. All right, I'll give you back to Mom.

  908. Oh, great job.

  909. Great.

  910. Great grip, huh?

  911. All right, I'm here, Clementine.

  912. How are you?

  913. Squirt.

  914. All right.

  915. How are ya?

  916. Yeah, those glasses look fun.

  917. Huh?

  918. Grab them.

  919. Not good.

  920. Precious little squirt.

  921. I'm tell you, we should

  922. get another one of these.

  923. You know what I mean?

  924. No.

  925. Okay, so not, definitely not.

  926. Alright.

  927. Give it a year, Annie.

  928. Okay?

  929. Yeah.

  930. Clementine.

  931. You're a precious little lady.

  932. Isn't that.

  933. Yeah, well, God has big plans for both

  934. of you girls and for your mom and dad,

  935. and it's a privilege for us to get to

  936. pray and dedicate you to Jesus today.

  937. So Clementine today, we dedicate

  938. you to God that all the efforts of

  939. mom and dad and your church family,

  940. and all the surrounding friends and

  941. family that are part of your life

  942. will help lead you in faith and into

  943. your own relationship with Jesus.

  944. 'cause He loves you so much.

  945. Lord Jesus.

  946. Thank you for this precious little girl.

  947. Thank you for the love that she brings.

  948. Thank you for the opportunity, Lord

  949. to be a part of her amazing family

  950. that you've built and put together.

  951. And God we pray over Clementine

  952. that you would guide and direct

  953. her all the days of her life.

  954. That you would blaze the trail before

  955. her, that you would watch over her

  956. coming and going, and every step,

  957. Lord, that you would lead her in

  958. paths of righteousness and draw her to

  959. you, protect her and watch over her.

  960. And God that you would be a

  961. constant present comfort and hope,

  962. and encouragement in her life.

  963. All the days on this earth that you

  964. give her to shine bright for you.

  965. Jesus, we dedicate her to you.

  966. In the name of the Father and

  967. the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  968. Amen.

  969. Amen.

  970. We should hang out more like this, huh?

  971. I don't think I wanna

  972. give you back to Dad.

  973. This is kind of fun.

  974. Okay.

  975. Yeah.

  976. I gotta see that.

  977. Look.

  978. Maybe it's time, dad.

  979. All right.

  980. Well, you guys can stand right here

  981. for one moment, and I want to just

  982. say a couple little closing thoughts.

  983. Baby dedication.

  984. This special ceremony, it is about

  985. dedicating our children to the Lord,

  986. but really at its heart, it's also about

  987. parents being dedicated to the task

  988. of raising God's sons and daughters.

  989. And scripture tells us in Deuteronomy

  990. six, six through seven, something really

  991. important and it's addressed to the

  992. leaders of the households dads, but it

  993. applies to moms and everybody in between.

  994. These commandments that I give you

  995. today are to be upon your heart.

  996. Impress them on your children.

  997. Impress them.

  998. That doesn't mean press them.

  999. It means draw them into a desire to know

1000. and to learn and to grow, share, and

1001. love, and encouragement, and hope these

1002. principles and commandments of the Lord.

1003. You're supposed to talk about

1004. 'em when you sit at home.

1005. I know most of us are busy on our

  1006. phones, or we're texting, or we're

1007. playing video games, or we're

1008. watching tv, but we're supposed to

1009. be talking about the commandments

1010. of the Lord when we're at our homes.

1011. Oh, and also when we walk along the

1012. road, when we're in transport, when

1013. we're going places, so home or not home.

1014. We're also supposed to, when we lie

1015. down and when we get up, talk with

1016. our children, impress upon them

1017. the, the direction, the wisdom,

1018. the instruction of the Lord.

1019. It's kind of clear, right?

1020. If you're at home or if you're not,

1021. if you're laying down or if you're

1022. not, there's really nothing left

1023. to like be the area where we just

  1024. avoid talking, avoid impressing,

  1025. avoid teaching and instructing.

1026. Train up a child in the way

1027. she should go, and when she's

1028. old, she won't depart from it.

1029. This is a challenge, Andrew and Gray

1030. that I wanna share with you, but church

1031. family, I want to share it with you as

1032. parents and I wanna share it with you

1033. as surrogate moms and dads and aunts and

1034. uncles and cousins, because the family

1035. of God is not designed to be isolated.

  1036. People watching a show, it's family,

1037. which means we're all part and we're all

1038. invested together so that our children

1039. can walk and the truth and know who

1040. Jesus is and experience all the amazing

1041. adventures that God has in store for them.

  1042. So amazing.

  1043. Yeah.

  1044. Amen.

  1045. Huh?

1046. You guys done no more talking for me.

  1047. I got it.

  1048. Well, let's pray and we'll

  1049. get y'all outta here.

1050. You guys have been very patient

1051. on this holiday, mid Christmas,

1052. new Year's morning, Lord Jesus.

  1053. Thank you.

  1054. For loving us.

1055. Thank you for inviting us to be sons and

1056. daughters in your kingdom adopting us

1057. and loving us, and drawing us to you.

1058. God, thank you for the gift

1059. of getting to be a parent.

1060. We live in a society that really

1061. knocks it and says it's a hindrance,

1062. but God, there is no greater gift.

  1063. Nothing more meaningful and

1064. purposeful than getting to experience

1065. being a dad or being a mom.

1066. In this world that you've created, you're

1067. a heavenly Father, the Heavenly Father,

1068. and you entrust parenting to us, tasked

1069. with raising your sons and daughters.

1070. God, I pray over Andrew and Gray that you

1071. would bless them, that you would guide and

1072. you would direct them, that you would give

1073. them strength and encouragement, and hope

1074. and comfort, support, wisdom, discernment

1075. in every area as they walk in life with

1076. these little precious daughters of theirs.

1077. And God, I pray, to help us as a

1078. congregation to come alongside them,

  1079. offering support and encouragement

1080. and guidance and help as well.

1081. And God, I pray over all of us, all of

1082. our families, all the children you've

1083. entrusted to us, all the relationships

1084. that you've put us in, may we be a light

1085. that shines brightly, giving hope and

1086. encouragement and sharing your love.

1087. Thank you for this morning.

1088. Thank you for this special time together.

1089. And God, I pray you'd help us

1090. to walk in amazing love towards

1091. others in the week ahead.

  1092. In Jesus' name, amen.
