Good morning, gals.

Welcome to uh week seven of our summer song series here um with Grove Women Live.

And um I don't know, like these go out on our podcast.

So if there's anybody else out there that's listening to this, welcome.

Uh it is a I guess it's gonna be a very rainy Tuesday here in northern Kentucky.

So um I don't know.

I'm working from home today.

I love that.

So I hope that you stay safe and dry uh today.

But today, week seven of our summer song series, we are gonna talk about um a song.

I honestly, I can't even get through it without crying.

That's just the truth.

And I know if you've been hanging on for the last few weeks or months with us, then you have learned that I am just in a season of life where I cry a lot.

Um and I don't I don't know what's going on with me.

I think things are just changing in my world.

In fact, um, even in this room right now, like as I'm talking with you all, as you're hopping on and and jumping on with us, like I'm looking in this little office that I have upstairs.

And actually, I'm just gonna show it to you.

Uh, if you look and see in this room, uh, we are packing up.

We are starting the process of packing up my youngest, my baby, um, who is leaving uh to go to school here in just a couple of weeks.

He leaves on August 4th, and I am not well.

So maybe that is one of the sources of all of uh my emotion lately.

But um, it's good, it's awesome.

The Lord has worked, and I am excited for him and his future.

But um, but yeah, this mama's heart is oh, just a little weepy.

So, anyway, um, I will probably cry through this entire session today.

So that may cause you to log off right now.

And uh if it does, I'm sorry.

But um, we Lori and I try just real hard to be super real and authentic and and share, you know, the the truth of what we learned on Sunday and how it applies to our own hearts and to a woman's heart.

So that's what I'm gonna try to do this morning.

So uh so as you pop on, say good morning, say hi.

So next week, last week for the summer song series, Lori's gonna finish it out with um, I'm oh, what's the title?

I'm I'm grateful for you.

I guess that's the official title.

Man, that is a jam.

I don't know about you, but if you've heard it on Christian radio or if you um, man, I love that song.

That is one of those songs that I don't even care what people see when they see me singing it in my car or whatever, because it's just so, so good.

So Lori, you'll talk about that one next week, and that will close this series.

Uh, we'll take a short break and then um when school starts, we'll we'll come back and we're gonna do a four-week short series uh called We Are Family.

Um, so that will start the week of August 16th.

I'll start that off that week.

Um, and I think Lori will probably be willing to go back and forth with me that week, but we're gonna talk about what it means to be family in this family of God.

So that'll be a great series in August.

So that is what's coming.

Uh let me get us going with a word of prayer, and then we're gonna launch into I Speak Jesus today.

We're gonna we're gonna talk all the way through that one.

Okay.

All right, so let's pray.

Father God, thank you.

Thank you for meeting not just us here in this live and in the these next few moments, but thank you for meeting me here and and where my heart is.

Um, Lord, I do speak your name over all the things.

Uh, Jesus, be present with us this morning and and may your spirit flow and may the words that come out of my mouth be your words and exactly the words that somebody else needs to hear to uh move them closer to to you and your heart.

Lord, thank you for loving us even when we are messy.

And thank you most of all for Jesus, who we will talk about today.

Thank you for that opportunity.

It is in his name I pray.

Amen.

All right, my friends.

So uh this song uh was written.

I didn't know any of the backstory of this song.

It was written at like a writer's workshop, and I guess those are the types of things where they bring in like, you know, really good writers with people that want to be writers.

And from what I what I understand, this was this song was written by um two well-known writers who do it for a living, and four moms that just wanted to experience a writer's camp.

And and Bill said it best on Sunday in our in our church service at Hickory Grove, but he said, When you read the lyrics of this song, it is it does not surprise you that moms wrote this song.

Um, and I believe that's true.

Like there are lines, and I'm actually gonna read the lines here in just a couple of minutes, but man, they hit hard.

And if you are like me and you are a praying mama who wants her children in eternity over anything else, and if you um, you know, you speak the name of Jesus over them, and like this song just it grabs, it grabs the heart.

Um, so we're gonna talk about that, but we're also gonna talk about not just the song and the lyrics of the song, but we're gonna talk about um a miracle that happened in Acts chapters three and four.

But but we're gonna kind of dig deeper, um, just the way that I feel like the Lord is leading this morning.

So uh I'm excited about that.

But let's start with this song.

And I apologize, yesterday was a non-stop day.

Lori and I try really, really hard to post a version of the song so that you can prepare your heart and hear it and and all of that.

And and I will do that in the comments.

Um, I'll post my favorite version of it by Charity Gale.

It's so good, it's so powerful.

So take time to watch that after this um and give your heart just a real blessing with um with that actual song.

Sing it, sing it from the rooftops, girls.

Um, but I forgot to do that yesterday, so I apologize for that.

But we're gonna let me just kind of walk through some of these lyrics.

Um, and sometimes we sing the songs and we don't always know all the words, but when we just stop and read the lyrics, like that preaches, it preaches so hard on my heart.

So I speak Jesus.

It starts out, I just want to speak the name of Jesus over every heart and every mind.

Because I know there is peace within your presence.

I speak Jesus.

Oh, girls, do we know that there is peace in his presence?

Oh, I'm gonna tell a story about that here in just a couple of minutes.

Um, the next uh verse or the next section.

I just want to speak the name of Jesus till every dark addiction starts to break, declaring there is hope and there is freedom.

I speak Jesus.

And then the chorus says, Your name is power, your name is healing, your name is life.

Break every stronghold, shine through the shadows, burn like a fire.

Oh, I just want to speak the name of Jesus over fear and all anxiety to every soul held captive by depression.

I speak Jesus, and then it says, shout Jesus from the mountains and Jesus in the streets and Jesus in the darkness over every enemy.

And here's the part that gets me Jesus for my family.

I speak the holy name, Jesus, and then it repeats.

And girls, listen, um, at the end today, like typically when we finish these lives, we pray, and I'm just gonna pray that song in the name of Jesus over you.

So uh that's how I I think he's gonna let us uh uh end today.

But wow, those words, that chorus, your name is power, your name is healing, your name is life.

Like, I don't know if we think about this often enough, but just in the name of Jesus Christ, like healing, power, life, like what more is there?

What more could we desire?

Not that not that we're seeking power, but like, do we tap in to the power that is available to us in the person of Jesus Christ, in the spirit of the living God?

Like, do we tap in to that power?

I know I don't, not mere often enough.

I know that I don't.

And and actually what we're gonna read in Acts chapter three, like hearing Peter, and I believe it's uh, let's see, Peter and John.

I think, yeah, Peter and John, and just how they they speak the name of Jesus over this man and it heals him, but it doesn't just heal him, like it goes way farther than that.

And and I think that that is one of the takeaways for us today is that when we speak the name of Jesus, oh my goodness, the ripple effects of that.

And and our hearts, man, they're so unbelieving sometimes, you know.

Like, I don't know about you, but there are there are times, and even this morning as I'm praying over like our time together, there are a couple of situations where I'm like, I don't know where you are in this.

I don't know where you are, but but as a believer, like I have to continue to speak his name over the situation and know that he is gonna work all things out for the good of those who love him.

Like, I know that.

Um, so anyway, let me okay, let me let me start with just a couple of stories about speaking the name of Jesus, and then we're gonna go into Acts chapter three.

Um, so last fall, I actually have uh just a couple of little tidbits of speaking the name of Jesus and and powerful stories attached to that.

So last fall, um, I don't know why, but man, it felt like our family was just under attack.

Um, and and I can't even I can't even name right now like the ways that we were under attack, uh just as a family, but um just from little ways to big ways.

And and so anyway, one of my little stories is um my youngest who's getting ready to go to college in a couple of weeks.

Um, he's a football player and he has been playing football basically his whole life.

He loves it, he's he's good at it, he's gonna play football in college.

Uh, I mean, it's it's awesome.

Um, and last fall, we were trying to, we were trying to get him to understand that everything he has comes from the Lord.

Like he's not doing any of it, of the things that he's doing on his own.

And if he will just trust the Lord's process, like all the other things that he hopes for, like the Lord will work all that out.

And so we were we were trying to just, you know, keep him helping because he he was good, he was breaking records, he was doing things, but but we want the message of his life not to be, yeah, I set this record or I I did this or I did that.

We don't want that to be um what his life is based on.

We want his life based on Christ and what Jesus will do through him.

So anyway, it was about midway through the season, and and he's out there and it was a big game.

Like we anticipated him to really have um a lot of yardage and a lot of touchdowns and just, you know, like whatever, and you know, hilarious, you know, the way we plan out our life.

But anyway, and I know that this sounds dumb and trivial, but hang with me.

So, anyway, he is doing awful out there.

Like the whole first half, I'm just like, what is going on?

Like, he was running wrong plays and he was dropping balls, and he was like things he doesn't do because you know, my son is a perfectionist, he plans, he prepares, he, you know, whatever.

So he's he is struggling.

And I am like, what is happening?

So honestly, Steve and I, being, you know, sport parents, we're like, man, we hope that coach gets a hold of him in the locker room and like, you know, whatever.

I I know it's terrible, it's awful.

But I can say that like every game, you know, my prayer, I would just pray that the Lord would protect his heart and protect his body and just, you know, like like tell your story through for through him.

Okay, whatever.

So fast forward, uh, the second half goes way better and great.

But after the game, like he gets home from the game and I'm like, dude, what was going on with you?

Like, you didn't even look like yourself out there.

And here's what he said, Mom, I don't even know what was happening, but there were it felt like hundreds of voices in my head and swimming around me that just kept saying, You're gonna get hurt.

You uh you are not meant to like just all of this negative, bad, terrible, you know, stuff.

And he's like, I just it was horrible, mom.

Like I just I felt surrounded by just these voices that were just like like oh consuming me.

That's what he said, just consuming me.

And I'm like, oh mercy.

And so, um, and so then he said, I said, so what changed?

And he said, Well, I just went into the locker room and I just said, Jesus, help me.

Jesus, help me.

And he said, the voice has disappeared the second half, and I'm like, Oh my goodness, my child who's being attacked by demons.

I believe that.

Like, I believe that sometimes we don't give enough credit to the spiritual warfare that is happening around us.

And and so, like, he's like, Mom, I just said Jesus, help me.

And the voices disappeared.

I'm not kidding, that is truth.

You can ask him.

So, in that same season, um, our third boy, so the one that's right above our youngest, he's he just turned 21.

Um, he sent me a text one day, and he's like, I just need to talk to you.

And I'm like, Okay.

And so when we finally get together to talk, um, he's like, I just need to tell you what happened last night.

And so this is in the same season last fall that this happened as well.

And he says, Mom, I just, you know, like I fell asleep, and he said, I just woke up in the dead of night and um and I saw a creature coming out of my wall.

And I'm like, listen, me, minister, I'm like, Caden, like, you know, were you?

I shouldn't have said his name.

But anyway, um, I'm like, you know, are you like just were you dreaming, you know, whatever?

And he's like, no, mom, I'm not kidding.

Like, there was, there was, I can't even describe just this dark creature coming out of my wall.

And he said, it terrified me.

And he said, All I knew to do was say the name of Jesus.

And he said, I just kept saying, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, and it disappeared.

Well, again, like I don't know why the enemy was attacking my kids in these very what I would consider very real ways, but um, but again, another example of just speaking the name of Jesus and the power that it has.

Like, I truly believe that both my boys were being attacked by the enemy, by dark forces, by, I don't know, demons, whatever.

And at the name of Jesus, they fled.

I believe that with my entire heart um that that is what happened.

And um, so I mean, that's that's just one example, two examples of how when we speak the name of Jesus, things happen.

Now, I'm gonna read an example from God's word of what happened when Peter and John spoke the name of Jesus, and then I'm gonna share one more um example just from my own life of what speaking the name of Jesus does.

And listen, I get it, guys.

Like life is hard, and there are circumstances that I don't understand, and there are things we go through where it feels like we have zero answers and we don't understand what in the world's going on, and we feel like we're far from God and He's not listening.

But I believe that Jesus, when we speak his name over situations and over the things in our life, like I believe we are tapping into a power we don't even understand.

I believe that with my whole heart.

So, and I believe that the apostles, I believe that they believed that too, that they believe that this resurrection power that is coursing through our veins because we have said yes to Christ, and because um, like we are are, you know, we're connected to him, like they believed it too.

So I'm just gonna read a few verses in Acts chapter three, and then I'm gonna kind of hit what happened, the ripple effect of what happened after that.

So chapter three and verse in in Acts begins this way.

Now, Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour, and a man lame from birth.

Okay, so this guy has been lame since he was born, couldn't couldn't walk, okay?

Um, was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the beautiful gate, to ask alms of those entering the temple.

So I'm I'm picturing, you know, like somebody begging, you know, for for money or for food or whatever.

Um, and Peter directed his gaze at him, he looked at him, as did John, and said, Look at us.

And he fixed his attention on them.

So the man looked up at them, expecting to receive something from them.

So the man is thinking they're going to hand him something, right?

But Peter said, I have no silver and gold, but what I do have, I give to you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Rise up and walk.

And he took him by the right hand, raised him up, and immediately, guys, immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.

And leaping up, he stood and began to walk and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

And all the people saw him walking and praising God and recognized him as the one who had sat at the beautiful gate of the temple asking for alms.

And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what happened to him.

Immediately, this man, and I I don't know where it is, but somewhere in here it talks about for 40 years this guy could not walk.

So, you know, Bill made us think about like just the atrophy, like of the muscle and the like the weakness of the bones, and like just immediately this man was strengthened and walked.

We don't see stuff like that very often, right?

And honestly, we probably do more often than we don't because man, I hear about miracles in the hospital and at sick beds all the time.

How like just with no answer, people are healed and they stand and they are alive and and here to tell about it.

So, um, so anyway, uh I love that in this in this moment, Peter and John are just like, hey, I don't have what you're asking for, but I'm gonna give you something better.

Love it.

Okay, so after that, it acts chapter three goes right into Pete Peter preaches a sermon and and he, you know, preaches this sermon.

And because of that sermon, 5,000 people are saved, guys.

5,000.

Well, probably more than that because it says 5,000.

I think it says men.

Yeah.

Uh, but many of those, this is Acts chapter 4, verse 4.

Acts 4:4

But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of men came to about 5,000.

So they believed 5,000 were saved because of Peter's.

And and also what's amazing about this, okay?

This is Peter's second sermon, second time.

Just two, the second time that he shares his his, I mean, that he preaches to the people, and 5,000 people come to know Christ.

Wild.

Wild, wild, wild.

Okay.

Um, and then later on in Acts chapter 4, verse 13, it says that the people, when they saw, no, wait, that may be the religious leaders.

Acts 4:13

Yes, the religious leaders, when they saw their boldness of Peter and John, they perceived that they were uneducated common men.

They were astonished, okay?

So they didn't think these guys were anything.

Man, do you ever feel like that?

Do you ever feel like, oh man, I don't have what it takes.

I'm not equipped.

I can't do the things.

I don't have no, you don't.

Guess what?

You don't.

Neither did Peter and John, but because of the power of Jesus Christ, whoo, yes, so good.

But then later on in verse 16, it says, But we cannot deny it.

And then later on in verse 31 of chapter 4, it says, and when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

Okay, this story, this account of these events blows my mind in so many ways.

But there are a couple of things that it makes me think of.

You know, like in the song, Your Name is Power, Your Name is Healing, Your Name is Life.

We see all of those things in this account with Peter and John and this lame man.

We see his power, we see his healing, and we see that he gives life to thousands of people.

And I wonder, like, I wonder why today we don't think that this can still happen.

And I'm talking to myself here.

Like, I am preaching to me.

Like, why do I think that the power of Jesus Christ is any less powerful today than it was then, any less uh able to heal today than it did then, any less able to give life today than it did then?

Like for whatever reason, we've either gotten so distracted and so far removed, and and I don't know.

Like, I don't know what in me keeps me from believing in this type of power, but man, I want that barrier knocked down, don't you?

Don't you want to like see the amazing things of God and stand in awe of what he does?

I want that.

I want that.

And sometimes I think it's just because I just don't believe he's capable anymore, which is bananas.

That's bananas.

So the other story that I want to share with you is um, and these, you know, right now we're talking about wild things, demons and healing and laymen walking, and and I don't know, maybe for some of you you're like, oh, that's a lot.

That's a lot.

I don't know about all of that.

Okay.

I get you.

Um but there's another story about the name of Jesus that um that came to mind when I was thinking about this.

My mom, my mom is such a good, I mean, she's such a tender heart for Christ.

She always has been.

Um, from the time I was little.

Like my mom has always known and loved Jesus.

And it's always been um, it's just been such, I mean, it's just such a characteristic of who she is.

And my mom is also a very good piano player.

Like, she is an excellent piano player.

And um growing up, like, um, I don't think I really realized until I was an adult just how bad things were sometimes or how poor we really were.

I mean, like we right, like when I was in the fourth grade, we lived in this, I mean, we still call it the shack.

And and I thought that was just a funny name for a home when I was younger.

But now thinking about the actual like condition of this place that we lived in, my dad was part of the trucking industry in Richmond, Indiana, and it went under and he lost a big good job.

And then, like, that whole area was just the economy tanked, and there were no jobs, and like it was just wild.

Um, and so we didn't have anything.

My mom worked for like less than barely minimum wage back then.

I think it was like four or five dollars an hour, and that's what she was uh, she was the provider for our home of three children and you know, two adults.

So anyway, we lived in this home that we endearingly call the shack.

Um, and I do remember like there were unfinished rooms, like there was not plywood and pretty paint, like there were like wood slats that you could kind of see through in different places.

I do remember that like, you know, there wasn't carpet throughout the house.

And and like I can remember in the kitchen specifically, like the linoleum only came so far.

So then you just saw kind of what was under and like I mean, just wild, you know.

Now we were happy.

Like we lived in this wooded area.

So me and my brothers, man, we just ran and and discovered and explored and cornfields all around us, and so we didn't know much different uh back then, not until we got older, just how bad it was.

Um, I can remember people, I can remember coming, you know, home from school or whatever, and there's being bags of groceries on our front, you know.

So I I did not realize how dire the situation was.

But I remember um many times um one of the things that my mom had of value was a piano.

And that thing, man, that thing moved with us everywhere we went.

And in fact, this is kind of a side funny story, but when we moved from Indiana to Kentucky, um my husband, we lived next to him, and when we moved into our very first house, like real house, um, not a mobile home, not a whatever, when we moved into our first real house, my husband lived down the street, and my my dad was like, hey, you're gonna help us move this piano up these steps.

And so my husband has very vivid memories of moving that piano.

But anyway, anytime life was stressful, my mom's coping mechanism was sitting down and playing at the piano.

And she would just play songs.

And there was there was one moment where our little shot caught on fire, and I mean we had no place to go.

My dad put it out, and she came back in and she just started playing the piano.

And one of the songs my mom would play, and I'm gonna I'm gonna butcher it because it's been so long, but it came to my mind when I was thinking about this live, was an old song, um, I think by the Gaither Trio, which by the way, my parents love the Gaither Trio.

Uh, or the Gaiters.

Anyway, the song was Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.

There's just something about that name.

Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain.

Um, oh uh, let's see, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, let all heaven and earth proclaim kings and kingdoms will all fade away, but there's something about that name, and I can remember like my mom playing that song, like when the world was literally on fire around her or crumbling because we had nothing, or you know, like my mom, she would say the name of Jesus, she would play the name of Jesus.

And I here's what I remember about that.

That song specifically when she would play it, but just when she would play any song that had the name of Jesus, like the way it would calm our home.

You know, we would just sit and we would just listen to her play these songs about Jesus, and they would give peace and we would feel his presence, and they would change my dad from, you know, like angry and frustrated and discouraged and depressed to just calm and assured that things were gonna be okay.

And so, yes, there is power and healing in the name of Jesus, but also in this world, girls, where things are just like you look all the way around, and it just feels like the world is on fire.

Literally, it is in some places.

Like, I don't know any other way to bring peace.

And I know I've learned this from my mother and witnessing what the name of Jesus does to give peace and to give hope and to give freedom from the shackles of the world, you know?

Um, so I guess that is the point this morning.

And the question I want to ask you before I pray this song over us is just what do you need to remember the power of Jesus' name in your life?

Like, where in your life do you need to remember the power of Jesus' name?

That's the question.

Where in your life?

Is it stress?

Like, is it finances?

Is it kids?

Is it relationships?

Is it job?

Is it unbelief?

Is it lacking faith?

Is it like, I don't know.

Like, I don't know, is it abuse?

Is it um like I don't know?

There are so many things that the world like makes us a prisoner to.

I don't know what it is for you where you need to remember the power of Jesus' name.

But I am telling you today that when you finish this live, speak the name of Jesus over whatever that is, and the darkness will flee.

There will be hope, there will be peace in the chaos.

Like I've seen it.

I've seen it in my children, I've seen it growing up, I've seen what the name of Jesus does.

And honestly, like, especially after those two incidents with demons, like, oh my goodness, like I prayed the name of Jesus over every inch of this house.

You know what I mean?

Like, I've seen what the power of Jesus' name can do, and I am hopeful in what the power of Jesus' name will do, like in my church and in my community and in people's lives.

Like, I want to see 5,000 people saved and filled with the Holy Spirit.

I want to see that.

And in the name of Jesus, I believe that it can happen.

So I don't know, like, look for ways, um, even in the next few moments, after I hop off here, like to speak the name of Jesus over your life today, to speak the name of Jesus.

Let's get comfortable with saying the name of Jesus because like even the demons know his name and they go.

And even people who don't believe, you know, like it does something.

Jesus, the gospel of Jesus Christ is offensive and it's gonna bring people to it, like, period.

So, all right, to close things today, man, I am so sorry.

I always go over, but to to close things out, I'm just gonna in a prayerful way speak these words over you and your heart today.

So if you will just bow with me and just listen, and as I say the words, like you speak the words and speak his name over your life and your family and your circle of the world today and watch him work.

Okay.

All right, so here we go.

Oh, Father, I just want to speak the name of Jesus over every heart and every mind.

I know there is peace within your presence, so I speak the name of Jesus.

I speak the name of Jesus till every dark addiction starts to break.

And Lord, I speak the name of Jesus, declaring there is hope and there is freedom in your name.

I speak your name, Jesus.

Your name is power, your name is healing, your name is life.

So I am asking you, Jesus, break every stronghold, shine through the shadows, and burn like a fire within us.

Lord, I just want to speak your name over all fear, all anxiety, and to every soul that is held captive by depression.

I speak the name of Jesus.

Lord, help us to shout your name from the mountains in the streets and in the darkness over every enemy we face.

Lord Jesus, may we speak your name over our families and watch you work in that.

Lord, I know there is peace within your presence, so I speak your name, Jesus, over every woman, every person who hears this today.

Amen.

And I hope that he works and shows up for you in a way you can't even think or imagine today.
