So good to be back with you and to be sharing God's word. I

was going to start with a couple of just thoughts, and actually today's really

me just sharing thoughts rather than me preaching a three point message to you.

It's just going to be me sharing thoughts. And I call it prophetic edge

more because I don't know where this is going either, so we'll see how

we see how we get along and see what God has for us. But

I wanted to start with something very simple because I was listening to my son

preach two weeks ago. He's in a church in Bristol called E five.

It's an elim Pentecostal church, and in the middle of his preach he tells

a story which I didn't really remember, and I'm very good at remembering stuff,

but he tells a story of this church when he was eighty years old

and he got filled with the Holy Ghost in this church, probably seventeen years

ago. And he mentions Julia Dave in his preach, and I'm standing,

I'm watching it online, of course, and I'm thinking, you know,

you lose track of what God does, or what God is doing, or

what God continues to do that in a small town, which is no more

small anymore. Again over in Manor Cross School, my son got filled with

the Holy Ghost and today the youth pastor in Bristol, But who knew that

the seeds that were sown in this church would later become eternal seeds for the

future. And I say that to kind of premise what I'm going to be

sharing today, because all I'm sharing today is more a conversation rather than a

preach at you. It's more a conversation on who are we really and what

is really going on around us? And then I recognize living in Berlin,

you're kind of a bit more detached from what's happening in the UK. But

being in the UK in the last three or four days, the reality of

the Queen dying and all that entails really dawns on you. And for someone

like me, seventy years is a long time. Like for me, the

Queen has been alive forever, and mentally I still think she still is,

Like I see an image of her and I feel like she's still alive and

she's not dead, but you know, but you know what I mean.

But for other people, a friend of mine was telling me that her mom

was sixteen years old when the king died. And even just hearing her say

she was her mom was sixteen year old when the king died, was like

her, oh, like really, like your mom was alive when the king

died, and she remembers the cannons being blown, and she was saying tomorrow

that there's going to be canons also. And I just think sometimes the perspective

you have of life determines how you see things. So for me, I

was thinking, all this pump and padantry is all new for King Charles,

but for her it's like I remember I was sixteen years old when Queen Elizabeth

went to the throw. And it's kind of an interesting perspective that you could

have on life, because sometimes we're very siloed in our vision. We're very

siloed in what we see, but actually there's a bigger picture. And today

I want to kind of dare to take you on the journey to look at

a bigger picture. And my first scripture today is Hebrews, chapter six,

verse seventeen, and I have to read this in the King James just to

prove a point. So don't worry, I will read the rest and amplified.

But this particular verse I wanted to read in the King James because I

want you to see with me how this verse unpacked for me as an individual,

and hopefully it will unpack for you as we look at this scripture today

and it starts with wearing God. Com I mean, we could do a

whole series on wearing God. It's like, it's almost like, because of

what has just happened up until now, because of what's happened up until now,

because of what's happened up until now, God is gonna do something,

say something at something based on what has just happened. And we'll come back

in a second. I just want you to be with me in this moment

of wearing God, you know, as a result of God, because of

God willing, God willing more abundantly and again I pause there. God is

first of all, God is willing, and he is more abundantly willing to

do what Because for me to think that God is willing is good. That's

like whoa whoa God is willing. God is willing to talk to me.

God is willing to speak to me. God is willing to reach out to

me. God is willing to help me. That's enough for me. But

actually the Hebrew writers said God willing more abundantly, And so there is a

second emphasis on the willing that God is willing more abundantly to show onto the

heirs of the promise, the owners of the promise, which are you and

I. This particular passage is talking about Abraham as the hell of the promise,

which will come to you in a second. The worry. We'll come

back to it, but I just need to pause in this place. The

promise, the immutability, that is the unchanging nature of his counsel. And

so what this verse is saying God was willing more abundantly to show to you

and I in this present age. Whether a king is on the throne or

a queen is on the throne, it doesn't really matter. God's promise to

you and I is unchangeable. He confirmed it by a note. So here's

what happened. God promises something and says, I'm gonna do something for you.

Right, I'm gonna take care of you. I'm gonna give you everything

that but the life and godliness. That's a promise, and for me it's

good enough. It's like going to the bank and the bank says to you,

I will give you a mortgage right of X amounts and then coming back

to you and say, not only will I give you this mortgage, but

this mortgage is an unconditional offer. It's not gonna change. I was thinking,

maybe that's not going to good. Good example, Let's take my daughter

is about to go to university. Imagine she goes to university and they say

to her, we don't care what grades you have. We actually don't even

care if you finish your air level. We're giving you an unconditional offer that

when it comes to September twenty twenty three, you will have a place.

That's the nearest examples I can give to what's happening here. God says,

I promise you something, but I'm going to swear I'm gonna give you a

promised rene on top of my promise as a signed AFID deferit that what I

promised you is going to happen. And the reality is that do we really

look at God like that? That God is not only willing to swear to

you that he will fulfill his promise, but it's actually willing to confirm it

for you. And God is going the extra mile to confirm to you and

I the promise, And I would like you to just pause for a second

because there are the people in the room that the people on lie. Think

for a second. What is the promise of God to you? Let's think

about it. There could be many, and if you have none, right,

start with one, which is I will love you with an ever lasting

love. That promise is sealed, but it's sworn upon. I swear to

you I would love you with an ever lasting love. His promises, all

things that pertain to life and to Godliness I have given to you. Because

doesn't matter there I say. It's what British Gaes sends you in the post.

Everything you need to live. God has promised to give it to you.

Now. Sorry, Simon, I don't you might not have this,

and I don't know whether you can do it quickly. But I was praying

this morning and then I saw the passion translation of the scripture. So I

don't know whether you can do it, but it's not I'll just read it.

So the passion translation of this verse says this. So in the same

way, God wanted to end all doubt and confirmed it even more forcefully to

those who would inherit His promise. His purpose was unchangeable, so God added

his vow to the promise and just pause for there for a second. The

same verse is saying in another translation, so in the same way, God

wanted to end all doubt. He wanted you to have no doubt like the

fact that God promised you something. You should have no doubt anyway. But

God says to end any doubt like beond a shadow of a doubt in case

you doubt this, in case you do not believe this, I want you

to understand that I'm gonna even more forcefully show to you the air of the

promise that my purpose would never change for you. Doesn't matter what time of

life you're in. You could be ten years old today and you could be

ninety years old today, doesn't matter. His promise still stands. Great is

his faithfulness. So let's get the context, and I'm gonna go to the

amplified this simon does have and we're gonna go to verse thirteen. Hopefully.

I'm let's get the context around the scripture, because sometimes it's good for you

to get the context so you understand where verse seventeen is coming from. So

the context starts here, for when God made his promise to Abraham. And

for those of you who do not want to know what that promise was,

Abraham was around years old. He hadn't got a child, and God promised

him, you will have a child. Biologically, this is impossible. It's

not even visible for you or for Sarah. And so when Sarah heard it,

she laughed about it. And then the Bible says, the Angel of

the Lord that was there, predentator, why did you laugh? But according

to the time of life, I will visit you and you will be with

child. Right. So God makes a promise to Abraham, and he swore

by himself, and you will understand why he swore by himself later, since

he had no one greater by whom to swear. And so God is like,

I want to make this promise to you. I want you to re

understand, Dave, that I'm going to take care of everything that concerns you,

like now and forever like. But how do I really confirm this to

you. I need to swear in front of a judge. But there's nobody

greater than myself. So I swear by myself to you. So God swears

by himself to the nation of England that even if there's a transition of monarchy,

I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not It's a

promise, it's confirmed. He seals it with the Holy Spirit. And I

really want this to be personal today because I could make it about everything else,

but it's personal to you. And as I'm speaking today, think about

the promises of God to you that I have not yet been fulfilled. Many

of the people in this room would know a guy called Keith Hazel who when

he was flying and the aeroplane began to shake, and the guy next to

him and said, are you not afraid? And he says, I'm not

afraid because I still have prophetic words that I have not been fulfilled. So

I'm not dying on this plane. And he did it, and we know

he has gone to glory now, but I believe that's because he finished his

race. I was in a village in Malwi, miles and miles away from

here, miles and miles away from Canada, and I meet a family totally

revolutionized, the church built because of Keith his work. And so I think

only Heaven will really reveal what people do and have done on the earth and

why am I giving this story. I'm giving this story because sometimes we don't

fully understand personally and individually what it means when God promises you something, Because

the reason is when you got promises you something. Yes, what the first

thing happens against that promise? The enemy comes and attacks that promise. Abraham

looks at his body and says, I can't have a child. Sarah thinks

we can't have a child. Well, let's try and help God. And

you know the story of Haga coms ishbel comes. But yet in the midst

of all of that, even with that quote unquote disobedience, God is still

making a promise to Abraham and he says this. That's what's him says to

him, I will surely bless you. I will surely multiply, surely,

there's no doubt next verse fifteen. So it was that Abraham, having waited

long and then doored patiently, realized and obtained in the birth of Isaac and

the pledge of what was to come what God had promised him. And again

I'm stuck in this verse. I'm like, whoa, okay, what a

second, let's tree that again. And so it was that he Abraham,

having waited long, and I'm like, well, he didn't really wait long

because he tried to get a substitute. But the rights of Hebrews looked at

it very differently. He said, having waited long, having gone through all

the things that he went through. So sometimes when I take a deviation,

God doesn't see that as a deviation. He just sees it as waiting time.

Peter says this that God is not slack concerning his promises, as we

men count slackless. Because when God says to me, I'm gonna bless you,

I want God to bless me. Now why wait? Why not bless

me in twenty twenty two? But God is saying, my blessing you is

not limited to time, because God himself is not limited to time. He's

not constrained by time. He's not bound by time. He doesn't need time

in He's timeless. And God is not looking at you in September twenty twenty

two. He's looking at you in the context of who you are. And

I think if we could just zoom back and zoom out and have a big

picture look a where we are as a nation, as a family, as

a person, it would help us to understand that God is boundless, he's

timeless, and his promise is still that now today. And as I want

to make it personal, because we can make it general, we can make

it specific to this church, We can make it specific to your family.

But why do you make it specific to yourself? What does this mean to

you? The God who promised says, I will surely bless you, and

I will surely multiply you. So then verse sixteen, men indeed swear by

a greater than themselves, and with them in all disputes they're all taken for

confirmation is the final ending of strife. And so what God did he was

saying as a man and as a woman. If you're in an argument and

a judge or a witness comes through the argument and says, do you swear,

sir, that what you said is true? And do you swear matter

what you said is true. Once you do the swearing, the Bible is

saying that's the end of the dispute. You walk away and say, okay,

it's over. And so in our own lives are we assured in God

that God's oh is the end of any dispute. Eleven o'clock last night,

my phone rang almost thank you there. My phone rang at eleven o'clock last

night and a guy in Berlin who used to attend the church I used to

attend, tells me, I'm standing over my mother's dead bit she literally died

she seconds ago. What do I do? And you know, when you

get a phone call like that, my brain is all over the place.

You don't want to say the wrong thing. You want to be encouraging,

You want to understand what is God's saying in this moment. Anybody losing anybody

at any time in their life is a difficult thing, let alone it happening

life. And as I stood there, I just felt the Lord say to

me, just tell him the fact that you're in the room is a gift.

It's a gift. Many people lose loved ones and you're not present.

They tell you the story of how your loved one left. And here he

is standing over his mother's dead body. The doctors have just left the room,

and he's asking me what do I do? And I said, I

know it's going to sound like a cliche, but I'm telling you you just

need to give thanks, because this moment right now is a gift. You

need to take the moment to close out on what is happening and say you'll

finding goodbyes because tomorrow it is today, the dynamics changed, Tomorrow is now

dead. Certificate having your siblings explaining what has happened. And in the middle

of all of that, I was like, God, I really need to

give this guy some hope. You're a young man on the thirty and this

song came to me. Do it again. It's by elevation and basically the

song top and the tail of the song is saying, your promise still stands

like. It doesn't change now because my moment is dead. It doesn't change

now because the queen is dead. It doesn't change now because there was a

war in Ukraine. It doesn't change now because COVID happened. It doesn't change

now because the pound is falling. His promise doesn't change now because dollar has

fallen. His promised doesn't change now because maybe I have a difficult boss.

It's probably doesn't change now because maybe the best thing that could happen to me

I've lost. It doesn't change now because I don't have control. It doesn't

change now. The promise of God is independent of all the things that are

happening around me. And I've come to tell you this morning that the promise

of God to you is independent and he's not bound by the things around you.

And that God said to Abraham, he says to you also, I

will bless you. I will multiply. Now you might look at the table

and the cards by not be in your favor. Maybe you lost a job,

maybe you lost the house, maybe you lost a friend, but that

doesn't determine the totality of who you are. Look At what the next verse

says, verse seventy, which is where we started. Now in the king,

Jim says, according accordingly, God also in his desire to show more

convincingly and beyond doubt to those who were to inherit the promise, the unchangeableness

of his purpos and plan. Look at what he says, He intervened.

God intervenes in our situation. God intervenes in our today. God intervenes in

our moments of struggle. God intervenes in our trial. God intervenes in the

midst of everything. He intervenes. He mediates with an oath like this is

now binding your mind. I will bless you. Your latter will be greater

your best days are not behind you, They're ahead of you. Bible says,

greater is he who lives in us than he who is in the world.

And I believe that sometimes we need to distill it down to simple biblical

truth rather than media frenzy. The simple biblical truth said this. Accordingly,

God also, in his desire to show more convincingly beyond doubt to those who

were to inherit the promise, the unchangeableness of his purpose and plan, intervened

mediated with an oath. And look at verse eighteen. This was why did

God do this? Like why have I found verse seventeen today? This is

the purpose of why God did this? This was saw that by two unchangeable

things his promise, and it's off to you and to me in which it

is impossible for God ever to prove forth or deceive us. And that the

common there, which is a good place for me to pause. Have God

deceived you? Has God lie to you? It's a personal thing. I'll

tell you the truth. Sometimes I think God, You're playing a trick because

just when everything seems to be perfect, I mean, the perfect job,

earning the perfect amount of money, living in a perfect house, and all

of a sudden, the enemy raised his ugly head, and I'm thinking,

God, are you playing a joke on me? Like I thought I have

reached paradise? And the reality is God, he's not playing a joke on

us. He is not proven to be force, he is not deceiving us.

He's holding firm to his promise. So the Bible says, when the

enemy comes in like a flood, the spirit of God will lift up a

standing against death. The Bible says this, and I don't know whether you've

ever thought about it, because we all love Psalm twenty three, one of

my favorite psalms. He says, even though I walk with the value of

the shadow of death, and my first question is, Broke, what you're

doing in the shadow of death? Sis, what are you doing in the

shadow of death? And the family said, even though I walk with the

value of the shadow of death. Even though I opened my mail this morning

and I see a bill that I don't think I can handle, or I

get a letter that I don't think I can manage, or the taxman sends

me a nice kind of note of how much I owe him, or maybe

I think my ministry opportunities are over. I have a fallen out with the

pastor or I have a fallen out with a friend, or my marriage has

hit rock bottom. I'm just telling you that no matter what the circumstances look

like, doesn't matter. Paint whatever negative way you want to paint it,

or whatever you're going through. The Bible says this God, It's impossible for

God ever to prove false or deceive us. And I'm stopping there for a

moment because I feel it just sinks that God for me to re emphasize this,

because the world we live in tells us otherwise. My son I was

with him yesterday in Bristol and he says they prayed for him because they have

the ration on his body. And his friend came over a week later and

said, how come you're not healed or you oblay the faith? And it's

like, how do you even deal with that? Like where do you go

with that? And then the whole mindset comes in like does it take face

to who heals? How do you get healed? Blah blah blah, you

get you can get mixed up in the mess of human understanding. The reality

is no one can heal, only God does. No one can say only

God does. No one can provide, only God does. And if you

have ever any doubt about that, the Bible says there is nothing. Like

I said, we can unpack this all day long. If I would say,

there is nothing you have received that He didn't fir to give you nothing,

your life, your breast. I used to say that lots of people

went to bed last night, everybody woke up this morning, and the simplest

thing of being able to preach is a gift. And I think that we've

allowed the world to corrupt our view of God, and that the word impossible

for God. Even in the church today, people would like to not say

there is nothing impossible for God, because in our own frailty as human beings,

we see cetain things that's impossible because it's just so difficult. And therefore

we judge God not on God's lenses, but on our own human lenses.

And the Hebrews is trying to make us understand something his promise and his oath

in which it is impossible for God. Ever, I use the word ever,

not likely, but strongly. There is no way you might not fully

understand it. Right now, we might not fully understand why the Queen had

to die in twenty twenty two. We don't fully understand it, and people

feel sorrowful about it. But God, looking down on earth, he says,

it's okay. I got this. It's gonna be okay. And like

if somebody said to me yesterday, actually the queen died in ninety seven,

it's not a bad run. Ninety seven years, Praise the Lord. Is

it painful, yes? Will we have wanted something different, yes, But

it doesn't change that the one who is in control is in control. And

let me be politically correct or uncorrect for a second, Conservative, labor,

independent, doesn't really matter, doesn't They're not in charge. They might think

there, they're not God it and if we get to that place where we

are settled and assured in our hearts. Don't get me wrong, I'm not

saying don't vote. I'm not saying don't campaign. I'm not saying don't have

an opinion. I'm just saying, know that, beyond the shadow of a

doubt, that he who holds the universe nowther slumbers most slips. And when

that is now, you're reassuring assurance. It changes your viewpoint and therefore fear

doesn't come into your heart, because you know God can never be proven false

or wrong. His promise stands forever. Can you put me back up verse

eighteen, so that we who have fled to him, all of us who

have fled to him, Because if you're under the sound of my voice,

at one point in your life, you fled to him, you ran to

him, You've come to him. He's received you. I know who I

was before he came to me, and so I know who I am now

that He has received me. So the Bible says, we who have fled

to Him for a refuge might have might have mighty in due, in strength,

and strong encouragement to grasp hold fast the hope appointed for us and set

it for us. And so the whole essence of God in our time,

in our moment, is to give us hope. I would say, hope

deferred makes the heart sick. And somebody said on the news the other day

that not since Diana died have there been such despair in the nation, which

I understand because a lot of us and I talk generally. Now I'm talking

blanket general statements. Don't put our hope in God, put our hope in

our savings, in our job and our friends in our ability. My invitation

to you today is to say, just give it to him and let me

tell you this. It's easier said than done. And I'll tell you a

story just because I think it's appropriate that I bring this to an end.

I think I'm about to be on time, and I hear the story and

I just felt the Holy story. Just remind me of it because we're talking

about death, We're talking about his promise. And I want to say,

twenty years ago, I was standing preaching in this church about the love of

God and how God's love is unconditional and never changes, and that God can

never be wrong. And while I was preaching this, the Lord asked me

a question, and I feel asking me the same question today, or remind

be of the same thing. And he said to me, so am I

good even in the death of your own born child? And I'm like,

God, not here, not now. I'm preaching, like, can we

have this conversation in another moment. I'm go just like, no, Dave

was there. No, We're having this conversation now because you're telling the people

that I am good all the time, that all things work together for good

for them, that I love and I'm asking you now a personal question in

the death of your unborn child, Am I good? I don't know day

whether you remember this, but I froze. I couldn't preached, I couldn't

continue because God is asking me a question. Am I false? Can you

prove me wrong? That I failed you? In that moment? And I

was like, God, I can't do this like now. Luckily, David.

Then I think between us we kind of navigated, and I had to

get to the point where I had to say to myself, but regardless of

my circumstances, regardless of what I've been through, regardless of my loss,

regardless of my gain, regardless of who I am, regardless of who I

want to be, God it's good and there's nothing I can do about it.

And God's goodness is not dependent on human blessing. His goodness is not

dependent on outcomes that I set. His goodness transcends life. His goodness transcend

situations. His goodness transcends all things. And so as I bring this to

a close, because I my heart's senses that God is speaking to us deeply

individually, let's go back to verse seventeen from the King James, Maybe,

oh, let's let's do it. From Appli five, there's one one back.

I think verse seventeen. I bring us to a clothes and I'll tell

you I've not got halfway of what I'm planning to preach, but I sense

that this is all God will have me say. Accordingly. God also,

and I want you to understand. I don't know whether you've heard it today

or you don't understand. And in case you missed it, the whole purpose

of my preach today is to elevate once in and ones in alone, the

word God. Because sometimes there are many things that I could elevate, or

that we elevate. We elevate bills, we elevate situations, we elevate circumstances,

or something that is higher than anything else. It's I know that people,

under the sound of my voice, you probably have greater depths of loss

than I have experienced. But the reality is doesn't change God. The badness

of the devil doesn't make God's goodness. And in God's desire to show more

convincingly to you, bright you and enemy, and beyond doubt, beyond doubts,

because we will have that life would throw us curveballs that will make us

doubt it will be for some of us that's more real to a then we

sometimes even agree to life would throw us out. But God says, I

always feel like God is saying, let me whisper. Do you I swear,

I swear to you, I won't let you down, no matter how

deep you think you sun into the sinking sound of life, even if it's

just the spite of your finger there is left. I'll get you out.

Talking about Gee that the Bible say, the Bruise read people would sause.

God did not leave Jesus in hell to die. He sent his Holy Spirit

and yanked him out. If you would do that for his own son,

Yes, for children of God you are sons and daughters did And that's why

we sung Elia. I raise a Hallelijah in the presence of my enemy.

I raise a Hallelujah louder than my own belief. I raise a Halleliah because

God is on the throne. Wherein God willing more abundantly to show on to

the heirs of the promise the immutability of the come his counsel. He confirmed

it to you with an oath. Let's pray to talk to God where you

are. Let me give you a moment to just reflect on what I fail.

I hope, I hope and pray that through the rattling of words,

the spirit of God has later focused and touched you at the point of your

need. All I wanted to do today, God was to create an atmosphere

we need to strengthen and encourage your people. And then I had it over

to you for you to do work deep within us that I imimates doubts that

makes the words impossible for God to be reassuring to us. And now to

him who is able to keep us, made the Lord bless you, made

the Lord keep you, and made the Lord make his face to shine upon

you. May the Lord be gracious to him and made the Lord give you

peace. And may you leave today or whoever's hearing online, whatever time you

hear this, May you leave with one thing in your mind. The God

has promised you, and he swore to keep his promise. Amen.
