Which one. Mm hm h m hm h m hm m m good morning.
-
Yah. Should I pray a f hhka he speaker on his heart in
-
this room online now online later just take my words and then what you want
-
them to be in Jesus names. Good morning. So we're continue in the
-
series. I resist, We'll see it later. It's not in the title.
-
I want to talk about patterns. Patterns for living as a child.
-
My mum, who's in the eighties now, used to use K's patterns to
-
make clothing when we were kids, for her and for us. I remember
-
getting these little packets from K's and inside there was some light tissue paper with
-
different shapes on depending on how big you were where your size ten, twelve,
-
whatever. I remember my mother laying out the material on the table and
-
then pinning the pattern to the material. After just cut it down to the
-
right size, and then went to the sewing machine, and then we've got
-
a garment out of that. One of my childhood members making things from patterns.
-
About this yesterday, putting this word together. You know, we all
-
have patterns in our own lives that we've learned from significant others, parents,
-
grandparents, aunts, uncles. Where's how we learned to smile or how we
-
learned to frown. Have I learned to do some things. If you meet
-
a family, sometimes when you see them and they all smile, they all
-
smile in a certain way. If you notice that, it's either how the
-
mom smiles or how the dad smiles or the grand smiles. But it's there.
-
There's always there's something there. I once once around the day Julia's health
-
for dinner, and I remember meeting Dave's sister and they both smiled about the
-
same time. I thought, oh, look, it's not very similar.
-
Their eyes lit up, a smile came up. It was right, Okay,
-
I never met david sister before, so you know, I only knew
-
Dave when I met a sister. Of the smile was there. It's like,
-
okay, So we have those sort of patterns in our lives. That's
-
just how it is. But I also have patterns when the things are challenging
-
as well. When something doesn't go quite right with a pattern kicks in,
-
whether that's a positive pattern or a negative pattern. When somebody applies some pressure
-
to us which is outside on our control, then we have a pattern.
-
That pattern can be the word of God. Says us, and I'm not
-
going to fear or that pattern can be. What am I going to do?
-
I do not know what I'm going to do about the situation, depending
-
why on what you're doing. You know, some of those patterns might not
-
align with a God's pattern that has given the master pattern to live our lives.
-
It's in the word of God. He lays it out for us in
-
the Word of God, how it should operate, how it should approach certain
-
situations and circumstances. And that's good unless we go through his school alone.
-
I don't until we go through that process of abiding, of imbibing his pattern.
-
If you like swapping and swapping our pattern for his pattern, you go
-
through the same cycle. And what the Law wants to do today was talk
-
about patterns in our lives and maybe it's going to goose you or produce.
-
So if it's him, you need to do some a doubt. If it's
-
not him, just asn't to the sermons else them. So he wants to
-
challenge us about patterns in essence or in summary. We've got some adjustments to
-
make in our lives. Some of them may be small adjustments, might be
-
big adjustments, depending on what God's going to speak about today. I don't
-
know, John says in the amplified version, the thief comes in order to
-
steal and to kill and to destroy. I came that they may have and
-
enjoy life, and have it in abundance to the full, to the overflows.
-
Jesus wants us to enjoy life. We hear for a purpose to extend
-
the Kingdom of God, but he wants us to enjoy life. He's not
-
a great advert for the Kingdom of God. Who walks around long faced,
-
head down, not living in the blessing of God, not being victorious in
-
the things of God. That's not a great advert for God. And that's
-
where God wants us to be. He wants us to enjoy life and have
-
it in abundance to the full toll. It overflows. Few full of glass
-
up and keep feeling that glass, and keep feeling that. After a while,
-
it's going to start overflow. It's going to start running on the table,
-
it's going to start under floor. It's going to make a mess.
-
Sometimes abundance is messy, but abundance is abundance, and things can get messy
-
when the abundance of God flows and God walks to what us to walk in
-
that place of abundance. I thought the name in two and that's the space
-
he wants us to occupy. However, more often than not, we can
-
allow circumstances to become hindrances, and we can take our eyes off God on
-
what the Word of God says, and focus on our circumstances. I think
-
it's Jeremiah who says, Behold, I am the Lord of God of old
-
flesh. Seven Behold, I'm the Lord of God of all flesh. Is
-
there anything too hard for me? The joke goes, yeah, but there's
-
no butts with God. Nothing is too hard for God. But it's how
-
we see it, what pattern is playing through our mind when something happens.
-
The key is how we react in the first few seconds, the first few
-
moments, that will determine the outcome. I remember story of a lady who's
-
child in hospital with many ingitis, and she got to the hospital and the
-
first thing that came out of the mouth I refuse to fear. I refuse
-
to fear about this situation. I refuse to fear about this circumstance. A
-
child was healed, and Joyce's not a nice disease. A child was healed,
-
but she chosen the first few moments to send the tone of how she's
-
going to respond. Because you've learned to pattern about what to say and what
-
not to say. But it needs to come from within. It's not thinking,
-
you know, out of the bundance the hearth, the mouth mouth speaks
-
Lot six at the abundance of the heart. If you've got rock and roll
-
and east Enders or whatever you want to watch in there rather than the word
-
of God, when you come to a circumstance of the situation, that's what's
-
going to come out. This is how it is. I have a hosepipe
-
at home which I used to wash the carriage of the garden, and I
-
left it standing for long time. So when I turned the hose on,
-
you start to spin out of this green slime. The stagnant. I tossed
-
the hose although that's I'm not going to get that clean anymore. There was
-
an old hose I got with it. But you know, if it's stagnant,
-
if you're not flowing with a living word, the whether those alive and
-
it's full of power active operty, bendigrid and effective sharpening. The two edge.
-
It sort of penetrating the divided line and sold in the spirit. Yeah,
-
if that word living word is not flowing through you, you're going to
-
stagnate with green slime stuff. So what's going to come out? I got
-
look at my notes? An't I h m hm? Yeah. We can
-
either build our house on the solid rock or can either build that house on
-
the sand. I do a lot of buildings, so I know what I
-
do. I want to build it on a solid rock. Mm hmm.
-
We need to look at the bigness of our God, not our circumstances.
-
We don't want to be defined by our circumstances. We need to be defined
-
by what the Word of God says about us. But to do that,
-
we need to know what the word of God says about us. So let's
-
just talk about particular pattern. Yeah, jump up that scripture, Yes,
-
especially amplified version of Phippians for just do not threat or have any anxiety about
-
anything anything, Do not fret. How many people have thretted that's a word
-
this week? I've got my hand a very much house. Yeah. So
-
whether God says do not threat or have any anxiety about anything, that's quite
-
definitive. Definitive, isn't it so that again, that's quite definitive. Do
-
not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in
-
everything, by prayer petition, definitely request with thanksgiving, continue to make your
-
wants known to God. That's the Apostle Paul speaking to the Philippians. It
-
is possible not to thret. It is possible not to have any anxiety about
-
anything. By prayer petition, definitely requests with thanksgiving, continue to make your
-
wants known to God. It is possible. But to go from where we
-
may be to where we need to be, we need to break the path
-
so that we don't go from that up here, down here, up here,
-
down here, up here, down here, we go like this.
-
I was only to say, and God's peace shall be yours. That tranquil
-
state of the soul issued a bit salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing
-
from God, there's a lot of us. Is that piece which transcends on
-
understandish our garrison and mount guard over your hearts and over your minds in the
-
annointedgies or in Christ Jesus. Like a lady whose child having had many ingitus.
-
When we get to a situation or a circumstance. You need to say,
-
I'd choose not to threat, I choose not to have anxiety. That's
-
your starting point. Then you've got to find yourself on the word of God.
-
Sounds very easily in the circus or something kicks off, He's not.
-
But God wants us to be in a place and a position where this happens
-
in our lives. So you think I'm not there yet, That's okay.
-
There's more. God can do a bunch above all that we ask or think
-
quite. The power that works in us, the power that works in us.
-
If you're born again, he dwells in you, He lives in you.
-
The power of God resides in you. We are earth to investments with
-
that treasure within. Yeah. Complete Jewish Bible Daniel Stearn's Bible says in terms
-
of verse six and verse seven, then God's shalo on nothing missing, nothing
-
broken. God shalom, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and
-
mind safe in union with the Messiah. Issue. So when I do things
-
God's way, not our way. When I run God's pattern, not our
-
pattern, you get his peace through every circumstance, through every situation. So
-
how do we do this? Then it's easy, right, Yeah, it's
-
my only other reference to resist. We choose to resist I learned pattern while
-
we learn God's pattern. Yeah, we choose to resist our pattern where we
-
learn God's pattern. For that me, you've got to shed loads of patterns
-
in your back pocket. They've got's got the word of God, and you
-
have a choice which pattern you've put in when something happens Romans twelve and verse
-
two. Interesting spicture. He says, do not be coming forward to this
-
world, be transformed, what is metamorphized by the renewing of your mind,
-
that you may prove what is the good and acceptable, perfect will of God.
-
Do not be conformed to this world, that be transformed by the renewing
-
of your mind. The word renewing there in the Greek is like renovating.
-
I do a lot of a lot of renovating properties of the years, we
-
do a lot of renovating. And you ripped things out, your belt,
-
walls down, there's a lot of muck, there's a lot of mess.
-
You come out black with the soot or the filthy recod property. And that's
-
how it works. But after a while they clear that muck out and then
-
you do your first fixing, your second fix wiring and plumbing, that sort
-
of stuff. Then you do you put your plaster from the world and your
-
paint in the world. I look something nice after a while, and then
-
go live in it. But you go through there's a period of renovation.
-
Renovation doesn't start on the Monday and finish on a Tuesday. Renovation is a
-
big job, and God wants us to renovate our minds with the Word of
-
God. Like I said before, the word God is alive and it's full
-
of power. It's active, optic, energize and effective. It's got power.
-
So we need to take that power and use it to renovate our minds.
-
We need to learn His pattern rather that pattern. It sounds simple,
-
and the theory is simple practice quality decision. Then to take time in the
-
Word of God to change our way of thinking the Holy Spirit, to strip
-
out our pattern and put in His pattern. Doesn't happen all at once,
-
perhaps over a period of time. It's a lady called Caroline Leaf. She
-
wrote a book called Switch on Your Brain. It's an interesting read, but
-
in essence what she says it takes around twenty one days to change a pattern
-
twenty one days around twenty one days. So with the Holy Spirit's help spending
-
time in the Word of God, we can change a pattern in twenty one
-
days, putting it to the diligence in the Word of God, to get
-
the Word of God in our ears, in our mouth and meditate on him.
-
It's not when people go in the diet, those a few pounds and
-
that one day two and then they see Chris Matween, don't they go Chris
-
beppeen, don't Oh yeah, but you're only on day two of the diet.
-
It's like, you know, it's not going to help with it unless
-
one of those people like a pin and you don't do they diets, you
-
know, but make spins with the kid to watch My mum do various diets
-
and we get to where she gets who want to be obviously, so it's
-
okay, she gets who want to be and then she go back to a
-
normal diet. So we over the other years, I just saw this thing
-
going. We need to be consistent. My mom was consistent. She would
-
cuss on fish and during the diet. After diet, she went back to
-
normal, so she she lost what she wanted and went back again. We
-
can't do that. We need to be consistently consistent doing the same thing in
-
the word of God. How can't you exercise? Definitely a bit of exercise.
-
You don't start on day one. I got, oh, but I'm
-
aching a bit now. I'll give you a rest because you also go through
-
a process of aching a bit. When you do something I've done before,
-
you've got to give it three or four weeks. She started baking. Once
-
I met a guy in the gym and he was about six foot tall,
-
and he was about twice my width. And he said to me, I've
-
lost the stone in a month. I've lost the stone. Just come into
-
the gym. And I thought, wow, because I couldn't tell you lost
-
the stone because of a big guy. But he was very pleased, and
-
I was pleased. I lost the tone. Wow, I just come into
-
the gym a month, I've lost the stone. He persevered and lost the
-
stone. That's you know, that's I'm seen it since. But you know,
-
but you know, he lost a stone by persevering for a month.
-
I said that to say this, if we persevere in the word of God,
-
if we remain in the word of God. If we've made it on
-
the word of God, we'll change that pattern. But it takes time to
-
change the pattern. And once you change the pattern, you've got to maintain
-
that pattern. That means more word of God, more word of God.
-
So when when that circumstances, that situation which might kick off anxiety for your
-
worry doubt, for example, he doesn't move you when you see that Christopher
-
Kreme doughnut and your four weeks into your diet, think I don't need that.
-
That's just processed sugar. That's not doing any good. I'll go home
-
and met my own stuff with all this nice stuff and it will be all
-
healthy and it will taste just just just good whatever. To get my drift
-
anyway, Joshua one verse eight says, this book of the Law shall not
-
depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night,
-
that you may observe to do according to that was written in it. But
-
then you will make your way prosperous and they have good success. This book
-
of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth. You shall meditate.
-
I think the meditate is actually mutter in there Hebrew day and nights hardcore that
-
you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. When
-
you know that, you know that, you know that, you know that,
-
you know that, you know the word of God. You know the
-
word of God. But then you will make your way prosperous, and then
-
you have got a success. That's what God said to Joshua when Moses died
-
and he had to take on the four million Israelites to get him into the
-
Promised Land, who were full of Egypt. So had the pattern of Egypt
-
when in their lives to got force. Hears you had that pattern out of
-
them and a number of generations to do so. But he did it.
-
So where do you want to be with this? That's give us a challenge
-
this morning around this pattern business. Everyone can run their own pattern. Everyone
-
can run their own pattern was saying for those who commit to change the pattern
-
today, It'll help you with that, all right. There's no pressure about
-
that, just in case what you choose to do. Life is a series
-
of choices, simple as that. So God will help you today if you
-
want to commit to change the pattern, the will work with you to do
-
that. Not the work of the man, and put the work of the
-
list prayer, but it's down to you to do me. I've got my
-
own patents to change. H oh, I've got enough. I might play,
-
but if you want to commit, He'll work with you. M M.
-
Let me pray. I think I'll wrap it up here now. I
-
don't think you want to say anything else. I'm looked at the notes much.
-
Then again, Yah, welcome allergy as well. Welcome you well for
-
those people listening in this room, those people listening online now and people listening
-
later. I want to change a pattern. I want to do some different.
-
I want to and buy your pattern. I want to run your pattern
-
in their lives. Father, pray for those people now. He told me
-
you're help them. So everyone who's reaching out to you in their hearts now,
-
are they in here, now, at home or later? I should
-
help them run to break the pattern and run your pattern in their lives over
-
the area situation that it's a pattern which needs to be broken and change that.
-
I started to help them go from where they are now to where you
-
want them to be. They will help me like a big jump. It
-
will be step by step, but each step will be America. So I
-
believe that Jesus now and received the answer to those prayers. Learn in Jesus
-
then hyah, thank you, Simon, real clear challenge this this morning.
-
We're going to allow God to settle in our hearts and press in and as
-
we can, just allow that to settle in our spirits. So let me
-
pray, and then we're going to kind of go back to worship. We've
-
got some other stuff to
