  1. It's great to be in church. Just before I get

  2. into the words, let me do something here of the

  3. microphone on the floor. That was not what we planned.

  4. One of the things. We're a growing church. New people

  5. are visiting us every week, nearly every week, and people

  6. are wanting to call us home. And what we want

  7. to do is on a regular basis, as we plug

  8. people into church.

  9. You want to recognize that so.

  10. Arash ash Aris is now wanting to call us home.

  11. So Arish, we want to welcome you into church. Great.

  12. And what that means now is this morning he got

  13. some emails from the church giving him access to the

  14. study systems and you know, various other tools that we

  15. provide us church. And let me take this as a

  16. moment to remind you that we.

  17. As church invest in stuff. There is plenty.

  18. If you have an evening wasting, I don't I don't

  19. know what I want to watch tonight. I don't want

  20. to watch the I want to watch something to encourage me.

  21. There's millions of hours available to you as a member

  22. of church. You're going watch stories, testimonies, Bible teaching. It's

  23. all available there. If you don't know, you should have

  24. got an email saying welcome to join it. If you

  25. haven't joined it, then speak to me, especially as we're

  26. having a picnic today and we'll explore how to make

  27. that happen.

  28. We're studying this this month. Good neighbors, and do.

  29. You know something I want to say to you is

  30. the best neighbor that you can be is to be

  31. a follower of Christ. I'll say that again, the best

  32. neighbor that you can be is to be a follower

  33. of Christ. Because wouldn't you like God as your neighbor?

  34. Would you?

  35. Well, we kind of think yes, But to be honest,

  36. I'd be going yes.

  37. But and I'm going yes.

  38. But because I'm thinking okay, he can look over the

  39. fence and see what I'm doing. He can see whether

  40. what I say is what I do. He can see

  41. whether I keep my garden well, and he can see

  42. whether it's looking through my windows, whether I keep my

  43. house well. But the reality is he knows that anyway.

  44. So I want to ask us the question this morning

  45. about neighbors, and that's to whom should I go? Whom

  46. should I go? Jesus said in John chapter thirteen, Verses

  47. thirty four and thirty five, a new commandment I give

  48. to you that you love one another as I have

  49. loved you, that you also love one another. By this,

  50. all will know that you are my disciples. If you

  51. have love for one another? What does God say? What

  52. did Jesus say? He said that by your love you

  53. will be known. I wonder what our reputation is. I

  54. wonder what your reputation. I wonder what my reputation is.

  55. I remember once visiting John, who I've mentioned him before

  56. now Big John.

  57. He used to call him God's taxi.

  58. Driver, and he used to any time I needed someone

  59. to be picked up at the airport, any time of

  60. day or night, he would do it for me. There

  61. was one time he actually went. We were not in

  62. the house, and he went and picked somebody up at

  63. the airport, took them to our house, let them in, showed.

  64. Them their room, and then went home.

  65. And anyway, I was visiting John, and I said I'd

  66. be round about I think eleven o'clock in the morning,

  67. just for coffee, just to visit. And like you, I

  68. like to be busy. I'd probably do too many things. Anyway,

  69. I turned up late. I knocked on the door. I said,

  70. I'm sorry, I'm late. John, and this is the ouch moment.

  71. He said, Oh, well, that's what we expect from you, Dave.

  72. I'm gonna say my first response was, oh no, but

  73. I was busy. I was doing something. And then I thought, okay,

  74. he's got used to me turning up late. That cannot

  75. be good. Okay, it happens from time to time, but

  76. when it happens nearly every time, and so people it's

  77. light with chur church starting late. I want us to

  78. start on time. I want us to start on time,

  79. not because we're a stickler and we're religious, because as

  80. soon as we kind of start maybe five past ten

  81. past ten, people say, oh, I'll turn up at five

  82. past because church hasn't started yet. I once went to

  83. a church in South London. I turned up at I

  84. was told that pre prayer would start at ten thirty.

  85. The service would be at eleven.

  86. So I thought, as a guest speaker, if I turned

  87. up about twenty two, that would be about right. I

  88. turned up. Door wasn't even open. I knocked on the door,

  89. nothing and then somebody came up, so I'm sorry, we're

  90. just opening up, and they were just opening up and

  91. pre prayer started about ten past eleven and the service

  92. started nearly half past eleven. I think we can get

  93. into bad habits sometimes. So what kind of neighbor are

  94. you and I? That we will be no by our love?

  95. You know, there is a journey as a disciple. As

  96. a disciple, first thing we can do is become a Christian,

  97. put our trust in Christ, declare Him as our savior.

  98. Most of us have done that. But you know, there's

  99. a journey beyond being a Christian. There's a journey beyond

  100. just coming to Christ. That is not the end. It's

  101. not oh, I'm a Christian. Now, everything's okay, Everything is okay.

  102. But there's a journey, and there's a journey for us

  103. to be baptized, to declare, to show, to proclaim that

  104. we have you know, our old life has died and

  105. our new life will come. We've got some baptismal candidates

  106. who are coming forward to be baptized. It's a symbol,

  107. it's a sign, it's a moment. It's a moment in history.

  108. You can put in your diary and say this was

  109. the day that I was baptized. Let me ask you

  110. a question, because I think it ought to be somewhere

  111. in our memory when were you baptized, and I'm not

  112. going to ask I'm just asked asking that question because

  113. some of us will go, well, I remember the moment

  114. Julia and I were baptized in the sea. I remember

  115. it was in the sea. I remember where it was.

  116. But if you ask me specifically the day, I'd have

  117. to dig out some diaries. I know roughly when it was,

  118. but maybe I need to remind myself. You know, we

  119. know our date of birth, but do we know our

  120. date of rebirth when we became a Christian? Do we

  121. know our date when we were baptized? Jesus said, I'm

  122. leaving you now. He said this to his disciples, I'm

  123. leaving you now. But God is going to send a

  124. comforter and an empower. So do not be afraid. We

  125. need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

  126. Do you know what? I run out of my own

  127. energy on a regular basis.

  128. Jully will tell you sometimes I'll fall asleep in front

  129. of the television when I snorch it. Oh, but you know,

  130. we do run out of energy. But when God enables us,

  131. when God empowers us, we can run on empty because

  132. He's filling our tank. He's enabling and so we need

  133. to be filled with the spirit. I said, okay, we

  134. know our date of birth? Do we know our data rebirth?

  135. And then Debbie talked about being parents and then being grandparents.

  136. Do you know there's a spiritual dimension to that. You

  137. know we actually spiritual parents. Is someone you've led to Christ,

  138. someone you've asked the question said, do you need Jesus?

  139. Do you know him? Is he your savior? That's the

  140. beginning of making new disciples, asking the question. Are you

  141. saying do.

  142. You know where you will go if you die today?

  143. But it doesn't just end with asking the question, because

  144. it says about making disciples. We read in Matthew twenty

  145. eight birth nineteen and twenty you'll know this, you'll know

  146. it very well. Go therefore and make and make disciples

  147. of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of

  148. the Father and of the Son of the Holy Spirit,

  149. teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.

  150. And lo I am with you always, even to the

  151. ends of the age. I want you to notice it

  152. does not say go everywhere. It says go anywhere, says

  153. go to all the nations. But that's not our job

  154. to go to every nation. There's two hundred and forty

  155. something nations in the world.

  156. I believe God is.

  157. Not calling us individually to go to every nation, but

  158. he is calling the church to go to every nation,

  159. but our nation, our ethnic group. Because if we translate

  160. that that go to all nations, all ethny groups, one

  161. of your ethnic groups will be your neighbors. There'll be

  162. the people you hang out some of you will have

  163. groups on. There will be places you hang out online, Facebook, YouTube,

  164. those kinds of things. Others will use Instagram that there's

  165. groups we hang out with and we have influence, and

  166. we have a place of influence, we have a place

  167. to say something. I wonder what your reputation is on

  168. your social media now. I have a foot on most

  169. of my slides that I use whenever I teach almost anywhere,

  170. and it says this, and I'm talking about in the

  171. business world. Then my last slide that has my phone

  172. number on at the bottom says, please ask me because

  173. if I can't help you, I know someone who can.

  174. And that's not just a natural statement, that's a supernatural statement.

  175. Because sometimes people come to me and say, Dave, I

  176. need a job, can you help me? And I'll go

  177. in the natural. No, but I will pray. I will

  178. pray go there into all nations. So what is our reputation?

  179. Are we going to go and share with our neighbors?

  180. Last week I challenged you and said have you talked

  181. to your neighbors? We had the challenge of the suites

  182. and Debbie's going to ask in a moment later on,

  183. have you given away your sweet because today's a day

  184. are sweet exchange. Our journey at RCF is this people

  185. call us home like Arash and other people do. We're

  186. going to see more and more people calling us home.

  187. Do you know what?

  188. We're in the summer season where people are way and

  189. on holiday. When we get to the beginning of September,

  190. this place will be full. Now, it's exactly the reason

  191. why we're investing and getting ready to find somewhere else

  192. to go to. On a Sunday, Jonathan's wrestling with technology

  193. this week because we've had the ability to invest in

  194. some other technology. The last piece of technology we will

  195. need to be portable and go somewhere else is now

  196. on order.

  197. So we're freeing ourselves up.

  198. When you transplant to plant, the first thing you have

  199. to do is loosen up the roots. Now we're not

  200. going to stay here on Sundays. We won't fit here

  201. on Sundays, and so we've got to get ourselves ready

  202. to be planted somewhere else. Not that we're changing anything else.

  203. What we will be being church and our journey as

  204. part of our CF is firstly for people to call

  205. us home.

  206. For encouraging people to pray.

  207. And pray. There are plenty of opportunities to pray in

  208. the church. There's a pre prayer The room was nearly

  209. fall this morning as I went in there, and you

  210. know there'll be We'll have to grow the pre prayer room.

  211. We'll have to create God, you need to create some

  212. elastic walls for pre prayer. And I'm expecting miracles to

  213. happen in pre prayer.

  214. Why not.

  215. We don't have to just have to be in church.

  216. It could happen in your home. We pray before church,

  217. we pray in church. We pray on Fridays, online and

  218. face to face. We have a day of prayer and

  219. fasting at least once every month, and as the leaders

  220. also another day of prayer and fast things. There's plenty

  221. of opportunity to pray. But please do not think that

  222. it's Captain Jesus says, go and pray, And so I

  223. want to encourage you pray with your neighbors. Offer it

  224. if you see your neighbor limping up their path one day. So, oh,

  225. that looks a bit painful. I just want to encourage

  226. you with some simple suggestions. Here, Oh, that looks a

  227. bit painful. Did something happen? And the'll of course tell

  228. you exactly what's going on. And here's the moment they've

  229. just told you their need. Just jump in there and say,

  230. do you know what I'd happily pray for that?

  231. If you want me to. Now.

  232. You may not have a PhD in prayer, it really

  233. does not matter. It really does not matter. All God

  234. is asking is our availability. We've asked the question, how

  235. are you? That looks sore? Your neighbor tells you, so, do.

  236. You know what I believe? In prayer?

  237. I'm going to ask if you would like me to

  238. pray it? And they probably think, go away and pray.

  239. Please. Okay, if you want to go away and pray, yes,

  240. but please pray with them as you feel come.

  241. Even if your simple prayer is Lord, my neighbor has

  242. a need right now they've hurt their leg, Lord, would

  243. you heal them in Jesus' name? Doesn't have to be

  244. more complicated than that. You want to pray a bit more, fine,

  245. but don't make it twenty minutes because it's just a

  246. simple prayer. We're just asking God to do what he's

  247. best at So church, God calls, we call arsif home,

  248. we pray, we give. That's what the offerings about. And

  249. one of the things I felt really challenged over the

  250. last probably a few months now is I think we

  251. need to get better at giving. And I'm not talking

  252. about the amounts. I'm talking about what goes in here. No,

  253. are you excited when you give someone a present? If

  254. you've thought somebody's birthday, you've thought about what you're going

  255. to buy them, you've shopped around, you've chosen something very specific,

  256. you've wrapped it up, and you give it to them.

  257. You're as excited as the person who's opening it because

  258. you're thinking, well, they like it, they like it, and

  259. then you get excited together. Do you know what I

  260. feel the same about giving to God. We need to

  261. get excited about giving to God because we're giving into

  262. His kingdom, we're giving out of faithfulness, we're giving out

  263. of a response to his call, and then finally a

  264. place to serve. And I want to be really ouched

  265. today and just say, do you know what? Each of

  266. us needs to find a place to serve what we

  267. do here because there's so much, you know, there are

  268. so many jobs to do, and some of them we like,

  269. some of them you're good at, and others people are

  270. standing in the gap for a moment. And please, just

  271. because someone's already doing it, don't volunt not volunteer just

  272. because Jonathan seems to be the king of technology at

  273. the moment, if somebody came up to him, somebody knew

  274. came and joined the jest, do you know what? I

  275. love technology? I'd love to help you. He'd be going hallelujah,

  276. wouldn't you?

  277. Jonathan? Absolutely? Do you know what?

  278. Let's find a place to serve as we journey together. Now,

  279. Jesus was asked by Jesus said to the disciples.

  280. What are we going to do? Where are we going

  281. to go?

  282. And in John chapter six, verses sixty seven to sixty nine,

  283. it says this, Then Jesus said to the twelve do

  284. you also want to go away? But Simon Peter answered

  285. him and said, Lord, to whom shall we go? You

  286. have the words of eternal life. Also we have come

  287. to believe and know that you are the Christ, the

  288. son of the Living God, to whom shall we go.

  289. I think one of the places God starts is by saying,

  290. talk to your neighbors. Talk your neighbors and let them

  291. know what you know. That Jesus Christ is Law's And

  292. so I want to make a quick journey, a very

  293. quick journey here with four steps. And the four steps

  294. are number one, to be available. I think that God

  295. calls us to be available. And we've been talking a

  296. lot about making room, probably for the last eighteen months now.

  297. And making room starts in our heads. It starts in

  298. our hearts, it starts in our diaries, it starts in

  299. our credit cards, it starts in our bank accounts. It

  300. starts in lots of ways. But we make room by

  301. making some choices. Now I'd been made this week. I've

  302. been making some choices to try and get rid of

  303. some rubbish. Let me give you a simple little example.

  304. I'm unsubscribing from things. How many things do I open

  305. and think, oh, that's it's not really interesting. I've just

  306. wasted ten seconds. I don't need to do that. I

  307. just need to unsubscribe. It was useful once, it's not

  308. useful anymore. I'm just unsubscribing. You might call it a

  309. health chack or a life cleanse. But I want to

  310. be more available, so I have to get rid of

  311. some stuff. I have to prioritize differently. So God wants

  312. us to be available, He also wants us to be

  313. part of the solution. You know, sometimes we can come

  314. along and say, yeah, I can see there's something here

  315. that needs doing, and I'm available, Lord, but not to

  316. do that.

  317. Can you bring someone to come and do this?

  318. You know, I think there's a place where we can

  319. be part of the solution, and so we say, Lord,

  320. show us the need. Now, some of us get overwhelmed

  321. by need. Do you know what if we ask.

  322. God to show us the need.

  323. If we see the need, then that should drive us

  324. to prayer because we will run out of ourselves.

  325. We had a few weeks ago about finances.

  326. We need finances to be able to make a move

  327. to a bigger place in one sense, to move somewhere

  328. on Sundays. We can't afford not to. We can't afford to.

  329. We're in that place of faith. That's a great place

  330. to be. Now, we've had some problems with our broadband

  331. over the last couple of weeks, probably the last month,

  332. and they said to us this week, okay, the broadband sorted. Now, okay,

  333. they're now talking about compensating us, you know.

  334. And it's it's going to be it's going to be

  335. a significant number. I said. It's already provided some of

  336. that gap.

  337. So we're all thinking this is about giving, and God's

  338. found another way to give back into the inter kingdom purposes.

  339. And I'm believing that, you know, there could be one

  340. thousand pounds worth of benefit that comes.

  341. Our way God's provision. So we can see the need,

  342. and then we need to pray about the gap.

  343. That's a great place to be between we can't afford

  344. to and we can't afford not to. That's a place

  345. of faith, and the gap gets closed by prayer as.

  346. God answers and provides. In one p.

  347. Four, as I kind of draw things to a close,

  348. it says this, and above all things, have fervent love

  349. for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins.

  350. Be hospitable to.

  351. One another without grumbling, and each has received a gift

  352. to minister it to one another as good stewards of

  353. the manifold grace of God.

  354. Do you know what you are?

  355. A gift? You have gifts, and you are a gift.

  356. Some of you are good at things and we didn't

  357. even know it. We still don't know some of its secrets.

  358. Who knew that Colleen, who bakes a beautiful cake for

  359. our thirty year celebration could cook cakes like that?

  360. Anybody have any ideas?

  361. No?

  362. And then she brings this beautiful cake. Thank you, Colleen.

  363. We're praying peace upon you as you watch us today,

  364. and we would not have known. You know what, if

  365. I want another cake once babies arrived and everything's back

  366. to normal, whatever that means for parents, I'm going to

  367. be saying, can you bake another cake? Good gifts, good stewards?

  368. To Whom should I go? I should go to my neighbor?

  369. Whom should I be the best Christian that I should be?

  370. How should I do it? With God's help? Let me pray, Father, God,

  371. thank you, thank you so much for all that you've done,

  372. all that you're doing. Father, Help us to do more,

  373. help us to be who You've called us to be Father.

  374. Let your light shine in dark places. Let your wisdom

  375. flow in us.

  376. And through us.

  377. Father, we pray for your provision on areas where there

  378. are gaps, where there is a place where we do

  379. not see your hand at work. Father, open our eyes

  380. to see the flame burning brighter. Let light drive back

  381. darkness in Jesus' name, Way Amen,
