  1. M hm hm okay yah mm hmmm mm hmmm. Yes

  2. it's not that mhm h kah. Good morning.

  3. So we're going to continue the series about good neighbors.

  4. Oh and uh we're gonna let's started out. This serm

  5. is called from Jerusalem to Jericho. So before we start

  6. the preach, I just pray and then we'll sell the

  7. hoestpil wants to do. Okay, So Holytpook, were welcome with

  8. this one. Please rest on individual person in this room

  9. and those people listening online.

  10. I take there was orning to speak and use them

  11. to your goal, to your end.

  12. To touch people's hearts and change people's lives in Jesus' name.

  13. So from Jerusalem to Jericho. So from Jerusalem to Jericho

  14. it is about eight eighty miles and it's a drop

  15. in the elevation.

  16. I'll drop in height of about two hundred and fifty meters.

  17. The road now as it was then, there's a path

  18. which actually a couple of traffic if you were tracked

  19. through a video and put on YouTube is it's a

  20. barren place and it's a narrow, narrow road. It reminds

  21. me of when and I went to Jordan about fifteen

  22. years ago, we went to a place called Petra, and

  23. we're walking around Petra and it's very rocky, dry, arid place.

  24. There's not a lot of vegetation, and it's very hot.

  25. Forty two degrees was far too hot for me. I

  26. got two black toe That was because my feet swelled

  27. in my walking shoes.

  28. And then you must that's the temperature.

  29. And you know, Jesus wrote told the Samaritan to convey

  30. a message. So I'm going to use that parallel todayday

  31. to convey a message. He spoke to a young lawyer.

  32. I told the power of the man who was robbed

  33. and beaten. At the end of the power, he said

  34. to the young lawyer, who you h But basically.

  35. And the last said to him that the man who

  36. showed mercy.

  37. So, without further further Ado, let's jump into the scripture.

  38. I'm going to read at my pace, but I think

  39. John's going to pull on the screen so you might.

  40. Read more quicker than I'm going to read.

  41. So I'm reading from Luke ten twenty five to thirty seven.

  42. Actually, I'll do this.

  43. Way, okay, John, on my own screen. I feel privileged

  44. and behold a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, teacher,

  45. watch I do to inherit eternal life. And he said

  46. to him, what is written in the law, what is

  47. your reading of it? So he answered and said, you

  48. shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,

  49. with all your soul, and with all your strength, and

  50. with all your.

  51. Mind, and your neighbor as yourself.

  52. And he said to him, you've answered rightly this too,

  53. and you will live. But he, wanting to justify himself,

  54. said to Jesus, and who is my neighbor? And Jesus said, answered,

  55. and said, a certain man went down from Jerusalem to

  56. Jericho and fell among thieves who stripped him of his clothing,

  57. who wounded him and departed, leaving.

  58. Him half dead. Likewise, a levite, when he arrived at

  59. the place, came and looked, and passed by on the

  60. other side. What about the priest by a miss and

  61. script writer, thank you now.

  62. Now, by a chance, a certain priest came down that road,

  63. and when he saw him, he passed on.

  64. The other side. Life was a leaver when he arrived

  65. at that place, came and looked and passed by on

  66. the other side. That's right.

  67. But a certain smiting, as he journeyed, came where he was,

  68. and when he saw him, he had compassion.

  69. So he went to him and banded his wounds, poured

  70. on and wine, and set him on his own animal,

  71. and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

  72. On the next day when he.

  73. Departed, he took out tod An area, which is about

  74. two days, laid a wager for a labor back in

  75. the day, and said to the innkeeper, innkeeper, take care

  76. of him, and whatever more you spend, I will come

  77. again and I will repay him. So which of these

  78. three do you think was neighbor who fell among leaves?

  79. And he said he who showed mercy on him, And

  80. Jesus said go and do.

  81. Likewise, Thanks John.

  82. Now the road runs strong Jerusalem to Jericho, so you're

  83. going downhill basically to Jericho to Jerusalem. It's interesting that

  84. the priest came down from Jerusalem, so he'd done his

  85. service in the temple of going home.

  86. And likewise, the Levi and the amplified bable said he

  87. came down with the NW King.

  88. Javins didn't say that, but very likely he came down

  89. as well. So they were leaving their time of service

  90. and coming down to go home. So it was coming

  91. down to go home. You could have actually stopped and

  92. helped out the guy who was.

  93. Beaten and left half naked, but he didn't. Neither one did.

  94. That's probably because it says in numbers nineteen eleven to thirteen,

  95. he touches a dead body is unclean for seven days,

  96. beefself with water, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So

  97. they chose to stick with a summer ceremonially clean peace

  98. and say.

  99. And left the guy to die. The Smaritan under the

  100. hand bandages his wounds.

  101. The pourding oil falls out like healing and wine to

  102. actually cleanse the wounds. The general room so poureding oil

  103. and wine and toil this land on his own. I

  104. guess mule asks where we had that back in the day,

  105. so that wasn't the car, and paid for him and

  106. tended to him. Jesus important this thing was trying to

  107. get over to the guy who is your neighbor.

  108. And God's gone to get up to us. He is

  109. who is our neighbor. We're also two remind.

  110. Us that he's here to meet us at the point

  111. of our need.

  112. A Samaritan man met the guy had been beaten at

  113. the point of his need. He cleaned him up, he

  114. fed him, he looked after him. The Smaritans and Jews

  115. didn't mix.

  116. Samaritans were half gentile half jew but in Samaria did

  117. their own thing. Works worked in Samaria. The Jews didn't

  118. like the Smaritans didn't get on. So Jesus using this

  119. type person shows the fact that we have the religious guys,

  120. the Levite and the priests, who should do what's necessary.

  121. But the Samaritan, the guy who know they liked to

  122. blame him and love to hate if like they didn't.

  123. He wasn't, He wasn't.

  124. Try to think a Monde equivalent, but I can't think

  125. some of his on drugs a drug pusher. He did

  126. the right thing. Jesus wants us to do the right thing.

  127. Jesus is full of compassion.

  128. That's what he is. That's why the bottle says, for

  129. God so loved the world that he gave He's only

  130. begotten son that ever believed in him shall.

  131. Not perish, but have everlasting life. That's just the way

  132. he does things, That's just just his character. He does

  133. it his way, not our, And sometimes you just can

  134. move us with compassion, such people to miss the people's needs.

  135. I remember Dave telling the story so in my embarrasship

  136. for me when David was into town, into London.

  137. For work and he was walking through London and he

  138. saw a guy begging on the side of the street,

  139. put his head down to Dave being Dave, obviously, when

  140. I sat down next to him and start the chatting

  141. two and remember day of saying that there's a different

  142. perspective when you're sitting down on the phone looking up

  143. with the handle. I think they give him some money.

  144. Had to chat with him and then he departed. Dave

  145. was moving with compassion. Who knows what that seed that

  146. was sown will bring a harvest plater or we do

  147. know to sew seeds.

  148. So like the person Themitan who walked down that rocky road,

  149. God wants us to be a good neighbor to those people.

  150. It puts on our hearts. We all can't touch everybody,

  151. but one by one, one life at the time, we

  152. can make a difference. Yah. Just look at my notes

  153. took got on the wrong way around.

  154. I'm going to read from John for now, so I

  155. when to tie these these these two things together. John

  156. four is the account of Jesus leaving Jerusalem and I'm

  157. going to Samaria.

  158. Or the fire samarit's way to his destination back to Gallaghan.

  159. I know Jesus only did what he saw his father

  160. doing John five nineteen, And he only said what he

  161. heard his father say. And you know that's that's the

  162. place we need to get to.

  163. Sometimes are full of our own words and full of

  164. our own ideas because we have a.

  165. Mental map that we've learned.

  166. I'm nothing wrong with having a mental map when to

  167. get lost here, But sometimes a holst bit may make

  168. an intervention and say, that's true, but this is a

  169. what I wanted to do. So we need to be

  170. always listening, always ready. When you're a young mother and

  171. you've got a baby next to you in the car

  172. at the bottom of the bed, you listen very intently

  173. to that baby. When you first get that baby home,

  174. you listen very intent to that baby. When they get older,

  175. this is very intent when they come into the house

  176. and you say, well why do you come to the

  177. house just late?

  178. Oh mum, you listen. We need to listen to what

  179. the holyt Birit is saying so.

  180. We don't miss the opportun humanity that is in front

  181. of us. Opportunities come, opportunities, go one John one night

  182. that if you confess your sins, it's faithful and just

  183. to forgive your say.

  184. And cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Yeah, that's that's a fact,

  185. faith fact. But if you draw, if you make a mistake,

  186. God will forgive us.

  187. Yeah, but it's better to hear, not to fall into

  188. condemnation and do what comes in front of us at

  189. the time.

  190. It's our body, but it's his life. The life I

  191. live in aff I live by faithless and the God

  192. who loved me and getting himself for me. Yeah, it's

  193. not in the scriptures me mhmm, No one knows. It's

  194. his life. It's not body. You must to pour the

  195. life out of those to those people around us because

  196. we carry something other people don't carry. We carry that

  197. zobe life of God's life. One work from God can

  198. change somebody's life forever. One kind act from us, save

  199. reference the Bible, giving can change some of his life.

  200. So those encouragingness to be good neighbors, to be listening

  201. as we walked down the street.

  202. Or walk around our office. People have a mask.

  203. It's the imok mask they don't have, hopefully be around

  204. to go. I'm filling a rough mask as so as

  205. the IOK mask. But God can see through that, and

  206. you can be an agent for change in that person's life,

  207. to take him from where they are where they are

  208. to where don't want them to be. And that's what

  209. Jesus really did in John fam Let's just read that scripture.

  210. So we came to a city of Samaria, which is

  211. called Psycha, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave

  212. to his son Joseph.

  213. Jacob's well was there.

  214. Jesus, therefore, being wearied from his journey, sat thus.

  215. By the well.

  216. It was about the six hour, that's that's midday in

  217. our world. A woman of Samaria came to draw water.

  218. She said to her, Jesus said to her, give me

  219. a drink with disciples. I'd gone away from the city

  220. to buy food. The woman of Samaria said to him,

  221. how is it that you, being a Jew, asked a

  222. drink from me, a Samaritan woman, For though I know

  223. for the Jews have no deemings with the Samaritans. Jesus

  224. answered and said to her, if you knew the gift

  225. of God and who it is who saves to you

  226. give me a drink? Who had asked him, and he

  227. had given you a living water? No one said to him, sir,

  228. you've nothing to draw with, and the well is deep.

  229. Where then do you get in that living water? Are

  230. you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us as

  231. well and drank for it himself, as well as his

  232. sons and his livestock. Jesus answered and said to her,

  233. whoever drinks of this water were first?

  234. Again?

  235. The herd drinks of the water that I shall give

  236. him will never first. But the water that I shall

  237. give him shall become in him a fountain of water

  238. springing up into everlasting life.

  239. Woman said to him, Sir, give me this water. I

  240. am I not first, nor come here to draw.

  241. Jesus said to her, go call your husband and come.

  242. Woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said

  243. to her, you have well said I have no husband

  244. for you about five husbands, and the one with whom

  245. you now have is not your husband.

  246. In that you've spoken truly.

  247. Woman said to him, Sir, I perceive you are a

  248. prophet our father's workships on this mountain, and you Jews

  249. said that injured in.

  250. This place where we ought to worship. Jesus said to.

  251. Her, woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you

  252. will near the worship on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem

  253. worship the Father. You worship what you do not know.

  254. We worship what we know, for salvation is of the Jews.

  255. But the hour is coming, and now is when the

  256. true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

  257. But the Father is seeking such to worship him. God

  258. is a spirit, and those who worship Hi must worshiping

  259. in spirit and in truth.

  260. The woman said to him, I know Messiah. It's called

  261. the Christ is coming. When he comes, he will tell

  262. us all things. Jesus said to her, I who speak

  263. to you am He. At this point disciples came back

  264. and then marveled.

  265. They talked to a woman. No one said anything, what

  266. do you seek or what you want to talk to her?

  267. For the one left her water pot and went into

  268. the city and said to the men, come and see

  269. a man who told.

  270. Me all things, all the things I ever did?

  271. Could this be the Christ? And they went out of

  272. the city and came to him. In the meantime, Disciple

  273. was urging Rabbi eat. He said to them, I have

  274. food to eat, which you do not know. Therefore disciples

  275. said to another, having brought in food, having brought anything

  276. to eat, and Jesus said, my food is to do

  277. the will have him her sent me, and to finish

  278. this work. You do not say, do not say, that's

  279. still four months and then comes the harvest. Behold, I

  280. say to you, lift up your eyes and look at

  281. the fields.

  282. They are already white. And he who reaps receives wages

  283. and gathers fruit for eternal life. That both he who

  284. sows and hugh reaps may rejoice. But this is the same.

  285. For they're saying, it's true one reaps or reaps. I

  286. sent you to reap about which you have not labored,

  287. or let us have labored and invented into their labors.

  288. And many other smitans. So that's city believe in him

  289. because of his word. The one that said, he told

  290. me all that I ever did. So when he decides

  291. that come to him, the hes him to stay, and

  292. he stay on them for two days. And the more

  293. believe in his word. Then they said to the woman,

  294. now we believe not because of what you said. We

  295. ourselves have heard him and we know this is indeed

  296. the christ long scripture reading, but it's pertinent, so hopeing

  297. it not offer them them.

  298. So Jesus traveled through some area he had an appointment.

  299. We all have appointments of destiny. We've got to be

  300. in the right place at the right time. Jesus didn't

  301. have a watch, he didn't have a PDA. You have

  302. a smartphone. It up with a diary. It was always

  303. in the right place at the right time.

  304. Because he heard, always heard, and always saw. I always

  305. did what he heard and saw his father doing. He

  306. walked in the river miracles because that sort of guy

  307. he is, and that's what he wants us to do,

  308. to be in the right place at the right time.

  309. So when the woman.

  310. That five husbands I was dipping another giant gent wasn't

  311. her husband ropped up to the well at midday because

  312. very likely she was a bit of an outcast with

  313. the female community in that town. He was to have

  314. a conversation with her, and Jesus being Jesus used what

  315. was in front of him, give me a drink while

  316. you speaking to me.

  317. I told you about the Jews and the writers not talking.

  318. So he's crossing cultural barriers here, he's doing the taboo things.

  319. He's talking to the sinners. He's telling people who shouldn't

  320. be speaking to being a rabbi. But Jesus only did

  321. and said what.

  322. He saw and heard his father doing. So he was

  323. on firm ground.

  324. And sometimes we have to do something which is unconventional

  325. and might be uncomfortable. But as long as you've heard

  326. the only spirit and you know it's not flak I

  327. have had too much cheese in the night before or

  328. whatever you though, it's not flak.

  329. A, you can do something and God will move.

  330. That's how Jesus drow you in through give me a drink.

  331. I said, I'm going to give you some living water.

  332. And she thought, oh that's to come anymore. That's great,

  333. give me some water. But she was talking about earthly things.

  334. He was talking about heavenly things.

  335. You know, God is a spirit. We are spirit, but

  336. we live in this body.

  337. Must learn not to confuse things of the spirit and

  338. things of the flesh. Must know the difference. He draws

  339. this woman in. God gave him a question, go call

  340. your husband. Did Jesus know the answer to the question

  341. or just following the Holy Spirit? Sometimes just step out

  342. and say something to somebody might just give you one

  343. word or one sentence, and then by their.

  344. Response God to to something else. God, I'm going to go.

  345. He's Santosh.

  346. He is a script for today, mate, take it with

  347. you page two, which makes me going to speak to

  348. so and so.

  349. I wing to learn that bit.

  350. He doesn't do that. He says, step out. Let me

  351. fill your mouth with one way to say so. I

  352. drew this lady in and brought her to a place

  353. where she could receive from him. Jesus met her at

  354. the point of her need. She was an outcast. He

  355. gave her hope. It's interesting she went into the city

  356. and spoke to the men. She spoke to the men.

  357. She was used to speaking to the men that would

  358. suggest and they listened to her.

  359. So she was used to converse with a gentleman, or

  360. maybe not a gentlemen. Anyway, she was just speaking to

  361. these guys, and they came out of the city to

  362. meet Jesus. One word from God shameed that woman's life.

  363. We don't believe because of what you said. We believe

  364. because of what we have heard. Jesus was an agent

  365. for change in that situation. Was in the right place

  366. at the right time. Like the smritis in the right

  367. place at the right time. We can be a good

  368. neighbor by offering help to people, which then sows a seed,

  369. would be a good neighbor by administering God's work to

  370. somebody who was in a typicult position. Nobody is out

  371. of reach for God, nobody. Jesus met this lady at

  372. the point of her need.

  373. That's what he does for everybody. It's in the right

  374. place at the right time.

  375. And we too can be in the right place at

  376. the right time if we take the time every day to.

  377. Listen and to follow that still small voice. God is moving.

  378. God is moving.

  379. It starts with a ripple, and it builds, and it

  380. builds and it builds.

  381. Do you get your some army. But God is moving.

  382. He wants us to be part of that move. So

  383. be open to hearing what there this spirit is saying

  384. to you.

  385. Not even be in tescos. It doesn't matter, does it?

  386. What matters? Do we hear and we do something. I

  387. can make a mistake or repent. We get it right.

  388. We're sowing the seed. Remember, someday sows a seed, someday.

  389. Reaps the harvest. You may have been that person who's

  390. sewing the seed, or maybe that person's going to read

  391. that harvest. It doesn't matter. All that matters will be

  392. walk in that rhythm. Miracles when people's lives are changed,

  393. one word, one day at a time.

  394. Kah zachar A four, verse six, very familiar scripture. I'm

  395. sure it's not by might.

  396. Nor by power, by my spirit, says the Lord. In

  397. other words, it's not me, me, me, me, me, about

  398. to sing. It's him in it's our body where it's

  399. his life. So it's a it's a surrender moment when

  400. we surrender.

  401. Every day and do the things we do not want

  402. to do. I go to a place we do not

  403. want to go for it simply God wants the conscious to.

  404. Walk in love, follow the direction of the Holy Spirit

  405. it so.

  406. It can be a successful neighbor. Interesting concept, but that's

  407. this sort of thing. So wraps up very shortly. I'm

  408. just listening.

  409. So as a smitem met the physical needs of the man,

  410. as Jesus meant the spiritual needs of that woman. God

  411. wants to meet you at the point of your need today.

  412. Well that's a physical need, and then she'll need a

  413. social need or an emotional need.

  414. Go wants to meet you with the point of your need.

  415. All right, So.

  416. That means you need to release your faith believe God

  417. to do.

  418. Something for you. Yeah, So what he wants me to

  419. do is pray a prayer of faith. So I'll do that.

  420. Thank God. I'll meet you with the point of your need.

  421. Now I'm not interested what your need is under my business,

  422. but he knows, and you can speak to him.

  423. Now that a crack man speaking. Well, I'm going to

  424. ask anybody in this room. I'm watching online.

  425. I'll watch him later because God there's a spirit. But

  426. you will have had that John for scripture.

  427. If you want God to meet the part of me,

  428. the part of your need. Faith is an act, but

  429. faith is the fact because you know you've got.

  430. To do something. So if you've got need, you wan't

  431. got to meet that need. And I ask you to

  432. stand when I pray, not because I'm interested who was

  433. standing up, but as as a statement of faith that

  434. you're interested in God doing something for you that I need.

  435. Mm hmm bother me.

  436. So I'm going to pray now and we're out of

  437. the preach and I'm back to today. If you want

  438. God to meet you at the point of your need.

  439. Right now, stand up, I'll pray and give it back today. Okay,

  440. so far that in the name of Jesus.

  441. I know you're here. Dad asked me to do. Starting

  442. to do it. Father, for all those people who are.

  443. Standing in this room, standing on the.

  444. Online or listening and standing later. I pray now in

  445. the name of Jesus, you meet them at the point

  446. of their need.

  447. But that's the physical need, a financial need, a social need,

  448. or an emotional need.

  449. Father, you know, and I believe now in the name

  450. of Jesus for the least of that meeting of those needs. Father,

  451. in the name of Jesus, right now, in the name

  452. of Jesus, and I thank you for answering these people's prayers. Father,

  453. in the name of Jesus, I thank you for meeting

  454. at the point of their need. Father, in Jesus name,

  455. I thank you you are a spirit and that nothing

  456. is impossible to you.

  457. The Word of God says, and behold, I am the Lord,

  458. the God of all flesh. Is there anything too heart

  459. for me? So you've got on anything you need to

  460. give it to God because nothing it's too heart for him?

  461. So receive what you need by faith and thank God

  462. for doing.

  463. What you're asking to do. Remember it's not about me,

  464. it's not about you. It's about what God is doing

  465. for you. So don't look around, look at Him and

  466. receive what you need now in the name of Jesus.

  467. What happens immediately or later, it doesn't matter. What matters

  468. is that you believe you receive, and I believe I

  469. receive when I pray for these people. Father, in the

  470. name of Jesus, do what you need to do, Lord,

  471. do it now in Jesus' name.
