  1. To do in Jesus' name. Amen. The worship team did

  2. a great job. The last song is exactly in line

  3. with where I'm going today, are you? This is about

  4. being dressed and ready. That's our theme for this month

  5. as we head towards Christmas. Anybody dress up for a Christmas?

  6. Do yet? Anybody being out on a Christmas Do You've

  7. got all specially dressed up? Maybe you got a special

  8. dress or a suit, or got a special tie out.

  9. You know, We've dressed for special occasions, don't we We're

  10. going somewhere special. Maybe we want to impress somebody, maybe

  11. our boss, maybe our children, maybe a you know, if

  12. we're courting, maybe a boyfriend or girlfriend. But we dress

  13. to impress. Do you know what I want to say?

  14. We need to dress on the inside too. He has

  15. been talked a bit about this last week. We need

  16. to dress on the inside too. So please bear with me.

  17. This is going to be a pretty ouch sermon. So

  18. please press in because I'm with you in this, and

  19. I've got a whole load of different versions of the Bible.

  20. But let me start with Exodus chapter nineteen, verses five

  21. and six. But you, that's us. But you are a

  22. chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, God's own

  23. purchased special people, that you may set forth the wonderful

  24. deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him who

  25. called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. We're chosen, Church,

  26. We're special. That means your special. I am absolutely certain

  27. quite a few people who are listening online and who

  28. are in the room today, at some point in our

  29. lives we will have said I'm not good enough or

  30. I'm not special. Scripture says you are special, You're chosen.

  31. Set apart. Why does God set us apart? Why does

  32. he do that? In Philippians chapter four, it says this,

  33. then God's wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make

  34. the answers known to you through Christ Jesus. So keep

  35. your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real,

  36. honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful

  37. and kind, and fastening your thoughts on every glorious work

  38. of God, praising him always. I wonder if I said, Okay,

  39. for the next five minutes, I'm now going to broadcast

  40. up on the screen to the world what you've been

  41. thinking about this week, I'd start to get a bit nervous,

  42. if I'm honest with you, if that was okay. So

  43. now we're going to press the button. It's going to

  44. be Dave's version of the week. Uh okay, can we

  45. filter that out please, because there's some things I'm not

  46. proud of you and we probably all do that. We

  47. probably all do that from time to time. But we

  48. need to keep our eyes continually fixed on what is authentic,

  49. kingdom real, and I want to really challenge and explore

  50. some of this. I've got some principles I want to explore.

  51. So brace your minds, be sober, circumspect, morally alert, set

  52. your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace divine favor

  53. that He's coming to you when Christ, Jesus the Messiah

  54. is revealed. So that's me setting the scene. Do you

  55. know where I'm going. I'm going to challenge you. I'm

  56. going to provoke you. Do you know what we think

  57. we will become? And I'll unpack this. You know what

  58. goes on in here. If we're not careful, we will

  59. become it. Pep on feeding our minds with rubbish, rubbish

  60. will come out. You can say exactly the same about

  61. our bodies. If you keep on eating ten doughnuts a day,

  62. you know your body will not be in good shape.

  63. I was listening to a podcast this week and said,

  64. you know most things, if you eat in extremes, if

  65. you eat at a stadium full of Mars bars every week,

  66. you will probably get cancer. Yeah. Probably. I'm not trying

  67. to It's a stupid statement in some senses, because no

  68. one will ever eat a stadium full of Mars bars.

  69. But what it was saying in moderation, many things are good,

  70. but if we are not careful, what we think is

  71. what we become. And I want to start by talking

  72. about our thought life. The first thing I want to

  73. say is we need to identify the thoughts that come

  74. into our minds. Think about this morning, have a think

  75. about this morning. Think about not what you had for breakfast,

  76. but at some point during the morning you probably thought something.

  77. It might have been triggered by the news. It might

  78. have been triggered by the radio. It might have been

  79. triggered by a phone call. But now your thoughts are running.

  80. Did you guard your mind? Did you allow whatever came

  81. to go straight into your head and go, okay, that's

  82. the right. The first thing we need to do is

  83. to identify that there is a thought. We need to

  84. identify that thought. Why do we need to identify because

  85. we're accepting it, we're allowing it in. Let me give

  86. you an example. You're not very good. Some people have

  87. thought that. Well, do you know what? Somebody might say

  88. that Your dad or your mom might have said that

  89. at some point over your life, and you've just allowed

  90. it to drive down the freeway of your mind. You've

  91. allowed it in. The first thing we need to do

  92. is guard our minds. So just think about this. On

  93. our motorways here in the UK, we allow almost anything

  94. to drive on the motorway, trucks, vans, not bicycles. But

  95. do you know what, We need to guard our minds

  96. in the same way. And so we cannot allow everything

  97. that travels on the freeway of our minds just to

  98. arrive and take over. So the first thing we need

  99. to do is to identify those sorts. We need to

  100. identify the thoughts we're allowing in. Maybe actually we ought

  101. to think of our mind more as a toll road

  102. that will only allow certain things on that road. And

  103. in deciding what we're going to allow. So will we

  104. almost have a policeman at our door of our minds

  105. going no, I'm not allowing that. In two key questions

  106. I want to ask to help us to guard our minds.

  107. Number one is who's it from? What's the source of

  108. the idea. Let's say I walked up to you and

  109. I said to you the world body is flat. Some

  110. of you might for some reason go, no, it's not okay,

  111. Well prove it to me, because there were many people

  112. in the world who, for many, many decades thought the

  113. world was flat. They thought if you came to the

  114. end of the world, you'd fall off, and that's why

  115. exploration was limited for many centuries. People were afraid you'd

  116. fall off the end of the world. And we laugh

  117. now because we've had the privilege to have pictures from

  118. space that show us the planet we live on that

  119. what God created. So first thing is what's the source?

  120. And the second thing is does it align with God's words?

  121. So simple principle, I'd like you to imagine sitting down

  122. and having a cup of coffee. You're sitting down and

  123. having a cup of coffee with somebody and they start

  124. sharing some really kind of unpleasant things with you. Not

  125. their own life, not their own experience, but gossip about

  126. somebody else. First thing we want to ask ourselves is, Okay,

  127. where's this from? Because sometimes it'll be from the enemy,

  128. sometimes it'll be from a bad source. It is Google

  129. a good source. I challenge my students all the time.

  130. I say to them, what do you trust as a

  131. good source? And You've heard me quote this many times before,

  132. but I'll quote it again. A fantastic piece of research

  133. done out of the University of Southern California that got

  134. a whole bunch of people to get up in the

  135. morning and for breakfast they read a great text, the Bible,

  136. the Tour of the Little Prince. Another group of people,

  137. they were only allowed to read the news, the newspapers, podcasts,

  138. those kind of things, just the news of the day.

  139. After a few months, those who read the great texts

  140. were healthier, happier, more at peace, and I could keep

  141. on going. Those who are reading the news every day

  142. the roller coaster of the news up and down. And

  143. I'm not saying we shouldn't read the news, but I'm saying,

  144. let's look at the source, because quite often the source

  145. is not reliable. Oh Google says, who trusts Google? Who

  146. trust Wikipedia? I mean, I trust God's word. But Wikipedia

  147. is virtual truth. Anybody can change it. And so you know,

  148. don't put your tru As an academic, I would say

  149. to my students, please don't quote Wikipedia to me. You

  150. will get a black mark on you in your exam

  151. or your essay if you quote Wikipedia, a negative mark.

  152. So question number one, what's the source? Question number two?

  153. Does it align with God's word? Let's explore some of

  154. the lies that maybe we've heard before. Let's see if

  155. I can find them. I think I put some up here,

  156. some lies that come our way. Let me read out

  157. some of them to you. And this is not meant

  158. to be exclusive. You are not good enough at church.

  159. I don't believe this. I'm just saying this is now.

  160. Let's say somebody said to you you're not good en. Well,

  161. what's the first thing we do or where is it from?

  162. When it might be somebody's opinion. It might be your

  163. dad might have said that to you. It might be

  164. their opinion. But second test, does it align with God's word? No,

  165. Jesus sent his one and only son to die for you.

  166. He said, his one and only son to die for you.

  167. So why would he do that if you weren't good enough.

  168. He's done it because you're special, You're unique. I've already

  169. given you scriptures to declare your special, your precious, your unique.

  170. You've been chosen. People don't choose people who are not

  171. good enough. You've probably been there at some point when

  172. you were getting selected, and you know you had primary

  173. school selects, two teams, two team captains, and you're the

  174. last person to be picked. You know how that feels.

  175. It feels like I'm not good enough. But that's just

  176. a lie, so we reject it. On premise number two.

  177. Another lie is it's better somewhere else. That may be

  178. true sometimes, but you know what, if we are always

  179. looking over the fence, if we're always looking at something else,

  180. then we have not fucking scripture says godly contentment is

  181. great gain being at peace with where you're at now.

  182. I'm not saying it's easy. Jesus said there will be

  183. troubles in life. He did say that, but you know

  184. we can get through it with him. And so if

  185. we start believing day after day it's better somewhere else,

  186. we're not looking about improving where we are. We're looking

  187. about going somewhere else. Third one, I'm not gonna make it.

  188. I'm not going to finish this. Do you know what?

  189. God helps us, He enables us, he feels us, he

  190. equips us. We can do all things through Christ, who

  191. strengthens us. And so sometimes God will be with us.

  192. God will be with us in many different ways. I

  193. heard only this week somebody say everyone's against me everyone.

  194. I kind of go, everyone, God's for you. If God

  195. is for you, who can be against you? And so

  196. these are lies. I can refute these all with scripture.

  197. They're very simple to refute with scripture. And that's one

  198. of the reasons I give you memory versus every week,

  199. because I want to give you weapons of warfare. That means,

  200. when this whisper comes in your ear, you go, no,

  201. that's not true. That's not true about me. I'm not

  202. going to accept this. So just think about this. Someone

  203. comes and sits and I'm picking on the coffee drinkers.

  204. Could have tea drinkers too. But you sit down and

  205. have a coffee and somebody suddenly starts talking and you go, okay,

  206. I'm not comfortable. This doesn't line up. If it's not

  207. from a good source, and it doesn't line up with

  208. God's word. Stop, I'm not talking about this. Just imagine

  209. your best friends. Somebody comes and they starts telling you

  210. things that you know are lies, but and you think, well,

  211. I just need to listen to it. Oh no, stop, stop, Okay,

  212. what are we going to talk about. If it's not

  213. going to be from a good source, it's not going

  214. to line up with God's word. Let's move on because

  215. I'm not going to sit here for two hours. I'm

  216. not going to sit here for two hours and listen

  217. and allow this to contaminate my mind and my heart.

  218. Because we can change our thoughts. We can change our thoughts,

  219. and if we change our thoughts, it will change our actions.

  220. And if we change our actions, it will change the

  221. way we walk. And if we change the way we walk,

  222. it will change the way we live. It starts with

  223. some simple things, by the way we think. That's why

  224. we need to make room in our minds. You know,

  225. I while I went to see a pediatrist who kind

  226. of measured my gate and put me on machines and

  227. made me walk, And he said, Dave, you're your You

  228. know your feet are out of alignment, and it's a

  229. whole bunch of history, you know. And he got some

  230. inserts from my shoe which I put inside my shoes,

  231. and I meant to wear them every day. I meant,

  232. notice I say I meant to wear them every day

  233. because they're uncomfortable. At the moment, they're uncomfortable. I know

  234. they're doing me good. But do you know what I

  235. have to choose to put the right pair of shoes on.

  236. I can put on another pair of shoes that don't

  237. have the inserts in, and then I think, oh, that

  238. feels okay, but I'm not standing right. And because I'm

  239. not standing right, everything else goes out of kils it,

  240. you know. So I have to choose put the right

  241. shoes on, put wear the right inserts that will result

  242. in a good walk, and a good will result in

  243. a healthier life. I want to be here for decades.

  244. I don't know about you. I want to be here

  245. for decades. I want to live out my retirement, whatever

  246. that means. When I say retirement, I don't mean retirement

  247. from the kingdom. I don't think you retire in that way.

  248. But you know, when you earn a pension, those kind

  249. of things, don't have to go to work every day.

  250. So in two Corinthians, chapter ten, verse five, and I'm

  251. going to read from the Message now, I just love

  252. this version. Here we use our powerful God given tools

  253. for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the

  254. truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and

  255. impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Two Corinthians,

  256. chapter ten, verse six, from the Message version, if we

  257. allow it. In Oh, let me pick up that one

  258. that I gave you, the world is flat? Okay? Shall

  259. we talk about it? Some of you are going no, Dave,

  260. that's boring. I'm not interested. Some of you will go, well,

  261. our humor you. Sometimes we talk about things because we

  262. want to humor the person who's talking to us. Do

  263. you know what if they're preaching lies to us, If

  264. they're speaking lies to us, we need to just go

  265. whoa hang in a second, can we change the subject?

  266. And you are perfectly at liberty to change the subject.

  267. And if they don't want to change the subject, maybe

  268. you want to say, do you know what, I'm going

  269. to go and get another cup of coffee. I'm going

  270. to go to the Loo and then we're going to

  271. come back and we have a different conversation. About six

  272. or seven years ago, I remember going into a kitchen

  273. of a couple who have I've known for many, many,

  274. many years, and they went abroad and they lived in

  275. Europe for a number of years in different countries, and

  276. then they came back to the UK and I went

  277. into their kitchen and I was chatting to them, and

  278. I nearly burst into tears. I honestly nearly burst into

  279. tears because we were having the same conversation we'd had

  280. probably ten years before. They were stuck in a rut.

  281. They were still stuck in a rut. They hadn't made

  282. any other choices to walk differently. Even though I tried

  283. to sow some scripture into them, they were still stuck

  284. in a rut. And it's particularly about family relationships, you

  285. know what I mean, When part of the family's fallen

  286. out with another part of the family, and then you

  287. get asked these kind of questions, so whose side are

  288. you on? But do you know my general answer to

  289. most people who say whose side are you on? Is

  290. I'm not on anybody's side right now. All I'm doing

  291. is listen but I'm listening for the truth. Remember those

  292. two tests, what's the source? Now you imagine you've got

  293. one side of the family going, oh he said this,

  294. and she said that, and oh, you almost want to

  295. go I'll switch this off and I'll just sit and

  296. on nod and I won't. Well, Okay, I don't think

  297. you're being helpful allowing them to talk. Let's change the conversation.

  298. Sometimes people do need to unload. If people are grieving,

  299. they do need to unload. You know. That kind of

  300. stuff happens, and sometimes we don't want to. But do

  301. you know what whenever someone you know, I had the

  302. privilege of taking the funeral of an elderly gentleman who

  303. lived opposite us. He passed away a number of weeks ago,

  304. and I had the privileges doing his funeral. I talked

  305. to his family, and some of them just very sad

  306. that he's gone. He's lived into his nineties, a lovely guy.

  307. What I just let but do you know what I

  308. was looking for was Okay, I want to turn this

  309. conversation around. I want to take this somewhere else now.

  310. I don't want them to stay in their grief. And

  311. what I have the privilege, and I've said it to

  312. a number of you, is whenever I take a funeral,

  313. and I've taken quite a few over the years, sometimes

  314. I don't know the people who are asking me to

  315. take the funeral. Maybe I knew their mum or their dad.

  316. And then saying, Dave, my mum and my dad used

  317. to come to your church or to a senior sits

  318. as lunch, And I think, would you be willing to

  319. do their funeral? And I say yes, if we're number one,

  320. going to celebrate their life. If we're not going to

  321. celebrate a life, I'm not interested. Number two, we're saying

  322. farewell because their grief is very much part of the process.

  323. But the third piece, which I think is important, is

  324. that there's a message of hope. I've been to funerals

  325. where there is no message of hope at all. It's

  326. like you walk out there, you're hedge down, you're looking

  327. at the floor. No one's talking because you don't know

  328. what to say. I really believe we need to God

  329. needs to help us to take things to a greater place.

  330. And sometimes that's about Number one. Where's it from? Okay?

  331. If it's not from God, sorry, I'm not listening, and

  332. you can find polite ways of saying this. You don't

  333. always have to say nan and I'm not listening. Now

  334. that's a teenage response, and you may have teenagers who

  335. do that. But do you know what there are different

  336. ways of doing Do you know what can we move

  337. the conversation on? Because what we allow in we need

  338. to guard our hearts and minds. How do we do that? Well,

  339. let me quote Romans twelve, Chapter two, Chapter twelve, US

  340. two and do not be conformed to this world, but

  341. be transformed how by the renewing of your mind, that

  342. you may prove what is good and accepted and perfect.

  343. Word of this scripture alone describes I'm talking about today.

  344. You only need to practice this one scripture and you've

  345. got it. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

  346. You know, our brains renew themselves on a second by

  347. second basis. You know there are cells that are dying,

  348. there are cells that are being reproduced. You know the

  349. neurons are firing. You know, that's that's the great thing.

  350. Let me put it a different way in the amplified version,

  351. because I do like to go into the amplified version

  352. from time to time, Romans twelve two. Do not be

  353. conformed to this world, this age, fashioned after and adapted

  354. to this external superficial customs. You know, we allow superficiality

  355. to come in. We allow customs to overall sometimes, you know,

  356. kingdom principles overall, in my perspective, kingdom principles. There will

  357. be things. There were things that Daniel was asked to do.

  358. He would not bow down. There are plenty of examples

  359. in scripture where they said no, I'm not going to

  360. do that. And there may be a time in your

  361. life when you have to say no to an official.

  362. So I'm sorry, I'm not doing that. But be transformed,

  363. changed by the entire renewal of your mind. That's the

  364. biological stuff that's going on in there by its new

  365. ideas and its new attitude, so that you may prove

  366. for yourselves, because we need to know ourselves that this

  367. is good and healthy. You know, just the p dietary

  368. is saying to me, oh, it'll do you good. You know,

  369. when I did a check up with him, he went,

  370. how's it going. I said, it's pretty painful, to be honest,

  371. and he went, yeah, but look at the way you're

  372. walking differently. So I can see the benefits for anybody

  373. who doesn't like going to the gym. And I know

  374. we've got people who love going to the gym and

  375. other people who like me, you are not so good.

  376. You know there is benefit in doing it. There is

  377. benefit in making right choices that you may prove to

  378. yourselves what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God,

  379. even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect

  380. in His side for you. So four steps I want

  381. us to take. Number one is identify the thought as

  382. a thought comes towards you go, Oh, there's a thought coming.

  383. A bit like crossing the road. You know, if you

  384. think about it, when you cross the road, the first

  385. thing I say, stop, look right, look left, you are

  386. looking for traffic. Now, let me encourage you. If you

  387. are uncomfortable in a particular moment, you're about to go

  388. into a conversation, just stop and think, Okay, what's coming?

  389. What thought is coming my way? Sometimes you will have

  390. a particular conversation you're going to meet someone. You go,

  391. I know where this is going to go. So you

  392. take a deep breath. In that deep breath, ask God

  393. to help you. So number one, identify the thought. Number two,

  394. speak to the thought. And if you think I'm nuts here,

  395. I regularly see people walking around the street speaking as

  396. if to themselves. Now I'm starting to pray out loud

  397. whilst I'm walking, more than I ever used to do.

  398. I didn't use to do it because I thought, Okay,

  399. somebody's going to label me as a bit nuts because

  400. I'm walking down the street and I'm talking to myself.

  401. And then I realized, all I have to do is

  402. to put my ear buds in so I look like

  403. I'm on the phone and I can start talking. Because

  404. you have been annoyed, just like I've been annoyed when

  405. someone's on the train and they're talking on their phone

  406. on their ear buds and you can hear the whole conversation.

  407. You think, I don't want to hear about what you're

  408. having for dinner tonight, But we can utilize that. Put

  409. an earbud in your ear and carry on talking. Walk

  410. the high street and pray because what we talk about

  411. is what we become. So speak to those thoughts, So

  412. dress those thoughts. Allow into your mind what is important?

  413. What is something? Now? Once we've then said what does

  414. it align to God's word, to his truth? We can

  415. claim that truth. I can do all things through Christ,

  416. who strengthens me. We know that to be true. We

  417. know it's the Bible says that, But can we claim it.

  418. Can we say that's true for me? It's true for

  419. me now, because that's the difference between having a truth

  420. and claiming a truth. So I want to encourage us.

  421. Let's lay hold of that truth. Those some of those

  422. lies that I talked about, Let's claim some of the truths,

  423. some of the words we just sung. There's no shadow

  424. you won't light up. There's no mountain you won't climber,

  425. there's no wall you won't kick down. Coming after me,

  426. not coming after somebody else, coming after me. God's coming

  427. after you. God's chasing after you. Jesus talks about he

  428. left the ninety nine to go for the one. That's

  429. what a shepherd would do, the lost sheep. We will

  430. go and find that lost sheep. So let's claim that truth.

  431. And then once we claimed it and said that's true

  432. for me, now let's choose to walk it. And I

  433. know you don't want to hear a about my pedetary experiences,

  434. but this is the reality. The reality is every day

  435. I need to make a choice going, Okay, the advice

  436. that I've been given is good. I can feel the

  437. benefit of it. I can also feel the pain of it.

  438. But I'm going to claim that truth, and I am

  439. going to walk in that truth. I'm going to walk

  440. in that truth, and I'm going to walk better and better. Now,

  441. that may not be true about shoes for you, but

  442. Scripture talks about putting on the full armor of God,

  443. the belt of truth that holds everything together, the breastplate

  444. of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the feet shod with

  445. the readiness of the Gospel of peace. One of the

  446. things about shoes is it takes you somewhere. I've been

  447. told that empathy means walking in somebody else's shoes, and

  448. I literally took that story once and I thought, Okay,

  449. I'm going to try and put somebody else's shoes on. Now,

  450. I've got big feet, I've got sized twelve shoes. So

  451. when I try and put my wife's garden shoes on,

  452. I put my toes in and around like this because

  453. I can't be bothered to look for my shoes. I

  454. just got to go out in the garden and feed

  455. the birds or something, and I'll do it. In my

  456. wife's shoes, and I'll put my toes in the shoes,

  457. and I'll walk really strangely. And if somebody was watching me, Chris,

  458. you may have seen me do this. Ah, you know,

  459. but they're not fit for me. They're not designed for me.

  460. Whose shoes are you wearing? Because if you empathize with someone,

  461. you'll put shoes on like them. And if you walk

  462. the way they walk, you will find that you will

  463. find you are looking at the world from their perspective.

  464. That's why if we allow some of these thoughts into

  465. our minds, we will find ourselves in places we don't

  466. want to be. And that's both physical and spiritual. There

  467. are places that people can take us if we're not careful.

  468. One Peter chapter three, verse ten. For he who loves

  469. life and sees good days, let him refrain his tongue

  470. from evil and his lips from speaking. To see. What

  471. we allow in is often what we speak out. I

  472. find myself often quoting things that I've heard in the week.

  473. Somebody said something, and I think, oh, that's good, I'm

  474. going to use that. We're doing a Bible study at

  475. the moment, and if you want to join us or

  476. even get the book you ask me, you've still got

  477. some books. God on Mute by Pete Gregg. It's a fantastic,

  478. real journey through talking about difficult things. What do you

  479. do when God doesn't seem to be answering your prayer? Well,

  480. these are some of the things that are lies that

  481. need to be dealt with. Okay, Notice I use the

  482. word seems like he's not answering your prayer. Anybody understand

  483. the four letter acronym fomo. Do you know what it

  484. stands for? Fear of missing out? It's probably one of

  485. the biggest fears in the world today. We feel we're

  486. going to miss out, so we hold back. I'll give

  487. you a really simple example that's true in church life.

  488. You put an event on, you say, people, let us

  489. know whether you're coming, because we need to buy the

  490. meat or whatever it is. We're having a barbecue. We

  491. need to buy the meat. And some people will respond,

  492. some people won't, and some of us we're thinking, well,

  493. something better might come along, So I don't want to

  494. commit because something might better might come along. Do you

  495. know what fear of missing out to lie? The enemy

  496. wants to keep on coming back to us, something better

  497. on the other side of the fence. Somebody came up

  498. to me about nine years ago. Nine years ago and

  499. he said, Pastor, I've I've been given this prophetic word

  500. by a profit in our network, and I'd just like

  501. to understand what you think about it. He said, okay,

  502. far away. This is in the coffee break at a

  503. conference I was speaking at. He said, yeah, this person

  504. cared to me and said I've got a word for you.

  505. And I said, yeah, what did they say? And they said,

  506. the wife that you have is not the wife that

  507. God has for you. God has a better wife for you.

  508. I don't know what you'd have said when that was

  509. shared with you. I said, number one, do you trust

  510. the person who shared that with you? What's the source?

  511. I'm going back to some principles. I'm just i want

  512. to give you some example. What's the source? He said, well, yeah,

  513. they're a good person. But I said, okay, if you'd

  514. have asked them to share this with somebody else being present,

  515. what would they have done? He said, yeah, Actually, interestingly,

  516. they asked to share it privately with me. I said

  517. what did private mean? I said just for me? And

  518. then I said, whaha, stop. Okay, you know there are

  519. prophetic words that are very personal and private, but not

  520. private enough that it has to be one to one.

  521. And if anybody, and certainly here asks you, if anybody

  522. ever says to you, I've got a prophetic word and

  523. I only need to speak to you, go okay, stop,

  524. I'm teaching this right now from the front. I've said

  525. it before, but I'm saying it again. If someone says

  526. I've got a word for you, and they won't, you know,

  527. you just you say, can I bring my friend? Can

  528. I bring my husband? Can I bring my wife? If

  529. they say no, then you go so thank you very much,

  530. thanks for willing to offer it. But the prophetic needs

  531. to be accountable. It needs to be tested, it needs

  532. to be validated. And do you know what, if it's

  533. a word that you want to hear, it'll tickle your

  534. ears and you'll only remember bits of it. That's why

  535. we live in a modern age where you can record stuff.

  536. It's great to be able to record stuff. Well. When

  537. the spirit started moving in revivals in Wales, they had

  538. scribes who sat at the front of church and wrote

  539. down every prophetic word in a fountain pen. Just imagine

  540. that if when a prophetic were You've got to write

  541. really quickly, and you've got to remember it all. Wow,

  542. we have the privilege now being able to record all

  543. it and listen to it again and again and again.

  544. Number one, Okay, is it willing to be shared public?

  545. Do you trust them as a source? Have they been

  546. reliable before? Now? One of the things, and it's one

  547. of the tests we as church have to do, is

  548. if we say a prophetic word, you know, we've said,

  549. we said, we've said, and this is again teachability. I

  550. tend to say, I hope. I tend to say I

  551. think the Lord is saying and it's not because he's imperfect,

  552. it's because I'm imperfect. Corinthians talks about we prophesy in

  553. part we prophesy. Now, there have been one or two

  554. times in my life when something has happened just before

  555. a meeting when I've been traveling. Something happened that destructed

  556. once I got an email that was really kind of problematic.

  557. Another time, somebody came and started ranting at me just

  558. before the service was about to start. They weren't they

  559. weren't mentally well. This particular person, the pastor, came up

  560. to me, but I didn't know that, and they kind

  561. of ranting at me. And then I went in, I

  562. wasn't in a good place. And so some of the

  563. things that I prophesied probably carried a little bit of

  564. that nervousness, and that we prophesy in part. That's why

  565. we need to make ourselves. Set ourselves apart. People who preach,

  566. make sure you're in a good place. People who prophesy,

  567. make sure if you're got to pray for someone, make

  568. sure you're in a good place. So number one, I'm

  569. going back to this, what this prophetic word? Do you trust?

  570. This aorce? Were they willing to be accountable? And then

  571. does it align with God's word? Does it alone? Sorry,

  572. that's two. Does it allown with God's word? No, no

  573. it doesn't. So just on those two tests alone, I've said,

  574. I would just say thank you very much, bye bye.

  575. I wouldn't even allow it in I wouldn't even talk

  576. about it because it doesn't line up with God's word.

  577. And Ruth said this, which I'd love. In the Book

  578. of Ruth, Chapter one, verse sixteen, Ruth said, don't force

  579. me to leave you, don't make me go home. Where

  580. you go, I will go where you live. I will live.

  581. Your people are my people. Your God is my God.

  582. Do you know what? There are times when we need

  583. to buddy up together and say, do you know what.

  584. I'm on the same page as you, and I want

  585. to do this together. And as I want to do

  586. this together, I want to encourage us to be of

  587. good carriage. To Samuel ten, verse twelve ends with it.

  588. I'm going to end with this, be of good courage,

  589. and let us be strong for our people and for

  590. the cities of our God. And may the gods do

  591. what he's good in his SIGHTE What do we allowing?

  592. Because what we allow in will probably linger, and if

  593. it lingers, it will probably have an effect. Think about

  594. not washing your saucepans properly. Think about a strong flavor anchovies, curry, chilies.

  595. You haven't washed your saucepan quite properly. You then go

  596. and make rice pudding. This rice pudding tastes of chilies.

  597. Why is that? Because it's contaminated by something that went before?

  598. Good timing? Rob nice love it? I love it, you know?

  599. So who's for us? Who's with us? What do you

  600. allow in? Let me go back to those four questions

  601. if you want to bring them up. Okay, identified number one.

  602. Identified the thought. Once you've identified it and you've pleased

  603. it and said not allowing that in that that's not beneficial.

  604. And do what Please be very wise about the conversations

  605. that you have identified. Firstly, identify it is a thought. Second,

  606. speak to that thought. Once we've got hold of that

  607. thought and allowed it in, and we're going to do

  608. something with claim it. If it's truth, then claim the truth,

  609. walk out the truth, live the truth, and then walk

  610. in that truth. I've given you some lies, and I'm

  611. not to go back to them again because I don't

  612. want to give them any more footage than I've already

  613. given them. I've given them too much footage as it was.

  614. But I think I wanted to go there because for

  615. some people that would have been true. For some people

  616. listening at home, that might be true that you have

  617. thought I'm not good enough. God sent his one and

  618. only son for you and for me. And we're going

  619. to step back to worship now. And we have room

  620. to minister now. And one of the reasons for us

  621. moving here was to make room for ministry. We have

  622. a big space at the front. Now. We have people

  623. who are happy to come and pray. If you need

  624. prayer today, if you've allowed thoughts into your mind that

  625. you need to get rid of. Maybe there's some that

  626. are stuck, maybe there's a thought that you've carried for decades.

  627. Then now is the time to press in. As we

  628. worship God, let's examine our hearts. So let me pray, Father,

  629. thank you for loving us. Thank you for loving us

  630. so Dearly Father, help us to walk aright, help us

  631. to walk through, Help us to help others to do

  632. that too. Father, we want the light of your presence,

  633. the love of your spirit, the manifest of your presence

  634. in our world to change us. Move us, bless us,

  635. and release us for freedom's sake. In Jesus' name, Amena Chaur.

  636. Just just want in
