  1. That he's come prepared. Thank you that he's downloaded from heaven.

  2. Father.

  3. I probably you'd bless his family, you'd bless all that.

  4. He does at home.

  5. Thank you that he's being to give us time to

  6. be with us this morning, Feed us and feed him

  7. as we as we gather around your word today in

  8. Jesus name.

  9. Amen, Well, good morning once again. Thank you Paster Dave

  10. for having me here today. I mean, I think the

  11. last time I was Hell must be like twenty years

  12. or something.

  13. Yeah.

  14. Wow, we we had an amazing time of worship today.

  15. God is looking for people who would worship him in

  16. speed and in truth, saying hello to everybody at home,

  17. Praise God.

  18. All right, So.

  19. Today the title of our message is a fresh Start.

  20. I understand that's the thing, right, And I'm just gonna

  21. I've said a fresh start at a timeline, and we're

  22. gonna be looking at the story of Peter.

  23. We'll know the story very well.

  24. Harpita fished all night and didn't catch anything until when

  25. Jesus showed up on the scene. So I'm going to

  26. read look chapter five, verse one to eleven, fairly lengthy,

  27. but for context is important that we understand I appreciate

  28. what I'm going to be talking about today.

  29. So I start out.

  30. So it was as the multitude pressed about him to

  31. hear the word of God, that he stood by the

  32. lake of Genno Sauret and saw two boats standing by

  33. the lake, but the fishermen had gone from them and

  34. were washing their nets verse three. Then he got into

  35. one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him

  36. to put out a little from the land, and he

  37. sat down and taught the multitudes from the boats. When

  38. he had stopped speaking, he said to Simon, launched out

  39. into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.

  40. But Simon answered and said to him, Master, we have

  41. toiled all night and caught nothing. Nevertheless, at your word,

  42. I will let down the nets. And when they had

  43. done this, they caught a great number of fish, and

  44. their nets was breaking. So they signaled to their partners

  45. in the other boats to come and help them, and

  46. they came and filled both the boats, so that they

  47. began to sink. Okay, let me go ahead, all right.

  48. So when Simon pitched us saw it, he felt that

  49. that Jesus is knee is saying, depart from me.

  50. I am a seen ful man, oh Lord, for.

  51. He and all who were with him were astonished at

  52. the catch of fish which they had taken. And so

  53. also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who

  54. were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, do

  55. not be afraid. From now on you were catch men.

  56. So when they had so, when they had brought their

  57. boats to learn, they forsook all and followed him. How

  58. many of us would agree with the fact that Peter, James,

  59. they all.

  60. Had a fresh starts, right, There was a fresh start

  61. for all of them.

  62. And so one of the things I realized in this

  63. life is, you know, you could now I've been I've

  64. been a Christian for upwards of thirty five years, originally

  65. from Nigeria, but I was born here about fifty seven

  66. years ago. I'm married to one wife, yeah, and we

  67. both have a daughter. My daughter works and lives in

  68. New York. So I've come to see that it's possible

  69. to say I want to have a fresh start, right,

  70. I mean, and I'm sure at the beginning of the year,

  71. or maybe on the thirty first, we all said, oh,

  72. I'm going to stop doing this. I'm gonna stop doing this,

  73. I'm gonna stop doing this. I'm gonna start doing this now.

  74. I'm not gonna ask while you're still doing these things

  75. you said they're going to start doing. It's today is

  76. what nineteenth of January. So I'm not gonna ask any questions.

  77. All right, That's that's between you and yourself and God.

  78. But you know, it's also possible for God to orchestrate

  79. a fresh start in our lives. And that's one of

  80. the things that we see happening here in Peter's life. Now,

  81. this is one day in the life of Peter. He

  82. wasn't He's not a rookie fisherman, right, this is not

  83. the first day that is coming to the sea to fish.

  84. Clearly he had been fishing for a very long time.

  85. But this day they didn't or this night they didn't

  86. catch anything. Actually, when I think about it, I think

  87. God was the one who or castrated it that they

  88. didn't catch anything that night. Now imagine the frustration that

  89. Peter had to fish all night and not catch anything.

  90. So here and his.

  91. Friends were washing their nets, you know, to call it

  92. a day, go home, and then come back maybe at

  93. night and see if they could be lucky to catch

  94. some fishes. Now, all of a sudden, there's this person.

  95. I'm not sure that that was the first time he

  96. came across Jesus. But Jesus was speaking and people were

  97. guarding around him, and then I would say he has in.

  98. Jesus had the f country.

  99. To say to Peter, please, could you push your boat

  100. a little bit further into the sea so I could

  101. sit there and speak to these people. Now, I don't

  102. know about you, but if I was Peter, I'm gonna

  103. be like, what did you say? Listen, I've walked all nights.

  104. I this is the last thing I want to hear.

  105. I don't want anybody. I've had enough stress. I don't

  106. want anyone to stress me any further. Okay, But for

  107. some reason he does that, and gee, Jesus gets into

  108. his boat and speaks, and we know that actually Peter,

  109. instead of going home, he actually stayed because he could

  110. have done home. I mean, honestly, I would have just

  111. said to my colleagues, that's what is. When he finishes,

  112. can you just let me pack the boats, I'm going home.

  113. But he stayed. He stayed.

  114. Now what do we see what happened afterwards? Jesus now wants.

  115. Jesus finished peaching.

  116. He now says to him, casts your nets into the

  117. deep and let down your nets for a catch. Verse

  118. five says But Simon answered and said to him, Master,

  119. we have told all night.

  120. Let me say something to us.

  121. It's okay to express your frustrations to God. It's okay.

  122. God can handle it. Yeah, I mean maybe my wife

  123. can't handle it. Certainly my daughter can't handle it. You

  124. see that you need to understand that there's there's some

  125. God is not man. There's a song that we sing.

  126. Wa'ts your song that talks about God is all together lovely? Right?

  127. And God is all together worthy? Do you know that

  128. I cannot say that about my wife? And certainly my

  129. wife can say that about me. I'm certainly not altogether worthy.

  130. I'm certainly not altogether lovely, because sometimes it could be nasty,

  131. all right. So Jesus says, launch altitude deep and let

  132. down your network catch and and Simon answered and said, look, Master,

  133. we have told all night. Now to understand, listen to

  134. what he said. He didn't say.

  135. Mister, man or gentlemen. He said master.

  136. I believe that he called him master because he hung

  137. around to hear everything that Jesus had to say, and

  138. came to a conclusion that there's something different about this man.

  139. And then he calls him Master.

  140. And even though he expressed his frustration and said listen,

  141. we have told all night, he said, nevertheless, at your word,

  142. I would lay down the nets. So it's okay to

  143. express your frustrations. It's okay to complain. In fact, if

  144. you read the psalms, if you read a couple of psalms,

  145. if you see that something, there's some psalms, it starts

  146. with complaints, but it always ends with praise if it

  147. has a particulars time. I don't remember what i'd sum

  148. seventy two or seventy three, it's between seventy and seventy five.

  149. The first line of the psalm is why have you

  150. forsaken us?

  151. O God? And I'm like, how can you be so rude?

  152. I mean, you didn't even start by saying, Oh God,

  153. I praise you.

  154. First line, why have.

  155. You forsaken us? Oh God? But if you read it,

  156. it ended with praise. So it took her to come

  157. with your frustrations. As you kneel in prayer or start

  158. whatever posture prayer you adopt, talk to God and tell

  159. him I'll hurt you up. Maybe a friend hurts you,

  160. or your boss hurts you at work, or the child

  161. is wayward or something. Talk to God about it, and

  162. to talk to God about it. Listen for what God

  163. has to say. Do you understand, because I'm sure you

  164. know that prayer is not just about talking to God.

  165. Right.

  166. I don't know how many of us have heard this saying,

  167. and I think it applies to prayer. It says, the

  168. reason why God gave us two ears and one mouth

  169. is so that our ears will walk twice as much

  170. as our mouth. So speak less, listen more, speak less,

  171. and listen more, because God wants to speak to us,

  172. and we must learn to hear God's voice. I think

  173. that's one of the greatest game changers that we have

  174. as Christians, that God speaks to us.

  175. God.

  176. Yeah, it's good to have a pastor, it's good to

  177. have a vangelist, and all of those people in the offices,

  178. I mean, in the body of Christ. But God has

  179. taken everything that stands in the way, and he wants

  180. to have a relationship with you and I directly. And

  181. here's what a simple and profound way to learn to

  182. hear God's voice is to read the word of God.

  183. And I have an expectation that God will speaks to you.

  184. And the way to expect that God will speaks to

  185. you is to have a pen and paper close by

  186. or a digital pad to write down anything and everything

  187. that God says. And when God speaks to you, he

  188. will bring his word to pass emen. So Simon says, Master,

  189. we have toiled all night and caught nothing. He says, nevertheless,

  190. at your word, I will let down the nets. Nevertheless,

  191. at your word, I will lay down the nets.

  192. Number six says.

  193. And when they had done this, they caught a great

  194. number of fish, and their net was breaking.

  195. Clearly, this is the.

  196. First time they had a net breaking catch. They've never

  197. seen this kind of thing before. And what happened he

  198. had to sink. Now to his other partners, thank god

  199. his partners didn't go home sick. Now to the partners

  200. in the other boat to come and help them. And

  201. when they came and filled both the boats, the boats

  202. began to sink. Now, one of the most profound things

  203. that I see in the scripture is what we find

  204. in verse eighty says And when Simon Peter saw it,

  205. he fell down at Jesus's knees, saying the apart from me,

  206. for I am a sinful man. So many times will

  207. pray for stuff we ask God, no give me this.

  208. We're trusting God for better finances. We're trusting God, you know,

  209. for divine health, for provision and all of that. But

  210. you know, sometimes you could pray for those things and

  211. God could maybe God actually answers those things. And if

  212. we are not careful women actually think that those things

  213. came about due to the strength of our arms, to

  214. the strength of our hands, and.

  215. Will refuse to bring and give glory to God.

  216. But what God did here, what Jesus Christ did here

  217. blew Peter's imagination. He saw himself as unworthy. And I

  218. see that is exactly what worship is about. Worship is

  219. about responding to the worth of God. To understand, I mean,

  220. let me use an example to just explain this.

  221. So imagine if.

  222. I walked into a bank, let's say it just busy

  223. whatever whatever bank it is, and I worked in with

  224. flip flops. I mean, I just worked in like I

  225. look like an ordinary person. And so I walked up

  226. to the tailer and I say, hey, you know what,

  227. I have a problem with my internet banking up, but

  228. I just want to check what my balance is.

  229. Now.

  230. The truth is as a human being that Tella is

  231. going to size me, size me up, and his man

  232. is probably going to think how much.

  233. Could he possibly have in his accounts? Right?

  234. Maybe he'll say maybe two hundred forty seven pounds. So anyway,

  235. he checks the account and it sees that my balance

  236. is one million, five hundred, one thousand, two hundred and

  237. sixty seven pounds.

  238. Do you know that I tell her is going to

  239. look at me differently.

  240. Yeah, he's gonna look at me different He's going to

  241. be like I mean, he's gonna try as much as

  242. possible to contain He's uh his surprise, that is, I mean,

  243. if he, if he, if he or she didn't say

  244. sir the first time, he's gonna say sir. Now do

  245. you understand what I'm saying? One has changed? She just encountered.

  246. She just saw how much I was worth. And that's

  247. exactly what we're seeing here. Worship is about responding to

  248. the worth of God. And that's exactly what Peter saw here.

  249. That Jesus did this great and amazing thing. He saw

  250. his worthiness and he saw his own unworthiness. You know,

  251. what we see here is exactly resonates to what we

  252. saw happen in the Book of Isaiah. Isaiah had prophesied

  253. for five chapters, from chapter one to five, and in

  254. his six chapter he saw the Lord high and lifted up,

  255. and he said, I am a man of unclean lips.

  256. Praise the name of the Lord. So what we see

  257. here is when Peter had his encounter. And I prayed

  258. that every one of us, honestly, I prayed at every

  259. one of us, at one point in our lives will

  260. have an encounter with God. It's so important that God

  261. will grant you and encounter with himself.

  262. And don't forget table leet encounter.

  263. You see, having such an encounter would make it don't

  264. let me say impossible, but almost impossible for you to

  265. ever backslide. Yeah. I remember one day when I was

  266. in school, and I'm bringing my lesson to my message

  267. a close. When I was in the university, I mean

  268. with Sella. We were in the same class. We studied

  269. civil engineering together. And so I went to this fellowship

  270. and I just give him my life to Christ. And

  271. fellowship ended, and there's this lady who just walked up,

  272. walked towards me. She introduced herself. Her name is Lara. Oh,

  273. I'm Lara, I said, my name is Wally. That's she says.

  274. Have you been filled at the Holy Ghost? I'm like,

  275. I'm scared of that name Holy ghosts, I says, no.

  276. I mean I could pray with you right now, you

  277. get fuelled with the Holy Ghost.

  278. Okay.

  279. So we heard hands and as she started praying, and

  280. all of a sudden, it was like my entire body

  281. was on fire from the crowd of my head to

  282. disolve my feet. I can never forget that. I can

  283. never I left fellowship that night. My house was like

  284. twenty five minutes away, and I walked home screaming on

  285. the road, just praying in the spirit. So that's why

  286. I pray that God would grant you and encounter with himself. See,

  287. because we're entering into difficult days the world. No matter

  288. what you say or pray, the world is going to

  289. get darker. But it doesn't mean that you're like, shuldn't shine?

  290. Do you understand that? It doesn't mean that.

  291. I mean, look at the kind of things that have

  292. happened in this world over the last one year, earthquakes, fires, wars, storms,

  293. and it's like all these things are happening with increased rapidity.

  294. Look at the things that have happened this year alone,

  295. and today's just the nineteenth of January. We have to

  296. ask God to help us, to show us a message,

  297. to lead us in the way that we should go.

  298. I want to say to us today, Peter had a

  299. fresh starts. God orchestrated Jesus orchestrated a fresh starts.

  300. Sometimes there might.

  301. Be if you noticed Peter experienced a delay, realize that

  302. he experienced delay, and it was that delay that he

  303. experienced that introduced him into that fresh start. I'm not

  304. saying that you're going to experience the delay. But sometimes

  305. we need to just yield. And one of the things

  306. that we need to say to God is God, just

  307. have your way. Have your way in my life, not

  308. my will, but yours be done. You said, because this Jesus,

  309. this Holy Spirit, he knows more than I know.

  310. You said. We live in a We live in a

  311. part of the world.

  312. Where science reigns, where there's so much knowledge. Oh, we're

  313. moving into the age of artificial intelligence, and I've actually

  314. using it. Sometimes I write a letter. Now I slap

  315. it into AI. It brings out a more beautiful letter.

  316. Right.

  317. We all use Google Map when we're traveling, But let

  318. me tell you something about Google. The Holy Spirit trumps Google. Yeah,

  319. and I'll show you how. So you want to leave

  320. from her to someone up somewhere you're traveling and you say, oh,

  321. you got on Google.

  322. How long it's going to take me? It shows you.

  323. It shows you the root, and the Holy Spirit may

  324. be telling you why don't you take this route? You see,

  325. the Holy Spirit is starting to take that root. Because

  326. Google doesn't know there's going to be an accident on

  327. the road, and because of that accident, that are going

  328. to be delayed. The Holy Spirit knows what is about

  329. to come. He knows all things. And that's why, in

  330. spite of all the AI and everything, let us still

  331. depend and heald to.

  332. The voice of God. Praise the name of Lord.

  333. So, in whatever way you're starting afresh, I want to

  334. say to you today, the Lord has gone ahead.

  335. He has gone ahead of you. Do not be afraid.

  336. Maybe you're just relocated to this part of town or

  337. to this country. Maybe you're back getting married. You know,

  338. a lot of young people are scared of getting married.

  339. You're laughing.

  340. I actually just say it's better to just get it

  341. done with. And that's because there's so much Again, it

  342. comes with influence. You see a lot of people who

  343. are influencers, and maybe their marriage isn't working out well,

  344. but that doesn't mean your shouldn't.

  345. Amen.

  346. Or maybe it's a new job and you're worried and

  347. concerned has this going to turn out? Or maybe it's

  348. starting life after the loss of a loved one.

  349. The rest assured.

  350. The Lord has gone before you, do not fear and

  351. when God, and this is the last thing I want

  352. to say. There are many of us here whom God

  353. has spoken to to do something, maybe some ministry, maybe

  354. it's about listen. I pray that God will grant you

  355. the boldness to do the things that He has told

  356. you to do. Did you hear what I said? I

  357. pray that God will grant you the boldness. You see,

  358. because the way this thing works is that God may

  359. show you the end, but it most times doesn't show

  360. you the steps. So you take one step. Is when

  361. you take one step, there all lights be made available

  362. to you, all right, So.

  363. Take that step. That's what faith is.

  364. Faith doesn't deal with the non faith, deals with your known. Yeah,

  365. so don't be scared because you have the whole of

  366. the god Head with you. Let us pray, Father, I

  367. pray for all of us in this room and those

  368. who are watching online. Lord, I ask of God that

  369. you lead us by your spirit. Thank you, Lord for

  370. the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank your Holy Spirit

  371. for being in our lives. Lead us in the way

  372. that we should go, for that is what you're here

  373. to do in our lives. Show us things to come,

  374. and grant us the bonus to do this thing. To Lord,

  375. all the things that you lay in our heart. In

  376. the Mighty name of Jesus, grant us a fresh start

  377. in the areas that you desire. In the Mighty Name

  378. of Jesus. This morning, I pray. Perhaps there's one person

  379. here who wants to say to Jesus, I need you

  380. in my life. I want to come back to you, Lord,

  381. my Lord, and my God.

  382. I know that you're eager to receive them.

  383. You're eager to wrap your hands around them. Oh, maybe

  384. there's someone who is here today who is burdened by condemnation.

  385. Well speak to that condemnation you Lord, You do not condemn.

  386. Condemnation is of the enemy, and we silence that voice

  387. right now in Jesus' name, and we reiterate the love

  388. of the Father. We declare the love of the Father

  389. over everyone who is going through a part of condemnation

  390. right now, whether they be in this room or whether

  391. they be at home.

  392. We declare to you that the Father loves you.

  393. We declare to you now that the Lord himself feel

  394. the embrace of the Lord.

  395. Right now.

  396. In the mighty name of Jesus, Thank you Father, for

  397. in Jesus' name will pray Amen, hallelujah.
