  1. Well, it's good to be back with you. Welcome to

  2. be that is glad that you're here. If you have

  3. your Bibles turned with me to Act sixteen, and we'll

  4. start in verse six. In just a moment, Act sixteen.

  5. Starting in verse six. The title of my sermon this

  6. morning is how do we follow God with our lives?

  7. How do we follow God with our lives? You know,

  8. we all need directions, right We all need directions for

  9. different things in our life. We need directions for a

  10. recipe cook a meal. We need directions for if we're

  11. learning a new game. If you we were, if you

  12. got a board game, or you got some type of game,

  13. you you follow the instructions on how to play. Again,

  14. we all need different directions on even taking exam. If

  15. we go to school we have exam, on how we

  16. take to the test or what things we're gonna need

  17. for the exam we have. We need directions for all

  18. things in our life. This week, as you many of

  19. you know, we have been. We came back yesterday. I

  20. was out of country for a mission trip. There was

  21. twelve of us, seven from Bethesda and five from the Summit.

  22. We went on a mission trip to eastern Europe and

  23. just I don't remember all my days were running together now,

  24. but just it seemed like just a little bit ago.

  25. I think it was Friday. We landed in Doha, Doha, Qatar,

  26. and it's one of the it's actually the nicest, known

  27. as the nicest airport in the entire world. It is,

  28. but it's huge, it's massive. And we landed in Doha

  29. and got into our gate and I had been there before.

  30. Devin and I have been on the mission trip in

  31. Tanzania and that's where we flew out of there. And

  32. we landed to our gate and we got out and

  33. there's a team of twelve of us. We all kind

  34. of gathered together out the gate and we had when

  35. we'd been before. There was this nice spot in the

  36. airport where there was a burger king. Amen and US

  37. Americans have missed our burgers and there was a burger

  38. king in the KFC and Lufu court and it was

  39. kind of remote. There wasn't as many people there. So

  40. I said to Devin, I think it'd be a good spot.

  41. We have a ten hour layover in Qatar, so it

  42. would be a nice spot for the team to hang out.

  43. Tables are as good bathrooms, all kind of stuff. So

  44. we knew, but from where we were at that point

  45. where we came in on the terminal where we were,

  46. they gay, I had no idea how to get to

  47. where we were to where that spot was. Well, Devon says, well,

  48. I know how to get there. I said, you do.

  49. He said, yeah, I know how to get there. Just

  50. follow me. So I said, take at it, buddy. Now

  51. I will tell you I have an eternal belief within

  52. me that I am good with directions, like there's something

  53. in my spirit that says I can figure it out.

  54. But the reality is, as much as I might feel

  55. I'm good, the reality is I'm horrible. Okay, don't follow

  56. me anywhere. If I say I think we should go

  57. this way, don't say what I think that because my

  58. internal instincts are always off. So I just I got

  59. to the back of the line of our group, and

  60. Devon got to the headline, and I just followed wherever

  61. Devin went, because I knew if you left it up

  62. to me, I would be lost. I would take you

  63. to the wrong spot. We would wander around that airport,

  64. probably for an hour, trying to find that spot where

  65. we were trying to get to. But Devin knew where

  66. to go, and Devin led us our whole group right

  67. to the burger king and I saw the sign. It's wonderful.

  68. I say that because we need directions, and many times

  69. we wander around in our lives because we're following our

  70. own sense of direction. And many times I think it

  71. takes us longer to get to where God wants us

  72. to go because we're following our sense of direction. Do

  73. you know, I really believe God has a starting point

  74. in your life, and God has an ending point in

  75. your life, and in the course of your life, he

  76. has a place of where he wants you to be,

  77. where he wants you to go. But many times we

  78. can get off on what God wants for us because

  79. we're following our own good sense of direction, and many

  80. times our directions are flawed. This morning, as we come

  81. to this passage of scripture, you see Paul and Acts

  82. chapter sixteen, and he's just finished his second missionary journey,

  83. about to start his second and he's traveling. He's traveled

  84. through the first missionary all the churches he's visited on

  85. his first missionary journey's traveled through there, and now he's

  86. about to start his second missionary journey, and he's really

  87. he's kind of like us at the front of that gate. Lord,

  88. I believe I know kind of where you want us

  89. to go. But God, I need you to lead. God,

  90. I need you to get ahead. I need you, God,

  91. to show us where to go, because you know the

  92. right path, you know the best directions. You have the

  93. best directions. And so I believe Paul just said God,

  94. I'm going to follow you. Wherever you lead, I will follow.

  95. And this morning, as we see Paul followed the Lord

  96. with his life, I think we can learn how we

  97. should follow God with our life. And so that's the

  98. goal this morning, how do we follow God with our lives.

  99. Let's stand and read God's word together. It's Acts, chapter sixteen.

  100. Or you just four verses. Don't let that think you

  101. will be a short sermon. I preach to you in

  102. three weeks. So I hope you brought a bad lunch.

  103. Chapter sixteen, tent of verse six its says, and when

  104. they went to the regions of Phrygia and Galatia, having

  105. been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak a word

  106. in Asia, and when they come up to Messia, they

  107. attempt to go to by Athenia, but the spirit of

  108. Jesus did not allow them. Surpassing by Messylia, they went

  109. to true Us and a vision appeared to Paul in

  110. the night of men of Macedonia standing there urging him, saying,

  111. come over to Macedonia and help us. When Paul had

  112. seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia,

  113. concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel

  114. to them. Let's pray together, Father, we need your direction. Lord.

  115. Without you will wander aimlessly. Without you, Lord, will go

  116. the wrong way. We'll do the wrong things. So Lord,

  117. today help us learn how to follow you, Lord, God,

  118. to get give us a spirit that wants, Lord you

  119. to lead us, that searches for your path. This searches

  120. for your direction, that surrenders to your Holy Spirit, Lord,

  121. that listens to your call. So Lord, I pray today, Lord,

  122. may you use your word just as you spoke to Paul,

  123. just as you spoke to your church. God, may you

  124. speak to us today. We gather together as a body believers, Lord,

  125. wanting to hear Lord your voice today. So Lord, I

  126. pray for your Holy Spirit to feel me and pour

  127. me out. Father, Lord, feel this room. Lord with your spirit,

  128. and may you speak to the hearts of your people.

  129. And Lord, I pray you give us openness Lord to

  130. your word and a willingness to respond Lord to it. Lord,

  131. we love you, We thank you Lord for today you name.

  132. We pray, Amen, you may be seated. How do we

  133. follow God with our lives? First we followed God with

  134. our lives. We follow the Holy Spirit. First, we follow

  135. the Holy Spirit with our speech. So here's Paul and

  136. Silas and Timothy, as we saw last week, have joined

  137. Paul on his missionary journey. The Bible tells us verse six,

  138. they went through the regions of Phrygia and Galatia. Galacia

  139. was the region of the first missionary journey. That's if

  140. you look back with us, that's the areas of the

  141. cities of Iconium, Lystra and Derby, or Lystra and Derby

  142. and so on. Those are the area. So we know

  143. that Paul took Timothy and Silas and they went through

  144. and revisited all those churches. And then he tells us

  145. the second area they went through, and this is Phrygia.

  146. Phrygia was a portion of Asia, and so they kind

  147. of going there. I think we have a map, we'll

  148. show you up on the screen, and you could see

  149. there on the right as they go through Syria Aneoxieras

  150. where they started. That's the starting point there. And you

  151. can see they go through Cecilia, which is Tarsius, and

  152. then you can see the gray area there's Galatian. You

  153. see derby Icony and Lystra and that's the areas of

  154. the first missionary journey. As you come to the Antioxassitia,

  155. that was the last area in Glacia. That's with all

  156. the first missionary journey. And now Paul's starting his second

  157. missionary journey, and he's looking for God, where are you

  158. going to lead us next? And who are the people

  159. who we're going to speak to? Where are the churches

  160. that we're going to start. And so he goes to

  161. into Asia. And there's kind of two areas of Asia.

  162. Phrygia is the first part and that's the first area there,

  163. and then you see Missia and that's the second part.

  164. So he goes to Phrygia and he starts in this area.

  165. And look at what the Bible says in verse six,

  166. and when they went through the regions of Phrygia, and Glacia.

  167. Having forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the Word

  168. in Asia, they get into this new area of Asia,

  169. and the region of Asia called Phrygia, and the Bible

  170. says that the whole Spirit forbids Paul to speak. Now,

  171. if you've just walked with us, now, we've been preaching

  172. through the Book of Acts for over a year now,

  173. and if you scanned Thelize, just few chapters of Acts,

  174. one thing you'll learn about Paul is Paul is never

  175. short for words, right. And as you look in Acts

  176. thirteen and fourteen, as he become the leader of this

  177. missionary journey in every city, when they preached to Lystra

  178. derby Iconium, Paul was the very first one to deliver

  179. the message of the Gospel to these new areas. So

  180. he was passionate about preaching in Lystra. When he preached there,

  181. the people of the city had not heard the Gospel,

  182. and they were Greek, and they called Paul Hermes, which

  183. was the god of language. So he talked so much

  184. they said, you must be the God of language. I mean,

  185. the man loved to talk, he loved to preach. And

  186. Acts fifteen he spoke not only to the people of

  187. these new areas. But in Acts fifteen we saw Paul

  188. was the one who spoke up to the Judaizers in

  189. in Oxyria, we saw Paul is the one who spoke

  190. up to the Jerusalem Council. In Acts fifteen we see

  191. Paul is never short for words. We even see that

  192. even with his brother Varnabas when they disagreed, he spoke

  193. up about his beliefs about John Mark. Paul is never

  194. short for words. He's always willing to speak for God

  195. when God calls him to speak.

  196. And now he comes to a.

  197. New area, probably on fire for what God has done.

  198. God's expanded the church through a new area.

  199. He's about to go into a new area he's never

  200. heard of the gospel, and Holy Spirit says.

  201. No, Paul, don't speak.

  202. I mean, that's like me as much as I like

  203. to preach, and God telling me I can't preach. That's

  204. exactly what happened here. But listen for Paul following God

  205. with his life. Met God, I'll follow the Holy Spirit

  206. with my speech. So God, when you tell me to speak,

  207. I'll speak. But God, when you tell me no, I'll

  208. oll Obay. You know, it's important that as we follow

  209. God with our lives that we follow God with our speech.

  210. Sometimes we think directionally God, what decisions am I making?

  211. What actions am I taking? But how do we think

  212. in our lives of God? How are you leading in

  213. what I say? And when I should speak, maybe to

  214. an unbeliever, and when I shouldn't speak. I think it's

  215. weird to think about. For Paul, it's very important when

  216. I follow God in my life and only with my

  217. directions and decisions I'm making with my line, but also

  218. it means for what I say, what I do with

  219. my mouth. You know, the Bible says so much about speaking,

  220. and it's not all important what we say, but how

  221. we say it. Heard of a woman she was traveling

  222. abroad for without her husband, and she was in Paris,

  223. and this was before the phones and emails and all

  224. the modern technology. Now it's back the days when it

  225. had telegram. And she was in Paris and she found

  226. this beautiful bracelet, and so she thought she needed to

  227. reach out to her husband back in America and find

  228. out if it's okay for him to for her to

  229. buy it. So she sent a telegram to him and

  230. she says, I found this beautiful bracelet. It's the one

  231. I've been looking for in my whole life. The cost

  232. is only seven five hundred. Do you think I can

  233. buy it? Her husband got the wire and he was

  234. quickly wanted to respond back, so he sent a very

  235. short response. He says, no comma, price too high. He

  236. signed his name by, but in the transmission the comma

  237. was left out and the message read no price too high.

  238. She was thrilled emitting the comma almost put him into

  239. a coma.

  240. You know what we say is really you know.

  241. The Bible says a lot about what we say and

  242. how we should say it. Scripture talks about how the

  243. Holy Spirit should instruct our speech and Luke Jesus teaching

  244. his disciples. In Luke chapter twelve, he says, when you

  245. bring you before the sin of gods and the rulers

  246. and authorities, don't be anxious for what you're about. So

  247. how you should defend yourself what you should say, for

  248. the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour

  249. what you are to say. You know, the Holy Spirit

  250. should god our speech. We should depend upon the Holy

  251. Spirit to provide us what to say in the moments

  252. when we are being a witness for him. Holy Spirit

  253. should instruct our speech. Scripture talks about God guarding our speech.

  254. Passes like Psalm forty one to three says, set a

  255. guardle Lord over my mouth, keep watch over the door

  256. of my lips. How are you allowing the Holy Spirit

  257. to instruct your speech? How are you allowing God to

  258. guard your speech saying only things that would edify the Lord,

  259. to bring honor to the Lord. How Our scripture also

  260. talks about Jesus judging our speech. You know, the Bible

  261. says in Matthew twelve, Jesus said in thirty six and

  262. thirty seven, I tell you, on the day of judgment,

  263. people will give an account for every careless word they speech.

  264. For by your words you'll be justified, and by your

  265. words you'll be condemned. You know, it's important if we

  266. want to follow the Lord with our lives, that we

  267. follow the Holy Spirit with our speech when we should speak,

  268. and what we should say when we speak. I ask

  269. you today, you following the Lord with your life and

  270. part of that, or you follow the Lord with your speech,

  271. you fall in the Holy Spirit to guide you in

  272. your speech. Think, if we want to learn today how

  273. to follow God with our lives, we follow Paul's example

  274. allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our speech. But secondly,

  275. if how do we follow God with our lives, we

  276. follow the Holy Spirit with our speech. Secondly, we follow

  277. Jesus with our direction. It's interesting as you go back

  278. to that map, Paul is making his way through Asia

  279. and he's Phrygia and the Bible prevents him to speak.

  280. He gets to miss Up, which is about a little

  281. over halfway. And look what the Bible says in verse

  282. seven of this passage of scripture. When he had come

  283. up to Missia, they attempted to go to Bythenia, but

  284. the spirit of Jesus did not allow him.

  285. So you can kind of imagine Paul's getting a little antsy.

  286. Okay, you know, he's going through this area, goes to Asia,

  287. wants to share the gospel with him. The Holy Spirit

  288. says no, and he says, you know, I really want

  289. to go.

  290. I want to go east here.

  291. I want to go to Bythenia, which is another area

  292. he seeks. The Lord says, I.

  293. Really want to do this is really where I want

  294. to go.

  295. I can't really share the gospel here, but maybe I

  296. should go this way, And that was his desire that's

  297. where he wanted to go.

  298. If you see the map, and Scripture.

  299. Says in verse seven, But the spirit of Jesus isn't

  300. that interesting? You see the Holy Spirit God his speech,

  301. but now Jesus.

  302. Is guiding his direction. Can I tell you if we want.

  303. To follow the Lord with our lives or God with

  304. our lives, we must allow the Holy Spirit to We

  305. must follow the Holy Spirit with our speech, but we

  306. must follow Jesus with our direction. You know, there's many

  307. times in our life we really are determined we want

  308. to go a certain way. We really might much like Paul,

  309. I really want to do this God, I really want.

  310. To go this way.

  311. And how many times does the spirit or maybe Jesus

  312. says none, no, no, DA shouldn't do that. But we're determined, no, no, no no,

  313. I want to do what I want to do, and

  314. we follow our past. Here for Paul, he surrendered to

  315. Jesus's direction for his life. You know, you think about

  316. Jesus and Mare. We did a study just a few

  317. years ago in Mark. If you remember, in Mark chapter one,

  318. Jesus is in the send of God. He preaches his

  319. first sermon and the send of God, and there after

  320. the sermon and he after he heals a demon possessed man,

  321. he goes to Peter's home and Peter's mother in law sick.

  322. I wonder if you remember this story, and Jesus reaches

  323. out and prays for her and he heals her. And

  324. after it heals her at the root, the word gets

  325. out that he heals this Peter's mother in law so

  326. much so the people of the city bring all the

  327. sick to Jesus that night and they're at outside, just

  328. covered outside of Peter's house.

  329. They're just sick. And that night Jesus goes to one

  330. on one.

  331. If you go back and read this passage with me,

  332. you can go see it in Mark Mark throughout the

  333. end of kind of thirty six and on or thirty

  334. and on. Jesus goes one by one and he touches

  335. his on him. You remember that. Well, that night, about

  336. four o'clock in the morning, scripture says, Jesus gets out

  337. away from the town, away from peter home, and he's praying.

  338. The next morning, the disciples get up and they're looking

  339. for Jesus, and the Bible says that outside of Peter's

  340. home again, the people have gathered again to be healed. Well,

  341. they're frantic. All these people are waiting. All the people

  342. want to see Jesus. All these people want to be healed.

  343. Disciples are friend that they're looking for him all over

  344. the place. And they go out into this remote place

  345. and they find Jesus praying. And I want you to

  346. see what happened in Mark, chapter one, verse thirty six,

  347. and it says Simon, those who were searching for him,

  348. they found him and says, everyone's looking for you. And

  349. he said to them, let us go on to the

  350. next town that I might preach there also, for that

  351. is why I came out. So he went through all

  352. of Galilee, preaching in the sin of gods and casting

  353. out demons. They go to find Jesus and all the

  354. people back at Peter's house are waiting to be healed.

  355. You can kind of get a sense of disciples. All right,

  356. We've got to get back, man. We got some great

  357. things happening here at Peter's house. And Jesus says, he

  358. I'm going in another direction. I know that's important, but

  359. this is what God's leading me to do. You see,

  360. the disciples had one plan. Jesus had was following God's

  361. direction and many times in our life. Listen, we have

  362. our plans, what we think is right. How how much

  363. are we willing to like Christ and like Paul says, Lord,

  364. this may be a good path, but it may not

  365. be your path. And Lord, I want your path. I

  366. want your direction from my life. And how much are

  367. we willing, Let's be honest, how much are we willing

  368. to search out Jesus's path for us? Of the great

  369. things about hanging out with people in the mission field,

  370. as we had some conversations this week and hear in

  371. store worries heard a story this week. We talk a

  372. lot about unreached people groups, unreached people groups her people

  373. who live in our world who have little to no

  374. access to the Gospel. That means they may take two

  375. or three days, maybe even a month to travel from

  376. where they lived to find someone who knows who Jesus is.

  377. Heard a story from a friend this week and he

  378. was in a very Muslim area, and there's a story.

  379. There was a woman and she was one night she

  380. had a dream and in her dream she was she

  381. was surrounded by dark beings and the dark beings had

  382. her chained or to the chair and they were attacking

  383. her and the dream a being of light came to

  384. her and the dark beings fled. The woman, living in

  385. an unreached people area where there was surrounded by muslim

  386. and no Christianity and no access to Jesus, woke up

  387. from the dream and says, I much found Jesus. Never

  388. heard of Jesus before she got up that morning, and

  389. for two hours that day she searched door to door.

  390. She searched looking for someone who knew Jesus, who'd never

  391. heard of Jesus. Finally, at the end of two hours,

  392. she found one person and she said, they said, yeah,

  393. I've heard of that Jesus and once I've heard someone

  394. talking about it. And if you go to this house,

  395. I've heard that person say that name. Before the lady

  396. went to the house knocking on the door, true story,

  397. knocking on the door. The people opened up the door

  398. and as they met the person, they said, we have

  399. been praying for the last listen to this, the last

  400. two hours for you to come. They led her to

  401. the Lord and she found Jesus that day. Listen. What

  402. if she had got up from that dream and says,

  403. you know, I just I just ate something bad. Just

  404. had a little heartburn. I shouldn't ate that food last night. No,

  405. She searched for Jesus this direction in her life, and

  406. when Jesus led her, she followed. Listen, when God's calling you,

  407. when God's leading you, when God's directing you. It may

  408. not make sense, it may not be comfortable, it may

  409. seem out of the ordinary, it may seem crazy. But

  410. many times the simplest thing for us to do is

  411. just say, God, what you lead me to do? I'll

  412. follow Lord you Jesus with my life. Can I ask

  413. you today as we look at how do you follow

  414. God with our lives? What's the direction of your life today?

  415. What are what directions and what desires are you following?

  416. Are you following Jesus with your life? Is Jesus guiding

  417. the direction of your life? And are you willing to

  418. search for Jesus's direction for your life? Paul was looking

  419. for Jesus' direction. How about you as we look this morning,

  420. Let's look at the third thing this morning? How do

  421. we follow God with our lives? We follow the Holy

  422. Spirit with our speech, we follow Jesus with our direction.

  423. And lastly, one of the things I think is beautiful

  424. about this pastor of scripture is see the Father's son

  425. in the Holy spirit. You see God, the Father lasts.

  426. How do we follow God with the lives? We follow

  427. God with our life. Paul goes to miss Yah. He

  428. really wants to go by Athenaea. Jesus, the spirit of

  429. Jesus says no. In verse nine it says Paul has

  430. a vision, a lot like that woman. In Verse nine

  431. says the vision appeared to Paul in the night. A

  432. man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him, saying, come

  433. over to Macedonia and help us. And when Paul had

  434. seen the vision, immediately he sought to go up to Macedonia,

  435. concluding that God had called us to preach the Gospel

  436. to us and should go back to the map. Paul,

  437. if you Paul goes all the way through Asia.

  438. He got halfway to Missia.

  439. He felt like you should go to Bathenia, go Rite,

  440. or go north if you will, God said, Jesus says no.

  441. He goes all the way to the end, never shares

  442. one word, never says anything, does it share. The Gospel

  443. goes all the way through It comes to Troas at

  444. the very end of the city. The kind of a

  445. a city on the coast, and there that night he

  446. hears he sees a vision of a man from Macedonia,

  447. which is across to see there the Mediterranean Sea into Macedonia.

  448. He hears a Macedonia man calling, come help us. Scripture

  449. says in this passive scripture, when Paul saw the vision,

  450. he sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that God had

  451. called him to preach. You can almost sense that in

  452. this passage of scripture, all along Paul was wont to

  453. do what he wanted to do first, wanted to go

  454. to Asia first, want to share the gospel. Holy Spirit

  455. said No, goes into Messiah. Halfway through Asia says, well,

  456. if that doesn't work, I'll go to Bythenias Plan B.

  457. God says no, he goes to trueass And now God

  458. gives him a call. And I love this part because

  459. here in this passage of scripture, Paul sees a vision

  460. and the vision is a man in Macedonia calling for help.

  461. You know this is my interpretation or my imagination maybe,

  462. but I really wonder today, in this passage of scripture,

  463. who's the Macedonia man calling? Is he calling to Paul? No?

  464. I believe he's called to God. He's calling to God.

  465. God come and help us, and God sent Paul to

  466. be his messenger. That God knew hear me today. God

  467. knew that there was a man in Macedonia that needed

  468. the good news of Jesus, and God sent Paul to

  469. be that messenger. He heard the call. I believe there's

  470. people all over our world today, across our world here

  471. calling just like the Macedonia man seeking God, calling for

  472. God to come help. And it may mean that He

  473. sends us to go to answer that call, to be

  474. God's messing. It may be a place that we don't

  475. want to go. It may be a place that's not

  476. easy to get to, but God may call us. And

  477. if He calls us, will we go. I mentioned to

  478. you at the beginning of the message that we were

  479. away this last week on a mission trip to eastern Europe.

  480. We were ministering to Curtis refugee children. Interesting story about

  481. this trip was back in the early spring, we connected

  482. with our ministry partner in the area and we were

  483. trying to plan out what we would do on our

  484. seven days there, and he told us about these Curtis

  485. refugee children. These refugee children. He told us at that

  486. time they lived near the dump and they would take

  487. things that they got from the dump. Their parents would

  488. to make their houses and these children were required by

  489. their parents to back and also sell the things that

  490. they would steal to make money for the family. And

  491. so we we we've heard about these kids. We heard

  492. that they were also were not in school, and we

  493. also heard that it was illegal to bag in that

  494. city that they were that we visited in eastern Europe,

  495. it was illegal and to the police called them, they

  496. would deport them. So but in that city there was

  497. this mission there's this mission house. In this mission house

  498. would feed these children every day and and do some

  499. teaching to them. So the mission was, we understood it

  500. is that we would go into this city. We would

  501. go in this mission house and we would help serve

  502. a meal and we would care for these children.

  503. There were about forty children that were there.

  504. So that was the plan. That was the mission. That's

  505. what we thought was what God was going to do.

  506. We were excited. We had some directions. Let's go, and

  507. about August we called the missionary see how things were going,

  508. a mission partner.

  509. What was things looking like?

  510. How what was going to be details, what were things

  511. that we needed to do.

  512. In August.

  513. He told us that the police had came in and

  514. they had gotten a lot of the children, and there

  515. were very little children left. He wasn't sure that we

  516. were even going to be able to do anything now.

  517. So the best bad at this point was for us

  518. to wait to the end of September and to find

  519. out if we were even going to be able to

  520. do the ministry in the mission house. So wait till

  521. the end of September. Now, mind you, we were leaving

  522. August fourth, end of September. It is only two weeks away.

  523. But let's call. Let's do a call back and see

  524. where we were on September twenty two weeks from when

  525. we were to leave out. We get a call there

  526. are roughly ten to fifteen children left left from forty

  527. about five families are left. But we're going to be

  528. able to minister these children every day from Mondays to

  529. Thursday from one to five, and that we needed to

  530. fill that four hour period of time with games, with

  531. Bible lessons, with crafts.

  532. So we thought, this is great, this is a good plan.

  533. There's not forty of them, there's only ten of them.

  534. But hey, we've got a plan.

  535. We're going to be able to miss them.

  536. Let's go.

  537. So we get there. We for two weeks.

  538. We crammed. We got Bible plans, we got game plans,

  539. we got craft plans. We get to the center on Monday.

  540. I believe there's around seven kids there. They eat first,

  541. and then it just became just pure chaos.

  542. To be honest with you, the kids were out of control.

  543. They were throwing fits when they didn't get their way.

  544. At one point, I believe it was during Bible time.

  545. Of the boys came in the middle of the Bible

  546. time and just hit one of the other boys. He

  547. took off running outside the center. The other two the

  548. boy that got hit and his brother, who was like

  549. maybe one, I mean like first grade, they both took

  550. off and they went outside and they were throwing haymakers

  551. at you. We had to separate them. The kids were

  552. we couldn't We couldn't get them still for one moment

  553. to do any kind of organized thing. We get through

  554. the end of the day, it's just been chaos. We

  555. couldn't do anything. We planned any any games, any crafts, anything,

  556. hardly that we planned it all in that time period,

  557. the whole team, twelve of us, were just exhausted, like, I.

  558. Don't know if this is gonna work.

  559. Are we doing more damage than good. We came together

  560. since we're going to sit to it another day. The

  561. next day, there were three children there. Most of the

  562. other kids were with their parents doing some paperwork something

  563. for the government. We weren't sure. We found out from

  564. the ministry leader who was leading that center came to

  565. us and says, you know what, I think the best

  566. thing for you to do is, let's not do this.

  567. Let's not come here tomorrow. Let's go to their city.

  568. Let's go to their village, and let's do the Bible,

  569. the games and everything right in their village. There's a

  570. chance to reach more of the kids, to maybe reach

  571. the moms. So we forgot our plans, we forgot our details,

  572. we forgot everything that we thought we had planned ready

  573. to go, and we went to the village. We got there,

  574. we gave them, we'd served the meal to them, and

  575. we had the ladies in one area and the children

  576. and the other. We shared a Bible story and we

  577. had five ladies that were there for five mamas, and

  578. as we had one of our team members sharing the

  579. Bible with our students. We had a lady from our

  580. team share a testimony in the Bible passage with those ladies,

  581. those mamas, and she said to them, listen to this.

  582. Do you want to receive Jesus. One of the ladies says,

  583. I do, And she led that lady to the Lord. Now,

  584. after that mama prayed to receive Jesus. Another mom came

  585. up says, I want to receive Jesus, And one by one,

  586. five ladies received Jesus Christ as in one savior. I

  587. tell you that because we had all our plans, we

  588. had all our directions, we had all the things that

  589. we thought we wanted to do. But God had another plan.

  590. You know, one thing that I have learned that I

  591. think we see so faithfully in scripture. His ways are

  592. so much greater than our ways. You know, the Bible

  593. says in Isaiah fifty five to nine.

  594. For as a heaven are higher than the earth, So

  595. my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts

  596. than your thoughts. You know, His ways are greater than

  597. our ways. His plans are better than our plans. You know,

  598. God brought listened to me this morning God brought Paul

  599. across a country to lead him to a people that

  600. needed to hear the gospel.

  601. Listen to me today. Last week God led twelve people

  602. from Durham here across the world to take the gospel

  603. to a people who needed to hear. And we were

  604. able to share that love, that message, that gospel with them.

  605. And see five moms received Jesus the last day in

  606. the village and I asked, Abandon, you want to make

  607. your way up last day in the village that he

  608. had our ministry partners were talking with the ladies. As

  609. I told you before, the police are trying to catch

  610. the children because it's illegal to beg catch.

  611. Them and deport them.

  612. That deported over majority of the children and the families

  613. in I think may or June again, there's like five

  614. families left. There's like eleven children. We found out that

  615. as the minisitary partners were talking with the ladies remaining

  616. listen to this, we found out that all those mamas

  617. and all those children are about to be deported and

  618. they're going to be deported back. Listen to this. They're

  619. going to be deported back to their home country, which

  620. is a closed country with no access to the gospel.

  621. You know when they're going to be deported October twentieth.

  622. If we'd went ten days later, they would have never heard.

  623. If we were stopped on Monday and just said, this

  624. is not working. This is not good, this is not

  625. working out. They're too misbehave there too. It's too difficult.

  626. We can't handle the behavior. We don't. We don't can't.

  627. We can't talk to them in their language. This is

  628. too hard, God, this is not what we signed up for.

  629. This must be easy trip. If we would have stopped,

  630. they never heard the good News of Jesus.

  631. But when we just say God, God, I'll follow you.

  632. I'll let the Holy Spirit lead my speech.

  633. God, I'll follow your direction even when.

  634. It doesn't make sense.

  635. And God, I'll follow you with my life.

  636. Why you called me to do, God, I will surrender

  637. even if it's not comfortable, if it's not what I

  638. signed up for. God, I'll give you my life. You know,

  639. I really belie believe God's gonna call people from our church.

  640. Listen to me. I believe God's gonna call people in

  641. our church into the ministry. I believe God's gonna raise

  642. up a pastor, a minister, you say, well, now I

  643. have business plans, I have this what I want to

  644. do with my life, and God's gonna call someone else

  645. out from that to it's something else, totally different. God's

  646. gonna do it. If God calls you to do it,

  647. would you surrender? I believe God's gonna call missionaries out

  648. of our church. We've been praying for it every Thursday,

  649. that God would grow our church that.

  650. He might send us out.

  651. I believe God's gonna raise up full time missionaries like

  652. He's done in the past, people who will give up

  653. their life, sacrifice their comforts of living in America to

  654. live in a foreign land, to share the gospel, the

  655. good news of Jesus with people who are calling calling God. God.

  656. God will send somebody, send somebody. I need you, God,

  657. and God's gonna send people right from our church to go.

  658. It's not gonna make sense, it's not gonna be comfortable,

  659. it's not gonna be what they want to do.

  660. But God's gonna call.

  661. When there's gonna be those who will say, ill surrender.

  662. I believe God's gonna call more people to go on

  663. short term mission trips like we did this last week,

  664. and that may be you. God's We're going to plan

  665. some trips in the next year. And you're gonna say, Pastor,

  666. I don't have money to do.

  667. That, I don't have the skills to do that. But

  668. I'm telling you God's gonna call.

  669. And I just ask you. As God calls you, would

  670. you follow him? Will you follow him with your speech?

  671. Will you follow him with the direction of your life?

  672. Will you follow him with all your life when it calls?

  673. Whatever God's calling you, leading you, speaking to you today,

  674. would you follow him today? Let's stand and let's pray together,

  675. Father Lord. This is your day, this is your word,

  676. this is your time. Lord. I pray today we would

  677. have a spirit of surrender, saying God, Lord, I want you,

  678. I want to follow you with my life. What's my speech,

  679. with my directions? With all of me? Lord, I surrender

  680. Lord to you or we love you. I thank you

  681. Lord for what you done here today. Oh God, may

  682. you lead us? Father Lord. I pray there's someone today

  683. that their life is on the wrong path. I pray

  684. there would be day there would be those who'd hear

  685. your call and to hear the message of your Holy Spirit,

  686. to hear your voice Jesus, and I pray those would

  687. be some would turn back to you God, surrender Lord

  688. to your calling on them. Lord. However, Lord, you lead

  689. us today. Lord, I pray God, we would follow Lord

  690. you or we thank you Lord for a pause example.

  691. And Lord, today I pray we would surrender to your

  692. calling on us, your Spirit's leading in us. Lord, may

  693. we be a people who follow you God. In your name,

  694. we pray, ess

  695. And all to Him,
