  1. For you to be there.

  2. If you have your Bibles, you'll turn with me to

  3. Isaiah Isaiah chapter eight. This morning, she'll turn there with me.

  4. We're continuing our series called Messianic Gifts. And in this

  5. series we've been looking at the prophecies of Isaiah and

  6. how Christ fulfilled the promises that God gave to his

  7. people Israel in Jesus, and how when Jesus came, he

  8. fulfilled these Messianic promises. These Messianic promises, we're gifts, gifts

  9. that God would give Israel through this Messiah, and we've

  10. been looking through that. You know, as we come in

  11. we think a lot about gifts, and this time of

  12. the year with Christmas, we gifts are a big part

  13. of our minds and we're thinking a lot about what

  14. gifts we're going to buy. Hey, we're getting pretty close here,

  15. So if you've not done that, it'd probably be good

  16. to start, especially if you're married and you have a spouse,

  17. you need to start. You know, buying gifts is difficult.

  18. And you know Brandy, when I buy gifts for her, normally,

  19. brandis like she's really easy.

  20. Most of the time.

  21. She's I'll ask and say, hey, what are some things

  22. that you want for Christmas, and she'll you know, write down.

  23. A few things and send me a few things.

  24. And most of the time, you know, I'm just man,

  25. I'm easy, you know, happy mama, happy life, right, happy wife,

  26. happy life. So I'm like, let's just go with what's

  27. on the list, not buried from the list, just to

  28. get what she wants.

  29. Right. So this year, you know, I didn't get a list.

  30. She did, she didn't send me a list.

  31. So she's got the most random gifts that you can

  32. ever imagine this year for Christmas. Most of the time,

  33. Brady is really good about picking out what I get

  34. her for Christmas. This year, she ain't got a chance

  35. because she didn't send me a list, and so she's

  36. just got a bunch of random things.

  37. But you know, when you.

  38. Think about buying a gift, you want them just to

  39. give you a list because it kind of makes it easier.

  40. You kind of know what they want. You don't have

  41. to guess what.

  42. They want you, you know, and you you know, if

  43. they don't give you a list, you're you're kind of thinking,

  44. you know.

  45. Maybe this will they like this gift?

  46. You know, will they really want that toaster? I didn't

  47. get her a toaster, you know, but will they really

  48. like it?

  49. But if you know what they want, it makes it

  50. a lot easier, right, so you know, don't worry.

  51. I took her somewhere real nice this Saturday, and she

  52. bought the rest of her Christmas.

  53. I took her.

  54. SAMs and she picked out a bunch of bunch of things.

  55. But I say that to say, at times, do you

  56. kind of feel that with the Lord? Maybe there's some

  57. times in your life where you're really seeking for answers

  58. from the Lord. There's some problems, some things in your

  59. happening in your life. Maybe there's some decisions that you're

  60. making in your life, and you just kind of feel like,

  61. you know what, Lord, this would be a lot easier

  62. if you would just tell me what you want.

  63. If you just tell me what you want.

  64. From my life, then I would just do what you

  65. asked of me or want for me, and then this

  66. would be simple. But at times you feel like, Lord,

  67. I don't know what you want from me.

  68. I don't know what you want for my life.

  69. So therefore it's kind of like guess work of guessing

  70. at getting a gift. I'm guessing I'm making decisions, and

  71. I'm not sure, Lord, whether you'll be pleased with my

  72. decisions or whether you won't.

  73. Be pleased with my decisions. God, it would just be

  74. easier if you would just tell me.

  75. If you would just write it down and tell me

  76. exactly what you want me to do, this would be

  77. a whole lot easier. Maybe today you're you're wrestling with

  78. some decisions. Maybe it's a career decision. Maybe there's what

  79. school you're going to go to for our students. Maybe

  80. you're wrestling with the decision that you and your spouse

  81. are making.

  82. Or maybe this is a decisions.

  83. About what you as your spouse, or just determining for

  84. a decision for your child. Maybe it's decision about a

  85. relationship issue that you're having conflict with with a family member,

  86. and you're looking at what's the right decision?

  87. Lord, what would you want me to do with this relationship?

  88. Maybe it's a decision, or maybe it is, Lord, I

  89. wish i'd knew some answer to some things that happened

  90. in my life. Lord, I don't know why they died.

  91. I don't know why they had to die so young.

  92. Maybe it is, Lord, I don't know why did I

  93. get cancer, or why do I have this? Or Lord,

  94. why do I battle with anxiety? And why do I

  95. battle with depression?

  96. Lord? I just wish you'd tell me, Lord, if I

  97. just had answers to the things in my life, it

  98. wouldn't be a lot easier. So just tell me.

  99. As we come to this passage in Isaiah, we're looking

  100. at a passage of scripture where people are looking for answers.

  101. And in this.

  102. Pastor of scripture we see how they look for the

  103. answers to life's questions. We're in our second we're in

  104. our third part of this Christmas series. As I mentioned

  105. Messianic gifts, and this morning, I really want to look

  106. at Isaiah chapter eight and how God promised in Isaiah

  107. talked in Isaiah eight, but led.

  108. Into chapter nine and the promise that God gave Israel.

  109. You see Israel at this time, as you remember, just

  110. a few weeks ago, we're in Isaiah chapter seven, and

  111. where we're going to in this passage of scripture Isaiah

  112. chapter seven, there was a king who had questions. If

  113. you remember that a few Sundays ago we talked about

  114. this and the king was and a has the problem

  115. that had came upon a has Is. The Bible describes

  116. a has and the people of Israel were shaken. They

  117. were like trees. Scripture describes shaking in the wind. The

  118. hearts of the people of the king. The hearts of

  119. the people and the heart of the king was shaking.

  120. And the reason why they were shaking because two nations,

  121. Syria and the Northern Israel, which was called Israel at

  122. the time, had formed an alliance and they were threatening

  123. that they were come and destroy Southern Judah, which king.

  124. Ah Has was the king of Southern Judah.

  125. And so they were shaking over this so much so

  126. they wanted answers what should they do about this? And

  127. God actually gives a has just what we were talking about.

  128. He spoke to him directly. He told him exactly what

  129. he wanted to do. The Bible says in Isaiah chapter seven,

  130. he sent a prophet named Isaiah to a has the king, and.

  131. He told a has A Has these two, these two.

  132. Kings, the king of Syria and the King of Israel,

  133. and these nations, it will not last.

  134. Their threats will not come to pass. Just trust in me.

  135. He told him exactly what he wanted, what he wanted

  136. to do.

  137. The Bible says a Has so much he wanted to

  138. affirm to a Has that these two kingdoms would not

  139. stand and their threats would not come to pass.

  140. That he told a Has, listen to this.

  141. Ask for a sign, any sign, anything, and I'll give

  142. it to you as a sign of what I said

  143. is true. The Bible says that a Has says, I

  144. don't want anything from you, Lord, I don't want to sign,

  145. And the Bible says he did not trust in the

  146. word of the Lord. Instead, a Has decided he do

  147. something different. He trusted in his power. The Bible says

  148. the second Kings, if you could read this passive scripture

  149. Second King sixteen, that he formed alliance and he sent

  150. money to the King of Assyria, which was the world

  151. power at the time, and formed alliance with another kingdom,

  152. that that King Assyria and the nation of Assyria would

  153. protect Judah if a war came. The Bible says, the

  154. Lord was displeased with King King a Haas and the

  155. people of visual and therefore he says, I'm gonna give

  156. you a sign. I'm gonna give you a sign of

  157. a sign that you weren't asking for. And that sign

  158. is that your's gonna be a child that's gonna be born,

  159. and his name is Emmanuel. And for I really believe,

  160. and this is a question maybe you had a few

  161. weeks ago when we came to Isaiah chapter seven, I

  162. really believe during a had I mean during King A

  163. has his time, there was a child that was born,

  164. and that.

  165. Child would be called Emmanuel.

  166. And for Isaiah's time and for A has his time,

  167. that Emmanuel was it Emmanuel God with us in peace.

  168. It was Emmanuel God with us in judgment. He tells

  169. A Has the king that you formed alliance with, I

  170. promise you that I'm gonna take that king.

  171. And the king that you trusted in is going to

  172. be the king who comes against you, and he's going

  173. to destroy your land.

  174. He's going to cross over the northern part of Israel,

  175. and he's going to destroy Israel because you've trusted in

  176. man and trustead of trusting in God. As we come

  177. to Isaiah chapter eight, Isaiah's reminding is he's showing us

  178. what would happen in those days and when darkness would

  179. come into land over war, a war that would take

  180. over the northern part of Israel, and lives would be

  181. lost and people would carry it in captivity. He's showing

  182. that in the time of darkness, what will people do,

  183. what answers? Where will they look for answers in times

  184. of trouble? And so this morning, I want to look

  185. at what people will do when the darkness come. And

  186. I want you to see in the midst of the rebellion,

  187. how they seek instead of seeking God, they seek other means.

  188. And this morning, in this you'll see two promises of

  189. this gift. And this morning we're looking at the gift

  190. of God's life.

  191. Light. Two promises of God's gift of life. Let's light.

  192. Let's stand together, and let's look at it together.

  193. In Isaiah chapter eight, and we're gonna pick up in

  194. verse sixteen. This morning, Isaiah says, and he's talking about

  195. these times to come. He says, this words to the

  196. words the people of Issuel, bind up the testimony, steal

  197. the teaching among my disciples. I will wait for the

  198. Lord who's hiding his face from the house of Jacob.

  199. I will hope in him. But hold I and the

  200. children whom the Lord has given me are signs and

  201. portunence in Israel from the Lord of Hosts, who dwell

  202. in Mount Zion, and they will say to you, inquire

  203. of mediums and necromancers who chirp and mutter. Should not

  204. a people will inquire of their God? Should they inquire

  205. of the dead? On behalf of the living. To the

  206. teaching and to the testimony, they will not speak according

  207. to the word. It's because they have no dawn. They

  208. pass through the land greatly distressed and hungry. And when

  209. they're hungry, they will be enraised and will speak contipuously

  210. against their king and their God, and turn their faces upward,

  211. and they will look to the earth. But beyond distress

  212. and darkness, the gloom of anguish. They'll be thrust into

  213. thick darkness. But there will be no gloom for her

  214. who was in English. And the former time he brought

  215. into contempt the land of Zebelem, the land of Nephtili.

  216. But in the latter time he made a glorious way

  217. of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan galilee of

  218. the nations.

  219. And the people who walk in darkness have seen a

  220. great light.

  221. Those who dwell on the land of deep darkness, on

  222. them a light has shown. Let's pray together, Lord, we

  223. love you, We thank you, Lord, for this morning. And Lord,

  224. we come here today, Lord to study your word of Isaiah,

  225. to look at your passages in the New Testament.

  226. And Lord we seek answers. Lord.

  227. There's many people in the sound of my voice there

  228. and a period of darkness of their life may be lost,

  229. or they're a period of where they're looking for answers

  230. from you. And today Lord, we come united and together

  231. and the Lord, that's the look to your word for answers. Lord,

  232. just as your light shone that day when Jesus came,

  233. as your word was spoken in Isaiah's time, Lord, may

  234. your word today be spoken.

  235. Lord.

  236. May your light shine in this place today. And may

  237. Lord we look to you. May we seek your word.

  238. May we hide your words in our hearts today. Lord,

  239. I pray that just as you filled the lips of Isaiah,

  240. as you filled his heart with your word, May you

  241. feel me, Lord, and my heart with your word. May

  242. you feel my lips and give me clarity of speech

  243. that I might declare, Lord, not my words, but your words.

  244. And Lord, I pray that you would give ears to

  245. hear those people who hear, those are watching on line

  246. on TV.

  247. Lord, may they hear your word today. Lord, I pray.

  248. I pray for your power upon me, a power upon

  249. this place, a power upon us. Lord. We love you,

  250. We look to you today, and your name we pray. Amen.

  251. He may be seated.

  252. Two promises of God's gift today, the gift of God's light.

  253. God promise Israel a gift, a gift of his light

  254. in the midst of darkness. The first two promises of God,

  255. the gift of God's life. First, the gift of light

  256. would come. You imagine Isaiah's talking about time of darkness

  257. is going to come upon the land. He says, Isaiah's

  258. I mean at king has is trusted in Assyria, and

  259. he says, a Seriah is going to come and he's

  260. going to strike the land. He's going to bring death

  261. and destruction. And with death and destructions, they'll be hunger.

  262. People will be hungry because of war. They'll lose food supplies.

  263. The land will be devastated. The people would be carried off.

  264. Some people would actually be carried from Israel into captivity.

  265. There would be hunger, there would be lost, there will

  266. be death, there will be destruction.

  267. And this is the time that's coming. Has brought this because.

  268. He's rejected the word of the Lord, and Isaiah is saying,

  269. there's time of darkness. It's going to come, and when

  270. that time of darkness comes, people will.

  271. Search for answers. And it gives a description.

  272. And as we begin this passive scription in verse eight,

  273. he's given a description of how people will search for answers,

  274. and he's given them instructions of what to do when

  275. the darkness comes. Now, how many of you today, How

  276. many of you have flashlights at home? We probably all do,

  277. right you, Probably all of you have flashlights with you

  278. here because you probably have a phone as a flashlight

  279. on it.

  280. You know.

  281. The wonderful the crazy thing about flashlights outside of your

  282. phone is we probably all have them in our house,

  283. scattered all around different places, maybe different every room. You

  284. got one somewhere, or maybe you don't. But the crazy

  285. thing is is although we have them, we don't use

  286. them except when what the darkness comes.

  287. Except in the middle of the night, something happens to

  288. the power.

  289. Breakers you know, trips, or something happens in the community

  290. and shuts off the power. And then what the flashlight

  291. that you know you have, you're desperately trying to find,

  292. right and the answer.

  293. The crazy thing is most of the time. At that time,

  294. you can't find it, right, I know, I.

  295. Saw it in that drawer, and you go to the

  296. drawer you know that it's in and it's not there.

  297. Or you go to it and you're like, oh yeah,

  298. sure it's going to work, and you pull it out

  299. and turn it on, then there's no the batteries are

  300. dead in it, right. That's the way flashlights. They're great, right,

  301. but we really don't use them unless the darkness comes.

  302. And as this, as we look at this, you can

  303. see that this is the time of darkness and people

  304. are searching for the light.

  305. They're looking for how do I find.

  306. Answers, And Isaiah tells them listen, he tells Israel when

  307. the darkness.

  308. Comes, and it's going to come.

  309. And can I tell you today, whether you come into service,

  310. you may be a.

  311. Pe in your life that everything's okay.

  312. You know, I don't really have relationship problems pastor I

  313. really don't have a crisis in my life right now.

  314. And my health does good, my job is good, my

  315. family is good. All these things are good. But can

  316. I tell you darkness is coming. There's not one of

  317. us and this life will not be impacted by some

  318. crisis or some tragedy.

  319. Or some loss.

  320. And there's gonna be dark peers in our life, and

  321. as we know they're coming, what should we do how

  322. we get prepared for the.

  323. Darkness before it comes?

  324. Where Isaiah instructs them and he tells them first and

  325. verse eleven he says, for the Lord spoke to me,

  326. and I mean verse sixteen, I'm sorry I went to

  327. the wrong verse verse sixteen he tells them, bind up

  328. the testimony, still the teaching among them, disciples, wait for

  329. the Lord.

  330. He gives the imagery.

  331. You'll probably want to know what's he mean by who's

  332. hiding his face from the House of Jacob. He's saying

  333. he's hiding his face because his judgment is coming. And

  334. there's gonna be a period of time where it seems

  335. like when the darkness comes upon the land, that they

  336. can't find where God is because the destructions it's upon

  337. their life. And he says, in those times, listen, bind up.

  338. The word of God and hold on to it. If

  339. you're looking for the light, looking to the light of

  340. God's word, hold on to that reality is.

  341. There will be those in Isaiah's encouraging those remnant in

  342. every generation. As we look into the Old Testament, there

  343. are those who rebel against me. Nation the visual at

  344. time will rebel against the Lord. And we see that,

  345. and we'll go see that in just a minute. But

  346. there's always a small remnant of God's people who are

  347. true to God's word. And he's telling that small remnant. Hey,

  348. when the darkness comes, hold on to the light, hold

  349. on to the word of God, and listen to what

  350. he says. In verse eighteen, says, behold, children whom the

  351. Lord has given me or signs and portuitence of Israel,

  352. the Lord of Host who dwell in Zion. And then

  353. he says to them, listen, hold on to the word

  354. of God God. When the darkness comes and it seems

  355. like God is hiding his face from you, hold on

  356. to the word of God. Hold on to these words,

  357. and I'm giving you today. And then he says this.

  358. In verse nineteen, he says, in those times, listen to this.

  359. In those times of darkness, there will be people who

  360. will tell you to look for answers in different places. Listen,

  361. look at where he says that they will hear from

  362. people Israel. These are Jews who will tell them where

  363. to look for answers.

  364. Look what it says.

  365. And when they say to you inquire a mediums and

  366. necromancers who chirp and mutter. Should not a people inquire

  367. of their God? Should not not inquire the dead on

  368. behalf of the living. He says, in those times of

  369. darkness Israel, I'm telling you he's prophesying again. These things

  370. have not happened, but these things are coming. And Isaiah says, listen,

  371. when Assyria comes upon the land and he destroys the

  372. northern part of Israel, and where there's a destruct when

  373. there's death, and when there's hunger, and when the people

  374. of Israel start looking for answers, there'll be some who

  375. will hold on to the word of God.

  376. But there'll be some in that land.

  377. There'll be Jews, there will be people of God in

  378. that time, and they'll tell you know what God's words.

  379. Not speaking God's words hide his voice from us. We

  380. can't hear God. We can't see what God's had, and

  381. we're looking for answers. And in that time there will

  382. be people who says, you know what you know where

  383. you should find answers.

  384. You need to go talk to the witch doctor.

  385. You need to talk to the witches in the area,

  386. and you need to find answers from them. And I

  387. tell you what if that doesn't work, there's necromancers. Necromancers

  388. were people who talk to the dead. You go find

  389. a good necromancer who they believed at the time in

  390. ancient Near East that the dead talked in like a

  391. bird like chirped, They talked in the whisper. So these

  392. necromancers would chirp and mutter. They would whisper trying to

  393. call the dead. And they're gonna say, and there's times

  394. of darkness when things come, when death and devastation, destruction

  395. comes upon your life, go look to the witches, go

  396. look towards the evil. And I tell if that doesn't work,

  397. the best place if you find answers is to talk

  398. to people who've already died. And so find you a

  399. good necromancer. Chirp a little bit and mutter a little bit,

  400. and they'll give you answers to your problems.

  401. You would say to me, you read that you hear

  402. this today, and you said, that's crazy. Nobody ever does that, Preacher,

  403. There's nobody does that stuff today. Can I tell you

  404. that you may have heard of a quarterback.

  405. I don't know if you're into sports, but there's a

  406. quarterback who is still in the NFL today.

  407. His name is Aaron Rodgers. You know, twenty twenty, Aaron

  408. Rodgers travel.

  409. To Peru and he took this drug as a plant

  410. based psychedelic And they're doing this. By the way, this

  411. has happened in the last few years. Many players who

  412. are doing this, and this is happening in our world today.

  413. Is not just players, but there's very wealthy people who

  414. are doing the same thing and they take they go

  415. to these retreats in different places of the world and

  416. they take this plant base psychedelic drug and the purpose

  417. of this plant based psychedelic drug is to bring them

  418. a place of enlightenment. And this is what Aaron Rodgers

  419. said about that experience. He said, I had a magical

  420. experience with a sensation of feeling one hundred different hands

  421. on my body imparting me blessings and love and forgiveness

  422. of myself and gratitude for this life. And what seemed

  423. to be the blessings seemed to be from my ancestors.

  424. What does he say, Hey, I took this drug and

  425. it gave me a stage of enlightenment and from the dead.

  426. My ancestors were giving me blessings and healing and forgiveness.

  427. You say, in Isaiah's time, Isaiah says, watch out. They're

  428. people who say look for answers and evil.

  429. All that happened today? Oh yeah, it does. Can I

  430. tell you that he in the last year, he's done something.

  431. Now imagine, imagine if I say, okay, hey, you go

  432. tonight about eleven o'clock you have a power outage.

  433. You will lose your power, and you know when the

  434. darkness comes. Don't look for the flashlight, don't get the

  435. flashlight from your phone. Just sit in the darkness. It's

  436. in the darkness. You'll find the light. Now you would

  437. say me preach you. That sounds that's crazy, that's crazy,

  438. Like you don't do that.

  439. If the light goes out and you're sitting in darkness,

  440. the best way to find the light is go find

  441. the light, right, go turn on the light. Or Aaron

  442. Rodgers and others who are doing this new thing and

  443. it's called a retreat in the darkness.

  444. You think I'm making this up, you can look it

  445. up for yourself.

  446. And this retreat of the darkness, you go to this

  447. darkness retreat and this remote part, and it's like a

  448. cave or like a cabin, and for three days or

  449. four nights, you just sit in darkness, and there you

  450. can find all the answers to your troubles and the

  451. problems of your life, and searching.

  452. For answers from the dead and in darkness.

  453. We look at that today and say that's you can't

  454. get your comprehend that. But the same thing was happening today,

  455. and Rogers is doing that with these psychedelic drugs and

  456. this retreat of darkness.

  457. It's the same thing people were doing in Isaiah's time.

  458. They were looking for which doctors, they were looking for darkness.

  459. Even if you look at this pastor's of scripture, they

  460. were looking for answers in darkness. Looking verse twelve, it's

  461. in conspiracies. Don't call conspiracy all that this people cause conspiracy.

  462. Don't fear what they fear, nor be in dread. They

  463. were looking for answers in the darkness of conspiracies. They

  464. were looking for answers in verse nineteen that have just

  465. talked about in the occult and searching for answers from

  466. the dead in verse twenty two, when that doesn't work

  467. when they don't find answers and conspiracies. They don't find

  468. answers in the occult. We look for answers in the world.

  469. In verse twenty two, we see they get mad, they

  470. get enraged, they get angry at God because God is

  471. not answering, and they rebell it against God.

  472. In verse twenty three, it'll look to the earth. Behold

  473. the distress and darkness.

  474. They will look for the answers, and the earth they

  475. will look for answers in our world.

  476. We see this in scripture too.

  477. By the way, you remember there's a passage in First

  478. Samuel twenty eight about Saul, King Saul. You remember the

  479. king Saul. King Saul was rebelled against the Lord. Luck

  480. like King a has it didn't obey the Lord. And

  481. therefore God brought judgment upon him. And the God's voice

  482. went silent on Saul, as his judgment was for Saul.

  483. And you remember so much. He was going against war,

  484. and he's trying to find out, what would God want

  485. me to do with this war? And he couldn't hear

  486. from God.

  487. So what do you do? He went and found a witch.

  488. You remember, you go read the passage Scripture he goes

  489. seeks a witch who brings about Samuel so that he

  490. will hear the voice of God.

  491. We see Bible says this past and one Timothy.

  492. We just read it a few weeks ago in our

  493. Bible reading on on Timothy four. The Spirit says, especially

  494. says that in the latter times, people will depart from

  495. the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits, teaching of

  496. demons and sincerities of liars who consciously seers is seared.

  497. Listen.

  498. The Bible says, in Isaiah times, when darkness comes, there's

  499. gonna be a time where people don't find answers in

  500. the Word of God, but goes signs find answers and

  501. demons and witchcraft and talking to the dead.

  502. And they did it. Saul did it. People in Isaiah's

  503. time did it. And the Bible says that when we

  504. come to the last days, people will still be doing it.

  505. And Aaron Rodgers an example of that. Here's the beautiful

  506. part of this passage scripture. You say, pastor, where are

  507. you going with this?

  508. If God says these things were going to come, God

  509. says that people are gonna look for answers in these things.

  510. But you know, we look, we can find answers like this.

  511. Every one of you probably have a phone in your pocket,

  512. and within a second, if you had to answers to, Hey,

  513. who sang this song?

  514. You can google it? She's damn it or whatever it is. Right.

  515. You can hit Siri and ask sirih what's a math problem? Right?

  516. You can ask Syria how the spirit spells? In just

  517. a second, She's probably gonna answer me. Right, she probably

  518. hears me in my pocket. You can ask Google in

  519. just a second. Literally, with the push of a button,

  520. you can find answers to every problem, any question you

  521. might have. But there's some buttons that you cannot push.

  522. And you know what you cannot And this is what

  523. the frustrating part for us. We cannot just push a

  524. button for God, can we. You can't just say God,

  525. I'll do this, and God, you'll tell me what you want.

  526. You'll tell me the answers to my problems and to

  527. the issues of my life.

  528. And you'll give me directions, you'll giving me guidance. So therefore,

  529. we like Isaiah, it's time, and the people of Isaiah time.

  530. We look to other things.

  531. But the beautiful thing about this passage is this. You

  532. cannot push a button and make God come. You can't

  533. push a button to make God answered. But the beautiful

  534. thing of Isaiah chapter nine is God promise a gift,

  535. and that gift is the gift of God's light, and

  536. that although you can't make God come, the promise of

  537. Isaiah nine is God would come right to where you are.

  538. Listen what Isaiah nine says this is but there's no

  539. gloom for her who was in English. The former time

  540. brought contempt in the land of Zebelin and the land

  541. of Aftai. But in the latter time He's made a

  542. glorious way in the land of the Sea, the land

  543. beyond the Jordan, the galley of the nation.

  544. Listen to the people who walk in darkness have seen

  545. a great light those who dwell in the land of

  546. deep darkness on them has shown.

  547. The promise that God had in Isaiah chapter nine was

  548. those who were in darkness. You're looking for answers, and

  549. all you're trying to do different things, push different buttons,

  550. whether it's going to a which doctor or going through

  551. talking to the dead.

  552. All you're doing is trying to make God speak to you.

  553. But can I tell you that there's coming a gift

  554. of God's life light, and that light is coming to you.

  555. Can I ask you today, how are you seeking the light?

  556. How you seeking the Lord? Maybe today you're not trying

  557. to find the answers and sorcery. You're talking to the dead,

  558. and you've not done a retreat to the darkness. But

  559. you're trying to find answers everywhere else for the issues

  560. of your life except the Lord. You know, it's funny

  561. that we all have flashlights at home in a drawer somewhere.

  562. We pull them out when the darkness comes. And flashlights

  563. are a lot like.

  564. Bibles.

  565. We have them, we just don't get them out unless

  566. darkness comes. We don't read them during today, we don't

  567. read them during the week. We'll pull them out on

  568. Sunday morning. Oh but when the darkness comes, Oh, where's

  569. that Bible?

  570. Lord? I need you listen.

  571. The good news is the promise of God and that

  572. Jesus would come to be your light.

  573. He would come right to where you are.

  574. That's what Jesus says in John eight twelve. Again Jesus

  575. spoke to them, saying, listen to this. I am the

  576. light of the world, and whoever follows me, will not

  577. walk in darkness.

  578. But will have the light of life. Do you have

  579. that today? Where are you seeking light from? Today?

  580. Which you see two promises of gift on two promises

  581. of God's gift of life light. I keep flipping those

  582. words around life and light, two promises God's gift of light.

  583. The gift of God's light has come, and the gift

  584. of God's light has come.

  585. To those in darkness, the Bible says. In Isaiah chapter nine,

  586. he says, listen, but there's no gloom for her who

  587. was in anguish glooms.

  588. The idea of no darkness is grief despair, he says.

  589. Former time he brought contempt in the land of Zebelin.

  590. Zebelin was northern Israel. When Isaiah promised that Israel Seria

  591. would come and he would bring war and destruction and

  592. death and overtake Israel, he would start in northern Israel.

  593. He would starting the land of Zebelin. Isaiah promises prophesies

  594. that when the light would come, he would come to

  595. the land of Zebelin. Once you turn with me to

  596. Matthew chapter four. Matthew chapter four and verse twelve, the

  597. Bible tells us of Jesus.

  598. Who came.

  599. He's starting his ministry. And in Matthew chapter four, starting

  600. in verse twelve, it says, when when he heard that

  601. John had been arrested, that John the Baptist, he withdrew

  602. to Galilee, leaving Nazareth, and he lived in Capernaum by

  603. the sea in the territory. Listen to this of Zebelin

  604. and Naftaia, the way day of the sea beyond the Jordan,

  605. the Galilee of the Gentiles in verse fourteen, So that

  606. the words so what was spoken of the prophet Isaiah

  607. might be fulfilled. Look at verse sixteen. The people in

  608. dwelling and darkness have seen a great life. For those

  609. who dwell in the regions of the shadow of death

  610. on them, the light has dawned. From that time Jesus

  611. began to preach, saying, repent for the Kingdom of Heaven

  612. is at hand. Jesus the light of the world. When

  613. he began his ministry. Where did he begin it? He

  614. began it where the destruction first begin. He began it

  615. where the darkness first entered the land. Jesus fulfilled the

  616. promises the prophecies of Isaiah chapter nine.

  617. He was the light of the world and He was

  618. a light that came right where.

  619. The darkness began. Listen to me today, here's the promise

  620. of Jesus. The promise of Jesus that God had given

  621. Isaiah is that Jesus would come.

  622. Right to you.

  623. You may not come to him, but he would come

  624. to you. And the second promises is that he would come.

  625. To your darkness.

  626. He come right where you are, right in the midst

  627. of your despair, right and in the midst of your destruction.

  628. And today he wants to be the light in your darkness.

  629. One of the I don't know about you.

  630. One of the passage of scripture I've always just loved

  631. is a passage in job. Job is in the midst

  632. of darkness. He's lost his family, he's lost his wealth,

  633. he's lost his health. Darkness has surrounded Job. Job's angry,

  634. Job's looking for answers. And in Job he goes to

  635. the Lord and he says, if there was a courtroom God,

  636. that I could go to you, and I stand before

  637. you God, and I could tell you why I did

  638. not deserve what's happened to me. I didn't deserve what

  639. happened to my family, didn't deserve what's happened to my

  640. my wealth. I've not deserved what's happened to my health.

  641. God, I'd stand before you and I would plead you

  642. my case. But Job says God. I look for you.

  643. I look forward, and you're not there. I look behind me, God,

  644. you're not there. God. I look to my right and

  645. you're not there. God. I look to my left, and

  646. you're not there. God. I've looked for you. But God,

  647. I cannot find you. But in job, Job says, but God,

  648. you know right where I am. Can I tell you?

  649. In Isaiah Chapter nine, Isaiah is telling the people of Israel,

  650. God knows right where you are. He knows right where

  651. your darkness is, and when he comes, he's coming right

  652. for your darkness.

  653. He's coming to be the light in your darkness.

  654. You may not feel like you can find him, but

  655. he knows exactly where you are, and when.

  656. He comes, he's coming to your darkness.

  657. I wonder to you today, Jesus knows your darkness, he

  658. knows your doubts, he knows how you're looking for answers.

  659. This morning, will you come to him? Will you seek

  660. his face? I wonder today, what's the darkest moments of

  661. your life? So far.

  662. Maybe it's been a divorce, maybe it's been death, there's

  663. been a loss of job. Maybe it's been depression or anxiety.

  664. Maybe it's been abuse of the past, maybe it's health issues.

  665. Will you today, just says Lord, you promise that you

  666. would come to me. God, you promise you would come

  667. and be the light of my darkness. And today I

  668. seek you, Lord, I seek the gift of your light

  669. in me. Lord, I ask you if you'll do that today.

  670. I want to close with this passage of scripture. It's

  671. passage I think we may all know pretty well.

  672. It's John three sixteen. That's what John three sixteen says.

  673. For God so loved the world that he gave his

  674. only son, that who's your ever believe in him, shall

  675. not perish, but have everlasting life.

  676. This wonderful promise, if we all know.

  677. Dear two, listen to what the passage continue says. For

  678. God did not send his son into the world to

  679. condemn it, but in order that the world might be

  680. saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned.

  681. But whoever does not believe in him is condemned already

  682. because he's not believed in the.

  683. Name of the only Son of God. This is the judgment.

  684. The light has come into the world.

  685. But people love the darkness rather than the light because

  686. their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things

  687. hates the light and does not come.

  688. To the light. At least his works be exposed.

  689. But whoever does come, whoever does what is true, comes

  690. to the light, so that maybe clearly seeing his works have.

  691. Been carried out in God. You know.

  692. The tragic thing is today as we celebrate the gift

  693. of God's promise Messiah, a Messianic gift, the gift of

  694. God's light, a light that would come to us, we

  695. could not come to him. But he came to us,

  696. a gift that he came for us in our darkness

  697. of our sin and the darkness of our suffering. But

  698. the devastating part of this story is some people love

  699. the darkness more than they love the light. I ask

  700. you today, may you remember that he came for you.

  701. He knew darkness would come to you, He knows sin

  702. would come into your life, He knew you would suffering

  703. come into your life.

  704. That Jesus came.

  705. At Christmas to be your light, to be the light

  706. in your darkness. Today where you receive the light. Will

  707. you love the light more than you love the darkness?

  708. Will you pray with me? Lord? We love you. We

  709. thank you Lord for this word. God.

  710. I thank you Lord that you are the light of

  711. this world. And God, you know the darkness of the

  712. sin in our life. God you know the darkness of

  713. suffering in our life. And God, you call us to

  714. seek you today, to seek your light. And I pray

  715. there'd be those today, maybe in this time of Christmas,

  716. they say there's a crisis, there's an issue, there's a darkness,

  717. there's a suffering, there's a sin. And it would be

  718. those that may become this altar maybe right where they

  719. are in their seat, that God that would just.

  720. Seek you today.

  721. They've looked for answers in many, many different places. But today, Lord,

  722. you're calling them to seek you.

  723. Lord. I pray they'd be those who would lay their

  724. burdens on you.

  725. Your word says, come to me all who weary in

  726. heavy lady, And what I pray they'd be those who

  727. would come to you, Lord today, lead us in response

  728. where there's praying this altar praying their seat, Lord, if

  729. you would want some to come forward, that I could

  730. pray with them, Lord, I pray they would respond, Lord,

  731. I pray, there's someone here that doesn't know your Lord, Savior.

  732. They've looked for answers for their sin through all different

  733. places in this world. But God, they've never found savation

  734. in you. They've never found Lord, that you were a

  735. gift that came to save them from their sins. I

  736. pray they'd be those who would believe on you today, Jesus,

  737. those would confess you today as Lord, And why I

  738. pray they'd be those who were putting their faith in

  739. You for salvation today for the first time.

  740. Lord.

  741. If if you lead some today who's making that decision

  742. for the first time, Lord, if I could pray with them,

  743. I pray you'd lead them to come talk with me,

  744. or talk with me.

  745. After the church and one of our staff members, or

  746. I pray today.

  747. Would be the time, Lord that as the light has come, Lord,

  748. that we Lord look to you the light of the

  749. world today, and your name we pray.

  750. Jesus pain a to
