  1. If I want to pray for Simon, as he brings

  2. your word, I pray the Father God, It'll come to

  3. edify us. It will come to encourage us, it to

  4. come to restore us, to come to revive us, it

  5. to come to deliver us, Father God. And as he

  6. brings us his word, as he brings your word, Father God,

  7. use him for your kingdom in Jesus name, Amen.

  8. Owning. So the title of today's message is seeing is

  9. not believing. Okay, seeing is not believing. Let's pray, well,

  10. the Spirit, please take my words and in partnerent to

  11. the people, make them your words, so that people get

  12. out of this preach what you want them to get

  13. out this preach. Thank It's not the work of a man.

  14. It's the work of the Holy Spirit. To do what

  15. you need to do. We are you welcome here. So

  16. seeing is not believing. You know, our words are containers.

  17. They carry power. You can say something nice to somebody,

  18. something affirming to somebody, or you can cut somebody off

  19. at the knees by what comes out of our mouth.

  20. And a nice word sub a lord which cuts cuts

  21. you off at the knees doesn't. But you can't take

  22. it back. You can. Once you put it out there,

  23. you can't go no, no, no, no, new it's there.

  24. You can say sorry one John one nine. If you

  25. if you're saying confessionally saying, and God will forgive you,

  26. but you can't take it back. Jesus said in Matthew

  27. five thirty seven, let your yes be yes, and let

  28. you know be no. So my paraphse is watch what

  29. you say. So language is not my my strong point.

  30. I'm an engineer by professional training. So when we talk

  31. about certain things, I didn't know this, Yesterdly, what anaphorism was.

  32. I was. I was preparing this word, and I said aphorism.

  33. I thought, what's that? So when after aphorism is good,

  34. I'm not the only one that's okay. So an Afro

  35. an aphorism is a short or memorable statement that reflects

  36. a society's shared belief values or traditions. Right. The reasonhy

  37. I look that up is because it can be found

  38. in a proverb, such as a stitch in time saves nine?

  39. Who said that that stitch in time saves nine? Or

  40. it can be found in the maxim, such as an

  41. apple the day, keep Salma away, or the doctor away. Yeah,

  42. slam as a qualified doctor, an apple keeps a doctor away,

  43. or it confound in the saying such as actions speak

  44. louder than words. Yeah. So, if you're born in the UK,

  45. I lived in the UK a long time. Some of

  46. these will be familiar to here. If you haven't, sorry,

  47. it's just what came up. Another one of these is

  48. seeing is believing, or you need to see something before

  49. you believe it or before you can accept that it

  50. really exists. All right, So we believe that Jesus died

  51. for our sins. We believe I went to hell, he

  52. was raised from the dead, and he said to the

  53. Father's right hand, that's what we believe. If you're a

  54. Christian in this room today, if you don't come and

  55. speak to me afterwards, okay, do we all agree?

  56. Yes?

  57. Good, thank you. So we believed in our heart and

  58. we confessed with our mouth. Yeah. So that's Romans nine

  59. Romans ten, sorry nine to ten. That says, if you

  60. confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in

  61. your heart that God raised him from the dead, you

  62. will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness,

  63. and with the mouth confession is mate to salvation. Right,

  64. we may not have seen an outward transformation when we

  65. asked Jesus to come into our life. Right, maybe you did,

  66. maybe you saw angels. Maybe you know, you felt the

  67. Prince of God. Maybe he didn't. But it didn't change

  68. what had happened. Yeah, it didn't change what had happened,

  69. the fact we were a new creation. To Corinthians five

  70. seventeen says, Therefore, if anyone anyone is in Christ, he

  71. is a new creation. All things have passed away. Behold

  72. all things, all things become new, all right. Also, when

  73. we were born again from death to life, the Father

  74. remembered our sins no more. Does no matter what you did,

  75. what you said, you remember them no more Hebrews eight,

  76. verse twelve. So that put it this way, for I

  77. will be merciful to their unrighteousness and their sins and

  78. their lawless deeds. I will remember no more, all right.

  79. And the last piece of this puzzle, he adopted us

  80. into his family. Yeah. Relatians four and verse five says

  81. to redeem those who were under the law, that we

  82. might receive the adoption as sons. So I said all

  83. that to say this, we went through a process. Whether

  84. you've had a little booklet, or whether you prayed it

  85. some day orways said God, here's my life. Not much

  86. to do with it. Really take it and use it.

  87. You know, some people have prayed various different sort of prayers,

  88. but God's met them where they were at. Yeah, and

  89. God does that presently meets us where we're at. You

  90. don't pray a theological prayer. If we need help, do you?

  91. Usually it's God, I need help, this is a problem. Help.

  92. I do not know what I'm going to do about this,

  93. fix it or with that sort of prayer that I

  94. only pray. Yeah, but notice when I went through how

  95. we pray, how it aligns with the Word. Yeah, So

  96. be fair to say that in God's kingdom, believing is seeing.

  97. All right, In God's kingdom, believing is seeing. It doesn't

  98. matter what the circumstance says. What matters is what God said.

  99. That's why I refer to the Word through those various elements.

  100. You know, God's words alive and it's full of power

  101. Hebrews fo Yeah, from the Word of God is a

  102. lyone full of power, active optyp energized and effective sharpener

  103. tudge it so penetrating the divide a line of soul

  104. and spirit. Yeah, that's a fact, a spiritual fact. So

  105. God's word is alive, right, and he wants us to

  106. use his word like a tool. I don't know I'm

  107. gonna put this.

  108. So.

  109. When I was younger, I used to a lot of

  110. car maintenance because it was cheaper. Now I don't pay somebody.

  111. Oh I've got a company car, so I pay for

  112. my wife's car and I run my company car. So

  113. I just take it to the guy as they fix

  114. it because I haven't got time. When I was younger,

  115. I used to have my own tools. I still got

  116. my tools and run in the stairs. So when you're

  117. playing out with brakes, you know, sometimes you gotta put

  118. a spanner on something, or you've got to put a

  119. socket set, which is like it has a certain size

  120. socket which fits over the nut and fits on. Then

  121. never screw. Am I losing people here? I don't know anyway,

  122. Then you've got to apply pressure to move it. Yeah,

  123. that's how it is. If you're not careful, you you

  124. catch your finger like I did yesterday, but you use

  125. the tool to move the nut. Yeah, that's just how

  126. it is. It's the same with the word of God.

  127. You take the word of God and you apply it

  128. to the particular nuts you got to deal with. That

  129. might be a person, that might be a circumstance, that

  130. might be a situation. But you get the right tool

  131. out of the box or at my toolbox to fix it.

  132. I was working with Rob two sets ago, taking with

  133. how many's wardrobeses one of those things for the screws.

  134. They don't tell you where they put the screw screws here,

  135. screws there, And I was showing Rob how to use

  136. a screwdriver. Because Rob, he's not a practical sort of guy. Again,

  137. you get the right tool for the job. I span

  138. wouldn't have worked on his wardrobe. You wouldn't be very

  139. happy with me because he wants to keep it. But

  140. the bottom line is you take the right tool for

  141. the job. And what God wants us to get hold

  142. of is how we use the word of God as

  143. a tool. All Right, it's not something where's it go,

  144. It's not something that my Bible isn't here. It's not

  145. going to take out and give it a nice polished

  146. look at it and go that's pretty cool. Operate it

  147. back in my bag, put back in the pocket. It's

  148. something we should be using every day, whether it's at work,

  149. at university, at home. We need God to intervene in

  150. circumstances and situations, all right, And what God wants us

  151. to do is tie up with his word. Right. His

  152. word is a word that carries the power. Okay, that's

  153. a fact. That's a spiritual fact. I could throw one

  154. of those sweets up and it come down, and that's

  155. the lord of gravity. Yeah, that's a natural fact. The

  156. spiritual fact is God's words alive and it's full of power.

  157. It will change every situation. It will change every circumstance

  158. if you apply it, all right, but you've got to

  159. apply it a certain way. I don't know. I may

  160. have made all these notes because I seemply're going to

  161. have peace to my mind, hm hmm, it's so good.

  162. Look at this.

  163. Yeah, they must give that up.

  164. So to apply God's word, we've got to do it

  165. in God's way. Yeah, there's no point, like I said,

  166. using a scrowge a span to fix his wardrobe or

  167. take it that. It wouldn't work. You've got to do

  168. it God's way. About says righteous peace and joy. He

  169. goes to the Kingdom of God or God's way of

  170. doing things and being right. So God's got a way

  171. of doing things. He has a pattern he follows. The

  172. Bible is full of patterns. Yeah, So what God wants

  173. to get over is today is how we follow a pattern,

  174. apply his word, and see the results that we need

  175. to see.

  176. Yeah.

  177. So it's like practical applications of the word of God,

  178. so you can be successful in what you need to

  179. do and gave a situation or a circumstance. Yeah, We've

  180. all got stuff going on, whether it's nice things or

  181. it's stuff we're not looking forward to. There's always stuff

  182. going on in people's lives or people you know. Yeah,

  183. and well, we all have some sort of baggage or

  184. stuff we need to deal with. If I'm being honest,

  185. you know, if you take the mask off today, we've

  186. all got stuff you need to deal with. But we

  187. need got to deal with that. So today we're just

  188. going to talk a bit about this and see what

  189. the host we wants to do. I've got a few

  190. notes and i haven't followed much of many of those

  191. right now. But then it's one of those sermons sometimes

  192. God gives you a word and it's like here three

  193. points wanted to share. You go, okay, what story goes,

  194. We're not doing that today. Just make a few notes

  195. and go up there and open your mouth and watch

  196. how I'm going to fill it and watch what I'm

  197. going to do, which is one of the the study,

  198. which is today's sort of thing. Yeah, so you just

  199. stand here and you listen, and then God says boom,

  200. and you're going to say something. So if I'm stopping

  201. and listening, that's because it's one of these sort of sermons.

  202. I'm not sure as I prefer the best. Really, these

  203. are probably better because it's it's possibly more on the edge.

  204. It's like riding a wave. You've got a certain stand

  205. of the surfboard and keep on going. You've got to

  206. ride the wave. It's riding the wave of the Holy

  207. Spirit rather the intellect. So Hebrews ten, verse thirty eight

  208. is a familiar passage which simply says the just shall

  209. live by faith. Yeah, they just shall live by faith.

  210. That was taken from Habocat two verses three to four,

  211. Romans one seventeen, Galatians three eleven. Yeah, yeah, those four places.

  212. So God said that four times they just shall live

  213. by faith. So for the for the avoidance of doubt.

  214. That's us. That means keris shall live by faith, Angela

  215. shall live by faith, Salma shall live by faith. Right live.

  216. That means live. You could transmit it breathe, so as

  217. you breathe, that's how you live. So if I'm honest,

  218. I don't do that all the time. You know I can.

  219. I've flipping it out of it sometimes, depending if I'm

  220. deliberate and what I'm thinking about. If I make a

  221. deliberate decision or a quality decision, I can stay in

  222. that flow all day. If I don't, I can go, Oh,

  223. I'm in the wrong space. I need to step back

  224. over here. There's like two there's a light, a line

  225. we walk, which is God's way and you know our

  226. way because we all have our own way of doing things.

  227. We've all been brought up differently, but we all have

  228. like terms of reference, so like our control system. So

  229. the key is to learn how to walk deliberately with God. Yeah,

  230. everone get that? Yeah?

  231. Good?

  232. So we called to live by faith. We called to

  233. believe God for those things that we cannot see. We

  234. called to see into the invisible and do the impossible. Yeah,

  235. I think it's Romans four seventeen, God who gives life

  236. to the dead and calls those things which do not

  237. exist as though they did. It's Romans fall. So God's

  238. way of doing things to call those things that are

  239. not as though they are. Right. He said light be,

  240. and then light was. It was just like bang. Godd

  241. wants us to operate in the same way. Yeah, that

  242. means you and me. There's no favorites. He doesn't have

  243. a scaling thing. Oh day is my favorite, today, Rob's

  244. my favorite, tomorrow. We are all God's children, were all adopted.

  245. That means you've got the same rights as Jesus, which

  246. is heavy. But the way we do this, the way

  247. we connect with God, because flesh to flesh is firm,

  248. Spirit to spirit is firm. God is a spirit. Yeah,

  249. we connect with God by faith. And Romans twelve, verse threes.

  250. Have all been given a measure of faith as on

  251. the screen as it. I don't know. Yeah, we won't

  252. be given a measure of faith. So you've got a

  253. bit of faith. I've got a bit of faith. Then

  254. we have to apply that faith that God give them faith. Yeah,

  255. So if you don't believe and you try to apply

  256. God's word it won't work right, because you need to

  257. be in the family. You know, you need to be

  258. in the family. If you're not in the family, you

  259. need to get in the family. If you are in

  260. the family, you can take the principles of God and

  261. apply them and see the results. Yeah, because we're adopted.

  262. Hebrews eleven to one to three says, now faith is

  263. the substance or the compound of things hoped for, the

  264. evidence of things not seen for by it. The elder

  265. has obtained a good testimony by faith. We understand that

  266. the worlds were framed by the word of God, so

  267. that things which are seen were not made off things

  268. which are visible. So God's word created things which could

  269. not be seen, were not visible by his word. And

  270. God wants us to do the same thing. All right. Now,

  271. the principle sounds fine, you can write it down. It's

  272. really cool. Yeah, rock on. Then you've got to use it.

  273. There's no point using it when there's a big deal

  274. going on and you need it to work. You've got

  275. to work it on the day today rather than something

  276. bit kicks off, something drops down and they're going to

  277. die in front of you. BEA's got a heart attack. Now,

  278. it's not the time to practice. Yeah, time is to

  279. practice beforehands right, so you could become skillful. I know,

  280. carriage plays a guitar. I know. It's your practices. Yeah,

  281. you get good at what you practice. So we need

  282. to practice working in peace rather than working in anxiety. Yeah,

  283. we need to practice working in patience rather than give

  284. nuts somebody hit somebody. Yeah, we need to practice those things.

  285. Faith is always now now. Faith is the substance of

  286. things hopeful, the evidence of things, not saying it's always

  287. and now. God's a now sort of guy. Yeah, that's

  288. how he is. He lives in the now. He's interested

  289. in your now, is interested in mine now.

  290. Yeah.

  291. It's like we can talk to God and we've got

  292. a problem around the back here somewhere, and he goes, hi, hi, good, good,

  293. What about the problem around the back? Then? What problem

  294. around the back? What problem around the back? That problem

  295. around the back? I mean this problem on the back here. Well,

  296. it's not really a problem, is it. Yes, it is.

  297. It's like to show me your problem, well, not really

  298. show me a problem. Okay, then here's the problem. In

  299. God's eyes. It's like our eyes. It's like massive, you know,

  300. it's like a card to carry it God's eyes. It's like,

  301. what is that minute speck you've got around the back there? Boy? Yeah?

  302. Or is that just me? Okay, just being honest this morning.

  303. So God's wants us to live in the now by

  304. faith and give all those things we got round the back,

  305. which may we have stacked up over time. We take

  306. out and have a look after a while and go,

  307. I've got six Now. He wants us to live in

  308. a certain way and operate in a certain way. Hebrews twelve.

  309. Let's thick, let's flick it back of it. So if

  310. you read here was eleven that's called the you know,

  311. the Hall of fame faith whatever. Yeah, I haven't talked

  312. about that. And they go the Hall of faith? Yeah,

  313. whoa great would we do? All right? And we look

  314. at God's great? But do we live that way? I can?

  315. We can talk about Noah, Abraham, Moses, Sarah, Joseph, Giddy, David, Samuel,

  316. all those dudes who did great exploits. Yeah, and we

  317. can read the Bible and what they what those guys

  318. did and what they live through. That's right, that's really good.

  319. But then there's our bit below that isn't there. It's like,

  320. what did Simon do? What did Dave do? What did

  321. Rob do? You know? What are we doing?

  322. Yeah?

  323. He was twelve verse one to two. Puts it this way. Therefore, also,

  324. since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,

  325. let us lay aside every weight, every sin that and

  326. snares us, and let us run with endurance the race

  327. that is set before us. In other words, it's our

  328. time to run. Moses is putting his fee in heaven

  329. doing something else. Yeah, nothing, putting his feet up. But

  330. he's doing something else.

  331. Yeah.

  332. I don't think one minute God's going to say, okay, Ve,

  333. may it sit down, have a cup of tea. We'll

  334. do something later. God is always doing something, is always

  335. stretching his faith. Yeah, He's run his race on the earth. Yeah,

  336. Paul's run his race on his earth. He got the crown,

  337. he did the job.

  338. Yeah.

  339. Now it's our time to run, all right, it's our

  340. time to run. So how are we running our race? Yeah,

  341. that's a rhetorical question. Okay, so I have a think

  342. about that. How we're running our race? And what do

  343. we need to do to run our race? Yeah, we've

  344. all got it tomorrow going to kick in. Yeah. And

  345. the stuff that's going to go on, some easy things,

  346. some stuff you think, oh gosh, I've got to do that. Great,

  347. I'll suck it up, I'll smile, I'll get on with it.

  348. God wants us to run our race by faith. Okay,

  349. look into Jesus, the Author and the finisher of faith.

  350. He goes on to say, Jesus the author and finisher

  351. of faith. Jesus lives in here, Jesus lives in there. Yeah,

  352. so he's with us every step of every day. The

  353. Holy Spirit's in us. Yeah, that's just how it is.

  354. So what can go wrong? The answer is the human factor. Yeah,

  355. are we going to do it? God's way? Are going

  356. to do it the Frank's arks and arsh Away my way.

  357. So you look at my notes, I've seem to blow

  358. and is a total heart okay in the mind. So

  359. basically wantswer to take his word and apply it. So

  360. just playing on the phone from the Scripture one Peter

  361. five seven, this is the amplified version, casting the whole

  362. of your care, all your anxieties, all your worries, all

  363. your concerns, wants and for all on him. He cares

  364. for you affectionately and cares for you watchfully. So if

  365. we deal with something like that, which coins to statistics,

  366. lots of us do we need to connect with God

  367. right and cast all our cares on him. So it's

  368. all coming handy. I wrote down six things yesterday I

  369. was preparing the word, which sort of tie this together.

  370. So what does God's works say about my need or

  371. my situation? Yeah, so either go and find a word

  372. or a scripture or use the when the Holy spirit's

  373. given to you. So maybe in the morning you've used

  374. it's so amias, you know every day with Jesus holding

  375. he was that sort of stuff. No whatever cares looking

  376. like what you're doing, you know, have a devotional, can't you?

  377. Or you can just do your own thing. Sometimes you

  378. open your your your Bible up and you're reading something

  379. and it's something someone just jumps out of your flashing

  380. lights and it says, you know, and it speaks you

  381. throughout of the day.

  382. Yeah.

  383. So sometimes So I knew a guy who was that

  384. he had he had a he had a he had

  385. a he had a profession, a pressure pressure exam to do,

  386. and God gave him a word. I think it was

  387. Proverbs three, five and six. Trust and loaded all your heart,

  388. you know and understanding in all your words, knowledge that

  389. you should direct and make straight play your past. So

  390. God gave him a word so that his hand to

  391. do was with a bit concerned, and so he hung

  392. on to that with white knuckles to get him through

  393. that situation. God spoke to him and he took it. Yeah.

  394. Sometimes God speaks to us and we take it. Other

  395. times we have to go and find something and apply it. Okay,

  396. so we apply it by confessing it with our mouth

  397. and believe it in our heart, the same principle using

  398. where you received Jesus, we confessed it and we believed it. Yeah. Remember,

  399. God's word does not return to him void, but it

  400. companies that which he pleases and prospering the thing where

  401. until he sends it as R. Fifty five eleven. Yeah,

  402. God's word does not return to him his voice. So

  403. we've got to find that word and apply that word.

  404. Then we need to thank God for the manifestation of

  405. that word. Yeah, we need to keep it alive. It's

  406. not just I just said it. You've got to keep

  407. it before God. You've got to keep it before you

  408. as well to trust God to work through that situation

  409. with you. Then you've got to watch what you say,

  410. don't say thinking one with it, which is aligning with

  411. what God has said, and then flip it the next

  412. time and say, so that's totally contrary to that. That's

  413. double minded, isn't it. Yeah, So we need to keep

  414. we need to keep saying the right thing. Yeah, we

  415. need to be consistent. Also, there's another thing which is

  416. called the prayer of agreement. When two of you get together,

  417. et cetera, et cetera, sometimes it's good to pray about something. Yeah,

  418. get some with great hair like me or Dave or

  419. Rob we shaved a head. If you can't say to

  420. pray with you, yeah, I agree with you. Yeah, it's

  421. not a weakness. It's just a case of you know,

  422. maybe going you to do that. Yeah, and then trust

  423. God for his timing. Don't be impatient, don't abort your miracle.

  424. We live in a and now generation. And get my

  425. smartphone out and I can wat's something in real time

  426. which happened across the world twenty minutes ago, which is

  427. like weird. We live in an entertaineous society. But God

  428. has a plan and a purpose. How he operates, and

  429. it's not just press a button open an app. God

  430. is not an app. He is a person. Yeah right,

  431. so don't treat him like like an app. Treat him

  432. like a person. Yeah, just checking the time. Dave Mark

  433. nine to twenty three puts it this way. If you

  434. can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. Yeah,

  435. so we are believers in what Jesus said. Yeah. So

  436. if we believe and apply the word of God in

  437. our certain other situations, we can overcome. That's why the

  438. bow says we're overcomers.

  439. Yeah.

  440. And nothing is impossible to him who believes. Nothing is

  441. impossible to him who believes.

  442. Yeah.

  443. So we'll just wrap this up now. Father, I pray

  444. that the principles we've talked about here this morning, you'd

  445. in part to everyone listening online later or in here

  446. in this room, so that they don't just words at fall.

  447. But there was that which you can encourage each and

  448. every one of the other people so they can apply

  449. your word and be successful to receive what you wanted

  450. to receive. God wants you to walk by faith, not

  451. by sight. Yeah, that's the that's the strap line. I've

  452. had a scream that with a strap line. I wants

  453. to walk by faith, not by sight.

  454. Yeah.

  455. But it's a day by day, moment by moment thing,

  456. all right, and we've got to apply ourselves to it.

  457. We've got to be deliberate.

  458. Yeah.

  459. So, as Jonathan said, we're gonna have a time of worship.

  460. So if you are in that place where you want

  461. some degree with you in prayer about something during that time,

  462. come forward and somebody you'll pray with you. If you don't,

  463. that's totally cool. Rob
