  1. Every Bible is turning with me Matthew six. This morning

  2. we'll pick up back in our series through Matthew Chapter six.

  3. Jesus is sermon on the Mount, and so if you'll

  4. turn there with me, we're gonna start verse twenty five.

  5. And just a moment, I tell you, I'm just I'm

  6. full already. I have been so blessed. I don't know

  7. about you, but just going through Matthew six has been

  8. so refreshing to my spirit, just my growth as your pastor,

  9. this passage has meant so much to me and so

  10. and just the worship's just been right alongside with what

  11. God's word has been doing. So I hope today that

  12. the Lord will minister to your soul like he's minister

  13. to mine. As I've been able to prepare for this

  14. morning to type title of my sermon this morning, can

  15. stop worrying? How many of you here today worry? Hey man,

  16. all of us need to throw our hands up right.

  17. We all worry. We all struggle with worry today. As

  18. you come into today, have you worried about something? And

  19. what you just think about today? If you're going to

  20. meet with the Lord, we come into this place and

  21. meet with the Lord right to encounter his presence. If

  22. you're going to encounter the Lord today, you're gonna meet

  23. with the Lord today, and you were going to share

  24. with him one of your worries this morning. What would

  25. that worry be? What would be something that's heavy on

  26. your heart? I worried that you have this morning? What

  27. do you think about that? I think about what it is?

  28. What is it in your life today that is causing

  29. you a great deal of worry? You know? I heard

  30. of an individual and he had a lot of worry.

  31. His worry was credit card debt. He just had a

  32. lot of it, even like a mountain. He had lost

  33. his job, his card been repossessed, his house was in foreclosure.

  34. He talked to his friend and he says, but I'm

  35. not worried about it. He said, you're not worried about it?

  36. I mean, you're you got all this credit card debt,

  37. you're losing you lost your job, you're losing your car,

  38. You're about to lose your house. How are you not worried?

  39. He said, No, I'm not worried about it at all.

  40. He said, I've hired a professional worrier that he does

  41. all the worrying for me. He said, that way, I

  42. don't have to worry about it. He said, man, that's fantastic.

  43. He said, how much does professional worrier cost you? How

  44. much does he charged for his services? Fifty thousand dollars

  45. a year. He's fifty thousand dollars a year. How can

  46. you afford that? How can you afford to pay him?

  47. When you're losing your house, you're losing your car, you're

  48. losing your you've lost your job. He says, I don't know.

  49. That's his job. That's what I hired him to do.

  50. You know, this morning, I want to encourage you. This morning,

  51. there is a professional worrier, and there's a professional that

  52. you can cast your cares upon. And his name is Jesus.

  53. The Bible says that one Peter five seven, cast all

  54. your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. This morning,

  55. whatever you came in with today, as far as worry, can,

  56. I tell you, your father is in heaven wants to hear it.

  57. And today he says, cast out upon him. This morning

  58. we want to work through a passage of scripture. Jesus

  59. is on the he's on the mountain top and he's

  60. doing a sermon and he is talking about the issue

  61. of worry. Now, I think it's very important as we

  62. kind of go on Sunday morning, we kind of go

  63. a little, little, small passages at a time. But you

  64. have to understand, when Jesus preached his sermon, he preached

  65. it all at once. We're breaking it up one Sunday

  66. after another because you don't you know, I don't ask

  67. you to bring food in, right, you don't bring a

  68. snack lunch or a box lunch so that you could

  69. hear it all at once, and so we break it

  70. up to pieces. But they did. They were on the

  71. mountain and they heard all this sermon at once, and

  72. so all these ideas of even what we talked about

  73. last week really come in together. And so I want

  74. you to look at just real quick before we look

  75. at the main passage, if you'll remember what Jesus talked

  76. about last week. Last week he told the congregation that

  77. had gathered on that mountain to hear him preach. He

  78. talked about not storing treasures in heaven, and he said

  79. these words, don't lay up your treasures on earth, where

  80. moth and ross destroy, where thieves break in, and still

  81. lay up for yourself treasures in heaven, where neither mouth

  82. or rust destroy, where these do not break in. And

  83. still where your treasure is there, your heart will be also.

  84. And he says the eye is the lamp of the body.

  85. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will

  86. be full of light. But if your eye is bad,

  87. your old body will be full of darkness. If then

  88. the light is in you as darkness, how great is

  89. the darkness? Verse twenty four. He says, no one can

  90. serve two masters, for you either hate the one and

  91. love the other, or you'll be devoted to the one

  92. and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

  93. So Jesus commanded them in his sermon before he went

  94. to the part of the sermon that we're going to

  95. look at this morning, and one of the parts he

  96. talked about was where you're storing your treasures, And I

  97. want to just look at that real quick, and he

  98. identified where your treasure is there your heart is. He

  99. even went so far and this passage to say where

  100. your treasure is indicates where your heart is. If you're

  101. storing your treasures on earth, that's where your heart is.

  102. If you store your treasures in heaven. That's where your

  103. heart is. If you store your treasures on earth, that's

  104. what you really love. You love the things of the earth.

  105. If you store your treasures in heaven, what you really

  106. love is your relationship with the Lord. And then he

  107. goes into not only does your treasure indicate where your

  108. heart is, but where your heart is is what you'll seek.

  109. And he talked about your eyes and your eyes are

  110. set a guide or what direction you're going. And if

  111. your heart is set upon the treasures of earth, you're

  112. gonna seek the treasures of earth. You're gonna pursue those things.

  113. If your eyes and your heart I mean, if your

  114. heart is set on heaven and you love God, then

  115. you're going to seek the things of God. And in turn,

  116. he goes on further to say, where your heart is

  117. is what you'll seek. But where your heart is not

  118. only what you'll seek, but where your heart is is

  119. also what you will serve. And he uses its terms

  120. you'll be slaved to something. You'll either be a slave

  121. to the things of this world and serve the things

  122. of this world, or you'll be a servant, or you'll

  123. be a slave to the king of kings, And Lord

  124. of lords, and you'll serve him. Whereas we come to

  125. this passage of scripture, he just finishes that section, and

  126. as he comes to this passage, he assumes, and I

  127. think it's very important as we read this passage of scripture,

  128. he assumes that you and I have made the right choice.

  129. He assumes that you have chosen not to seek and

  130. store treasures on earth, not to seek treasures on earth,

  131. not to serve things of earth. He assumes that you

  132. and I have chosen to love God, and that's where

  133. our heart is.

  134. He's assumed that we will choose to seek His kingdom,

  135. to seek serving him, living for him. He assumes that

  136. you are committed to serving God, not serving the things

  137. of this world. And so with that understanding, he comes

  138. into this morning's passage. Now that we know that you're

  139. seeking the kingdom, that you love God, and that's where

  140. your heart is, and you're serving God.

  141. Now he goes into the next part. Let's stand and

  142. let's look at the word of God this morning that

  143. Jesus has Versus is his words, and so we stand

  144. in reverence to Jesus' words. Matthew chapter six, starting verse

  145. twenty five, and he says Therefore, I tell you, do

  146. not be anxious about your life, what you'll eat, or

  147. what you'll drink, nor about your body. What you'll put

  148. on is not life more than food, in the body

  149. more than clothing. Look at the birds, he says, of

  150. the air. Neither they sow, nor reap, nor gather into bars.

  151. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more

  152. valuable than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can

  153. add a single hour to his span of life? And

  154. why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of

  155. the field, how they grow. They neither toil nor spend. Yeah,

  156. I tell you eat Even Solomon and all his glory

  157. was not a rain like one of these. But if

  158. God so close the grass of the field, which is

  159. today alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, which

  160. he will, he not much more clothe you, oh you

  161. of little faith. Therefore, do not be anxious sink what

  162. shall we what shall we eat? Or what shall what

  163. shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For the

  164. gentile sea character of all these things, and your heavenly

  165. Father knows that you need them all. But verse thirty three,

  166. seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and

  167. all these things will be added to you. Therefore, don't

  168. be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for

  169. itself sufficient, For today is its own trouble. Let's pray together, Father,

  170. we or Lord you are here and we have sinsed

  171. that from the beginning of the service. God, we have

  172. declared with our voices and song that Lord, who can

  173. satisfy us? Oh, Lord, it's you, Jesus, and Lord, I

  174. pray today that we would seek your word to satisfy

  175. the longings of our heart. Lord, I pray, as I

  176. prayed earlier with our elders, that today you would do

  177. heart surgery and Lord, places where our heart's not in

  178. the right place. God, I pray you correct it, you

  179. would fix it. You would Lord, convict it today, that

  180. today our hearts would be in line with your heart.

  181. Today we would find our satisfaction and only you, Lord,

  182. So lead us, Lord from worry, lead us to your truth.

  183. Move Lord today by your spirit, and may you give

  184. us so surrender today in your name we pray, Amen,

  185. you may be seated. So this morning Jesus starts by

  186. saying not worry, And so this morning, as we walk

  187. through our sermon today, Why so stop worrying? So why

  188. should we stop worrying? And first, we should stop worrying

  189. because worry misplaces our value. Because worry misplaces our value.

  190. You come to this passage of scripture and CHRISTI is

  191. saying good. At the very beginning of this passage, verse

  192. twenty five, he says, therefore, right, therefore, because you're going

  193. to seek what the Lord, because you love the Lord,

  194. and your treasure's in heaven, because you seeking after the

  195. things in heaven, because you are serving the things of heaven. Therefore,

  196. stop worrying, he says, as you look at this, if

  197. you go back with me to verse nineteen, look at

  198. the wording there at the beginning of nineteen of the

  199. previous part of the sermon, he says, do not lay

  200. up for yourselves treasures in heaven. The best translation from

  201. the Greek from this, what we have in our version

  202. is do not lay up is in the Greek, it's

  203. better translated to stop stop laying up treasures in heaven. Now,

  204. Jesus says, because you stop doing that, and you're seeking

  205. the Kingdom of God, and you're seeking righteousness, and you're

  206. seeking to serve the Lord. Now, he says, in another place,

  207. stop worrying. Therefore, same, I tell you the same idea,

  208. do not be anxious. Stop being anxious about your life.

  209. It is the idea. Don't stop. Stop doing this now.

  210. Throughout this entire sermon of Matthew, chapter six that we've

  211. seen he actually starts in five, but six has kind

  212. of been our focus. Jesus has consistently done this, this

  213. teaching model where he says, don't do this, but do this,

  214. or if you remember this, we have seen this consistently

  215. every week, week after week, Jesus says this, don't do this,

  216. but do this right. When we started this series, he

  217. started about giving, and he says giving to the poor.

  218. He says, don't what. Don't give that you might be seen, right,

  219. but instead give that your father, who sees you in secret,

  220. will rewards you. Don't what, don't pray that you might

  221. be heard, but in turn, what pray that your father,

  222. who will see you in secret? Right? Don't fast that

  223. you might be seen, but instead fast in secret so

  224. your father, who will see you and see, will reward you. Right.

  225. Last week, stop worrying instead, what seek to serve the Lord?

  226. Stop storing up treasures instead lay up treasures in heaven. Right,

  227. so this morning he does the same thing. He says,

  228. stop worrying, and just a little bit he gives us

  229. reasons why we shouldn't worry. But then he's going to

  230. show us what we should do later on at the bottom,

  231. I mean, at the end of kind of at the

  232. end of dis scermon. So as you think about what

  233. he's why, he's asking us what we should stop worrying about.

  234. Look at what he says here in this passage. He says, therefore,

  235. I tell you do not be anxious about what was

  236. He tells us we shouldn't worry about We should not

  237. worry about our life. Jesus explains this in different pieces.

  238. Says what he says, do not worry about your life,

  239. what you will eat or what you will drink, nor

  240. about your body. Jesus is saying, we are stopped. We

  241. need to stop worrying about things in our life and

  242. the things that have to do with our physical necessity,

  243. things that we feel like we have to have in

  244. order to have an abundant life or a life. He

  245. almost gives this. As you finish, as you continue to

  246. read the passage of scripture, he says, don't worry. Don't

  247. be anxious about your life what you'll eat or what

  248. you'll drink, nor about your body what you'll put on.

  249. And then listen to this rhetorical question that he puts

  250. at the end of verse twenty five. Is not life

  251. more than food is? And is not life more? It

  252. is not the body more than clothing. He's saying that you, individually,

  253. at times, we worry about life, and we worry about clothes.

  254. We worry about food, And he's saying, listen, your life

  255. is more valuable than food. Your life is more valuable

  256. than what clothes you have to put on. And he

  257. then starts walking through DA Carson said about this passage.

  258. A Carson is a New Testament scholar, and he says this.

  259. He says, worrying Jesus is saying worrying about lesser things

  260. like food and clothing is implying that our entire existence

  261. is on and limited to such things as food and clothes.

  262. He saying, listen, you think you've reduced the value of

  263. your life down to the rudimentary things of food and clothing.

  264. You think that's life is all about these things. There's

  265. more to life than food and clothing, and he walks through.

  266. He gives two examples of why how our worry misplaces

  267. our value. We put the value of our life in

  268. the wrong things. He gives two examples of how God

  269. provides for us and how God will provide for us

  270. food and how God will provide for us clothing. He

  271. first gives this example of the birds. Let's look at

  272. the passage of scripture. He says verse twenty six. Look

  273. at the birds. He says of the ear. They neither sow,

  274. nor read, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly

  275. Father feeds them. Are you not more value than these?

  276. He describes these birds and how they don't sew, they

  277. don't reap, they don't store, they don't do anything to

  278. produce food for themselves, Yet God provides for them. They

  279. don't do anything to merit God. I've done something good,

  280. therefore you should do this for me, right? God just

  281. simply cares for them and the message in this passage.

  282. Look at verse twenty six at the end, Are you

  283. not more valuable than the birds? They don't do anything

  284. to merit my provision? Yeah, I love them and I

  285. care for them. How much more valuable are you that

  286. just as I provided for them, so my eye provide

  287. for you. He only says that he's provided for the birds,

  288. but he also describes he again the two things that

  289. they're worrying about. He says we should not worry about

  290. is food and clothing. He describes how He's provided adequately food.

  291. Now he goes to the next issue of things that

  292. we worry about, and that is clothing. One. I was

  293. talking to a professor this week at Southeastern and he

  294. said that in his imagination, he thinks that when Jesus

  295. is speaking, he's talking about men and women. He said,

  296. men think all about food and women think about clothing,

  297. so he's addressing both. I'm not I think it's a theory,

  298. but he says, So for you who are hungry, you

  299. know we've satisfied God to provide for you later. So

  300. just listen to the message. Second part is for those

  301. who are anxious about clothes, listen to what he says

  302. in verse twenty eight. And why are you anxious about clothing?

  303. He says, consider listen, consider the lilies of the field,

  304. how they grow. They neither toil nor spin either. I

  305. tell you. Even Solomon and all his glory was not

  306. a rain like one of these. But if God so

  307. closed the grass of the field, which today is alive

  308. and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more

  309. will he clothe you? Owe you a little faith? Just

  310. think about the flowers. You think about flowers, Remember dandelions, Right,

  311. they come up in the spring and you pull them, right,

  312. they get the little things, you blow them on, and

  313. then they're gone, just for a second they've sprout, and

  314. then they are gone. Jesus says, I clothed the flowers

  315. that are here one day and are gone tomorrow. Who

  316. the existence of a flower is so temporary that it

  317. only lasts a few days. Yet I so clothed them.

  318. And he says, listen, you are my creat creation. Do

  319. you know of all creation? If all animals and plants?

  320. God created you in Genesis in his image. He created

  321. you uniquely like no other. You are his image. Bears.

  322. You are valued in God's sight. And because God so

  323. values you in your life, just as He's clothed as

  324. he fed the birds, as he's clothed the lilies, so

  325. your God will provide what you need for the very

  326. central elements of your life. Right, we need the essential

  327. elements of our life we need food, elements of our

  328. body is we need clothing. And God will say, I

  329. so value you as my creation because you're you're you're

  330. made in my image. I will provide what you need.

  331. May you rest in my provisions. You ever met someone

  332. that they're like their their entire relationship with you as

  333. built upon it, dependent upon materials and getting things are

  334. give you some of my past history. Back in college,

  335. I dated a girl one time. Brady knows all about this,

  336. don't don't. This is no surprise. I dated a guy

  337. a girl, and in college, we gotta be careful how

  338. you say that. A girl and she was happy in

  339. the relationship as long as I took her to nice restaurants,

  340. as long as I bought her certain things. But the

  341. moment I ran out of money and I couldn't take

  342. her to the nice restaurants. I couldn't. I couldn't take

  343. her to the nice I couldn't buy her the nice things.

  344. She was not happy in the relationship. You see the

  345. problem with that relationship was it was dependent upon her

  346. happiness to depend upon things, not dependent upon a relationship

  347. with me. Jesus is saying in this passage of scripture.

  348. Your happiness in your life you've reduced to. You're like

  349. the needy girlfriend. You're only happy is if you're getting

  350. what you want for life. If you're only if you're

  351. getting the food that you want, or you're getting the clothing,

  352. or on you're getting the material things in your life,

  353. you're happy. But you're just You're not just simply happy

  354. having a relationship with me that Jesus. Who can satisfy

  355. my soul? No one but you, Jesus. Clothing won't satisfy,

  356. food won't satisfy. Material things in life will not satisfy God.

  357. Only you will satisfy my soul. Stop worrying because you're

  358. worrying and you're misplacing your value. You are more valuable

  359. than food in clothing. Secondly, stop worrying because worry has

  360. no value this passage. He says in verse twenty seven,

  361. which of you being anxious can add a single hour

  362. to the span of his life? Jesus is I mean

  363. just simply. I know it's a simple statement, maybe elementary statement,

  364. but he's asking the question, right who of you? Can

  365. I ask you who in this room, who's watching online

  366. or TV? Who by you worrying and your worry thoughts,

  367. or you're worry in your life, you're worried this morning

  368. before you got how who of you, by your worry

  369. can add one single hour to your life? Like it doesn't.

  370. At the central of our worry is this idea that

  371. we are worried about something that we need, food, clothing,

  372. whatever it may be. And if I worry about it,

  373. maybe I can figure out how I can fix it,

  374. or how I can make it better. But reality is

  375. by worrying it, whoever fixes it, whoever satisfies it, whoever

  376. makes it better, whoever I mean many times, at the

  377. centerlar worries is I just need some more time. Right,

  378. If I could think a little bit about this, or

  379. I could work on this, I can maybe what fix it.

  380. But the reality is worrying does not provide food, right.

  381. Worrying doesn't provide you clothing. Worrying doesn't add time to

  382. your life. Simply, worry adds no value to your life, nothing,

  383. not a single hour. Nothing I heard of someone said

  384. describe worrying. Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives

  385. you something to do, but it will get you nowhere.

  386. And that the truth today simply understand God's telling you

  387. stop worrying because your life is more valuable than your things.

  388. Stop worrying because you're worrying is adding no value to

  389. your life. Thirdly, which is stop worrying because worry exposes

  390. our weak faith. So what he says in this passage

  391. of scripture, he says, in verse twenty nine, I tell

  392. you even Solomon, in all his glory, was not a

  393. raid like one of these. But if God so closed

  394. the grass of the field, which is today alive and

  395. tomorrow's thrown into the oven, will he not much more

  396. clothe you? Owe you of little faith? D Carson says,

  397. the root of all worry is unbelief. We worry because

  398. we're just not so sure that God will actually do

  399. it right. We're not so sure that God will actually

  400. provide that clothing that I need, that food that I need,

  401. that relationship that I need, that job I think I need.

  402. That you name it my health. I don't know if

  403. you'll fix my health, God, So we think that Lord, I,

  404. because I'm not so sure that you will actually will

  405. provide for what I need, I worry at the center

  406. of it, really, isn't it, we say, God? I can't

  407. really trust you, so I'll trust in my ability to

  408. provide for myself. God only really know if you'll fix

  409. if you ever provide me that relationship that I want. God,

  410. I don't know if you ever fixed my marriage. I

  411. don't know if you ever provide me that job I

  412. really love or I really will love, or I don't

  413. know if you'll provide me that car or that house

  414. or whatever it may be. And I'm not really satisfied

  415. with what I have right now. So God, and I

  416. don't know what if you'll provide for me in the future.

  417. So God, let me take out of your hands, you

  418. being the provider, and in turd God, I'll provide for myself. God,

  419. I won't really trust you with this thing. I'll trust

  420. I'll take this one into my own hands. And Jesus says,

  421. when we worry, our worry exposes our weak faith. You

  422. ever had a time this happened literally yesterday? Well your

  423. wife for me, Brandy says, Jonathan, would you do this?

  424. So do this for me? Maybe it's vacuum. I do

  425. really good. I pay good. Lines in the carpet if

  426. you don't know what the lines in the carpet is

  427. on shag carpet. When you vacuum, it create lines. Okay,

  428. I know that's new for some people. Berber Carpet did

  429. away with that, okay. But so maybe she asked me

  430. to vacuum the carpet and I come home and I

  431. see the lines, and I'd say to Brandy, hey, I

  432. told you i'd do it. Well, I just went ahead,

  433. did it. Well, why'd you go ahead and do it?

  434. I said I would do it? Well, you know, I

  435. just went ahead did it because I was I was

  436. really worried that you wouldn't do what you said you

  437. were going to do. And that's what we do with

  438. the Lord, right. God, God tells us that he'll provide

  439. all of our needs according to what his riches in heaven.

  440. But we say, God, I know you say you'll provide

  441. for me my clothing, my food, everything for the bare

  442. necessities of my life, to everything I need according to

  443. your riches in heaven. You'll provide for me. But God,

  444. I really just don't know if I could trust what

  445. your word says. So God, let me take that one

  446. off of you, and God, I will find my treasure

  447. on earth and I'll try to fix this in my life.

  448. I won't really seek Lord, what you I'll see what

  449. I won't. And God, don't worry. I've got it. And

  450. in the end we're telling God, God, I don't really

  451. trust you, and Jesus says, you of little faith. Verse

  452. thirty two says for the gentile seeker after these things,

  453. the gentiles are seeking after their treasures, and he says,

  454. and when you don't trust me, you're acting like them.

  455. You're acting like unbelievers. Jesus turns his passage after he's

  456. kind of give them as I've described here, Stop worrying

  457. because worry misplaces our values. Stop worrying because worry has

  458. no value. Third, stop worrying because worry exposes our weak faith.

  459. Now he turns into Okay, what should we do our

  460. response to worry? According to Jesus in this passage of scripture,

  461. he says verse thirty two, the gentiles seek after them

  462. these things, and your father knows that you need them all. Listen,

  463. there is not one need before you walk to the

  464. door this church that you had on your mind of

  465. a worry that God the Father didn't already know you

  466. needed nothing. Jesus knows exactly what you need for your work.

  467. For your home, for your health, your food, your clothing,

  468. everything that you need. Jesus already knows it. And Jesus says,

  469. in turn verse thirty three, what should we do with worry?

  470. If we're going to stop worrying, what are we going

  471. to do? In turn? Right? He says, seek first the

  472. Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things

  473. will be added to you. What should we do in turn?

  474. We should seek God first. I don't want to go

  475. back to the very beginning. As we showed you this morning.

  476. In our last series, we really talked. We talked about

  477. an earthly treasure and a heavenly treasure. Right. We talked

  478. about in that sermon that earthly treasures were temporal, right,

  479. Heavenly treasures were eternal. Right. Earthly treasures were unsecure, Heavenly

  480. treasures were secure. Right. There was examples of earthly treasures

  481. that we pursue. Money, material homes, what cars, close, academics,

  482. are works. These are things that we can seek. Right.

  483. Then there's heavenly treasures that Jesus talked about. He says,

  484. don't store your treasures on earth, but instead, what store

  485. your treasures in heaven? Treasures and heavens are eternal, they're

  486. secure examples of there's righteous deeds like prey and get

  487. giving to the poor, and fasting, right, persecution, evangelism, giving.

  488. He says, seek these things right. And Jesus has assumed

  489. that you have chosen what to store your treasures in heaven.

  490. And as a result, he says, stop worrying. There's no

  491. value in it. It misplaces your value, and it exposures

  492. your weak faith. And again he brings back and now

  493. he says, what seek the Kingdom of God? And here

  494. in this passage scripture, what is he saying? Just says

  495. you don't store treasures and men on earth, but you

  496. store treasures in heaven. Now he says, don't listen, don't

  497. seek the kingdom of earth, seek the Kingdom of heaven. Understand,

  498. if you remember with me right, where our treasure is

  499. indicates where our heart is. Where our heart is is

  500. what we seek, and where our heart is is what

  501. will serve you. Know. The reason why we worry, going

  502. back to the very beginning, is because we really love

  503. and we really are seeking the kingdom of earth. Really,

  504. it comes down to worry is a heart issue. It

  505. really identifies what we truly love. You know why we

  506. get so upset when we don't get what we want

  507. or get what we need, because we really love the

  508. things of this earth more than we love the things

  509. of God. And that's really what we really want in life,

  510. is we really want our earthly kingdom. And Jesus is saying, listen,

  511. stop stop. Your life should be about loving Me, seeking

  512. my kingdom. And listen. When you seek me and you

  513. love me and you worship me, I'll provide all the

  514. other things that you need. Stop seeking the wrong things.

  515. Seek me. Lastly, rest in God's provisions for today, the

  516. passage says, and he ends here Therefore, do not be

  517. anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself,

  518. sufficient for the day of its own trouble. I've given

  519. just what you need for today. Rest in that, and

  520. we'll close with this and ask the band that can

  521. come on up. This is the scenario. This is not

  522. a true thing, even though my Caroline is senior and

  523. about to go to college. But just imagine this scenario

  524. if I did this with Carolina. Imagine Caroline's going off

  525. to college in a few months and I said, Carolina, Caroline,

  526. you're gonna go off to college. And I tell you

  527. what I'm going to do for you. I'm going to

  528. open it up a checking account for you, and in

  529. that checking account, I'm gonna provide everything that you need

  530. for food while you're in college. I'm also in that

  531. checking account, it's gonna provide for you all the some

  532. money for you to have all the clothing that you need.

  533. The only thing I ask you to do is God's

  534. called you to go to school, and I want you

  535. to be faithful to that calling, to finish what God's

  536. called you to do your education. That's all I ask you,

  537. all right, is go to school. I provided all you

  538. need for food and clothing. Go and may stay faithful

  539. or what I've called you to do or what not.

  540. I've called you what God's called you to do. Imagine

  541. a few months into the semester, fall semester, it's October

  542. and I noticed checking accounts kind of low. I call Caroline,

  543. I said, Caroline, what's wrong? Is everything okay? Th this

  544. account's kind of low? With Daddy, I'm just you know,

  545. I could tell there's worrying of voice. And I say,

  546. with Caroline, what what's wrong? Why? Why do you why

  547. do you sound so stressed. Why do you sound so

  548. worried with Daddy? I just I don't know that I

  549. don't have any more money, and I don't have I

  550. have money for food. And I say, well, Caroline, I

  551. provided you all that you needed for food. Where is

  552. that with Daddy? You know how I love cheesecake Factory,

  553. and you know I love Starbucks, and I just I

  554. went spending it all and and Daddy, it's getting cold,

  555. and Daddy, I won't have any clothes. What, honey, where's

  556. all that money I put in that checking account for

  557. that your clothes with Daddy? That Belk had a nice

  558. sell and the summer end of the year clearance. And

  559. I spent all that money on you know, Belk or

  560. whatever it is. And I won't have any more money

  561. for clothing. Daddy starts crying. Daddy, I know you told

  562. me to stay faithful to what God called me to

  563. do with school. But Daddy, I'm afraid I'm going to fail. Caroline.

  564. Why are you going to fail? Well, Daddy, I had

  565. to get a job. Well, honey, why did you get

  566. a job? Because with Daddy, I didn't have any money

  567. for food. I didn't have money for clothes, so I

  568. had to go get a job to help take care

  569. of the needs. And I would say to her, by, honey,

  570. I've already provided for you all that you needed. You see,

  571. that is what we do with God. God says in

  572. this passage of Scripture, I've got a calling for you.

  573. I've got a plan for you, and I provided all

  574. that you need to accomplish the mission. And we start,

  575. instead of seeking the mission that God's called us on

  576. and seeking what God has commanded us seeking him, we

  577. seek things, and we get ourselves involved and seeking the

  578. things that we forget about what God has called us to.

  579. Because we love the things, We love this earthly kingdom

  580. more than we love God. Today, listen, Jesus says to you,

  581. and I listen. Seek me, seek me, love me, seek

  582. my righteousness. I've given you enough for today, and today

  583. is enough. Don't worry. There's no value in it. You're

  584. more valuable than all the things of creation. Don'll provide

  585. for you. Seek me, Hey, don't worry. You can't add

  586. anything by worrying. Seek me today, the Father says, seek me.

  587. Put your faith in me, not in your own ability,

  588. not in your own works. Seek me today. I'll ask

  589. you as you come in today full of worries? What

  590. are you seeking? Where's your heart? Let's pray Lord, I

  591. thank you Lord for this morning. And Lord, so many

  592. times Lord, we get wrapped and chasing the things of

  593. this world that God, we lose sight of Lord You. Lord,

  594. I pray today that we would do you an honest

  595. evaluation of where our heart is. What are we seeking today? Lord?

  596. I pray there'd be something today would be honest and

  597. say you, Lord, I really love the things of this

  598. world more than I love you. In my life, I've

  599. reduced to just finding and filling it with things of

  600. this world and instead of feeling it with you. And

  601. I pray they'd be those today would say God, I

  602. don't want more things of this world. God, I just

  603. simply want you, Jesus and God, I declare today I

  604. will seek you and God, I'll rest in what you've

  605. given me. And God, you are enough today for me.

  606. Lor however you lead us today, I pray today would

  607. be the day that we would respond to you and

  608. how you're calling us in the service in your name,

  609. we pray Jesus M.
