Hello us CF. For those who don't know, my name
-
is Joel, and I'll begin to briefly explain where the
-
name Emanuel in the Bible cop comes from and how
-
it can be interpreted. The name Emmanuel can be found
-
in Isaiah chapter seven and eight and Matthew chapter one,
-
verse twenty three. Matthew Chapter one, vers. Twenty three reads,
-
Behold the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and
-
they shall go his name Emmanuel, and Isaiah is seven
-
fourteen also says, therefore the Lord himself will give you
-
a sign. Behold, the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
-
and shall call his name Emmanuel. Isaiah chapter eight, verse
-
eight references the name Emmanuel, and it will sweep on
-
into Judah. It will overflow and pers on, reaching even
-
into the neck, and its outspread wings will feel the
-
breadth of your land over Emmanuel. So Emanuel originates from
-
an ancient Hebrew language written in the Bible. Emanuel is
-
an example of a theophoric name. A theophoric name means
-
a personal name that incorporates the name of God. For example,
-
Every means lion, l means God that puts together a
-
line of God. Netanya, who Netan means has given Ya,
-
who means God, and that means God has given Emanuel
-
e Manu with us ol God. Therefore you get God
-
with us. So initially, Emmanuel was the name of a
-
child from a certain hystical time period. Once upon a
-
time the Old Testament, Hebrews who were united as one
-
nation under King David and were divided into two kingdoms,
-
Israel and Judah. A Has in the Kingdom of Judah
-
feared destruction by other nations. Isaiah was a prophet of
-
God who God used to speak to a Has to
-
show him that he would not let Judah be destroyed. However,
-
a Has had doubts and if he refused to ask
-
for science that God would protect his kingdom, God promised
-
sign of a virgin who would bear a child called Emmanuel.
-
According to the Bible, Emanuel's not just a name, it
-
is the truth. So when it comes to interpreting the
-
name of Emmanuel, Emanuel can be interpreted as a scientiic
-
king it has during the period of his military crisis,
-
and the symbol that God was with Judah in moments
-
of fear, danger, and uncertainty. It's also interpreted as God
-
with us in human form through Jesus Christ himself. As
-
Matthew chapter one, verse twenty three quotes Isaiah chapter seven
-
or fourteen, and not only does it apply to you
-
the birth of Jesus, but also explains that Jesus is
-
the ultimate Emmanuel Emanuel also interpreted as God keeping his promises,
-
as the prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled hundreds of years later.
-
And that's all for me. Thank you for listen.
-
Good morning. So what does Emmanuel? What does Emmanuel mean
-
to me? So Matthew one twenty three says, the virgin
-
will conceive and give better a son, and they will
-
call him Immanuel, which means God with us. When I
-
think about the phrase God with us or God with me,
-
I think about how God humbled himself to be born
-
of a woman so he could experience human life and
-
die the ultimate death for us. He was separated from
-
God so that we don't have to be He demonstrated
-
his love for us by dying for us while we
-
were still sinners. And He loves each and every single
-
one of you in this room, and He's chosen all
-
of you. And God is waiting for you. So hold
-
onto his hand and allow him to walk with you. So,
-
because God is with us, God is our refuge and
-
our strength and our ever present help in trouble. Because
-
God is with us. God is within us. And we
-
will not fall because God is with us. Though we
-
walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, we
-
will fear no evil because God is with us. He
-
will be with us in the same way he was
-
with David when he conquered Goliath. Because God is with us,
-
he will be with us. He'll be the fourth man
-
in the fire, and we will come out of the
-
fire unscathed. So when you feel like every aspect of
-
your life is tumbling and nothing seems to be going
-
your way, and you have physically come to the end
-
of yourself, please do not lose hope, because that is
-
when Jesus will say, peace be still over your storm.
-
God is with you. So you and Jesus are an
-
unbeatabul team. So because God is with you, be strong
-
and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your
-
God will be with you wherever you go. The same
-
God that were real to Isiah that Emmanuel was coming
-
about seven hundred years before he came. That is your God,
-
that is my God. The promise Keeper. He's our God.
-
That is the God that is with us. So pick
-
up your Bibles and declare these truths over yourself, because
-
thy word is a lamp onto our feet and a
-
light onto our part. So if there's one truth to
-
carry with you this week, it is that God is
-
with you.
-
Thank you guys for those thoughts. Can give them another
-
round of apploors.
-
God bless you guys. So so now we're gonna be
-
taking communion, so we're gonna read together. Matthew twenty six,
