  1. H h good morning, okayama h okay.

  2. So, as I was preparing the message yesterday, the title

  3. of the Lord gave me was prioritizing his presence. That

  4. sounds okay, it sounds a bit tinny. So let's pray, Father,

  5. do pray that as we move into twenty twenty six,

  6. you would convey the message you want to convey this

  7. morning in Jesus name.

  8. Amen.

  9. So we all have priorities, okay. So we all have

  10. priorities in life, and the people still do it. People

  11. have their New Year resolutions and that people still do

  12. that sort of stuff. We all think we want to

  13. achieve in twenty twenty five, in twenty twenty six, and

  14. that's all well and good. However, our plans need to

  15. be bounded on the word of God and what God

  16. says to us personally and what God says to us corporately.

  17. And I believe the Lord knows to challenge us this

  18. morning for listen online or you're listening later in the room.

  19. You want to charge us about prioritizing His presence above

  20. other things. There are many voices crying out for our time.

  21. Where it's your family, whether it's your multiple social media accounts.

  22. If you're Dave, you've got multiple, multiple social media accounts,

  23. whether it's work or it's other things that can fill

  24. your life or fill your time. I think the Lord

  25. needs to emphasize us as we go into twenty twenty six,

  26. that we need to prioritize his presence above all else,

  27. and other things will fit into place.

  28. Johnny be at the first Scripture.

  29. So we're gonna have a look at One Kings seventeen.

  30. For a little while. We'll see how that goes. So

  31. One Kings is a.

  32. Very sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen is a very sort of

  33. familiar chapter. It talks about Elisha eli Ja Sorry, it

  34. talks about Ahab, who was a bad lad. He worshiped Baal,

  35. who was a fertility reign sort of god, and he

  36. had an interesting wife called as well. So we pick

  37. up the story in One King's seventeen when the Lord

  38. sent Elisha to make some declarations. One King seventeen says,

  39. and Elisha the Tishbite or the inhabitants of Gilead set

  40. to Ahab, as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives

  41. before whom I stand, there shall be not be jew

  42. nor rain these years except by my word. They had

  43. believed in Baal silly boy, Elijah believed in the one true,

  44. Living God. So as by to saying, it's not going

  45. to rain by your God. But the thing I wanted

  46. to notices, Elijah makes the statement before whom I stand

  47. and we stand, or we sit in the presence of

  48. God every day we're on the bus, we're at work,

  49. we're at school, wherever we are, we're in God's presence.

  50. We are God's representatives. People watch what we say, we

  51. watch what we do because we're God's representatives. This man

  52. understood he was standing in God's presence. God's presence wasn't

  53. something are they theoretical exercise?

  54. For him, It was a tangible truth.

  55. Yeah, and we stand while I stand anyway in God's

  56. presence this morning. Yeah, God is here, and God wants

  57. us to recognize that His presence goes with us, is

  58. around us all the time. Just because you cannot sense

  59. it or feel it doesn't mean he's not with us.

  60. Yeah.

  61. Sometimes you can tangibly feel the presence of God. Other

  62. times you cannot TANGI feel the presence. It doesn't mean

  63. he's not there. So Elijah delivered his word and then

  64. the Lord said to him in verse two of One

  65. King seventeen, the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

  66. get away from here and turn eastward and hide by

  67. the brook Cherif, which flows into the Jordan. And it

  68. will be that you shall drink from the brook. And

  69. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. So

  70. he went and did according to the word of the Lord.

  71. For he went and stayed by the brook Cheriff, which

  72. flowed into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and

  73. meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening,

  74. and he drank from the brook. And it happened after

  75. a while that the brook dried up because there had

  76. been no rain in the land. So noticed that Elijah

  77. recognized the presence of God. Elijah heard God. When we're

  78. in God's presence, it's easier for us to hear what

  79. is saying if we've got lots of other things competing

  80. for our time, which maybe that's a very valid There's

  81. lots of things we have to do in life, but

  82. it's how we prioritize it and what they'll want to

  83. draw out from here was alier. Was in God's presence

  84. and you heard what God said. God said to you, Okay,

  85. Now go and sit by the brook, sheriff, and I

  86. get some raiments to feed you in the day and

  87. evening and drink the water. You go, yeah, right, unless

  88. you're you know, you know it's God's voice. But he

  89. went because he knew it was God's voice. So it's

  90. important that we know God's presence so he can hear

  91. God's voice because the two things are linked. Yeah, if

  92. you cannot walk and be in God's presence, you're not

  93. going to hear what God is saying. If you're not

  94. going to hear what God is saying, you're on your own.

  95. Recommendation number one. You don't want to be on your own.

  96. We walk by faith and we don't walk by sight.

  97. We need the presence of God. Yes, so the brook

  98. dried up, so his source of supply.

  99. Was no more.

  100. Then God said, arise, go to Zerapith, which belongs to side,

  101. and then dwell there. See, I've commanded a widow there

  102. to provide for you. That's one King seventeen eight to nine.

  103. When we're walking in God's presence and we're getting into

  104. that pattern, God will speak to us and directors when

  105. some when one thing ends, another door opens. If we're

  106. not in that God, if we're not in God's presence,

  107. we're not gonna hear what God is saying. All right,

  108. this is this is fundamental, basic stuff. But this is

  109. what God wants to inform us today. So I'm just

  110. giving what we'en asked to give because we need to

  111. be reminded of the straightforward basics. That we walk in

  112. the basics. To get the basics right, other things will

  113. fall into place.

  114. All right.

  115. We do not know what twenty twenty six holds for

  116. the whole year, but we do know that we are

  117. going to have to walk by faith and not by sight,

  118. and we're going to have to prioritize God's presence to

  119. make sure we're ready to do what He wants us

  120. to do when He wants us to do it. We

  121. do not want to miss God. We do not want

  122. to miss God that God wants to do in our lives.

  123. And as a corporate body, yeah, we are all responsible.

  124. We are all responsible for hearing God for ourselves. It's

  125. not some days's responsibility hear God for you. Everyone is responsible.

  126. There's that old hym, isn't there? Trust and abbey. There

  127. is no other way to be happy in Jesus but

  128. to trust and obey. So we need to listen, trust

  129. and obey what God asked her to do. If we

  130. roll on now to one Kings nineteen, verse eleven onwards.

  131. This is after Elijah has been up to Mount Carmel.

  132. Is basically.

  133. Cut the trench around the offering, is filled it with water,

  134. is douse the offering with water. God's answer by fire

  135. and licked up all the water in the trench and

  136. burnt up the offering, and then is killed. So circle

  137. phones from the fifty profits of Baal. So they went

  138. from a big high to getting the message from Jezebels

  139. saying coming to get you. I'm going to kill you.

  140. And also had had a moment and it fled to

  141. Mount Carmel.

  142. So we just pick up.

  143. Whereas on Mount Carmel and the Lord said, go out

  144. and stand on the mountain before the Lord, and behold

  145. the Lord passed by. I was a great and strong

  146. wind into the mountain and broke the rocks in peace

  147. before the Lord. But the Lord was not in the wind.

  148. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was

  149. not in the earthquake, and after the earthquake a fire.

  150. But the Lord was not in the fire, and after

  151. the fire a still small voice.

  152. So it was when.

  153. Elijah heard it that he wrapped his face in his

  154. mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of

  155. the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him and said,

  156. what are you doing here, Elijah?

  157. And he went through his deal.

  158. We'll leave his deal, because that's not the point of

  159. the scripture. God wasn't in the wind, he wasn't in

  160. the earthquake, he wasn't in the fire, He was in

  161. the still small voice. I notice Elijah knew when it

  162. was time to go out. Timing is key to hearing

  163. from God. Okay, time is key to hearing from God.

  164. God speaks to us in different ways. God speaks to

  165. each individual. He has a pattern how he speaks to people.

  166. You need to find your pattern. Yeah, you need to

  167. find your pattern. God he is always speaking, but you

  168. need to find how he speaks to you. Yes, he

  169. speaks to you through the word. Yes he might drop

  170. something into your spirit. But he has a way of

  171. doing things all right, which is individual to you. Everyone

  172. in this room, everyone listening online, listening later is an individual,

  173. and God treats you like an individual. We're not all

  174. chocolate soldiers.

  175. Know.

  176. God treats us like individuals, and he speaks us individually,

  177. and he sounds like me. When he speaks to me,

  178. he sounds like me. And he speaks in English. Yeah,

  179. if you out from if you are next average in English,

  180. God might speak you a different way.

  181. The key is to hear and know God's pattern. Yeah.

  182. Psalm forty six and verse ten says, be still and

  183. know that I am God. Be still and know that

  184. I am God. One of the key things to hear

  185. clearphone God. One of the key things is to be still.

  186. In the world where it's twenty four seven, everything is

  187. going on. Nothing seems to stop. If something happens to

  188. the side of the world, if you look on your phone,

  189. it tells you about it in great detail. It's like, okay, right, whatever,

  190. you know, everything is moving, every's moving. But God says,

  191. be still and no, we need to create some bestill

  192. and no time. Jesus rose early in the morning or

  193. sometimes late in the evening.

  194. He go and pray.

  195. He was a busy boy because during the day he

  196. was out preaching and ministering and healing the sick, casting

  197. out devils, and he had an entourage that went with him,

  198. people around him all the time. Mark one thirty five

  199. puts it this way. Now, in the morning, having risen

  200. a long while before daylight, he went out and departed

  201. to a soldiery place, and there he prayed. So no electricity,

  202. no therm of all.

  203. No coffee.

  204. He went out to soldiery place to pray. He connected

  205. with the Father, and he walked in that presence through

  206. the day. Jesus our model. We need to follow his pattern. Yeah,

  207. he cheasing need to connect with the Father and walk

  208. in his presence. How much more do we need to

  209. do that. I'm not talking about ministry, per se, play

  210. hands on the sacred. I'm talking about just getting through

  211. the day successfully, walking by faith, walking in love, walking

  212. in peace, walking in forgiveness.

  213. We need that connection, We need.

  214. That presence daily to be successful in our daily walk. Yeah.

  215. Luke five sixteen, he himself often withdrew into the wilderness

  216. and prayed. Looke six po twelve. Now it came to

  217. pass in those days that he went out to the

  218. mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God.

  219. I'm not saying that we're gonna step all night and pray.

  220. It's just the principle we talk about here. Yeah, of

  221. prioritizing his presence, being still and receiving from God. Okay,

  222. says we move into twenty twenty six cod months to

  223. remind us of the fundamentals of relationship.

  224. If you're married, or you.

  225. Got kids who didn't speak to them all day and

  226. said nothing to him, and then said talked to him

  227. very briefly after a while. Here they say you've got

  228. a problem. Yeah, So how much more do we need

  229. to connect with the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit. You

  230. may not be a morning person. He may be like

  231. Dave who was an evening person. You just need to

  232. work out what works for you. Then stick with a battom.

  233. You to get accustomed to his voice, not the voices

  234. all around us. There are many voices crying for our

  235. time right now, many voices. We need to get accustomed

  236. to his voice. And the way you do that is

  237. by spending time with him, so you know when it's

  238. him speaking and not somebody else or the cheese you.

  239. Had, or whatever.

  240. Whoever God said will align with his word, will align

  241. with his principles. So it's important we deveout that habit.

  242. It's important as we don't fall into condemnation if we

  243. don't hear from God immediately. Some people wanted to hear

  244. from God and don't hear in that morning or in

  245. that moment, and some kind God. Sometimes God does that.

  246. He makes us wait longer and then he does speak.

  247. But God is always speaking. So you haven't heard him

  248. that morning, persevere, you might have to get up and

  249. go to work, but listen throughout the day. God is

  250. always speaking. He is always speaking. The key thing is

  251. we're not always listening, We're not always attuned to what

  252. He's saying. So never to never get into condemnation because

  253. that's not God's best. Trust God to speak to you.

  254. Thank God to speak to you, and listen. Larren Lee

  255. wrote a book called The Hearing Hear, Oh Gosh twenty

  256. five years ago about that to encourage people how to hear.

  257. MHM.

  258. You can't actually be taught out to hear. You have

  259. to you have to catch it and then I appo.

  260. You have to catch You have to learn about that

  261. relationship and hear from God so you know it's him.

  262. So you know that you know that you know that

  263. you know it's him. Yeah, kah, m okay, So I

  264. think what we're going to do. Aren't going to stand up?

  265. We're going to pray and then I'll hand back over

  266. to Dave.

  267. Is that okay? Come on, Michael, kah, can I stand up? Please?

  268. We'll pray.

  269. M hm.

  270. Oh.

  271. Farther as we enter twenty twenty six. It's a new calendar, Lord,

  272. it's a new calendar.

  273. Thank Lord.

  274. You were doing a new thing. You're making away in

  275. the wellness. You're making rivers in a desert. You're opening

  276. doors that are being closed. You're creating space an opportunity

  277. with people. As far as you move in the people's

  278. lives who are standing here listen on line. Later, Lord

  279. in Jesus name, I pray you give them a hearing

  280. ear to hear what you're saying. You'd attune their ear.

  281. To those who listen regularly, you would heighten their hearing.

  282. To those are don't listen regularly. You encourage them to

  283. listen regular Lord in Jesus Name. So when you say

  284. this is the way, walk in it, they walk in

  285. your way. So far as you touch every person by

  286. your spirit in this room, it's an online later and

  287. listening now in Jesus name. They were here from heaven

  288. given the ability to organize our time, to prevent, prioritize

  289. your presence so they can hear what you are saying

  290. to them. They can walk in your faith, your hope,

  291. your love, your rhythm, miracles.

  292. In Jesus Name. Amen, Thank you Simon. It's just great

  293. to press into a new year listening to God. Let's

  294. just take our seats for a moment because I just

  295. want to do a couple of things before we come

  296. back to worship. I want to open a Christmas card,

  297. and I'd like some volunteers to open the Christmas card

  298. because it's come all the way from Uganda. It's from

  299. children at Abba Father's House, and I thought it'd be

  300. special to open it. It's got some great big letters

  301. on it for those who can says to the church,

  302. so it's not to me or to anybody else. It

  303. says love and joy to a to you Abba Father's

  304. House Christmas. So we're going to open that in a

  305. moment and let me just get a couple of notices

  306. out of the way and we'll take up our tithes

  307. and offerings as well. It's a quiet time. It's a

  308. good
