  1. Okay. It is an all agele nation service, so that

  2. means the children stay in there is no Sunday school.

  3. And I'm now going to reveal to you just how

  4. little I know about cooking because today, this month, we're

  5. talking about miracles, and I wanted to talk about what

  6. ingredients do we need for a miracle? So, and this

  7. is open for anybody, whatever age you are. If you

  8. can shout out really hand up and then I'll call

  9. your name out. If you can shout out a miracle

  10. that's in the gospels, you can get a chocolate anybody.

  11. Letty yep, lazare is his resurrection? Well done? Anna, water

  12. into wine? Yes, we're done. Anybody else who's going next?

  13. Come the storm? Jesus comes a storm? Yes, well done?

  14. That came back to life. Yes, anybody else? Woman with

  15. an issue of blood yet? Okay, and there'll be plenty

  16. more chocolates. But yes, okay. The point is there are

  17. lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and

  18. lots of miracles in the Bible, lots and lots and

  19. lots of them. And the first thing I want to

  20. say is this is only one side of the ingredients. Okay,

  21. the most important ingredients. I'm not going to talk about

  22. today because I'm taking them as given. God is God,

  23. He's supernatural, and He's able to do immeasurably more than

  24. we ask her imagine. So God is able to do

  25. the impossible. God is able to do the impossible. I'm

  26. not going to talk about what God does. I want

  27. to talk about our part to play in this. And

  28. so firstly, let's just get to A good school teacher

  29. would say, what's the definition of a miracle? Don't know

  30. how you might define America? But do you want to

  31. bring it up Selma or John whoever's running proclaim? Definition? Okay,

  32. it's an extraordinary and please notice I put and welcome.

  33. It's an extraordinary. Let me leave out and welcome for

  34. the moment. An extraordinary event that is not explicable by

  35. natural or scientific laws, so it can't happen naturally. Now

  36. I can't find and this is why I put these

  37. additional words in the definition. I can't find anywhere in

  38. the Bible where there is an unwelcome miracle. For the

  39. scholars in the room, can anybody think of an unwelcome miracle?

  40. Might have been a surprise, might have not been done

  41. the way you expected, but so an extraordinary and welcome

  42. event that is not explicable by natural things. Luke chapter eighteen,

  43. verse twenty seven says this as we just Jesus replied,

  44. what is impossible with man is possible with God, is

  45. possible with God. So there are many things that cannot happen.

  46. We've had testimonies. I don't need to God already laid

  47. the foundations for me to share this this morning, because

  48. we have already had testimonies with what God has done.

  49. So what's the purpose of a miracle? Why would why

  50. would God come and do a miracle? Do you think

  51. it's just to make us feel better? Do you think

  52. it's just to make us think, Oh, this is brilliant.

  53. What's the purpose of a miracle? Any suggestions erin to

  54. glorify God? Yes, bring it up, then, John, there's the

  55. primary purpose of a miracle is to bring glory to God.

  56. It's all about him, It's all about It's not about us.

  57. And as a consequence of Him getting glorified, there is blessing. Okay,

  58. the blessing is not the primary thing. The primary thing

  59. is God gets glorified, and there is blessing. Just just

  60. I just want to point talk. So someone gets blessed,

  61. someone gets healed. Think about the paralytic who get let

  62. down through the roof by his friends. Okay, so God

  63. was glorified, a miracle happened, the man was healed. Okay,

  64. but think about his friends. Because what did Jesus say

  65. to him? He said, take up your bed and walk

  66. because of his faith. He was healed. No, not because

  67. of his faith, because the because of the faith of

  68. his friends. Now, when you pray for someone and something happens,

  69. a miracle happens, you get a blessing too. But it's

  70. not the primary purpose. Primary purpose, God is glorified. Second purpose.

  71. Whatever the miracle is that whoever it happens to, they

  72. get blessed. But people associated participators get a blessing too.

  73. Please let me really be clear about it. That's not

  74. the primary focus. It's nice, it's good when it happens.

  75. We're excited about it, but we still need to focus

  76. on it's bringing glory to God. And actually, if we

  77. get it the wrong way around and say I prayed

  78. and God answered my prayers and it's all about my prayers,

  79. we're getting the wrong story here, guys. It's not about us.

  80. It's really, really really not about us. It's about Him, Okay,

  81. And if we start taking the glory, essentially may withdraw

  82. a little bit from us because He is the most

  83. important thing. Now, we don't make miracles, we don't do it. It's

  84. not us, it's God. And so I want to encourage

  85. you to choose to participate, to be ready, to be available.

  86. So what are the ingredients of ingredients of a miracle?

  87. Number one is we need faith. We need faith. We're

  88. not even going to if we don't believe that scripture

  89. that said what is impossible to man is possible to it.

  90. If we do not even believe that, and to believe,

  91. we need faith. What's the point in even praying if

  92. we don't believe? And you know what, faith builds faith

  93. When you see God answer prayer, you're more bold with

  94. the prayers that you pray. When you see God do

  95. a miracle in your midstory, here's somebody testify about what

  96. God God has done. You are willing to pray fur

  97. the Matthew twenty one, verse twenty one says this Jesus said, truly,

  98. I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt,

  99. not only can you do what he's done to the

  100. fig tree. But also you can say to this mountain,

  101. go throw yourself in the sea and it will be done.

  102. I don't know whether you feel like you have mountain

  103. moving faith today, but you know, God wants us to

  104. grow our faith, he says in scripture. And I haven't

  105. got this in the scripture Selma. He says, if you

  106. have the faith the size of a mustard seed, which

  107. will grow into a big tree, the faith the side

  108. of a mustard seeds are tiny, tiny, tiny thing. So

  109. firstly we need faith. Secondly, we need to be available.

  110. God is always available twenty four to seven. God is available,

  111. but we need to be available to ask, and so

  112. availability matters. God's interested in your availability. He wants to

  113. engage with you and me, and he wants to engage

  114. with other people to offer to pray. Therefore we step

  115. in faith. We ask and we believe, And as we

  116. ask and believe, God does the bit that he does,

  117. the miracle working stuff. Romans, Chapter fifteen, verses eighteen and

  118. nineteen says this, I will not venture to speak anything

  119. except that Christ is accomplished through me in leading the

  120. gentiles to obey God. By what I have said and done.

  121. This is Paul really saying, not about me, It's about him.

  122. Please don't look at me. I'm just the person who prayed.

  123. It's all about him. It's my availability that matters. I'm

  124. willing to pray, I'm willing to ask God, I'm willing

  125. to do something, and sometimes God will send us. He

  126. will ask you to go and pray. It happened this morning.

  127. Maureen was prompted by the Holy Spirit to go and

  128. pray for Abella. She was obedient. We responded to that.

  129. Part of the role of the MC in church on

  130. Sunday is just to bring a little bit of governance

  131. and guidance, because if you read the early Church, it

  132. was mayhem in the church. There were people running up

  133. and just giving testimonies and doing stuff. And it's just

  134. a way of just bringing in a little bit of order.

  135. So Maureen came and spoke to Julia. Julia handed another mic.

  136. We had some order. We pray for a brother. We're

  137. going to believe that God's going to do immeasurably more

  138. in your life of well than you even believe for

  139. So what happens when we're obedient, when we're available. Reading

  140. on in Romans fifteen, by the power and the signs

  141. and wonders through the power of the Holy Spirit. So

  142. signs and wonders follow with obedience. Our availability matters. We

  143. have to come in faith, and we have to walk

  144. in obedience. Exodus fifteen, verse twenty six. I'm rattling through

  145. the scriptures here, But Exodus fifteen, verse twenty six, did

  146. I put it in there? Yes? I did. He said,

  147. if you listen carefully to the Lord your God and

  148. do what he's right in his eyes, if you pay

  149. attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I

  150. will not bring you on you any of the diseases

  151. I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord

  152. who heals you. Supernatural healing is a miracle. I know

  153. there is natural healing. You know. We go and we

  154. go to doctors and they give us medicine, and we've

  155. got some wisdom about how to do that. But God

  156. does supernaturally what doctors cannot do naturally. I know there

  157. are people in this room who would say, doctors have

  158. said to them, this is a miracle, even though scientifically

  159. they're not allowed to say. That doesn't map in science.

  160. You know, miracles, confound science. I know in my notes

  161. at Bath hospital it says about my spleen that when

  162. I went to see the doctor after my Milaria said,

  163. this cannot be the man who I saw two weeks

  164. ago if his notes are right, because my spleen was

  165. bulging out my stomach and over two weeks it just

  166. God just did dealt with it. God is able to

  167. do immeasurably more than we ask him of SI that's

  168. faith the ingredients so far, faith, availability, and obedience. We

  169. also need to be willing more. In needed to be

  170. willing to step up. She could have just sat there

  171. and said, well, no, I don't want to make too

  172. much fuss. But you didn't, Mauring, did you? You pressed in,

  173. You stepped up. Willingness matters. We need to be willing

  174. to work with God and to be part of his hands.

  175. We need to offer prayer. Mark nine, verses seventeen to

  176. twenty three tells this story. A man in the crowd

  177. answered and said, teacher, I brought my son, who is

  178. possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.

  179. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground.

  180. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid.

  181. And I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit,

  182. but they could not. You unbelieving generation Jesus replied, how

  183. long shall I stay with you? How long shall I

  184. put up with you? Bring the boy to me. So

  185. they brought him, and when spirit saw Jesus, it immediately

  186. threw the boy into convulsion. He fell on the ground,

  187. rolled around, foaming at the mouth, and Jesus asked the

  188. boy's father, how long has he been like this from childhood?

  189. He answered, It has often thrown him into fire or

  190. water to kill him. But if you can do anything,

  191. take pity on us and help us. This man was desperate.

  192. If you can, said Jesus. If you can, said the man.

  193. So Jesus, everything is possible for one who believes he

  194. was healed, He was set free. God is able to

  195. do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. So our

  196. faith matters, our availability matters, our obedience matters, our willingness matters.

  197. And there's also something that's about timing. I don't know

  198. whether you've ever had God say I'm going to do

  199. a miracle, but you're going to have to wait five

  200. and a half years for it. That's a bit mean God.

  201. I mean, I think sometimes he might do that. But

  202. I sense that miracles are for now. There is a

  203. nowness about miracles. Things start. You may not have received

  204. your healing. Sometimes the lepers went and walked out their healing.

  205. As they walked, they were healed. They weren't instantly healed

  206. as they walked. As they went, they were healed, but

  207. the healing began. In my sense, there is a nowness

  208. in those things. Acts Chapter four, verses thirty one and

  209. thirty two says, stretch out your hand to heal and

  210. perform signs and wonders through the name of your Holy

  211. Servant Jesus. After they had prayed, the place where they

  212. were meeting was shaken, and they were all filled with

  213. the Holy Spirit, and spoke the Word of God boldly

  214. laid hands. The spirit moved, and the place was shaken.

  215. I hope the foundations in this bill are good because

  216. I sense in twenty twenty six there's going to be

  217. some shaking going on. I don't just mean shaking of

  218. your life or lives around you. I mean shaking of stuff.

  219. Foundations need to be shaken sometimes they need to be

  220. tested because on goods foundations you can build good things.

  221. So let me wrap this up. As Judia said, it's

  222. all age your nation service. So it was meant to

  223. be quick. There's five things, and I thought, I try

  224. and be a bit of a teacher here. So I

  225. don't know what the word fowan means. It sounds a

  226. bit cornish to me. But those five things to remember.

  227. Remember the word fouan, and then you might remember these

  228. five things that our part to play. God does his bit.

  229. He's a supernatural God is able to do him measurably

  230. more than we ask or imagine. But we need to

  231. come with faith. We need to walk in obedience. We

  232. need to be willing, we need to be available, and

  233. we need to do it now. And so I'm going

  234. to do it now. So anybody got for a miracle today?

  235. A few hands went up, a few people went yes,

  236. are we willing to be obedient? Yeah? And I want

  237. to encourry. I want to model this now. I'm going

  238. to model this now. But then why don't you ask God?

  239. You come? Somebody says to you, all, I'm really not

  240. feeling this. Let me give you an example. Happened November

  241. November last year. I was sitting next to somebody and

  242. they got about the chair and they went, oh, you

  243. know how sometimes you did that when you sat too long.

  244. I said, are you okay? I said, oh, yeah, no,

  245. I've got a problem in my hip. I said, so

  246. if you had it long, Oh yeah, I had it

  247. a long time. I'm waiting for the for for a

  248. doctor's appointment to get a scan. And okay, can I

  249. pray for you? Now? I thought they meant. I think

  250. they thought I was going to go away and pray.

  251. So I said, can I pray for you? Remember these words?

  252. So can I pray? I was willing. I sensed the

  253. father say off a prayer, so I offered prayer. Can

  254. I pray for you? Said? Oh yes, please? I said,

  255. can I pray for you now? Then there was a

  256. bit more of a pause. You know, we were sitting

  257. in a room with some other people around us. Can

  258. I pray for you now? They went, oh okay. Just

  259. laid a gentle hand on them, didn't make any big thing.

  260. I just said, Lord, do you do what you're able

  261. to do? Pray for my friend here. I pray that Lord,

  262. whatever's going on in their hit right now, you'd deal

  263. with it so they don't need to they don't need treatment.

  264. And I prayed a simple prayer and just left it

  265. with God. We got up and we walked around a bit,

  266. we sat down again, finished our conversation, and then they

  267. got up to go and they got up out of

  268. the chair and they went, oh, it doesn't ache quite

  269. as much as it used to. Oh that feels better now.

  270. I'm not saying they've completely healed, but God started the process.

  271. I haven't heard anything further from them. So we're going

  272. to do this. So who needs If you need a

  273. miracle today, would you stand. We're going to start by

  274. praying for ourselves. We're going to make this personal. I'm

  275. not going to ask you what it is. I'm really

  276. not going to ask you what is. I'm going to

  277. leave that with God. God's able to deal with all

  278. the things. But if you need a miracle today, if

  279. you need a miracle today, in a moment, we're going

  280. to pray for people who are known to us who

  281. need a miracle. That'll be a separate prayer. We're praying

  282. for people who are standing. Anybody else if you want

  283. to stand, please do. And for those who aren't standing.

  284. That's fine, would you reach out your hands towards those

  285. who are standing and we're going to pray. We're going

  286. to pray bold prayers. We're going to pray brave prayers.

  287. We're going to pray faithful prayers, and we're going to

  288. ask God to do amazingly and measurably more than we

  289. ask your imagine. So Church, let's start praying right now.

  290. Let's pray for these people. We don't know their need,

  291. but God does. Father, God, I pray right now, Lord God,

  292. that you would do so what only you can do. Father.

  293. You know where blood vessels need to be loosened up. Father,

  294. you know where things need to flow better. Father. You

  295. know where joints have seized and need to be released. Father.

  296. You know where chemistry is not in the right place. Father.

  297. You know where minds need readjusting, in neural networks need realigning.

  298. Lord God, Father, I pray right now you touch every

  299. life of those who are standing, for those who are

  300. standing at home, those who are listing remotely online. Father,

  301. would you touch those who need a miracle right now? Lord,

  302. Would you do what only you can do? Would doctor

  303. God do what doctor God can do? Would you heal

  304. them completely? Not diagnose them, not tell them what the

  305. problem is. Would you heal them? Low God, would you

  306. move by your holy spirit. We pray in Jesus Mighty name. Father,

  307. we pray for miracles for God. We pray, We pray

  308. for those who are looking for Father. I'd sense there

  309. are people are standing who are believing for a job,

  310. some who haven't got a job right now. But other

  311. people are lading believing for a different boss, a different job,

  312. different situation, Father God, I pray, Lord God, that you

  313. would do that. And Father two. I pray for reputational issues,

  314. where people's reputation is under attack. Father, I pray that

  315. you'd put a fresh badge on those whose name lift

  316. the name of Jesus over them, Lord God, Father, would

  317. their reputation be yours and not theirs? With the bad

  318. news turn round to good. We pray in Jesus Mighty name,

  319. in Jesus Mighty name, Poor, actious spirit of God. Move

  320. in Jesus' name. We pray. Amen shall keep on praying.

  321. If you're praying for someone, If you if you feel

  322. you've got a word for somebody, please feel free to

  323. step up and step alongside them. Give them an encouraging word.

  324. Because God is at work, God is moving. I particularly

  325. want to pray for those people who are listening later

  326. and those who are listening at home. This is not

  327. bound in time. God is not constrained by time. Now

  328. can be later in God's world. And so, Father, God,

  329. would you touch lives? Would you move? We pray, O

  330. God in Jesus Mighty name. And so I'm going to

  331. take it one step further and then i can hand

  332. the service back to the worship team. And Julia, if

  333. you would stand now, if you are believing for a

  334. miracle for somebody else, someone close to you, brother, sister, parent, child, husband, wife, aunt, uncle,

  335. someone close to you, next door, neighbors. I'm not talking

  336. about remote, distant people. I'm talking about people who you

  337. could see where God had moved. Think about the friends

  338. who carried their their disabled that their their their sick

  339. friend to be put in front of Jesus. They ripped

  340. open the roof, they were desperate to get in there.

  341. The kind of friends and family you are desperate to

  342. see God do something. And so would you stand again?

  343. If that now you're standing not for yourself, You're standing

  344. for somebody else. You are interceding. You are standing in

  345. the gap. And if you're standing, I'm not only going

  346. to pray right now, but I'm also going to believe

  347. you're going to continue to pray. You're going to be

  348. the intercessor. You're going to stand in the gap. And so,

  349. Father God, we're standing right now for friends, for family.

  350. Father God, you know every single situation you are able

  351. to do immeasurably more than we are asking right now. Father,

  352. we're just asking for friends. We're just asking for a breakthrough.

  353. We're just asking for a touch. Father, I pray that

  354. you complete the job. You finish the work, you tie

  355. up the knots, you'd draw the sentence to a close. Father.

  356. I pray that where people are under accusation, Lord you

  357. would be the judge, and Lord you would bring about

  358. a change in the situation. Father, God, Father, I pray

  359. that truth would out. Father, I pray that your word

  360. would speak out over these lives and situations. Father, I pray,

  361. where doctors are completely confounded, I said, so one or

  362. two people are standing for people who just don't know

  363. what's going on. People are really unwell, but no one

  364. knows what's going on. Father God, would you just do

  365. what you would do, Lord God. Would you change would

  366. you change chemical imbalances? Lord? Would you allow gas and

  367. oxygen to flow through the blood again? Would you improve circulation?

  368. I pray o God, Lord, would you clean out the

  369. filters in the kidneys, and the and the heart and

  370. the liver? Law God and Father, would you let health arise?

  371. As as as Rob prophesied over a bueller, we prophesy

  372. to these bones, to these lungs, to this breath, life, life,

  373. life in Jesus' name. Amen h
