We thank you for the word that episode in our
-
heart this morning, Lord, God Father, let our is be open,
-
our hearts be ready. Holy Spirit, You're welcome here. Say
-
what you need to say through her to us, Lord,
-
and help us to do something with it. We pray
-
in Jesus Mighty name.
-
Amen, Amen, thank you day. Good morning, Church. How are
-
you doing today? Good? All right?
-
So well, it is a privilege to me to be
-
here this morning. And actually today we are gathering around
-
a theme that is very close to God's heart and
-
actually is the theme that we are going to have
-
during the month of February, and this is about family matters.
-
This is our theme for the month.
-
But today in particular, we are going to review family
-
matters to God.
-
And then deeply, and we want to highlight the word
-
deeply as we will see together.
-
Okay, so just let me get started by saying that
-
family is not an accident of biology. It is an
-
intentional design of God. Before even God established governments or
-
kings and being raised up before any church building or temple,
-
God created the family. The family is the cradle of identity.
-
Faith, character, and legacy. Let's say it again.
-
Family is the cradle of identity, faith, character, and very
-
important legacy. But we also know that families have and
-
facing real challenges, challenges like it's like business, conflict between
-
members of the family, generational pressures, relational breakdowns, and spiritual battles.
-
Yet in all these God has not left us without guidance.
-
His words shows how to build strong families rooted in
-
His truth.
-
So today, what I would like to share with you are.
-
Three powerful truths about why family matters to God and
-
how we can strengthen our homes.
-
I mean, so point.
-
Number one that we are going to be talking about today,
-
it's about God designed the family. As I said, when
-
we book, when we go to the Book of Genesis,
-
in the chapter number two, between verse eighteen to twenty four,
-
the Bible refers to when the Lord look at Adam
-
in the garden, he said, it is not good for
-
the man to be alone. Aiden perhaps was kind of
-
happy and with all the animals naming them, et cetera.
-
Perhaps he was having a good time. But the Lord
-
looked at him and he said, it is not good
-
for the man.
-
To be alone. So he created the woman.
-
And at that specific time, the Lord designed the family.
-
And as you know, aid and if then had children,
-
so they were exactly the first family that we can
-
think of. So this was not just an idea or
-
something that after thought. It was particularly a design from
-
God to create the family. So in that case, the
-
family is something that we have companionship, and companionship was
-
God's idea.
-
It was not a human invention.
-
It was God's I mean desire to have company or
-
right to help, to support, to encourage, to do so
-
many things. That was God's idea.
-
And we then.
-
He also established something that we know in our days
-
as the marriage, and marriage is not a casual arrangement,
-
is a covenant, is something that the Lord really wants
-
to have to in that case have something that is
-
strong and is helping.
-
And it comes from the Lord.
-
And something else is that the family is the picture
-
if we can think of family or the ideal family
-
that the Lord had in mind, the family is a picture.
-
Of God's love and unity.
-
So if we think about that when we think of
-
a family, family is great. Family is a perfect design.
-
Family is something that the Lord had in mind and
-
started creating. And well we can think of that that
-
is amazing and it's not always working like that, and
-
that is something that we are going to be meditating
-
today around that.
-
Okay, So we can say.
-
That when we step outside of God's original design, we
-
step into unnecessary struggle. If we would follow exactly what
-
the Lord created, if we would follow exactly the things
-
that he had in mind, it would be amazing. Every
-
family would be perfect. The reality is that when we
-
step outside that model, then is when we start having
-
some issues. But if we meditate on that, well, the
-
original arrangement was, or the blueprint of that family would
-
be honor, love, commitment, and order. If we would follow that,
-
our families would flourish. Okay, And well it's not always
-
the case, but bear with me a moment, Okay, we
-
will continue talking about that. So that was the first principle.
-
The first truth that I wanted to share with you
-
today is that the family, it was designed by the
-
Lord and with one purpose. I mean to flourish the family,
-
to make happy people, to be helpful one to each other.
-
And truth number two is what is the language of.
-
A godly family? And that is love.
-
And I would say the second point is about love
-
as the language for our families. We can find in
-
First Corinthians, chapter thirteen, verse four to seven. There is
-
a very important description about what is love, and the
-
apostle Paul describes love as patient, kind, not easy, angered,
-
keeping no.
-
Record of wrongs.
-
It is really lovely. This is what love is all about.
-
And that description really I mean images the love of God.
-
That is exactly what we find in first gorithias.
-
You can read it.
-
Several of us know it, I mean, sometimes even by heart,
-
around what the love of God is all about. And
-
for us we need to remember that that language. If
-
we speak that language in the midst of our families.
-
Well that would be very powerful.
-
But what does that mean to speak that law language
-
in the midst of our family? Speaking gently even when
-
you are frustrated. Sometimes we allow anger to come immediately,
-
and we speak harsh to people, to our members of
-
our family that are the closest to us. So speaking
-
gently is one way that we can speak that language
-
of love. Also, choosing forgiveness. Choosing forgiveness is one of
-
the most difficult things that we can actually face, particularly
-
when we feel hurt, when we believe that we have
-
the right and that the other person is stepping on
-
us in different matters, in different ways. Choosing forgiveness is hard,
-
but that is one powerful way to speak the language
-
of love in the midst of our family. One more
-
way is showing patience even when we feel pressured, even
-
when we want to have things done, write and quickly
-
and fast, and we don't have patience to wait for
-
the other one to react or to do things, or
-
perhaps even accomplish the things that we want them to
-
do for us. So patience is also something that we
-
need to keep in mind when we are speaking the
-
language of God in our families, protecting each other.
-
Okay, so we are in a family with one purpose.
-
It was not an accident.
-
As I said that we are in the midst of
-
that family.
-
We could have borne somewhere else.
-
In a different country, in a different town, in a
-
different house, in a different something. The reality is that
-
we are where we are because that was the purpose.
-
That was the intention of our Lord. He had a
-
plan for each one of us. He had a purpose
-
for each one of us. So the place where the
-
Lord has put us there, it's unique.
-
It was his design, it was his intentions.
-
So don't think about like, oh gosh, I mean, what
-
am I doing in this family?
-
What am I doing in this place?
-
Think about it twice and consider that you are there.
-
With a purpose.
-
So if we continue talking about the language of law,
-
we can say that we are there also to protect
-
each other, not exposing the weaknesses.
-
Of what others in our family are doing.
-
So we are there to protect each other, also importantly
-
believing the best, not assuming the worst. Sometimes we just forgive,
-
for granted that the person is going to do something wrong,
-
or we are speaking perhaps our children for those parents
-
with children, considering that well, there is something going wrong,
-
or we are always trying to assume the worst instead
-
of believing for the best or taking the best out
-
of us.
-
Sometimes well not sometimes.
-
But the Bible says that the mouth I mean, the
-
worst that we speak I mean are really powerful.
-
With our words, we can encourage.
-
Someone, we can live someone, We can actually make someone
-
to florish. But at the same time, with our same words,
-
we can bring someone.
-
To feel useless, to be with no purpose at all.
-
We can destroy lives entirely, even at work if we don't,
-
if we are not careful, we might be destroying someone's.
-
Career if we don't speak properly. So here is where
-
we need.
-
To consider our lives as Christians. And all the language
-
of love in the midst of our family.
-
So that is very important.
-
Now it is easy to say it is difficult to
-
speak that language when all what is going on in
-
the world, with all the pressures, with all the situations
-
that we face on a day to day basis.
-
It's difficult. But remember God is with us.
-
His word is with us, and if we follow his words,
-
if we put in action his words.
-
For sure it will be easier for us. I mean.
-
So, first point, we said, family is designed by God.
-
Second point we said, it's the language that a godly
-
family speaks is love. Third point and our third point
-
is faith is the legacy of a strong family. Okay,
-
let me repeat it again. Faith is the legacy of
-
a strong family.
-
And the verse that I.
-
Have selected with God's grace for today is in Joshua
-
chapter twenty four fifteen. That it was also at the
-
beginning of today's conversation.
-
And we are seeing Joshua.
-
Here standing before people that they wanted to praise and
-
serve other gods. But what happens is that Joshua stood
-
firm and he said, as for me and my house,
-
we will serve the Lord. It was something very powerful
-
because he had the knowledge of the world of God.
-
He had seen the power of God guiding the people of.
-
Israel through all the desert.
-
He had seen miracles, he had seen all sorts of things.
-
So when other people that they were going around they
-
wanted to worship other gods, he said, as for me,
-
you can do whatever you want. You can praise whoever
-
you want. You can select the God you want. You
-
can serve the God that you want. As for me
-
and my house.
-
We will serve the Lord.
-
And what he was declaring it was not just for him.
-
It was for his children, the children of his children,
-
and even generations to come that he didn't even had
-
mentioned at that point in time.
-
So it is very important.
-
So legacy for us as families of God is faith.
-
How can we share our faith with those in our
-
family to make sure that faith remain, faith remains through
-
all the generations and in some cases not even I
-
mean the generations that we will see. So my question
-
here is what kind of legacy do we want our
-
family live?
-
What is the legacy that And for those.
-
Of you young people that perhaps you are not married yet,
-
but one day, with God's will, you will and you
-
will be part of a family. You will be a
-
mother a father of your own children. And you need
-
to consider, what is the sort of legacy that I
-
want to give or to live as part of my family.
-
What is the language that I want my family to speak.
-
What is the decision that I need to make?
-
And how can we do that?
-
How can we in order to build a strong legacy,
-
a legacy of faith?
-
What can we do?
-
It doesn't come on its own, It doesn't come just
-
by just thinking about it.
-
Okay, there is a lot of things that we need
-
to consider.
-
One of them for us is intentional teaching, and what
-
we are talking about teaching teaching the world of God.
-
The Bible recommends teaching the morning, in the afternoon, in
-
the evening, speak the word of God.
-
To do children, behave accordingly, give.
-
Consistent example about how the Lord is asking you to behave.
-
Worship the Lord, so in the midst of your family,
-
in the midst of all what you are living, Worship
-
is an integral part of your day.
-
Today in the morning, worship Him. In the afternoon, as
-
you are on the road, worship Him.
-
At night when you gather with your family, worship again
-
the Lord. And before you go tonight to sleep. Just
-
think about that and worship. Praise the Lord. Praise the
-
Lord for all what he does for us.
-
It is important for us to build Christ's center values.
-
So all of our decisions need to be made according
-
to the world of God. Sometimes the life presents us situations.
-
In every situation, we need to think, what would Jesus do?
-
Is this something that is Christ's center? Is the decision
-
that I need to take the right one? Is my
-
interpretation of what I am facing is the correct one?
-
And that is important.
-
But if we do not know the word of God,
-
is difficult to take the right decisions, and it's difficult
-
to face the situations in a godly manner. And very importantly,
-
prayer in the home. Your household needs to share prayer together.
-
It is good that you pray. It is good that
-
I pray on my own. That's building relationship with our Lord.
-
But it's important to pray together whoever you have at home.
-
When you have a meal, Before you have your meals,
-
give thanks. When the children go out to school, bless them.
-
Speak a word to them so their day goes well.
-
When you are at work, and sometimes I mean it's
-
difficult at work, to share your faith, but even thinking
-
of words that are based on the world of God,
-
that you can have a blessed day or have something
-
that we can say to them that changes the atmosphere
-
in which we are working, even at school.
-
I mean.
-
So prayer is important, and not just the prayer that
-
you raise to the Lord.
-
But prayer as a family. How many times, and this
-
is something that we need to consider.
-
For those married and have a husband or wife, how
-
many times perhaps a day or a week or a month,
-
pray together just on simple things, but pray together, I
-
mean just for the feeling. How the Lord can manifest
-
amongst our household.
-
That is important.
-
That builds stronger relationships, that brings the Holy Spirit in
-
the mists of what we are living in the midst
-
of our relationships. And if we are not patient, the
-
Lord will give us patience.
-
If the Lord.
-
If we are not for example, loving enough, the Lord
-
can transform that. If we are having problems, the Lord
-
can help us. So it is important that we bring
-
all these things in the midst of our family, that
-
we build that legacy, not just led it to happen
-
or thinking that on its own it is going to build.
-
We most build together that legacy. I mean so well.
-
I have mentioned about the three truths that I wanted
-
to speak today. I hope that you have remembered the
-
title of each one of them. But now you can say, well,
-
thank you so much for sharing all these three truths.
-
But the reality is different.
-
And you might be thinking, well, that is an ideal family,
-
but my family is not perfect. And I have some
-
news for you. There is no perfect family, no perfect family.
-
There are families that are more blessed if they are
-
walking in the Lord, et cetera. But there is always
-
someone in our family, a member either in our close
-
family or in the extended family, that is difficult, that
-
is challenging. And I can tell you no perfect families.
-
And we can go to the first family that the
-
Lord created. What happened in that family, Well, there was
-
a murder, okay because King killed able. Okay, even in
-
the first family there was something.
-
That was not exactly what the Lord had instructed.
-
And then what happens with Jacob's family. Jacob's family that
-
his name was later changed to Israel, had twelve sons.
-
What happened The brothers were jealous about one brother, yeah,
-
and they tried to kill him, and at the end
-
of the day decided, okay, well, let's sell it to
-
some people that come around. Every single family has their
-
own challenges. David's family the same. So even in our
-
country here we might think, oh, the royal family must
-
be a perfect family.
-
They have everything to be happy and what happened.
-
They have their own challenges, they have their own issues.
-
So bottom line, there is no perfect family.
-
If we do if we do not walk.
-
According to the world of God. So I have those
-
news for you, okay. And perhaps at this point in time,
-
some of our families.
-
Might be broken.
-
We may have some relationships that had been broken for years.
-
That's my own family situation. In different ways, with different
-
members of my family, there might be situations really difficult,
-
and each one of us perhaps are facing that. And
-
I was thinking the Lord when Maureen came here and
-
she felt that the Holy Speed let her know that
-
there might be some people here that needed to be
-
healed from brokenness.
-
And I need to tell you some of the herds
-
that are more difficult to.
-
Kind of overcome are the issues that we face in
-
our families. I mean, because they are the closest people
-
to us. Those members are the ones that we believe
-
that we can trust the most or that we can
-
rely on, and it's not always the case. And regardless
-
of what is this status of your family today, if
-
it is a blessed one and everything is going well,
-
thank God, I mean, continue doing what you are doing
-
and keep oppraising the Lord for the.
-
Family that you have.
-
But if there are other situations in your family that
-
for whatever reason, for the situation that we had to
-
face in our countries, in our own families with extended family,
-
and some hurt came and some brokenness had been here, well,
-
the good news is that the Lord can restore those
-
things that are broken. They can rebuild things, or they
-
can make new things.
-
In your life.
-
And that is the truth that we need to live
-
day after day, because if we trust the Lord, he
-
will do his will in our lives, sometimes perhaps not
-
the way that we could have expected, but certainly the
-
Lord can do new things. The Lord can restore situations.
-
The Lord can bring forgiveness in the midst of situations
-
that we are facing. The Lord can do all sorts
-
of miracles only if we trust him, only if we
-
surrender our own will to his will. Only if we
-
bring that particular situation, and we can say, Lord, you
-
know what my family is going through. You know perhaps
-
how many years it has been broken, or you know the.
-
Situations that cast the current situation. But you know what.
-
Everything is in your hands. You restore, you bring new things.
-
You can make a new place here, a new family,
-
and just trust the Lord in his infinite wisdom. He
-
has a purpose and plan for you. So for me
-
today is our encouragement for each one of us, remembering
-
that the family matters to God and matters deeply because
-
it was his original design. Because He has a purpose
-
for each family the way, one way or the other.
-
The Lord has something to do for you. Amen.
-
So this morning, as we are coming to a conclusion,
-
and I would like to retake what Maureen mentioned earlier.
-
If today you need a miracle in your life, If
-
today you need the Lord to take action in your family,
-
If today you need to get wisdom in terms of
-
how to guide your own children towards I mean giving
-
or building a legacy of faith, you can come and
-
ask the Lord to do that.
-
Let's pray.
-
Close your eyes, Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift
-
of family. Strengthen every home represented here today, heal the wounded,
-
restore the broken, unite the divided.
-
And bless the faithful. Help us build.
-
Families that honor your word, walk in your love, and
-
leave a legacy of faith for generations to come. Lord,
-
right now, I recognize that I need your help. My
-
family has been broken for far too long. But when
-
I surrendered everything Lord to you, you, I just know that
-
you have the best for me and my family, and
-
you are restoring and building new things.
-
So I just want to say thank you. And for
-
any family here.
-
Represented that they need a touch of you, that you
-
need to touch and create a miracle or restoration or
-
forgiveness or building something new.
-
I just pray that your.
-
Holy Spirit comes today and touch every life in need
-
to get your miracle, your heavenly touch from the Holy Spirit.
-
Thank you, Lord, Thank you, because I know that family
-
matters to you, and matters deeply because you are loving Dad,
-
You are a loving God, and you want everything the
-
very best for us. So my right now, I pray
-
for every family in this place, Lord, and anyone needs
-
prayer today.
-
If anyone's just to come.
-
And say, Lord, here is my life, here is my family.
-
Just right now, put your hand on your heart. I
-
want to ask you to stand up, just put your
-
hand on your heart and say, Lord, I recognize that
-
I need you more than I thought.
-
I need your word to guide me when.
-
I need to take decisions, when I need to forgive people,
-
when I need to speak the language of love, rather
-
than becoming frustrated or becoming impatient.
-
I need you Lord this morning.
-
I need your Lord right now to overcome all the
-
brokenness in my life, all the brokenness in my family. Lord,
-
I trust you, whatever the shape is, ructure that you
-
want to give to our families, if something has been
-
broken not restored the same way, I just pray Lord
-
that you can do something new, and you can restore,
-
and you can give us faith, and you can give
-
us joy, and you can give.
-
Us everything you need. Lord.
-
The legacy of faith that we can give will go
-
to all of our descendants for generations that we perhaps
-
won't see. But whatever we build we last forever. And then,
-
so Lord, help us to be those agents. Help us
-
to be the family that we can build legacy of faith.
-
And even if they are not aware own children, perhaps
-
there are nephews, or there are spiritual children. Help us
-
to be the parents the godly parents spiritual parents to them,
-
so they can also build that. Perhaps they have been
-
brought to you because their own families might not be
-
able to do that. So consider that if at this
-
point in time you have people that come to you
-
in need of love, guidance, comfort, and wisdom to move forward.
-
Lord, we thank you so much. We thank you for
-
your Holy Spirit.
-
Thank you for letting Marey know that there might be
-
perhaps more than one.
-
That needs your touch today.
-
Help them to just surrender everything to you. Any situation
-
that we need your touch, any miracle that we need
-
to see. Help us Lord today in the name of Jesus,
-
we pray I mean, I mean.
-
Thank you Hell.
-
The building blocks of
