  1. Good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning.

  2. It is good to be in the house of the

  3. Lord this morning. Amen. Hey man, come on, let's praise

  4. the Lord one more time in this place. Hallelujah, Praise

  5. the Lord. Well listen, I am Pastor Mike, and I'm

  6. so glad to be here with you this morning and

  7. just be able to spend a little time together as

  8. we dive into the Word this morning. So let us pray. Father,

  9. we do thank you God. We glorify your name. Lord.

  10. There is no one like you, And so we come

  11. into this place knowing that you are already here. Lord God.

  12. We ask that even now, that everything that we've already

  13. experienced in worship of God, and even and through exhortation

  14. of God, that You or God will take us to

  15. the next level. Lord, take us deeper within your word today,

  16. Lord God, that our ears might be in tune, that

  17. our eyes might see, that our mouths might look God

  18. communicate and declare the truth in it, O Lord, and

  19. that our hearts will be fixed towards you, Holy Spirit.

  20. Come now, do what only you can do in this space.

  21. Draw us closer together, individually and collectively. In Jesus' name.

  22. I do pray a man a man. Well, listen, it

  23. is good to be here again this morning as we

  24. take another step into the Connected Life series, focusing today

  25. on guarding your heart and your family. Today, we want

  26. to look at Nehemiah chapter four, verses thirteen and fourteen,

  27. And after I read this in your hearing, I'm going

  28. to go a little deeper to understand where this passage

  29. is coming out of. But the Bible says this. It says, therefore,

  30. I station some of the people behind the lowest points

  31. of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by

  32. families with their swords, shields, and spears. After I looked

  33. things over, I stood up and said to the nobles,

  34. the officials the rest of the people, don't be afraid

  35. of them. Remember the Lord who is great and awesome,

  36. and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters,

  37. your wives, and your homes. Nhemiah four thirteen through fourteen.

  38. In this passage of scripture, there are something I want

  39. to highlight here. In that highlight word I want to

  40. look at is the word fight, and so fight when

  41. we look at it in this original text, the word

  42. is shamar. Shamar. Shamar means that we are to guard,

  43. to keep, to watch over, to observe. So when we

  44. see the word fight, some of us think it's hand

  45. to hand combat, but I want to let you know

  46. that it's not an actual physical fight. We are actually guarding,

  47. we're keeping watch over, and we are observing. The biggest

  48. fight is a fight when you are already prepared for

  49. the fight. Today. A family does not become spiritually strong

  50. by accident. We must recognize where we are vulnerable, make

  51. contentional changes, and remember what is worth fighting for. Mia

  52. Maya was not just building rebuilding a wall. He was

  53. rebuilding a people. The enemy was not just attacking brick

  54. and martar. The enemy was attacking security, unity, peace, and

  55. the future of families. And that is still how the

  56. enemy works today. After the exile of God's people, they

  57. returned to Jerusalem and they rebuilt the temple, but the

  58. outer walls were in ruins. This was indicating that the

  59. city could be taken in an attack, that if someone

  60. wanted to come into the city, all they had to

  61. do was step in, because the walls were not really

  62. existing or in existence at that time. Some of us

  63. remember that Nehemiah was in Persia, but when he heard

  64. about the walls of Jerusalem, Jerusalem being in ruins. He

  65. returned to rally up the people to rebuild the wall.

  66. But as every good mission, there is always opposition, and

  67. so there were local entities that were battling against God's people,

  68. these enemies who would make comments and they would intimidate

  69. them and say that we're gonna come in and anyway,

  70. we're gonna disrupt your work, the things that you're trying

  71. to do. And so this played a role in initially

  72. distracting the people. I want to let you know that

  73. most times, the biggest thing that we're gonna deal with

  74. in our lives is distraction. The enemy is always gonna

  75. want to distract you from the purpose, from the design

  76. of what God wants to do in your life and

  77. also in your family's life. The enemy still uses the

  78. same strategy of distraction. He uses distraction, and then he

  79. follows up with temptation. He comes along, he gives us.

  80. We become exhausted. Then we're doing things that we start

  81. comparing ourselves to other people and other things, and finally

  82. we have this thing of constant digital noise. Everyone in

  83. this room today has a device or something that has

  84. your digital attention. And so the enemy uses all that

  85. he can to keep us away from focusing on the

  86. things of God. But Nia Mayah responded by organizing a defense.

  87. He put guards and posted them both day and night

  88. around the walls and the gates of Jerusalem to make

  89. sure that the families could be stationed behind the lowest

  90. points of the wall. Nea Mayah devised a strategy to

  91. get the job done. In order to get the job done,

  92. you are gonna have to have a strategy in order

  93. to keep our families together, to keep our families safe,

  94. we have to have a strategy. Most of us we

  95. have in our homes a fire plan. If a fire

  96. breaks out, we know what to do. And if you

  97. don't have that, I would encourage you to devise that.

  98. But in any situation where we can be taken away,

  99. we need to have a strategy. We need to have

  100. a plan, and so Ne and Mayah had one this morning.

  101. I want to say this before we go any deeper.

  102. Devices are not evil. Devices are not evil. It's hard

  103. to preach, and you got four in front of you, right,

  104. They're not evil, But it's what they do when you

  105. use the device, when you allow it to have access.

  106. If you are not keeping watch over it, it then

  107. becomes dangerous. Today's message is not only for children in youth.

  108. Matter of fact, it's not for children and youth, but

  109. it's for adults. It's for parents, it's for grandparents, it's

  110. for singles, it's for married couples. It's from any household.

  111. If you are a human being on this planet, you

  112. probably have some form of device. This message is for you.

  113. Because the truth is this is not a kid problem.

  114. Adults are being shaped by screens too. Families are being

  115. discipled by whatever has their attention the most. The concern

  116. is real. How do we know it's real Because when

  117. the world starts recognizing the problem, I want to let

  118. you know the Church already identified it, but then the

  119. world starts to recognize it. The CDC reported that about

  120. half of the US teenagers ages twe through seventeen had

  121. four or more hours of daily screen time outside of schoolwork,

  122. and one and four of those who had four or

  123. more hours of screen time outside of school reported symptoms

  124. of anxiety and depression in the week's following being exposed.

  125. The Surgeon General said social media use among teens is

  126. nearly universal, with up to ninety five percent of teams

  127. using social media platforms, and that youth who spends three

  128. hours or more on social media face double the risk

  129. factors of mental health problems, which are anxiety and depression symptoms.

  130. The Pew research found that forty one percent of US

  131. adults and nearly half of teens say they are online

  132. concert It's not just teens. So the research confirms what

  133. we already know. This is a major problem. I know

  134. we could say, well, I have an excuse, because then

  135. I'm an adult, and so I'm an adult and I'm working. Well,

  136. a student can say the same thing, Well, I'm a

  137. student and I'm in school. There is a problem, and

  138. we have to identify that we do have a problem. Today,

  139. I would like to offer you three rs to help

  140. us all guard our hearts and our families. The first

  141. R is this recognize the exposed places. Nea Maya said.

  142. He stationed the people at the lowest points of the wall,

  143. at the exposed places. The first step in spiritual protection

  144. is honesty. We've got to be honest with ourselves. He

  145. stationed them at the lowest points because the lowest points

  146. are the places that someone can just step in. They

  147. don't have to work to get in, they don't have

  148. to climb the wall. And so we've got to identify

  149. what are the lowest places in our families. Each family

  150. has exposed places. Every adult has exposed places. Some are

  151. obvious and some are very subtle. Sometimes exposed places are

  152. not blatant sin. Sometimes it's a constant distraction that stops

  153. you from doing the things that you need to do.

  154. Sometimes it's emotional exhaustion. You keep watching, you keep washing,

  155. and you feel overwhelmed. You saw the elpisode and you're like,

  156. oh my god, that's so horrible, what just happened? Let

  157. me watch the next episode. Sometimes it's a slow shaping

  158. of our values by entertainment, scrolling and scrolling and scrolling,

  159. and then we start to impair and then we see

  160. something political, we become outraged, and before you know it,

  161. then we have the less thing happening. And I want

  162. to let you know that most times we say less

  163. and people think it's about a person, but it's not

  164. about a person. Sometimes it's about the stuff. You see

  165. somebody with the house, you see somebody with the car,

  166. somebody with the vacation, somebody with something that you now

  167. want because you didn't even know it existed until you

  168. saw it. Gotta have it, Gotta have it. TikTok shot,

  169. TikTok shock. They got me too. Sometimes the enemy does

  170. not break in through dramatic crisis. Sometimes he slips through

  171. the open door we stop paying attention to. That is

  172. why this point matters. You cannot guard what you refuse

  173. to identify. I'm gonna say that again. You cannot guard

  174. what you refuse to identify. For some homes, the exposed

  175. place is what comes through the TV screen. It's not

  176. the device, it's the TV screen because we've been watching

  177. that show. Some of us have been watching General Hospital

  178. since Luke and Laura. They're not even there anymore. I

  179. hope not. I hope they ain't come back. They gotta

  180. be like ninety two years old by now. But we're

  181. hooked and we keep watching because we're connected. And some

  182. of us it's not a TV show. It's the sticks.

  183. Gotta hop online with my friends after work. I gotta

  184. do my thing and I just need I just need.

  185. An hour turns into four or five, six hours until

  186. we are exhausted with the game. For some of us,

  187. it's what comes through our phones. For others, it's the

  188. absence of conversation. You're in the same room, but nobody's talking.

  189. It's the absence of words because I am distracted by

  190. what's in front of me. For some adults, the exposed

  191. place is not their children's screen time, it's their own.

  192. We can be so busy monitoring our kids' screen time

  193. that we never even monitor ourselves. We've gotta take a

  194. look at ourselves as well. John ten and Ten says,

  195. the thief comes only to steal, and kill and destroy.

  196. I have come that they may have life and have

  197. it to full. I want to let you know the

  198. strategy of the enemy has not changed. He is still

  199. trying to steal our attention. He's trying to kill our peace,

  200. and he's trying to destroy our relationships. And he's using

  201. it in the form of these rectangle boxes, anything to

  202. keep us from being in relationship with each other and

  203. with God. Simple truth. What repeatedly enters our eyes, our ears,

  204. eventually enters our heart and begins to shape our life

  205. and our home. This week, I want to offer some applications,

  206. and the application for this week. One of them is

  207. we need to do a prayerful inspection of our walls.

  208. We need to walk around the walls of our family.

  209. And I'm not talking about physical walls, but I'm talking

  210. about spiritual walls. And I want us to look at

  211. our family and see where are the places that are

  212. most vulnerable. It's the first question we should ask ourselves. Secondly,

  213. what content, habits, or patterns are weakening us? Am I

  214. watching this show so much that I am literally feeling

  215. myself being pulled away from God, being pulled away from

  216. my family, being pulled away from the ones that I love?

  217. Am I so caught up on this social media thing

  218. that I've got to like everything? Thirdly, what is shaping

  219. our emotions more than the presence of God? What's making

  220. us feel? Do I feel more about this than Him?

  221. Where have the devices become a doorway instead of a tool? Listen, Lord,

  222. have mercy if we didn't have these devices, man, Like,

  223. this thing does everything for me. Like I can't even

  224. drive my car without this thing. Literally, I can't drive

  225. my car without it. Right, it opens my garage. I

  226. get around this whole church with this phone. There's doors.

  227. I get it, I go be and it goes right through. Right,

  228. So it's a tool. But when I take this tool

  229. and I give it authority and power over my life,

  230. it can become dangerous. The key to this inspection, do

  231. not start with shame, start with honesty. I want to

  232. let you know. Listen, no one's got a reason to

  233. be a shame. No shame here. Let's be honest. And

  234. I didn't come here to say, hey, point the finger

  235. because I got my own stuff. I'm dealing with amen.

  236. So we've got to be honest about where you are,

  237. where we are in this conversation as it relates to

  238. our devices. Start with honesty. Number two, reposition your people.

  239. Me and Mayah did not just identify the exposed places.

  240. He posted people by families with sword, chill and spear.

  241. In other words, he did not leave the family unprepared.

  242. He positioned them for battle. I want to say this,

  243. you need to be ready for battle. We don't even

  244. talk like that anymore. We talk like this. Jesus did

  245. it all. Jesus died on the cross. Yes, this is true.

  246. He got up with all victory and power in his hand.

  247. Because he's got victory. I got victory. All of that's true.

  248. But I want to let you know you need to

  249. be ready to fight. As well. Growing up as a kid,

  250. my grandmother she was ready for battle. How did I

  251. know it? She would sing songs. I'm a souljah, indeed.

  252. On the other Lord, I'm a soulja indeed. Now I

  253. would be like Grandma, but where's your equipment? She's a

  254. singing she's a soldier. Okay, all right, all right, soldier.

  255. But I found her weapons because her weapons were not cardinal,

  256. they were mighty through God to pull down strongholders. Because

  257. that woman knew how to pray. She would get on

  258. her knees and she would pray, and we would see

  259. things happening because of Grandma's prayers. I want to let

  260. you know we have to be prepared to fight, so

  261. we need to have the equipment for battle. This is

  262. important to us. Now. We cannot complain about culture. Culture

  263. is not gonna change. It's probably gonna get a lot worse.

  264. And we can't afford to move backwards. We gotta keep

  265. moving forward. We gotta press the battle on. And that

  266. means that we have to know who we are fighting for,

  267. who is standing with and we are standing with the Lord,

  268. and that means that we have to reorder our homes.

  269. This is a call to every family. It's time to

  270. put things in order. And I know you're thinking, like,

  271. how can I do it. We've been doing this so long.

  272. I don't know if we can revert. I want to

  273. let you know. You can revert back. You could start again.

  274. You could start having the dialogue, you could start having

  275. the conversations. You can rebuild the walls. Now. I know

  276. this is not an amen type of sermon. Most of

  277. you will wish I would preach about coffee today. Just

  278. preach about coffee pastor might please. It'd be good because

  279. coffee is always good, right, But today this is a

  280. word that we need. Deuteronomy six says God's words are

  281. to be on our hearts and impress them upon our children.

  282. Proverbs for twenty three says, above all else, guard your heart,

  283. for everything you do flows from it. That means protection

  284. must be intentional. You're not gonna just be protected. You

  285. have to be intentional about your protection. Intentional. Some of

  286. you have families because you were not intentional about your protection.

  287. I hope that was high enough that it went over

  288. to the ones that they met. Praise the Lord. Amen.

  289. I couldn't figure it out in the first service, but

  290. I got it write this time. Theymen, hallelujah. Amen, you

  291. gotta be intentional. So notice this. Nea Maya's people had

  292. three weapons. We need those weapons too. You need a sword.

  293. The sword is the conversations. We need to have conversations.

  294. Adults must talk. You need to be talking to each other's.

  295. Parents must talk to one another. Parents must talk to

  296. their children and grandparents. You need to bring some wisdom

  297. to the table. You've been here long enough, you've seen enough.

  298. And the worst thing we ever did the grandparents was

  299. bring them up phone. You remember, because you had to

  300. sit there and explain how to turn the thing on,

  301. how to get to this screen. And they said, all

  302. I want to do is make calls. Now grandma's not

  303. baking cookies anymore. She's playing Cray Candy Crush. So we've changed,

  304. but we need to go back to some things. It's

  305. okay to go back to some things. We've gotta be talking. Listen, parents,

  306. I know some of us we are we're raising kids

  307. in two different homes. But I'm telling you, mom and dad,

  308. you need to get on the same page. So the

  309. same rules you have that your house is the same

  310. rules that's in the other house. That we are on

  311. the same page because it's worth fighting for. We cannot

  312. let the algorithms have the loudest voice in our homes. Thirdly,

  313. they had sorry. Secondly, they had shields. Shields represent the boundaries.

  314. Every home has to have boundaries. Boundaries are not punishment.

  315. Boundaries are protection. Healthy homes don't just have love, they

  316. also have limits. There's got to be a place where

  317. you say, no, we don't do this here. We don't

  318. do this here. This is not something we do in

  319. our home. We care so much about you, but we

  320. won't allow this. Listen in our home. When our kids

  321. were growing up, we did not allow them. When they

  322. were with their friends, they wanted to face time and

  323. do things of that nature. Were like, you don't face

  324. time in bedrooms, you don't FaceTime in bathrooms, you don't

  325. let's not face time in a home at all, because

  326. that just might be one to walk around sometimes and

  327. I gotta be thinking about what I'm wearing now, you know.

  328. It's it's just like kind of like that that mentality

  329. of like, listen, let's protect the home. Everybody doesn't need

  330. access and entry into your home. You've got to protect

  331. your home. Well, these boundaries are so important to the home.

  332. The shield is important to the home, and then thirdly

  333. is the spear. The spirit represents values. Every family has

  334. to have values. You have to know what your house

  335. stands for. If you don't define your values, culture will

  336. define them for you. Joshua was very clear about that

  337. in Joshua twenty four. He said, but if serving the

  338. Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourself this

  339. day whom you will serve. But as for me and

  340. my house, we will serve the Lord. For my house,

  341. I don't care what Susie's doing down the street. I

  342. don't know who Susie is, But whoever she is, I

  343. don't care. But in this house we love. In this house,

  344. we forgive. In this house, we pray. In this house,

  345. we connect. In this house, we come together because we

  346. are family. As for me and my house, we will

  347. serve the Lord. This is where the message must be

  348. real balanced, because adults, we can't call our children and

  349. youth away from digital access or excess while staying changed

  350. to our own devices. This is not a do as

  351. I say, not as I do message. This is us

  352. coming together. Parents must model the life they want to reproduce,

  353. you gotta model it. The Surgeon General's guidance for families

  354. includes creating family media plans, establishing tech free zones, and

  355. modeling responsible behavior. Modeling responsible behavior. Body's watching you. That

  356. little baby is watching you. I know you think they're

  357. only one and two, and they are not paying attention,

  358. and they got toys to play with, and you got

  359. them distracted with something else. But they're watching. What distracts you.

  360. They need your presence, They need your eyes open to

  361. see what is going on in their lives. A simple truth.

  362. We do not drift into spiritual health. We decide our

  363. way there. I want to let you know the same

  364. way we don't drift into physical health. Some of y'all

  365. been to the gym, and some of us went past

  366. the gym, but we know what a gym is, right,

  367. And so you don't just become physically healthy. And the

  368. same way you just don't become physically healthy, you just

  369. don't just become virtually healthy. You've gotta do some work.

  370. You gotta show up, you gotta get in your word,

  371. you've gotta pray, you've gotta do the work. And that's

  372. how you become spiritually healthy. You gotta decide your way there.

  373. Application pick one structural change this week. No phones at

  374. the dinner table may could be one of them. Maybe

  375. it's no devices in the bedroom at night. That could

  376. be one of them. One shared hour of screen free connection.

  377. I don't want to connect with anything else. I don't

  378. want to connect with anyone else. I want to connect

  379. with you, my family. I want to be connected in

  380. this space for one smooth hour. Maybe it's a family

  381. devotion time during the week. Maybe it's a one hour

  382. or or some time spent an honest conversation about what

  383. everyone in the house is consuming. What are you watching?

  384. What do you take an adult? It's not about us

  385. enforcing it, it's about us modeling it. If you lead,

  386. they will follow. Three. The third one today is to

  387. remember what you are fighting for. I love this word remember,

  388. And the reason I love him remember is because of

  389. this movie I watch, and I probably watch it way

  390. too much because of my kids. Well, let me to

  391. say I like the movie. Okay, it's a lion king.

  392. The most famous line in that whole movie is when

  393. Simba forgets who he is and he gets out there

  394. in the wilderness and he gets knocked over the head,

  395. and then he sees his father. I'm not sure because

  396. he'sknocked over his head, but he sees his father and

  397. he looks into reflection. Maybe that was a screen of

  398. some sort, and move Fossa shows up and he says, remember,

  399. it's the coolest thing. I love that. We need to

  400. remember what we're fighting for. We're fighting for our homes,

  401. We're fighting for our peace, We're fighting for our families.

  402. We're fighting for our continued victory in Jesus. We must fight.

  403. And if we are going to shemar, if we are

  404. going to fight, we need to put on the full

  405. honor of God. The Bible says in Ephesian six' ten it, says,

  406. finally be strong in The lord and in his mighty.

  407. Power put on the full armor Of god so that

  408. you can take your stand against the devil's. Schemes the

  409. devil's got. Schemes it's a. Scheme it's a. Crapshoot it's a.

  410. Thing he's trying to mix up the. Cards he's doing

  411. that type of. Thing it's a scheme for our. Struggle

  412. it's not against flesh and. Blood you are not fighting

  413. with your thirteen year old. Daughter you're fighting with the

  414. scheme that the double has set. Up Darry you're not

  415. fighting with your mama because she won't pay you attention

  416. when your whole world is. Exploding you are fighting with

  417. the schemes of the. Enemy but we wrestle against the,

  418. rulers against the, authorities against the powers of this dark.

  419. World there are powers and operation in this dark. WORLD

  420. i want to let you know that the algorithm is

  421. listening to you right. Now if you just started saying polka,

  422. dot poka, dot pok, Dot i'm telling you you'll get

  423. everything poka, dot poka, dot, umbrellas polka dot, hats polka dot,

  424. shirts polka dot, socks because the algorithm is listening to

  425. your words and you you are fighting against. That Nea

  426. mayah told the people remember The lord who is great and,

  427. awesome and fight for your, families for your, sons for your,

  428. daughters your, wives and your. Homes this is the heart

  429. of this. Message we are not fighting for control. Parents

  430. you are not fighting for control over your. Kids we

  431. are fighting for. Hearts we're fighting for. Peace we're fighting for.

  432. Clarity we're fighting for. Presents we want, presents presence, together

  433. to be in the same, room to be at the

  434. same dinner, table to be in the same, space and

  435. you are actually, there fully, told tuned in to the

  436. moment that we don't miss. It and most, importantly we

  437. are fighting for the spiritual future of our. Homes ephesian

  438. six reminds us about this. Wrestle so the problem is

  439. not merely. Technology the issue is spiritual. Formation who is shaping,

  440. us what is discipling, us what is capturing our affections

  441. and our? Attention what is our minds being conformed? To

  442. what's changing our minds our? Thoughts we didn't always think this?

  443. Way how do we get? Here, WELL i want to

  444. let you know The bible, says do not conform any

  445. longer to the pattern of this. World the world has a,

  446. pattern and it keeps going deeper and deeper and. Deeper

  447. but be transformed by the renewing of your, mind and

  448. then you'll be able to test and approve What god's

  449. will is his, good pleasing and perfect. WILL i want

  450. to let you know you cannot continue to conform to this.

  451. Pattern there's destruction at the end of this. Pattern but

  452. be transformed by the renewing of your. Mind we must

  453. remember that family is worth fighting, for but, adults we

  454. need to remember our own heart is worth fighting for,

  455. Too it's Worth. God we're not just trying to protect our.

  456. Kids we're trying to protect. Marriages we're trying to protect.

  457. Peace we're trying to protect mental, space protecting. Tenderness the

  458. world around us can cause us to be so callous

  459. and so, hard and we don't feel, anymore and we

  460. don't share. Anymore we have a lack of. Empathy we're

  461. protecting our walk With. God social media and digital life

  462. can connect, people but they also are very. Risky The

  463. American Psychological association has worn that social media is not

  464. inherently good or. Bad hear that it's not inherently good or,

  465. bad but check this. Out it affects depends heavily on

  466. how it is, used the content, involved and the vulnerabbibilities

  467. of the person using. It how vulnerable are you to these,

  468. things the things that you're, seeing the things that you're taking.

  469. In so this sermon should not come across as anti.

  470. Technology it should come across as pro, wisdom pro, discipleship

  471. and pro, family because this is what, matters simple. Truth

  472. we do not fight for if we don't fight for

  473. the spiritual climate of our, homes something else will shape.

  474. Us if you don't, fight the enemy is already. Winning

  475. if you don't, fight doing nothing is. Dangerous i'm gonna

  476. say that. Again doing nothing is. Dangerous we've got to do.

  477. So so this, week here's an. Application write down every

  478. name of every person in your. Home well why write it?

  479. DOWN i know everybody who lives in my. House, well

  480. maybe there's some other people who are connected to your.

  481. House maybe it's, grandma maybe it's, aunt maybe it's an.

  482. Uncle maybe it's your, brother your, sister maybe someone else

  483. who's connected to your. Family and once you write their names,

  484. DOWN i want you to pray over those. Names and

  485. THEN i want you to do. THIS i want you

  486. to ask these questions of The. Lord what does this

  487. person need from me? Spiritually what CAN i? Render what

  488. CAN i offer? To what boundaries would bless? Them what

  489. boundaries DO i need to? Set what boundaries DO i

  490. need to? Set With? Grandma? Grandma when they come to your,

  491. house they can only be on the tablet for one.

  492. HOUR i know you really love, them you want them

  493. to be, happy and you want them to not get

  494. on your. Nerves but one, hour what conversation HAVE i been.

  495. Avoiding what conversation HAVE i been avoiding with my? Spouse?

  496. Y'all some of y'all so Glad i'm preaching this. Today.

  497. Amen i'm glad he said it BECAUSE i ain't gotta

  498. say it. Now, amen what example DO i need to?

  499. Set start with? Prayer then take one practical, Step just

  500. do one. Thing. LISTEN i want to give you seven

  501. tips to safeguard your. Family. One create device free. Spaces

  502. device free. Spaces this is a space we don't use.

  503. Devices this is a space for, connection for, rest for,

  504. conversation and we don't use. Devices. Two keep devices out

  505. of the bedroom at. Night i'm telling you it messes you.

  506. Up AND i know some people, say WELL i just can't. Sleep,

  507. well guess what if you pull out Your bible and start.

  508. READING i bet you go to. Sleep i've seen many

  509. go to sleep with The. Bible. Amen ain't no blue

  510. light on This. Bible. Amen get you one to turn

  511. pages all? Right, okay get the regular old school when

  512. they sell them at The barns And nobles. Too. Amen,

  513. three build a family media. Plan build it. Together don't

  514. only make rules for the. Children let the whole household

  515. agree about rules and. Rhythms and. Expectations. Four review screen,

  516. habits honestly talk about. It my biggest goal right now

  517. is for My bible app to be the number one

  518. thing that pops up WHEN i open up to see

  519. review my screen. Time that's my goal right now is.

  520. Text people text a lot these, Days lord A. Mercy.

  521. Five replace screen time with connection, time, meals, walks, games,

  522. prayer reading, together face to face conversations build what screens.

  523. Cannot when you pick the kid up from, school they

  524. are old enough now to sit in the front, seat

  525. talk to, them because most times it looks like this

  526. kid is and the other side going and Sometimes, mom

  527. is you? Two? Dad Six talk openly about content and,

  528. influence not just what you're. Watching but the better question

  529. is how is it shaping? You how is that show shaping?

  530. You is it Glorifying? God is it making you? BETTER

  531. i know you might be enjoying, it but is it

  532. introducing some things that might be toxic down the? Road

  533. model what you? Repeat what you? Want. Repeated number, Seven

  534. model what you want. Repeated, adults you get to set the.

  535. Tone kids will watch and they will normalize what you.

  536. Do guarding your family starts with guarding your own. Heart

  537. identifying weak, spaces creating wise, boundaries and remembering that the

  538. fight is. Spiritual this is a spiritual, fight and your

  539. family is worth. It AS i get ready to, Neha

  540. mayah and the people Of god took fifty two days

  541. to rebuild the, walls how long did it take to

  542. tear them? Down AS i was looking and searching and

  543. preparing for this, MESSAGE i searched my own, heart search

  544. my own, devices AND i started to ask myself the

  545. questions where DO i need to, Stretch where DO i

  546. need to? Grow where DO i need to do? Better

  547. where DO i need to Meet? God in this, CONVERSATION

  548. i want to invite you to take a journey with.

  549. Me over the next fifty two, DAYS i am going

  550. to make some changes in my consumption of digital. Media

  551. only you can make that decision for. YOU i don't

  552. want to give a prescription here because maybe your docage

  553. is different what you're taking. In but you know you

  554. need to make a. Change AND i want you to

  555. sit with your, family sit with your, kids sit with,

  556. yourself and, Say, Lord i'm searching within myself what needs to. Change,

  557. lord help me show me WHAT i need to. Change

  558. AND i trust. THIS i know The lord. Will and

  559. as you pull, AWAY i promise you you're gonna start

  560. seeing a lot. Clearer you're gonna start hearing a lot,

  561. Clearer you're gonna start feeling a lot. Better why because

  562. you won't be consumed by the thing that's been consuming. You, so, parents,

  563. grandparents young, people it's time to get. Up it's time

  564. to get back on the. Wall it's time to post

  565. ourselves in strategic positions that the enemy does not have

  566. access to our family. Anymore stay with me. Today if

  567. you have your, device just grab it for a. Second

  568. james did this last week and he had me in

  569. the back AND i was, like, ooh this thing goes

  570. everywhere with, us everywhere every room of our house that

  571. goes in some of us take it in the bathroom

  572. and he, say, oh let me check one. Email and

  573. before you know, it you've been in there for thirty,

  574. minutes could barely. WALK i knew you knew WHAT i

  575. was talking. About BUT i don't want this to have

  576. that type of power in my. LIFE i Want god

  577. to have the most important space in my life that

  578. WHEN i walk through my, home in every, space That

  579. i'm more interested in Meeting him than meeting a deadline or,

  580. meeting the next email or the next post, store whatever's out.

  581. THERE i want him to take. Resident so this MORNING

  582. i want to pray for. YOU i want to pray two,

  583. things that The lord will search your, heart and then

  584. that The lord will bless, you and that he will

  585. bless you real. Good let's. Pray. GOD i thank you right.

  586. NOW i thank you for your. Word. God you've met,

  587. US O, god every, Night thursday night and this morning

  588. and this second. Service Lord, god you've met. Us And Lord,

  589. god you've been challenging, US O, god and we feel,

  590. it and we won't ignore. It. God we will not

  591. walk out of this space and say we did not

  592. hear the word Of, god we did not hear the.

  593. Challenge we are going to take the challenge because it

  594. matters our, family, matters our, soul, matters our, mind, matters

  595. our ears and mouths and hearts matter Or. God we

  596. want you more than anything. Else. God So lord search,

  597. us and if you find, Anything, god take it. Out

  598. Will god correct, it straighten it, out help us to

  599. partner With, you that we will have a fortified woe

  600. in our lives that the enemy cannot cross and he

  601. cannot enter And, lord as you do bless your. People,

  602. lord may you bless and keep. Us may your faith

  603. shine upon. Us may you continue to be so gracious

  604. to us Of god and give us shalom your. Peace

  606. is In jesus'. Name let everybody say amen and, amen
