  5. Speaker: this cup is the new.

  6. Speaker: Did you hear that?

  7. Speaker: This cup is the new covenant in my blood.

  8. Speaker: This do as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

  9. Speaker: Communion is a command and also a gift from God.

  10. Speaker: On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus broke bread

  11. Speaker: and shared the cup.

  12. Speaker: What did he say?

  13. Speaker: Do this in remembrance of me.

  14. Speaker: He didn't say.

  15. Speaker: Think about it.

  16. Speaker: He didn't say, if you have time, do this in remembrance of me.

  17. Speaker: Communion reminds.

  18. Speaker: Reminds the believer Christ's body was broken for you.

  19. Speaker: Christ's body was broken for me.

  20. Speaker: Christ's blood was shed for each of you.

  21. Speaker: It was shed for me.

  22. Speaker: Our salvation.

  23. Speaker: And hear me on this today our salvation came at a cost.

  24. Speaker: Now we're great at saying, oh, it didn't cost me anything.

  25. Speaker: Why don't you talk to Jesus?

  26. Speaker: What it cost him?

  27. Speaker: Again, as we head into lent season in the Easter story, I

  28. Speaker: encourage you wholeheartedly do some digging and see what they

  29. Speaker: did to that man.

  30. Speaker: There ain't a man or a woman walking this earth.

  31. Speaker: I believe that could have taken the punishment, the brutal beat

  32. Speaker: down that he took for us.

  33. Speaker: We got all these men walking around thinking they're studs.

  34. Speaker: Yeah, right.

  35. Speaker: Let's see what a man you are going through.

  36. Speaker: What Jesus did.

  37. Speaker: Our salvation came at a cost.

  38. Speaker: And it's just not about looking back.

  39. Speaker: It's about recognizing that his sacrifice still speaks today.

  40. Speaker: And this very Sunday, my

  41. Speaker: friends, when you and I take the

  42. Speaker: bread and the cup we proclaim,

  43. Speaker: we proclaim that his grace is

  44. Speaker: sufficient.

  45. Speaker: Grace is sufficient.

  46. Speaker: First Corinthians eleven twenty

  47. Speaker: seven to twenty nine therefore

  48. Speaker: whoever eats this bread or

  49. Speaker: drinks this cup of the Lord in

  50. Speaker: an unworthy.

  51. Speaker: Now here we go, folks.

  52. Speaker: This is my part of the preaching I need to do in an unworthy

  53. Speaker: manner will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.

  54. Speaker: But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread

  55. Speaker: and drink of the cup.

  56. Speaker: For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks

  57. Speaker: judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

  58. Speaker: Repentance is not about

  59. Speaker: condemning condemnation, my

  60. Speaker: friends.

  61. Speaker: Repentance is about cleansing.

  62. Speaker: How many of you took a shower last night?

  63. Speaker: I took a shower this morning,

  64. Speaker: getting all the gunk and the

  65. Speaker: nastiness off, from cleaning the

  66. Speaker: barn to sitting at a desk all

  67. Speaker: day.

  68. Speaker: You need clean, don't you?

  69. Speaker: Or you come away, you become that stinky person.

  70. Speaker: Remember pig pen from Charlie Brown?

  71. Speaker: Kid always had all the dirt and dust rolling around.

  72. Speaker: Do you want to be a pig pen or do you want to be clean?

  73. Speaker: And Jesus is offering that to each of us.

  74. Speaker: Repentance is about cleansing.

  75. Speaker: It is the act of saying, Lord, search me, forgive me, restore

  76. Speaker: me, restore me, Lord.

  77. Speaker: In Second Chronicles seven fourteen.

  78. Speaker: If my people are called by my name, will humble themselves and

  79. Speaker: pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I

  80. Speaker: will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin.

  81. Speaker: And who?

  82. Speaker: And do what?

  83. Speaker: Heal their land.

  84. Speaker: how about in America?

  85. Speaker: Do we need some healing?

  86. Speaker: Yes, I think we do.

  87. Speaker: I think we do.

  88. Speaker: We need some healing.

  89. Speaker: Repentance clears away pride,

  90. Speaker: bitterness, hidden sin, and

  91. Speaker: unforgiveness.

  92. Speaker: Repentance softens our hearts so we can receive grace.

  93. Speaker: What we can receive grace fully without repentance, communion.

  94. Speaker: And here we go.

  95. Speaker: Communion becomes routine.

  96. Speaker: Another check on the check box.

  97. Speaker: With repentance, communion becomes revival.

  98. Speaker: I love that word revival.

  99. Speaker: Repentance.

  100. Speaker: Communion becomes revival.

  101. Speaker: Communion reconnects us.

  102. Speaker: To what?

  103. Speaker: To the cross.

  104. Speaker: Every time we partake, we return to the cross.

  105. Speaker: We remember that forgiveness was purchased, not earned.

  106. Speaker: Did you hear me on that?

  107. Speaker: Forgiveness was purchased, not earned.

  108. Speaker: We remember that mercy triumphs

  109. Speaker: over judgment, Repentance and

  110. Speaker: communion together.

  111. Speaker: Remind you and I and hear it now.

  112. Speaker: We are sinners.

  113. Speaker: I don't care how high in pride you're sitting in the pew or

  114. Speaker: you're listening right now.

  115. Speaker: You're a sinner.

  116. Speaker: Christ, though who?

  117. Speaker: Christ is the Savior.

  118. Speaker: He is our Savior.

  119. Speaker: Grace is greater than failure.

  120. Speaker: Thank you, Heavenly Father, for that.

  121. Speaker: Did you hear me?

  122. Speaker: Grace is greater than failure.

  123. Speaker: I don't know about you, but man, I a lot of failure in my life.

  124. Speaker: When you and I repent, we do not move away from God.

  125. Speaker: We move toward him.

  126. Speaker: And at the table here this

  127. Speaker: morning, my friends, you and I

  128. Speaker: will be reminded that he has

  129. Speaker: already made a way for us to

  130. Speaker: come closer.

  131. Speaker: He's cleared out all the junk.

  132. Speaker: You ever get in a traffic jam?

  133. Speaker: How many of us.

  134. Speaker: Oh, we get mad and we start a dirty dogs.

  135. Speaker: Get out!

  136. Speaker: You know what I mean?

  137. Speaker: The frustration starts.

  138. Speaker: Jesus came through, and he cleared the way.

  139. Speaker: Remember that?

  140. Speaker: He cleared the way for you.

  141. Speaker: Communion unites the body.

  142. Speaker: We do not take communion alone.

  143. Speaker: We take it as one body, one church, one family in Christ.

  144. Speaker: Repentance restores not only our

  145. Speaker: relationship with God, but also

  146. Speaker: with one another, with one

  147. Speaker: another.

  148. Speaker: And that is so crucial in today's age.

  149. Speaker: Because do you think Satan wants a church that's united?

  150. Speaker: Do you think Satan wants a church that's moving to God,

  151. Speaker: moving for God, bringing people in, telling of salvation?

  152. Speaker: No.

  153. Speaker: No. If there is division,

  154. Speaker: resentment or unforgiveness, the

  155. Speaker: table calls you and I for

  156. Speaker: reconciliation.

  157. Speaker: Remember this church.

  158. Speaker: The bread is one.

  159. Speaker: The body is one.

  160. Speaker: We are one in him.

  161. Speaker: Look around right now.

  162. Speaker: Look at your neighbors.

  163. Speaker: We are one in him.

  164. Speaker: Doesn't that excite you?

  165. Speaker: Yes.

  166. Speaker: We're a family united in him.

  167. Speaker: So why are communion and

  168. Speaker: repentance important this

  169. Speaker: morning?

  170. Speaker: Because repentance keeps our hearts tender.

  171. Speaker: Because communion keeps our faith centered.

  172. Speaker: Because repentance and communion together, they keep us what?

  173. Speaker: They keep us close to Jesus.

  174. Speaker: Now, let me ask you something as we close here.

  175. Speaker: Do you want to be close to the world?

  176. Speaker: Do you want to add a boy, a pat on the back from the world?

  177. Speaker: Or would you rather, when you come before judgment, Jesus

  178. Speaker: says, well done, well done, good and faithful servant.

  179. Speaker: I'll take that second part any day.

  180. Speaker: And Mark one fourteen to fifteen Now.

  181. Speaker: After John was put in prison,

  182. Speaker: Jesus came to Galilee, preaching

  183. Speaker: the gospel of the kingdom of God

  184. Speaker: and saying, the time is

  185. Speaker: fulfilled.

  186. Speaker: Who?

  187. Speaker: What's that say?

  188. Speaker: And the kingdom of God is at hand.

  189. Speaker: Repent and believe in the gospel.

  190. Speaker: How much plainer does it have to be?

  191. Speaker: My friends, today I plead with you and hear me on this.

  192. Speaker: Wake up if you're not listening, look at me for just a second.

  193. Speaker: Today I plead with you as a family.

  194. Speaker: Do not just take the bread.

  195. Speaker: Receive his grace.

  196. Speaker: Do not just drink from the cup.

  197. Speaker: Drink deeply of his mercy.

  198. Speaker: Let us come humble.

  199. Speaker: Let us come honestly.

  200. Speaker: Let us come gratefully and let us leave renewed.

  201. Speaker: Amen.
