  1. Good morning, Oh bless you. What an honor to be here,

  2. to preach the world anywhere. It's an honor always, but

  3. this is special because this is my church. And uh,

  4. I'm so thankful. God is so wonderful, so generous. Several

  5. years ago I was praying for a church leaders who

  6. could who could mentor me and give me some feedback

  7. to improve in my preaching and my ministry. And uh

  8. and then God me, God, bring me here and and

  9. and I'm about to preach in English, so that so

  10. if you if you're asking God, uh, we prepare so. Uh.

  11. It's so wonderful for God. And this is so helpful

  12. for me to so uh, let's go to the world.

  13. In Oneepeter four seven through eleven, I'm going to read

  14. here Worf. God says this, the end of all things

  15. is at hand. Therefore, be self controlled and sober minded

  16. for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving

  17. one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

  18. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has

  19. received a gift, use it to serve one another. Has

  20. good stores of God's buried grace. Whoever speaks as one

  21. who speaks oracles of God. Whoever serves as one who

  22. serves by the strength that God supplies, in order that

  23. in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To

  24. Him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. That's

  25. the world of God. When God saved me, I was

  26. so broken. I was in a darkness place, very sad.

  27. And then Christ came to my life, and I experienced

  28. a piece of joy that I never thought, but follow

  29. it by that it was persecution and suffering. And I

  30. can say to this day that the peace and joy

  31. that of being in Christ has always been greater than

  32. my sufferings. Now at this time I will say that

  33. I'm leaving has Pastor Josh Bridge a few weeks ago

  34. on the pleasant providence of God. So many things I

  35. can I can share with you. There's no time God

  36. is good. But whether we are going through a time

  37. of persecution of suffering, or whether we are in a

  38. pleasant time of God's providence, we need to remember this

  39. that our purpose in life is to glorify God through

  40. our life in Jesus Christ. Here in First Peter, we

  41. see that Peter is writing to this Christians, these churches

  42. that they were in persecution and suffering, and his writing

  43. to encourage them and to exhortain too. There were maybe

  44. lost in their position in society, their jobs, their friends,

  45. even suffering rejection from their families, and they were about

  46. to experience the great persecution. So Peter's writes to encourage

  47. these believers. He speaks to them of how they should

  48. live and suffering according to the indentity in Christ, a

  49. life center on Christ, his life, his death, his resurrection, resurrection,

  50. and in the expectation of his return. All of this

  51. is in order to glorify God. What I want to

  52. argue this morning through our texts is this that this

  53. is the time that we have to glorify God through

  54. Jesus Christ, in everything, but especially in this text, in

  55. all relationships. And this is time because there's an urgency,

  56. there's an opportunity, and there's a capacity. So let's see

  57. through our text the urgency. In verse seven, we read

  58. this the end of all things is at Hence therefore,

  59. so we see Peter here, he's talking about the end

  60. of all things. Ice is coming. Christ is coming, So

  61. what do we need to do? It's an exhortation. I

  62. was thinking, Uh, this is my first preaching here, and

  63. after three years of preaching. I mean, I wasn't preaching

  64. for three years, and I'm gonna preason exhortation. That's great, right,

  65. But this is our text. I'm not the one who's

  66. exhorting you, is the Lord. But I wanted to encourage

  67. you too, I mean through the texts. So anyway, we

  68. have this text, and this is not the only occasion

  69. with Peter's talked about the second coming of Christ. We

  70. can read in first Peter one five says a salvation

  71. ready to be revealed in the last time. In Uh

  72. five ten we read this who has called you to

  73. his eternal glory in Christ talking about the second coming

  74. of Christ? And then he said that we he will resolve,

  75. confirmt strain, and establish you. And there's an another verse

  76. that Peters is using to show us that Christ is coming, says,

  77. but the day of the Lord will come. Now he's

  78. not saying when, we don't know when, right, but he

  79. is saying he will come. For sure, he will come.

  80. And then he said this in verse eleven, since all

  81. these things are thus to be dis all, what sort

  82. of people all you to be? In lives of holiness

  83. and godliness, and our text is the same thing. It's

  84. an exhortation. There's an urgency to live for the glory

  85. of God, to leave a life of godliness. In Holiness

  86. chapter four, we see, for example, that he call us

  87. to leave this life that we left. We don't know

  88. when God is going to call us, but he said

  89. live your life doing the will of God. That's first

  90. spirit for two. So there's an urgency to leave for

  91. the glory of God. Christ is coming. Peters Turtles tells

  92. us it's at hen in Mexico City. I don't know

  93. if you you guys know, Mexico City one of the

  94. biggest cities in the world. Twenty two millions I think

  95. right now. People. So it's common to see people in

  96. the streets to selling tamales and you can hear it

  97. from from the from your apartment. They with those screens

  98. tamales tamales, and they have this speaker very similar to

  99. a heartquake alarm. So when I went to make we

  100. went to Mexico Cities years ago. We rented an Rbnb

  101. apartment in the fourteenth floor a building in the downtown.

  102. And while we were already asleep about one am, the

  103. hairquake alarm began to sound, and at first I thought, man,

  104. that was too that's too late to sort amalice right,

  105. But it was not a malice. So I realized me

  106. and my wife took her daughters. There was no time

  107. to go down. So we stood on a frame door

  108. and we just waved there and start the buildings started

  109. moving and everything was started moving moving there. I was like,

  110. this is it, and I was I wasn't afraid of that. Really,

  111. I was saying, I'm going with the lore, We're going

  112. with the lor But I was this profound feeling of disappointment.

  113. I was thinking, I thought I had more time. I

  114. thought I had more time to live a life and

  115. holiness God to glorify you. And that's it. I was glad,

  116. I'm going, I'm with the Lord. But at the same time,

  117. I'm like, I'm a little sav and thanks God he

  118. gave me an opportunity again, I'm here right, So, but

  119. he also reminds me the urgency of living a life

  120. to glorify Him. And that's what I want to do

  121. today through this text, the urgency to live a life

  122. like that. How are you living today? How's your life?

  123. Can you see the urgency. Well, God gives us the

  124. opportunity to the opportunity. Let's let's read we see him

  125. verse seven. There's an opportunity through our relationships. And he's

  126. talking about praying, says, be self control and sober minded

  127. for the sake of your prayers, for the sake of

  128. your prayers. So this is a relation, a vertical relation.

  129. How is a relation with God? Because prayer, that that's

  130. what is what is what it is all about. Right,

  131. It's an intimate relation with our God. It's not just

  132. to go with God and just asking for things because

  133. he is all powerful. No is to be in the

  134. presence of God because we need it, because we satisfy

  135. in Him. So this is the opportunity self control. It

  136. means to be alert, vigilant, to be a a discipline life,

  137. with a career mind about what to ask for and

  138. to the importance and need of an intimate relation with

  139. God in the meditation of his world and the prayer.

  140. I know it says prayer. But prayer and the world

  141. of God is always together. The meditation of the world

  142. and the prayer is always had to be together. How

  143. do we know how to ask? Through the scriptures? So

  144. it's a relation with God. And what a great opportunity

  145. we have right now. Listen this text rus for fifteen sixteen.

  146. For we do not have a high priest who has

  147. unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in

  148. every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

  149. And then says this, let us, then, with confidence, draw

  150. near to the throne of Grace, that we may receive

  151. mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

  152. That's the opportunity we have a relation with God. We

  153. are praying. We are praying right now for a church planting,

  154. small group individually. And I think God has given us

  155. a clear mind for that. I think we have been

  156. a prudent so re minded about it. And now we

  157. see how God has responded, and God is glorified him

  158. through that. John Piper says, God is most glorify in

  159. us when we are most satisfied in Him. So this

  160. is the opportunity to have a relation with God. This

  161. is the time and to be satisfying Him in order

  162. to glorify him. But there's another opportunity to the relation,

  163. the horizontal relation with one another. Verse eight, talking about love,

  164. it says earnestly in their love for one another. This

  165. text speaks of having a sincere, deep, constant, and intentional love.

  166. And then Peter is using an expression that we also

  167. see in Proverbs ten twelve. It says this hatred tears

  168. up strife. The law covers all offenses. We could have

  169. another sermon on that, maybe Josh wi appreciator. But let

  170. me explain a little bit about this. What I think

  171. Peter is saying here, hate spreads more scene and intensifies it.

  172. It's like if when well, don't do it, but if

  173. you hit a harness nest, what you know what's going

  174. to happen? Right? I know, beloves does the opposite. It

  175. keeps the scenes committed from being in their fullest expression,

  176. not those it's allowed allowed it to spread. It's like

  177. a vaccine that it keeps the disease from getting worse

  178. and spreading. That's what love is doing. This kind of love,

  179. Supiterit is not talking about superficial love, but a love,

  180. a deeper love, a love that is not only seen

  181. when we are partying, when we have a good time

  182. with people that is like us, people that the like

  183. things that I like and don't don't get me wrong,

  184. that's that's okay, that's great. But he's talking about this

  185. love that even when we have differences, even when we're

  186. not like each other, I mean we're not the same, right,

  187. and even and especially when we have conflicts, it's not allowed.

  188. I have conflicts, I don't like you anymore, goodbye. No,

  189. this love, it will resolve the conflict through the gospel.

  190. Because love, that's what it's doing. It covers multitude of things.

  191. And and don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that

  192. we don't have to explore or to help brother. There

  193. are in sinful ways match to eighteen right, But we talk,

  194. we talk about this love and and even on that cases,

  195. we had to address this with love, show hospitality one another.

  196. That's the other opportunity in our relations. It means to

  197. be ready, willing to receive brothers and sisters in your

  198. home and treat them in the best possible way. Some people,

  199. maybe they're thinking, well, two thousand years ago, that, yeah,

  200. that was I mean essential. There was no hotels like

  201. right now r vmbs and I don't know what else

  202. we have, but there was not like that, and especially

  203. there was persecution and suffering people lost home probably, but

  204. doesn't mean that today is not applicable even in another countries.

  205. That's what is happening right now, but right now in

  206. our context, that's so essential as a Christians. So we

  207. it's the text says, without grumbling, without complaining. Maybe your

  208. complaints are real, but we go back to love right.

  209. Love will cover a multitude of sins. So that's why

  210. Peter says, above all, love each other earnestly. And then

  211. we hear this to serve, I mean, so serve one another.

  212. And if you are a believer, you have a gift

  213. or more from God. God is saying too, that you

  214. had to stur that gift. You're the manager of that gift.

  215. That means that you had to develop the gift, to

  216. supervise it, evaluate it, and improve it. Why because, as

  217. you know, because of others. To serve others better. The

  218. one who speaks, and this is not an exhaustive list

  219. of gifts, right, but the one who speaks says that

  220. we could say preaching, evangelize and counseling, teaching, exhortation and more.

  221. The imperative of this is to speak according to the

  222. oracles of God, according to the world of God if

  223. you speak, if you have that gift, and even if

  224. you don't have that gift, you had to talk to

  225. the Word of God one another. We see it from

  226. the Old Testament to the New Testament. The false teacher,

  227. the false prophet, and the false teacher there were leading

  228. the people away from the God, from the from the world,

  229. the world of God. So we had to watch our

  230. words when we speak, especially when we are exercising this

  231. gift from the Holy Spirit. And let me emphasize what

  232. a blessing we have in this church about accountability, sharing

  233. each other, praying each other. Mark Devor says about discipleship,

  234. Christian discipleship isn't just about displaying your strength. It's about

  235. displaying your weaknesses too. That's what we're doing in the

  236. accountability time. So we have to be careful to talk

  237. to speak to each other the world of God because

  238. sometimes sometimes they share things so difficult and we're we're

  239. just like Colnate, right, I mean, it's okay, it's okay, yes,

  240. but let's go into the war of God and talk

  241. to each other the wars of God. Be ready the

  242. one who serves service, giving mercy, decernments administration. Peter remind

  243. us that we must always exercise these gifts of service

  244. in the strength of God. It is not only to

  245. recognize that it is God who's giving us these gifts

  246. that will lived and the work, but it is also

  247. to remember all the time that is in total dependence

  248. on Him. Because apart from Christ we can do. We

  249. can do three things right, nothing nothing another we can't

  250. do anything. It's true Christ. Thanks God for Crossway. We

  251. can see that so many brothers and sisters serving each

  252. other on every Sunday. Even from the outside, we see

  253. the welcoming team, children's team, the coffee team. I mean,

  254. I don't want to miss someone, but it's so many

  255. good servants of God. Praise God for this church. But

  256. let's always remember that we do all this in the

  257. strength of God. I remember three years ago the first

  258. Sunday we came to Crossway. At the end of the service,

  259. the last thing her was you are Love. I was thinking,

  260. what a nice way to end the service, you are love.

  261. Much better to say it, George dismiss. But I knew

  262. this from that day. I knew this is not a cliche.

  263. The smiles when they opened the door, the people you know,

  264. and so so much love there. The coffee. Coffee is good. Listen,

  265. I didn't I didn't like coffee before Crossway, so so

  266. so great. So we we show the love of God

  267. through all these little things. Maybe they're not leader. We

  268. serve one another another, and so thankful for this church.

  269. We can say truly we have been very love. I

  270. could say so many things about Crossway for the glory

  271. of God. But listen, look at me. I'm here preaching

  272. in English and about the prison in Spanish. Indeed, we

  273. are love, we are love. So we see these texts

  274. praise God reflected in Crossway. But brothers, sisters, don't forget.

  275. Everything is for the glory of God. Everything is by

  276. His strength. And let's do this. Let's keep doing it

  277. until the end the urgency. Remember, PRIs is coming. So

  278. he gives so many opportunities, but especially he giving the

  279. capacity to do it, the capacity to do it. Verse eleven.

  280. It says in order that in everything God may be

  281. glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion

  282. forever and ever. Amen, He's the capacity to glorify Him

  283. in our relationships through Jesus Christ. So obviously this is

  284. not a list from Peter for us to trying to

  285. earn God's favor. And if we do it like that,

  286. the list we're going to do is glorify, glorifying God.

  287. Romance five six. I love this verse. He says, for

  288. a while we were still weak, at the right time,

  289. die Christ died for the ungothly. This wark week I

  290. like in in the original Greek, is this war astens

  291. and what it means also, it means that we now capacity,

  292. not just weak, we now capacity. Without Christ, we don't

  293. have capacity to glorify him. But if we have Christ,

  294. we do we have that. Perhaps here there's someone doesn't

  295. know Christ, maybe knows the gospel for years that he's

  296. not there a believer. So I share this with you.

  297. Come to Christ. If you realize that you are without capacity.

  298. Maybe you've been trying, but now you know I need Christ.

  299. Come to Christ. Mark one, p. Fifteen says the time

  300. is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God it's at ten.

  301. Repent and believe in the gospel today. This is your opportunity.

  302. There's an urgency. But God not only give us the

  303. individual capacity to live to glorify Him, but he has

  304. also giving us the church. That's a community where together

  305. we can glorify Him. Just think about these commendments to

  306. one another. How are we going to do this if

  307. it's not in the context of a community, a Christian community,

  308. the church? Do we create the church? Do we create

  309. this church? Crossway? They just did that. No, it's a

  310. gift from God to us to live a life too

  311. mature to make disciples. Everything for the glory of God.

  312. That's that's what we have on the walls and praise God.

  313. That's what we're doing. Let's keep doing it. But don't

  314. don't get it for for granted. That's the word. Don't

  315. don't think, oh, we have it, Praise God, we have it.

  316. The rich won't offer I don't know if that's correct

  317. pronunciation as a pastor and great war. When the second

  318. ward he said this, we easily forget that life among

  319. Christians Christians is a gift of the Kingdom of God

  320. that can be taken away from us at any moment,

  321. and that in an instant, too, we can be abandoned

  322. to complete loneliness. Therefore, whoever has been granted to experience

  323. this extraordinary grace of community life, let him praise God

  324. with all his heart. Let him kneel down, thank him

  325. and confess that it is grace. It's only grace, crossway,

  326. your only grace. It is a gift from God to

  327. the Church. The only reason we have the capacity to

  328. have a relationship with God in prayer is because Christ

  329. is our highest priests. The only reason we can love

  330. one another in such a way that we cover a

  331. multitude of sins is because Christ has covered the totality

  332. of our sins forever. The only reason we can serve

  333. one another is because Christ came to serve us and

  334. humble himself to death on the croust. The only reason

  335. you and I can glorify God is through Jesus Christ,

  336. dying on the cross for our sins, rising again in

  337. the third Day, and he continues to work in your life,

  338. in my life until today. So to him be glorified

  339. the glory and dominion forever and ever, as he says

  340. the text. So we've been talking through the text about

  341. glorifying God through our lives through Jesus Christ in our relationship.

  342. God creates everything for his glory. That's the ultimate purpose

  343. for his glory. So everything we do it is for

  344. his glory. But there is an urgency there's an urgency

  345. to that as we see. But God, oh, also he's

  346. providing opportunities through the Church, through our relation with Him

  347. and with the Church. And He also has given you

  348. the capacity to do it. So what do we need

  349. to do glorifying God in the history of redemption? And

  350. I will finish with that. I'm going to invite the

  351. band to come here the history of redemption? Has Christ

  352. already come, died and resurrected? Yes? Has Christ already established

  353. his church? Yes? So what is next? Christ is coming?

  354. Chapter four says to judge the living and the death.

  355. He's coming. So it's the same like two thousand years

  356. ago we read this and seven the end of all

  357. things is at hand, the same thing we can say today.

  358. We don't know when He's coming. It could be tomorrow.

  359. So let me ask you this, how would you live

  360. if you knew Christ was coming tomorrow? How will you

  361. live today? How about Christ is coming in two weeks,

  362. in five years, ten years? Only that we don't know

  363. when God is gonna call us to his presence, how

  364. are we going to live the rest of the life

  365. that we have? How are we gonna live in the meantime?

  366. The God will return a life of holiness, a life

  367. to glorify Him. We have everything to do it. We're

  368. doing it. Thanks God for that this church. Thanks God

  369. that I said, I said too many times, right, but

  370. praise God. But let's keep doing it. And if you're

  371. not doing it, don't let it happen to you. Like

  372. when I was in that earthquake and I said, I

  373. thought I had more time. God is giving you the opportunity.

  374. God has given you the capacity to do it. This

  375. is time to glorify God through Jesus Christ in your relationships.

  376. So let's do it. Church. Please stand up, Let's prayle

  377. worship God together. Praise Him for this church, Praise Him

  378. for the opportunities. Praise him because he gives us the capacity.

  379. He gives us everything we need to glorify His name,

  380. and in doing that we will be satisfied. Father in Heaven.

  381. We praise you. We leave for that. You are so wonderful.

  382. You give us everything to praise you. You give us the upperpportunities,

  383. the capacity in Jesus Christ. Help us to remember that

  384. there is an urgency in this happens. To remember to

  385. glorify your name every day until you come in Jesus Christ.

  386. We praised, Amen,
