  8. All thine iniquities, who doth most graciously forgive, who thy diseases all and pains doth heal and thee relieve.

  9. Who doth redeem thy life that thou to death mayest not go down, who thee with loving kindness doth and tender mercy's crown.

  10. Who with abundance of good things doth satisfy thy mouth, so that even as the eagle's age, renewed is thy youth.

  11. A psalm that speaks of God's goodness and love towards his people.

  12. It's a psalm that will come back to sing the concluding verses at the end of our worship service.

  13. So let us lift our voices in praise to God.

  14. Let us stand together and sing this.

  15. O thou, my soul, bless God the Lord.

  16. O thou, my soul, bless God the Lord, and all that in me is.

  17. He shed a praise holy name to magnify and bless.

  24. Thank you.

  25. Thank you.

  26. Thank you.

  27. Thank you.

  28. Amen.

  29. Amen.

  30. Amen.

  31. We now join together in prayer and join our hearts together.

  32. Amen.

  33. Amen.

  34. Amen.

  35. Amen.

  36. Amen.

  37. You know all things and you know the hairs that are upon our heads.

  38. You know the anxieties within our hearts.

  39. You know the sadness within our hearts.

  40. And we pray for those who are sad within their heart tonight.

  41. We ask that you would remember them and that we would bring them before you.

  42. That you would be a comfort to them.

  43. And comfort those who mourn we pray.

  44. We just ask that your loving arms would be wrapped around them.

  45. And that you would continue with them.

  46. Step by step in days that are so uncertain.

  47. Days that may be fearful to them.

  48. But as we heard in the morning.

  49. You are one who gives peace.

  50. You are the one that does not bring unto us things like the world does.

  51. You take from us these anxieties and our fears.

  52. And grants to us a peace within our hearts.

  53. When we draw close to you.

  54. And you draw close to us.

  55. So in the gathering of your people.

  56. May we know the closeness of your presence.

  57. And the blessing of your spirit upon us.

  58. As your word is spoken and read aloud tonight.

  59. That it may speak within our hearts.

  60. May it be a convicting voice.

  61. A converting voice.

  62. A strengthening voice.

  63. An encouraging voice to each of us.

  64. That we would know you.

  65. When we gather with a heart and mind.

  66. To seek you.

  67. And so let us do that tonight.

  68. Have a focus upon all the works of God.

  69. And what Christ has done for us on the cross at Calvary.

  70. And through that sacrifice.

  71. We have been redeemed.

  72. There is no other power that can wash away sins.

  73. Sins that separate us from God.

  74. That only through having faith in Christ.

  75. Trusting and resting upon him.

  76. Shall we be granted entry into your presence.

  77. And unto the kingdom of glory.

  78. Let us not forget what awaits those who trust in Christ.

  79. For the hope that is set before us.

  80. A place with no sorrow.

  81. A place with no pain.

  82. A place where we shall adore and look upon.

  83. The lamb that was slain.

  84. But it will be beautiful to us.

  85. And his radiance will illuminate our presence.

  86. And illuminate that land.

  87. Let us keep our mind.

  88. Upon things that are beyond this world.

  89. And attain.

  90. The things that are of.

  91. Everlasting joy.

  92. To the believer in Christ.

  93. Lord we pray.

  94. That as you gather with us here.

  95. We pray for the young ones.

  96. That are within this congregation.

  97. And we are mindful of those.

  98. Who may be away at camps.

  99. We pray for them.

  100. We pray for our own sponsor camp.

  101. Concraig Junior.

  102. And we thank you.

  103. That they have gathered safely together.

  104. And that they went to worship God together today.

  105. That as they join together one another.

  106. May you form lasting friendships there.

  107. And bind them together.

  108. And bind them together with your love.

  109. That they may come to understand.

  110. Your love.

  111. That is not like the love of this world.

  112. It is a love that does not hold grudges.

  113. It is a love.

  114. It is a love.

  115. It is not angered.

  116. It is a love.

  117. It is a love.

  118. It is a love.

  119. That calls to us.

  120. To come to him.

  121. To confess of our sins.

  122. That we may be adopted into the family of God.

  123. Lord we pray.

  124. That as your word has been proclaimed throughout your land.

  125. And this nation.

  126. This island.

  127. That it would go with your blessing.

  128. And that it would go with the power of your spirit.

  129. Lord it is not by any man.

  130. Can the mysterious works be done.

  131. But by the works of your spirit.

  132. Convicting and converting.

  133. And turning souls that lie in sin.

  134. Unto yourself.

  135. Lord we just ask.

  136. That you would bind us together.

  137. In your love.

  138. As we gather here this evening.

  139. We pray.

  140. That you would strengthen each of us.

  141. In our tasks.

  142. In our homes.

  143. In the duties that we have.

  144. Often we feel.

  145. Insufficient.

  146. For what lies ahead of us.

  147. Often we feel weak.

  148. To the tasks that are set before us.

  149. Lord.

  150. Renew us.

  151. As we come before you.

  152. May the strength of that eagle.

  153. That is spoken in Isaiah be ours.

  154. May we walk.

  155. And continue to run.

  156. And striving towards that.

  157. Crown of righteousness.

  158. That shall be ours.

  159. As we walk in faith.

  160. And trust in you.

  161. Be with us.

  162. We pray.

  163. Watch over us.

  164. In Persian.

  165. Watch over us.

  166. In our homes.

  167. Keep us in health.

  168. And strength.

  169. And all this.

  170. We ask.

  171. In the name of Jesus Christ.

  172. Amen.

  173. We'll continue.

  174. In our praise to God.

  175. By singing in Psalm 32.

  176. In the Sing Psalms version.

  177. We'll find that on page 38.

  178. Of the blue book.

  179. Psalm 32.

  180. From the beginning of that psalm.

  181. Down to verse Mark 7.

  182. How blessed the one who has received.

  183. Forgiveness for his sin.

  184. Whose sins are covered from God's face.

  185. Whose debt is cancelled in God's grace.

  186. There's no deceit in him.

  187. Down to verse Mark 7.

  188. You are my hiding place O Lord.

  189. My true security.

  190. You keep me safe in troubled days.

  191. You circle me with joyful praise.

  192. When you have set me free.

  193. The psalm is speaking of that joy.

  194. In knowing that his sins are forgiven.

  195. And all debt is cancelled.

  196. By the grace of God.

  197. We stand together and sing these words.

  198. How blessed the one who has received.

  199. Forgiveness for his sin.

  200. How blessed the one who has received.

  201. Forgiveness for his sin.

  202. Who united the一起 to return.

  203. The birthday of God.

  204. Where God

  205. Let us pray.

  206. Let us pray.

  207. Let us pray.

  208. Let us pray.

  209. I said, O Lord, I have transgressed, and you forgive when I confess.

  210. You pardoned all my sins.

  211. Let the Godly pay to you, and you are to be found.

  212. Surely when waves are sweeping past, and mighty waters rising past, you'll keep them safe and sound.

  213. You are my hiding place, O Lord, my true security.

  214. You keep me safe and troubled days.

  215. You circle me with joyful praise, and you have set me free.

  216. Amen.

  217. Turn now to our Bibles, and if we could turn to the book of Isaiah.

  218. The prophecy of Isaiah, chapter 1 of that book.

    Isaiah 1 chapter mention

  219. We'll read from the beginning of that chapter down to verse Mark 20.

  220. Let us hear God's word.

  221. The vision of Isaiah, the son of Amos, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

  222. Hear, O heavens, and give ye, O earth, for the Lord has spoken.

  223. Children I have reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.

  224. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib, but Israel does not know.

  225. My people do not understand.

  226. Ah, sinful nation.

  227. A people laden with iniquity.

  228. Offspring of evildoers.

  229. Children who deal corruptly.

  230. They have forsaken the Lord.

  231. They have despised the Holy One of Israel.

  232. They are utterly estranged.

  233. Why will you still be struck down?

  234. Why will you continue to rebel?

  235. The whole head is sick.

  236. The whole heart faint.

  237. From the sole of the foot to the head, there is no soundness in it.

  238. But bruises and sores and raw wounds, they are not pressed out or bound up or softened with oil.

  239. Your country lies desolate.

  240. Your cities are burned with fire.

  241. In your very presence, foreigners devour your land.

  242. It is desolate as overthrown by foreigners.

  243. And the daughter of Zion is left like a booth in a vineyard, like a lodge in a cucumber field, like a besieged city.

  244. If the Lord of hosts had not left us, we should have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah.

  245. Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Gomorrah.

  246. What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices, says the Lord.

  247. I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts.

  248. I do not delight in the blood of bulls or of lambs or of goats.

  249. When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my coats?

  250. Bring no more vain offerings.

  251. The incense is an abomination to me.

  252. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations.

  253. I do not endure iniquity and solemn assembly.

  254. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates.

  255. They have become a burden to me.

  256. I am weary of bearing them.

  257. When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you.

  258. Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen.

  259. Your hands are full of blood.

  260. Wash yourselves.

  261. Make yourselves clean.

  262. Remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes.

  263. Cease to do evil.

  264. Learn to do good.

  265. Seek justice, correct oppression.

  266. Bring justice to the fatherless.

  267. Plead the widow's cause.

  268. Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord.

  269. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.

  270. Though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

  271. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.

  272. But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword.

  273. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

  274. We turn now also to the book of Revelation, chapter 7.

    Revelation 7 chapter mention

  275. Read there from verse 9 of that chapter.

  276. Revelation 7.

  277. Reading at verse 9, down to verse 17.

  278. John's vision of a great multitude in heaven.

  279. After this, I looked and behold a great multitude that no one could number from every nation,

  280. from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and the Lamb,

  281. clothed in white robes with pan branches in their hands,

  282. and crying out with a loud voice,

  283. Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb.

  284. And all the angels were standing around the throne and round the elders and the four living creatures,

  285. and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, saying,

  286. Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and might

  287. be to our God forever and ever.

  288. Amen.

  289. Then one of the elders addressed me, saying,

  290. Who are these, clothed in white robes,

  291. and from where have they come?

  292. I said, Sir, you know.

  293. And he said to me,

  294. These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation.

  295. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

  296. Therefore they are before the throne of God,

  297. and serve him day and night in his temple.

  298. And he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.

  299. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more.

  300. The sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.

  301. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd.

  302. He will guide them to springs of living water,

  303. and God will wipe away every tear from their eye.

  304. Amen.

  305. May the reading of God's word be a blessing to us.

  306. We'll join in praise again by singing in Psalm 51.

  307. Psalm 51 of the Scottish Psalter Version.

  308. You'll find that on page 280 of the Blue Book.

  309. Singing from the beginning of that psalm.

  310. After thy loving kindness, Lord,

  311. have mercy upon me,

  312. for thy compassion's great blot out all mine iniquity.

  313. Singing down to verse Mark 7 there.

  314. To thy with hyssop sprinkle me,

  315. I shall be cleansed so.

  316. Yea, wash thy me,

  317. and then I shall be whiter than the snow.

  318. The psalm, part of David's confession of his sin,

  319. as the prophet Nathan came before him.

  320. Let us sing these words to God's praise.

  321. Let us stand and sing.

  322. After thy loving kindness, Lord,

  323. have mercy upon me.

  324. After thy loving kindness, Lord,

  325. have mercy upon me.

  326. For thy compassion's great, Lord,

  327. and the

  328. functions,

  329. for every

  330. owment

  331. and

  332. the

  333. works of

  334. .

  335. The temptations I confess, my sin I ever see.

  336. It will be only a person, in my sight of this hell.

  337. But where thou speak, thou hast be just, and fear in judging still.

  338. The old lion iniquity was born in the womb with him.

  339. My mother also be not thee, in guiltiness and sin.

  340. Call thou with the inward heart, with truth delighted art.

  341. And wisdom thine shall take me home within the hidden heart.

  342. To thy will this soft spring to me, I shall be cleansed so.

  343. Ye wash thou me, and then I shall be whiter than the snow.

  344. I'd like us to turn together to the passage we read in Isaiah.

  345. And give our minds attention in the time that we have to verses 18.

  346. Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord.

  347. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.

  348. Though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

  349. There are often times in our lives when we hear things that we don't like to hear.

  350. We may remember the voice of parents telling us that we shouldn't be doing something,

  351. or we shouldn't be going somewhere.

  352. Or maybe we hear someone speak to us against the plans that we have made in our own heads.

  353. Maybe we've had great plans that we've spent a lot of time figuring out.

  354. Could be anything.

  355. We've had this great objective in our mind.

  356. And we've come to discuss it.

  357. And then someone may contradict what we've got in our head

  358. with maybe words that are wiser than how we thought it to be.

  359. Maybe words that we don't like to hear.

  360. Maybe fundamental flaws have been pointed out in our plans.

  361. It's things, when that happens, it's not easy for us to take it in.

  362. Sometimes we can be stubborn to anyone that gives us wise counsel.

  363. And we carry on regardless.

  364. And other times we just need to admit that they are right

  365. and put our pride in our pocket, pride in our pocket in a sense,

  366. and admit that there was a flaw in our plan.

  367. And really what we have to do is weigh things up.

  368. Is what the person telling me, is he right?

  369. Is it true?

  370. And what the other voice that speaks to me says,

  371. we have to weigh things up?

  372. And the prophets in the Old Testament,

  373. they didn't have an easy task.

  374. It was their job to bring a voice of correction to the people in their time.

  375. And the voice that they brought was the voice of the Almighty God

  376. before nations that were in error.

  377. And it was words that were usually contrary

  378. to what the people wanted to hear.

  379. It was words that they didn't like to listen to

  380. because it opposed their actions,

  381. it opposed their desires that were within their hearts.

  382. It was just something they didn't like.

  383. It is no wonder that God spoke of Israel

  384. as being a stubborn and rebellious people so often

  385. because they aimed to do it their way

  386. and do it the way they thought was best.

  387. And yet God comes to them

  388. trying to redirect this stubborn people

  389. back to himself

  390. that they may be corrected

  391. and they may not fall

  392. by the wayside

  393. into error

  394. and do damage to themselves.

  395. This correction of God

  396. the direction of God

  397. the voice of God

  398. by whatever means

  399. it would come to them

  400. and by whatever means it comes to us

  401. should demand our attention.

  402. It should arrest our attention

  403. when we read the word of God

  404. because it is a voice that speaks to us.

  405. It is a guiding voice

  406. that shows us

  407. the way in which we should go

  408. the way in which we should live.

  409. but it is a fatherly voice

  410. as we pray unto our Father

  411. the words that the Father speaks to us.

  412. It's a loving, tender voice

  413. and although it is made in love

  414. sometimes it is things

  415. that are hard to hear.

  416. Sometimes it's things

  417. that are not favourable

  418. to our mind.

  419. And continuing as we have done

  420. in the last few weeks

  421. we were looking at some

  422. Bible similes

  423. we were in Psalm 133 last week.

  424. We look at this verse here

  425. where it describes

  426. the sin of Israel

  427. as scarlet and crimson

  428. doubly crimson

  429. but one that shall make them

  430. and turn them

  431. white as snow

  432. and just like wool.

  433. But as we look at this word

  434. that Isaiah brought

  435. to the people

  436. it is a truthful statement

  437. about their case.

  438. It is truthful

  439. about who they are

  440. before God

  441. but it also gives them

  442. it does not leave them

  443. it gives them

  444. the greatest hope

  445. that God can give them.

  446. The greatest hope

  447. that they could hear.

  448. And so this verse is

  449. to us tonight

  450. maybe something

  451. we don't like to hear

  452. something we don't like

  453. to focus on

  454. when it clearly states

  455. not the

  456. well

  457. it states

  458. it states

  459. it states

  460. the condition

  461. of our nation

  462. in one sense

  463. but it states

  464. the condition

  465. of our hearts

  466. in another sense.

  467. As we come

  468. and draw near

  469. to a holy God

  470. it's not comfortable

  471. for us

  472. to hear these things

  473. but at the same time

  474. we are presented

  475. with the greatest hope

  476. that man could ever hear

  477. and that we

  478. could ever hear.

  479. And it is a point

  480. where we marvel

  481. at the love

  482. that the Father

  483. has to us

  484. and how gracious

  485. God is.

  486. So firstly

  487. we need to set

  488. the scene

  489. in a sense

  490. to gather

  491. what Isaiah

  492. is saying

  493. to the people.

  494. What does Isaiah

  495. say in the context

  496. of this

  497. well known verse?

  498. Firstly

  499. when you look

  500. at the whole chapter

  501. and the initial words

  502. of this chapter

  503. it's not easy listening

  504. and what it does

  505. is point out

  506. the condemnation

  507. of God

  508. to the people.

  509. Asking them

  510. why God

  511. sees them

  512. as so stained.

  513. So that's

  514. our first point.

  515. The condemnation

  516. that God

  517. presents to them.

  518. And yet God

  519. well he's not

  520. all condemning

  521. as some people

  522. like to perceive

  523. him to be.

  524. Because God

  525. calls out

  526. to the people

  527. as he did

  528. then he does

  529. today.

  530. God calls.

  531. That's our second point.

  532. God.

  533. And not only

  534. is he a God

  535. that calls

  536. he is a God

  537. that saves.

  538. He is the one

  539. that washes away

  540. the stains

  541. and the sins

  542. that we have

  543. within our lives

  544. that the nation

  545. has.

  546. He is a God

  547. that cleanses us.

  548. So the condemnation

  549. of God

  550. the calling

  551. of God

  552. and the cleansed

  553. of God

  554. in this chapter.

  555. So let's look

  556. at the condemnation

  557. that is set

  558. before us

  559. in Isaiah's day.

  560. Isaiah was a prophet

  561. to the people

  562. of Jerusalem

  563. and the people

  564. of Israel.

  565. He prophesied

  566. to the southern

  567. kingdom

  568. known as Judah.

  569. And we must

  570. remember firstly

  571. that the words

  572. that Isaiah brings

  573. is truth.

  574. They're words

  575. from God.

  576. They're not words

  577. of his own device.

  578. God is saying

  579. to the people

  580. and he wants

  581. the people

  582. to know

  583. this is how

  584. you are

  585. before me.

  586. This is how

  587. I see you.

  588. God wants

  589. them to see

  590. their sin.

  591. They need

  592. to see

  593. their sin.

  594. God is warning

  595. the people

  596. in Judah

  597. about their

  598. position

  599. when they face

  600. divine justice

  601. of God.

  602. What is it

  603. that leaves him?

  604. doubly stained

  605. in scarlet

  606. and crimson.

  607. Well,

  608. we're presented

  609. with a great

  610. number of facts

  611. through Isaiah's

  612. words.

  613. You can look

  614. back and turn

  615. and see

  616. verse 2.

  617. He speaks

  618. of children

  619. that I have

  620. reared up,

  621. reared and

  622. brought up,

  623. but they have

  624. rebelled

  625. against me.

  626. The children

  627. that have turned

  628. their back

  629. on God.

  630. And then

  631. he goes on

  632. to speak

  633. of the ox

  634. in verse 3,

  635. who knows

  636. its owner.

  637. The donkey

  638. knows its

  639. master's crib,

  640. but Israel

  641. does not

  642. know.

  643. My people

  644. do not

  645. understand.

  646. It's as if

  647. he's saying

  648. that the animals

  649. have more sense

  650. than the people.

  651. The animals

  652. know where

  653. they shall

  654. receive care,

  655. goodness,

  656. nourishment,

  657. and yet

  658. the people

  659. of Israel

  660. aren't so

  661. wise.

  662. They're

  663. abandoning

  664. these things.

  665. They're

  666. walking away

  667. from this

  668. loving,

  669. fatherly

  670. figure who

  671. will provide

  672. for them

  673. in every

  674. way.

  675. Israel,

  676. a rebellion

  677. against God.

  678. They don't

  679. understand.

  680. My people

  681. do not

  682. understand,

  683. he says.

  684. In verse 4,

  685. it continues,

  686. the sinfulness

  687. of the

  688. nation,

  689. laden

  690. with

  691. iniquity,

  692. offspring

  693. of evil

  694. doers

  695. who deal

  696. corruptly.

  697. They have

  698. despised

  699. God,

  700. and what

  701. does it

  702. say at

  703. the end

  704. of verse

  705. 4?

  706. They are

  707. utterly

  708. estranged.

  709. They're

  710. cut off

  711. in a sense.

  712. But God

  713. has not

  714. cut them

  715. off.

  716. It's

  717. their own

  718. doing.

  719. They have

  720. rejected

  721. God.

  722. They've

  723. rejected the

  724. fatherly

  725. figure that

  726. cares for

  727. them.

  728. They've

  729. rebelled

  730. against me.

  731. They've

  732. walked

  733. away.

  734. And then

  735. we see

  736. in verse

  737. 5,

  738. this is

  739. referred to

  740. a body.

  741. This nation

  742. is referred

  743. to a

  744. body.

  745. Isaiah

  746. says,

  747. they're

  748. like being

  749. sick.

  750. The whole

  751. head is

  752. sick.

  753. The whole

  754. heart is

  755. faint from

  756. the soul

  757. of the

  758. foot even

  759. to the

  760. head.

  761. The whole

  762. being,

  763. of Israel

  764. has this

  765. sickness

  766. in it.

  767. And we

  768. see there's

  769. no strength

  770. to oppose

  771. the nations.

  772. There's no

  773. balm for

  774. their wounds.

  775. They're

  776. struggling on.

  777. It sounds

  778. like they're

  779. killing

  780. themselves

  781. because

  782. they're

  783. living as

  784. they want

  785. to live.

  786. And the

  787. nation that

  788. lives as

  789. it wishes,

  790. that reasons

  791. without God,

  792. that stubbornly

  793. strives on

  794. in their

  795. own way,

  796. will

  797. essentially

  798. slowly

  799. kill itself.

  800. There'll

  801. be no

  802. nourishment,

  803. there'll

  804. be no

  805. balm for

  806. them.

  807. But all

  808. the while,

  809. those people

  810. maintain some

  811. outward profession

  812. of worship.

  813. They maintain

  814. the traditions

  815. of their

  816. fathers in

  817. offering

  818. sacrifice,

  819. and coming

  820. to God

  821. and worship.

  822. You can

  823. see in

  824. verse 11

  825. that they

  826. bring a

  827. multitude of

  828. sacrifices,

  829. but God's

  830. had enough

  831. of the

  832. burnt

  833. offerings.

  834. He does

  835. not delight

  836. in what

  837. he brings

  838. to them.

  839. Trampling

  840. of my

  841. court,

  842. he speaks.

  843. Bring

  844. no more

  845. vain offerings.

  846. It is an

  847. abomination

  848. to me.

  849. They keep

  850. their new

  851. moon and

  852. Sabbath,

  853. they keep

  854. the festivals,

  855. they uphold

  856. these things.

  857. but they're

  858. burdensome to

  859. God now.

  860. Such so

  861. that he

  862. does not

  863. hear the

  864. prayers of

  865. the people.

  866. Now,

  867. you look

  868. at this

  869. people that

  870. is spoken

  871. about here,

  872. and you

  873. think,

  874. they don't

  875. understand.

  876. What are

  877. they doing?

  878. They're

  879. rebelling

  880. against God

  881. in every

  882. way.

  883. What would

  884. you do

  885. with them?

  886. If they

  887. reject someone

  888. that rejects

  889. you,

  890. someone that

  891. goes against

  892. you in

  893. every way,

  894. we are

  895. inclined to

  896. leave them.

  897. We are

  898. inclined just

  899. to forget

  900. about them,

  901. to abandon

  902. someone that

  903. treats us

  904. like that.

  905. We're inclined

  906. to exert

  907. their anger

  908. in return

  909. to the way

  910. that they've

  911. treated us.

  912. when we

  913. think of

  914. the

  915. condemnation

  916. of God,

  917. God does

  918. not condemn

  919. as we

  920. do.

  921. God,

  922. in the

  923. first

  924. instance,

  925. is not

  926. harsh,

  927. wanting to

  928. crush us,

  929. exercising his

  930. power over

  931. us,

  932. abandon us,

  933. reject us.

  934. God is not

  935. like us,

  936. thankfully.

  937. God's

  938. condemnation

  939. is truth

  940. to the

  941. people.

  942. He's

  943. stating the

  944. truth of

  945. the facts

  946. that leave

  947. them condemned

  948. before God.

  949. a selfish

  950. condemnation

  951. that they

  952. have brought

  953. upon

  954. themselves

  955. because

  956. they

  957. have

  958. walked

  959. away.

  960. In a

  961. sense,

  962. it's a

  963. merciful word.

  964. Although it's

  965. condemning,

  966. it's got

  967. mercy strung

  968. through it

  969. because he

  970. wants the

  971. people to

  972. see that

  973. they are

  974. guilty in

  975. every way.

  976. I want

  977. you to

  978. know that

  979. you are

  980. sinful.

  981. And I

  982. want you

  983. to turn

  984. from that

  985. soon.

  986. We

  987. may

  988. recall

  989. instances

  990. in our

  991. lives where

  992. we've done

  993. something wrong.

  994. Throughout

  995. the day,

  996. we come

  997. in the

  998. night time,

  999. we're lying

  1000. in bed,

  1001. and then

  1002. the penny

  1003. drops,

  1004. and we

  1005. say,

  1006. oh no,

  1007. I did

  1008. that wrong

  1009. today.

  1010. I should

  1011. not have

  1012. done that

  1013. to that

  1014. person.

  1015. I should

  1016. have not

  1017. done that

  1018. act.

  1019. I've done

  1020. it wrong.

  1021. It's only

  1022. afterwards you

  1023. realize,

  1024. and you

  1025. think,

  1026. well what am

  1027. I going to

  1028. do to set

  1029. it straight?

  1030. because I

  1031. cannot leave

  1032. it like

  1033. that.

  1034. I've made

  1035. an error.

  1036. And you

  1037. may be

  1038. going round

  1039. and round

  1040. your head

  1041. wondering what

  1042. to do.

  1043. what have

  1044. I done?

  1045. You may

  1046. worry for

  1047. your job,

  1048. you may

  1049. worry for

  1050. your

  1051. friendships,

  1052. whatever it

  1053. is.

  1054. It may

  1055. cause

  1056. anxieties

  1057. within your

  1058. heart for

  1059. the thing

  1060. that you

  1061. have done,

  1062. and you

  1063. know you

  1064. have been

  1065. wrong.

  1066. And we

  1067. get worried

  1068. about these

  1069. things in

  1070. our lives,

  1071. but is it

  1072. not a

  1073. question we

  1074. need to

  1075. ask

  1076. ourselves,

  1077. do we

  1078. worry about

  1079. eternal

  1080. things like

  1081. that before

  1082. God?

  1083. It seems

  1084. to me like

  1085. we are

  1086. people that

  1087. are so

  1088. complacent

  1089. about

  1090. eternity

  1091. and the

  1092. truthfulness

  1093. of ourselves

  1094. before God.

  1095. We seem

  1096. to be so

  1097. complacent

  1098. with it.

  1099. The sins

  1100. of our

  1101. own lives

  1102. that leave

  1103. that scarlet

  1104. mark,

  1105. a mark

  1106. that is

  1107. irremovable

  1108. in many

  1109. ways,

  1110. that crimson

  1111. blemish

  1112. that stains

  1113. and ruins

  1114. our garments,

  1115. sins that

  1116. catch our

  1117. eye,

  1118. and it is a

  1119. sin in the

  1120. sight of God,

  1121. and it is

  1122. a sin that

  1123. God cannot

  1124. pass by.

  1125. God sees

  1126. that sin.

  1127. He cannot

  1128. miss it.

  1129. He cannot

  1130. forget about

  1131. it.

  1132. It needs

  1133. to be dealt

  1134. with.

  1135. And we

  1136. know we've

  1137. all seen

  1138. the images

  1139. on telly

  1140. of red

  1141. wine

  1142. stained in a

  1143. white garment

  1144. or a white

  1145. cloth,

  1146. and to prove

  1147. the cleaning

  1148. product,

  1149. they show it

  1150. as pure

  1151. white after

  1152. it's been

  1153. washed.

  1154. We need

  1155. to be

  1156. washed

  1157. from the

  1158. sin that

  1159. stains

  1160. our hearts.

  1161. We are

  1162. inclined to

  1163. cover up

  1164. the sins

  1165. before people,

  1166. but we

  1167. cannot hide

  1168. our sins

  1169. from God.

  1170. The stain

  1171. remains.

  1172. In a sense,

  1173. it tarnishes

  1174. the garments

  1175. that we wear.

  1176. It tarnishes

  1177. our lives

  1178. before God.

  1179. And our

  1180. garments are

  1181. so stained

  1182. that, well,

  1183. they may as

  1184. well be all

  1185. red, in a

  1186. sense.

  1187. And as it

  1188. was God's

  1189. desire that

  1190. Israel would

  1191. see their

  1192. sin, so

  1193. it is God's

  1194. desire that

  1195. we see the

  1196. sin in our

  1197. lives.

  1198. And the

  1199. means by

  1200. which we

  1201. are often

  1202. condemned

  1203. when we

  1204. read his

  1205. word, and

  1206. it states

  1207. the truthfulness

  1208. of our

  1209. heart, the

  1210. errors of

  1211. our ways, it

  1212. opposes the

  1213. desires and

  1214. the plans that

  1215. we make, some

  1216. things that we

  1217. don't like to

  1218. hear.

  1219. Sometimes we

  1220. stubbornly

  1221. oppose it in

  1222. our own

  1223. folly.

  1224. How does

  1225. God see you

  1226. tonight?

  1227. And although

  1228. we are sinners,

  1229. and we are

  1230. full of

  1231. sin and our

  1232. garments are

  1233. so stained,

  1234. God does

  1235. not call the

  1236. righteous, but

  1237. sinners to

  1238. repentance.

  1239. Though we

  1240. state before

  1241. God we are

  1242. condemned, we

  1243. are called.

  1244. We are called

  1245. by God.

  1246. That is our

  1247. next point.

  1248. As we said,

  1249. the condemnation

  1250. is a part of

  1251. his calling.

  1252. It is a

  1253. merciful element

  1254. of his nature,

  1255. that we should

  1256. know and that

  1257. it should be

  1258. real to us.

  1259. And you see

  1260. the calling

  1261. through the

  1262. chapter here.

  1263. In verse 2,

  1264. there is a

  1265. hear.

  1266. He calls the

  1267. people to

  1268. hear.

  1269. In verse 5,

  1270. he questions

  1271. the people.

  1272. Why do you

  1273. continue to

  1274. rebel?

  1275. Why will you

  1276. be struck

  1277. down?

  1278. The call of

  1279. hear comes

  1280. again in

  1281. verse 10,

  1282. to hear his

  1283. word.

  1284. And then

  1285. in verse

  1286. 18, he

  1287. tells the

  1288. people to

  1289. come now.

  1290. Hear my

  1291. voice.

  1292. Give

  1293. consideration to

  1294. your ways.

  1295. Come and

  1296. speak with

  1297. me.

  1298. Let us

  1299. reason together.

  1300. After all

  1301. his proceeding

  1302. words to

  1303. Judah, after

  1304. all he's

  1305. condemned

  1306. them of and

  1307. shown them

  1308. the guiltiness

  1309. of their

  1310. lives, God

  1311. still says

  1312. come.

  1313. come and

  1314. speak with

  1315. me.

  1316. Come and

  1317. reason with

  1318. God.

  1319. Or come and

  1320. dispute with

  1321. him.

  1322. And really

  1323. what it

  1324. means is to

  1325. weigh up.

  1326. Weigh up

  1327. God's words

  1328. with him.

  1329. Weigh up

  1330. how God

  1331. sees you

  1332. in your

  1333. life.

  1334. Ask God

  1335. is it

  1336. true.

  1337. If this

  1338. is the

  1339. case, if

  1340. you know

  1341. you've done

  1342. wrong,

  1343. why are we

  1344. so complacent

  1345. about eternal

  1346. things?

  1347. Why do

  1348. we not

  1349. seek to

  1350. set ourselves

  1351. straight before

  1352. God and

  1353. correct the

  1354. error of

  1355. our ways?

  1356. Our ideas

  1357. and our

  1358. ways lead

  1359. us in a

  1360. totally

  1361. different

  1362. direction

  1363. before the

  1364. truthful reason

  1365. of God.

  1366. God.

  1367. And then

  1368. when you

  1369. come to

  1370. see that

  1371. God still

  1372. calls Israel

  1373. after their

  1374. actions and

  1375. after their

  1376. sinful,

  1377. rebellious

  1378. ways,

  1379. you think,

  1380. well, is

  1381. God an

  1382. angry God?

  1383. No.

  1384. Anger

  1385. would not

  1386. call the

  1387. people to

  1388. come.

  1389. Anger

  1390. would not

  1391. plead that

  1392. they would

  1393. understand their

  1394. foolishness and

  1395. their ways.

  1396. grace.

  1397. It's grace

  1398. because God

  1399. is a

  1400. gracious

  1401. God.

  1402. Grace from

  1403. a loving

  1404. Heavenly

  1405. Father that

  1406. we hear

  1407. His words.

1408. we hear his words tonight

  1409. saying

  1410. yes sinful child

  1411. look at your garments

1412. and see what you're wearing

  1413. they are stained

  1414. by your sin

1415. but I have grace for you

1416. I call you to come

  1417. to me

1418. a call that is extended

1419. to every one of us tonight

  1420. who hears his word

  1421. as it is proclaimed

  1422. and preached

  1423. maybe you are one

1424. that has been reared on this word

  1425. as Israel was reared

  1426. by God

  1427. and have walked away

1428. and have turned your back

  1429. from following

1430. the guidance of this father

  1431. maybe you're one

1432. who has dealt corruptly in your life

1433. and you know that you shouldn't have

  1434. maybe you're someone

1435. that doesn't care for this word

  1436. care for this word

1437. care to hear God's word

  1438. maybe you've despised

  1439. Christ

  1440. maybe our worship

1441. has fallen into an empty routine

  1442. maybe we find ourselves

  1443. backslidden

  1444. what does God say

  1445. to those

  1446. who are so sinful

  1447. come

1448. hear what I have to say to you

1449. come and reason with me

  1450. come and understand

  1451. what you are

  1452. before my sight

1453. now as we look at ourselves

  1454. without this

  1455. gracious

  1456. lovingly heavenly father

  1457. presented before us

1458. we look at the sinfulness

  1459. of our garments

  1460. the stains

  1461. that are upon it

  1462. we think

  1463. well my sins

  1464. have surely provoked

  1465. an anger

  1466. as we understand

1467. as we would treat people

  1468. that God would never

  1469. set salvation

  1470. before me

1471. that God would be someone

1472. who would not value me

1473. because of what I am

1474. because of what I have done

1475. but that is not true

  1476. that is of course

  1477. what the devil

  1478. wants you to think

  1479. God is gracious

  1480. and loving

  1481. and he provides

  1482. the means of grace

  1483. to know his grace

  1484. and to receive

  1485. his grace

1486. he wants you to call

  1487. to him

  1488. he wants you to

  1489. weigh up your case

  1490. with him

  1491. and speak to him

  1492. pray to him

1493. pray with a truthful heart

  1494. the truthful state

  1495. of yourself

  1496. before God

  1497. and that God

  1498. would work within you

  1499. a hatred

  1500. of sin

  1501. driving you

  1502. to repentance

  1503. to turn away

  1504. from these things

  1505. and the ways

  1506. in which you lived

  1507. your life

1508. because now you see it

  1509. that you have made

  1510. a mistake

  1511. you see the error

  1512. of your ways

1513. you see what you are

  1514. before God

1515. and you need to turn

  1516. God

  1517. did not abandon Israel

  1518. God did not

  1519. reject Israel

  1520. nor will he you

  1521. yes he acknowledges

  1522. the state

  1523. of your sin

1524. as we need to do

  1525. before God

  1526. and you know

  1527. what the amazing

  1528. thing is

  1529. that as we

  1530. come before him

  1531. with a hatred

  1532. of the things

  1533. that we have done

  1534. and the things

  1535. that grieve

  1536. our hearts

  1537. and our souls

  1538. we only see

  1539. half of it

  1540. in a sense

  1541. the garments

  1542. that we wear

  1543. we see the sins

  1544. upon the front

  1545. but we don't

  1546. see the sins

  1547. on the back

  1548. God sees

  1549. the entirety

  1550. of the stains

  1551. on your garment

  1552. the blemishes

  1553. in your life

  1554. and still

  1555. he calls you

  1556. to come

  1557. he calls you

  1558. to weigh up

  1559. your life

  1560. before him

  1561. it's amazing

  1562. this fatherly

  1563. figure

  1564. that loves

  1565. the one

  1566. who has walked

  1567. away

  1568. come

  1569. now

  1570. and reason

  1571. with me

  1572. not tomorrow

  1573. come now

  1574. and you see

  1575. the faults

  1576. of your life

  1577. he will take

  1578. these sins

  1579. and he will

  1580. cleanse them

  1581. from you

  1582. and those

  1583. who come

  1584. knowing

  1585. and acknowledging

  1586. and seeing

  1587. the sins

  1588. of their lives

  1589. coming

  1590. in reason

  1591. with God

  1592. and saying

  1593. yes

  1594. I have

  1595. turned my

  1596. back on you

  1597. and I have

  1598. made a mess

  1599. of the way

  1600. I have lived

  1601. my life

  1602. he provides

  1603. a means

  1604. of washing

  1605. you clean

  1606. he provides

  1607. a meaning

  1608. in which

  1609. there will be

  1610. no more

  1611. condemnation

  1612. for those

  1613. who believe

  1614. in Jesus

  1615. Christ

  1616. to believe

  1617. in Jesus

  1618. Christ

  1619. will wash

  1620. that condemnation

  1621. away

  1622. and wash

  1623. the sins

  1624. of your

  1625. garment

  1626. away

  1627. as you

  1628. turn in

  1629. new obedience

  1630. to him

  1631. how are we

  1632. made clean

  1633. how are we

  1634. cleansed

  1635. through

  1636. the blood

  1637. of the lamb

  1638. as we read

  1639. of in

  1640. revelation

  1641. through that

  1642. sacrifice

  1643. that takes

  1644. away the

  1645. sin of the

  1646. world

  1647. the sins

  1648. of my

  1649. heart

  1650. let us

  1651. move to

  1652. the next

  1653. point

  1654. of the

  1655. cleansed

  1656. of God

  1657. very briefly

  1658. you'll notice

  1659. there that

  1660. God

  1661. calls them

  1662. to wash

  1663. themselves

  1664. in verse

  1665. 16

  1666. wash

  1667. themselves

  1668. make

  1669. yourselves

  1670. clean

  1671. remove

  1672. the evil

  1673. of your

  1674. deeds

  1675. from before

  1676. my eyes

  1677. salvation

  1678. is all

  1679. of God

  1680. the means

  1681. of being

  1682. cleansed

  1683. is all

  1684. of God

  1685. but he

  1686. asks of

  1687. us

  1688. to learn

  1689. to do

  1690. good

  1691. to seek

  1692. justice

  1693. to correct

  1694. corruption

  1695. that we

  1696. do not

  1697. continue

  1698. living the

  1699. lives

  1700. that he

  1701. has

  1702. condemned

  1703. and even

  1704. as a

  1705. Christian

  1706. confession

  1707. it is a

  1708. continuing

  1709. confession

  1710. and repentance

  1711. of the

  1712. sins

  1713. that we

  1714. gather

  1715. daily

  1716. that we

  1717. come before

  1718. him

  1719. while we

  1720. are within

  1721. the kingdom

  1722. of grace

  1723. knowing of

  1724. the daily

  1725. benefits as

  1726. he washes

  1727. and cleanses

  1728. us in the

  1729. blood of the

  1730. lamb

  1731. and the

  1732. sacrifice that

  1733. was offered

  1734. for soon

  1735. and though

  1736. we are

  1737. called to

  1738. come

  1739. there is

  1740. nothing that

  1741. we can do

  1742. to actually

  1743. cleanse us

  1744. the power

  1745. and effectiveness

  1746. of the

  1747. cleansing

  1748. is in

  1749. Christ

  1750. it is

  1751. entirely

  1752. in Christ

  1753. the ones

  1754. that were

  1755. clothed in

  1756. white as

  1757. John saw

  1758. in the

  1759. kingdom of

  1760. glory

  1761. where those

  1762. who brought

  1763. their robes

  1764. the ones

  1765. who washed

  1766. their robes

  1767. in the

  1768. blood of

  1769. the lamb

  1770. were

  1771. cleansed

  1772. it's almost

  1773. as if they

  1774. had that

  1775. conscious effort

  1776. to come

  1777. to that

  1778. cleaning

  1779. that cleansing

  1780. solution

  1781. for soon

  1782. where there

  1783. was no

  1784. other solution

  1785. to cleanse

  1786. their garments

  1787. and you

  1788. know what

  1789. we're speaking

  1790. of here

  1791. tonight

  1792. it is

  1793. the whole

  1794. cleansing

  1795. process

  1796. of sin

  1797. that we

  1798. see

  1799. ourselves

  1800. before God

  1801. that we

  1802. turn

  1803. from the

  1804. filth

  1805. that sticks

  1806. to our

  1807. garments

  1808. the sin

  1809. in our

  1810. lives

  1811. before God

  1812. we need

  1813. to

  1814. see

  1815. what we

  1816. are before

  1817. God

  1818. it's part

  1819. of the

  1820. process

  1821. that we

  1822. hear

  1823. his call

  1824. as it

  1825. is extended

  1826. to you

  1827. tonight

  1828. that you

  1829. come

  1830. and come

  1831. now

  1832. confessing

  1833. who we

  1834. are

  1835. and reasoning

  1836. with God

  1837. that he

  1838. is the

  1839. one

  1840. that will

  1841. in return

  1842. cleanse

  1843. us

  1844. to be

  1845. cleansed

  1846. we must

  1847. confess

  1848. of our

  1849. sins

  1850. the

  1851. solution

  1852. comes

  1853. from the

  1854. cross

  1855. at Calvary

  1856. the son

  1857. of God

  1858. that died

  1859. for you

  1860. as we

  1861. said

  1862. God

  1863. cannot

  1864. just

  1865. pass

  1866. over

  1867. the

  1868. stains

  1869. and

  1870. blemishes

  1871. of your

  1872. life

  1873. they need

  1874. to be

  1875. paid for

  1876. they need

  1877. to be

  1878. cleansed

  1879. and it

  1880. is in the

  1881. blood of

  1882. Christ

  1883. that all

  1884. this is

  1885. cleansed

  1886. the son of

  1887. God is the

  1888. lamb

  1889. that was

  1890. sacrificed

  1891. to satisfy

  1892. justice

  1893. the blood

  1894. of Christ

  1895. has the

  1896. power

  1897. to wash

  1898. away

  1899. our

  1900. sins

  1901. if you

  1902. come with

  1903. your garments

  1904. stained

  1905. and you

  1906. pray to

  1907. God

  1908. and you

  1909. reason

  1910. with him

  1911. the

  1912. truthfulness

  1913. of your

  1914. life

  1915. there's

  1916. an assurance

  1917. there

  1918. even in

  1919. this passage

  1920. oh your

  1921. sins are

  1922. like scarlet

  1923. and yes

  1924. they are

  1925. they are

  1926. if you

  1927. come and

  1928. reason

  1929. with me

  1930. they shall

  1931. be washed

  1932. away

  1933. they shall

  1934. be white

  1935. as snow

  1936. it's not

  1937. maybes

  1938. or buts

  1939. about it

  1940. they shall

  1941. be washed

  1942. away

  1943. the question

  1944. that we

  1945. have to

  1946. ask ourselves

  1947. is how

  1948. do we

  1949. react

  1950. to this

  1951. word

  1952. how did

  1953. Israel react

  1954. to the

  1955. word of

  1956. Isaiah

  1957. and the

  1958. words that

  1959. he spoke

  1960. to them

  1961. as they

  1962. saw the

  1963. truth of

  1964. their lives

  1965. before God

  1966. how do we

  1967. react to

  1968. the word

  1969. of God

  1970. when it

  1971. speaks that

  1972. of us

  1973. has been

  1974. sinners

  1975. that are

  1976. likewise

  1977. stained

  1978. that we

  1979. are condemned

  1980. before God

  1981. without

  1982. Christ

  1983. and yet he

  1984. is one

  1985. that is

  1986. calling to

  1987. you

  1988. how are

  1989. we reacting

  1990. to the

  1991. call

  1992. of Christ

  1993. you suppose

  1994. that there

  1995. would be a

  1996. man standing

  1997. at the end

  1998. of the road

  1999. as he went

  2000. down and

  2001. left the

  2002. church tonight

  2003. and he'd

  2004. be calling

  2005. your name

  2006. what would

  2007. you do

  2008. would you

  2009. walk the

  2010. other way

  2011. and if it

  2012. was a call

  2013. that was

  2014. made in

  2015. love

  2016. and a

  2017. fatherly love

  2018. to you

  2019. calling

  2021. are you

  2022. going to

  2026. are you

  2027. going to

  2028. walk away

  2029. from that

  2031. or are you

  2032. going to

  2033. draw near

  2034. to him

  2035. are you

  2036. going to

  2037. weigh up

  2038. your case

  2039. with him

  2040. are you

  2041. going to

  2042. pray to

  2043. him

  2044. are you

  2070. it is the

  2071. word of

  2072. the Lord

  2073. that has

  2074. spoken

  2075. will you

  2076. continue in

  2077. stubbornness

  2078. as a time

  2079. to put your

  2080. pride in

  2081. our pocket

  2082. and turn

  2083. to God

  2084. and say

  2085. yes I

  2086. have done

  2087. wrong

  2088. I have

  2089. sinned

  2090. before you

  2091. and take

  2092. the things

  2093. of eternity

  2095. and though

  2096. we are

  2097. condemned

  2098. the gracious

  2100. father

  2101. calls you

  2102. calls you

  2103. to come

  2104. tonight

  2105. to him

  2106. why

  2107. so that

  2108. he may

  2109. cleanse

  2110. you

  2111. and that

  2112. he may

  2113. wash

  2114. your

  2115. garments

  2116. white

  2117. as snow

  2118. that they

  2119. would become

  2120. like wool

  2121. that they

  2122. would be

  2123. pure

  2124. and white

  2125. and it

  2126. speaks

  2127. and echoes

  2128. of glory

  2129. of glory

  2130. where Christ

  2131. was spoken

  2132. of

  2133. and appearing

  2141. on his

  2142. head

  2143. white

  2144. like wool

  2145. like snow

  2146. the transfigured

  2147. Christ

  2148. appeared

  2149. white

  2150. as light

  2151. the one

  2152. who believes

  2153. in Christ

  2154. shall be

  2155. like him

  2156. and received

  2157. into glory

  2171. blessed to

  2172. us

  2173. we'll

  2174. conclude

  2175. our

  2176. time of

  2177. worship

  2178. by singing

  2179. in Psalm 103

  2180. again

  2195. the psalm

  2196. that speaks

  2197. of God's

  2198. goodness

  2199. and love

  2200. towards

  2201. his people

  2202. we'll sing

  2203. there from

  2204. verse

  2205. marked

  2206. 8

  2207. down to

  2208. verse

  2209. marked

  2210. 12

  2211. the

  2212. Lord

  2213. our

  2214. God

  2215. is

  2216. merciful

  2217. and

  2218. he

  2219. is

  2220. gracious

  2221. long

  2222. suffering

  2223. and slow

  2224. to wrath

  2225. and mercy

  2226. plenteous

  2227. he will

  2228. not chide

  2229. continually

  2230. nor keep

  2231. his anger

  2232. still

  2233. with us

  2234. he dealt

  2235. not as we

  2236. sinned

  2237. nor did

  2238. requite

  2239. at all

  2240. for us

  2241. the heaven

  2242. in its

  2243. height

  2244. the earth

  2245. surmount

  2246. far

  2247. so great

  2248. to those

  2249. that do

  2250. him fear

  2251. his tender

  2252. mercy

  2253. are

  2254. as far

  2255. as east

  2256. is distant

  2257. from the

  2258. west

  2259. so far

  2260. he hath

  2261. from us

  2262. removed

  2263. in his

  2264. love

  2265. all our

  2266. iniquities

  2267. the God

  2268. that

  2269. loves his

  2270. people

  2271. and calls

  2272. them to

  2273. come to him

  2274. and parts

  2275. from them

  2276. their sins

  2277. let us stand

  2278. and sing

  2279. together

  2280. the Lord

  2281. our God

  2282. is merciful

  2283. and he

  2284. is gracious

  2285. the Lord

  2286. our God

  2287. is merciful

  2288. and he

  2289. is gracious

  2290. thanks

  2291. always

2292. With us he dealt, nor does we sin, nor did we quite a hell.

2293. For us the heaven in its high, the earth surmounted by.

2294. So great to those that do in fear, his tender mercy's eye.

2295. As far as he's desistened from the west, so far and here.

2296. From the stream who did his love, all our iniquity.

  2297. The word of prayer.

2298. Our heavenly Father, we pray that we may see ourselves before you.

2299. The Holy One, a creator of all things.

2300. That we may turn from our ways.

2301. And that you, as we confess our sins to you.

2302. You will part these sins as far as the east is from the west.

2303. Removing all the iniquity of our lives.

2304. And cleansing us in the blood of Jesus Christ.

2305. The one that died for us on the cross at Calvary.

2306. A payment that we should stand for and take.

2307. But yet out of his love and grace.

2308. The loving heavenly Father that loves such a stubborn and rebellious and stiff-necked people.

2309. He comes to us and calls us.

2310. That we may be cleansed.

2311. What a love he extends to us.

2312. May we continue in that love.

2313. And may it continue to amaze us.

2314. Be with us as we part.

2315. And return to our homes we pray.

  2316. Watch over us.

2317. Guide us and keep us in your safety.

2318. We ask these things in Jesus name.

  2319. Amen.
