  2. It's on page 123.

  3. The Lord is King, is throne in jewels, majestic in his height.

  4. The Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength and might.

  5. The world is founded, firm and sure, removed it cannot be.

  6. Your throne is strong and you are God from all eternity.

  7. The seas, O Lord, have lifted up, they lifted up their voice.

  8. The seas have lifted up their waves and made a mighty noise.

  9. The Lord enthroned on high is strong.

  10. More powerful is he than thunder of the ocean waves or breakers of the sea.

  11. Your royal statutes, Lord, stand firm and changing is your word.

  12. And holiness adorns your house for endless days, O Lord.

  13. Psalm 93, the whole Psalm, the Lord is King.

  14. The Lord is King, is throne in jewels, majestic in his height.

  15. The Lord is King, is throne in majesty and arm with strength and might.

  23. The earth is Jeans in majesty and arm with strength and arm with strength and arm WITH strength and arm with strength and arm with strength and arm with strength and arm's vigor.

  24. Take out their voice.

  25. The seas have lifted up their wings

  26. and made a mighty noise.

  27. The heart and throat are high,

  28. is strong, more powerful is thee

  29. than thunder on.

  30. The oceans wait,

  31. are ravers of the sea.

  32. Pure for the statutes,

  33. heart and firm,

  34. and changing into word,

  35. and holiness adores your hands,

  36. for endless chains, O Lord.

  37. Let us bow in prayer.

  38. O Lord, we give thanks tonight that you are the God who are enthroned on high,

  39. majestic, glorious, sovereign in your power.

  40. We pray for the faith that will see this,

  41. because without faith it is impossible to know it,

  42. to believe it, to accept it.

  43. But we give thanks, Lord, that where there is faith, that faith grows, that faith is enabled to strengthen,

  44. and to delve into deeper things, and come to a greater persuasion and knowledge of your truth.

  45. And we pray, O Lord, that we may praise you with all our heart, and that we may seek to exalt your name in praise,

  46. exalt your name in our mind and in our hearts, in our lives.

  47. We pray that even as we gather here together, that we may realize that we are in the presence of the King,

  48. the one who is all-glorious, enthroned in glory and majesty,

  49. who is worshipped eternally by the hosts of heaven,

  50. and by the church here on earth.

  51. We long for the day when we will all be together, encircled around that throne,

  52. being led by the shepherd who is shepherding us even now,

  53. but will shepherd us throughout an endless eternity.

  54. And we pray, O Lord, that you will grant us grace as we wait upon you,

  55. so that we will hear what God the Lord will speak,

  56. that you will open our ears to hear, our hearts to understand,

  57. our minds to lay hold upon the truth.

  58. Keep away distracting thoughts,

  59. because we know that we are more prone to wander in God's house than probably anywhere else.

  60. Because so often when we come here, we don't come alone,

  61. because the enemy of our soul will seek to distract us,

  62. and take us away from the truth.

  63. Take us away from this word, which makes us wise unto salvation,

  64. because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  65. And so, Lord, we pray for receptive hearts,

  66. hearts that are willing to be changed and transformed by the power of your own spirit.

  67. And we pray that we may seek to become more Christ-like,

  68. and forgive us, Lord, for when we don't.

  69. Forgive us, Lord, when our actions betray the very confession that we make,

  70. and where our speech betrays that confession as well.

  71. O Lord, help us then to resemble Jesus more and more,

  72. as your spirit works in us, conforming us more to the image of Christ.

  73. We pray then that you will help us all as we wait upon you tonight.

  74. And we ask that you will bless us.

  75. It's a wonderful privilege to be blessed by God,

  76. an enriching experience.

  77. And we pray that we will be able to say, because we have been with God,

  78. that it's been good for us to be here.

  79. We pray for all who gather as we do tonight, up and down our land,

  80. and indeed throughout the nations of this world.

  81. And we realize with the different time zones,

  82. that there is almost an encircling praise of God taking place throughout the whole world.

  83. And we give thanks for that, for your people are many,

  84. although we are often led to believe they are few.

  85. We're given that picture in the book of Revelation,

  86. of that great multitude that no one can number.

  87. And so we give thanks, Lord, that you are taking in and gathering your church throughout all nations.

  88. We pray then that you will help us and bless us.

  89. We pray your blessing on the youth fellowship tonight.

  90. We give thanks for our young people.

  91. We pray, Lord, that you'll watch over them in the age that they grow up in,

  92. an age where there are so many issues and difficulties ahead of them,

  93. and where there are pressures that we as older people don't realize or understand.

  94. And ask, Lord, that you will be with them.

  95. Grant them grace and guidance,

  96. and that the teaching that they have when they're young may be embedded in their heart.

  97. For your word tells us, train up a child in the way that he'll go.

  98. And when he's old, he will not depart from it.

  99. And so we pray, Lord, to give thanks for the teachings that we've had.

  100. And we pray that we might be ready to pass on what we have learned

  101. and what we have known to those who are younger.

  102. And so we pray your blessing upon our young people here in the congregation.

  103. And we give thanks, Lord, for all the work that is done amongst them.

  104. Remember, as we say, the fellowship tonight.

  105. Remember the Sunday school and the creche and the twinnies.

  106. Remember the youth club and remember all the explorers and all the different work that goes on with our young.

  107. Lord, our God, we remember those who have gone away to university and colleges and places of learning

  108. and to different maybe apprenticeships, different things away from home,

  109. some for the first time adjusting to a new way of life.

  110. Lord, we commit them to your care and keeping.

  111. We give thanks for families.

  112. Lord, we know that for some people, families, while bringing the greatest joy, for some they are nourishing great sorrow.

  113. We pray for all those who know what it is like to have lost a member of their family.

  114. And we realize that it is one of the most painful things in this world,

  115. because we always expect that the younger will be the ones who will lay to rest the older.

  116. But sometimes, sadly, it's the reverse.

  117. And so we pray for all such tonight who grieve in a special way.

  118. And we pray, Lord, that you will draw close to them and undertake for them and do them good.

  119. We pray, Lord, to bless the congregation just now at a time of vacancy.

  120. Pray, Lord, in light of the vacancy committee and the meeting on Tuesday,

  121. that your wisdom and direction will be given and that throughout time it will become evident and clear in the way in which we're to go.

  122. We pray your blessing upon Colin, who's intermoderated, and ask your blessing to be upon him and his leadership.

  123. We give thanks for him.

  124. We pray for Colin Murdo and we pray your blessing upon him with the extra responsibilities that he has.

  125. And we give thanks for bringing him here, Lord.

  126. We pray for Joanne and the family.

  127. We pray for Joanie and Marissa and Danny.

  128. We pray, Lord, that you'll bless them as a time of a needed break comes up and that you will bring back safe and sound afterwards, refreshed.

  129. Lord our God, we pray to bless us nationally and internationally, particularly in light of the way that nationally we tend to be turning away from you more and more.

  130. And where our leaders are set upon so often forgetting what you have to say and thinking only of what they have to say.

  131. Oh, Lord, we pray to influence advisors to our politicians as well as the politicians themselves.

  132. We pray, Lord, that heavenly wisdom will be given even when they don't ask for it.

  133. But we pray, Lord, that we may see our duties.

  134. We're told to pray for those in authority over us.

  135. It is incumbent upon us.

  136. And so we pray that we may be constantly doing so.

  137. And help us, Lord, have a boldness in prayer and a faith in our prayer, a faith in prayer, that faith centered in you.

  138. We pray then that you will bless us.

  139. We pray as we saw there where Tesco are considering opening on the Lord's Day.

  140. And we realize that that would have a huge impact upon our community.

  141. And we are aware first and foremost upon your day and what it brings to us, the day of rest that you have given to us for our bodies, our minds, but particularly our souls.

  142. It would have far-reaching consequences.

  143. And we pray, Lord, that they may reconsider this decision that they're making or about to make.

  144. We pray, oh, Lord, that you will guide your people throughout this land and all the different places of occupation that you've placed them in, that there will be an influence for good there.

  145. We pray for your church worldwide.

  146. We pray for the persecuted church, particularly in lands of oppression, lands of darkness, lands where there is no gospel freedom.

  147. Oh, Lord, deliver the persecuted even tonight.

  148. Turn the persecutors into your followers in the same way as you turned Saul of Tarshish to become a great missionary.

  149. You are the unchanging God.

  150. We pray that you will guide us as we wait upon you.

  151. And we pray that you will forgive us all our sin.

  152. We confess our sin before you again, acknowledging that in so many different ways we let you down and we let ourselves down.

  153. And so we ask that you will forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  154. Be with those who are going through difficult times in this particular time of their life, where their own world has been turned upside down.

  155. Whether these troubles are physical or mental or whether they're social or family or financial or in whatever area, Lord, where there is a storm in their life.

  156. We ask, Lord, that you will intervene and that you will calm the storm and that you will help them and that you will bless them.

  157. Watch over us, then, Lord, as we wait upon you.

  158. Cleanse us from our every sin.

  159. In Jesus' name we ask it.

  160. Amen.

  161. I'm going to sing again from Psalm 46 in the Scottish Psalter.

  162. Psalm 46 in the Scottish Psalter, 1 to 7.

  163. It's on page 271.

  164. God is our refuge and our strength and streets of present aid.

  165. Therefore, although the earth remove, we will not be afraid.

  166. Though hills amidst the seas be cast, though waters roaring make.

  167. And troubled be, yea, though the hills by swelling cease to shake.

  168. A river is whose streams do glad the city of our God, the holy place wherein the Lord Most High hath his abode.

  169. God in the midst of her doth dwell.

  170. Nothing shall her remove.

  171. The Lord to her unhelper will, and that right early prove.

  172. To the end of verse 7, Psalm 46, 1 to 7.

  173. God is our refuge and our strength.

  174. It mandates a blessed shining peace, people ofabad.

  175. Of the light earth follow yippee who doesn't belong peace.

  176. That made us, people of God, indeed woogue, the blood behind us and cannot жив that provinusið,

  177. God has them as we many ast misleading as paths are not estarful as any of our solidMIN.

  178. The heavy chamber shed

  179. His grace of present day

  180. Let one of all the earth remove

  181. We will not be afraid

  182. Though hills are mixed

  183. The seas becast

  184. Though waters owing gray

  185. And travel deep

  186. In all the hills

  187. High spreading seas to shame

  188. I've been the hills to streams to climb

  189. The saving of the God

  190. The holy place

  191. With the Lord

  192. Who's time hath it's a home

  193. How in the midst of heart of death

  194. Nothing shall I remove

  195. The Lord to her

  196. And ever will

  197. And love my journey through

  198. The heath

  199. Even which should not just be

  200. The kingdom's do it where

  201. The Lord

  202. God of heaven

  203. There in his voice

  204. The heath

  205. He hath it

  206. For fear

  207. The Lord

  208. Our host

  209. Upon our side

  210. That constantly remain

  211. The God of Jacob's

  212. Our refuge

  213. Has safely to maintain

  214. Let us turn now to read God's word

  215. In the gospel of Mark chapter 4

    Mark 4 chapter mention

  216. Mark chapter 4

    Mark 4 chapter mention

  217. And we pick up a reading at verse 21

  218. Mark 4

    Mark 4:21

  219. Verse 21

  220. And he

  221. That's Jesus

  222. Said to them

  223. Is a lamp brought in

  224. To be put under a basket

  225. Or under a bed

  226. And not on a stand

  227. For nothing is hidden

  228. Except to be made manifest

  229. Nor is anything secret

  230. Except to come to light

  231. If anyone has ears to hear

  232. Let him hear

  233. And he said to them

  234. Pay attention

  235. To what you hear

  236. With the measure

  237. You use it

  238. It will be measured to you

  239. And still more

  240. Will be added to you

  241. For to the one who has

  242. More will be given

  243. And from the one who has not

  244. Even what he has

  245. Will be taken away

  246. And he said

  247. The kingdom of God

  248. Is as a man

  249. Should scatter seed

  250. In the ground

  251. He sleeps

  252. And rises night and day

  253. And the seed sprouts

  254. And grows

  255. He knows not how

  256. The earth produces

  257. By itself

  258. First the blade

  259. Then the ear

  260. Then the full grain

  261. In the ear

  262. But when the grain

  263. Is ripe

  264. At once he puts in

  265. The sickle

  266. Because the harvest

  267. Has come

  268. And he said

  269. With what can we compare

  270. The kingdom of God

  271. Or what parable

  272. Shall we use for it

  273. It is like a grain

  274. Of mustard seed

  275. Which when

  276. Sown on the ground

  277. Is the smallest

  278. Of all the seeds

  279. On earth

  280. Yet when it is sown

  281. It grows up

  282. And becomes larger

  283. Than all the garden plants

  284. And puts out

  285. Large branches

  286. So that the birds

  287. Of the air

  288. Can make nests

  289. In its shade

  290. With many such parables

  291. He spoke the word

  292. To them

  293. As they were able

  294. To hear it

  295. He did not speak

  296. To them

  297. Without a parable

  298. But privately

  299. To his own disciples

  300. He explained everything

  301. On that day

  302. When evening had come

  303. He said to them

  304. Let us go across

  305. To the other side

  306. And leaving the crowd

  307. They took him with them

  308. In the boat

  309. Just as he was

  310. And other boats

  311. Were with him

  312. And a great windstorm

  313. Arose

  314. And the waves

  315. Were breaking

  316. Into the boat

  317. So that the boat

  318. Was already filling

  319. But he was in the stern

  320. Asleep in the cushion

  321. And they woke him

  322. And said to him

  323. Teacher

  324. Do you not care

  325. That we are perishing

  326. And he awoke

  327. And rebuked the wind

  328. And said to the sea

  329. Peace

  330. Be still

  331. And the wind ceased

  332. And there was a great calm

  333. And he said to them

  334. Why are you so afraid?

  335. Have you still

  336. No faith?

  337. And they were filled

  338. With great fear

  339. And said to one another

  340. Who then is this

  341. That even the wind

  342. And sea

  343. Obeying?

  344. Amen

  345. And may God bless to us

  346. This reading of his holy word

  347. I'm going to sing again

  348. Sing psalm

  349. Psalm number 77

  350. From verse 13

  351. To the end of the psalm

  352. Psalm 77

  353. From verse 13

  354. And sing psalms

  355. It's on page 100

  356. O God

  357. Most holy are your ways

  358. What God compares with you

  359. You are the God of miracles

  360. Whose power the nations view

  361. You have redeemed your people Lord

  362. With your almighty arm

  363. Jacob and Joseph's children

  364. You delivered from all harm

  365. The water saw you

  366. O my God

  367. They saw and writhed in pain

  368. The very depths became convulsed

  369. The clouds poured down the rain

  370. The thunder rolled across the skies

  371. As lightning bolts were hurled

  372. Your thunder in the wind was heard

  373. Your lightning lit the world

  374. The whole earth trembled then and quaked

  375. Your path was through the sea

  376. Your way through mighty waters led

  377. Your footprints none could see

  378. Your people like a flock of sheep

  379. You guided every day

  380. By Moses and by Aaron's hand

  381. You led them on the way

  382. Verses 13 to the end

  383. Psalm 77

  384. O God most holy are your ways

  385. Of the comfishing years

  386. You are the God of miracles

  387. Whose power the nations view

  388. You have redeemed your people Lord

  389. And their reign

  390. The thunder rolled across the skies

  391. As lightning bolts were hurled

  392. Your thunder in the wind was heard

  393. Your lightning lit the world

  394. The thunder tremble men and wings

  395. Your path was through the sea

  396. Your way through mighty waters led

  397. Your footprints and blue sea

  398. Your thusly

  399. Char erste came and mos M pour城

  400. Amen.

  401. Let's turn again to the chapter we read in Mark chapter 4 and from verse 35, a very well-known section of God's word.

    Mark 4 chapter mention

  402. Verse 35, on that day when evening had come, he said to them, let us go across to the other side.

  403. And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat just as he was.

  404. And other boats were with them and a great windstorm arose and the waves were breaking into the boat.

  405. So the boat was already filling.

  406. But he was in the stern asleep in the cushion.

  407. And they woke and said to him, teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?

  408. And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, peace be still.

  409. And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

  410. And he said to them, why are you so afraid?

  411. Have you still no faith?

  412. And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, who then is this that even the wind and the sea obey him?

  413. As you can see, these were busy days for Jesus.

  414. He was constantly teaching and preaching and he did so with great authority.

  415. We're told elsewhere that his teaching was not like the scribes or the Pharisees, that he taught as one with authority.

  416. And so there was this constant teaching.

  417. And of course, also along with the teaching, there was a lot of healing.

  418. So in the evening, he leaves the crowd beside and he says, we're going to go to the other side.

  419. And he, along with the disciples, set off across the Sea of Galilee.

  420. It doesn't tell us what the weather was like when they left.

  421. But it tells us what happened as they were on their way across, that there came this great windstorm, a great windstorm arose.

  422. So it would look like it was just a normal, calm evening when they left.

  423. But then the weather changed dramatically on the way over.

  424. And I'm sure we've all been at sea one time or another when it's been wild.

  425. And we know what it's like with the howling of the wind, it's whistling, the waves are surging and the boat is rocking backwards and forwards and side to side.

  426. And nobody likes being out in a storm, but I'm sure we would all prefer being on land during a storm.

  427. At least it's firm ground underneath rather than being out on sea.

  428. But anyway, here is, it's a ferocious night.

  429. And it's so bad that the disciples are beginning to become fearful and frightened that the boat is going to end up sinking.

  430. Because it tells us that the waves were coming into the boat and the boat was beginning to fill up.

  431. And we've got to remember that the disciples, by and large, at least a good number of them, they weren't inexperienced in the waters.

  432. They were seasoned sailors.

  433. They were fishermen by trade.

  434. And in fact, the likes of Peter and his brother Andrew and James and John, they were fishermen who had fished these waters day in, day out until they left their nets to follow Jesus.

  435. So if anybody knew these waters, like the back of their hand, it was these disciples.

  436. And yet they're terrified, they're petrified.

  437. And they feel that their end is coming.

  438. And in desperation, we find that they go to find Jesus.

  439. And we find Jesus.

  440. It's very interesting.

  441. We find him in verse 38.

  442. It tells us that he was in the stern asleep on the cushion.

  443. On the cushion.

  444. And just a couple of observations along the way.

  445. And the first thing we notice here, where we find Jesus asleep here, is pointing to the humanity of Jesus.

  446. Jesus is the Son of God.

  447. God of very God.

  448. Equal in power and glory to the Father.

  449. And yet in order to become one for us and one with us, he had to take human nature.

  450. Come into this world and be one with us.

  451. And by taking human nature, he took our nature apart from sin.

  452. And so we find that all the infirmity of our humanness was part of Jesus' life.

  453. He experienced hunger and thirst and pain, physical pain, mental pain, emotional pain.

  454. Everything that we experience apart from sin.

  455. He experienced temptation.

  456. Everything.

  457. But as God, we know that God neither slumbers nor sleeps.

  458. So it's here we see the humanity of Jesus.

  459. And we know that Jesus had spent the days teaching and healing.

  460. And you and I know that if we're very, very busy, and particularly if you're giving of yourself constantly,

  461. that you become exhausted.

  462. You become tired.

  463. And so we find that Jesus is displaying the exhaustion of humanity by simply falling asleep.

  464. And he's sleeping in the storm at the stern of the boat.

  465. And we've got to remember that this Jesus that we see here is the same Jesus tonight.

  466. He hasn't changed.

  467. And he understands all our weaknesses because he has journeyed this world in our nature.

  468. In fact, he still, he has risen in our nature and continues in our nature forever.

  469. But he understands our weaknesses, our pains, our sorrows, our temptations.

  470. And that means that we must go to Jesus.

  471. Jesus, you and I know, if you go through some pain or sorrow in life, some difficulty,

  472. you want to be, it's always easier to share your experience with somebody

  473. who's gone through a similar experience to yours.

  474. Because you know that they'll understand exactly what you're saying.

  475. Because you can share your experience with someone who might be very sympathetic

  476. and very understanding by nature,

  477. but they cannot follow your experience because they've never been there.

  478. But when you meet somebody who can identify totally,

  479. it's helpful, isn't it?

  480. Well, that's the thing about Jesus.

  481. That's why it's so important to go to him.

  482. Because he understands in a way and in a measure that nobody else can or nobody else is able to.

  483. And so it's important that we make our way to Jesus.

  484. And again, the other thing we see about Jesus asleep in the boat

  485. is that he is completely trusting in his heavenly father.

  486. Because in our nature, Jesus lived in absolute dependence upon the father,

  487. filled with the spirit.

  488. He wasn't exercising, as it were, his divine nature in this world.

  489. Yes, he's divine, but he was also human.

  490. And he was exercising, he was living as a human,

  491. but his life was lived in absolute dependence and trust in his father.

  492. That's why he was sleeping like a baby.

  493. Jesus knew that he was going to die, but not in a boating tragedy.

  494. He knew his time hadn't come.

  495. He had a lot of work yet to do for the father.

  496. And so he's resting completely trusting in his heavenly father.

  497. And it's interesting here because it's very obvious that the disciples weren't trusting in Jesus.

  498. Jesus is trusting in his father, but they're not trusting in him.

  499. Because what did Jesus say at the very beginning of the thing?

  500. He said,

  501. That's the word of Jesus.

  502. We're going over to the other side.

  503. Now, if they had faith in Jesus,

  504. and they were trusting in Jesus in the storm,

  505. they would have said,

  506. We're going to come through this,

  507. because the Lord has given his word that we're going to the other side.

  508. And you and I know that it's often when we're given a promise from the Lord

  509. that we're tested in that very thing.

  510. Well, they were being tested,

  511. and they fell badly.

  512. No wonder Jesus said to them at the end,

  513. Why are you so afraid?

  514. Have you still no faith?

  515. Because they were not trusting in Jesus.

  516. And so they come to Jesus,

  517. and they say to him,

  518. Teacher, do you not care that we're perishing?

  519. We're doomed.

  520. It's more or less,

  521. Next wave could be our last.

  522. You know, it's very interesting again,

  523. just by way of observation here.

  524. Here are the disciples,

  525. and they're terrified, they're afraid.

  526. And Jesus is asleep,

  527. but Jesus is going to care for them and provide for them,

  528. and still the storm.

  529. There was a day when almost,

  530. it's not that the roles were reversed,

  531. but when Jesus was facing his washed time on this world,

  532. you go to the garden of Gethsemane,

  533. and he took three disciples,

  534. three that were here,

  535. Peter, James, and John with him,

  536. and he told them,

  537. my soul is now troubled.

  538. And on the floor of Gethsemane Garden,

  539. he sweated,

  540. as it were,

  541. drops of blood.

  542. He was in such agony of soul.

  543. But before he left the three disciples

  544. to go on to his own,

  545. what did he say to them?

  546. You stay here.

  547. Watch and pray.

  548. Jesus sent them,

  549. left them there to pray.

  550. When he came back,

  551. how did he find them?

  552. They were all sound asleep.

  553. And there's almost an irony in what we see here.

  554. That these very disciples who are

  555. wakening up Jesus from his sleep

  556. are the very disciples

  557. who were sound asleep

  558. when he needed them most

  559. to be with them and praying.

  560. But before we come to

  561. see Christ's reaction to the storm,

  562. I think it's important to say that

  563. although Jesus has taken the disciples on board

  564. and they're crossing over to the other side,

  565. a storm,

  566. we mustn't assume

  567. because Christ is on board

  568. that there will be no storm.

  569. And that's true in our journey

  570. through this life.

  571. There are some people who think

  572. that the moment you become a Christian,

  573. that's it.

  574. Life is,

  575. life's easy now.

  576. Life's a bed of roses.

  577. That's the end of troubles,

  578. trials.

  579. And in fact,

  580. it's one of the things

  581. that Jesus tells us

  582. assuredly

  583. that

  584. us Christians

  585. that we will have troubles,

  586. we will have trials.

  587. In this world,

  588. he says,

  589. you will have tribulation,

  590. but be of good cheer.

  591. I have overcome the world.

  592. The troubles that afflict the just

  593. in number

  594. many be,

  595. but yet at length

  596. out of them all,

  597. the Lord

  598. does set him free.

  599. Out of them all.

  600. And so we see that

  601. Jesus here

  602. on board

  603. doesn't mean

  604. that there will

  605. be no storm.

  606. You see,

  607. we can't avoid

  608. troubles

  609. and storms

  610. in life

  611. because we live,

  612. as we know,

  613. in a world

  614. that is filled

  615. with difficult troubles

  616. and difficult traumas.

  617. And maybe tonight

  618. for you,

  619. maybe some of you

  620. are going through

  621. your own

  622. personal storms.

  623. Maybe,

  624. you know,

  625. sometimes

  626. we're very bad

  627. at looking at

  628. other people's lives

  629. and saying to ourselves,

  630. oh, you know,

  631. they've got a

  632. trouble-free life.

  633. We don't know.

  634. The very person

  635. that you think

  636. might have a

  637. trouble-free life

  638. might be a person

  639. who has many,

  640. many issues

  641. and troubles

  642. and traumas

  643. and personal sorrows

  644. that you and I

  645. don't know about.

  646. So we've got to be

  647. very careful

  648. in making our

  649. assessments and

  650. judgments

  651. about other people.

  652. But tonight,

  653. if you are here

  654. and you're going

  655. through your troubles

  656. and you're going

  657. through storms

  658. in your own life,

  659. remember that

  660. Jesus

  661. is

  662. the one

  663. who cares.

  664. because

  665. here

  666. it appears

  667. as if

  668. Jesus

  669. isn't bothering.

  670. It appears

  671. at this moment

  672. as if,

  673. well,

  674. Jesus is asleep.

  675. That's the criticism

  676. that the disciples

  677. have of him.

  678. You're asleep.

  679. You're sleeping.

  680. Here we are

  681. facing death.

  682. Next moment

  683. could be the last.

  684. What are you doing

  685. about it?

  686. You're sleeping.

  687. And there's

  688. almost a kind of a,

  689. there's a criticism

  690. in their attack

  691. on Jesus

  692. when they said,

  693. Master,

  694. do you not care?

  695. You know,

  696. that's probably

  697. one of the most

  698. harsh statements

  699. that could ever be

  700. said about Jesus.

  701. Do you not care?

  702. Why was Jesus

  703. in the boat?

  704. Why did Jesus

  705. come into this world?

  706. Because he cared.

  707. If Jesus didn't care,

  708. he wouldn't have come

  709. to this world.

  710. There would be no gospel.

  711. We wouldn't be meeting

  712. here tonight.

  713. There wouldn't be

  714. any hope for us.

  715. We'd have been

  716. left to our shelves.

  717. But it's because

  718. God the Father cared.

  719. It's because

  720. God the Son cared.

  721. That's why Jesus

  722. came into this world.

  723. So you can see

  724. how wrong

  725. the disciples were

  726. to say to Jesus,

  727. Do you not,

  728. do you care?

  729. Of course he cared.

  730. And I can say

  731. the same thing

  732. to you tonight

  733. because maybe

  734. you're saying the same.

  735. Does Jesus care?

  736. Has Jesus forgotten

  737. to be gracious?

  738. You know,

  739. sometimes we say that.

  740. As the Lord,

  741. that's what it tells us

  742. in the Psalm.

  743. Psalm has said that.

  744. Has God forgotten

  745. to be gracious?

  746. It's as if God

  747. has forgotten

  748. all about me.

  749. Of course he hasn't.

  750. Can't.

  751. And sometimes

  752. we've got to remember

  753. that the Lord

  754. has a reason

  755. for his silence.

  756. He has a reason

  757. at times

  758. for his delays.

  759. We can't understand them.

  760. But he has a purpose

  761. in all these things.

  762. But we also see

  763. that having

  764. the Lord on board

  765. will bring

  766. a wonderful deliverance.

  767. And just as he proved

  768. for the disciples,

  769. he will for you as well.

  770. Now it doesn't tell us

  771. that Jesus said anything

  772. immediately

  773. to the disciples,

  774. although maybe

  775. some of the other

  776. Gospels writers

  777. have a different slant

  778. on it.

  779. But he spoke words.

  780. He rebuked

  781. the wind.

  782. So he addressed

  783. the wind and the sea.

  784. He rebuked the wind

  785. and said to the sea,

  786. Peace,

  787. be still.

  788. I would love to have been there

  789. at that moment.

  790. You and I know

  791. what it's like

  792. on a boat.

  793. And as you say,

  794. the wind is howling.

  795. You go out

  796. on the deck

  797. and there's a whistle

  798. and there's a roar.

  799. Jesus rebukes that.

  800. And there's just

  801. nothing but a silence.

  802. And you know

  803. what it's like

  804. the surge of the sea.

  805. The sea is angry

  806. and it's

  807. heaving

  808. and surging.

  809. And Jesus said,

  810. Peace,

  811. be still.

  812. And it turns

  813. into like a mill pond.

  814. The disciples,

  815. if you were

  816. to look at them,

  817. they would have been

  818. standing there

  819. open-mouthed.

  820. Absolutely.

  821. We use the expression

  822. gobsmacked.

  823. They would have been

  824. just stunned.

  825. So would you.

  826. So would I.

  827. Because you and I

  828. know that

  829. a storm

  830. doesn't go to

  831. zero knots

  832. in a second.

  833. And even when

  834. the wind stops,

  835. you and I know

  836. that the sea

  837. doesn't go flat

  838. calm immediately.

  839. You go,

  840. if there's been

  841. a north wind

  842. out there

  843. and you go

  844. on the ferry

  845. the next day,

  846. even although

  847. there's no wind,

  848. there's still

  849. a roll

  850. in the sea.

  851. You see,

  852. the sea takes

  853. a long time

  854. to calm down.

  855. It's impossible

  856. for the sea

  857. to immediately,

  858. the wind drops

  859. just to go flat

  860. calm.

  861. But that's exactly

  862. what happened

  863. at that moment.

  864. And Jesus

  865. is showing here

  866. his own lordship,

  867. his power.

  868. He is the one

  869. we're going to sing

  870. Psalm 107

  871. at the end.

  872. He is the one

  873. who turns

  874. the storm

  875. into a calm.

  876. And we've got

  877. to remember

  878. that this surging

  879. sea in its

  880. first place

  881. was made

  882. by the Lord.

  883. He is the one

  884. who is Lord

  885. over all.

  886. The wind

  887. and the sea

  888. are his to command.

  889. We sang in

  890. Psalm 77

  891. and it tells us

  892. there,

  893. when the water

  894. saw you,

  895. O God,

  896. they were afraid.

  897. It says,

  898. the psalmist

  899. is personalizing

  900. the very sea.

  901. And the sea

  902. is,

  903. although we see

  904. the sea,

  905. and long ago

  906. the people

  907. used to be

  908. suspicious

  909. of the sea,

  910. it was looked

  911. upon us

  912. where the evil

  913. would come from.

  914. But God

  915. is the one

  916. who created all.

  917. He's God

  918. over all things.

  919. And in that

  920. Psalm it tells us,

  921. your way

  922. was through

  923. the sea,

  924. your path

  925. through the

  926. great waters,

  927. yet your

  928. footprints

  929. were unseen.

  930. Isn't that

  931. beautiful?

  932. What a

  933. description

  934. that is

  935. of Jesus

  936. on another

  937. occasion

  938. on this

  939. very sea,

  940. walking to

  941. the disciples

  942. in the storm

  943. again.

  944. There's no

  945. sign of his

  946. footprints,

  947. but he

  948. walked across

  949. that sea

  950. as if it

  951. was a

  952. pavement.

  953. You see,

  954. he's Lord

  955. over all.

  956. And we've

  957. always got to

  958. remember that.

  959. And we've

  960. always got to

  961. have an

  962. insight into

  963. who the

  964. Lord is.

  965. Because,

  966. you know,

  967. this is a

  968. funny thing.

  969. See it

  970. at verse

  971. 36.

  972. It tells

  973. us,

  974. And leaving

  975. the crowd,

  976. they took

  977. him with

  978. them in

  979. the boat,

  980. just as

  981. he was.

  982. Just as

  983. he was.

  984. At that

  985. particular

  986. moment,

  987. although the

  988. disciples

  989. believed him

  990. in Jesus

  991. as the

  992. Messiah,

  993. they had

  994. no idea

  995. who he

  996. really was.

  997. He was

  998. just one

  999. of them,

  1000. but still

  1001. they believed

  1002. in him.

  1003. So they

  1004. took him

  1005. just as

  1006. he was.

  1007. At this

  1008. moment,

  1009. when this

  1010. person who

  1011. was just

  1012. as he

  1013. was,

  1014. their whole

  1015. vision of

  1016. who he

  1017. is has

  1018. changed.

  1019. He now

  1020. becomes this

  1021. awesome,

  1022. majestic

  1023. being.

  1024. And they're

  1025. hushed into

  1026. a new type

  1027. of fear in

  1028. his presence.

  1029. And you

  1030. know,

  1031. that's what we

  1032. need to see

  1033. as well.

  1034. We need to

  1035. see this

  1036. Jesus in

  1037. all his

  1038. awe,

  1039. in all his

  1040. power.

  1041. because far

  1042. too often

  1043. the way

  1044. we see

  1045. him is

  1046. just as

  1047. he is,

  1048. just like

  1049. another one

  1050. of us.

  1051. And we

  1052. don't

  1053. reverence him,

  1054. we don't

  1055. have the

  1056. awe,

  1057. we don't

  1058. have the

  1059. fear in

  1060. front of

  1061. him.

  1062. He's

  1063. just one

  1064. of us.

  1065. No,

  1066. he's not.

  1067. Yes,

  1068. he is.

  1069. But thankfully

  1070. he's also

  1071. God.

  1072. And at that

  1073. moment their

  1074. eyes were

  1075. opened to

  1076. behold his

  1077. glory,

  1078. his majesty

  1079. and our

  1080. power in

  1081. a way that

  1082. they had

  1083. never ever

  1084. envisaged

  1085. or seen

  1086. before.

  1087. And so

  1088. we find

  1089. that Jesus

  1090. is the

  1091. one who

  1092. brings peace

  1093. and he

  1094. brings calm

  1095. into the

  1096. troubled

  1097. situation.

  1098. And you

  1099. know the

  1100. Lord continues

  1101. to do

  1102. that.

  1103. And that's

  1104. what if

  1105. you're here

  1106. tonight and

  1107. you've never

  1108. come to

  1109. faith in the

  1110. Lord Jesus

  1111. Christ,

  1112. there's a

  1113. restlessness.

  1114. It may not

  1115. be as bad

  1116. as a storm,

  1117. but there's a

  1118. restlessness in

  1119. your heart.

  1120. That is the

  1121. nature of

  1122. life.

  1123. There is a

  1124. restlessness

  1125. in every

  1126. single heart

  1127. until they

  1128. find rest

  1129. in the

  1130. Lord.

  1131. The Lord

  1132. has made

  1133. us for

  1134. himself.

  1135. And as

  1136. one of the

  1137. old divines

  1138. said,

  1139. and the

  1140. heart will

  1141. be restless

  1142. till it

  1143. finds rest

  1144. in you.

  1145. And the

  1146. greatest

  1147. discovery that

  1148. we can ever

  1149. make is that

  1150. we need

  1151. the Lord.

  1152. And if

  1153. you've never

  1154. seen that,

  1155. ask the

  1156. Lord tonight,

  1157. show me

  1158. Lord,

  1159. show me

  1160. myself and

  1161. show me

  1162. yourself.

  1163. Show me

  1164. my need

  1165. of you.

  1166. Show me

  1167. the importance

  1168. because,

  1169. you see,

  1170. unless the

  1171. Lord does

  1172. that,

  1173. we don't

  1174. see it.

  1175. And so

  1176. the Lord

  1177. will calm

  1178. the storm

  1179. in your

  1180. life.

  1181. Peace,

  1182. be still.

  1183. And you

  1184. know,

  1185. that's what

  1186. the Lord

  1187. continues to

  1188. do because

  1189. he brings

  1190. peace to

  1191. our conscience.

  1192. When you

  1193. become a

  1194. Christian,

  1195. that's one

  1196. of the

  1197. first things

  1198. that happens.

  1199. You get

  1200. peace in

  1201. your conscience.

  1202. When you

  1203. become a

  1204. Christian,

  1205. you come

  1206. by faith

  1207. and by

  1208. way of

  1209. repentance.

  1210. forgiveness,

  1211. asking for

  1212. the Lord's

  1213. pardon and

  1214. forgiveness

  1215. and cleansing.

  1216. And you

  1217. know,

  1218. when you

  1219. receive that,

  1220. it's one

  1221. of the

  1222. most

  1223. liberating

  1224. things that

  1225. can ever

  1226. happen in

  1227. your life,

  1228. to have

  1229. the experience

  1230. of a

  1231. trouble-free

  1232. conscience.

  1233. Our

  1234. consciences

  1235. can be so

  1236. troubling,

  1237. but you

  1238. know,

  1239. when our

  1240. sins are

  1241. pardoned,

  1242. and we

  1243. have a

  1244. sense of

  1245. divine

  1246. cleansing

  1247. and

  1248. forgiveness,

  1249. then our

  1250. conscience

  1251. doesn't

  1252. trouble us

  1253. like the

  1254. way it

  1255. used to.

  1256. And the

  1257. Lord also

  1258. brings peace

  1259. to our

  1260. heart.

  1261. That's what

  1262. he says,

  1263. my peace

  1264. I give

  1265. you,

  1266. not as the

  1267. world gives,

  1268. give I unto

  1269. you.

  1270. You and I

  1271. know that

  1272. the world,

  1273. that there's

  1274. an element

  1275. you can

  1276. have,

  1277. when everything

  1278. is going

  1279. well in

  1280. life,

  1281. and circumstances

  1282. and everything

  1283. is coming

  1284. together,

  1285. you can be

  1286. happy and

  1287. contented,

  1288. and there is

  1289. an element

  1290. of peace,

  1291. that's the

  1292. world's

  1293. peace.

  1294. But it

  1295. doesn't

  1296. last.

  1297. Change the

  1298. circumstances,

  1299. pull the

  1300. plug on

  1301. what's

  1302. happening,

  1303. and the

  1304. peace goes

  1305. with it.

  1306. But Jesus

  1307. says my

  1308. peace is

  1309. different,

  1310. it's not

  1311. as the

  1312. world gives,

  1313. my peace

  1314. is deep

  1315. rooted in

  1316. your heart.

  1317. Your heart

  1318. is made

  1319. for my

  1320. love,

  1321. and when

  1322. my love

  1323. floods your

  1324. heart,

  1325. then my

  1326. peace comes

  1327. in as

  1328. well.

  1329. It's a

  1330. settled

  1331. peace that

  1332. governs,

  1333. yes,

  1334. there might

  1335. be still a

  1336. storm in

  1337. your life,

  1338. the storm

  1339. might not

  1340. go,

  1341. but there's

  1342. a peace

  1343. attached to

  1344. it,

  1345. a peace

  1346. that undergirds

  1347. your life,

  1348. that the

  1349. world is

  1350. incapable of

  1351. giving you.

  1352. You remember

  1353. what it was

  1354. like when you

  1355. became a

  1356. Christian.

  1357. You remember

  1358. that peace?

  1359. A peace

  1360. you never

  1361. had before.

  1362. You might

  1363. have had

  1364. good times,

  1365. happy times,

  1366. contented

  1367. times,

  1368. but you

  1369. never had

  1370. real deep

  1371. rooted peace

  1372. until you

  1373. came to

  1374. peace in

  1375. Christ.

  1376. That was

  1377. different.

  1378. My peace

  1379. I give you.

  1380. Now of

  1381. course we

  1382. know all

  1383. too well

  1384. in this

  1385. world that

  1386. we,

  1387. because of

  1388. the nature

  1389. of this

  1390. world and

  1391. because of

  1392. all the

  1393. trials and

  1394. temptations and

  1395. difficulties that

  1396. we face,

  1397. we still

  1398. often are

  1399. anxious.

  1400. You say to

  1401. yourself,

  1402. surely the

  1403. Christian shouldn't

  1404. be anxious.

  1405. Well,

  1406. if we weren't

  1407. anxious,

  1408. the Lord

  1409. wouldn't be

  1410. over and

  1411. over and

  1412. over again

  1413. in the

  1414. word saying,

  1415. don't be

  1416. anxious,

  1417. don't be

  1418. fearful.

  1419. If we were

  1420. to go through

  1421. tonight and

  1422. to count all

  1423. the number

  1424. of times

  1425. that the

  1426. Lord says,

  1427. fear not,

  1428. be courageous,

  1429. be strong,

  1430. don't be

  1431. anxious.

  1432. But the

  1433. Lord tells

  1434. us that

  1435. basically what

  1436. happens when

  1437. we become

  1438. anxious is

  1439. that we've

  1440. stopped casting

  1441. all our

  1442. cares upon

  1443. the Lord.

  1444. And there's

  1445. a beautiful

  1446. verse, I

  1447. think it's

  1448. in Isaiah

  1449. that says

  1450. something like

  1451. that the

  1452. one whose

  1453. mind great

  1454. peace,

  1455. well it

  1456. says great

  1457. peace of

  1458. those who

  1459. love your

  1460. love.

  1461. But it

  1462. tells us

  1463. that the

  1464. one whose

  1465. mind is

  1466. fixed on

  1467. you, that

  1468. that person

  1469. will have

  1470. continued

  1471. peace,

  1472. perfect

  1473. peace.

  1474. You will

  1475. keep in

  1476. perfect

  1477. peace the

  1478. man or

  1479. woman whose

  1480. mind is

  1481. fixed on

  1482. you.

  1483. Fixed is

  1484. a word,

  1485. fixed,

  1486. fixed on

  1487. the Lord.

  1488. Because when

  1489. we take our

  1490. eyes off the

  1491. Lord and

  1492. we begin to

  1493. look at the

  1494. troubles,

  1495. then of

  1496. course we

  1497. begin to

  1498. rock and

  1499. roll again,

  1500. we begin to

  1501. shake.

  1502. It's like

  1503. Peter walking

  1504. on the

  1505. water, as

  1506. long as he

  1507. was looking

  1508. to Jesus,

  1509. he walked.

  1510. The moment

  1511. he took

  1512. his eyes

  1513. off Jesus

  1514. and began

  1515. to look at

  1516. the storm,

  1517. down he

  1518. went.

  1519. So will

  1520. you, so

  1521. will I.

  1522. But not

  1523. only does the

  1524. Lord bring

  1525. peace to

  1526. our conscience

  1527. and peace

  1528. to our

  1529. heart, he

  1530. also brings

  1531. peace to

  1532. our mind

  1533. as well.

  1534. people.

  1535. And you

  1536. and I

  1537. know that

  1538. in this

  1539. world there

  1540. is so

  1541. much stress,

  1542. so many

  1543. things going

  1544. on in

  1545. people's

  1546. lives.

  1547. And

  1548. underneath,

  1549. and people

  1550. don't recognize

  1551. this or realize

  1552. it, the

  1553. bottom line

  1554. of it all

  1555. is sin.

  1556. It's sin

  1557. at work.

  1558. Because sin

  1559. is always

  1560. affecting your

  1561. thought life.

  1562. And people

  1563. are saying

  1564. they've got all

  1565. kinds of

  1566. questions.

  1567. who is

  1568. God?

  1569. Is there a

  1570. God?

  1571. What's it all

  1572. about?

  1573. Where we're

  1574. going?

  1575. What's the

  1576. point in

  1577. life?

  1578. All the

  1579. time there's

  1580. these kind

  1581. of aimless

  1582. thoughts and

  1583. that brings

  1584. nothing but

  1585. depression and

  1586. anxiety and

  1587. fear.

  1588. Hopelessness.

  1589. These kind of

  1590. questions, that's

  1591. all it brings.

  1592. And this world

  1593. is forever

  1594. changing.

  1595. Thoughts are

  1596. changing.

  1597. Opinions are

  1598. changing.

  1599. Fashions are

  1600. changing.

  1601. You can never

  1602. keep up with

  1603. what's in and

  1604. what's out.

  1605. It's always

  1606. on the move.

  1607. But you know

  1608. when you become

  1609. a Christian,

  1610. new standards

  1611. take over.

  1612. These are not

  1613. the issues that

  1614. concern you.

  1615. It's God's

  1616. word became

  1617. the rule and

  1618. the standard.

  1619. Not the

  1620. fashions and

  1621. the ways and

  1622. the tendencies

  1623. of this world.

  1624. And so the

  1625. Christian has a

  1626. freer mind.

  1627. Our mind isn't

  1628. governed by all

  1629. these 101 things

  1630. that are going

  1631. on, being

  1632. bombarded,

  1633. particularly in

  1634. the day that

  1635. we're living

  1636. in with all

  1637. the power of

  1638. social media and

  1639. all these

  1640. things.

  1641. Here we have

  1642. the calmness of

  1643. mind when our

  1644. mind is fixed

  1645. on Christ.

  1646. And so Jesus

  1647. says to the

  1648. wind, peace be

  1649. still.

  1650. And he says the

  1651. same to you and

  1652. to me as well.

  1653. And that's the

  1654. beauty of when we

  1655. follow the Lord,

  1656. Jesus Christ.

  1657. You and I know

  1658. that when we

  1659. follow the

  1660. Lord, we're

  1661. heading to a

  1662. world of

  1663. eternal peace.

  1664. Never know it

  1665. in this world

  1666. in its fullness.

  1667. We have the

  1668. first fruits of

  1669. it by accepting

  1670. Christ.

  1671. The fullness of

  1672. it belongs in

  1673. the world to

  1674. come.

  1675. When the Lord

  1676. made the world

  1677. at the beginning,

  1678. it was a world

  1679. of peace and

  1680. tranquility and

  1681. calm.

  1682. But we know

  1683. the impact when

  1684. sin entered in

  1685. the fall.

  1686. And you go to

  1687. Eden when it

  1688. is broken.

  1689. Not when it's

  1690. beautiful, but

  1691. when it's broken.

  1692. And all you see

  1693. there is expulsion

  1694. and separation

  1695. and restlessness

  1696. and death.

  1697. That's a world

  1698. you and I live

  1699. in.

  1700. Turn on any

  1701. news bulletin,

  1702. that's all we

  1703. see.

  1704. Brokenness,

  1705. restlessness,

  1706. separation,

  1707. death.

  1708. It's horrific

  1709. off on the

  1710. news and all

  1711. you're seeing

  1712. barbaric

  1713. situations,

  1714. killings,

  1715. stabbings,

  1716. injustice,

  1717. hatred,

  1718. violence.

  1719. Jesus came

  1720. into this

  1721. world because

  1722. he cares.

  1723. Do you

  1724. care?

  1725. The disciples

  1726. said, of

  1727. course I

  1728. care, says

  1729. the Lord.

  1730. That's why

  1731. I'm here

  1732. tonight offering

  1733. myself to

  1734. you.

  1735. And

  1736. remember

  1737. that the

  1738. trials that

  1739. the disciples

  1740. went through

  1741. brought them

  1742. to see a

  1743. greater glimpse

  1744. of the glory

  1745. of the Lord.

  1746. And so it

  1747. will be for

  1748. you.

  1749. You think,

  1750. has the Lord

  1751. forgotten me in

  1752. the trials?

  1753. Do you know

  1754. something?

  1755. You look back

  1756. and you'll say,

  1757. you know,

  1758. that trial

  1759. actually was

  1760. for my benefit.

  1761. I got a

  1762. glimpse of the

  1763. glory of God

  1764. I hadn't seen

  1765. before.

  1766. I was guilty

  1767. of looking on

  1768. Jesus as he

  1769. was,

  1770. rather than

  1771. who he is.

  1772. Now I'm

  1773. seeing him

  1774. for who he

  1775. is.

  1776. Well tonight

  1777. the captain

  1778. of our salvation

  1779. is on the

  1780. deck of the

  1781. ship and

  1782. he's inviting

  1783. us in to

  1784. come on board

  1785. with him.

  1786. He doesn't

  1787. guarantee us a

  1788. passage where

  1789. there won't be

  1790. storms,

  1791. but he guarantees

  1792. us a safe

  1793. passage to the

  1794. end.

  1795. And you know

  1796. what matters?

  1797. The end.

  1798. It's not how it

  1799. is halfway

  1800. through or even

  1801. three quarters of

  1802. the way

  1803. through.

  1804. It's how it

  1805. ends.

  1806. That's what

  1807. matters.

  1808. And when we

  1809. have the Lord

  1810. with us and

  1811. we're on board

  1812. with the Lord,

  1813. it's going to

  1814. end well.

  1815. You make sure

  1816. it's going to

  1817. end well with

  1818. you by having

  1819. Jesus.

  1820. Let us pray.

  1829. Make us receptive

  1830. to them.

  1831. May we have an

  1832. understanding heart.

  1833. May we lay hold

  1834. upon your truth.

  1835. May it go down

  1836. deep into our

  1837. heart and impact

  1838. us for good.

  1839. Pray to take

  1840. every single one

  1841. of us home safely.

  1842. Bless our homes

  1843. and our families.

  1844. Lord we give

  1845. thanks that we

  1846. experience so

  1847. much good from

  1848. you.

  1849. And we know

  1850. that every good

  1851. and perfect gift

  1852. is from above.

  1853. Help us Lord

  1854. always to be

  1855. returning thanks

  1856. to you.

  1857. Grant us your

  1859. pray.

  1860. Bless the

  1861. fellowship that

  1862. we'll meet

  1863. shortly in the

  1864. hall.

  1865. Forgiving us our

  1866. sin in Jesus

  1867. name we ask

  1868. it.

  1869. Amen.

  1870. We're going to

  1871. conclude singing

  1872. in Psalm 107

  1873. from the

  1874. Scottish

  1875. Psalter

  1876. verses 26

  1877. to 30.

  1886. Psalm 107

  1887. They mount to

  1888. heaven then to

  1889. the depths they

  1890. do go down

  1891. again.

  1892. Their soul

  1893. doth faint and

  1894. melt away with

  1895. trouble and with

  1896. pain.

  1897. They reel and

  1898. stagger like one

  1899. drunk at their

  1900. woods end they

  1901. be.

  1902. Then they to

  1903. God in trouble

  1904. cry who them

  1905. from streets

  1906. doth free.

  1907. The storm was

  1908. changed into a

  1909. calm at his

  1910. command and

  1911. will so the

  1912. waves which

  1913. raged before

  1914. now quiet are

  1915. and still.

  1916. Then are they

  1917. glad because

  1918. at rest and

  1919. quiet now they

  1920. be.

  1921. So to the

  1922. haven he then

  1923. brings which

  1924. they desired to

  1925. see.

  1926. 26 to 30
