  1. Let's turn again for a little to the chapter we read in John chapter 11.

    John 11 chapter mention

  2. And we can read that from verse 38 where it says,

  3. Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb.

  4. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

  5. Jesus said, Take away the stone.

  6. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him,

  7. Lord, by this time there will be an odour, for he has been dead four days.

  8. This is probably one of the best-known chapters in the New Testament,

  9. and I'm sure everybody has heard many a sermon on this

  10. because it is so full of instruction, so full of meaning.

  11. It is really quite a remarkable chapter,

  12. and it highlights very much the care and the compassion of Christ,

  13. the authority, the power of Christ.

  14. It highlights his humanness, highlights his godness.

  15. And the chapter is full of instructions for us.

  16. And we see the delay of Christ responding to the news that Lazarus was very ill,

  17. and this was a family that he loves.

  18. And it teaches us that the delays of Christ in answering doesn't mean that he's not hearing us.

  19. You know, sometimes when we pray and it appears that the Lord isn't hearing,

  20. there's no answer to our prayer.

  21. We're liable to think, God's not listening.

  22. God's not hearing.

  23. Well, this chapter shows us very clearly that the Lord was fully aware.

  24. The Lord was responding.

  25. But what we've got to learn is that at the end of the day,

  26. God will always work things for his own glory.

  27. And that's a problem for us because we expect things to,

  28. when we bring a matter before the Lord,

  29. we have worked out in our own mind how we want it to work out.

  30. And the Lord might have a completely different purpose and a different plan

  31. because his plan and his way is for his glory.

  32. And while we very glibly say that we want to live to the glory of God,

  33. doing that actually can be really challenging and really difficult.

  34. And that's where faith has to come into exercise.

  35. Because if we're suitably exercised by faith,

  36. and our faith is fixed constantly upon Christ,

  37. then we will be seeking the glory of God,

  38. and we will understand something of the delays

  39. and something of the cross providences that appear to come our way.

  40. Also, it shows us here that we're not always ready

  41. for the way that the Lord will work

  42. because we find Martha in verse 22 saying,

  43. I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.

  44. So that's Martha saying to Jesus, whatever.

  45. I know, Jesus, whatever you ask.

  46. But the thing is, Martha wasn't ready for the whatever.

  47. Because when Jesus asks them to take away the stone,

  48. Martha's horrified.

  49. And Martha's basically saying, you can't do that.

  50. No, Lord, not that.

  51. And I'm sure we've been there as well.

  52. Because there have been times we've said,

  53. maybe not audibly, but in our hearts,

  54. we're saying, Lord, what are you doing?

  55. Lord, not this.

  56. And that shows us that we're not alone.

  57. Here's this good woman.

  58. And she's saying, I know, whatever.

  59. But when Jesus begins to tell whatever means,

  60. she's saying, no, not that.

  61. And again, we see that the sisters make the same mistake.

  62. Both Mary and Martha believe that if Jesus had been present,

  63. that Lazarus would not have died.

  64. They both think that.

  65. And again, sometimes we make the mistake

  66. when losses and pains and difficulties come into our life,

  67. that it's a sign that the Lord isn't with us.

  68. That is not the case.

  69. The Lord had a purpose in allowing Lazarus to die,

  70. as is very obvious here.

  71. But sometimes we make the mistake of thinking

  72. that the Lord isn't there.

  73. Well, we've always got to remember

  74. that the way that God works is

  75. that he has to try us.

  76. You know what the Lord says of the trial of our faith?

  77. That it's more precious than gold.

  78. Now, we know how precious gold is.

  79. But in the Lord's sight,

  80. the trial of our faith

  81. is of far more importance and more value than gold.

  82. And so it's inevitable,

  83. but the Lord is going to test his people.

  84. It makes it very clear it's a mark, indeed,

  85. of the Christian that they will be tested along the way.

  86. But the thing is, often our eyes of faith are dimmed

  87. and we're not seeing in the way that we should.

  88. And Jesus says in verse 40,

  89. Jesus said,

  90. Did I not tell you if you believe

  91. that you will see the glory of God?

  92. You know, unbelief

  93. is an incredible blight on our Christian life.

  94. Unbelief robs us of seeing so much.

  95. Unbelief is a hindrance to the work of Jesus.

  96. It's not a sense of unworthiness

  97. that holds back the work of Jesus.

  98. It's not a sense of our sin

  99. that holds back the work of Jesus.

  100. It's unbelief.

  101. It tells us in Mark's gospel,

  102. He could do no mighty works there

  103. except lay hands on a few.

  104. And he marveled at their unbelief.

  105. So you see how unbelief hinders

  106. the work of Christ like little else.

  107. And it's a challenging question to ourselves as well.

  108. Is unbelief hindering

  109. and holding back in our life

  110. the work of Jesus?

  111. Because you see,

  112. unbelief clouds our sense

  113. of how the Lord is working.

  114. You could have two Christians

  115. looking at exactly the same situation.

  116. And one Christian could be saying,

  117. Oh, do you know, it's wonderful.

  118. It's wonderful the way the Lord is working.

  119. I'm amazed at what the Lord is doing.

  120. And another Christian beside is saying,

  121. Oh, do you know,

  122. Lord's not with us at all.

  123. Nothing happening today.

  124. Everything is dead.

  125. And the problem is

  126. of what's going on within the person's heart.

  127. One person has a vision to see.

  128. One person has a sensitive heart,

  129. a tender heart,

  130. a spiritual heart,

  131. a heart that is fixed

  132. by faith and the glory of God

  133. and is seeing God at work,

  134. sees God in everything.

  135. And the other person

  136. is hindered and hampered

  137. because of unbelief.

  138. And remember,

  139. unbelief is still there

  140. in the heart of the Christian.

  141. Lord, I believe,

  142. help thou mine unbelief.

  143. And you will find unbelief

  144. very much in the prejudiced heart

  145. and in the hard heart.

  146. And so we need to seek

  147. to have our hearts softened

  148. and our hearts molded by Christ

  149. so that there will be a seeing

  150. all that Jesus is doing.

  151. And again, this chapter brings before us

  152. one of the most remarkable statements

  153. that Jesus ever made,

  154. where he says,

  155. I am the resurrection and the life.

  156. where Jesus is stating

  157. that he is a personal guarantee

  158. that he will win victory

  159. over death and over the grave.

  160. And that because he will win victory

  161. over the death and the grave,

  162. so will all his people.

  163. And you know,

  164. that's a glorious hope.

  165. If you're a believer tonight,

  166. you know something,

  167. you have a wonderful hope in your heart.

  168. Paul likens death to sleep.

  169. So does Jesus.

  170. And when you and I go to bed at night,

  171. two things happen.

  172. One is we have rest.

  173. And another thing is we have renewal.

  174. You get up the next day

  175. and that's you ready for another day.

  176. And in a sense,

  177. that's what happens in the grave as well.

  178. Our bodies are laid in the grave to rest.

  179. Till when?

  180. Till the resurrection.

  181. And at the resurrection,

  182. we find that everything is going to change.

  183. Because the return of Jesus

  184. is going to change things

  185. in a way that we cannot even begin to imagine.

  186. You know, when Jesus returns,

  187. it's going to be so different

  188. to how he came.

  189. At this time of year,

  190. so many are thinking about the birth of Jesus.

  191. When Jesus came into this world,

  192. very, very few recognized him.

  193. as the Messiah,

  194. as the Son of God,

  195. as who he is,

  196. the second person of the Godhead,

  197. come in our nature.

  198. But you know,

  199. the day he returns,

  200. there won't be one solitary soul alive

  201. that will have the slightest doubt,

  202. but that this is the Son of God.

  203. because we're told that when Jesus returns,

  204. it will be the most amazing spectacle.

  205. There'll be dazzling brilliance as he returns.

  206. He'll descend from heaven,

  207. and there'll be three great,

  208. as it were,

  209. phenomenon occurring at the same time.

  210. the Lord will shout.

  211. It also tells us

  212. that there will be the voice of the archangel,

  213. and there will be the sound of the trumpet of God.

  214. Now, we know that

  215. the trumpet was often used

  216. to signal the dawn of the day.

  217. the trumpet is often used

  218. to signal the arrival of royalty.

  219. But here, the trumpet,

  220. yes, it's going to announce

  221. the arrival of royalty,

  222. but it's going to do more than that.

  223. It's announcing the resurrection.

  224. It's announcing the opening of the graves.

  225. The trumpet of God,

  226. with a moment that blows,

  227. the graves will open.

  228. Imagine if we're still alive at that time.

  229. What a thought that would be.

  230. Paul tells us about that in Corinthians.

  231. He says,

  232. In a moment,

  233. in the twinkling of an eye,

  234. at the last trumpet,

  235. for the trumpet will sound,

  236. and the dead will be raised imperishable,

  237. and we shall all be changed.

  238. At that moment,

  239. the graves will open,

  240. and the graves of corruption

  241. will give way to incorruption,

  242. and we will be changed.

  243. Our bodies will be changed

  244. to become beautiful, glorious, spiritual.

  245. We will resemble our saviour,

  246. our mediator,

  247. the Lord Jesus Christ.

  248. We're told that.

  249. It's all a great mystery.

  250. Now, Paul likens it to

  251. planting a seed in the ground.

  252. And he says,

  253. Our body is like that seed.

  254. And when you put that seed into the ground,

  255. whether it's going to be a flower or a plant,

  256. that seed will die.

  257. But from the seed

  258. will grow the plant or the flower.

  259. So in a sense,

  260. the flower or the plant is a seed.

  261. Although the seed has died,

  262. this is what has come from it.

  263. And Paul says,

  264. that's what it's going to be like

  265. for us as well.

  266. The continuation there,

  267. so our body laid into the grave,

  268. the same body will rise

  269. just in the same way

  270. as you have to plant the seed in the ground,

  271. and from it this beautiful flower.

  272. So it will be for the believer.

  273. And it's no wonder

  274. that there's this wonderful hope

  275. within our heart.

  276. Now, this is what,

  277. although Jesus isn't saying all that to Martha

  278. at this particular moment,

  279. that is what it means

  280. when Jesus says

  281. that he is the resurrection and the life.

  282. And I hope tonight

  283. that you have this hope in your heart,

  284. that you have this hope.

  285. If you're a Christian tonight,

  286. you have this hope.

  287. If you're believing in the Lord Jesus Christ,

  288. that's part of what you believe in.

  289. You believe in the resurrection.

  290. Now, as I read on Wednesday night,

  291. there's going to be a resurrection for everybody,

  292. not just for the Christian.

  293. Remember, I read in Daniel,

  294. and it tells us,

  295. they are very, very solemn words.

  296. And many of those who sleep

  297. in the dust of the earth

  298. shall awake.

  299. Some to everlasting life,

  300. and some to shame

  301. and everlasting contempt.

  302. That's how it's going to be.

  303. There's going to be a division

  304. in the resurrection.

  305. Some to everlasting life,

  306. some to everlasting shame

  307. and contempt.

  308. And that's a serious thing

  309. to reject Jesus

  310. because Jesus is the only...

  311. This world has nothing for death.

  312. This world,

  313. there's nobody that can give you

  314. any hope

  315. for what happens in death

  316. apart from Jesus.

  317. And that's why it is so important

  318. that we lay hold upon the truth.

  319. Jesus said,

  320. I am the way,

  321. I'm the truth,

  322. I'm the life.

  323. And it's the most wonderful privilege

  324. that you have tonight

  325. to be sitting

  326. where Jesus is present,

  327. who is the way,

  328. the truth,

  329. and the life.

  330. And he's saying,

  331. ask me.

  332. Ask me to come into your heart.

  333. Receive me.

  334. Because without me,

  335. you do not have this hope

  336. in any shape or form.

  337. So the Christian is able

  338. to look at death and say,

  339. Oh death,

  340. where is your sting?

  341. To look at the grave and say,

  342. Oh grave,

  343. where is your victory?

  344. You'll often see in a tomb

  345. on a gravestone

  346. till the day breaks.

  347. I'm sure if you walk

  348. around a cemetery,

  349. you'll often see that

  350. till the day breaks.

  351. What day?

  352. It's the day,

  353. the resurrection dawn.

  354. That moment when the trumpet

  355. will sound

  356. and the graves will open.

  357. And then we see

  358. in this chapter

  359. Jesus' reaction to death.

  360. And we see,

  361. of course,

  362. that he weeps.

  363. It's a tiny version.

  364. It's a verse that's full

  365. of meaning and significance.

  366. We see that,

  367. that Jesus,

  368. people will say

  369. it's the smallest version

  370. of the Bible

  371. and so it is.

  372. Jesus wept.

  373. And it shows us something

  374. of just who Jesus is.

  375. It shows us his care,

  376. his love,

  377. his concern.

  378. He enters into our,

  379. where we are.

  380. Maybe tonight you have pain

  381. in your heart.

  382. Maybe,

  383. maybe nobody's listening to you.

  384. Well,

  385. Jesus will.

  386. That's the beauty of it.

  387. You might not be able

  388. to tell anybody

  389. how you feel.

  390. There might be things

  391. going on in your life

  392. nobody else knows about.

  393. You might be able

  394. to hide it from others.

  395. Your face doesn't display it,

  396. but my word,

  397. it's going on deep in there.

  398. Jesus is able.

  399. Jesus is the one.

  400. He is the shoulder

  401. to cry on.

  402. He is the one

  403. who is there

  404. and we're to go to him

  405. and to bring

  406. all our cares,

  407. our anxieties,

  408. our burdens,

  409. our pains,

  410. our sorrows

  411. because he understands.

  412. He's been there.

  413. But he is also able

  414. to help us

  415. in a way that

  416. no human

  417. is able to help.

  418. But there's more

  419. to the fact

  420. that Jesus wept

  421. because it tells us

  422. in verse 33

  423. when Jesus saw

  424. our weeping

  425. and the Jews also

  426. had come with our weeping,

  427. it tells us

  428. he was deeply moved

  429. in his spirit.

  430. And then again

  431. in verse 38

  432. it tells us

  433. that he was deeply

  434. moved.

  435. And that word

  436. actually translated

  437. means

  438. really there's

  439. an outburst

  440. of indignation

  441. or anger.

  442. Now we often

  443. don't associate

  444. that with Jesus.

  445. But that's

  446. at that moment

  447. that's what

  448. Jesus gives us

  449. and within him

  450. there's this

  451. outburst of anger

  452. within him.

  453. Not just weeping

  454. but there's

  455. this anger

  456. at what death

  457. has done,

  458. what sin

  459. has brought

  460. into this world.

  461. The havoc,

  462. the pain,

  463. the destruction,

  464. the tears,

  465. the sorrows,

  466. all because of sin.

  467. And Jesus is angry.

  468. In fact,

  469. it's,

  470. it has been said

  471. that

  472. that as he

  473. went to the

  474. B.B. Warfield

  475. who says

  476. Jesus approached

  477. the grave

  478. of Lazarus

  479. in a state

  480. not of

  481. uncontrollable

  482. grief

  483. but

  484. inexpressible

  485. anger.

  486. That's who he was.

  487. He was so angry

  488. with what

  489. sin

  490. has caused

  491. and the

  492. havoc

  493. and the pain

  494. and the destruction

  495. and the death.

  496. And so Jesus

  497. is angry

  498. with death.

  499. But the wonderful

  500. thing is

  501. Jesus has come

  502. to confront

  503. death

  504. and to confront

  505. the devil

  506. who's behind it

  507. and he's come

  508. to confront

  509. what nobody

  510. else could.

  511. And as Jesus

  512. came to the grave

  513. weeping and angry

  514. he commands

  515. take away

  516. the stone.

  517. And of course

  518. this is where

  519. the protest

  520. comes from

  521. Martha.

  522. Why?

  523. Because behind

  524. the stone

  525. there's corruption

  526. and nobody

  527. wants to see

  528. corruption.

  529. And you know

  530. spiritually

  531. that's who we

  532. are in our

  533. natural state

  534. corrupt.

  535. And

  536. there's

  537. stones

  538. layers of

  539. stones

  540. over us

  541. that hide

  542. from ourselves

  543. what we're

  544. really like.

  545. And we don't

  546. want to see

  547. what we're

  548. really like.

  549. why do you

  550. think people

  551. want the

  552. Bible

  553. removed?

  554. Why do

  555. people say

  556. whatever book

  557. you look at

  558. don't look at

  559. the Bible?

  560. Because the

  561. Bible is the

  562. only book

  563. that will

  564. shift the

  565. stones.

  566. The Bible

  567. is the

  568. only book

  569. that reveals

  570. to us

  571. how we

  572. really are.

  573. And so

  574. people don't

  575. want to know.

  576. When Jesus

  577. came into

  578. this world

  579. he declared

  580. I am the

  581. light of

  582. the world.

  583. And people

  584. didn't want

  585. the light.

  586. Jesus said

  587. that.

  588. Men love

  589. darkness

  590. rather than

  591. light.

  592. They prefer

  593. it.

  594. Leave me

  595. alone.

  596. You know

  597. there's so

  598. many people

  599. don't want

  600. to hear

  601. the gospel.

  602. They don't

  603. want to

  604. come to

  605. church

  606. because

  607. they'll be

  608. disturbed.

  609. That's the

  610. bottom line.

  611. They don't

  612. want to

  613. hear about

  614. sin.

  615. They don't

  616. want to

  617. hear about

  618. their

  619. accountability

  620. before God.

  621. They don't

  622. want to

  623. hear that

  624. inside here

  625. there's all

  626. kind of

  627. corruption

  628. and sin.

  629. And so

  630. people don't

  631. want to

  632. hear these

  633. things.

  634. But Jesus

  635. says take

  636. away the

  637. stone.

  638. And you

  639. know that's

  640. the greatest

  641. thing that

  642. could happen

  643. to you

  644. tonight.

  645. If tonight

  646. you're still

  647. not a

  648. Christian.

  649. That the

  650. stones that

  651. is covering

  652. your own

  653. eyes from

  654. your own

  655. heart would

  656. be shifted

  657. in order

  658. that you

  659. would see.

  660. And if

  661. you're a

  662. Christian you

  663. look back

  664. in your

  665. life and

  666. you thank

  667. the Lord

  668. that came

  669. a day

  670. when he

  671. removed that

  672. stone.

  673. That was

  674. hiding what

  675. was in there

  676. from yourself.

  677. Oh it

  678. wasn't a nice

  679. thing to begin

  680. with.

  681. It was a

  682. terrible

  683. discovery.

  684. But it

  685. was the most

  686. wonderful

  687. discovery because

  688. that discovery

  689. brought you to

  690. seek the

  691. Lord.

  692. To seek

  693. his forgiveness.

  694. To seek

  695. his mercy.

  696. to seek

  697. his pardon.

  698. To seek

  699. his renewal.

  700. And so

  701. this is what

  702. Jesus has

  703. done.

  704. And you

  705. know the

  706. wonderful

  707. thing is

  708. that Jesus

  709. is the

  710. one who

  711. has power

  712. over death

  713. and over

  714. the grave.

  715. He

  716. demonstrated

  717. in his

  718. own death.

  719. Because

  720. remember the

  721. ladies they

  722. came to

  723. anoint the

  724. body of

  725. Jesus.

  726. And as

  727. they were

  728. coming to

  729. the grave

  730. there was a

  731. problem and

  732. they were

  733. saying who

  734. is going to

  735. shift the

  736. stone?

  737. Because they

  738. knew that they

  739. hadn't the

  740. strength to

  741. shift the

  742. stone.

  743. Who's going

  744. to shift

  745. the stone?

  746. But when they

  747. got there they

  748. saw the

  749. stone was

  750. gone.

  751. Because you

  752. see Jesus

  753. he no stone

  754. no grave

  755. could hold

  756. him.

  757. He had

  758. power over

  759. it.

  760. And so

  761. Jesus is the

  762. one who

  763. has conquered

  764. death.

  765. And so

  766. Jesus approaches

  767. the grave

  768. miracles.

  769. And he

  770. comes distressed

  771. and angry

  772. and weeping

  773. and he

  774. commands

  775. take away

  776. the stone.

  777. Now some

  778. people will

  779. say why

  780. did Jesus

  781. ask them

  782. to take

  783. away the

  784. stone?

  785. If Jesus

  786. has power

  787. over death

  788. if Jesus

  789. is able

  790. to perform

  791. so many

  792. miracles

  793. why didn't

  794. he just

  795. take the

  796. stone away

  797. himself

  798. through

  799. his own

  800. power?

  801. Well I

  802. don't believe

  803. that Jesus

  804. is going

  805. to use

  806. miraculous

  807. power to

  808. do something

  809. that is

  810. quite simple

  811. for other

  812. people to

  813. do.

  814. Nobody

  815. could bring

  816. a person

  817. to life

  818. but Jesus

  819. but plenty

  820. of people

  821. around could

  822. shift the

  823. stone.

  824. I think

  825. it's as

  826. simple as

  827. that.

  828. And so

  829. Jesus very

  830. simply says

  831. take away

  832. the stone.

  833. And I'm

  834. sure that

  835. there are

  836. many stones

  837. tonight

  838. that are

  839. covering

  840. your heart.

  841. If you're

  842. still not

  843. a Christian

  844. it is

  845. because of

  846. the stone

  847. that is

  848. over you

  849. so that

  850. you're not

  851. seeing.

  852. If you're

  853. a Christian

  854. you will

  855. look back

  856. over your

  857. life and

  858. you will

  859. remember so

  860. many different

  861. people.

  862. You will

  863. remember people

  864. who said

  865. things to

  866. you.

  867. You will

  868. remember

  869. people and

  870. it was their

  871. life that

  872. spoke to

  873. you.

  874. They were

  875. Christians

  876. and they

  877. loved the

  878. Lord and

  879. their life

  880. spoke the

  881. way that

  882. they lived

  883. their life

  884. the way

  885. they reacted

  886. in situations.

  887. There was

  888. something about

  889. them that

  890. spoke to

  891. you.

  892. It was

  893. one of the

  894. stones.

  895. Maybe by

  896. their

  897. lifestyle.

  898. Maybe it

  899. was what

  900. they said

  901. to you.

  902. But these

  903. were what

  904. they were

  905. beginning to

  906. move the

  907. stones in

  908. your life

  909. so that

  910. you were

  911. beginning to

  912. get a

  913. glimpse of

  914. who you

  915. were and

  916. who you

  917. needed.

  918. And if

  919. you're here

  920. tonight without

  921. Jesus Christ

  922. you need the

  923. stone moved

  924. so that you

  925. too will

  926. discover your

  927. need and

  928. discover that

  929. there's only

  930. one who can

  931. meet that

  932. need and

  933. that's

  934. Jesus.

  935. There are

  936. so many

  937. stones.

  938. There's the

  939. stone of

  940. unbelief.

  941. You know

  942. it's possible

  943. to come to

  944. church week

  945. in, week

  946. out, month

  947. in, month

  948. out and

  949. still not

  950. believe.

  951. There's a

  952. stone of

  953. carelessness,

  954. of apathy.

  955. Again you

  956. can come to

  957. church week

  958. in, week

  959. out, month

  960. in, month

  961. out and

  962. it doesn't

  963. really bother

  964. you.

  965. You hear

  966. the gospel,

  967. you read

  968. it.

  969. In fact you

  970. could tell

  971. people if

  972. somebody said

  973. to you,

  974. you know

  975. what do

  976. you do to

  977. become a

  978. Christian?

  979. Oh you

  980. could quote

  981. oh you

  982. just believe

  983. in the

  984. Lord Jesus

  985. Christ and

  986. you'll be

  987. saved.

  988. But it

  989. doesn't really

  990. mean anything

  991. to you.

  992. Well let

  993. me assure

  994. you there's

  995. a huge

  996. stone over

  997. your heart

  998. that sure

  999. needs to

  1000. be moved.

  1001. For some

  1002. people it's

  1003. stones of

  1004. doubt.

  1005. Other people

  1006. it might be

  1007. stones of

  1008. fear.

  1009. You know

  1010. there might

  1011. be people

  1012. here tonight

  1013. and they're

  1014. saying I

  1015. would like to

  1016. be a

  1017. Christian but

  1018. I'm afraid

  1019. I'm afraid

  1020. of how it

  1021. will affect

  1022. my life.

  1023. What will

  1024. people say?

  1025. What will

  1026. people say in

  1027. school if

  1028. I become

  1029. a Christian?

  1030. You know

  1031. when you get

  1032. older maybe

  1033. it doesn't

  1034. matter but

  1035. when we're

  1036. young I

  1037. remember it

  1038. myself the

  1039. whole thing

  1040. of peer

  1041. pressure.

  1042. What will

  1043. other people

  1044. think?

  1045. That sometimes

  1046. holds us

  1047. back.

  1048. Well we need

  1049. that stone

  1050. removed.

  1051. It doesn't

  1052. matter what

  1053. people think.

  1054. It doesn't

  1055. matter what

  1056. people say.

  1057. It matters

  1058. what the

  1059. Lord says.

  1060. And so you

  1061. ask tonight

  1062. Lord whatever

  1063. stones are

  1064. there that are

  1065. blocking me

  1066. from accepting

  1067. you.

  1068. Take them

  1069. away in

  1070. order that I

  1071. may discover

  1072. my need and

  1073. discover the

  1074. saviour who

  1075. can meet that

  1076. need.

  1077. Because nobody

  1078. else can

  1079. except the

  1080. Lord Jesus

  1081. Christ.

  1082. Remember

  1083. Jesus says

  1084. I am the

  1085. resurrection

  1086. and the

  1087. life.

  1088. Let's pray.

  1089. Oh Lord

  1090. our God we

  1091. give thanks for

  1092. the tremendous

  1093. statement that

  1094. you made by

  1095. a grave.

  1096. When it all

  1097. seemed so

  1098. bleak so

  1099. empty there

  1100. was so much

  1101. distress and

  1102. sorrow and

  1103. sadness and

  1104. yet you made

  1105. the most

  1106. wonderful statement

  1107. that that has

  1108. been made in

  1109. the face of

  1110. death saying

  1111. I am life and

  1112. I am the

  1113. life that rises

  1114. again.

  1115. We give thanks

  1116. for the hope

  1117. that is in our

  1118. heart tonight

  1119. and that we

  1120. are able to

  1121. look at death

  1122. when it will

  1123. approach us

  1124. and to say

  1125. oh death

  1126. where is your

  1127. sting?

  1128. Oh grave

  1129. where is your

  1130. victory?

  1131. We pray for

  1132. that faith

  1133. oh Lord.

  1134. We pray if there

  1135. are any here

  1136. tonight who are

  1137. still outside

  1138. Christ that

  1139. they won't

  1140. linger any

  1141. longer because

  1142. our days are

  1143. running away.

  1144. The return of

  1145. Jesus Christ is

  1146. coming ever

  1147. closer.

  1148. and we

  1149. read there of

  1150. what will

  1151. happen on

  1152. that day

  1153. and that

  1154. some to

  1155. everlasting

  1156. shame and

  1157. contempt

  1158. some to

  1159. outer

  1160. darkness.

  1161. It tells us

  1162. that men love

  1163. darkness rather

  1164. than light

  1165. and if we

  1166. choose that

  1167. darkness

  1168. then it ends

  1169. in outer

  1170. darkness which

  1171. is a fearful

  1172. thought.

  1173. And so we

  1174. pray that the

  1175. light of Jesus

  1176. may enter into

  1177. our hearts and

  1178. into our lives

  1179. tonight and

  1180. that we may

  1181. discover what

  1182. it is to have

  1183. Jesus as our

  1184. Lord and our

  1185. Saviour as the

  1186. resurrection and

  1187. life in our

  1188. life.

  1189. Bless us all we

  1190. pray grant us

  1191. your grace and

  1192. take us all home

  1193. safely we ask in

  1194. Jesus name.

  1195. Amen.

  1196. We're going to

  1197. conclude our

  1198. service singing

  1199. to God's praise

  1200. in Psalm 16

  1201. from Sing

  1202. Psalms.

  1203. Psalm 16

  1204. from Sing

  1205. Psalms.

  1206. And the tune

  1207. is Golden

  1208. Hill.

  1209. Verse 8

  1210. Before me

  1211. constantly I

  1212. set the

  1213. Lord alone

  1214. because he

  1215. is in my

  1216. right hand

  1217. I'll not

  1218. be overthrown

  1219. therefore my

  1220. heart is glad

  1221. my tongue

  1222. with joy

  1223. will sing

  1224. my body

  1225. too will

  1226. rest secure

  1227. in hope

  1228. unwavering

  1229. for you

  1230. will not

  1231. allow my

  1232. soul and

  1233. death to

  1234. stay

  1235. nor will

  1236. you leave

  1237. your Holy

  1238. One to

  1239. see the

  1240. tombs decay

  1241. you have

  1242. made known

  1243. to me

  1244. the path

  1245. of life

  1246. divine

  1247. bliss

  1248. shall I

  1249. know

  1250. at your

  1251. right hand

  1252. joy

  1253. from your

  1254. face

  1255. will shine

  1256. these verses

  1257. verses 8

  1258. to the end

  1259. of Psalm 16

  1260. before me

  1261. constantly

  1262. before me

  1263. constantly

  1264. I said

  1265. the Lord

  1266. the Lord

  1267. because

  1268. he is

  1269. at my

  1270. right hand

  1271. I'll not

  1272. be

  1273. over

  1274. up

  1275. my

  1276. my

  1277. my

  1278. !

  1279. my

1280. For you will not allow my soul and death to stay.

1281. Nor will you leave your only heart to see the tomb decay.

1282. You have been known to me.

1283. The path of life divine.

  1284. Where shall I know?

1285. So at your right hand,

1286. For if all your face will shine.

1287. I'll go to the door on my right.

1288. Now may the grace, mercy and peace of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

1289. rest and abide upon each one of you now and forevermore. Amen.

  1290. Hello.

  1291. Hello.

  1292. Thank you.
