  1. If you turn in your Bible, it's that passage we read in Mark's Gospel. Mark chapter 5.

    Mark 5 chapter mention

  2. ! Mark chapter 5.

    Mark 5 chapter mention

  3. And we'll read from verse 24, the middle of verse 24. Mark 5, from the middle of verse 24.

  4. A great crowd followed Jesus and thronged about him. And there was a woman who had had a discharge

  5. of blood for 12 years and who had suffered much under many physicians and had spent all that she

  6. had and was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus, came up behind

  7. him in the crowd, touched his garment, for she said, if I touch even his garments I will be made well.

  8. And immediately the flow of blood dried up and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

  9. And Jesus perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the

  10. crowd and said, who touched my garments? And his disciples said to him, you see the crowd pressing

  11. around you and yet you see who touched me? And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman

  12. knowing what had happened to her came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him

  13. the whole truth. And he said to her daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed

  14. of your disease.

  15. Having a name is very important. I mean, one of the first things that we do when a child is born

  16. is to name that child because, I mean, imagine a child without a name would be a bit weird going through life.

  17. What's your name? Oh, my name is no name. It's a bit strange and it always baffles me, to be frank, where

  18. people have babies and then they take weeks to decide on a name. I just can never get my head around that.

  19. I mean, you've had a good bit of time to decide on a name.

  20. Sometimes people look and they'll say, oh yeah, yeah, but it doesn't look like a colon. I mean,

  21. who wouldn't look like a colon? I think it's a wonderful name. But everybody gets a name.

  22. And in the Bible, names are very important as well, particularly in the Bible because

  23. names in the Bible mean something. Names in the Bible communicate something. Adam is called Adam

  24. because he's the father of mankind. Eve is named Eve because she's the mother of living. Jacob

  25. was named Jacob because figuratively grasps the heel. He's a deceiver, which is what he was.

  26. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus is called Jesus. Why? Listen, why? Because he will save. That's what he came to do.

  27. He came to save his people from their sins. So names communicate something and names are very,

  28. very important. But sometimes names, people in the Bible are not named.

  29. And so whilst I'm saying that names are important, sometimes people in the Bible are not named. Like

  30. this woman. We don't know her name. She's unnamed, but she's certainly not unimportant. And let's

  31. always remember that. There's lots of unnamed people in the Bible who the Lord uses to teach us

  32. wonderful lessons. Unnamed people in the Bible whom the Lord gives to us, shows us,

  33. He saves in order to give us encouragement and hope. And so today this woman, I'm going to look at this

  34. woman, this woman with the issue of blood as we know her, this bleeding woman who's unnamed

  35. and yet not unimportant. I want to give a wee background to what this woman was like.

  36. Because she was not just unnamed, but she was very unfortunate in much of her life. She was socially

  37. isolated. She had this bleeding problem, this issue of blood. And so according to Leviticus chapter 15,

    Leviticus 15 chapter mention

  38. everything she touched would become unclean. She could not or should not touch anything and anyone

  39. she touched would become unclean. So you can just imagine nobody wanted to go near her. She was

  40. unclean like a leper, unclean, unclean. She couldn't hug anybody. She couldn't or shouldn't go to

  41. gatherings or mix freely. Twelve years she had been socially isolated. She was religiously excluded.

  42. She couldn't go to church, synagogue or temple. Synagogue was basically, synagogue was more like a

  43. community center that was also used for worship services. Temple was more kind of religious.

  44. But she couldn't go to these places or shouldn't go to these places because she was unclean. So she

  45. was cut off from people, but cut off most importantly from the life of God's people. She wasn't a church goer.

  46. Socially isolated, religiously excluded, financially exhausted. We read in verse 26 that she had spent

  47. all her money on physicians, suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had,

  48. and was no better, but rather grew worse. She had no money. She spent all her money on the doctors,

  49. and the doctors took her money, and they also, though, took her hope and her energy,

  50. and left her feeling worse. So here's this woman. She's lonely. She's unclean. She's broke. She's tired.

  51. She's exhausted. She's hopeless. But that's the kind of person Jesus came to meet.

  52. That's the kind of person Jesus still comes to meet today. Do you feel like that?

  53. Do you feel in some way unclean, excluded, hopeless, helpless, exhausted, weary?

  54. Jesus comes for you. And we have that made very clear by this woman whose name we don't even know,

  55. but whose life was touched and transformed by the Savior that we do know. And if he can do it for her,

  56. my friends, he can do it for you. And so there's three things I want us to think about today

  57. as we think of this unnamed but not unimportant woman. The first is this. There's timing.

  58. There's the timing of Jesus coming into her life. Not just her life, but the timing of Jesus coming

  59. into Jairus' daughter's life as well. So it begins in verse 21, the passage, with Jairus coming to see

  60. Jesus. His daughter of 12 years of age is very, very sick. And in verse 22, he sees Jesus. He falls at

  61. his feet and he implores him. That's a pleading word. He's desperate. Who wouldn't be desperate?

  62. If your child was sick to death? Who wouldn't be? So he comes and he's imploring him, Lord,

  63. please, my little daughter's at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her. So he makes his way

  64. to see this daughter. And then the woman gets in the way and stops Jesus from going to see Jairus'

  65. daughter. The woman stops him, interrupts her sword looks, and then he heals the woman.

  66. I wonder, do you know what it's like to be impatient about something? Are you ever impatient? I'm sure

  67. many of us are impatient. How often have we said, you're late? I mean, sometimes we say, you're early.

  68. That's equally annoying to me, to be honest. I like people to be on time. But we're all kind of

  69. impatient in one way or another. We're impatient with people. Maybe we're impatient with things.

  70. Have you ever ordered on Amazon, or there are other places you can buy goods from, and they'll tell you

  71. it's going to be here in 48 hours. And I don't know, do they think 48 hours means 10 days? Maybe in

  72. another world it means that. It gets very frustrating. Makes me, in a way, very impatient.

  73. Well, I think there may have been a great deal of impatience with Jairus, and maybe even this

  74. woman. From Jairus' point of view, here's his daughter who's desperately unwell,

  75. and this woman steps in, and Jairus may have been thinking, what are you doing, Lord? Why are you

  76. stopping? Did you not hear what I said? My daughter's dying. Why are you stopping on the way? Why are you

  77. standing around? And when Jesus stands around and he says, who touched me? The verbs in that passage say

  78. he would not let it go. He kept on saying, who touched me? Who touched me? I can imagine Jairus being

  79. very impatient. Do you not realize my daughter is going to die? What's happening here? From Jairus'

  80. point of view, there was a bad timing. But from heaven's point of view, this has been ordained.

  81. This has been scheduled. This is the way it was always meant to be. Maybe even the woman. The woman,

  82. 12 years she had suffered. That's a long period of time. 12 years. Maybe she was thinking, why did

  83. Jesus take so long to come this way? Where was he? Where was he when I needed him? Why did he allow

  84. me to suffer for 12 years? From her point of view, perhaps, there was a level of impatience. But from

  85. Jesus' point of view, it was, this was the appointed time. This is the ordained time. And Psalm 139 is,

  86. the main message of Psalm 139 is, all our days ordained for us were written in your book before

  87. one of them came to be. Everything is according to the appointed time of God. He's never too late.

  88. He's never too early. He's always on time. So there are no, with God, delays or disruptions or

  89. cancellations. It's just his appointed time. And we see that very clearly here in this passage today.

  90. There are many things that we see about Jesus and notice about Jesus and I think are amazing about

  91. Jesus. But have you ever thought of this one thing? Jesus was never in a hurry. No matter what he had to

  92. do, no matter where he had to go, he was never in a hurry. No matter how desperate a situation, in fact,

  93. sometimes the more desperate a situation, he would actually hold back. Think of Lazarus and maybe others.

  94. Why? Why was he never in a hurry? Because his timing is sovereign and his timing is certain

  95. and his timing is perfect. You know what, friends? Maybe today we need to slow down a bit.

  96. Maybe we need to synchronize our timing. So in March and in October, we change our watches, don't we?

  97. Spring forward and fall back. Everybody does it or else you'll be out of time with everybody else around you

  98. and all the best with that. Why don't we? Maybe today is the time, the day to synchronize our watches,

  99. the watch of our lives, according to Jesus' time, according to the Lord's timing.

  100. Change our timing, how we view life, talk to him, walk with him, time our lives by him,

  101. which means giving our lives to him and say, the time piece of my life, dear Jesus, is in your hands.

  102. So there's timing. The second thing is this. There's a touch. That's a big feature in this passage,

  103. of course. There's a touch the woman. Jesus is coming to him. Jesus is passing by. And she said in

  104. verse 29, if I touch even his garments, I will be made well. And immediately the flow of blood dried up

  105. and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. A touch, a simple, slight,

  106. but saving touch transformed this woman's life. Touch in the Bible is often used. The Bible uses

  107. lots of pictures to describe what faith is. And touch is one of them. Touch. When the apostle Paul

  108. was in Athens, in Acts chapter 17. Do you remember that passage where he goes to Athens and he's

    Acts 17 chapter mention

  109. looking around the city in Acts chapter 17 and he reasoned with them and he saw how they were so

    Acts 17 chapter mention

  110. religious and he wanted to show them. He says, I see you even have an altar to an unknown God. I want to

  111. show you who this unknown God is. And this is what he says when he's proclaiming to the Athenians,

  112. the God who made the world and everything in it, the Lord of heaven and earth doesn't live in temples

  113. made by hands, nor is he served by human hands as though he needed anything since he himself gives

  114. to all mankind life and breath and everything. He made all men to live on all the face of the earth,

  115. wherever they are, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.

  116. Why? That they should seek God in the hope that they might feel their way towards him and find him.

  117. So Paul is saying to the Athenians, God puts people everywhere, wherever they are in the world. Why?

  118. So that they might reach out and touch him. That's what he's saying. That they might just reach out

  119. and touch because he's never far away. The Lord is never actually far away from us, as he goes on to

  120. say, because he is everywhere present. So I think that the image of touch, the picture of touch is a

  121. great picture for us to get an idea of what faith in Jesus means. It's a touch.

  122. It's a touch. It's a touch. And there's three things I want to say. First is this. It's a simple touch.

  123. It was only a touch. She doesn't come, this woman doesn't come with a speech and she doesn't make a

  124. scene and she doesn't ask for an audience. She doesn't create a drama. I mean, her problem was

  125. massive and she might have thought there needs to be something huge here in order for me to be

  126. healed and saved like Naaman the Syrian. You remember Naaman in 2 Kings 5, you had this terrible

  127. problem with leprosy. And when he went to Elisha and Elisha said, basically, dip yourself seven times

  128. in the Jordan. He says, it must be more complicated than that. There must be more to it than that.

  129. And Elisha said, no, it's not. It's simple, not dramatic. It doesn't need to be dramatic.

  130. And that woman or this woman got this. She realized, all I do, all I need to do is touch.

  131. A simple touch. If I touch, she says in verse 28. If I touch. See, faith does not need to be

  132. complicated. I think we think faith needs to be complicated. Sometimes I think we think faith needs

  133. to be complex, but it doesn't. If I just touch him and that touch reveal the power and release the power

  134. of Christ to change her life. A simple touch. Faith in Jesus is, it's about knowing him. It's about a head

  135. knowledge. Faith in Jesus is also about a heart knowledge as well. We need to know him in our hearts.

  136. But faith in Jesus is also the hands. Faith in Jesus, true faith in Jesus, simple faith in Jesus,

  137. must involve the hands. It must involve action. The apostle James, or James in the book of James, says,

  138. faith without works is dead. See, we can say we believe in God. I trust that everybody here today

  139. believes in God. But James says, you believe in God, so does the devil. The devil doesn't reach out to

  140. touch Jesus. The devil doesn't reach out and say, Lord, save me and Lord, heal me. Believing is one thing,

  141. but believing that response and action is another. And that's the saving faith that this woman had.

  142. She reached out simply to touch him. And that simple touch transformed her. Do you have that belief today? Do you

  143. have that faith today? You believe in God, yes. You believe even in Jesus, yes. But have you reached out

  144. with a simple touch? There's a simple touch. Secondly, there's a slight touch. It's just his garments. It's not even

  145. himself. In verse 28, it's not even himself. It's touched his garment. I think in some version it says,

  146. touched the hem of his garment. The word there means the tassels, the edges. It's not the whole garment even.

  147. It's just the very edge of his garment. So not only is it a simple touch, it's a slight touch. She doesn't

  148. grab his arm. She doesn't hold on to him like Mary Magdalene or doesn't wash his feet like the

  149. immoral woman in Luke who washed Jesus' feet and wet his feet with her tears and her hair. She didn't do

  150. any of that like Mary Magdalene grabs Jesus and holds on to him. She just touched the fringe of his

  151. garment of his cloak. The very hem, the very tassel, the very edge.

  152. The smallest possible contact with the greatest possible Savior. That's what this woman had.

  153. It's the minimum of faith which receives the maximum of grace. Just a slight touch. Do you know that

  154. slight touch today? Do you know that ability, that desire just to even touch the hem of his garment?

  155. You might say, but I don't know much theology. I don't know much about the shorter catechism or

  156. the Westminster Confession of Faith or maybe even my Bible. Or I haven't gone through a ritual or I've

  157. not had any powerful experience. That does not matter, friends. That does not matter. That'll come

  158. in time. But I'm asking, do you have that sense? I need

  159. Jesus and I'm willing even to touch just the hem of his garment.

  160. That's what's needed.

  161. In fact, all she knows

  162. or all we know she knows is that she needed

  163. to be made clean

  164. and she believed that Jesus

  165. could and would do it.

  166. And that was it. That's it simply.

  167. We sang in Psalm 109, I am poor and needy.

  168. Do you know that you're poor and needy?

  169. Do you recognize that?

  170. And willing to

  171. simply

  172. and slightly even

  173. reach out and touch

  174. this Jesus?

  175. Do you know

  176. if you have

  177. a bare wire

  178. that's connected to a power station

  179. you don't have to

  180. grab that wire

  181. in order to feel its power?

  182. Am I right?

  183. And I trust you would tell your children

  184. don't even touch that

  185. because if you just

  186. touch a bare wire

  187. or touch something

  188. that's exposed

  189. that is powerful

  190. even the slightest touch

  191. is enough to

  192. show you its power.

  193. And so it is with Jesus.

  194. You do not need to know everything.

  195. But do you know enough?

  196. I need him

  197. and he can

  198. and he will

  199. heal me

  200. restore me

  201. save me.

  202. A touch

  203. a touch

  204. which was simple

  205. and which was slight

  206. and which was saving.

  207. Verse 29

  208. we read that

  209. immediately

  210. the blood

  211. flow of blood

  212. dried up

  213. and she felt in her body

  214. that she was healed

  215. of her disease.

  216. And verse 34

  217. Jesus says

  218. daughter

  219. your faith has made you well

  220. and that word

  221. made you well

  222. is the word

  223. to be saved.

  224. It's a Greek verb

  225. to be saved

  226. used in different contexts

  227. but when Jesus says

  228. your faith has made you well

  229. go in peace

  230. she was saved.

  231. Being justified by faith

  232. we have peace with God.

  233. She was saved

  234. and healed.

  235. Her life was

  236. utterly transformed

  237. and turned around.

  238. And how?

  239. By a simple

  240. touch.

  241. By a saving

  242. touch.

  243. And it happened

  244. immediately

  245. 12 years

  246. of suffering

  247. ended

  248. immediately

  249. not progressively

  250. not after a while

  251. but right away

  252. through a touch

  253. on the garment

  254. of Jesus.

  255. And that's what Jesus

  256. does friends.

  257. When Jesus

  258. heals

  259. or Jesus saves

  260. he does so

  261. fully

  262. and finally

  263. and forever.

  264. He really does.

  265. The wonderful hymn

  266. to God

  267. be the glory.

  268. The second verse

  269. one of the lines

  270. in the second verse

  271. is this

  272. the vilest offender

  273. who truly believes

  274. that

  275. what's the word?

  276. Moment from Jesus

  277. a pardon receives.

  278. Not gradually

  279. or eventually

  280. but that moment

  281. from Jesus

  282. a pardon receives.

  283. Immediately

  284. the woman's blood

  285. the issue of blood

  286. was dried up.

  287. That's what he does

  288. because his power

  289. is such

  290. that he can work

  291. immediately.

  292. That is why

  293. Jesus is so different

  294. from every other

  295. medicine

  296. or offer of help

  297. we might get.

  298. If you take something

  299. like an antibiotic

  300. you've got to take it

  301. over time

  302. or maybe something

  303. like a prophylactic

  304. medicine

  305. you've got to take

  306. to keep a disease away.

  307. It's something

  308. that's ongoing

  309. and progressive.

  310. Being saved by Jesus

  311. is something

  312. that happens

  313. immediately

  314. right away.

  315. Right away.

  316. for all

  317. who will reach out

  318. and touch

  319. even the very hem

  320. of his garment

  321. right here

  322. right now.

  323. Can I ask you

  324. this morning

  325. it still is morning

  326. can I ask you

  327. how would you

  328. describe yourself

  329. before God

  330. today?

  331. How would you

  332. describe yourself

  333. before Christ

  334. today?

  335. A leper

  336. an outcast

  337. an offender

  338. shamed

  339. broken

  340. abused

  341. sinner

  342. think of how

  343. you would

  344. coming into

  345. the presence

  346. of God

  347. describe yourself

  348. that definition

  349. or description

  350. that is

  351. keeping you

  352. away

  353. from God

  354. I can't

  355. come to God

  356. because I am

  357. one of these

  358. and maybe a multiplicity

  359. of these things

  360. you know

  361. one simple touch

  362. and one slight touch

  363. upon the Lord

  364. Jesus Christ

  365. will completely

  366. change

  367. your standing

  368. before him

  369. to the broken

  370. we become healed

  371. sinners

  372. become saints

  373. that just means

  374. set apart

  375. for Christ

  376. the guilty

  377. become forgiven

  378. the lepers

  379. are cleansed

  380. the outsiders

  381. we become

  382. insiders

  383. in other words

  384. everything that

  385. keeps us

  386. from God

  387. everything that

  388. keeps us

  389. from Christ

  390. everything that

  391. keeps us

  392. from the fellowship

  393. of belonging

  394. to the family

  395. of God

  396. immediately

  397. the Lord

  398. Jesus deals

  399. with it

  400. so do not

  401. hold back

  402. do not

  403. stand back

  404. simple faith

  405. reach out

  406. faith

  407. reach out

  408. and touch

  409. faith

  410. will utterly

  411. and completely

  412. transform

  413. your life

  414. if you will

  415. reach out

  416. and touch

  417. him

  418. today

  419. and so

  420. there's the

  421. timing

  422. and there's

  423. the touch

  424. and then

  425. very briefly

  426. there's the

  427. transformation

  428. and this

  429. woman's life

  430. was transformed

  431. and Jesus

  432. friends

  433. I mean

  434. hallelujah

  435. Jesus

  436. always transforms

  437. lives

  438. isn't that

  439. great news

  440. he utterly

  441. transformed

  442. this woman's

  443. life

  444. in so many

  445. ways

  446. but you know

  447. one of the

  448. amazing things

  449. I think

  450. in this passage

  451. that stands

  452. out for me

  453. is this

  454. look at verse

  455. 34

  456. he said to

  457. her

  458. this is the

  459. woman

  460. who was

  461. known as

  462. excluded

  463. and don't

  464. go near

  465. her

  466. and all

  467. of these

  468. things

  469. he calls

  470. her what

  471. he calls

  472. her daughter

  473. she hadn't

  474. heard that

  475. term for

  476. decades

  477. and decades

  478. but now

  479. the son

  480. of God

  481. says

  482. daughter

  483. what an

  484. amazing

  485. thing to

  486. hear from

  487. the mouth

  488. of Jesus

  489. she's

  490. his daughter

  491. family

  492. language

  493. and that's

  494. what he

  495. does for

  496. all of us

  497. she comes

  498. to him

  499. in verse

  500. 33

  501. in fear

  502. and trembling

  503. and fell

  504. down before

  505. him

  506. and this

  507. to me

  508. is

  509. it's

  510. concerning

  511. and it's

  512. interesting

  513. because maybe

  514. today

  515. maybe you

  516. are afraid

  517. of God

  518. and maybe

  519. the fear

  520. of God

  521. has been

  522. drummed

  523. into you

  524. and maybe

  525. that is

  526. what's

  527. keeping you

  528. away

  529. from God

  530. also

  531. and I'm

  532. not saying

  533. today

  534. that the

  535. fear of

  536. God

  537. is wrong

  538. but the

  539. correct

  540. fear of

  541. God

  542. is right

  543. but not

  544. a fear

  545. of God

  546. that draws

  547. us to

  548. God

  549. and to

  550. Christ

  551. is very

  552. good

  553. a fear

  554. of God

  555. that drives

  556. us away

  557. let me

  558. tell you

  559. that is

  560. not a

  561. true fear

  562. of God

  563. there's

  564. something wrong

  565. with that

  566. John

  567. the apostle

  568. says

  569. perfect love

  570. drives out

  571. fear

  572. and he's

  573. using that

  574. in the sense

  575. of I'm

  576. afraid

  577. like she

  578. was

  579. and maybe

  580. today

  581. you are

  582. afraid

  583. you're

  584. full of

  585. fear

  586. and you're

  587. full of

  588. trembling

  589. and you

  590. think I

  591. can't

  592. come to

  593. him

  594. but the

  595. Lord

  596. is waiting

  597. for you

  598. to reach

  599. out and

  600. touch

  601. him

  602. and the

  603. Lord

  604. is waiting

  605. to restore

  606. and to

  607. redesignate

  608. your life

  609. as daughter

  610. as son

  611. as child

  612. as loved

  613. one

  614. don't be

  615. afraid

  616. in fact

  617. he says

  618. that to

  619. Jairus

  620. later on

  621. when his

  622. daughter

  623. was dead

  624. don't be

  625. afraid

  626. somebody

  627. said

  628. it said

  629. somewhere

  630. that

  631. the phrase

  632. God's

  633. phrase

  634. don't be

  635. afraid

  636. appears

  637. 365

  638. times

  639. in the

  640. Bible

  641. do you

  642. believe

  643. that

  644. it's

  645. actually

  646. not

  647. true

  648. it

  649. sounds

  650. great

  651. you know

  652. it's

  653. a lovely

  654. thing

  655. one

  656. for

  657. every

  658. day

  659. but

  660. the

  661. fact

  662. is

  663. the

  664. truth

  665. is

  666. that

  667. God

  668. does

  669. say

  670. throughout

  671. the

  672. scripture

  673. again

  674. and again

  675. and again

  676. and again

  677. and again

  678. and again

  679. do not

  680. be afraid

  681. he wants

  682. to draw

  683. us

  684. he doesn't

  685. want to

  686. drive us

  687. away

  688. God

  689. so loved

  690. the world

  691. that he

  692. gave his

  693. one and only

  694. son

  695. not to

  696. drive us

  697. from him

  698. but that

  699. whosoever

  700. would believe

  701. in him

  702. whosoever

  703. would reach

  704. out and

  705. simply

  706. seemingly

  707. slightly

  708. touch him

  709. even the

  710. hem of his

  711. garment

  712. would be

  713. saved

  714. that to

  715. me

  716. speaks

  717. very

  718. clearly

  719. of a

  720. God

  721. of love

  722. and grace

  723. who wants

  724. to draw

  725. us

  726. and not

  727. to drive

  728. us

  729. to bring

  730. us

  731. from

  732. outcasts

  733. to family

  734. from sinners

  735. to be

  736. saved

  737. and that

  738. is what

  739. he calls

  740. you

  741. today

  742. this

  743. woman

  744. unseen

  745. unnamed

  746. unknown

  747. unfortunate

  748. worn

  749. down

  750. many

  751. many

  752. long

  753. years

  754. on the

  755. edge

  756. of hope

  757. but this

  758. story

  759. says

  760. you may

  761. be unnamed

  762. in this

  763. world

  764. you may

  765. be unfortunate

  766. in so many

  767. ways in this

  768. world but you

  769. are never

  770. unimportant

  771. to Jesus

  772. never

  773. ever

  774. his timing

  775. is perfect

  776. his power

  777. is present

  778. and his

  779. touch

  780. still saves

  781. and his

  782. grace

  783. will turn

  784. you

  785. into a

  786. son

  787. and a

  788. daughter

  789. I'm going

  790. to close

  791. now

  792. with a

  793. poem

  794. that I

  795. read

  796. it's in

  797. William

  798. Hendrickson's

  799. commentary

  800. on Mark

  801. actually

  802. I remember

  803. reading it

  804. years and

  805. years ago

  806. and I

  807. remember

  808. it came

  809. back to me

  810. when I was

  811. preparing for

  812. today for

  813. this morning

  814. and it's a

  815. wonderful poem

  816. that a

  817. woman who

  818. heard a

  819. minister

  820. preaching on

  821. this passage

  822. sent to

  823. the minister

  824. and it

  825. says

  826. who

  827. touched

  828. me

  829. t'was the

  830. voice of

  831. the master

  832. and the

  833. woman's

  834. heart beat

  835. faster and

  836. faster

  837. trembling

  838. she came

  839. and bowed

  840. her head

  841. I touched

  842. you Lord

  843. was what

  844. she said

  845. the master

  846. answered

  847. go thy

  848. way

  849. thy faith

  850. has made

  851. thee

  852. whole this

  853. day

  854. have you

  855. touched

  856. me

  857. I heard

  858. it

  859. t'was the

  860. voice of

  861. the master

  862. and oh

  863. my heart

  864. beat

  865. faster and

  866. faster

  867. you came

  868. with a

  869. throng

  870. to God's

  871. house

  872. today

  873. but I

  874. felt not

  875. your touch

  876. as you

  877. went on

  878. your way

  879. I was

  880. ashamed

  881. and bowed

  882. my head

  883. reach out

  884. a bit

  885. further

  886. the next

  887. time

  888. he said

  889. hear Jesus

  890. calling you

  891. reach out

  892. a bit

  893. further

  894. today

  895. our father

  896. we thank

  897. you for

  898. the power

  899. of the

  900. gospel

  901. for the

  902. love of

  903. Jesus

  904. and we

  905. pray that

  906. we might

  907. every one

  908. of us

  909. here

  910. in this

  911. building

  912. today

  913. know

  914. what it

  915. is to

  916. reach out

  917. and touch

  918. to reach

  919. out

  920. and to

  921. be

  922. transformed

  923. to reach

  924. out

  925. and receive

  926. forgiveness

  927. and healing

  928. and new

  929. standing

  930. through

  931. Christ

  932. with you

  933. we ask

  934. these things

  935. in Jesus

  936. name

  937. amen

  938. we're going

  939. to sing

  940. our final

  941. psalm

  942. from

  943. psalm

  944. 34

  945. page

  946. 247

  947. psalm

  948. 34

  949. from

  950. page

  951. 247

  952. we're

  953. singing

  954. verses

  955. 8

  956. to

  957. 11

  958. oh

  959. taste

  960. and

  961. see

  962. that

  963. God

  964. is

  965. good

  966. and

  967. the

  968. psalmist

  969. there

  970. David

  971. is

  972. saying

  973. he's

  974. not

  975. asking

  976. us

  977. to

  978. enjoy

  979. the

  980. whole

  981. meal

  982. he's

  983. just

  984. saying

  985. taste

  986. and

  987. see

  988. that

  989. God

  990. is

  991. good

  992. you

  993. know

  994. when

  995. you

  996. taste

  997. something

  998. gives

  999. you

  1000. a

  1001. taste

  1002. of

  1003. what

  1004. is

  1005. to

  1006. come

  1007. and

  1008. that

  1009. is

  1010. what

  1011. this

  1012. woman

  1013. did

  1014. she

  1015. touched

  1016. and

  1017. she would

  1018. much

  1019. better

  1020. taste

  1021. and

  1022. see

  1023. that

  1024. God

  1025. is

  1026. good

  1027. who

  1028. trusts

  1029. in

  1030. him

  1031. is

  1032. blessed

  1033. 34

  1034. verses

  1035. 8

  1036. to

  1037. 11

  1038. we

  1039. stand

  1040. to

  1041. praise

  1042. God

  1043. oh

  1044. taste

  1045. and

  1046. see

  1047. that

  1048. God

  1049. is

  1050. good

  1051. who

  1052. trusts

  1053. in

  1054. him

  1055. is

  1056. blessed

  1057. fear

  1058. !

  1059. God

  1060. is

  1061. good

  1062. to

  1063. be

  1064. with

  1065. what

  1066. oppressed

  1067. God

  1068. is

  1069. good

  1070. and

  1071. may

  1072. be

  1073. and

  1074. he

  1075. be

  1076. and

  1077. they

  1078. may

  1079. lack

  1080. their

  1081. food

  1082. food

  1083. but

  1084. they

  1085. that

  1086. truly

  1087. seek

  1088. the

  1089. Lord

  1090. shall

  1091. not

  1092. lack

  1093. any

  1094. food

  1095. O

  1096. children

  1097. hither

  1098. do

  1099. ye

  1100. come

  1101. and

  1102. unto

  1103. me

  1104. give

  1105. hear

  1106. I

  1107. shall

  1108. you

  1109. teach

  1110. to

  1111. understand

  1112. how

  1113. ye

  1114. the

  1115. Lord

  1116. choose

  1117. hear

  1118. and

  1119. may

  1120. grace

  1121. and

  1122. mercy

  1123. and

  1124. peace

  1125. from

  1126. Father

  1127. Son

  1128. and

  1129. Holy

  1130. Spirit

  1131. be

  1132. with

  1133. you

  1134. all

  1135. Amen

  1136. take a

  1137. seat

  1138. folks

  1139. just

  1140. before

  1141. you

  1142. make

  1143. your

  1144. way

  1145. out

  1146. just

  1147. like

  1148. I

  1149. said

  1150. at

  1151. the

  1152. start

  1153. just

  1154. to

  1155. come

  1156. back

  1157. to

  1158. one

  1159. of

  1160. the

  1161. items

  1162. in

  1163. the

  1164. bulletin

  1165. sheet

  1166. I

  1167. wanted

  1168. to

  1169. leave

  1170. it

  1171. to

  1172. the

  1173. end

  1174. and

  1175. hope

  1176. that

  1177. it

  1178. wouldn't

  1179. be

  1180. too

  1181. much

  1182. of

  1183. a

  1184. distraction

  1185. during

  1186. the

  1187. preaching

  1188. and that

  1189. is

  1190. the

  1191. matter

  1192. of

  1193. the

  1194. future

  1195. of

  1196. the

  1197. seminary

  1198. it's

  1199. on

  1200. your

  1201. bulletin

  1202. sheet

  1203. and

  1204. there's

  1205. a

  1206. note

  1207. there

  1208. that

  1209. there

  1210. will

  1211. be

  1212. a

  1213. congregational

  1214. meeting

  1215. on

  1216. Wednesday

  1217. the

  1218. 28th

  1219. of

  1220. January

  1221. at

  1222. 7.30

  1223. p.m.

  1224. that will

  1225. be in

  1226. the

  1227. seminary

  1228. and the

  1229. meeting is

  1230. being called

  1231. with regards

  1232. to addressing

  1233. the future

  1234. of the

  1235. seminary

  1236. and especially

  1237. the proposed

  1238. sale of

  1239. it

  1240. it's not

  1241. an easy

  1242. matter

  1243. of course

  1244. and it

  1245. has had

  1246. much

  1247. prayer

  1248. and still

  1249. requires

  1250. much

  1251. prayer

  1252. from us

  1253. all

  1254. and

  1255. today

  1256. so prior

  1257. to the

  1258. meeting

  1259. today

  1260. there is

  1261. a sheet

  1262. going to

  1263. be

  1264. distributed

  1265. as you

  1266. go

  1267. out

  1268. which

  1269. contains

  1270. more

  1271. information

  1272. about

  1273. the

  1274. process

  1275. that's

  1276. been

  1277. followed

  1278. and

  1279. just

  1280. various

  1281. bits

  1282. and pieces

  1283. about

  1284. how

  1285. we're

  1286. looking

  1287. at

  1288. things

  1289. and

  1290. on

  1291. the

  1292. evening

  1293. itself

  1294. there will

  1295. be a

  1296. more

  1297. detailed

  1298. presentation

  1299. given

  1300. where they

  1301. go into

  1302. more

  1303. detail

  1304. about

  1305. the

  1306. items

  1307. mentioned

  1308. on that

  1309. summary

  1310. sheet

  1311. that you

  1312. get

  1313. today

  1314. and

  1315. there'll

  1316. be

  1317. an

  1318. opportunity

  1319. for

  1320. questions

  1321. on

  1322. the

  1323. evening

  1324. as

  1325. well

  1326. and

  1327. I

  1328. want

  1329. to

  1330. encourage

  1331. as

  1332. many

  1333. of

  1334. you

  1335. as

  1336. possible

  1337. to

  1338. come

  1339. along

  1340. on

  1341. the

  1342. evening

  1343. to

  1344. be

  1345. involved

  1346. in

  1347. this

  1348. whole

  1349. process

  1350. and

  1351. to

  1352. be

  1353. able

  1354. to

  1355. give

  1356. any

  1357. questions

  1358. that

  1359. you

  1360. would

  1361. wish

  1362. to

  1363. ask

  1364. on

  1365. the

  1366. evening

  1367. so

  1368. you'll

  1369. get

  1370. this

  1371. sheet

  1372. as

  1373. you

  1374. go

  1375. out

  1376. read

  1377. it

  1378. before

  1379. the

  1380. meeting

  1381. and

  1382. then

  1383. you

  1384. can

  1385. come

  1386. maybe

  1387. more

  1388. prepared

  1389. and

  1390. more

  1391. informed

  1392. about

  1393. the

  1394. process

  1395. so

  1396. thank

  1397. you

  1398. for

  1399. your

  1400. patience

  1401. thank

  1402. you

  1403. for

  1404. making

  1405. this

  1406. a

  1407. matter

  1408. of

  1409. prayer

  1410. and

  1411. do

  1412. keep

  1413. praying

  1414. about

  1415. it

  1416. Colin

  1417. will

  1418. go

  1419. to

  1420. the

  1421. main

  1422. door

  1423. now

  1424. and

  1425. I'll

  1426. go

  1427. to

  1428. the

  1429. door

  1430. to

  1431. my

  1432. left

  1433. here

  1434. if you

  1435. just

  1436. give us

  1437. a

  1438. moment

  1439. for

  1440. that

  1441. as

  1442. Thank you.
