  1. We can turn back to where we read in Isaiah chapter 55.

    Isaiah 55 chapter mention

  2. ! We're going to look at the beginning of this chapter.

  3. ! Isaiah 55, reading at verse 1.

  4. Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters.

  5. And he who has no money, come, buy and eat.

  6. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price, and so on.

  7. When you sit at a meal, maybe it's at home or if you're eating out,

  8. one of the things that often takes place is you examine what's on the table.

  9. If you're eating at home, you'll make sure that everything that was prepared is out on the table.

  10. It's amazing how often it happens where after the meal is done,

  11. you find a dish in the oven that had been completely forgotten about.

  12. Or if you're eating out for a meal, a waiter will come round and ask you,

  13. have you got everything that you need?

  14. They make sure that everything that you've got is there to hand.

  15. Well, in a few weeks' time, on the weekend of the 15th of February,

  16. we'll be coming to sit at a meal here in the church.

  17. And a table will be prepared, and everything that we need will be ready at the table.

  18. And yet, when you look at this meal as we come to the Lord's Supper,

  19. you think to yourself, well, is that it?

  20. It looks so little, just wine and bread on a table.

  21. It doesn't look enough for us to live by,

  22. and yet there is everything that we need there.

  23. The table is prepared.

  24. There's no need for anybody to come round,

  25. and do you need anything else?

  26. It's all there prepared for us.

  27. It's the symbols that we see that matter.

  28. The wine and what it represents.

  29. The blood of Jesus Christ shed at the cross.

  30. And the bread showing us the body that was given for us.

  31. It is all there.

  32. And yet, maybe we think so little of it.

  33. We don't think about it, maybe, as we should.

  34. What do these things mean?

  35. What does it matter?

  36. Or there can be a fear about it.

  37. We think of ourselves and maybe our unworthiness to come

  38. and sit at the Lord's table,

  39. that I'm not good enough to be there.

  40. But what we have to look at is not ourselves,

  41. but to the Lord and to what he has done for us.

  42. Because the Lord's Supper is a remembrance.

  43. When we gather for a meal at home or in a restaurant,

  44. we often talk about maybe a variety of different things.

  45. There is chat going on.

  46. We can cover a lot of different subjects.

  47. But the Lord's Supper is only about one thing.

  48. And it's often in silence.

  49. We do it in remembrance of him.

  50. Where our focus is on what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us at the cross.

  51. How he came to give his life.

  52. How what we see promised throughout the scriptures is fulfilled in him.

  53. And so we are invited.

  54. We are invited to this meal.

  55. And that's what we're going to think about as we look at Isaiah chapter 55.

    Isaiah 55 chapter mention

  56. There is this great invitation that we are given at the beginning of this chapter.

  57. An invitation to a meal, to a feast.

  58. And we're going to look at it and look at it just in light of where we find it in the book of Isaiah.

  59. As you look at Isaiah 55,

  60. all you have to do is just step back two chapters to Isaiah 53.

  61. And we see how there Isaiah is talking about the very reason why our meal is going to take place.

  62. It's a prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ and what he would suffer on the cross.

  63. In Isaiah 53, verse 5, for example, there we read,

    Isaiah 53:5

  64. But he was wounded for our transgressions.

  65. He was crushed for our iniquities.

  66. Upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace.

  67. And with his stripes we are healed.

  68. All we like sheep have gone astray.

  69. We have turned everyone to his own way.

  70. And the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

  71. So there Isaiah was prophesying the word of God of what was going to take place at the cross.

  72. How he was wounded.

  73. How he was bruised.

  74. How he was crushed.

  75. The chastisement that brought us peace was upon him.

  76. He did all of this.

  77. We have gone astray.

  78. We have all turned to our own way.

  79. And yet when you come into chapter 54 and chapter 55,

  80. What you see is the Lord's gracious way towards his people.

  81. Invitations.

  82. Assurances in chapter 54 of the Lord's eternal covenant of peace.

  83. That he is one who seeks to bring that peace to his people.

  84. A peace that brought peace in verse 5 there of Isaiah 53.

  85. And then in Isaiah 55 there is this great invitation.

  86. Ho, it says in other translations,

  87. Listen, come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters.

  88. So there is this great invitation.

  89. The question is, will you come?

  90. Will you come?

  91. And so we are going to look at this passage under three headings.

  92. The first thing we see is the setting.

  93. The kind of setting these words speak about.

  94. Then we see the offer that is given.

  95. And then we see finally the price that is mentioned.

  96. These are three things that when we are thinking of having a meal together,

  97. We often think about where are we going to go?

  98. What setting?

  99. What place are we going to go to?

  100. The offer.

  101. What are we going to have?

  102. And what is often the case is, well, how much is it going to cost?

  103. That's what Isaiah is speaking about here.

  104. So the first thing we see is the setting.

  105. Isaiah's role as a prophet,

  106. As with every prophet we read of in the Old Testament,

  107. Was never an easy role.

  108. The prophet was often met with opposition.

  109. He was bringing God's word to the people,

  110. But the people were so often rejecting it and rejecting God.

  111. And we see it again and again.

  112. And Isaiah is no different.

  113. When you read from the beginning of Isaiah through to chapter 40,

  114. What you find is the prophet giving warning.

  115. You think everything is okay, he's saying,

  116. But disaster is coming upon us.

  117. Invasion is coming upon us.

  118. Captivity is coming our way, but they were not listening.

  119. But then from Isaiah 40 onwards,

  120. You see that that has come upon them.

  121. But yet there is still God speaking to them.

  122. God calling a people back to himself.

  123. But this call, as you see, is in the midst of other calls.

  124. Many other calls going on.

  125. And that's what the setting of Isaiah is here.

  126. The imagery of Isaiah 55,

  127. When we're seeing this,

  128. This ho, as it says in other translations,

  129. Or come, and come is often repeated.

  130. Hear, listen.

  131. Listen, the setting here for Isaiah would be one like a marketplace.

  132. When Isaiah is just one voice shouting out to the people

  133. In the midst of lots of other voices calling for their attention.

  134. Everyone knows what we need.

  135. That's not the reality of the world in which we live in.

  136. That's what a marketplace is like.

  137. Everyone is calling for your attention.

  138. I don't know if you've ever been to a large marketplace.

  139. Remember when I was in college in Glasgow,

  140. My late teens.

  141. Going along, was in the Nautical College,

  142. Which wasn't far from the Barrowlands.

  143. Going along there one Saturday to the market that was the Barrowlands.

  144. And it was something to behold when you're seeing

  145. All of these people just calling for your attention.

  146. All the great bargains they've got.

  147. Everything that you need to make your life better.

  148. They're calling out for your attention.

  149. And it's just one voice after another.

  150. This is the kind of setting that Isaiah is talking about here.

  151. He is just one voice in the midst of many other voices

  152. That are calling out for the people's attention.

  153. That's the setting of our own lives as well.

  154. Everybody knows what we need.

  155. But do you know what you need?

  156. Have you thought about,

  157. What do I really need in life?

  158. What is important?

  159. Where will my peace, my joy ultimately be found?

  160. Is it in all of these voices that are calling for my attention from the world?

  161. Or is it in this voice of God?

  162. A voice that is speaking as we hear it here today.

  163. Calling for our attention.

  164. Who are we listening to?

  165. What are we listening to?

  166. There was a story of a rich businessman

  167. Who was walking down by a harbour one day.

  168. Some fishing boats had come in after being out early fishing

  169. And had landed their catch.

  170. And as this businessman was walking around

  171. He saw one fisherman just sitting lazily on his boat.

  172. And he decided to ask him a few questions.

  173. And he said,

  174. Why aren't you still out fishing?

  175. And the fisherman replied,

  176. Well because I've caught enough for the day.

  177. I was out early.

  178. Caught and landed my catch.

  179. I got enough for the day.

  180. And so the businessman asked him,

  181. Well why don't you catch more fish than you need?

  182. And the fisherman replied by saying,

  183. Well what am I going to do with them?

  184. Well he said,

  185. You could sell them and make more money.

  186. And as you make more money

  187. You could get a better boat.

  188. You could go out further,

  189. Catch more fish.

  190. You could then buy better equipment

  191. That would help you catch even more fish

  192. And make even more money.

  193. And as you make more money

  194. You could buy a fleet of boats.

  195. And then the fisherman asked him and said,

  196. Then what would I do?

  197. Well he said,

  198. Then you could sit down and enjoy life.

  199. To which the fisherman replied,

  200. Well what do you think I'm doing now?

  201. Perspective is so often the key.

  202. What do we need in life?

  203. When the voices are all clamoring in our minds

  204. To say this is what you need.

  205. That's what you need.

  206. This is what you've got to do.

  207. Are we seeking just more and more and more?

  208. Or are we thinking to ourselves,

  209. Am I fulfilled in life right now?

  210. Do I have that peace with God?

  211. Not the peace of just being,

  212. As it were,

  213. Lazily sitting around.

  214. But the peace of knowing

  215. That the Lord is my refuge.

  216. The Lord is my redeemer.

  217. Because the voices of this world

  218. Clamor for us

  219. To seek our rest and our peace

  220. In everything else

  221. Apart from God.

  222. We spend our time

  223. Making money

  224. And all of these things.

  225. And this is what Isaiah

  226. Is speaking about here

  227. In verse 2 you see,

  228. Why do you spend your money

  229. For that which is not bread

  230. And your labor

  231. For that which does not satisfy?

  232. Why are you purchasing

  233. The things that don't matter?

  234. The things that aren't

  235. Really important in this life.

  236. They are not the things

  237. That are going to give you satisfaction.

  238. They are not the things

  239. That are going to give you peace.

  240. Or your pursuits.

  241. Why do you labor?

  242. Why do you work?

  243. For that which does not satisfy.

  244. When you keep going after everything

  245. Thinking this is what is going

  246. To give me peace.

  247. This is what is going to give me satisfaction.

  248. But we are always just chasing

  249. After the wrong thing.

  250. Do you know that God knows

  251. Your heart

  252. Better than you know it yourself.

  253. And that is why God

  254. Speaks to this day.

  255. God didn't abandon his people

  256. In Isaiah's day

  257. And he has not abandoned us today either.

  258. He is still speaking to us.

  259. And he knows exactly

  260. What you need.

  261. But what is your heart saying

  262. To God?

  263. What is your reaction

  264. To God's word?

  265. When you make phone calls

  266. Phoning a big company

  267. For example

  268. When you start the phone call

  269. They will often say

  270. Your calls are monitored

  271. Recorded for training

  272. And monitoring purposes.

  273. I always thought

  274. This was just a nonsense.

  275. Who is going to monitor

  276. All of these calls

  277. That are coming in

  278. Until this week

  279. I had to phone

  280. One of these companies

  281. And explain

  282. That something was wrong

  283. With an agreement

  284. That I had made.

  285. And they said

  286. Well leave it with us

  287. And we will go back

  288. And listen to your call

  289. Which was about

  290. Six weeks ago.

  291. And I thought

  292. There is no way

  293. That they are going

  294. To have this recorded

  295. But I got a phone call

  296. A few days later

  297. Saying

  298. We have listened to the call

  299. We have heard what was said

  300. And you are right

  301. You did not get

  302. What was agreed

  303. And we will amend that

  304. And I thought to myself

  305. How many calls

  306. Do they get?

  307. And they were able

  308. To go back

  309. And find my one call

  310. Listen to it

  311. And change it.

  312. But when we think

  313. Of God like that

  314. We think well

  315. He knows everything

  316. He knows every thought

  317. Every conversation

  318. Everything that has come to mind

  319. No matter how long ago it was

  320. Maybe you were a child

  321. And you were thinking

  322. I love the Lord

  323. And I just want to come

  324. And profess my faith in Him

  325. But now you are thinking

  326. Oh I have gone so far away

  327. I can't

  328. God knows your heart

  329. And maybe God today

  330. Is speaking to you

  331. In that very situation

  332. And reminding you

  333. That that heart

  334. Is still not so far away

  335. From God

  336. That He cannot speak

  337. That He is speaking

  338. To you

  339. Everything that we do

  340. And say is monitored

  341. By God

  342. He knows

  343. But the key is

  344. He knows your heart today

  345. And as I say

  346. I am speaking to the people

  347. Here

  348. He is speaking to their heart

  349. To see

  350. Where is your heart lying

  351. In all of these voices

  352. That are calling to you

  353. What are you doing

  354. With them

  355. Well the second thing

  356. We see here

  357. Is the offer

  358. The offer that is

  359. Is made

  360. And I say

  361. Here is something

  362. You must have

  363. Come everyone who thirsts

  364. Come to the waters

  365. And he who has no money

  366. Come buy and eat

  367. Come buy wine and milk

  368. Without money

  369. And without price

  370. He is saying

  371. Everything that you need

  372. Is here for you

  373. Come and receive it

  374. Every human

  375. In this world

  376. Has a common need

  377. And that is

  378. A thirst

  379. That needs

  380. To be quenched

  381. It's a physical thirst

  382. So often

  383. That we have

  384. You know what it's like

  385. When you're getting thirsty

  386. You just need

  387. To get a drink

  388. A drink of water

  389. To quench

  390. That thirst

  391. But here I see

  392. I was talking about

  393. A spiritual thirst

  394. A thirst

  395. For the things

  396. Of God

  397. And our thirst

  398. In this world

  399. Is so often

  400. Just like those voices

  401. Calling to us

  402. They are there

  403. To seek to quench

  404. That thirst

  405. But the more

  406. We just listen

  407. To the world

  408. And everything

  409. That's going on

  410. Around us

  411. That thirst

  412. Isn't going

  413. Away

  414. That thirst

  415. Is never

  416. Satisfied

  417. But God

  418. Is saying

  419. Here

  420. Here is something

  421. That can quench

  422. Your thirst

  423. Here is something

  424. That can satisfy

  425. You

  426. Because in the midst

  427. Of everything else

  428. Clamoring

  429. For our attention

  430. When God speaks

  431. He gives us

  432. A different kind

  433. Of thirst

  434. When God works

  435. By his spirit

  436. In our heart

  437. He gives us

  438. A new desire

  439. For something else

  440. Something better

  441. And we realise

  442. That there is

  443. Something missing

  444. There is something

  445. Lacking

  446. In our lives

  447. That nothing

  448. In this world

  449. Can satisfy

  450. All of these voices

  451. That we've been

  452. Listening to

  453. All the time

  454. Are thirst

  455. Is still there

  456. But Isaiah is saying

  457. You've tried

  458. All these things

  459. Come

  460. Come

  461. To the waters

  462. Come

  463. To what can

  464. Truly

  465. Satisfy you

  466. A desire

  467. Grows

  468. Within us

  469. When the Lord

  470. Is working

  471. In our hearts

  472. And we begin

  473. To realise

  474. That it is only

  475. Through him

  476. That this thirst

  477. Can be satisfied

  478. We have this

  479. This movement

  480. As it is called

  481. This quiet revival

  482. That people are

  483. Talking about

  484. Around our nation

  485. Where many people

  486. Are coming back

  487. To church

  488. Many people

  489. Are enquiring

  490. About the Christian

  491. Faith

  492. Why

  493. Because through

  494. Everything

  495. They are not

  496. Getting their

  497. Thirst

  498. Quenched

  499. There is still

  500. Something

  501. Missing

  502. And so

  503. It is the same

  504. With us

  505. When we are

  506. Without Christ

  507. There is always

  508. Going to be

  509. Something

  510. Missing

  511. But here

  512. Is the offer

  513. Here is something

  514. That you must

  515. Hear

  516. Throughout

  517. These verses

  518. A phrase

  519. Is repeated

  520. That is really

  521. Saying the same

  522. Thing

  523. It is about

  524. Listening

  525. Like I said

  526. Earlier

  527. That word

  528. Come

  529. At the very

  530. First word

  531. Of the chapter

  532. It is often

  533. Translated

  534. Ho

  535. It is just

  536. This word

  537. Grabbing

  538. For your

  539. Attention

  540. Seeking

  541. Your attention

  542. And so

  543. Isaiah

  544. Goes on

  545. And he speaks

  546. About

  547. Listen

  548. Diligently

  549. Hear

  550. He uses

  551. All these words

  552. Incline

  553. Your ear

  554. It is all

  555. About

  556. Listen

  557. Listen

  558. Listen

  559. And what

  560. Are you

  561. Listening

  562. To

  563. You think

  564. About going

  565. Out

  566. Eating

  567. In cities

  568. In our

  569. Own nation

  570. Or in other

  571. Parts of the

  572. World

  573. Very often

  574. There is people

  575. Out on the

  576. Street

  577. They are all

  578. Calling again

  579. For your

  580. Attention

  581. Come

  582. Come to

  583. This restaurant

  584. Come try

  585. This food

  586. Everybody says

  587. They have got

  588. The best

  589. Well here I

  590. Say in the

  591. Midst of all

  592. These other

  593. Voices

  594. They are saying

  595. Come

  596. Come and see

  597. What I have

  598. On offer

  599. Come to

  600. The water

  601. Come without

  602. Money

  603. Come without

  604. Price

  605. Buy wine

  606. And milk

  607. Without money

  608. And without

  609. Price

  610. Do you have

  611. That thirst

  612. In your soul

  613. Today

  614. Have you been

  615. One of these

  616. Ones who has

  617. Been trying

  618. To fulfill

  619. Everything in

  620. This by

  621. Listening to

  622. This world

  623. This is going

  624. To quench

  625. That thirst

  626. Finally I am

  627. Going to have

  628. Peace

  629. And it is

  630. Still not

  631. There

  632. Well the

  633. Lord

  634. Speaks

  635. To us

  636. All

  637. And he

  638. Asks

  639. Well what

  640. Is important

  641. What is

  642. Your priority

  643. He says

  644. Here is

  645. Water

  646. Here is

  647. What

  648. Gives

  649. Life

  650. To us

  651. Here is

  652. Wine

  653. Here is

  654. Milk

  655. Here is

  656. Everything

  657. That we

  658. Need

  659. For life

  660. To the

  661. Full

  662. When you

  663. Think of

  664. These three

  665. Things

  666. Water

  667. And bread

  668. They were

  669. Often just

  670. The staple

  671. Things for

  672. Everybody to

  673. Have

  674. Wine

  675. And milk

  676. They were

  677. Extravagant

  678. But yet

  679. Here he is

  680. Saying you

  681. Can have

  682. All of

  683. These

  684. Things

  685. It is

  686. All there

  687. For you

  688. He offers

  689. Us all

  690. That we

  691. Need

  692. And that

  693. Is true

  694. Today

  695. As well

  696. The offer

  697. Of salvation

  698. In Jesus

  699. Christ

  700. Is like

  701. What we

  702. Have

  703. In the

  704. Offer

  705. Here

  706. Come

  707. To the

  708. Waters

  709. Come

  710. By wine

  711. And milk

  712. Everything

  713. That was

  714. Essential

  715. Water

  716. In the

  717. Scriptures

  718. Is often

  719. Either seen

  720. As the

  721. Life

  722. Giving

  723. Spirit

  724. Of God

  725. Wine

  726. Is seen

  727. As something

  728. That gives

  729. Joy

  730. And milk

  731. Is often

  732. Described as

  733. What we need

  734. To sustain

  735. Is often

  736. Described as

  737. The word

  738. Of God

  739. So here

  740. We are

  741. Saying that

  742. Everything

  743. That we

  744. Need

  745. Is found

  746. Here

  747. The Lord

  748. Has given

  749. Us

  750. His

  751. Spirit

  752. He has

  753. Given us

  754. That joy

  755. That is

  756. Found in

  757. Him

  758. He has

  759. Given us

  760. His word

  761. He has

  762. Given us

  763. Everything

  764. That we

  765. Need

  766. So that

  767. As we

  768. Look at

  769. The table

  770. Of the

  771. Lord's

  772. Set

  773. The bread

  774. And the

  775. Wine

  776. It may

  777. Look

  778. Very

  779. Little

  780. But it

  781. Is

  782. Everything

  783. It is

  784. Everything

  785. That we

  786. Need

  787. He offers

  788. It

  789. To us

  790. So the

  791. Offer

  792. Is there

  793. For us

  794. It is

  795. There for

  796. You

  797. Today

  798. The final

  799. Thing we

  800. See here

  801. Is

  802. What is

  803. The price

  804. And this

  805. Is often

  806. The thing

  807. That when

  808. We go

  809. Out to

  810. Eat

  811. Especially

  812. We go

  813. Along

  814. Maybe a

  815. Street

  816. And we

  817. Are looking

  818. At the

  819. Menu

  820. We don't

  821. Look at

  822. What the

  823. Food

  824. Is

  825. Very often

  826. We look

  827. At what

  828. The price

  829. Is

  830. How much

  831. Is this

  832. Going to

  833. Cost

  834. Well that's

  835. The obvious

  836. Question that

  837. They would

  838. Have in

  839. Isaiah's

  840. Day as

  841. Well

  842. What's

  843. All this

  844. Going to

  845. Cost

  846. How much

  847. Well

  848. What does

  849. He say

  850. Here

  851. Come

  852. Everyone who

  853. Thirst

  854. Come

  855. To the

  856. Waters

  857. And he

  858. Who has

  859. No money

  860. Come

  861. Buy

  862. And eat

  863. How

  864. How can

  865. You possibly

  866. Come and

  867. Buy and

  868. Eat

  869. Without

  870. Money

  871. It

  872. Wouldn't

  873. Wash

  874. If you're

  875. Going out

  876. To a

  877. Restaurant

  878. I don't

  879. Have

  880. Money

  881. That's

  882. Okay

  883. Just

  884. Come in

  885. And

  886. Eat

  887. Well I'm

  888. Sorry you

  889. Wouldn't

  890. Get in

  891. If you

  892. Don't

  893. Have

  894. Money

  895. And yet

  896. Here

  897. It is

  898. All about

  899. Coming

  900. No price

  901. No money

  902. Doesn't

  903. Matter

  904. It's all

  905. Taken

  906. Care

  907. Of

  908. The world

  909. Makes you

  910. Pay

  911. For everything

  912. And yet

  913. What is on

  914. Offer for

  915. Us

  916. Here

  917. Today

  918. Is without

  919. Money

  920. Without

  921. Price

  922. It is

  923. Free

  924. Free

  925. For us

  926. God

  927. Doesn't

  928. Require

  929. Money

  930. Of us

  931. He doesn't

  932. Require

  933. Ourselves

  934. To be

  935. Good

  936. And

  937. Righteous

  938. Of

  939. Ourselves

  940. He doesn't

  941. Require

  942. Our good

  943. Works

  944. Or any

  945. Other

  946. Resource

  947. To

  948. Come

  949. He says

  950. Come

  951. Without

  952. Any

  953. Of

  954. These

  955. Things

  956. So how

  957. Can he

  958. Make such

  959. An

  960. Offer

  961. How can

  962. Make such

  963. An

  964. Offer

  965. To

  966. Us

  967. Surely

  968. There

  969. Is a

  970. Price

  971. That

  972. Was

  973. Paid

  974. Well of

  975. Course

  976. There

  977. Is

  978. Because

  979. That's

  980. What the

  981. Lord's

  982. Supper

  983. Is all

  984. About

  985. It's

  986. Do

  987. This

  988. In

  989. Remembrance

  990. Of me

  991. all. Jesus paid it all. All to him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.

  992. Jesus paid it all. The price has been paid. Is the Lord working in your heart? In all the voices

  993. that are going on around us, is his voice being heard in your heart? He is saying, come.

  994. He is saying, come. Will you? There was a mission going on many years ago on New Year's Day,

  995. 1886. The mission was to take place in a hall. Before the mission was to start, they were

  996. out on the streets, a group singing some psalms and hymns and a message being given. And after

  997. they had finished singing the last song and a message had been given, they started to make

  998. their way back to the hall. Some people had been listening in the passing, but one young

  999. woman had listened to the man speak the gospel. And as they were walking back, this woman came

1000. up behind the man and called out to him. And she said, I heard you addressing the open

1001. air meeting just now. And this is what she said, do you think, sir, that Jesus could save

1002. a sinner like me? Is that your question today? Do you think Jesus could save a sinner like me?

1003. Well, the answer is, of course he can. And that's what this invitation is for. It's not for the perfect.

1004. It's not for those who have everything sorted. It is for sinners such as we are, that we might

1005. come and see a Savior who has paid the price. Jesus paid it all. All to him I owe. Will you come?

  1006. Let us pray.

1007. Lord, our gracious God, we do thank you that in Christ Jesus we have one who has done all for his

1008. people. Nothing is left short. There is nothing that we can give that would make any difference,

1009. but just to see the price is paid and the offer is there before us. So, Lord, may your word bless our

1010. hearts today. May it speak to us. May it challenge us. May it direct us to the one who came to save

1011. sinners such as we are. And as we even think now of preparing for another communion season, as we think

1012. of preparing to come to do this in remembrance of him, may our hearts be stirred up not to look at

1013. ourselves, but to look on him who was pierced for our transgressions. Hear our prayers and go before us.

1014. We ask all in his precious name. Amen.

1015. We'll conclude by singing to God's praise in Psalm 67. Sing Psalm's version. Psalm 67.

1016. We'll sing the whole of this Psalm. Page 84 of the Psalm books.

1017. God be merciful and bless us. Shine upon us with your face, that the earth may know your actions and all

1018. lands your saving grace. We'll stand to sing the whole of this Psalm to God's praise.

1019. God be merciful and bless us. Shine upon us with your face, that the earth may know your actions and all

1020. and all lands your saving grace. O God, may the peoples praise you. May all peoples sing your praise.

1021. For you judge the nations justly, ruling over every race. May they sing with joy and gladness. May they all

1022. rejoice as one. O God, may the peoples praise you. As they all unite in song. Then the land will yield its harvest.

1023. God will pour his gifts abroad. God, our God, will surely bless us. All the earth will fear our God.

1024. After the benediction, I'll go to the main door. We'll close with the benediction.

1025. Now may grace, mercy and peace from God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit rest upon and abide with you all now and forevermore. Amen.

  1026. Amen.

  1027. Amen.

  1028. Amen.

  1029. Amen.

  1030. Amen.

  1031. Amen.

  1032. Amen.

  1033. Thank you.
