  1. Hello and welcome to this week's episode of Trinity

  2. Talks. My name is Kyla and I'm really excited

  3. to be joined by three of the young adults here

  4. at Trinity who also all happen to be... heading

  5. up our young adults ministry here. And we're

  6. going to chat a little bit more about what that

  7. looks like and what it is like to be a young

  8. adult in the church today. So thank you so much

  9. for joining me, folks. Thank you. Thanks for

  10. inviting us. So maybe we'll just start by you

  11. can introduce yourself a little bit, sort of

  12. say your name, whatever you'd like to sort of

  13. say about yourself. And then what sort of really

  14. got you interested in helping to coordinate this

  15. young adults ministry? Maybe we will start right

  16. here. Sure. My name is Zion. And I used to be

  17. the youth leader here. So some of you may know

  18. me. But I recently stepped down from that position

  19. because I just graduated from school. I was looking

  20. for a different job. And so part of what led

  21. me to want to volunteer when Rob asked me was

  22. because I was kind of missing my church involvement.

  23. So being able to step in and fill in. for this

  24. role with the experience that I already had of

  25. you know how to communicate with some of the

  26. people around in the Trinity community and kind

  27. of how that whole process works kind of just

  28. made sense and it's something that I enjoy doing

  29. I love hanging out with the young adults and

  30. in my church community so yeah okay cool thank

  31. you yeah what about for you hey I'm Eileen I

  32. only went to Trinity Probably since summer 2025.

  33. So that's so recent. The reason why I want to

  34. be involved in this ministry is that I just love

  35. organizations and like hanging out with people

  36. my age. And I've always been involved in like

  37. ministry since I was a baby practically back

  38. home too. So I thought it would be cool to like

  39. sort of like find my own place here and like

  40. to know people and get. deeply involved in the

  41. church. So that's why I said yes when Sally and

  42. Rob asked me to coordinate this. And what about

  43. for you? Hi, I'm Chris. I'm actually, I think,

  44. one of the youngest young adults. So coming out

  45. of the high school age and going into the young

  46. adult age and getting into university, I think

  47. it's a big change for all of us. And Sally actually

  48. talked to me about this, and she said this was

  49. one of the main reasons that she asked me to

  50. be a part of leading the young adults ministry,

  51. just because it can be scary going from one group

  52. to a different group. And it's really important

  53. for all of us to have a community, especially

  54. a solid, fixed one where we meet regularly and

  55. we become familiar with each other really well

  56. and comfortable enough to share and talk about.

  57. anything that may be going on in our lives. So

  58. I think that was a big reason. Also, just like

  59. Eileen and Zion, I've been a part of ministries

  60. my whole life. So I think this is a great way

  61. to get into a new one, which will, you know,

  62. bring us all closer together in our age group.

  63. Yeah, no, that's awesome. Yeah, I think it's

  64. neat. Like you all have sort of come to Trinity

  65. like at different times, but you're all coming

  66. like with this wealth of experience and with,

  67. yeah, a desire to just like. Get to know each

  68. other, which I think is awesome. Yeah. So what

  69. does the Young Adults Ministry at Trinity look

  70. like? What are some of the types of things that

  71. you folks do? Yeah. So far we've been doing a

  72. social once a month. Okay. Since I think it was

  73. June. Okay. June or July. It was in the summer.

  74. End of summer. Yeah. Oh. Maybe. Anyways, not

  75. important. We've been doing socials once a month.

  76. We have an Instagram page just for the young

  77. adults where we post polls about different activities

  78. that we could do for that month, and then they

  79. vote on it, and then they also get four to five

  80. dates that they can choose from, and then whatever

  81. works for the most people, we arrange that and

  82. communicate that through our Instagram, and we

  83. have a massive group chat with everyone also.

  84. And then recently we started doing... small group

  85. also which we focus more on like um actual bible

  86. stuff and talking about the sermons whereas these

  87. once a month socials are just just social just

  88. like just find out yeah and get to know everyone

  89. yeah okay cool yeah so what are some of the things

  90. that you folks have done like as part of the

  91. different social events that you're doing it's

  92. like very connected to the season okay like during

  93. the summer we did like a pool party yeah a pool

  94. party and then what else like oh the bonfire

  95. night okay that was fun yeah it's like so random

  96. but i feel like this is the beauty of like being

  97. in a young adults ministry that because we are

  98. just like super busy with our schedules and everyone

  99. goes to different school in different cities

  100. and um it's just the trend changes every season

  101. every year so i think we try to follow with that

  102. like to see like what's fun nowadays and what

  103. the people are doing so we sort of like try to

  104. hear from the people. Again, we have a big group

  105. chat where we sort of ask for people's opinions

  106. on what to do next. So I think that's pretty

  107. cool. That's pretty laid back at the same time.

  108. Cool. Yeah. We also did like pumpkin carving

  109. in October. And gingerbread in December. And

  110. in January, our most recent one, we did a worship

  111. night. Okay. So that was fun too because we were

  112. getting some feedback that yes, the social nights

  113. are great because we all want community and connection.

  114. But we're also kind of maybe missing out a little

  115. bit on like the God aspect and, and that whole

  116. side of things. So that's why we also started

  117. our life group, um, which none of us are technically

  118. like leading, but we, we go to, um, so yeah,

  119. that was nice to incorporate. And our, our next

  120. event, not official. First time. Air riders.

  121. Yeah. We're going to air riders. Oh, fun. Hopefully

  122. that'll be exciting. Nice. So do you have like

  123. a favorite memory or a favorite like event that

  124. you've done so far? Something that like stands

  125. out to you? Sounds like there's been lots of

  126. different things. Yeah. Yeah. Chris? I think

  127. our gingerbread night. Okay. It was really good.

  128. Yeah. And it was like, it was fun because it

  129. was kind of, it was a competition. Okay. So we

  130. had like different groups, but then we also like

  131. got together. Right. And, you know. Mm -hmm.

  132. We just collaborated the entire time. Oh, and

  133. we had a great game night afterwards. So that

  134. was fun. So we all got in a big group afterwards

  135. and just played games, cards, and stuff. Describe

  136. for me the winning gingerbread house. What did

  137. this gingerbread house look like? I think that

  138. was Aileen's, right? That was me. That was me

  139. and Mia and Alex, if I remember correctly. We

  140. finished so quick. I think we finished our gingerbread

  141. house the quickest like we did in 30 minutes.

  142. The best one with the least effort. Right? Yeah.

  143. Sometimes you just don't have to think about

  144. it. Yeah. But I think everyone had lovely gingerbread

  145. houses. I think Crystal did like a very detailed

  146. and like intrinsic. um design okay she was like

  147. super passionate about it with her team too yeah

  148. rylan got into it right yeah maya got into it

  149. and zion on the other hand ours didn't go so

  150. well our icing was like broken like we couldn't

  151. get it out properly but we still got second place

  152. it was totally rigged okay right well you know

  153. it was fun right yeah Cool. Cool. Yeah. What

  154. about for you folks? What are some like favorite

  155. memories or things that you've enjoyed? My favorite

  156. like social gathering was probably the pool party.

  157. Okay. But most recently I've really been enjoying

  158. the life group too, because it's just more consistent

  159. and it's kind of like a mix between getting time

  160. to like review the sermon questions and have

  161. some Bible study time, but still also being silly

  162. and. seeing all my friends and stuff. Sure. Yeah.

  163. Sharing lunch together. Right. Three birds with

  164. one stone. There you go. So food, friends, and

  165. Jesus. Yes. That's all you need. Love that. Okay.

  166. Yeah. What about for you, Eileen? Any favorite

  167. memories? I agree with that. And I actually really

  168. like the new life group because I think with

  169. the life group, we have the chance to talk. with

  170. each other like every single person we get to

  171. know each person more deeply than just like having

  172. a big social night so i really like that for

  173. us and we also get to know like each other's

  174. personality because we go in circles and like

  175. ask questions um also um we get to um talk about

  176. like more casual daily life because we meet every

  177. week so i think that's like a great way to connect

  178. and sort of like build connection a real connection

  179. with everyone and like a more deeper basis sure

  180. yeah yeah oh that's awesome are there things

  181. like from those conversations together like is

  182. there any like learnings or things that have

  183. like really stood out to you or been really impactful

  184. i know you've only been meeting for a few weeks

  185. now right but yeah what's what's that been like

  186. i feel like yes but i forgot what they were Moderately

  187. impactful. Obviously hearing about different

  188. people's perspectives, especially since some

  189. of the people in our group are like international

  190. students. So we get to hear like different perspectives

  191. that I never even thought of because I was born

  192. in Streetsville. Right. I've been here my whole

  193. life. Yeah. So just like hearing like stories

  194. and being able to like, like Eileen said, like

  195. get actually personal with each other. I think

  196. like more than any like specific teachings or

  197. anything. Sure. Like. feeling the actual connection

  198. and like the friendship and like being able to

  199. share with each other and openly like express

  200. our feelings and even if it's good or bad anything

  201. I think that's the most impactful for me at least

  202. because yeah the sense of community is I really

  203. feel it already even though it's been like two

  204. or three weeks yeah yeah no that's awesome like

  205. just yeah that need to like go deeper with each

  206. other and like yeah I get to figure out all of

  207. life and and faith and all the hard things you

  208. just get to like throw it there together definitely

  209. yeah for sure and i think i'd like to sorry i'd

  210. like to add to that from my perspective because

  211. i'm an international student so this is only

  212. my third year in canada so i'm like freshly very

  213. fall be fresh of the boat um so for me for me

  214. this is like my first true real canadian experience

  215. where i am finally really immersed in my society

  216. like my surroundings so i get to know how is

  217. it like living life here and how people that

  218. like grew up here interact with their family

  219. and their friends and how like the education

  220. is in here and how like they perceive their social

  221. community beside them surrounding them so I feel

  222. like that's really cool. Also like to practice

  223. like my, you know, sometimes there are just like

  224. some certain lingo or like some social context,

  225. like communal context that you just don't really

  226. get until you are in full for the people. So

  227. for me, actually, it's like a very big opportunity

  228. for me to practice. I wouldn't say practice,

  229. but like to actually get to know the Canadian

  230. culture. Sure. And how. Yeah, and how people

  231. my age especially live here. So that's been really

  232. interesting. So I literally have friends who

  233. are from here now. Right. So that's pretty new

  234. for me. Because in school, everybody is also

  235. international, so it's very hard to get a good

  236. grasp of what the city is. But I think in the

  237. heart of Streetsville, I finally know how people

  238. live here. Right. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty cool.

  239. It's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. So... um like why do

  240. you think it's important for young adults to

  241. have a space to gather like in a church context

  242. as opposed to you know just like at school or

  243. wherever else in the world like what makes it

  244. special about like being part of this here um

  245. yeah i mean every day there's like awful things

  246. released on the news yeah and it's so depressing

  247. and it's really hard to talk about especially

  248. like just like with your your friends you know

  249. that you have in school everything everyone's

  250. already stressed out from school sure and then

  251. there's just there's lots of there's lots of

  252. negativity right now going around in the world

  253. and so I find that at least for me my friends

  254. like out of church don't really like talking

  255. about that kind of stuff that's happening in

  256. the world, just because they're like, you know

  257. what, we need to just chill out and watch a movie,

  258. a funny movie or something like that. But I think

  259. the community that we have here and the fact

  260. that we're so comfortable with each other in

  261. church and, you know, obviously church is all

  262. about addressing the uncomfortable topics and,

  263. you know, overcoming them with the people around

  264. you and the community around you. I think it's

  265. been a lot easier for us, for me to open up.

  266. to my church friends about that and i think i

  267. think that's why it's so important that we have

  268. this group because otherwise without without

  269. talking to you guys about this who else am i

  270. going to talk to in about and i'm going to get

  271. even more overwhelmed and just build and build

  272. sure it's so nice to be able to share with people

  273. like -minded people here yeah yeah just like

  274. grounded in the same values and yeah yeah just

  275. that willingness to talk about the hard things

  276. definitely yeah for sure yeah and also it gives

  277. me like a reason to go to church because for

  278. me i don't have any family here so if i go to

  279. church it would just like me getting up by myself

  280. and going to church sure so sometimes it could

  281. get a little lonely or like i would say like

  282. quote -unquote like pointless if i just like

  283. go to church and like go home and like know what

  284. right now that we have a community we have a

  285. sense of like um belonging and we have friends

  286. that we actually know and we talk with after

  287. church it gives like a little more um reason

  288. to just like wake up in the morning and go to

  289. church because church isn't just like about the

  290. doctrine or just like um listening to the sermons

  291. and like taking notes but it's more to like how

  292. we apply it to like everyday life and people

  293. so we get to practice the gospel there and yeah

  294. it's always good to have like a sense of belonging

  295. and community and like a place where um especially

  296. nowadays not a lot of young adults are known

  297. for being in church so that's really like tricky

  298. because like not a lot of young adults are in

  299. church unfortunately so i think with having people

  300. my age that i can relate to that so um we can

  301. still talk about the gospel but also at the same

  302. time have the same contextual um contextual feeling

  303. like we have the same humor for example we have

  304. the same conversations that we talk about like

  305. school and work so I feel like those really help

  306. us to stay in church so that's really important

  307. yeah for sure for sure community is yeah it's

  308. just such an important part of like what we do

  309. here and so to be able to like find your people

  310. right is super important and it's nice we started

  311. sitting together in the same room that's so funny

  312. yeah the small group right after the second service,

  313. we're kind of all pushed to come to the same

  314. service at the same time. We end up sitting together

  315. and just going down together. So that's been

  316. nice. Yeah, our own row in the back. Especially

  317. because young adults are always late and we're

  318. slowly coming in. Yeah, we're just right in the

  319. back. So the back row is pretty much the key

  320. for that. But back to your original question,

  321. I also like the fact that we meet. at the church

  322. and know that we have this like safe space that

  323. we can come to. And like some of you said already,

  324. like we, and Kyla mentioned, we have like the

  325. same values and we're able to be supported by

  326. people who have a faith background, which I think

  327. is really important because you don't always

  328. get that with some of your other friends and

  329. you can have different types of conversations

  330. and support and grow in that part of your life

  331. as well. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. So when you think

  332. about like, you know, Being a young adult trying

  333. to follow Jesus today, what are some of the challenging

  334. parts of that? What are some of the things that

  335. make that frustrating or hard at different points?

  336. Oh, I think it's like very undeniable that Christianity

  337. has unfortunately been used to justify a lot

  338. of bad things in the past. Sure. So I think that's

  339. sort of why like the younger generation, we sort

  340. of think like, oh, you know, Christianity is

  341. evil. And so it's like really uncool that you're

  342. super traditional, the quote unquote, and like

  343. you are still like abiding to the thing that

  344. people used to like hurt others. So that could

  345. be a little bit tricky because. it could get

  346. complicated. Like we can just like sit down,

  347. sit someone down and say like, look, Christianity

  348. isn't always bad. So it's like always very like

  349. tricky for us. So a lot of young adults nowadays,

  350. they just like shove it down and like, oh, like

  351. I'm a Christian, but like, yeah, let's not talk

  352. about it. So it could be deemed as like uncool

  353. if you're still like. practicing christian nowadays

  354. so those are definitely very challenging so we

  355. tend to like hide our identity as a christian

  356. but i totally get it like i'm not saying like

  357. christianity is like a hundred percent like pure

  358. and like like like we're always like up to something

  359. good but like unfortunately some people are um

  360. people are people and people and people so um

  361. yeah um yeah like I totally get it, like, both

  362. sides of this coin. But, so that's the tricky

  363. part, I think. Yeah, for sure. What do you guys

  364. think? Yeah. I think it's hard sometimes, just

  365. to be honest, to, like, make it to all the events.

  366. Sure, that too. Because we have young adults,

  367. our social is usually on, like, a weekend. Yeah.

  368. And then we have... School. School and work.

  369. And then we have our, like, pretty much Sunday

  370. is, like, until Sunday, like... The better part

  371. of Sunday is also taken out because now we have

  372. our young adults group, which is, it's fine.

  373. These are all great things. We all like coming

  374. out. It's just that it's like. It's just like

  375. another thing. Sometimes it's not viable enough.

  376. Especially if you have exams coming up. Yeah.

  377. Stressful. Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure. For sure.

  378. Yeah. There's a lot going on. Definitely. Right.

  379. Yeah. Yeah. Those were kind of the two things

  380. that I was thinking, too. Like, to add to what

  381. Eileen was saying about, like, Christians don't

  382. always have the best rep right now. Yep. Like,

  383. I went to a young adult's conference, like, worship

  384. night or something. This was, like, a year ago

  385. now or something like that. Maybe even two. Like,

  386. it was in March at some point. Okay. So, March.

  387. But, yeah, I was with, like, a group of friends.

  388. One friend was like, oh, I can finally find a

  389. nice Christian man. And I was like, oh, yeah,

  390. that's true. I was like, wait a minute. How are

  391. you going to do that? We're surrounded by Christians,

  392. which is so sad. And it's heartbreaking because,

  393. yeah, you want to find someone who has the same

  394. beliefs and values as you. But there's so many

  395. different types of Christians. And, yeah, they

  396. don't have a good rep. And even it's affecting

  397. me. Even I don't have a good view of Christians

  398. now, too. Right. And I am one, so... No, I feel

  399. that. Conflict of interest. Yes. Yeah, it's unfortunate

  400. that sometimes... the loudest people are like

  401. not the most helpful people like especially in

  402. terms of like a christian reputation sometimes

  403. we're like yeah i'm a christian but like not

  404. that kind of christian right yeah no i'm a good

  405. one i'm a good one but every all christians think

  406. they are the good ones yeah right yeah so yeah

  407. i definitely feel that like trying to like navigate

  408. and figure out like how do i faithfully follow

  409. jesus right in a world where people think that

  410. they know what that means right but they maybe

  411. don't know what it means like to me right but

  412. it's like so complicated at the same time but

  413. and also it's very hard because like we have

  414. a bad rep it's hard to like actually make friends

  415. with people within the christian community sure

  416. because we also i mean i kind of like think that

  417. oh maybe this is like not the good christians

  418. so it can get really tricky especially with the

  419. like conflicting events and like we can't really

  420. get um get together in the church so with that

  421. in mind and also like the bed rep that's why

  422. like young adults don't really like have a big

  423. interest in the gospel anymore sure so that's

  424. really side to hear. Yeah, for sure. I think

  425. our group is great for that because since we,

  426. we can talk about stuff like this openly and

  427. we kind of have been, and I guess it's nice because

  428. we're, it seems like we all have the same idea

  429. of like separating like our faith from like,

  430. like the worldview of like Christianity. And

  431. like, we're not trying to follow like Christianity,

  432. but we're trying to follow Jesus. Right. And

  433. I think that's like a main thing. And not a lot

  434. of, you can't really say that, like, and have

  435. people understand you always. Sure. But I think

  436. within our group, at least, we kind of have the

  437. same, like, view of, like, yeah. Yeah, you're

  438. able to, like, say stuff like that and, like,

  439. people resonate with it. They get it, yeah. Ah,

  440. yeah, no. Not that crazy of a take. Me too, right?

  441. Yeah. And it's not like we all agree on everything.

  442. Sure. But we're able to have these helpful, respectful

  443. conversations that... kind of sometimes just

  444. lead to more questions. But I think that's good

  445. because it's just, it's healthy dialogue to like

  446. help fuel our faith. Like I know since we started

  447. doing that, I've just had more questions and

  448. more interest to like find out what, because

  449. I have, I know what I believe, but I'm kind of

  450. now like, well, why do I believe that? What makes

  451. me believe that? So it's been. kind of pushing

  452. me to want to read the Bible more and actually

  453. like find out the answers. I mean, not that I

  454. will be able to find all the answers, but, but

  455. then going back to what Chris said about not

  456. having enough time, like I'm so busy doing everything,

  457. but it's hard to always go and find time to read

  458. the Bible, which again is why it's so nice to

  459. be able to come and meet at the church where

  460. I'm going to be anyway. Right. And have this

  461. nice group of friends to talk to. Yeah. Yeah.

  462. That's awesome. Um, so is there something, Because

  463. we have lots of different folks who are listening

  464. to our podcast. Some would be young adults, some

  465. are not. Are there things that you wish that

  466. more people understood about your generation

  467. and about how young adults are interacting with

  468. the world today? That you're like, ah, if I could

  469. tell them one thing or two things, what might

  470. that be? I mean, stop polluting. Yes. We have

  471. to live in this world. I mean, I don't really

  472. know. To be honest, as a young adult, and this

  473. is not true for all young adults, but I'm a chill

  474. and laid -back person, so I don't really have

  475. anything to... You just need people to know that

  476. you're chill and laid -back, I guess. Sure, yeah.

  477. Elaine, you got it. Yeah, you got that. I'm still

  478. thinking about it. I want people to know about

  479. the adults. I don't know. I feel like people

  480. have been young at some point in their life once,

  481. so they know how it's like. Well, yeah. You'd

  482. hope, yeah. But do you think being young in 2026

  483. is different than being young in 2000? Because

  484. now we have social media. Yeah. And is that,

  485. how's that working out? You know, I love social

  486. media. I spend all day on it. Yeah, super busy,

  487. hey? I have no time to read the Bible because

  488. I'm scrolling for too long. Which is actually

  489. true. So if you're older, just know that our

  490. attention span is now too small. probably everyone

  491. is insecure because we're all comparing ourselves

  492. to other people online. And it's hard to, it's

  493. also hard to be open to different things, I think,

  494. because sometimes when you're on social media,

  495. like you're the algorithm will just continue

  496. to give you things that you probably already

  497. believe. So that's maybe why, um, like there's

  498. so there's different extremes now for Christianity,

  499. right? Like we were talking about, everyone thinks

  500. that they're the right Christian because whenever

  501. you're scrolling, You're just going to be constantly

  502. flooded with more things that you agree with.

  503. And it's just constantly reinforcing your beliefs.

  504. Yeah. Fair. Yeah. It's a tough cycle. I mean,

  505. that was just one random thing about social media.

  506. Fair. This is what social media means. It shocks

  507. it easily. Yeah. Again, with the social media

  508. thing, it's kind of. it's become harder for us

  509. to like socialize and like i feel like there's

  510. like a like i don't know it's just harder for

  511. groups to like our age to like interact and like

  512. so it's yeah i think back in the days like people

  513. had nowhere to go like if you want to like connect

  514. with others you have to actually come to a place

  515. and like gather yeah so they have a lot of more

  516. a lot more motivation for them to like actually

  517. get together with like their community so maybe

  518. that's why like this is just like my hypothesis

  519. like my assumption is that that's why like the

  520. church sort of um are more active in the past

  521. because that's where that's the one place where

  522. people can like gather sure but now because we

  523. have a lot of responsibilities we have a lot

  524. of it like activities at a lot of groups and

  525. most of them happen online yeah is that what

  526. you mean yeah exactly it's harder to connect

  527. yeah like we just have like we tend to have really

  528. bad social skill like in person yeah and also

  529. i feel like a lot of misconception that people

  530. make about the younger generation is that we

  531. do not care enough or like we are like less informed

  532. but I feel like the case with us is that because

  533. of the interconnected space that we are in right

  534. now like the digital cyberspace we have a lot

  535. of information coming in and we have a lot of

  536. things that we could decipher in our own mind

  537. so that's why like we tend to get like overwhelmed

  538. so that's why we tend not to very we're not we

  539. tend to not be very proactive about a certain

  540. topic because we know that oh not a lot of people

  541. like agree with us like we know the pro and cons

  542. of that so we are more scared to talk about it

  543. because we like the world was not supposed to

  544. be as interconnected as it is today so i think

  545. that's why like the older generation they are

  546. they tend to be more focal about their opinions

  547. because that's what they believe in and that's

  548. what their family believes in and that's um how

  549. like their friends think about that topic but

  550. for us we know like a broader view sure a more

  551. like global sure it's like information overload

  552. yes yes so we tend to like oh i don't know about

  553. it like i don't know i don't want to talk about

  554. it because not because we don't know about it

  555. but we know that it could get very complicated

  556. and political and it's very multifaceted. So

  557. that's why we're afraid to make a very concrete

  558. point on it. So I think that issue can be further

  559. connected to why we are not as involved in the

  560. church or involved in the Christian community

  561. because we know that it tends to have a very

  562. bad rep and it tends to have a very... political

  563. misunderstandings. So that's why we kind of step

  564. back and be not very vocal about it. Sure. Because

  565. of that. So I think that's why the older generations...

  566. likes to say like oh the younger generations

  567. are not as active we're not as social right now

  568. because now that we know a lot of things so it's

  569. like the the curve right like the more you know

  570. like the more you're you know that you don't

  571. know a lot of sure things so so i think yeah

  572. yeah yeah i don't know that's what i meant to

  573. say when i said chill and laid back yeah yeah

  574. because yeah because you're confused right yeah

  575. it's not you don't you don't know it's like you

  576. know enough to be confused about it and be scared

  577. about it. So maybe. What did I just say? I don't

  578. know. No, I think that's totally fair. I second

  579. that. There's just like all of this. information

  580. right so like overload yeah so like processing

  581. to figure out in the midst of really busy lives

  582. exactly and in the midst of being told right

  583. now you need to figure out who you're gonna be

  584. exactly like how you want to live your life and

  585. like all of these things right like there's a

  586. lot of pressure yeah a lot of things are in our

  587. place so we're just like yeah yeah no for sure

  588. and i also think that people think that our generation

  589. is really lazy but Because, you know, we're always

  590. on social media or whatever. But we actually

  591. work really hard. It's just the cost of living

  592. is too high. So high. Inflation. We can't afford

  593. to do anything. We can't get a job because we

  594. need five years of experience to get a job. But

  595. we have no experience because we just graduated

  596. school or we just started school. Started school.

  597. Yeah. Because the hustle culture is very real.

  598. Sure. Right. Because our, like. um rivals have

  599. been like very successful like if you're like

  600. scrolling linkedin or even on instagram like

  601. people are like announcing their oh i just got

  602. this i just got an internship i just got this

  603. and that and you're like oh i'm so behind in

  604. life so that's really hard so because again we're

  605. we as humans we're not supposed to see this many

  606. comparisons in our life before before like social

  607. media and now because like we are very connected

  608. and we can see whatever people are doing on the

  609. other side of the globe even. So we are, like,

  610. stuffed with a lot of, like, comparisons and

  611. a lot of things that people do and achieve in

  612. life. So I think that's why we tend to, like,

  613. get very self -conscious about ourselves. Yeah,

  614. for sure. For sure. Yeah, I think it's interesting,

  615. like, hearing all of these different reflections

  616. and, like, all these different challenges and

  617. things that you guys are facing. And, like, in

  618. the midst of it all, you have sort of come together

  619. and said, like, We're going to like figure it

  620. out together. Right. Like we are all in the same

  621. boat. And so like, we're going to come together

  622. and like have some fun and like talk about Jesus

  623. and like talk about how crazy life is and how

  624. we don't have time for things. And the internet

  625. is a depressing place. Talk about all of these

  626. things, but like do it in joy and community together.

  627. Definitely. Yeah. And like. I don't know, even

  628. just like this conversation, I think has been

  629. full of lots of joy. Oh yeah. Even as, even as

  630. you've been like, these things are stressful,

  631. but like there's, there's joy in, in that, in

  632. coming together and figuring it all out. So yeah.

  633. Yeah. Thank you so much folks. This has been

  634. a really fun conversation. Um, and I think really

  635. helpful on two fronts. One, just to like give

  636. us a better insight into like what life is like

  637. for, 20 somethings today and like how, how all

  638. of that fits together. Yeah. And then to just,

  639. again, as an encouragement for those who are,

  640. you know, trying to figure out life right now

  641. that they don't have to do that alone. Totally.

  642. Come to young adults. Yeah. Cut that part out.

  643. Got clipped. I knew it was going to be. These

  644. things happen. Too often. Too often. And thank

  645. you for tuning in to this week's episode of Trinity

  646. Talks. Whether you are yourself a young adult

  647. looking for a place of encouragement and comfort

  648. in the midst of the challenge of this world.

  649. or whether you are just someone who knows and

  650. cares about young adults. I hope that you've

  651. been able to find some encouragement, some challenge

  652. to build your own spaces of community and to

  653. care for one another well in the midst of this

  654. really crazy world. And we will see you again

  655. next week.
