  1. We can turn back to our reading in Leviticus chapter 16.

    Leviticus 16 chapter mention

  2. We're going to look at this passage, maybe especially looking at the verses, verse 6 to verse 10.

  3. ! Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house.

  4. Then he shall take the two goats and set them before the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting.

  5. And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the Lord and the other lot for Azazel.

  6. And Aaron shall present the coat on which the lot fell for the Lord and use it as a sin offering.

  7. But the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented a lie before the Lord to make atonement over it,

  8. that it may be sent away into the wilderness of Azazel.

  9. Last night we were looking at Leviticus chapter 2, and I mentioned there as we were beginning that all Scripture is God-breathed.

    Leviticus 2 chapter mention

  10. All Scripture is given by God.

  11. But the book of Leviticus is where we see God speaking most in the sense of speaking directly to the people.

  12. And here in chapter 16, the chapter again begins with that kind of emphasis as it begins in verse 1.

  13. The Lord spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron.

  14. Again we see God is speaking here.

  15. And he's speaking to them about the wonder of this day, this special day that the people of Israel had.

  16. A special day in their calendar, a significant day.

  17. The day of atonement.

  18. A day when a special sacrifice was offered up.

  19. It happened once a year, and it was brought by the high priest into the very center of the tabernacle,

  20. the place that no one could go.

  21. And only once a year on this special day could the high priest go in.

  22. Any other time or any other person who went in, they faced the consequences of death.

  23. But here the high priest is able to go in and to go in with this sacrifice, making atonement.

  24. Making the people right with God that they might know the forgiveness of their sin.

  25. I mentioned last night as well, just to put this into context,

  26. that the first seven chapters in Leviticus showed to us the kind of offerings that the people had to give to God,

  27. which was a ritual throughout the year.

  28. There was five main offerings.

  29. You had the burnt, the grain, the peace, the sin, and the guilt offering.

  30. And all of these were about the people's relationship with God.

  31. These were the laws, the commands that they were to keep on a regular basis.

  32. As I mentioned earlier on, the grain offering was that sense of coming before God with a sense of worship.

  33. But we know that sin had to be dealt with.

  34. Sin had to be dealt with.

  35. And we still know that that is the case.

  36. And how is sin dealt with?

  37. Well, the Bible says that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin.

  38. And so this day of atonement, this day when a special sacrifice is offered up for the high priest,

  39. the priesthood as a whole, and all the people of Israel,

  40. was a significant day when they saw what the cost of their sins was to give that sacrifice,

  41. that sprinkling of blood in the Holy of Holies before God,

  42. that they might be made right with him.

  43. So sin had to be dealt with.

  44. And that is what we come to remember today as we come to our sacrament before us, the Lord's Supper.

  45. We come to remember the Lord's death, that he came to deal with our sin,

  46. that he came to offer himself up as a sacrifice.

  47. Have you ever imagined what it might have been like to be part of the people of God in the days of Moses

  48. or indeed throughout the Old Testament?

  49. What it would have been like coming into this tabernacle,

  50. into this place where they gathered to see their sins forgiven,

  51. bringing an animal with them, bringing a sin offering, a burnt offering,

  52. a grain offering, a peace offering, a guilt offering all the time.

  53. And then once a year coming to see this day of atonement,

  54. this offering up of a bull, a ram, and two goats.

  55. Imagine what it was like.

  56. Imagine if that is what we had to do today in order for our sins to be forgiven.

  57. What kind of place would this be today?

  58. It wouldn't be silence.

  59. There would be so much noise.

  60. Everyone bringing an animal, an offering before God.

  61. How would we know which one to bring?

  62. How would we know an animal without blemish?

  63. Where would we find one that would satisfy this offering?

  64. How long would it take us to get through that sacrificial ritual,

  65. offering up these sacrifices?

  66. How messy it would be.

  67. How noisy.

  68. How smelly.

  69. All of these things.

  70. What it would be like for us if that's what we had to do today.

  71. And yet, in a sense, we do the same as we were doing in those days.

  72. But we are doing it because of what Jesus has done for us.

  73. And that is what makes all the difference.

  74. We don't come today to offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice.

  75. We come through the one who has sacrificed himself once and for all.

  76. You see, Leviticus is telling us that this will be fulfilled in what we see in the New Testament,

  77. in what we see in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  78. For example, if you were to look at the book of Hebrews,

  79. which someone has described as a commentary on Leviticus,

  80. you see just how it is fulfilled.

  81. Especially in maybe chapters 9 and 10 of Hebrews,

  82. there you see in chapter 9 that redemption is through the blood of Christ,

  83. that forgiveness is found through the blood of Christ.

  84. And then in chapter 10, that Christ sacrifices himself once and for all.

  85. You see the fulfillment of it.

  86. And as we look at Leviticus 16 today,

  87. and especially as we look at these two goats that were offered,

  88. we see how what the people had to do long ago in order to approach God

  89. and know forgiveness for their sins points us towards what we are doing here.

  90. Worshiping God, giving thanks to him for the forgiveness of our sins

  91. in remembrance of him,

  92. in remembrance of what Christ has done for us.

  93. And so I want us to see three things from this day of atonement,

  94. this passage before us today.

  95. We see, first of all, the purpose of the sacrifice.

  96. Secondly, we're going to look at the people of the sacrifice.

  97. And then thirdly, the prophecy of the sacrifice.

  98. But first of all, we're going to see the purpose of the sacrifice.

  99. It's a long chapter.

  100. And as we've read through it, you see,

  101. it goes into a lot of detail, chapter 16.

  102. And we can't take everything away from here today.

  103. There's so much in it, so much in all the different details

  104. that you could tease out with time.

  105. But we want to see, overall,

  106. the passage is speaking about a special purpose

  107. in this day of atonement.

  108. What is it about?

  109. It is about the people knowing their sins are forgiven.

  110. Knowing their sins are forgiven.

  111. It's interesting how you look at the chapters

  112. that come immediately before,

  113. from chapter 7 or 8 through to chapter 10,

  114. and then chapter 17 onwards.

  115. When you look at what's around this day of atonement

  116. in terms of the chapters,

  117. what you see is that there is law.

  118. In chapter 8 to 10, there's the law of different things.

  119. And then in chapter 17,

  120. it goes back into talking about

  121. the laws against eating blood.

  122. And there's lots of different things about law.

  123. What they are to do.

  124. And as you see with law,

  125. it's so often a burden.

  126. Because there is no one who can keep the law fully.

  127. And so the law becomes a burden.

  128. But in the midst of that,

  129. you have chapter 16.

  130. And what chapter 16,

  131. this day of atonement,

  132. shows the people their hope.

  133. It shows the grace of God.

  134. It shows that it's not by keeping the law

  135. completely and perfectly

  136. that we are forgiven,

  137. but through sacrifice.

  138. Through sacrifice offered to God.

  139. And when we look at these two goats in particular,

  140. Aaron had a bull offering for his sin,

  141. but then for all the people,

  142. two goats were to be offered.

  143. And as we look at these goats,

  144. we see that here we find

  145. the way that forgiveness was found.

  146. One goat was to be a blood sacrifice.

  147. And the other was what is called a scapegoat,

  148. or a goat of riddance.

  149. You'll have heard the phrase good riddance.

  150. It means putting something away.

  151. Something that was maybe evil.

  152. Something that was not right.

  153. Good riddance to that.

  154. It's good to get it away.

  155. And that's what the riddance goat is.

  156. It's that sense of putting away.

  157. And what this goat was doing

  158. was putting sin away.

  159. So there was the two goats.

  160. One was the blood offering,

  161. the sacrifice.

  162. And one was the scapegoat,

  163. the riddance goat,

  164. that their sin was removed

  165. into the wilderness.

  166. And this is what was needed

  167. for sin to be forgiven.

  168. And for that assurance of sin forgiven.

  169. One day in the year,

  170. this day of atonement

  171. was significant for the people.

  172. Because throughout the year,

  173. they broke the law.

  174. Throughout the year,

  175. they could not keep the law.

  176. They sinned.

  177. And therefore, this day was needed.

  178. And we know ourselves

  179. that by the law alone,

  180. we cannot keep everything perfect.

  181. We know that we sin against God

  182. in thought, word, and deed

  183. on a daily basis.

  184. And we know that God

  185. will not just allow sin

  186. to go unpunished.

  187. That we too need

  188. the forgiveness of our sin.

  189. And what we see in this passage,

  190. we see looking forward then

  191. to Jesus Christ.

  192. The first goat is the blood offering.

  193. That there is no forgiveness of sin

  194. without the shedding of blood.

  195. And you see the detail

  196. it goes into in this passage.

  197. It shows that Aaron,

  198. as the high priest,

  199. was to sprinkle the blood.

  200. All the bits were to be burnt,

  201. taken away.

  202. Every bit of this goat was burnt.

  203. So there was nothing left.

  204. It was fully sacrificed

  205. to God.

  206. And Jesus has done that for us.

  207. His blood was shed.

  208. His body was broken

  209. that we might have forgiveness

  210. of sin.

  211. Now the sacrifice,

  212. the blood offering,

  213. we can see right through

  214. the Old Testament.

  215. But the scapegoat,

  216. it was once a year,

  217. along with this other goat

  218. that was sacrificed as well.

  219. This once a year day

  220. of atonement.

  221. And the scapegoat

  222. just reminds us that

  223. as well as the shedding of blood,

  224. that our sins

  225. are removed.

  226. That they are cast

  227. away.

  228. Leviticus 16,

    Leviticus 16:21

  229. verse 21,

  230. it says there,

  231. And Aaron shall lay

  232. both his hands

  233. on the head

  234. of the live goat

  235. and confess over it

  236. all the iniquities

  237. of the people of Israel

  238. and all their transgressions,

  239. all their sins.

  240. So this scapegoat

  241. had all the sins

  242. of the people

  243. laid upon it.

  244. And you see,

  245. the language is quite familiar

  246. to what Isaiah says

  247. in Isaiah chapter 53,

    Isaiah 53 chapter mention

  248. looking at the Lord Jesus Christ.

  249. The scapegoat is described

  250. as on whose head

  251. is laid the sins of Israel.

  252. What does in Isaiah 53

  253. say about the Lord Jesus?

  254. The Lord has laid on him

  255. the iniquity of us all.

  256. All the sin

  257. of his people

  258. laid on him.

  259. The Lord has laid on him

  260. the iniquity

  261. of us all.

  262. Sin is dealt with

  263. by God.

  264. And so what is

  265. the scapegoat

  266. about?

  267. Well, there are

  268. two things

  269. that we could take

  270. from the scapegoat

  271. to help us understand

  272. just how God deals

  273. with our sin.

  274. One is that removal

  275. of sin.

  276. The sin

  277. being carried away

  278. out into the wilderness.

  279. Azazel is most likely

  280. a place in the wilderness,

  281. a place that

  282. the goat was sent to

  283. out into the wilderness,

  284. out of their sight.

  285. We sang in Psalm 103,

  286. the Lord removing

  287. our sin from us.

  288. What does it say?

  289. As far as east

  290. is distant

  291. from the west,

  292. so far as he removed

  293. our sin.

  294. Out

  295. into the wilderness,

  296. away

  297. from his people,

  298. our sin

  299. is removed.

  300. And isn't there

  301. a wonderful assurance

  302. in that

  303. for us today?

  304. For you as you come,

  305. for me as I come,

  306. that as we confess

  307. our sin

  308. and as we look

  309. to the Lord Jesus Christ,

  310. he has dealt

  311. with our sin.

  312. Through the shedding

  313. of his blood,

  314. he has dealt

  315. with our sin.

  316. But also in the removing

  317. of our sin,

  318. in it being taken

  319. away from us.

  320. The wilderness

  321. here is a reminder

  322. to us of what

  323. our sin

  324. deserves.

  325. Our sin

  326. deserves that

  327. being cut off

  328. from God,

  329. sent out

  330. into the wilderness,

  331. as it were,

  332. away from God.

  333. That is what

  334. our sin

  335. deserves,

  336. your sin

  337. and mine.

  338. But as we looked

  339. at last evening

  340. and as we see

  341. in this passage

  342. as well,

  343. the assurance

  344. of the people

  345. of God

  346. was found

  347. in their coming

  348. to God

  349. in this way

  350. and offering

  351. up a sacrifice.

  352. And so

  353. this day

  354. of atonement

  355. is the ultimate

  356. way for them

  357. to know

  358. their forgiveness

  359. of sin.

  360. Sin forgotten.

  361. Do you realize

  362. that your sin

  363. is forgotten

  364. in Christ?

  365. Because sin

  366. is often

  367. a burden.

  368. Sin weighs

  369. heavy

  370. upon us.

  371. The sin

  372. in our hearts,

  373. our individual

  374. sins,

  375. our collective

  376. sins,

  377. they all

  378. weigh heavy

  379. upon us.

  380. But as we

  381. come

  382. confessing

  383. our sin,

  384. he is faithful

  385. and just

  386. to forgive,

  387. to cast

  388. them away.

  389. Micah chapter 7

    Micah 7 chapter mention

  390. has another

  391. beautiful illustration

  392. of what this is

  393. as well,

  394. where it says

  395. in verse 19,

  396. he will again

  397. have compassion

  398. on us,

  399. he will tread

  400. our iniquities

  401. under foot.

  402. And then he says,

  403. you will cast

  404. all our sins

  405. into the depths

  406. of the sea.

  407. Our sin

  408. is put away.

  409. Why

  410. and how?

  411. Because

  412. the Lord

  413. laid on him

  414. the iniquities

  415. of us all.

  416. Paul says

  417. in 2 Corinthians

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  418. chapter 5,

  419. he made him

  420. who knew

  421. no sin

  422. to be sin

  423. that we might

  424. become the

  425. righteousness

  426. of God

  427. in him.

  428. There is Paul

  429. speaking about

  430. that same

  431. kind of language,

  432. laying on him

  433. the iniquities

  434. of us all.

  435. And what did

  436. Jesus do

  437. for us?

  438. Well,

  439. when you think

  440. of the scapegoat

  441. as forsaken,

  442. as put away

  443. into the wilderness,

  444. what was

  445. Jesus' cry

  446. on the cross?

  447. My God,

  448. my God,

  449. why

  450. have you

  451. forsaken

  452. me?

  453. It's the language

  454. of the scapegoat

  455. taken into

  456. the wilderness.

  457. Forsaken,

  458. put away,

  459. cast off.

  460. Jesus

  461. took it.

  462. My God,

  463. my God,

  464. why

  465. have you

  466. forsaken me?

  467. That is what

  468. we deserved.

  469. that is what

  470. your sin

  471. deserved,

  472. what my sin

  473. deserved.

  474. And he

  475. took it.

  476. He took

  477. our sin.

  478. He removed

  479. our sin

  480. as far as

  481. east

  482. is from

  483. the west.

  484. And doesn't

  485. that remind us

  486. that if we are

  487. looking anywhere

  488. else for

  489. forgiveness of

  490. sin,

  491. if we are

  492. thinking that

  493. by the law

  494. or by any

  495. other way

  496. we can

  497. satisfy God

  498. and that we

  499. can please

  500. him enough

  501. that our

  502. sins will

  503. be forgiven,

  504. we cannot.

  505. Only at

  506. the cross,

  507. only in

  508. Jesus Christ

  509. can we

  510. know the

  511. forgiveness

  512. of sin.

  513. The purpose

  514. of this

  515. day was

  516. for the

  517. forgiveness

  518. of their

  519. sin.

  520. Our purpose

  521. today is to

  522. remember how

  523. our sins

  524. are forgiven,

  525. are cast

  526. away through

  527. his blood

  528. and through

  529. his

  530. forsakenness.

  531. Then that

  532. leads us

  533. secondly to

  534. ask,

  535. well,

  536. what about

  537. the people

  538. involved?

  539. As you

  540. look at this

  541. passage,

  542. you see that

  543. there are

  544. people involved

  545. in this

  546. day of

  547. atonement.

  548. The priest,

  549. the high

  550. priest,

  551. Aaron is

  552. clearly

  553. involved and

  554. other priests

  555. are involved,

  556. but not

  557. exclusively.

  558. because you

  559. see the

  560. focus is

  561. on all

  562. the people.

  563. In

  564. verse 5,

  565. he shall

  566. take from

  567. the congregation

  568. of the

  569. people of

  570. Israel two

  571. male goats

  572. for a sin

  573. offering and

  574. one ram for

  575. a burnt

  576. offering.

  577. From the

  578. congregation

  579. of the

  580. people.

  581. There was a

  582. sense in

  583. that this

  584. was something

  585. that was

  586. done together.

  587. There was

  588. significance in

  589. this and it

  590. was because

  591. sin was the

  592. common factor

  593. in them all.

  594. There was

  595. no one who

  596. was immune

  597. from sin.

  598. And the

  599. same is true

  600. for ourselves

  601. today.

  602. We are all

  603. here because

  604. of that

  605. common problem

  606. that we are

  607. all sinners

  608. before a

  609. holy God.

  610. None of us

  611. can come and

  612. say, but I

  613. have no sin.

  614. None of us

  615. can say we

  616. are perfect.

  617. We all

  618. fall short.

  619. And you

  620. see the

  621. collective

  622. nature in

  623. this in

  624. that it

  625. was for

  626. all the

  627. people as

  628. you look

  629. in verse

  630. 16 as

  631. well.

  632. Thus he

  633. shall make

  634. atonement for

  635. the holy

  636. place because

  637. of the

  638. uncleanness of

  639. the people

  640. of Israel

  641. and because

  642. of their

  643. transgressions,

  644. all their

  645. sins.

  646. It was a

  647. sense of the

  648. nature and

  649. the problem

  650. of sin was

  651. among the

  652. people all

  653. together.

  654. And that

  655. this day of

  656. atonement was

  657. for all the

  658. people together

  659. as well.

  660. The high

  661. priest, the

  662. priesthood, the

  663. sin of all the

  664. people was to

  665. be dealt

  666. with because

  667. this sin

  668. affected the

  669. whole camp,

  670. if you like.

  671. The sanctuary

  672. was impure.

  673. The place

  674. where God

  675. met with

  676. his people

  677. was impure.

  678. sin had

  679. to be

  680. dealt

  681. with.

  682. And when

  683. you think

  684. of how

  685. we see

  686. that

  687. sanctuary

  688. element

  689. fulfilled

  690. in the

  691. New Testament,

  692. where do

  693. you see

  694. it?

  695. Where does

  696. God

  697. tabernacle

  698. with his

  699. people?

  700. It is in

  701. the people

  702. themselves.

  703. Because

  704. when you

  705. look at

  706. what Jesus

  707. says,

  708. he says,

  709. where two

  710. or three

  711. are gathered

  712. in my

  713. name, I

  714. am in

  715. your

  716. midst.

  717. And so

  718. the congregation

  719. were looking

  720. at their

  721. relationship

  722. with God

  723. collectively.

  724. And what

  725. the people

  726. wanted was

  727. the presence

  728. of God

  729. in their

  730. midst, the

  731. Lord to

  732. bless them

  733. as a

  734. people.

  735. And in

  736. order for

  737. that to

  738. happen,

  739. the people

  740. collectively

  741. had to

  742. confess their

  743. sin.

  744. From the

  745. congregation

  746. of the

  747. people,

  748. these goats

  749. were brought.

  750. And so

  751. today,

  752. as we

  753. come, we

  754. don't just

  755. come

  756. individually.

  757. You don't

  758. just sit

  759. at the

  760. Lord's

  761. table.

  762. You don't

  763. just look

  764. on, separate

  765. from everybody

  766. else.

  767. We are

  768. all here

  769. together.

  770. We all

  771. come, not

  772. individually,

  773. but collectively.

  774. We confess

  775. our individual

  776. sins before

  777. God, but we

  778. can do it

  779. collectively as

  780. well.

  781. and say

  782. before God,

  783. Father,

  784. before you

  785. we have

  786. sinned.

  787. We have

  788. sinned as

  789. a people.

  790. So we

  791. come

  792. collectively

  793. in that

  794. way.

  795. But on the

  796. other hand,

  797. as you look

  798. at that,

  799. there is also

  800. the theme

  801. that we

  802. come together

  803. to remember

  804. the Lord's

  805. death.

  806. The people

  807. here collectively

  808. knew the

  809. forgiveness of

  810. their sins.

  811. And today,

  812. as we take

  813. the bread

  814. and the

  815. wine,

  816. yes, we

  817. do it

  818. individually,

  819. but we

  820. do it

  821. together.

  822. This we

  823. do in

  824. remembrance

  825. of him,

  826. as brothers

  827. and sisters

  828. in the

  829. Lord,

  830. as the

  831. people of

  832. God,

  833. seeking his

  834. blessing,

  835. seeking his

  836. presence with

  837. us together,

  838. asking for

  839. his forgiveness

  840. upon us,

  841. asking for

  842. his peace

  843. over us,

  844. asking for

  845. his guidance

  846. on us

  847. going forward.

  848. We come

  849. together as

  850. the congregation

  851. of his

  852. people.

  853. In our

  854. study on

  855. Wednesday night,

  856. we were

  857. looking at

  858. Romans chapter

  859. five.

  860. And again,

  861. as we

  862. think of

  863. that book,

  864. it's a

  865. book that's

  866. so clearly

  867. tied into

  868. the likes

  869. of Leviticus

  870. as well,

  871. where we

  872. see God's

  873. work among

  874. his people.

  875. And the

  876. book of

  877. Romans,

  878. as we've

  879. been looking

  880. at in

  881. this study,

  882. it's all

  883. about that

  884. idea of

  885. we cannot

  886. keep the

  887. law.

  888. How are we

  889. justified

  890. before God?

  891. We cannot

  892. keep the

  893. law.

  894. We are

  895. justified

  896. by faith.

  897. And in

  898. Romans

  899. five,

  900. chapter two,

  901. it says,

  902. through him

  903. we have

  904. also obtained

  905. access by

  906. faith into

  907. this grace

  908. in which

  909. we stand.

  910. And when

  911. you think

  912. of the

  913. access that

  914. the high

  915. priest was

  916. giving to

  917. the people

  918. and to

  919. the holy

  920. of holy

  921. here,

  922. once a

  923. year and

  924. once a

  925. year only

  926. could he

  927. go into

  928. that place

  929. and have

  930. access to

  931. God for

  932. the forgiveness

  933. of sin.

  934. What do

  935. we have

  936. in Jesus

  937. Christ?

  938. We have

  939. obtained

  940. access by

  941. faith into

  942. this grace

  943. in which

  944. we stand.

  945. Access

  946. there means

  947. to be

  948. introduced.

  949. And the

  950. thought is

  951. that the

  952. only way

  953. to get

  954. close to

  955. a powerful

  956. dignity

  957. is to

  958. have someone

  959. who will

  960. introduce

  961. you.

  962. And when

  963. we think

  964. of it in

  965. this sense,

  966. Jesus

  967. is the

  968. one who

  969. brings us

  970. before God.

  971. We have

  972. obtained

  973. access into

  974. this grace

  975. in which we

  976. stand.

  977. We can

  978. only come

  979. before him

  980. through Jesus

  981. Christ.

  982. Because it

  983. is Jesus

  984. Christ who

  985. brings us

  986. before God

  987. the Father.

  988. Here is my

  989. brother.

  990. Here is my

  991. sister.

  992. Here is the

  993. one who I

  994. died for.

  995. And only

  996. through him

  997. can we

  998. stand.

  999. Only

  1000. through the

  1001. high priest

  1002. did the

  1003. people have

  1004. that assurance

  1005. in the

  1006. days of

  1007. Leviticus.

  1008. But through

  1009. Jesus Christ

  1010. we have

  1011. that assurance

  1012. today.

  1013. Are you

  1014. standing

  1015. by his

  1016. grace?

  1017. Are you

  1018. standing

  1019. assured?

  1020. the question

  1021. that often

  1022. comes as

  1023. we think

  1024. of sin

  1025. is can

  1026. my sin

  1027. be forgiven?

  1028. Will my

  1029. sin not

  1030. come back

  1031. and haunt

  1032. me?

  1033. You can

  1034. imagine the

  1035. people in

  1036. the days of

  1037. Leviticus

  1038. wondering about

  1039. the scapegoat

  1040. on which the

  1041. sins had been

  1042. placed on and

  1043. cast away into

  1044. the wilderness.

  1045. They would

  1046. have been

  1047. like, what

  1048. if it comes

  1049. back?

  1050. Would that

  1051. have been

  1052. you?

  1053. That element

  1054. of doubt.

  1055. What if it

  1056. comes back?

  1057. What if my

  1058. sin finds

  1059. me out

  1060. again?

  1061. Well the

  1062. man who

  1063. was appointed

  1064. to take

  1065. the goat

  1066. out into

  1067. the wilderness

  1068. said he

  1069. had to

  1070. take it

  1071. 12 miles

  1072. into the

  1073. wilderness

  1074. and then

  1075. cast it

  1076. away and

  1077. he had to

  1078. remain until

  1079. that scapegoat

  1080. was completely

  1081. out of

  1082. sight and

  1083. only then

  1084. could he

  1085. come back.

  1086. As you see

  1087. as you read

  1088. through when

  1089. he returned

  1090. he had to

  1091. wash himself

  1092. cleanse himself

  1093. from all of

  1094. that sin but

  1095. the sin was

  1096. gone.

  1097. Never to

  1098. return.

  1099. Are you

  1100. coming today

  1101. with that

  1102. sense of

  1103. doubt?

  1104. what if

  1105. what if

  1106. my sin

  1107. comes back?

  1108. What if

  1109. my sin

  1110. will come

  1111. between me

  1112. and God?

  1113. Can he

  1114. really

  1115. forgive

  1116. my sin?

  1117. Well as

  1118. you come

  1119. in faith

  1120. as you

  1121. come

  1122. trusting

  1123. in him

  1124. you can

  1125. remember

  1126. that as

  1127. far as

  1128. east is

  1129. from the

  1130. west

  1131. so far

  1132. as he

  1133. removed

  1134. he has

  1135. cast them

  1136. into the

  1137. depths

  1138. of the

  1139. sea

  1140. he has

  1141. borne

  1142. our

  1143. sin

  1144. the

  1145. iniquities

  1146. of us

  1147. all

  1148. was laid

  1149. on him

  1150. he

  1151. was

  1152. forsaken

  1153. that you

  1154. might have

  1155. peace

  1156. with him

  1157. and be

  1158. able to

  1159. stand

  1160. in that

  1161. grace

  1162. peace

  1163. we

  1164. come

  1165. by

  1166. faith

  1167. the

  1168. final

  1169. thing

  1170. we see

  1171. here

  1172. before

  1173. we

  1174. come

  1175. to

  1176. take

  1177. part

  1178. in

  1179. the

  1180. Lord's

  1181. supper

  1182. is

  1183. the

  1184. prophecy

  1185. it

  1186. foretold

  1187. the

  1188. day of

  1189. atonement

  1190. as we've

  1191. been

  1192. alluding

  1193. to

  1194. throughout

  1195. here

  1196. points

  1197. us

  1198. towards

  1199. that

  1200. great

  1201. sacrifice

  1202. that

  1203. once

  1204. and

  1205. for

  1206. all

  1207. sacrifice

  1208. why

  1209. is it

  1210. today

  1211. that

  1212. instead

  1213. of

  1214. offering

  1215. up

  1216. a

  1217. goat

  1218. or

  1219. sending

  1220. another

  1221. goat

  1222. out

  1223. into

  1224. the

  1225. wilderness

  1226. why

  1227. are we

  1228. here

  1229. gathered

  1230. around

  1231. the

  1232. word

  1233. of

  1234. God

  1235. as

  1236. we

  1237. do

  1238. why

  1239. are we

  1240. not

  1241. lined

  1242. up

  1243. with

  1244. an

  1245. animal

  1246. to

  1247. bring

  1248. before

  1249. God

  1250. to

  1251. sacrifice

  1252. to

  1253. him

  1254. because

  1255. no

  1256. sacrifice

  1257. could

  1258. satisfy

  1259. no

  1260. sacrifice

  1261. could

  1262. suffice

  1263. for

  1264. our

  1265. sin

  1266. but

  1267. instead

  1268. we

  1269. have

  1270. the

  1271. Lord

  1272. Jesus

  1273. Christ

  1274. the

  1275. one

  1276. who

  1277. gave

  1278. his

  1279. life

  1280. as

  1281. a

  1282. ransom

  1283. for

  1284. many

  1285. when

  1286. you

  1287. look

  1288. at

  1289. Leviticus

    Leviticus 6 chapter mention

  1290. chapter

  1291. 6

  1292. we

  1293. remind

  1294. it

  1295. of

  1296. the

  1297. ongoing

  1298. nature

  1299. of

  1300. the

  1301. sacrificial

  1302. system

  1303. it

  1304. says

  1305. in

  1306. verse

  1307. 13

  1308. the

  1309. fire

  1310. must

  1311. be

  1312. kept

  1313. burning

  1314. on

  1315. the

  1316. altar

  1317. continually

  1318. it

  1319. must

  1320. not

  1321. go

  1322. out

  1323. it

  1324. was

  1325. ongoing

  1326. the

  1327. day

  1328. of

  1329. atonement

  1330. was

  1331. once

  1332. a

  1333. year

  1334. but

  1335. throughout

  1336. the

  1337. year

  1338. there

  1339. were

  1340. sacrifices

  1341. being

  1342. made

  1343. continually

  1344. is

  1345. that

  1346. true

  1347. for

  1348. us

  1349. today

  1350. not

  1351. in

  1352. the

  1353. same

  1354. way

  1355. because

  1356. at

  1357. the

  1358. cross

  1359. Jesus

  1360. said

  1361. it

  1362. is

  1363. finished

  1364. it

  1365. is

  1366. done

  1367. and

  1368. so

  1369. as

  1370. we

  1371. come

  1372. to

  1373. the

  1374. Lord's

  1375. table

  1376. as

  1377. we

  1378. come

  1379. to

  1380. the

  1381. Lord's

  1382. supper

  1383. it's

  1384. trusting

  1385. in

  1386. the

  1387. finished

  1388. work

  1389. of

  1390. Christ

  1391. and

  1392. that

  1393. is

  1394. where

  1395. we

  1396. are

  1397. to

  1398. look

  1399. that

  1400. is

  1401. what

  1402. we

  1403. have

  1404. before

  1405. us

  1406. the

  1407. broken

  1408. body

  1409. and

  1410. the

  1411. shed

  1412. blood

  1413. poured

  1414. out

  1415. for you

  1416. that you

  1417. might

  1418. know

  1419. forgiveness

  1420. of sin

  1421. so God

  1422. doesn't

  1423. require

  1424. this

  1425. kind

  1426. of

  1427. sacrifice

  1428. anymore

  1429. because

  1430. Jesus

  1431. is

  1432. our

  1433. high

  1434. priest

  1435. he

  1436. offered

  1437. himself

  1438. to

  1439. satisfy

  1440. divine

  1441. justice

  1442. to

  1443. reconcile

  1444. us

  1445. to

  1446. God

  1447. that

  1448. we

  1449. will

  1450. be

  1451. right

  1452. with

  1453. him

  1454. and

  1455. so

  1456. as

  1457. we

  1458. come

  1459. to

  1460. the

  1461. Lord's

  1462. table

  1463. are

  1464. you

  1465. looking

  1466. to

  1467. yourself

  1468. are

  1469. you

  1470. looking

  1471. to

  1472. your

  1473. sin

  1474. and

  1475. saying

  1476. but

  1477. how

  1478. can

  1479. he

  1480. forgive

  1481. me

  1482. or

  1483. are

  1484. you

  1485. looking

  1486. to

  1487. him

  1488. the

  1489. hymn

  1490. writer

  1491. says

  1492. when

  1493. Satan

  1494. tempts

  1495. me

  1496. to

  1497. despair

  1498. and

  1499. tells

  1500. me

  1501. of

  1502. the

  1503. guilt

  1504. within

  1505. upward

  1506. I

  1507. look

  1508. and

  1509. see

  1510. him

  1511. there

  1512. who

  1513. made

  1514. an

  1515. end

  1516. of

  1517. all

  1518. my

  1519. sin

  1520. because

  1521. the

  1522. sinless

  1523. saviour

  1524. died

  1525. my

  1526. sinful

  1527. soul

  1528. is

  1529. counted

  1530. free

  1531. for

  1532. God

  1533. the

  1534. just

  1535. is

  1536. satisfied

  1537. to

  1538. look

  1539. on

  1540. him

  1541. and

  1542. pardon

  1543. me

  1544. to

  1545. look

  1546. on

  1547. him

  1548. and

  1549. pardon

  1550. me

  1551. you

  1552. in

  1553. some

  1554. ways

  1555. we

  1556. could

  1557. say

  1558. there's

  1559. no

  1560. mess

  1561. here

  1562. today

  1563. in

  1564. the

  1565. sense

  1566. of

  1567. the

  1568. whole

  1569. sacrificial

  1570. system

  1571. and the

  1572. mess

  1573. and the

  1574. noise

  1575. and the

  1576. sights

  1577. of

  1578. that

  1579. but

  1580. in

  1581. another

  1582. sense

  1583. we can

  1584. say

  1585. there is

  1586. a

  1587. mess

  1588. here

  1589. because

  1590. we are

  1591. all

  1592. a mess

  1593. we are

  1594. all a

  1595. mess

  1596. before

  1597. God

  1598. because

  1599. of

  1600. our

  1601. sin

  1602. when

  1603. you

  1604. look

  1605. in

  1606. your

  1607. heart

  1608. what

  1609. do

  1610. you

  1611. see

  1612. you

  1613. see

  1614. a

  1615. distance

  1616. from

  1617. God

  1618. you

  1619. see

  1620. a

  1621. sin

  1622. that

  1623. keeps

  1624. that

  1625. distance

  1626. but

  1627. don't

  1628. just

  1629. look

  1630. at

  1631. yourself

  1632. because

  1633. God

  1634. looked

  1635. on

  1636. him

  1637. on

  1638. Jesus

  1639. to

  1640. pardon

  1641. you

  1642. and

  1643. so

  1644. yes

  1645. we

  1646. look

  1647. to

  1648. our

  1649. sin

  1650. in one

  1651. sense

  1652. because

  1653. we

  1654. need

  1655. to

  1656. confess

  1657. our

  1658. sin

  1659. but

  1660. we

  1661. look

  1662. to

  1663. Christ

  1664. we

  1665. thank

  1666. him

  1667. for

  1668. what

  1669. he

  1670. has

  1671. done

  1672. for

  1673. us

  1674. our

  1675. scapegoat

  1676. our

  1677. sacrificial

  1678. goat

  1679. his

  1680. blood

  1681. shed

  1682. his

  1683. forsaken

  1684. on the

  1685. cross

  1686. all

  1687. that

  1688. our

  1689. sin

  1690. might

  1691. be

  1692. forgiven

  1693. the

  1694. people

  1695. in the

  1696. days

  1697. of

  1698. Moses

  1699. they

  1700. came

  1701. to

  1702. this

  1703. day

  1704. looking

  1705. for

  1706. forgiveness

  1707. forgiveness

  1708. we

  1709. come

  1710. in the

  1711. same way

  1712. confessing

  1713. our

  1714. sin

  1715. but not

  1716. just

  1717. looking

  1718. for

  1719. forgiveness

  1720. but

  1721. remembering

  1722. our

  1723. sin

  1724. is

  1725. forgiven

  1726. in

  1727. him

  1728. he

  1729. was

  1730. crushed

  1731. for

  1732. our

  1733. iniquities

  1734. all

  1735. the

  1736. sin

  1737. was

  1738. laid

  1739. on

  1740. him

  1741. and

  1742. so

  1743. we

  1744. come

  1745. thankful

  1746. we

  1747. come

  1748. to

  1749. do

  1750. this

  1751. in

  1752. remembrance

  1753. of

  1754. him

  1755. let

  1756. us

  1757. pray

  1758. Lord

  1759. our

  1760. gracious

  1761. God

  1762. we

  1763. thank

  1764. you

  1765. that

  1766. there

  1767. is

  1768. nothing

  1769. that

  1770. we

  1771. could

  1772. possibly

  1773. ever

  1774. bring

  1775. to

  1776. you

  1777. that

  1778. would

  1779. satisfy

  1780. you

  1781. for

  1782. our

  1783. sin

  1784. and

  1785. yet

  1786. oh

  1787. Lord

  1788. you

  1789. have

  1790. opened

  1791. up

  1792. that

  1793. way

  1794. for

  1795. us

  1796. not

  1797. that

  1798. we

  1799. would

  1800. come

  1801. with

  1802. a

  1803. bull

  1804. or

  1805. goat

  1806. or

  1807. ram

  1808. but

  1809. that

  1810. we

  1811. would

  1812. come

  1813. by

  1814. faith

  1815. in

  1816. the

  1817. Lord

  1818. Jesus

  1819. Christ

  1820. the

  1821. one

  1822. who

  1823. paid

  1824. the

  1825. price

  1826. the

  1827. one

  1828. who

  1829. was

  1830. forsaken

  1831. the

  1832. one

  1833. who

  1834. was

  1835. condemned

  1836. the

  1837. one

  1838. upon

  1839. whom

  1840. all

  1841. our

  1842. sin

  1843. was

  1844. laid

  1845. and

  1846. we

  1847. pray

  1848. today

  1849. Lord

  1850. that

  1851. we

  1852. would

  1853. remember

  1854. the

  1855. wonder

  1856. of

  1857. that

  1858. forgiveness

  1859. that

  1860. as

  1861. far

  1862. as

  1863. east

  1864. is

  1865. from

  1866. the

  1867. west

  1868. so

  1869. far

  1870. as

  1871. he

  1872. removed

  1873. our

  1874. sin

  1875. from

  1876. us

  1877. cast

  1878. into

  1879. the

  1880. depths

  1881. of

  1882. the

  1883. sea

  1884. never

  1885. again

  1886. to

  1887. condemn

  1888. us

  1889. Lord

  1890. we

  1891. thank you

  1892. that as

  1893. we

  1894. come

  1895. in

  1896. faith

  1897. that we

  1898. might

  1899. know

  1900. that in

  1901. him

  1902. we

  1903. stand

  1904. in

  1905. that grace

  1906. presented

  1907. before

  1908. you

  1909. by a

  1910. saviour

  1911. by a

  1912. precious

  1913. saviour

  1914. so

  1915. Lord

  1916. continue

  1917. with us

  1918. bless

  1919. us

  1920. and keep

  1921. us

  1922. as we

  1923. ask all

  1924. things

  1925. for the

  1926. forgiveness

  1927. of our

  1928. sin

  1929. in his

  1930. name

  1931. amen

  1932. as

  1933. we

  1934. come

  1935. to

  1936. partake

  1937. in

  1938. the

  1939. Lord's

  1940. supper

  1941. we

  1942. ask

  1943. as

  1944. well

  1945. the

  1946. question

  1947. of

  1948. who

  1949. the

  1950. Lord's

  1951. supper

  1952. is

  1953. for

  1954. and

  1955. this

  1956. is

  1957. what

  1958. we

  1959. call

  1960. the

  1961. fencing

  1962. of

  1963. the

  1964. table

  1965. a

  1966. part

  1967. where

  1968. it's

  1969. made

  1970. clear

  1971. just

  1972. who

  1973. should

  1974. come

  1975. to

  1976. the

  1977. Lord's

  1978. supper

  1979. who

  1980. should

  1981. sit

  1982. at

  1983. the

  1984. Lord's

  1985. table

  1986. as

  1987. we've

  1988. read

  1989. through

  1990. Leviticus

  1991. we see

  1992. a lot

  1993. of

  1994. instruction

  1995. given

  1996. as to

  1997. what

  1998. the

  1999. people

  2000. had

  2001. to

  2002. do

  2003. and

  2004. what

  2005. was

  2006. done

  2007. for

  2008. them

  2009. but

  2010. if

  2011. you

  2012. look

  2013. at

  2014. the

  2015. very

  2016. end

  2017. of

  2018. this

  2019. chapter

  2020. the

  2021. beginning

  2022. starts

  2023. with

  2024. the

  2025. Lord

  2026. spoke

  2027. to

  2028. Moses

  2029. and

  2030. then

  2031. the

  2032. very

  2033. last

  2034. words

  2035. are

  2036. this

  2037. and

  2038. Moses

  2039. did

  2040. as

  2041. the

  2042. Lord

  2043. commanded

  2044. !

  2045. Moses

  2046. did

  2047. as

  2048. the

  2049. Lord

  2050. commanded

  2051. him

  2052. what

  2053. did

  2054. he

  2055. do?

  2056. well

  2057. we could

  2058. say

  2059. that there's

  2060. three

  2061. things

  2062. that he

  2063. did

  2064. first

  2065. of all

  2066. he

  2067. listened

  2068. there's

  2069. a lot

  2070. in this

  2071. chapter

  2072. a lot

  2073. to take

  2074. with us

  2075. a lot

  2076. for

  2077. Moses

  2078. to take

  2079. with

  2080. him

  2081. but

  2082. he

  2083. listened

  2084. he

  2085. listened

  2086. to what

  2087. God

  2088. was

  2089. saying

  2090. and

  2091. that

  2092. is

  2093. what

  2094. we

  2095. are

  2096. to

  2097. do

  2098. as

  2099. we

  2100. come

  2101. to

  2102. the

  2103. Lord's

  2104. table

  2105. you

  2106. listen

  2107. to

  2108. what

  2109. God

  2110. is

  2111. saying

  2112. you

  2113. listen

  2114. to

  2115. his

  2116. command

  2117. in

  2118. obedience

  2119. you

  2120. come

  2121. to

  2122. do

  2123. this

  2124. in

  2125. remembrance

  2126. of

  2127. him

  2128. so

  2129. are

  2130. you

  2131. listening

  2132. today

  2133. are

  2134. you

  2135. listening

  2136. to

  2137. the

  2138. word

  2139. of

  2140. God

  2141. the

  2142. second

  2143. thing

  2144. that

  2145. we

  2146. can

  2147. take

  2148. with

  2149. Moses

  2150. is

  2151. that

  2152. he

  2153. trusted

  2154. he

  2155. believed

  2156. because

  2157. he

  2158. did

  2159. as

  2160. the

  2161. Lord

  2162. commanded

  2163. because

  2164. he

  2165. believed

  2166. in

  2167. what

  2168. God

  2169. was

  2170. saying

  2171. that

  2172. in

  2173. order

  2174. to

  2175. know

  2176. the

  2177. forgiveness

  2178. of

  2179. their

  2180. sin

  2181. this

  2182. is

  2183. what

  2184. had

  2185. to

  2186. be

  2187. done

  2188. and

  2189. again

  2190. we

  2191. apply

  2192. that

  2193. to

  2194. ourselves

  2195. as

  2196. we

  2197. think

  2198. how

  2199. do

  2200. we

  2201. come

  2202. to

  2203. the

  2204. Lord's

2531. The mighty Lord doth ever value me.

2532. I shall not die, but live and shall the words of God discover.

2533. The Lord hath me chastiseth soar, but not to death give o'er.

2534. O set ye open unto me the gates of righteousness.

2535. Then will I enter into them, and I the Lord will bless.

2536. This is the gate of all quiet, the just shall enter in.

2537. We will thy grace for the meekers, and trust my safety in.

2538. That stone is made dead cornerstone, which builders in each side.

2539. This is the doing of the Lord, and wondrous in our eyes.

2540. Well, as we come to the Lord's Supper, we have thought about all that's been done for us.

2541. And as we read there at the end of the chapter, Moses obeyed.

2542. We are to come listening.

2543. We are to come believing.

2544. And we are to come in obedience.

2545. And our warrant, as we find it for the Lord's Supper, we read in 1 Corinthians 11 at verse 23.

2546. For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you,

2547. that the Lord Jesus on the night he was betrayed took bread.

2548. And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said,

2549. This is my body, which is for you.

2550. Do this in remembrance of me.

2551. In the same way also he took the cup after supper, saying,

2552. This cup is a new covenant in my blood.

2553. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me.

2554. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,

2555. you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

2556. For we follow the same pattern that on the night he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread and he gave thanks.

2557. So we'll bow our heads in a word of thanksgiving.

2558. Lord, our gracious God, as we come before you at this time, we have that sense of our unworthiness.

2559. For we are not worthy of the least of your mercies.

2560. But we are thankful that you are one who remembers us, the one who is gracious and merciful towards us.

2561. We thank you that we look before us here and that we see the bread and the wine in the ordinary nature of them.

2562. And yet, O Lord, may you bless them to us as we come to see what they represent.

2563. The body that was broken and the blood that was shed.

2564. And may you bless us, Lord, as we partake.

2565. As we take of the bread and of the wine.

2566. May it be for our strengthening.

2567. For our growth in grace.

2568. That our faith would be encouraged.

2569. We thank you, Lord, that we come to do this in remembrance of him.

2570. And may it be that that is where our eyes are focused and where our hearts are fixed.

2571. We pray, Lord, that you would bless everyone, not just who partakes, but who looks on.

2572. That they would see the importance of remembering you in a day of mercy, in a day of opportunity.

2573. May we see the importance of Jesus.

2574. The one that we are to remember in this way.

2575. And to remember by giving ourselves to him in obedience, in faith.

2576. We thank you, Lord, for your goodness to us.

2577. And we pray that you would bless us and keep us.

  2578. That's all we ask.

2579. We ask the forgiveness of our sins.

  2580. In Jesus' name.

  2581. Amen.

  2582. Amen.

2583. Well, after he had given thanks, the Lord took bread and said,

2584. This is my body, which is for you.

2585. Do this in remembrance of me.

2586. We see, too, that in the same way he took the cup after supper, saying,

2587. This is the cup of the new covenant in my blood.

2588. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me.

2589. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

2590. Well, as we come to rise from the table, I want to share with you some verses from Nehemiah in chapter 8.

2591. In this chapter in Nehemiah, the people of God have been under the word of God.

2592. The word of God has been opened up to them.

2593. And they've recognized the burden of their sin.

2594. But in verse 10 of Nehemiah 8, it says,

2595. Then he said to them,

  2596. Go your way.

2597. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine,

2598. and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready.

2599. For this day is holy to our Lord.

2600. And do not be grieved.

2601. For the joy of the Lord is your strength.

  2602. We grieve over sin.

2603. But as we know sin forgiven,

2604. we are to go forward then with the joy of the Lord as our strength.

  2605. Somebody once said,

2606. Joy is a byproduct of obedience.

2607. And those who have been obedient here today,

2608. may you rise from the table with that joy in the Lord increased.

2609. Thankful to him for all his goodness and for all his mercies.

2610. For those who have looked on,

2611. may you go from here today with that hunger and that thirst for the joy of the Lord as well.

2612. May you hunger for it.

2613. Lord, listening to his word,

2614. coming to trust, to believe in him,

2615. that you might be obedient to him one day as well.

  2616. And in that obedience,

2617. to know joy in the Lord and the strength that he gives.

2618. Let's just bow heads again in a word of prayer.

  2619. Lord, our gracious God,

2620. we return thanks to you.

2621. For what else can we do but to give thanks to you as Lord and God.

2622. for that sense of joy that you give through your strength to us.

2623. That we can rejoice in you today.

2624. And may we rejoice in all the days ahead as well.

  2625. May we know, Lord,

2626. your goodness following us and your mercy with us.

2627. That you would continue to bless us,

  2628. to speak,

2629. help us to listen and to hear and to obey

2630. in all that we seek to do for your glory.

2631. As we ask it in Jesus' name.

  2632. Amen.

  2633. Amen.

2634. We're going to conclude by singing to God's praise

2635. the words of Psalm 72 in the Scottish Psalter.

  2636. Psalm 72.

2637. Sing from verse 17 to verse 19 at the end of the psalm.

2638. We stand to sing these three verses to God's praise.

  2639. Amen.

2640. His name forever shall endure

2641. Last time the sun it shall

2642. Men shall be blessed in heaven and rest

2643. All ancient shall be called

2644. Blessed be the Lord, the Lord, the Lord,

2645. The Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord, the Lord

2646. His glorious name to all eternity.

2647. The whole earth is glory fair.

  2648. Amen.

  2649. So let it be.

  2650. Amen.

2651. Now may grace, mercy, and peace from God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit rest upon and abide with you all now and forevermore. Amen.
