  1. Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode

  2. of Trinity Talks. My name is Kyla. My name is

  3. Amalvel. My name is Elizabeth. And I'm Hugh.

  4. And we are here to continue our conversation

  5. about spiritual practices. What are some of the

  6. habits, the things that we can do to help us

  7. grow in our walk with Christ? And today we're

  8. talking about the spiritual practice of witness.

  9. And witness is kind of a... I don't know if it's

  10. a fancy word, but it's a Christian word that

  11. we use for sort of telling people about our faith.

  12. And so we're going to talk through, you know,

  13. what are some of the things that makes that really

  14. great? What are some of the things that make

  15. that really hard? Why do people not want to tell

  16. other people about their faith sometimes? Yeah.

  17. And hopefully we can find some encouragement

  18. in the midst of the conversation as well. But

  19. yeah, just as we start thinking about, you know,

  20. what is the spiritual practice of witness? What

  21. would you sort of say to help define it? Do you

  22. want to start us off, Hugh? Sure. I would describe

  23. witnessing as different from evangelism. Yeah.

  24. Witnessing is really living and walking with

  25. someone out of deep love. It's journeying with

  26. someone. Evangelism would be more like speaking

  27. about Christian principles, maybe to a large

  28. audience or maybe to a small group. But it's

  29. using words more than attitude or more than your

  30. life. Right. Witnessing is living out of deep

  31. love from your life. So that's how I would say

  32. it. Yeah, so it's like more relational in some

  33. ways. Definitely. Yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. What

  34. would you add to that, Elizabeth? I would say

  35. the spiritual practice of witnessing is to bear

  36. witness to the truth of the gospel, helping to

  37. bring others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

  38. It is understood that while... Believers are

  39. called to communicate the message. It is the

  40. Holy Spirit who actively converts the earth.

  41. Then on the other hand, evangelism actively explaining

  42. the biblical story of salvation to a friend or

  43. an individual leading a Bible study or preaching

  44. the gospel message. in a structured way right

  45. so then like evangelism can kind of be like a

  46. subset of witnessing sometimes like sometimes

  47. we use these words interchangeably but they are

  48. focused a little bit differently And I think

  49. I really appreciate the point that you made about,

  50. like, relying on the Holy Spirit. Sometimes I

  51. think we think, oh, when I'm witnessing or when

  52. I'm sharing my faith with someone, it's my job

  53. to, like, convince them, right? And that's not

  54. our job, right? We have to depend on the Holy

  55. Spirit to lead. We do the part that we can do,

  56. and we leave the rest up to God. Yeah. What would

  57. you sort of add to that, Amalvel? I would sort

  58. of look at it almost like witnessing as in, like,

  59. even from like a like a justice standpoint like

  60. in the sense of can other people recognize you

  61. as christian in your life you know even if they're

  62. not christian themselves can they recognize you

  63. as christian through your words your actions

  64. how you live your life can you look at somebody

  65. and say there goes a christian person right okay

  66. yeah yeah just that ability to so then it doesn't

  67. even need to be necessarily about the things

  68. that we say It can be, but it's about living

  69. with integrity and living like Jesus. Yeah, exactly.

  70. In all of the places that we live our lives,

  71. at work, at school. Because we can say that we're

  72. Christian and then be the complete opposite of

  73. it. Sure. That's why Jesus says in the Sermon

  74. on the Mount, you know. That many will say, Lord,

  75. Lord, and say that they did things in his name.

  76. Right. You know, but Jesus will say to some,

  77. depart from me, I never knew you. Right. So witnessing

  78. is making sure that you're living while respecting

  79. and honoring Jesus. Right. You're living a life

  80. where Jesus can say, you know, you did well.

  81. Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm. Okay, so that gives us a sort

  82. of conceptual idea of what witnessing is. Can

  83. we make that a little more practical? Like, what

  84. does witnessing look like? What does it look

  85. like to sort of share your faith with other people?

  86. What are ways that we might do that? Well, I

  87. think Jesus gave us the first clue, if you want.

  88. He said, love one another. And that's how they'll

  89. know that you're Christians. And so the various

  90. forms of love that we can extend to people. If

  91. someone is struggling, you give them a call or

  92. you take them out to lunch. Or one of the most

  93. powerful ways, I think, of loving someone is

  94. to deeply listen to them. And that's easier said

  95. than done, because when you deeply listen to

  96. someone, it means that you suspend your own agenda,

  97. you suspend your own noise in your head. And

  98. for that very moment, the person that's sitting

  99. in front of you is the most important person

  100. in the world. That's kind of deep listening.

  101. And that's a real example, I think, of the kind

  102. of love that Jesus was talking about. And that's

  103. that to me is is powerful witnessing. And I think

  104. that's a really important part of it that we

  105. don't often think about. Like often when we think

  106. about witnessing or sharing our faith, we think,

  107. oh, I need to be saying things. I need to be

  108. doing things. But actually, the practice of just

  109. listening to another person's story and being

  110. able to reflect that back to them and being able

  111. to say, yeah, you know what? That was really

  112. hard. Yeah. You know what? Like, I want to walk

  113. with you through that. Like that is. sharing

  114. our faith in really meaningful ways. Yeah. Yeah.

  115. What else does it maybe look like to sort of

  116. share our faith with other people? Some of the

  117. ways that the individual witness and share their

  118. faith is through a combination of lifestyle.

  119. Example, have personal testimony and direct father

  120. invitation. Common method include act of kindness.

  121. praying for others, sharing personal testimony

  122. of God's impact in their lives, inviting the

  123. individuals to church events, and engaging in

  124. a respective conversation about the faith. Right,

  125. yeah, yeah. So it is... Some of that acts of

  126. kindness, that listening, like you just said,

  127. it's, yeah, inviting folks to church, whether

  128. it's Sunday morning church or to, you know, a

  129. dinner that's happening or the Easter egg hunt

  130. that we did yesterday. Just inviting people to

  131. come along with you and sort of experience the

  132. love of Jesus. Yeah. And then I think there is

  133. a part of witnessing, a part of sharing our faith

  134. that does involve sometimes saying words. And

  135. that's the part I think that's really hard for

  136. people. Um, but yeah, I think it is an important

  137. part that like, you know, often I think when

  138. we tell, when we talk about like sharing your

  139. faith, we're like, oh yeah, just live by example,

  140. like live, live the way that Jesus calls you

  141. to live. And other people will notice that. But

  142. then when other people notice that the Bible

  143. instructs us, be ready to sort of give an answer.

  144. right when people notice hey amava why are you

  145. like this right to be able to say well actually

  146. i'm like this because i believe this thing because

  147. jesus has asked me to live this way right right

  148. yeah and not doing it in a super pushy way but

  149. just in a like this is where i'm coming from

  150. kind of way yeah i mean we should be able to

  151. you know like go to church do what we gotta do

  152. and if people are curious genuinely curious and

  153. not trying to be trolling not trying to you know

  154. push buttons or whatever you know if they're

  155. actually curious yeah invite them along you know

  156. be like listen I go to 1115 service you're welcome

  157. to come if you want I'm going either way sure

  158. you know yeah and just sort of let them let them

  159. come on their own you know I mean I think one

  160. thing that that turns people away from religion

  161. is when it's sort of like you're going because

  162. you're you're kind of forced to you know i mean

  163. yes as a as a kid you kind of have to be of course

  164. but sure you know but when you're an adult i

  165. mean that's when you you know you should be going

  166. because you actually want to sure and so if people

  167. are curious about the faith or feel like they

  168. have a calling to go allow them to go with you

  169. which can be tough because sometimes you look

  170. at them and you're like you've done a lot of

  171. damage already you know you've done you know

  172. you whether it's mocking or whether it's not

  173. believing or it's just you know how they act

  174. or so and maybe they're not your favorite person

  175. but then you're to deal with but at the end of

  176. the day If you're helping to save a soul, that

  177. that should count for something. Sure. Yeah.

  178. Yeah. And I think that that being willing to

  179. bring someone along with you to church or to

  180. whatever it is, is, I think, super important.

  181. Like sometimes we'll just say, you know, we'll

  182. give somebody this invitation, be like, hey,

  183. go to church. Right. And that's fine. Maybe that

  184. works. But actually, I think what works better

  185. is to say, hey, come with me to church. Or like,

  186. hey, I'll pick you up. Or like, hey, I'll meet

  187. you at the door. We'll sit together through the

  188. service. Or if you'd like to go, let me know.

  189. Yeah, or whatever. It has to be willingness.

  190. Because there was a song that said, I was glad

  191. when they said unto me, let us go into the house

  192. of the Lord. So it has to come from the heart,

  193. not just... pushing or forcing the individual

  194. to the church service. I mean, God gave us all

  195. free will. So, I mean, this is free will in action,

  196. you know, to go to church. Nobody should be forcing

  197. you. You should just go because you want to,

  198. because you're curious, because you're compelled.

  199. Yeah. And that, you know, just like you have

  200. the free will to say no every time to church

  201. if you want to. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I think

  202. it's, as we said earlier, witnessing is relational.

  203. And so before we use words, and words are very

  204. appropriate at the right time, I think we have

  205. to ensure that we have the person's confidence.

  206. Sure. uh permission because jesus never violated

  207. the integrity of anyone you always respect people's

  208. integrity and that's i think what we need to

  209. do as christians when i was a new christian i

  210. didn't know i didn't know i didn't know that

  211. and i didn't do it i i was i i went out and i

  212. wanted to convert everybody overnight sure sure

  213. somebody said you know what you should do with

  214. new christians is lock them up for six months

  215. They're too passionate. They're too passionate

  216. about it. But once you have the relationship

  217. and you have the person's permission, then you

  218. can say, listen, this is what the Christian walk

  219. has meant for me. This is what Jesus has meant

  220. for me. And here's what it's done for me. And

  221. offer it to them. And then it's their choice.

  222. It's their free will, as you were saying. Yeah.

  223. And I think what you were just saying there,

  224. Hugh, about, you know, really sharing your perspective

  225. and your story. I think that's a really important

  226. part of witnessing that we also sometimes neglect

  227. to sort of think about. We think like, oh, if

  228. I'm going to share my faith with other people,

  229. I need to like have all the Bible verses lined

  230. up. I need to have all the right arguments. I

  231. need to be able to answer all of the really hard

  232. questions. But that's not. what a witness does.

  233. Like if you think about a witness in a courtroom,

  234. the witness's job is to say, here's what I saw.

  235. Here's what I heard. Here's what my experience

  236. of things has been. Right. You don't need to

  237. rebuttal all of the arguments. You don't need

  238. to have all the answers. No. And we think, I

  239. think we need to be more comfortable with saying,

  240. I don't know. Right. When someone comes at you

  241. and they're like, ah, there's this thing that

  242. I'm like really sort of on a, rant about or when

  243. they're like oh here's a really hard question

  244. that you just won't be able to answer for me

  245. be like yeah no i don't know but i believe anyway

  246. yeah right and here's what my experience of god

  247. has been even if i don't know the answer to that

  248. specific thing right like just giving ourselves

  249. that freedom and love is the key you know once

  250. you've had the the privilege and the honor of

  251. of walking with someone in love And then they

  252. will be more open. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. So there's

  253. this piece around sort of hard questions and

  254. not knowing what to say. Are there any other

  255. challenges or things that you think keep people

  256. from wanting to share their faith with others?

  257. Yeah, I would say the fact is that you don't

  258. know how they're going to react to you being

  259. Christian. especially if they're coming from

  260. another faith you know there's a wide variety

  261. of reactions from sure from anger or violence

  262. to apathy to mocking to to people being like

  263. oh that's great for you right you know right

  264. yeah that's great for you but i'm never gonna

  265. do that or whatever you know what i mean i'm

  266. never gonna be christian you know or whatever

  267. you know so you don't know how you're How are

  268. you going to react? But, you know, and especially,

  269. I mean, fortunately, most people, at least in

  270. the Western world, are at least somewhat civilized

  271. that you can, you know, we're not fortunately

  272. at the point where Christianity is persecuted

  273. like in other places. But, you know, it is sort

  274. of it can be tough because, you know, because

  275. you've got to be prepared that. People are not

  276. going to like the fact that you're Christian.

  277. Sure. Or even worse, they're just not going to

  278. care. Sure. You know, they're not going to see

  279. it as a great thing or, you know, it's just like,

  280. oh, whatever, you know. Right. Yeah. So there's

  281. often that fear of like, OK, how are other people

  282. going to react to this? Right. Yeah. Yeah. That's

  283. a big barrier for sure. What about other things,

  284. other challenges that sometimes come up? The

  285. challenging part of. about witnessing is sharing

  286. my faith or the gospel with others. Some individuals

  287. will try to intimidate or start arguments. So

  288. before you do that, you should pray within yourself

  289. for the Holy Spirit to intervene and direct what

  290. you're going to say. Then overcoming the challenges

  291. often require shifting the focus from pressure

  292. of converting someone to simply being a faithful

  293. witness by relying on the Holy Spirit to guide

  294. the conversation and focusing on loving others.

  295. So that would be your main focus. You know, address

  296. them in a proper way and, you know, present what

  297. you're going to say to them in a simple format,

  298. not too grammatic. Or maybe, you know, because

  299. some people, they will say, lower your, the way

  300. you talk, you know, because they are still baby

  301. Christians, so we should approach them in a normal.

  302. way yeah yeah yeah and i think that like one

  303. of the things that you said was like yeah that

  304. the pressure is not to convert people the pressure

  305. is to do the part that you can do and if you're

  306. one part of planting a seed if you're one part

  307. of watering whatever sort of stage you are in

  308. that right like i just think about like friends

  309. that i had in high school specifically that like,

  310. you know, would talk to them about faith things

  311. from time to time, but like never really saw

  312. anything come of it. And then it was years later

  313. when I was like, oh, this person is like now

  314. attending church and like following Jesus. And

  315. I had nothing to do with the final moment where

  316. that happened. right with where like the switch

  317. was flipped but like maybe something that i said

  318. along the way you contributed to the journey

  319. in some way yeah yeah i think one of the challenges

  320. too is to to understand from our own journey

  321. how delicate we are and how delicate everyone

  322. is. Everyone really needs to be affirmed. Someone

  323. said to me one time, speak ill of no one, but

  324. speak the good you know about everyone. So when

  325. you're sitting in front of a person, you say,

  326. well, what is it in their life that they need

  327. to be affirmed on? Because we all need it. And

  328. there's a beautiful book and video, actually,

  329. of Desmond Tutu and his relationship with the

  330. Dalai Lama. Two different fates, but a beautiful

  331. love coming together. And, you know, the real

  332. key to... various faiths, various religions,

  333. is to really deeply listen to each other and

  334. learn from each other and affirm what is good

  335. in each tradition. Because there are some good

  336. things in every tradition. We have the truth

  337. as Christians, but maybe not a monopoly on it.

  338. And so sometimes that's a challenge because we

  339. know... we you know in our mind you know we're

  340. going to convert everybody everybody should be

  341. a christian by tomorrow but but but no you know

  342. jesus walked with people we're called we're called

  343. to walk but more more important i think we're

  344. called to to a deep love and a deep listening

  345. and i think that's one of the things that really

  346. uh that that really got me to um to want to be

  347. christian is the fact that You know, like coming

  348. from Islam, the idea is that everyone's supposed

  349. to be Muslim or, you know, right. With Christianity,

  350. we just want the good word to be spread. That's

  351. it. That's it. You know, we just want the good

  352. word to be spread and heard. And then you do

  353. what you do. You do whatever you want. You know,

  354. if you want to read the Bible, go to church,

  355. follow Christ. Amen. You know, but if you choose.

  356. But if you hear the good news and you still deny

  357. Christ, at least, you know, well, that's, that's

  358. your choice. You know, you make that choice,

  359. you know, and you know, it's, you know, what

  360. happens in the, in the, after you die is determined

  361. by what you do in this life. So if you choose

  362. to deny in this life after hearing the good word,

  363. well, then, you know, you made that choice, but

  364. if you choose to follow Christ, You know, especially

  365. if you're coming from a different faith and you

  366. say, no, Jesus is the truth, the way and the

  367. life. And I believe in him, you know, then, you

  368. know, that that's the power of free will. And

  369. that's the power of the good word, you know?

  370. Yeah. Yeah. Our job is really just to be faithful

  371. to Christ. And it takes time. Sure. It's a process.

  372. And realizing that, you know, God is beyond,

  373. it's beyond time. So he's not too concerned about

  374. time. He has all the time in the world. We're

  375. concerned about time. You know, C .S. Lewis used

  376. to say I was the greatest skeptic in all of England.

  377. So it took him time and it was a process for

  378. him to come to Jesus. And for him it was more

  379. of an intellectual process. And for some people

  380. it's an emotional process. Or some people it's

  381. a spiritual process. But sometimes It takes the

  382. intellectual, emotional, spiritual work. And

  383. that takes time. Yeah. So we've talked about

  384. what makes it hard to witness or to share our

  385. faith with other people. But then on the flip

  386. side, are there things that make it joyful or

  387. that make it feel really meaningful? Like, why

  388. do we do this, even though it's hard? I think

  389. part of it is, Part of the joy is just seeing

  390. how there's many ways that people can come to

  391. Christ. It's not just one way, you know. For

  392. some, it's reading a verse in the Bible that

  393. confirms what they've believed all along. For

  394. others, it's getting to a low point and a dark

  395. point in their life. For others, you know, their

  396. journey is, well, my parents are Christian. My

  397. grandparents are Christian. I lived in a Christian

  398. household. That's the only way. And praise them

  399. for that, you know? So it really, we all have

  400. our different story. We all have a different

  401. reason why, like how we came to Christ. So it's

  402. nice to know because it's, at least for me, I

  403. find it easy, especially with most of my family

  404. not being Christian. It's easy to give up hope.

  405. Sure. It's easy to be like, you know what, they're

  406. all lost causes, right? But then again, I was

  407. a lost cause until 36 when I came to Christ.

  408. So, you know. Everybody has their own journey

  409. and maybe for most of them, they will never turn

  410. to Christ. Sure. But you know what? It's again,

  411. it's it's everybody's choice. And, you know,

  412. you just have to, you know, you just have to

  413. understand that, you know, if people come to

  414. Christ, it may not be, you know, at the time

  415. you think it is. And you just have to now that

  416. you're Christian, you have to focus on making

  417. sure that. you're still on the right path and

  418. that you're still following Christ. And our responsibility

  419. is to walk with them in love and then to share

  420. the words, if appropriate. But it's not our responsibility

  421. to pull them in. That's the Holy Spirit's responsibility.

  422. I love what Jimmy Carter used to say. There are

  423. two loves in the world, one for God and one for

  424. the person. happening to stand that happens to

  425. be standing in front of you and i i really like

  426. that you know so our responsibility is to love

  427. it's not to convert yeah that's jesus's responsibility

  428. that's god's responsibility yeah yeah yeah and

  429. i think the piece that you were saying a novel

  430. about like all of these different stories i think

  431. the joy for me in that is that like as I hear

  432. different people's stories and different ways

  433. that they have come to understand God, different

  434. ways they've come to experience God, like I actually

  435. get to learn more about who God is as well and

  436. how God works in the world, right? Like God works

  437. through our family history. God works through

  438. scripture. God works through intellect. God works

  439. through creation. Like all of these things are

  440. ways that people come to know and experience

  441. the love of Christ. And it's so cool to get to

  442. like see that. And, like, hear that from people,

  443. I think. Yeah. Yeah. The joy for me is just sharing

  444. with people my journey, you know. Yeah. The grace

  445. of God in my life, you know. Yeah. I could have

  446. gone through so many ways, you know. I remember

  447. at one point in my career, early in my career,

  448. I was the chief psychiatric social worker in

  449. the Kingston Penitentiary. Okay. And I remember.

  450. interviewing an inmate one time, and he said

  451. to me, you know, Hugh, given different circumstances,

  452. you could be behind bars and I could be where

  453. you are. Absolutely. And he was absolutely right.

  454. And for the grace of God, why? And I could have

  455. been there. Sure. And if I had been there, I'm

  456. sure that God would have met me there. Sure.

  457. As I experienced in my time there, that where

  458. God was very present there. Yeah. But, yeah,

  459. so the joy for me is to say, oh, my gosh, look

  460. at me. I'm a broken human being. And God has

  461. poured his grace on me throughout my life. And

  462. I can give examples of that. And I just share

  463. that with people. And that's joyful. Yeah. For

  464. sure. The joyful part of witnessing is that it

  465. makes me feel good within me because it's a privilege

  466. to witness to other people. And it's a great

  467. rewarding for the kingdom of God, bringing the

  468. vulnerable individual to Christ. During my routine

  469. rounds at the hospital doing spiritual care,

  470. most patients, they call me sunshine, you know,

  471. because they said I bring something good to them,

  472. you know. Not merely talking about the Bible,

  473. but the way I approach the individuals, you know,

  474. because some of the patients, they don't have

  475. family to visit them. And, you know, They are

  476. just lying there, so they need somebody to uplift

  477. them. So I always do the best I can to actively

  478. listen to their story, you know. Because a lot

  479. of things are happening around the world that

  480. a lot of stress contributes to a lot of sicknesses

  481. that people encounter in life. I thank God for

  482. my life to be part of the instrument that God

  483. is using for people, you know, to encourage and

  484. uplift them. Yeah. Yeah. So just like it. It's

  485. encouraging to us as we get to encourage other

  486. people and walk with them. Yeah, for sure. So

  487. I think I want us to end on a sort of practical,

  488. like, what do we do with all of this? What are

  489. some tips? What's some encouragement that we

  490. might offer to people who are feeling like, you

  491. know what? That sounds okay. That still sounds

  492. scary, though. Like, what do I do with this?

  493. So I think the first thing that comes to mind

  494. for me is we talked about in the challenges how

  495. we don't know how other people are going to react.

  496. And sometimes it might be with aggression or

  497. with indifference or whatever. And I think that

  498. that's definitely true. I think we need to be

  499. careful not to like over inflate that, though.

  500. Like, I think we need to be able to say, yeah,

  501. some people will react that way. But. In my experience,

  502. and maybe my experience is just particular, but

  503. like in my experience, most people aren't aggressive

  504. about it. Right. They're maybe not enthusiastic

  505. about it. They're not like, oh, wow, tell me

  506. more. But they're not going to be like grumpy

  507. about it. Yeah. And I think especially. if we

  508. start with relationship, like you was talking

  509. about, right? Like if, if we talk about faith

  510. in the context of building trust and of sharing

  511. love, if someone knows that we have their best

  512. interest in mind, rather than random stranger

  513. on the street, random stranger on the street

  514. might be grumpy about it because we just interrupted

  515. whatever they were doing. But if we're doing

  516. this from a context of relationship and love,

  517. then like, I think most people. are willing to

  518. hear us out even if they don't change their mind

  519. about it they're willing to sort of let us share

  520. so i think that relationship is really important

  521. and having some level of optimism i think we

  522. have to earn the right to do this yeah and we

  523. do that through building a relationship with

  524. them yeah yeah for sure so prayer is the key

  525. you know you pray and ask holy spirit to intervene

  526. and uh in what you're going to say and you have

  527. to be humble you know be like christ the way

  528. he was kind and compassionate towards others

  529. and um Not to be judgmental, you know. Sure,

  530. sure. And you set boundaries, you know. There

  531. is some rules that you have to follow. So don't

  532. be too pushy, pushy. Yeah. Yeah, it goes back

  533. to, again, what Hugh had said earlier about respecting

  534. each person's integrity, respecting their free

  535. will, not... driving the argument too hard. And

  536. yeah, I think prayer is a super important place

  537. to start praying for yourself, that God would

  538. give you the words, God would give you that sense

  539. of peace and confidence, but also praying for

  540. the other person. We're all, you know, every

  541. human being is searching, whether they are really

  542. fully recognizing that or not. You know what

  543. Pascal used to say, you know, In every human

  544. being, there's a God -shaped vacuum. And so everybody

  545. has a God -shaped vacuum. And our responsibility

  546. is to try to fill that vacuum. where they're

  547. at as human beings. We may just be pouring a

  548. cup and the other person will pour another cup

  549. and somebody might pour a gallon. But that rod

  550. -shaped vacuum will be filled, if not by us,

  551. by someone else. We're part of the process. For

  552. sure, for sure. Yeah, what would you add, Amavo?

  553. Any practical advice or encouragement? Yeah,

  554. I would say one, Be unapologetically Christian.

  555. Stand by your beliefs. Stand by what you, you

  556. know, stand by the word. And I think what the

  557. thing is to understand is it's okay if people

  558. don't accept that you're Christian. It's okay

  559. if people don't accept Christ. It's okay if they

  560. don't have a good reaction, you know. At the

  561. end of the day, God is always with us. Jesus

  562. is always with us. And always remember, we always

  563. have our community. Yeah. We always have, you

  564. know, even if you're the only Christian in the

  565. family. Yeah. It's like, you know, go to your

  566. life group. Go to church on Sunday. Meet up with

  567. fellow Christians. Keep each other in, you know,

  568. like help each other and support each other.

  569. Because even if your blood family don't have

  570. your back or they're not following Jesus, you

  571. know, we all have brothers and sisters in Christ.

  572. Yeah. Yeah. So lean on each other. Know that

  573. as we're sharing our faith, even if we're alone

  574. in that moment, we're not doing it alone. Right.

  575. We have people who have our back. We have that

  576. seed that we're planting that someone else will

  577. water. Yes. Right. Yeah. And everyone is created.

  578. Everybody's created in God's image. So whether

  579. they believe what you believe, they're still

  580. created in God's image. So our responsibility

  581. is to respond to the God in them. Yeah. I think

  582. you had a Bible verse you wanted to end this

  583. with. I just want to end with Acts 1 .8, which

  584. says, But you will receive power when the Holy

  585. Spirit comes on you. And you will be my witness

  586. in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria and to

  587. the ends of the earth. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah.

  588. So that, that remember the reminder that it comes

  589. with God's power, that we don't do this work

  590. on our own. And that all of these spiritual practices

  591. that we've been talking about for the past number

  592. of weeks. Feed us in such a way that allow us

  593. to go out and share our faith with other people.

  594. Right. Like if you're not in prayer and scripture

  595. and community, and if you're not intentionally

  596. spending time with God, you're not going to be

  597. a good witness. Right. And so building our life

  598. first. Founded in Christ, founded in these, all

  599. of these practices so that we can go out and

  600. share the good news of Christ with other people.

  601. Yeah. So thank you so much, folks. And thank

  602. you for tuning in to this week's episode of Trinity

  603. Talks. I pray that you find your foundation in

  604. Christ, that you are able to find ways to then

  605. share that faith with the people who are around

  606. you, whether that is in your words or your actions

  607. or just in simple acts of light and love. And

  608. we will see you again next week.
