  1. Let's turn together to the prophecy of Isaiah to chapter number 6 and we can read at the beginning of the chapter.

  2. ! Isaiah chapter 6 and at verse 1.

    Isaiah 6 chapter mention

  3. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of his robe filled the temple.

  4. And so on down through the following verses.

  5. I guess the best thing that we can spend our time studying in life is how to become a Christian and how to live as a Christian.

  6. And I want us in the weeks that are to come and the times that we are together to look at something of what Isaiah has to say about becoming a Christian and being a Christian.

  7. I think it's fair to say when we read our Bibles, there are three particular things that are repeated throughout the whole of the Bible.

  8. And the first of these is that the Bible speaks about our personal condition.

  9. Where are we? What are we like?

  10. The Bible speaks about our personal condition.

  11. That's what happens here.

  12. The second thing the Bible does, it compares what we are like now to what we should be.

  13. And God has made us for himself.

  14. And when he tells us what we're like now, the Bible compares that to what we should be, what God has made us for.

  15. And the third thing is that there is always a remedy.

  16. So that if what I am does not correspond to what I should be, then there's a remedy.

  17. And of course we know the remedy is the Lord Jesus.

  18. These three things are crucial.

  19. As you read our Bibles, what does God say about me where I am?

  20. What does God say about where I should be?

  21. And what does God say about getting me from where I am to where I should be?

  22. And that's exactly what we have in this prophecy of Isaiah.

  23. There's a story here about people.

  24. God describes them in chapter 1 as his own children.

  25. And he raised up children and they rebelled against him.

  26. They are not what they should have been.

  27. And down through these first chapters, there is the sense of God reminding them of that.

  28. And there is also the sense of God drawing their attention to the remedy that he will provide.

  29. That there is a new norm that he will create because of his love and because of his grace.

  30. And in many ways, chapter 6 sets the scene for us as we look at what God has to say through Isaiah.

  31. And when you read this chapter, we can see it as a sign of the times.

  32. Uzziah is a sign of the times.

  33. King Uzziah died.

  34. He started off well as a king.

  35. God blessed him as a king.

  36. But later on, he grew proud and unfaithful.

  37. And he died a leper.

  38. He is a sign of the times.

  39. He started well.

  40. He finished badly.

  41. And Isaiah is brought before us here as a person through whom God is going to show how he's going to change the condition of the people.

  42. So as surely as Uzziah is a sign of the times, Isaiah is a sign of the grace of God in our lives.

  43. And bearing that in mind, I want to think today of the life of faith and the reconciling grace of God.

  44. I want to think first of all of the revelation.

  45. And clearly, that's what we have here.

  46. Something is made known that was not previously known and not being known by the people.

  47. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of his robe filled the temple.

  48. I saw the Lord.

  49. I saw the Lord.

  50. In this case, not the Lord who is the covenant savior of the people of God.

  51. In this case, it is Adonai, the Lord who has sovereignty over the whole of creation.

  52. The vision that he sees, the revelation that is given to him, is the revelation of the sovereign God of the universe who sits upon his throne and who is there for the purpose of judging the peoples of the earth.

  53. And whatever norm Isaiah had before all of this, suddenly his horizons change and suddenly there is a channel open and he is face to face with the Lord, the sovereign God who sits upon the throne.

  54. And as the God sits upon the throne, there is that sense of his glorious presence because we see in version number four that the house was filled with smoke.

  55. And when I read that in the Old Testament, I see God reconnecting with the world.

  56. I see Mount Sinai where God came down to speak to Moses.

  57. There is a reconnection.

  58. The mountain was wrapped in smoke.

  59. God is reconnecting.

  60. I see it in the life of Solomon when he builds the temple in all of its glory and he prays and God comes down and fills the temple with his glory.

  61. God is reconnecting with his people in the days of Solomon.

  62. And then we come into the New Testament and we see the same thing happening in the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  63. John tells us that we have seen his glory as the glory of the only begotten of the Father.

  64. God is reconnecting with our world through the passion of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

  65. And that's where we're at today.

  66. However marvelous it was that God reconnected with Israel in the days of Moses and with Israel in the days of Solomon,

  67. God has reconnected with us, with our world, by sending his Son to be our Savior.

  68. And there is that sense in this picture of reconnection in the midst of the chaos of the days of Isaiah.

  69. That there is this reconnection in the midst of that chaos to reverse the decline and to bring about change.

  70. We are here to worship God.

  71. We are here to have a sense of where we are and what we are doing.

  72. We are here to discover, perhaps for the first time,

  73. that the God who is far above what we are and can even begin to think about

  74. is also the God who is here with us.

  75. He shall be called Emmanuel, God with us.

  76. God is here.

  77. And God wants us today to look through the furnishings and to look through the buildings

  78. and to look through everything that is around us

  79. and to recognize that we are in the presence of God.

  80. And as you read on in version number two, the sense of the glory of God

  81. and this revelation is filled with movement, with a dynamic that speaks of an activity around the throne of God

  82. that is engaged in the reconnection process.

  83. And we see that the seraphim, in version number two,

  84. above him stood the seraphim, each hath six wings, with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

  85. They are the burning ones.

  86. They are the ones who are protecting the throne of God.

  87. There is reverence.

  88. They cover their faces.

  89. There is a sense of unworthiness.

  90. They cover their feet.

  91. There is a sense of submission to God in the same way they are covering their feet.

  92. And there is that sense of readiness to go and do what God wants them to do.

  93. With two, they were going to fly.

  94. There is a movement that brings about an expectation here around the throne of God.

  95. And they are a heavenly choir.

  96. They are singing in the presence of God.

  97. They are calling out to one another,

  98. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.

  99. The whole earth is filled with his glory.

  100. God is everywhere.

  101. And that is the message that God is giving to Isaiah.

  102. God is in the worship of God.

  103. God is in our everyday lives.

  104. God is in our homes, in our families, in our workplaces, in our school.

  105. Wherever we go, God is everywhere.

  106. And I may have mentioned it before, but there is a picture of what Isaiah's world was like and what our world is like.

  107. And it's taken from a book called Rewind Sinners to Reclaim.

  108. And there is a picture of life living in a house or a home where there are no skylights.

  109. And all the light that I get into this home is from the windows in the side.

  110. It's all horizontal.

  111. So everything arriving in this house comes from what's out there.

  112. And because there is no skylight, there's nothing comes from above.

  113. And through this revelation given to Isaiah, that's how the people of God were in the days of Isaiah.

  114. They were listening to what was out there in the world.

  115. They were conforming to what was out there in the world.

  116. And they weren't receiving anything from God, the God who was their God, who was their covenant Lord and covenant Savior.

  117. Heaven was closed and their hearts were wide open to the world in which they lived.

  118. And here now, God is reopening that channel.

  119. He's recreating that channel of communication.

  120. He's reconnecting with Isaiah and with the people in order to speak into their everyday experience.

  121. And how like my life and how like your life is that picture?

  122. Even when we come to worship God, how keenly are we aware that there is a channel from God's throne that speaks to us?

  123. How much do we spend worship and life thinking horizontally and not connecting with God?

  124. And God today wants to show us that he wants to break through this windowless roof of our lives

  125. and to cause his light to shine down so that we will hear from him.

  126. The revelation.

  127. We are coming to worship God, to see what God is like, and so that God will show us what he is like.

  128. Secondly, there is reconciliation.

  129. And the revelation creates two responses.

  130. And the first response is one of crisis.

  131. And the crisis is on the side of Isaiah.

  132. And we hear him crying out in verse number five,

  133. Woe is me, for I am lost.

  134. When I read the words, woe is me, it speaks of the judgment of God coming.

  135. We read the previous chapter and the words I use time after time to show the way in which God was coming to judge the people.

  136. And the first thing that Isaiah is conscious of.

  137. And the first thing that Isaiah is conscious of in the revelation given to him is that God is coming to judge him.

  138. And because of that, that he is actually lost.

  139. As if he was saying, I am already as good as dead.

  140. The revelation of the glory of God.

  141. The revelation of the glory of God.

  142. Floored Isaiah completely.

  143. And more or less took away his whole sense of life and of living.

  144. And that was the case simply because his eyes had seen the king, the Lord of hosts.

  145. You and I can look at an object.

  146. As I look at the clock right now, I'm just a glancing look.

  147. And that's a done.

  148. And we spend so much of life doing that.

  149. We glance at the Bible.

  150. We glance at things happening around us.

  151. But the seeing here is one of being captivated.

  152. It's one of being engrossed.

  153. It's one of having our eyes fixed entirely.

  154. Of being aware that this is the most important thing around me.

  155. And that everything else is forgotten about.

  156. That's where Isaiah found himself.

  157. He was alone with his God.

  158. And he sensed that he was alone with his God.

  159. And he could see no one but God.

  160. And in that moment of being captured by the glory of God,

  161. he found himself lost.

  162. Because of his sin.

  163. I am a man of unclean lips.

  164. For my eyes have seen the king, the Lord of hosts.

  165. He was unfit to sing with the heavenly choir.

  166. Later on in this prophecy,

  167. and Jesus quotes these words in the Gospels,

  168. that God was angry with his people

  169. because they were drawing near to him with their lips.

  170. But their hearts were far away.

  171. And suddenly, in this moment,

  172. Isaiah discovers his own personal sin

  173. as well as the sin of the people of God.

  174. He, in other words, comes to confess his sin.

  175. It's the sense of having my conscience awakened in such a way

  176. that I sense that what I've done wrong against God

  177. deserves the wrath of God.

  178. It's a light bulb moment because it's something that comes only when we see the glory of God.

  179. And we can go through life with any troubled conscience in any way,

  180. and we journey on day by day,

  181. and life is plain sailing.

  182. But when we are in the presence of God,

  183. it's not so.

  184. Because my sin deserves his judgment.

  185. When I see his light,

  186. my conscience tells me I'm guilty.

  187. And the first thing I'm going to do is to

  188. confess my sin to this God.

  189. And today,

  190. God wants you to have that response.

  191. He wants you to let his light

  192. shine not around you,

  193. but in your conscience.

  194. And in shining into your conscience,

  195. to let you see

  196. where you do go wrong.

  197. And to let you see that that wrongdoing

  198. is sin against God.

  199. And to bring you to the place

  200. where,

  201. as a sinner against God,

  202. you confess your sin.

  203. Because you know God knows it.

  204. And you take God's view of your sin.

  205. What is your condition?

  206. The condition is that we are sinners.

  207. That God says so.

  208. And when I come to confess my sin,

  209. I'm taking God's view of me

  210. and making it my own

  211. and saying to God,

  212. yes,

  213. you say I'm a sinner.

  214. I'm acknowledging before you

  215. that that's exactly what I am.

  216. And that's a huge first step

  217. on the pathway

  218. to becoming a Christian,

  219. to becoming the child of God.

  220. And reconnecting once more

  221. with the picture of the house

  222. without skylights.

  223. In that same book,

  224. there's the sense of

  225. two things happening.

  226. And that is

  227. that sin is being redefined

  228. by the world out there.

  229. And the world out there

  230. may speak about sin

  231. without any reference to God.

  232. And when I do wrong to my neighbor

  233. or wrong to the person next to me,

  234. then the world will say

  235. that's sin.

  236. I've wronged my neighbor

  237. without any reference to God.

  238. And of course,

  239. that is a sin

  240. to wrong my neighbor.

  241. But if I am no other reference

  242. but the person next to me,

  243. then I've excluded God

  244. from the picture.

  245. And that's what you and I

  246. must ensure that never happens.

  247. We want to take this image here

  248. and to let the light

  249. of the holiness of God

  250. shine into our hearts

  251. and to shine upon our sin

  252. and to understand that

  253. what we have done wrong

  254. is against the Holy God

  255. who is our creator.

  256. And that is alongside of that

  257. the whole cultural movement

  258. to eliminate sin

  259. from our vocabulary altogether.

  260. So that you and I

  261. can go and live life

  262. today and tomorrow

  263. and why should we worry about sin?

  264. It's removed from the vocabulary

  265. of the society around us

  266. and that society

  267. wants to remove it

  268. from our vocabulary as well.

  269. And we need to retain

  270. that sense of sin,

  271. that sense of sinfulness

  272. and that sense of sinnership

  273. with reference to God.

  274. It is the God who is holy

  275. that shows me my sin.

  276. And it is to him I must say,

  277. yes, I'm a sinner.

  278. I do confess my sin.

  279. That was the response of Isaiah.

  280. But thankfully,

  281. that wasn't the only response.

  282. There is the movement

  283. at God's throne.

  284. That imagery following

  285. the confession of Isaiah,

  286. the seraphim are flying around

  287. in submission to God,

  288. humble before God,

  289. waiting to fly out

  290. at God's command

  291. and suddenly the command

  292. comes from the throne of God

  293. and there is a seraphim

  294. that moves into action.

  295. And that's what we have

  296. in verse number six.

  297. Then one of the seraphim

  298. flew to me,

  299. having in his hand

  300. a burning coal

  301. that he had taken

  302. with tongues

  303. from the altar.

  304. The seraphim

  305. with the burning coal

  306. taken from the altar

  307. and making his journey

  308. towards Isaiah.

  309. We don't know exactly

  310. what the image was

  311. or what the coal was,

  312. but we do know this much

  313. that in God's temple

  314. there is an altar

  315. where sacrifice

  316. is made to take away sin

  317. and there is an altar

  318. where there is

  319. prayer offered to God

  320. on the basis

  321. of sin being taken away.

  322. So there is

  323. death for sin,

  324. the punishment of sin,

  325. and then there is a place

  326. where we have peace

  327. with God.

  328. And when I see this image

  329. in the temple

  330. before Isaiah

  331. and the seraphim

  332. comes to take

  333. a coal of the altar,

  334. he's not taking

  335. the coal of the altar

  336. where sacrifice

  337. was made.

  338. He's taking the coal

  339. of the altar

  340. where peace is declared

  341. and where God

  342. is reconciled

  343. to the people.

  344. And that's a crucial difference

  345. when I see this

  346. seraphim coming

  347. towards Isaiah.

  348. It's not to condemn him

  349. for his sin,

  350. it's to bring him

  351. the good news

  352. that sin has been removed

  353. and that there is now

  354. peace with God.

  355. What a journey.

  356. That in the invisible realm

  357. of heaven

  358. there is this moment

  359. in the invisible world

  360. of Isaiah himself

  361. that then there is heaven

  362. moving towards him

  363. with the seraphim

  364. to come

  365. to where he is found.

  366. And the journey

  367. is one

  368. for the purpose

  369. of reconnection,

  370. of reconciliation.

  371. He touched my mouth

  372. and said,

  373. Behold,

  374. this has touched

  375. your lips.

  376. Your guilt is taken away

  377. and your sin

  378. is

  379. atoned for.

  380. This

  381. has touched

  382. your lips.

  383. I can touch

  384. something

  385. with a hard touch.

  386. I can touch

  387. something

  388. with a gentle touch.

  389. I can touch

  390. my children

  391. when I sleep

  392. to comfort them

  393. and to encourage

  394. them to go to sleep.

  395. It's the gentle touch.

  396. And when I read

  397. touch here,

  398. it's not the hard touch.

  399. It's the gentle touch

  400. of a heavenly father.

  401. And the gentle touch

  402. of a heavenly father

  403. is the touch

  404. through which

  405. there is

  406. forgiveness

  407. and there is

  408. reconciliation.

  409. We can remind ourselves

  410. of the story

  411. of the woman

  412. who came to Jesus

  413. in Luke chapter 8.

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  414. She was in the crowd

  415. and she came

  416. believing firmly

  417. that if she touched

  418. with the garment

  419. of Jesus,

  420. she would be healed.

  421. And she came

  422. and touched him.

  423. Nobody knew that.

  424. And Jesus

  425. stops the conversation,

  426. someone has touched me.

  427. Who has touched me?

  428. And of course

  429. the disciples

  430. are saying,

  431. how can you ask

  432. that question?

  433. With the crowds

  434. around us,

  435. how can you ask

  436. who touched me?

  437. Everyone is touching you.

  438. But Jesus said,

  439. I recognize

  440. that power has gone

  441. out from me.

  442. That's the reconnection.

  443. That's the reconciliation.

  444. That's the peace

  445. with God

  446. through our Lord

  447. Jesus Christ.

  448. And in this moment

  449. today,

  450. as we reflect

  451. upon this revelation

  452. and where God's

  453. word finds us

  454. and where God

  455. wants to take us,

  456. here we see

  457. Isaiah

  458. taken from

  459. the place

  460. of condemnation

  461. and taken

  462. to a place

  463. of reconciliation,

  464. of peace

  465. with God

  466. through this

  467. dynamic movement

  468. from the throne

  469. of God

  470. that touches

  471. his lips

  472. and his sin

  473. is taken away.

  474. We can

  475. perhaps begin

  476. to imagine

  477. something of

  478. the transformation

  479. in Isaiah's

  480. experience

  481. and we'll see

  482. as we read on.

  483. But in that

  484. moment of

  485. touching,

  486. power has gone

  487. out from God,

  488. from Jesus,

  489. through Jesus,

  490. by the Spirit

  491. of God

  492. and our sin

  493. is taken

  494. away.

  495. And today

  496. we are thankful

  497. that in the Lord

  498. Jesus

  499. our sin

  500. is taken away.

  501. Isaiah speaks

  502. powerfully

  503. in chapter 53

  504. of the very way

  505. in which the

  506. Son of God,

  507. the servant

  508. of Jehovah

  509. is coming

  510. to suffer

  511. in our place,

  512. to bear our sins,

  513. to be a sacrifice

  514. for our sins

  515. and to raise us

  516. up into newness

  517. of life.

  518. And we come

  519. today with

  520. the guilt

  521. of our sin

  522. and with our

  523. sense of being

  524. condemned

  525. because of our sin.

  526. We come to put

  527. our trust

  528. in the Lord Jesus

  529. where Paul

  530. tells us

  531. there is

  532. therefore

  533. now no

  534. condemnation

  535. to those

  536. who are in

  537. Christ Jesus.

  538. The great

  539. reconnecting

  540. grace

  541. of God.

  542. And in the

  543. invisible world

  544. of your

  545. heart and life,

  546. perhaps in this

  547. very moment,

  548. heaven's

  549. dynamic power

  550. is moving

  551. toward you

  552. to place

  553. the hand

  554. of God

  555. upon your

  556. heart,

  557. to wash

  558. away your

  559. sin and

  560. to give you

  561. peace with

  562. him through

  563. the Lord

  564. Jesus Christ.

  565. You cannot

  566. invite that.

  567. You cannot

  568. demand that.

  569. But the

  570. Lord who sits

  571. upon his

  572. throne,

  573. that's how he

  574. works,

  575. to save people

  576. like you and

  577. like me.

  578. he comes

  579. in this

  580. invisible way

  581. to change

  582. us in our

  583. hearts,

  584. take away

  585. our guilty

  586. conscience

  587. and give us

  588. a sense of

  589. his peace.

  590. The

  591. reconciliation,

  592. fundamental,

  593. basic to

  594. being a

  595. Christian and

  596. from there

  597. we go to

  598. live life

  599. as a

  600. Christian.

  601. So we

  602. have

  603. revelation,

  604. we have

  605. reconciliation

  606. and thirdly

  607. and finally

  608. we have

  609. responsibility

  610. and Isaiah

  611. did not

  612. shy away

  613. from the

  614. responsibility

  615. that God

  616. called him

  617. to.

  618. And we

  619. see the

  620. responsibility

  621. because God

  622. has a

  623. mission

  624. and God's

  625. mission is

  626. for this

  627. people,

  628. his own

  629. people.

  630. He has a

  631. ministry,

  632. he has a

  633. message for

  634. them.

  635. And we

  636. hear this

  637. message coming

  638. out in

  639. verse number

  640. eight.

  641. I heard

  642. the voice

  643. of the

  644. Lord saying

  645. whom shall

  646. I send

  647. and who

  648. will go

  649. for us?

  650. One

  651. becomes

  652. three.

  653. And the

  654. God who is

  655. speaking,

  656. suddenly there

  657. are three

  658. people,

  659. there is

  660. God,

  661. Father,

  662. Son and

  663. Holy Spirit

  664. who will

  665. go for

  666. us?

  667. We have

  668. this mission

  669. to save

  670. the world.

  671. We have

  672. this mission

  673. to save the

  674. people in

  675. the days

  676. of Isaiah.

  677. After all

  678. that God

  679. has done

  680. for Isaiah,

  681. who now

  682. is going

  683. to go

  684. for us?

  685. The sound

  686. of the

  687. voice of

  688. God

  689. because of

  690. the mission

  691. of God

  692. and because

  693. of those

  694. who have

  695. not yet

  696. experienced

  697. what Isaiah

  698. experienced.

  699. Who will

  700. go for

  701. us?

  702. And for

  703. every person

  704. who becomes

  705. a Christian,

  706. for every person

  707. who becomes

  708. the child

  709. of God,

  710. it's the

  711. moment of

  712. beginning to

  713. serve.

  714. It's the

  715. moment of

  716. God calling

  717. us to

  718. himself to

  719. be at

  720. peace with

  721. him and

  722. from that

  723. peace to

  724. be ready

  725. to go

  726. and serve.

  727. And of

  728. course,

  729. there is a

  730. central element

  731. to our

  732. salvation,

  733. to us

  734. becoming

  735. Christians,

  736. that is

  737. very

  738. personal.

  739. It changes

  740. who we

  741. are and

  742. we have

  743. the joy

  744. of the

  745. Spirit of

  746. God because

  747. of our

  748. new

  749. relationship

  750. with God.

  751. But that

  752. moment,

  753. as

  754. personal as

  755. it is,

  756. it is

  757. preparation,

  758. it is

  759. equipping,

  760. it is

  761. getting us

  762. ready

  763. to serve

  764. God.

  765. and to

  766. be his

  767. disciples.

  768. And we

  769. see the

  770. immediate

  771. response

  772. from Isaiah

  773. when the

  774. voice goes

  775. out,

  776. who will

  777. go for

  778. us?

  779. Then I

  780. said,

  781. look at

  782. me,

  783. here am

  784. I,

  785. don't look

  786. any further,

  787. send

  788. me.

  789. I will

  790. go wherever

  791. you want

  792. me to

  793. go.

  794. Jesus

  795. said to

  796. the

  797. disciples,

  798. as the

  799. Father has

  800. sent me,

  801. so I

  802. send you.

  803. God is

  804. calling us

  805. today to

  806. the

  807. revelation

  808. of his

  809. glory in

  810. the

  811. gospel and

  812. the

  813. passion of

  814. Jesus

  815. Christ.

  816. He is

  817. calling us

  818. to embrace

  819. the

  820. reconciliation

  821. that we

  822. have in

  823. the gospel,

  824. and having

  825. done so,

  826. he is

  827. calling us

  828. to serve

  829. him,

  830. to be the

  831. light of

  832. the world,

  833. to be the

  834. salt of

  835. the earth.

  836. God

  837. calls us

  838. to serve.

  839. It may

  840. simply be

  841. going back

  842. to school

  843. this week,

  844. somebody who

  845. has learned

  846. about Jesus,

  847. and who

  848. goes to

  849. school serving

  850. the Lord

  851. Jesus,

  852. sharing what

  853. you have

  854. learned about

  855. the Lord

  856. Jesus.

  857. That's what

  858. God,

  859. that's what

  860. Jesus calls

  861. you to do.

  862. If you

  863. have received

  864. the blessing,

  865. then you

  866. are to

  867. share it

  868. with those

  869. who are

  870. in school

  871. with you.

  872. You go

  873. back to

  874. studying at

  875. university or

  876. college,

  877. go back to

  878. the workplace,

  879. we are

  880. here to

  881. serve.

  882. We are

  883. called upon

  884. to show

  885. our appreciation

  886. of what God

  887. has done by

  888. being just

  889. like Isaiah,

  890. here am I,

  891. send me.

  892. And so

  893. that with

  894. the spirit

  895. of Isaiah,

  896. with the

  897. spirit of

  898. the gospel,

  899. with the

  900. spirit of

  901. the discipleship,

  902. whatever there

  903. is a need,

  904. God is

  905. calling you

  906. and me to

  907. fill that

  908. gap and

  909. to fill that

  910. space and

  911. to ensure

  912. that we

  913. are serving

  914. God in

  915. accordance with

  916. God's call

  917. upon us.

  918. And the

  919. call can be,

  920. as I said,

  921. something very

  922. local and

  923. something that

  924. perhaps we

  925. would dismiss.

  926. But the

  927. call may

  928. also be to

  929. a more

  930. full-time

  931. focused service

  932. in the

  933. church of

  934. Christ.

  935. And God

  936. may call us

  937. to serve in

  938. school and

  939. to serve in

  940. university and

  941. college and

  942. to serve in

  943. a workplace.

  944. But God

  945. may also

  946. call you,

  947. even today,

  948. to serve

  949. him in the

  950. full-time

  951. ministry of

  952. the gospel

  953. where there

  954. is a need.

  955. And wherever

  956. God has a

  957. claim upon

  958. our lives,

  959. then here is

  960. the response

  961. of discipleship.

  962. Here am I.

  963. Send me.

  964. Are you

  965. willing to

  966. go for

  967. Jesus,

  968. to speak

  969. for Jesus,

  970. to serve

  971. Jesus,

  972. and to

  973. show your

  974. appreciation

  975. of all that

  976. God has

  977. done for

  978. you in

  979. Jesus by

  980. reconnecting

  981. with you and

  982. by giving

  983. you that

  984. peace of

  985. God to

  986. dwell in

  987. your heart.

  988. May God

  989. bless his

  990. word.

  991. Let us

  992. pray.

  993. Most

  994. gracious

  995. God, we

  996. rejoice in

  997. you.

  998. You are

  999. the God

  1000. and Father

  1001. of our

  1002. Lord Jesus

  1003. Christ.

  1004. You have

  1005. given your

  1006. Son to

  1007. be our

  1008. Saviour.

  1009. You have

  1010. made yourself

  1011. known to

  1012. us,

  1013. especially

  1014. in him

  1015. and through

  1016. him.

  1017. And we

  1018. pray that

  1019. you will

  1020. bless our

  1021. hearts

  1022. today with

  1023. a sense

  1024. of the

  1025. revelation

  1026. that you

  1027. have given

  1028. to us

  1029. in the

  1030. Lord Jesus,

  1031. with a

  1032. sense of

  1033. having peace

  1034. with you

  1035. through your

  1036. saving grace

  1037. and with a

  1038. sense of

  1039. being ready

  1040. to follow

  1041. you and

  1042. to serve

  1043. you all

  1044. the days

  1045. of our

  1046. lives.

  1047. Help us

  1048. to have

  1049. that humble

  1050. obedience

  1051. in response

  1052. to your

  1053. saving grace.

  1054. Guide us

  1055. and bless

  1056. your word

  1057. as we

  1058. pray.

  1059. We pray

  1060. these things

  1061. for Jesus

  1062. sake.

  1063. Amen.

  1064. So

  1065. closing

  1066. psalm is

  1067. psalm number

  1068. 24 of

  1069. the Scottish

  1070. Psalter.

  1071. It's on

  1072. page 230.

  1073. And we're

  1074. going to

  1075. sing from

  1076. verse 7

  1077. to the

  1078. end of

  1079. the psalm.

  1080. It's a

  1081. great psalm

  1082. about the

  1083. glory of

  1084. the king.

  1085. And we

  1086. want to

  1087. sing these

  1088. verses

  1089. together.

  1090. And the

  1091. tune is

  1092. St.

  1093. George's

  1094. Edinburgh.

  1095. And

  1096. verse number

  1097. 7.

  1098. Ye gates

  1099. lift up

  1100. your heads

  1101. on high.

  1102. Ye doors

  1103. that last

  1104. foray

  1105. be lifted

  1106. up that

  1107. so the

  1108. king

  1109. of glory

  1110. enter

  1111. may.

  1112. We

  1113. stand to

  1114. sing from

  1115. verse 7

  1116. to the

  1117. end of

  1118. the psalm

  1119. to God's

  1120. praise.

  1121. Amen.

  1122. Amen.

  1123. Amen.

  1124. Ye gates

  1125. lift up

  1126. your heads

  1127. on high.

  1128. Ye doors

  1129. that last

  1130. foray

  1131. be lifted

  1132. up that

  1133. so the

  1134. king of

  1135. glory

  1136. enter

  1137. me.

  1138. But

  1139. who

  1140. of

  1141. glory

  1142. is

  1143. the

  1144. king?

  1145. The

  1146. mighty

  1147. Lord

  1148. is

  1149. this.

  1150. In

  1151. !

  1152. He

  1153. in

  1154. that

  1155. same

  1156. Lord

  1157. that

  1158. great

  1159. in

  1160. might

  1161. and

  1162. strong

  1163. in

  1164. heart

  1165. in

  1166. live.

  1167. Ye gates

  1168. lift up

  1169. !

  1170. He

  1171. is

  1172. that

  1173. to

  1174. last

  1175. foray

  1176. be

  1177. up

  1178. that

  1179. saw

  1180. the

  1181. king

  1182. of

  1183. glory

  1184. enter

  1185. me.

  1186. me.

  1187. But

  1188. who

  1189. is he

  1190. that

  1191. is

  1192. the

  1193. king

  1194. of

  1195. glory?

  1196. Who

  1197. is

  1198. this?

  1199. The

  1200. Lord

  1201. of

  1202. hosts

  1203. and

  1204. none

  1205. but

  1206. he

  1207. the

  1208. king

  1209. of

  1210. glory

  1211. is

  1212. the

  1213. Lord

  1214. of

  1215. hosts

  1216. and

  1217. none

  1218. but

  1219. he

  1220. the

  1221. king

  1222. of

  1223. glory

  1224. is

  1225. hallelujah

  1226. hallelujah

  1227. hallelujah

1228. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Amen, Amen, Amen.

1229. I'll go to the main door after the benediction.

1230. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all now and forevermore. Amen.

  1231. Amen.

  1232. Amen.

  1233. Amen.

  1234. Amen.

  1235. Amen.

  1236. Amen.

  1237. Amen.

  1238. Amen.

  1239. Amen.

  1240. Amen.

  1241. Amen.

  1242. Amen.

  1243. Amen.

  1244. Amen.

  1245. Amen.

  1246. Amen.
