  1. Welcome to the official podcast of Rock Hill Baptist Church 2

  2. where we are focused on glorifying God, spreading the

  3. gospel, and making disciples of Jesus Christ right here in the

  4. heart of Greenville, SC. Each week we bring you a life

  5. changing word from our Senior Pastor, Pastor Matthew D Long

  6. Junior, or one of our anointed guest speakers.

  7. We pray this message strengthens your faith, deepens your

  8. understanding, and empowers you to elevate in every area of your

  9. life. Let's join the service already

  10. in progress. Fathered in a sense hundreds of

  11. of youth around the country and still do.

  12. I mean, I say, father, I use it from the definition I've given

  13. to you before of establishing patterns that they, they

  14. literally produce a certain type of individual, not just in

  15. Greenville, SC, but literally across this country.

  16. And they have tapped into a blueprint that is relevant, that

  17. is necessary for the 21st century.

  18. So, if you don't mind, can you give a rousing applause for Mr.

  19. Alfius Anderson as he comes in Graces today?

  20. Yes, Sir. Yes, Sir, Yes, Sir.

  21. So I hope you got your Bible because I've got Bible for you

  22. all day, all day long. But I, I found that sometimes

  23. you read Scripture and we mess it up.

  24. I mean read it like Tang. Is that really what it says?

  25. Is that what I make it say? And recently I was in

  26. Ecclesiastes chapter 6 and I ran across something that really,

    Ecclesiastes 6 chapter mention

  27. really, really, really changed my perspective.

  28. Matter of fact, read it with me. I want you to read this

  29. Ecclesiastes chapter 6, and let's see, I can do that.

    Ecclesiastes 6 chapter mention

  30. You got your bow. OK, let's do verse number.

  31. How about verse #4? I think that's what I want.

  32. That's it. I'm, I'm sorry, Ephesians,

  33. that's Ecclesiastes. Ephesians chapter 6.

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  34. Is it not looking familiar to you?

  35. OK, so as a kid, this this script used to I mean, you let

  36. me do something wrong and and then get that Bible out.

  37. That's my dad. You know, let's preach.

  38. I'm 4th generation PK and he will say, come on, read the

  39. Bible. And so before he be with me

  40. because it is Father's Day, I'm going to tell the Business Today

  41. who I'm going to tell it. He he would he would make me

  42. read the word. I said you will get this word,

  43. but you get your butt cut. Read it verse for children.

  44. Obey your parents in the is that what your Bible say?

  45. Thank you, mother Spurgeous. Oh yeah, uh huh.

  46. Obey your parents in the Lord Colon for this is right and that

  47. we right we together we on the OK verse 2 honor thy father

  48. mother, which is the first commandment with promise three

  49. that it may be well with thee you and so that you can have

  50. long life on the earth. I'm on the edge of my seat like

  51. oh Lord, I'm about to come back get cut today.

  52. Verse 4 is not where we ever went to.

  53. We stopped at verse 3. Verse 4 says and ye fathers,

  54. provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the

  55. nurture and admonition of the Lord.

  56. Check this out. It's crazy as I was just just

  57. doing a little work, a little work.

  58. I was looking up that the Greek for this and when you read

  59. Ephesians chapter 6 verse 4 says and you Father's provoke not

    Ephesians 6:4

  60. your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and

  61. admonition Lord, that that phrase provoked to wrath is one

  62. word. It's not 3 words.

  63. It is one word. Matter of fact, I'm gonna help

  64. you speak in tongues today. That word is pangizio.

  65. Help me out. Say I'm sorry.

  66. Paragizio, paragizio. Say it again.

  67. Paragizio, Paragizio, paragizio paragizio paragizio.

  68. Paragizio. Paragizio is comes from 2 words.

  69. The 1st word of the root word is para.

  70. Para is a preposition which means from, of, AT, by, besides,

  71. near. And then the second root of the

  72. second-half of that word is or Giza or Giza which means to

  73. provoke, to rouse, to anger. When you research this, it

  74. really means to pull out from what's hidden.

  75. So he says, fathers don't pull out.

  76. What's hidden? Hidden anger.

  77. Wow, look at your Bible then. It has some colons, Colon says.

  78. We need to expound more on this. He says, but now y'all old

  79. school? Who's in the room?

  80. What does the mayor say? Old school?

  81. Schoolhouse Rock, Right? Let us know.

  82. Conjunction, Conjunction. What's your function?

  83. Right, right that that butt says, ah, halt.

  84. But bring them up in the nurture.

  85. Nurturing is always synonymous with mothering, right in the

  86. nurture and admonition of the Lord.

  87. So let me give you the revelation as we get into this

  88. conversation. Could it be that in giving a

  89. pattern to sons, sons gender neutral, male and female to

  90. children, that is the responsibility of the father?

  91. Not to draw out the anger, but to then instead nurture them and

  92. to put them in an environment where they are surrounded by

  93. only the presence of the Lord. Totally different spin on that

  94. tax. Totally different.

  95. So all my life, always known as that Daddy may not make that son

  96. mad. Don't don't make your child

  97. angry. But statistically, we have a

  98. generation full of angry kids. Oh, I don't like your mouth.

  99. It's it's too clap too close for me.

  100. You got to talk to me that that we've got mad and angry kids.

  101. And could it be because we've misinterpreted the scripture and

  102. we thought that I just was supposed to make you mad?

  103. But really the the text is saying don't constantly pull out

  104. the anger that's in the child. So how do I not do that?

  105. That's why we're here. We do that and how we move the

  106. child. Everybody say the mind, the mind

  107. one more time. Say the mind third time.

  108. Come on, say the mind, the mind, the mind, the mind.

  109. That's that's that's what God's come to save.

  110. He's coming to save our soul. Our soul is harbored in the mind

  111. and the mind let this mind be in you, which is also in Christ

  112. Jesus. The mind, the mind.

  113. The issue is what happens to the mind?

  114. What happens to the mind? We're talking about fathers,

  115. fatherhood, oftentimes we, and again, this is no, no ripe over

  116. wash over, but we talk about poor examples, poor moments, and

  117. it could be because we just don't simply understand the

  118. mind. I got a word for you.

  119. You ready? Thank you.

  120. I appreciate you. It's adult ISM.

  121. Write that one down adult and add ISM at the end.

  122. Adult ISM. Adult ISM is something that I

  123. have suffered with because I said as a kid I can't wait to be

  124. an adult because when I'm an adult, I'm going to be the one.

  125. When I'm the adult. Ain't nobody going to tell me

  126. when I'm the adult. And the truth is, I became that

  127. adult. I'm going to be very honest.

  128. Let me give it to you in a second and be very honest.

  129. In my work as the director of education, Youth Services, it

  130. has caused me to confront a lot of errors in my thought process,

  131. in my mind, because I thought, because I was the adult, because

  132. the authority rested in me, did that mean I was the end all be

  133. all? Praise the Lord, because at the

  134. end of the day, before anybody else get a charge, a call,

  135. responsibility, it's always the man.

  136. It's stuck. It stops with the buck, stops

  137. with us. Been taught that all my life.

  138. Man up right, man up on the job, man up in your homes.

  139. Well, I realized that that could have been that could have been

  140. half correct as well. Adultism.

  141. What is that? That's a good question.

  142. Adultism is when you have a prejudice against a younger

  143. person. Let me use another another word

  144. for that, because those big words, it is when you you say,

  145. you demonstrate. You enact only what you think

  146. and approve to be correct and true Adultism.

  147. All right, somebody said, this still ain't hitting me.

  148. It's OK. Have you ever heard a child say,

  149. why Mama? Why daddy?

  150. And there's a famous response. It's a part of the adult package

  151. you get you get in the flash card and when you need it, you

  152. know, you just you just go back and you say because I said so.

  153. If it feel good being able to say that too, I ain't going to

  154. lie. I ain't got to explain because I

  155. said so. That's adultism.

  156. I know I can't prepare to slay a couple devils.

  157. I did. I knew it was going to be here.

  158. It's adultism. That is when you remove the

  159. voice of a younger individual, the voice that comes from a

  160. heart and a mind that is in development.

  161. So a lot of times kids are asking questions and we refer to

  162. adult ISM or we go into the adult ISM because we don't want

  163. to deal with it. What does it do?

  164. It provokes children to anchor. Oh, that's, that is that's

  165. tough. Go back and listen to this

  166. again. Feast on this again.

  167. Because all those moments I was, you know, because I said because

  168. I did, I was wrong. Check this out.

  169. The brain the brain. The brain of a 2 year old has

  170. twice as many synapses as an adult.

  171. It is constantly living in this emotional state.

  172. You love it, but eventually you get a little tired of him.

  173. Y'all tight on me? I don't know what it take Deacon

  174. has this heat must must be getting you.

  175. It's it's the emotional response that sometimes messes with our

  176. adult ISM not realizing that that 2 year old, that child,

  177. that baby is communicating. Check this out according to its

  178. brain development. Let's go a little bit.

  179. Let's get a little older. All right you, you, you have a

  180. an 8 year old 7 year old right. Each I figure out who keep

  181. eating Oh my candy, who keeps messing with the little Debbie's

  182. who is sneaking into my Eminem power right Yeah Oh, I'm sorry.

  183. I almost got some different kids.

  184. Well, the the brain of of that 7-8 year old has not just only

  185. been steeped in emotionalism as we would say, but the part of

  186. the brain now realized that it wants instant satisfaction and

  187. it is living its life off of dopamine.

  188. Do it get get the reward of happiness that you want.

  189. And they are at the stage, but they just want to be happy.

  190. If it's going to make them happy, they're going to do it.

  191. At this stage, they've got the back of their brain from that

  192. brain stem to another part on the side that's developing.

  193. But you know what is not fully developed?

  194. That prefrontal frontal lobe, that that part that helps decide

  195. what to do or not to do. And you know what the issue is?

  196. What you say, I didn't hear you, what you say, talk loud to me,

  197. decision making. So the issue becomes you have

  198. your 57 year old brain and you're trying to take your 57

  199. year old brain and and conditioned it to a 8 year old

  200. brain and it doesn't match adultism.

  201. And what happens? We provoke them to anger because

  202. then instead of talking, get out.

  203. God, if you don't get up by my camera.

  204. It's happened to all of us. All right, let me let me get to

  205. my last one and I'm gonna hand it over for real. 1314151617

  206. comes that brains been steeped in emotions.

  207. It's been chasing reward, but now a third part of that brain

  208. really starts developing and this part of the brain has

  209. advanced emotions in and out, inside out.

  210. I think it's inside out one. And two, if you've never seen

  211. those movies, great movies to watch to really understand

  212. what's happening in your child's brain.

  213. It's at this moment that child now is not just chasing a high,

  214. that child is also chasing risk that the part of the brain that

  215. says we can do it is always on 100.

  216. So these emotions go from extremely high to extremely low

  217. and our 37 year old brain is trying to rationalize the risk,

  218. the reward and we suck at the recovery.

  219. So what do we do? Provoke them to anger.

  220. And we got we got young kings man at the house who's going

  221. through all these changes, all these changes.

  222. There's a there's research out there that says children between

  223. zero to 15 or 16, I believe, are processing based upon your face

  224. how and what to do. But 40% of the time they

  225. misunderstand what your face is saying to ain't that something

  226. they hear you say one thing. And their brain is trying to

  227. process with their eyes what they see on your face.

  228. So no, was this really good? It's really bad.

  229. Are they happy? Are they sad?

  230. And the whole time they have big emotions on the inside.

  231. So I'm going to give my last point and we will really get to

  232. this conversation. What do you do?

  233. What you do is you have conversations.

  234. One, one thing that we have struggled with is talking and,

  235. and I, I know you won't, you won't beat the hell out of them.

  236. So all you have is heaven left. That's what my dad would say.

  237. But I would suggest that you would take the time to really

  238. get into their actual brain because that developing brain is

  239. trying to figure out what to do. So you got to help them talk out

  240. what is the thing to do or not to do.

  241. Why did they do it? We struggle with that.

  242. If you can do that, I promise you your child would be a

  243. millionaire. Because the things most children

  244. struggle with is computing and then giving the analytics, the

  245. data, the, the rationale or what they were computing in their

  246. brain. For that reason, I got to tap

  247. into the blueprint, the, the, the guru, the strategist of how

  248. in the world do you get all of these kids who are in all these

  249. different phases of their, their, their brain development

  250. and they follow you. How do you do it?

  251. First of all, you can't just ask me that question.

  252. And then 3 minutes ago you just unloaded what you just unloaded.

  253. That was a lot, right? That was a lot because there was

  254. a lot of deductions that now I have some, some bombs going off

  255. in my head because I was that little 8 year old saying why

  256. mommy, why? And so I'm, I'm 43 now and I'm

  257. still saying, why Anybody like me still saying, why?

  258. Like, why do we have this? Why did, why did you do that?

  259. I know many of you guys are saying, why do we have this

  260. president And all God's people said, all right, I know, I know

  261. people just asking God why and it's OK, Everybody says, OK, but

  262. but Pastor, if I may back up, just rewind a little bit.

  263. You said something that I'm dealing with because there's a

  264. scripture that says hope deferred or a dream deferred

  265. makes the heart sick. Hope deferred.

  266. So when I see hope or a dream, anybody have a dream in the

  267. room? Raise your hand.

  268. You know, we're, we're, you know, young and old and so it

  269. hasn't happened yet. Raise your hand.

  270. So that's like a question mark. So what you just said is

  271. interesting. I've never heard it lifted that

  272. way. When we leave students with the

  273. question mark rocking, walking around with the question mark,

  274. we provoke them to anger. And immediately the scripture

  275. came to mind. Is hope deferred makes the heart

  276. sick or perhaps what you just lifted.

  277. So we need to answer the question somebody say answer

  278. the. Questions.

  279. Answer the questions. The hard question, everybody say

  280. answer the questions. Answer the questions.

  281. And perhaps you get rid of the anger.

  282. OK, perhaps. How do I get kids to?

  283. So I'm still dealing with that. I may talk about that for the

  284. rest of the week. Just notice when you just just

  285. know when you leave a kid, when a kid leaves your presence with

  286. a question mark, perhaps they are going to be angry because

  287. perhaps they may not trust me or trust you because you supposed

  288. to be an adult and you don't have answers.

  289. I'm 6 and you 60. You ain't got a better answer

  290. than that. So they're probably going to

  291. pick up their device and find an answer that's different than

  292. what you would like for them to have in their thinking or in

  293. their mind, in their spirit, in their heart or in their levolve,

  294. not the physical heart, levolve, metaphysical heart.

  295. So just one more time, I just want to lift this up.

  296. Everybody say get answered, get answered.

  297. I mean, I mean, the Bible even encourage us as Christians.

  298. All the Christians in the house make some noise.

  299. All right, yes. So I got my fan too because I'm

  300. I ate good this week. So I get hot when I eat good.

  301. So I know we're fanning. So I just wanted to wake us up.

  302. The Bible even encourages Christians, even if you don't

  303. know all of the details, it says to be ready to give an answer

  304. for the hope that's in you. That's right, a defense and

  305. answer so y'all get answers. What was the question again?

  306. How have you, How have you garnered and gathered all these

  307. youth that follow you as they're going through these

  308. developmental stages? First of all, I do feel like I'm

  309. I'm corny and I may look hip. I don't know if I, if you think

  310. I look hip, I don't listen to hip hop, you know, I don't.

  311. I mean, I grill out, I play golf.

  312. But I think the biggest thing is to be organic.

  313. Organic students can spot a fake, you can fake it on your

  314. face, but they, they, they know that behind that, whatever

  315. you're giving off, it's something deeper that's not

  316. real, Amen. They know when it's an you're

  317. only there for a photo op Amen. And so just be organic.

  318. I mean that if there's more, but one, be consistent.

  319. If I say consistent or consistently organic because the

  320. Bible says Jesus is the same when yesterday, today and what

  321. that sounds like consistency to me and because he's consistent.

  322. Guess what we are what attracted to to him.

  323. Jesus is attractive. God is attractive because he's

  324. what he don't flip on on you like your friends.

  325. Amen. He's not finicky Amen and so if

  326. you are consistent, it's attractive.

  327. Pastor is consistent. OK, I think I'm going to

  328. continue to go to the church he leads.

  329. Mr. Alphaeus is always bringing food at rehearsals, like always.

  330. If it's two kids or if it's fifty kids, he's always bringing

  331. food. That's what that's being

  332. consistent. Amen.

  333. Wow. Amen.

  334. Amen. So you said be organic,

  335. consistent, just put it together and be consistently organic.

  336. Consistently organic. That consistently organic

  337. methodology has allowed you to I guess I get in trouble.

  338. It's, it's my church anyways that the Lord's given me.

  339. It's it's allowed you to have more youth than most churches

  340. right now. How many, how many youth in pure

  341. in heart, Pure in heart ensemble, USC Upstate Give us,

  342. give us the stats, give us the stats.

  343. I, I would say so if you, if you're not aware, my wife and I,

  344. my wife is here, right here to my right, almost 20 years, clap

  345. your hands for it right here in the yellow.

  346. And so we've been blessed to start a community youth choir.

  347. I am not a pastor, Amen. And we don't have a, our

  348. organization, we don't have a physical building, we don't

  349. have, we don't have tithes coming in every week, Amen.

  350. We have whoever wants to volunteer and help us out.

  351. We're at the mercy of, of, of and it's a good place to be with

  352. the mercy of God's favor and, and, and how he provides for our

  353. vision, Amen. So it is, it is, it's, even

  354. though it's a community organization, a community choir,

  355. it is definitely harder in my opinion, because a church, we

  356. have a, a building, Amen. We have a nice building, we have

  357. TV's everywhere, Amen. In this church, I'm sitting

  358. behind, in front of four TV's. We have a location, we have

  359. givers, we have bodies, Amen. And So what we've been favored

  360. to do is nothing but a miracle, I'm telling you.

  361. But at our our greatest, we had 402 students in one place at one

  362. time. A part of our situation, 402.

  363. Imagine 402 people in your house or in this church right now.

  364. We're putting out chairs, Amen, Amen.

  365. So you that is definitely glamorous, but that's also

  366. liability, Amen. That's also management, Amen.

  367. That's, I mean, and so it is a choir, but what we started is

  368. more than a choir. And we've, we've transitioned

  369. to, to more than just getting students together to sing.

  370. And even in the in the past couple of years, we started a

  371. foundation where we want to do where we've already started to

  372. do cohorts. So we've left the 402 now for 12

  373. because remember what know what Jesus did with the 12 disciples

  374. changed the whole world. Well, how many?

  375. Not 402. How many 12?

  376. Look at somebody say quality. Quality over quantity.

  377. My 11th year USC Upstate, who is now a stellar award nominated

  378. choir. Yep.

  379. And so I'm working with your students and I'm working with

  380. with with freshman in college. So I have to code switch.

  381. So I am definitely consistently or and I'm organic, but I do

  382. meet them where they are. I do something write this down

  383. called OTL. Everybody say OTL, which means I

  384. get on their level. Amen.

  385. I'm 43, how am I able to get do OTL with the six year old I have

  386. to get on their level. Amen.

  387. On their level. Say it.

  388. You know, I'm a musician. Say it on their level, on their

  389. level. And what you lifted is

  390. phenomenal because the prefront frontal cortex is still

  391. developing and and so I'll yield to you.

  392. So when you say on the level, I think you're directly in the

  393. text. And then Ephesians 6 and four

  394. says, Fathers, provoke not your children's of wrath, but bring

  395. them up in the nurture on their level, on their level and

  396. ammunition of the Lord. So you say you get on their

  397. level. What else do you do?

  398. Because these knees get tired. Yep.

  399. It's back. I'm going to give out sometimes

  400. food costs a whole lot of money. That's what Adult ISM says.

  401. Prays a lot. Adults say how?

  402. How do we continue to mold and make that that child, that team,

  403. that young adult, what? Was the question.

  404. Now I'm just kidding and buy you some time.

  405. I mean, obviously you, you, I have my giftings.

  406. I have my genius. I'm I'm, I'm ADD.

  407. I'm anointed, dangerous and discipline.

  408. Get the T-shirt. I got them in the car.

  409. ADDT shirts. Anybody else anointed, dangerous

  410. and discipline. I'm ADD.

  411. Amen. And so, you know, I have my

  412. genius. And so Jethro told Moses to

  413. delegate. If I said delegate, delegate,

  414. you cannot I can't do it all. My wife and I, we can't do it

  415. all. Amen.

  416. And so we delegate, we outsource, we partner and we get

  417. help because the Bible says 1 can do what chase 1000 Come on,

  418. I know y'all, y'all you guys know the Bible here one can do

  419. what chase 1001 can sit loud one the Bible says 1 can chase 1000.

  420. Now you doing something to me, if you, if you, if you're

  421. managing or you're impacting 1000 people, you're doing

  422. something to me. I think that's worth the

  423. handclap. Amen.

  424. I mean, I mean, we can't ignore that, but it said two can do

  425. what the Bible actually says 1 chases, 2 puts.

  426. It's a difference between chasing and putting.

  427. It seems like with more people you're more in control chasing

  428. seems like you're not in control If I'm chasing you ever chase a

  429. little kid around the around the around the room who's in

  430. control? You think you ain't you pay the

  431. bills, but you chasing 2 year old, you ain't in control.

  432. But you ever see a daddy say and then he go over there didn't say

  433. nothing. He just pointed that's you ain't

  434. control. That's pudding.

  435. One can chase, you're not in control.

  436. But two, you're more in control. I get help, pastor.

  437. We get help. You got to get help.

  438. That's so good. And I say that because the

  439. culture we live in makes us think that we have to do it by

  440. ourselves, right? So I'm the single parent where

  441. the single family is just our church, right?

  442. Since she ended plummeted plug. So he's an author.

  443. Is this the second book or the first one?

  444. 2nd? That's the second book.

  445. The latest? The newest, the newest.

  446. One the new car smellish. No, no youth, no church

  447. solutions, right. And and the first book when we

  448. had a meeting and you tell me, have you read the book and you

  449. give all these things to do go and find out this person, that

  450. person, this business, this organization, 30 mile radius all

  451. around you. Do they know you?

  452. Do they you know they know you, you know them.

  453. But then you start talking about building out the team and give

  454. all these solutions that are good for a church to build a

  455. youth group, but also for really a parent or a church in itself

  456. to just build the youth that you need partnership.

  457. But in the partnership, everyone has a specific job in the

  458. partnership that I first of all, thank you.

  459. I needed some help that I can't just bring you on the team

  460. without giving you an assignment.

  461. Talk, talk more about that. Talk more about that.

  462. I mean, statistics, studies say, I mean, a kid does better with a

  463. mom and a dad. Amen.

  464. Amen. Yeah, it does does better, not

  465. impossible, no condemnation. Life happens.

  466. People are still even adults are still under construction.

  467. Amen. But you, you, you know, even but

  468. but then disclaimer, you can have mommy and daddy and you can

  469. still have a student or a kid. That's you know, you know what

  470. I'm trying to say. Hey, man, but but definitely so

  471. that speaks to roles. That speaks to genius, your

  472. genius. It speaks to putting people in

  473. the right place to get it done. Amen.

  474. And knowing the Bible says, know those who what labor, labor

  475. among you? Look at somebody say, do you

  476. know me? Do you know me?

  477. This church is a wonderful church in a great location, one

  478. of the most coveted zip codes in up in the upstate.

  479. You guys are listen, you guys are going somewhere.

  480. I thought somebody was going to clap.

  481. You guys are already somewhere. You guys are going to do

  482. something great. Come on, y'all should clap for

  483. you. I am I'm giving you all props.

  484. Y'all, y'all got it going on. You're doing better than you

  485. think you are. I said you doing better than you

  486. What I said you doing better than you what the right seat.

  487. We have our genius. You have your genius and it's

  488. putting all of that together. I want to say so much, but

  489. there's something called TYM. Let me lift this real quick.

  490. It's Tandem youth ministry. Everybody say TYM, Tandem youth

  491. ministry, Tandem youth ministry. You guys have the location, you

  492. have the location. Another church down the street,

  493. they have the money, they have the bag.

  494. Another church down the street, they have the students, but they

  495. don't have the location and they don't have the bag.

  496. Imagine if we all come together to reach the next generation.

  497. What a time. I'm a musician.

  498. Don't make me get on that organ. What a time, what a time, what a

  499. time, TYM, Who cares who gets the credit?

  500. Everybody said who cares who gets the credit?

  501. There's students that are struggling.

  502. They are in a burning building and it is on fire, I'm telling

  503. you, and it's about to come down.

  504. We got to get them out of the burning building before it comes

  505. down. We don't want to read the

  506. newspaper no more. Anymore with suicide, fight,

  507. shooting, Amen. We can stop this.

  508. We can intercept this. That's right, Drop the ego and

  509. save a life. Get the song, Drop the ego and

  510. save the save a life. Amen, Amen, Amen.

  511. That's why we don't partner pastor, because we want all the

  512. credit. We don't want nobody else to

  513. join us because we want all the credit, Amen, But not this

  514. church, Amen. We're going to lead the way,

  515. Amen. We're leading the way, leading

  516. the way. So so he he didn't ask me to say

  517. this. So you guys trust what your

  518. pastor is doing with these partnerships in these

  519. out-of-the-box things to reach the community, Amen, Amen.

  520. We can, we can, we can, we can have trends.

  521. Say this with me everybody say trends that don't that.

  522. Don't. Bend, a lot of trends are going

  523. to come from this man, man of God.

  524. But you can trendy and not bendy, not bendy because it's

  525. all about the word Amen. But trends for sure.

  526. Trends that don't bend right. And I appreciate all that you

  527. say. How many stellar awards you

  528. have? 2.

  529. Hold on. Put it to me.

  530. Put put, put. We, we, we have two.

  531. Yes, we have two. Amen.

  532. We have two stellar awards, Stellar awards.

  533. I I used to do radio. I did radio for a number of

  534. years. I don't know if you remember

  535. those, those things back in bed, Gospel bat radio.

  536. Sean, man, you all all of that. Yeah, that's right.

  537. Yeah, something Spartanburg. Street and now we're doing

  538. podcast. Now we don't.

  539. Podcast this is this is next level.

  540. Stellar wards I know small accomplishments of course

  541. immediately you said we and that we is inclusive course of your

  542. life. Honest to God, truth is is real.

  543. I should have her up here as well.

  544. I don't know because it's Father's Day.

  545. I just asked you to come up here because you move as one.

  546. Mother's Day was last month is our time.

  547. They travel together like the the, the vlog, all of it's

  548. beautiful. Love it.

  549. We and then also our team, you know, I could, I could, I could

  550. name the Miss Rita's, I could name the Miss Kathy's, the Josh,

  551. the, the incredible musicians because normally kids choirs

  552. don't have the best music. But we, we, we got a, we got a

  553. nice band at times in production.

  554. And so, so when I say we, it is, it's a lot of us.

  555. It's a lot of us. I said that because I wanted you

  556. to really dig into that. The accomplishment that we're

  557. trying to chase for building our children has a lot of people

  558. that standing behind, pushing, putting together.

  559. And when you start looking at the list of who's in the life of

  560. your child, who's in the life of your youth ministry, I think it

  561. requires some mind mapping, mind mappings take idea and you start

  562. just breaking it all the way down.

  563. This is connected to this, this is connected to this and it

  564. yields this. It's going to produce this that

  565. if if I want my child to be you ready more than that NFL star,

  566. more than an NBA player, which they already have slow chance,

  567. slow, slow odds of being. But I but I want them to be that

  568. narrow side scientist, the music producer that I've got to map

  569. out the team. That's what you're saying and

  570. mapping out the team means being involved in my church because

  571. being involved in my church means that community.

  572. Then it's filled with other key components and players so that

  573. my my child isn't just always provoked to wrath, but they're

  574. brought up in the admonition of the Lord, the Lord's plan.

  575. I'd use some other words to talk about the the Spirit of the

  576. Lord, but now what's about the plan of the Lord?

  577. Because that mind's got to eventually have the mind of

  578. Christ. This is my last deep and

  579. revelatory point, and I'm going to let you have all the good

  580. stuff for real. Is that the mind of Christ is so

  581. complex. Everything you see came out the

  582. mind of God. I want you to look around real

  583. quick. Everything you see is a thought,

  584. even yourself is a thought. Amen.

  585. That that is avowed in and of itself to me.

  586. It's a thought that God that gives to me and you to help

  587. unlock each other so that we can expand the thought of God.

  588. They're not going to go there so that we can create, be an

  589. accomplished seller. Awards, Grammys, countless

  590. awards as I close for real what? What do I do when I feel like I

  591. don't know where to start? As the parent, as the church?

  592. How do I get started? Because I've got I got this

  593. child in development or from this church.

  594. I have no youth. Where's my starting point?

  595. Again, 20 seconds ago he just dropped the bomb.

  596. Did y'all just hear that? He said we are here because of a

  597. thought. Amen.

  598. Everybody look around real quick.

  599. I don't want to get in trouble. I want to answer that question

  600. but I have books. I have books for those questions

  601. and so everybody goes home today with a book.

  602. Of course it cost, but you just said, I mean, you just looked at

  603. something about that that is very important.

  604. Did you guys know that this month is men's health month?

  605. It's it's mental health month. Amen.

  606. Everybody say mental health, mental health and, and again, I

  607. know we're doing this a lot today, but look at somebody.

  608. I think this is a secret to really, really changing the

  609. world. We got to pay attention to each

  610. other. And so perhaps if we if, if it's

  611. just not routine and just we're just doing it out of tradition.

  612. When you look at somebody in church, really look at them.

  613. Hey, man, mental health, because mental health is you can't touch

  614. it. I mean, you see what I'm

  615. wearing. I hope I did OK for you guys.

  616. Am I did All right? You know, you can, you can.

  617. How did I do, fellas? How did I do?

  618. Young men? Did I I'm OK.

  619. I usually wear a hat. You can see that you can feel

  620. this, But mental health is metaphysical.

  621. Amen. And so look at somebody say, are

  622. you OK? You know, I mean, if it's a fake

  623. smile, say we need to talk after service.

  624. We're going to, we're going to, we're going to, we're going to a

  625. restaurant, we're going to talk. We're going to figure out what's

  626. going on in your head and you and you're lifting thoughts and

  627. you're lifting how God uses words, which are metaphysical

  628. and words have power, which you just lifted.

  629. And so just take a, just take just 20 seconds in and speak

  630. something in the atmosphere and change the atmosphere, change

  631. your spirit. Go to somebody and say

  632. something. If you want to say something,

  633. you don't even have to give them a $20 bill.

  634. You could give them something that they can't feel, but they

  635. can feel. Come on, do it right now.

  636. Change your atmosphere, change your spirit.

  637. Change this church. Change the trajectory of this

  638. church in the next 20 seconds. Come on, lift up something in

  639. the atmosphere with words. I will be successful.

  640. I am going to live my best life the rest of my days.

  641. I am going to make it. I am going to pay my bills.

  642. I am going to graduate. I am not crazy.

  643. I am going to have peace. Come on, say it. close mouth.

  644. Don't get fed. Say it.

  645. Say something. If you don't know what to say,

  646. turn it into a praise. Give God praise, worship words.

  647. I'm here for you. Yes, I'm here for you.

  648. Come on, lift it up. Look at a family member and say,

  649. I got your back. And you just may.

  650. Look at the smile that comes on their face.

  651. Look at somebody say I got your back, I got your back.

  652. Look how this room is changing. Hope deferred makes the heart

  653. sick. But words, prayer words is

  654. metaphysical. It can really, really change a

  655. thought. I mean, you're saying thought.

  656. That's why Jesus wants us to think you started this.

  657. There's a scripture that's that Jesus said, and I'll end with

  658. this because it's Father's Day. Jesus said in Matthew, knowing

  659. their thoughts, He said why? If I say why?

  660. Jesus said knowing their thoughts, He was he was talking

  661. about a group of people. He knew their thoughts.

  662. Everybody say God knows everybody say God.

  663. I think it's in Matthew 94, Matthew Chapter 9 verse 4.

    Matthew 9:4

  664. Knowing their thoughts, He said, why?

  665. Everybody say why when Jesus asked a question, is he asking

  666. that question for us or for him? Well, Mama, say who?

  667. Who made this mess? And it's only you and Mama who

  668. is she asking that question for? Jesus said, why do you entertain

  669. evil thoughts in your in your heart?

  670. Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your heart?

  671. There's like a head thinking and there's a heart thinking.

  672. If you think about something negative too much, it eventually

  673. settle in your heart. So what I really wanted to end

  674. with is Jesus wants us to think about our thinking.

  675. Speaking of prefrontal cortex, Matthew 9/4 is medic.

  676. Write this down. Metacognition.

  677. Metacognition is basically thinking about your thinking.

  678. Very simple, not deep. It's putting your own thoughts

  679. under a surveillance camera and playing it back like you got the

  680. Ring camera. You say, oh, what you're doing

  681. at my house. You ever had to do that, talk to

  682. someone on your Ring camera. But you, you looked at, you

  683. looked at what was on the what think about your thinking.

  684. Play it back. Why do you entertain evil

  685. thoughts in your heart? Let's think more, Amen.

  686. The mind of Christ, the mind of think, think, think, think,

  687. think. So if you want to know how to

  688. transform your youth ministry, get get the book Call Me and go

  689. to the website, our YouTube channel.

  690. But in this church, your pastor, he has a vision, Amen.

  691. Amen. Without a vision, my people do

  692. it. Parish or cast off restraints is

  693. 1 translation. Parish or cast off restraints.

  694. Man, I'm I'm enjoying this time with you.

  695. I've enjoyed this time with you. I don't know if that's my

  696. clothes or I'm yielding to you, but.

  697. Thank you. And it actually went exactly

  698. where I I was hoping to go last year.

  699. I was on a on a men's panel, but a lot of great leaders from our

  700. our region and I'm in the closing words was Pastor Dogan

  701. pastor shot the great Pastor Sean Duncan of the Long Branch

  702. Baptist Church and he says pass along.

  703. He says says our boys and our men need to think more.

  704. And that has been sitting with me for the past year that we

  705. are, we've got to continue to develop our brains and get out

  706. of that that teenage mind as adults, as adults and to think,

  707. think it all the way through. So as I close, please don't call

  708. your child a king. And they're not a king.

  709. Don't, don't give them a label before they've earned it.

  710. Don't give them a title. Titles come with responsibility.

  711. And when you call them the man of the house and there's still a

  712. boy, not gonna be the girl, she's the Princess, not the

  713. queen. Because there's there's

  714. responsibility with being a queen.

  715. I don't know if you've ever played chess, but the most

  716. powerful piece on on the chess board is not the king, it's the

  717. queen. The most coveted piece on the

  718. chess board is the king. It's a difference.

  719. Everybody wants to be coveted as the king, but they don't

  720. understand the responsibility of the queen.

  721. So before they become all those things, allow them to go through

  722. the process. We're going to make mistakes as

  723. adults, as pastors, as leaders, as community leaders.

  724. We're going to make mistakes, but we got to own them quickly.

  725. We can't. We can't just kind of like put

  726. underneath the rug. We got to be honest with our

  727. kids. I messed up.

  728. My consequence was wrong. The way I attacked it was wrong.

  729. That's the only way we're going to, and I don't want to use that

  730. word save, but help develop our next generation because youth

  731. voice is important. I'm going to leave with that.

  732. Your child's voice is important. It's our responsibility as a

  733. collective to help shape the volume, the tenor, the tone of

  734. the voice. But the voice is important

  735. because God has charged us to shoot them as arrows.

  736. There are arrows again, thank you so much.

  737. I, I, I can't say this enough how much I Revere the innocence

  738. altogether that our, our city does not.

  739. I'm sorry our region does not send and give you guys enough

  740. honor because of the pioneering work that you do, literally that

  741. you guys forge pathways, countless churches.

  742. You guys are working with countless churches that that you

  743. took from from zero and five to 25 to 50 youth and that's 50

  744. youth becomes a strong church, eventually becomes a strong

  745. community. It makes our world better, and I

  746. am indebted greatly to your family for the gift that you are

  747. not just to me as an individual, to our church.

  748. You've been in our church so many times.

  749. Nobody knew you were here. Thank you.

  750. Thank you one more time. Can you guys put your hands

  751. together? Thank you for tuning in to the
