Acts chapter 27, Let's start at verse #31.

Acts 27 · chapter mention

And Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except

these abide in the ship, you cannot be saved.

Verse 32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and

let her fall off. 33 And while the day was coming on, Paul the

apostle besought them all to take me, saying, This day is the

14th day that you have tarried and continued fasting, having

taken nothing. Wherefore I pray you to take

some meat, for this is for your health, for there shall not a

hair fall from the head of any of you. 35 And when he had thus

spoken, he took bread and gave thanks to God in presence of

them all. And when he hadn't broken it, he

began to eat. 36 Then were they all of good cheer?

Help me out, somebody say Good cheer, good cheer, good cheer.

And they also took some meat. 37 And we were all in the ship. 203

score and 16 souls. And when they had eaten enough,

they lightened the ship, and cast off the wheat into the sea.

And when it was day, they knew not the land, but they

discovered a certain Creek with a shore into the which they were

minded, if it were possible to thrust in the ship.

Verse 40. Here's where I really want to

be. And then they had taken up the

anchors. They committed themselves unto

the sea, and loosen the rooter bands, and hoist up the main

sail to the wind, and made towards shore. 41 And falling

into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground, and

the four parts stuck fast and remained unmovable.

But the hinder part, the hanged part, was broken with the

violence of the waves. 42 And the soldiers Council was to kill

the prisoners. Any of them should swim out and

escape. 43 But this interior, and willing to say Paul, kept

them from their purpose, and commanded that they that which

could swim should cast themselves first into the sea

and get to the land. 44 and the rest, the rest, the rest, some

on boards and some unbroken pieces of the ship.

And so it came to pass that they escaped all safe to land the

word of God for the people of God.

Thanks be unto God. I just want to jump in for a few

moments into the ship and I'm going to preach from the

thought. Somehow I made it.

OK, I don't like your response. Help me.

I'll turn to a neighbor. Say neighbor, somehow I made it.

Somehow I made it. My dear brothers and sisters,

life has a way of taking you into storms.

Storms you didn't schedule Sister Shirley matter of fact,

mother Gordine seasons you didn't see coming and battles

you didn't even volunteer for. But somehow, somehow, somehow,

Sister Shay, somehow by the grace of God, you, me, I, us, we

uses, we're still here. Not because life was easy, not

because the journey was smooth as the penny, not because the

ship held everything together, but simply this.

The testimony is like this. I made it because everything

worked out. I made it because God carried me

through what fell upon my dear brothers and sisters.

That's where we find ourselves in between the black and white

pages of the book before you and a moment of time and a season in

the sailboat that seemed to be falling apart.

Let's read it together. Acts chapter 27 verse #41 You

I feel like rolling just a little bit.

It says I'm falling into a place where two seas met.

They ran the ship aground. Let me stop right there.

The text teaches us 3 movements to which I think we all should

look at a three lessons, should I say.

Such a shame. The very first lesson for your

notes, Mother Spurgeon. Good to see you today.

Is it broke? But that's where God began.

I said to Shelly, he didn't like my first point.

I'm I'm going to say it again. I'm going to say it again for

the person online. I said it broke.

But that's where God began. Look, look, look, look, look,

look at the text. Look at the text.

Acts chapter 27, verse 41 a look simple until you sit with it.

Acts 27:41

It looks simple until you pray through it.

It even looks simple until you wrestle with it.

And then suddenly the verse opens up with so much meeting

shape because the ship didn't break in calm water, it broke

where 2 seeds met. That's not just geography,

that's really the study of God or theology in motion because

this is the place of collision, where currents clash and crash,

where life pulls in two directions at once.

The text says Acts chapter 27, verse 41 and falling into a

place, a place, a place where two seas met 2 seas met Monday.

Brothers and sisters, I want to let you know that breaking does

not happen anywhere. Breaking happens where God

allows. OK, I'm going to make sure you

still in the room with me. I said breaking does not happen

anywhere, but breaking happens where God allows.

There is a place, yeah, where purpose meets pressure,

recalling meets meets cost and where faith meets fatigue.

And that that there's even a place where forward progress

meets resistance. Come here.

You had, like you never had any resistance before.

But I want to let you know that this isn't random breaking, but

look at the text. It's really orchestrated

breaking, some breaking. Some breaking would have killed

them in the deep, but God let it happen near the shore.

My dear brothers and sisters, please understand that the

breaking is discomforting, but breaking position them.

And for some of us, as we have sat through here and you've

thought about whether or not to give your testimony for 2025,

the truth of the matter is you was going through in your mind

about some of the breakings, some of the breakings that that

actually felt discomforting but positioned you differently.

And I'm going to let you know that God allowed this ship to

break in a place where survival was still possible.

I said God allowed the ship to break in a place where survival

was still possible. And God does not always allow,

He does not always save the ship.

Sometimes He allows what carries us to break so he can mature.

But He is forming in US. I think I better work through

here. The breaking point is not the

end. It is often the birth place of

becoming. Help me out.

Turn to your neighbor and say neighbor.

I don't like the voice. Say neighbor, you're becoming.

You are becoming. And, and I know you see wrinkles

on your face right now, but you're becoming.

And I know you still don't see commas in your bank account, but

you're becoming. And I know you still got some

sleepless nights, but you're becoming.

I know you still got the same clothes from 1945, but you're

becoming I want to let you know that you're becoming you're

becoming you're becoming you're becoming and the text says here

and that's chapter 27, verse 41 and verse 40.

I'm sorry verse 41 that they ran the ship aground.

They ran the ship aground. That's forward motion.

Check this out Mother Thornerson.

It stopped that that's that's momentum frozen and what's once

carried the could not carry them anymore.

The text says the ship ran the ground.

Let me drop some revelation on you real quick.

When you said in this text you realized that God didn't fail

them, He redirected them. This was an abandonment.

This was divine interruption because sometimes God will let

the vessel break so that the people he is forming will not.

Hallelujah. OK, you don't like my little

point. It's all right that it's not

human shrimp. This is really God's sovereignty

because to run aground means to be lodged into resistance.

It means to be forced into steelness.

It means to be pressed into a stop by out side force.

My dear brothers and sisters, if you want to be honest to

yourself, it's all cool. I'll be honest out loud. 2025

felt like I had ran the ground, felt like I had found myself

harbored in resistance and and forced into a steel place.

And stop not by my. Own desire, but by outside

force. And it's because of that, my new

brothers and sisters, I think it is.

It is only fair to share with you that it wasn't an accidental

pause. The text really teaches us that

it was divinely, divinely, divinely the ship arrested in

motion. Let me pour this in your teeth

so you can sip on this while you think about this message.

Sometimes God doesn't ask you to slow down, He makes the ship

stop so your soul can breathe. OK, OK, OK, you, you might, you

might have been like one of the persons on the ship and found

yourself and thinking the ground stopped you, but God really was

protecting you from going further on momentum without

maturity. OK, if I can take a short TV

commercial break, I need to call your attention.

Because some of us were moving fast but not healing deeply,

accomplishing publicly, unraveling privately, successful

outwardly yet slipping silently. But yet God is saying to you and

me today, I love you too much to let you keep keep succeeding by

silently suffering. So he let the ship, he let the

vessel run aground so that your soul could come up for air.

And if I could be vulnerable and honest, my generation learned to

survive. John on emotional autopilot,

Greg on on silent strain. Sister Chris even on unspoken

burnout. Sister Jackie on smiling while

slipping. Because we were taught to just

push through it. OK.

Thank you, Sir. Ain't got no help.

No help. I've been no help out there.

I mean, we we we will talk. We will talk.

We will talk to just handle it. We will talk.

Don't show your weakness. But my dear brothers and

sisters, listen to me real quick.

Strength without healing isn't strength.

It's survival on delay. I think that's so good.

I better say it for my own self. I said strength without healing

isn't strength, it's survival on the lane.

And sometimes God let something break you, not to expose you,

but to heal you. Sometimes God let's break into

occur not to shame you, but to reshape you.

Sometimes God allows the break and not to end your calling, but

to stabilize your becoming. And my dear brothers and

sisters, because of that it pays to keep your Bible open because

the text never says they broke. The text says the ship broke.

I think your neighbor's trying to go to sleep on me as I try to

get out of this message. Help me out.

Turn to neighbor. Say neighbor, the ship broke.

The ship broke. The text never says they broke.

Only the ship broke. No, it's not New Year's Eve, but

it is purpose. Even.

I need you to realize God don't lie.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I said God don't lie.

Matter of fact, I know you try to talk in the text, but I need

your voice a little bit. God will let external systems

fail to protect the internal work he is forming in you.

Come here, come here. Jobs may collapse, plans may

shift. Yeah, resources may even dry up.

Relationships may end, but the people of God will remain the

ship. The ship was never the source.

God was. I need to remind you.

I need to remind you that breaking removes certainty and

breaking removes predictability and even breaking removes

something some of us struggle with call control.

Breaking does teach us that we were never in control.

Come here, that we were really carried by grace.

I got to get out this first point, but do know that breaking

is not cruelty. Breaking is sanctification.

Come here hymn rider, I feel like I need that old red Baptist

hymnal for a second hold to be kept by Jesus.

Lord at thy feet. I thought I would be Nothing,

nothing, nothing thou shall be. All in all, help me out.

Peek into the text one more time because I feel like the sky is

opening up. Peek into the text with your

imagination. Can't catch you here the way

roaring can't catch you here, Mother Gordine, the wood

cracking, Who said to share the splinters of the wood flying?

But God does not shout, Brother Roseman.

There's no Thunder. No, there's no announcement.

No, there's no intervention. No, only the Providence of God

at work. Come here.

I know you said Providence. Big word.

Help me out. Providence means the provincial.

I'm sorry. The protective care of God.

Yeah, let me say it this way. Only the protective care of God

at work. I guess I better give you

something else for your notes if you're online.

In person. Sometimes God speaks through

outcomes more than through explanations, preach Matthew D

Long, Junior. I said sometimes God.

He speaks to outcomes more than explanations.

He doesn't always explain the break.

He reveals himself inside, minding brothers and sisters.

The truth of the matter is, if the ship stayed intact, they

would have clung to what was familiar, but breaking forced

them to release. Breaking into their idols.

Breaking. Close the season that they would

have never closed all by themselves.

Come here, come here. I'm not done yet, my dear

brothers and sisters. That's why God will break what

you were never meant to build your identity on.

And some of us are struggling, struggling even though it's a

new year because we have built our identity on ships,

friendships, relationships. We build our identity.

On all of these types of ships, the ship was a resource, not a

refuge. God breaks false refuges.

So we discover the God who truly carries us.

That's why. And that's why you must be

careful what you label certain seasons of your life.

I'm not a fact be all that time. Be careful, but we call a

setback. Let me add a little bit more to

it. Stop calling it a set back when

God really was protecting you. The truth of the matter is you

weren't stuck. You were being kept from

becoming great Too fast and rise too slow.

OK, You don't like it? I found some help in the Bible.

Come here, Joseph. Joseph had a dream, but God

blocked the throne. Come here, David.

David was anointed, but God sent him to a cave.

Moses, I think we need your help.

In the room. Moses was called, but God hid

him. Him, the wilderness, because

unformed character is a dangerous success.

And sometimes God isn't delaying you, He is saving your future

from the version of you that wasn't ready yet.

I've been here too long. I've been here too long.

But the break is where God begins.

It's when God begins. A matter of fact breaking has

always been a part of God's redemptive process.

Can I add a little bit more before I take it away?

I could get in but tell you that he broke his jars and light came

out. The woman would tell you that

she broke the alabaster box and worship filled the room.

The disciples would tell you that the bread was broken on the

heel and the multitude was fed in a desert.

Jesus was he will holler in front of your face that he was

broken and the world was saved in the hands of God.

Breaking never destroys value, it transforms purpose.

Monday, brothers and sisters, I want to let you know that I

experienced this one time in college.

I was serving as a music minister about 40 minutes away

from my college storm. Worship was rebuilding,

musicians were coming back of the singers were singing.

We were having momentum in the music ministry department.

And then, right in the middle of obedience, being a college

student, guess what, Sister Ella, My car died.

Now, now, now, now, now. If if you don't, if you've never

been a college student, you've been, you've never been able to

understand this. But but to a college student,

your car is everything. You know when you've been,

you've been confounded to a college campus.

And then you finally have a mode of of a vehicle, a device to get

you off, get you out. My car died.

My car dies, mayor and I didn't have a backup.

I didn't I didn't I didn't have any convenience.

I didn't have any options. But but but I did pray Lord,

Lord, why, why? Why let it break now?

It didn't break before I got here.

Why? Why let it break now?

But it was later I learned that God wasn't weakening me while I

was in college, but God was deepening my dependence on Him.

He wasn't attacking my calling even though I was trying to work

in the church. He was maturing my calling.

And I got to let you know that the ship broke.

But God began, He began something in me.

He began something to me that the breaking could not stop.

And that's why the very first movement of this text is

important. This first lesson is important

to realize that it broke, but that's really where God begins.

I better move on. I didn't got much time left on

the clock. Acts chapter 27 verse 41

Acts 27:41

continues reading as such and says and falling into a place

where two seas met. They ran the ship aground.

Look now and the four part stuck fans and remained unmovable, but

the Honda part was broken with the violence of the waves.

My name, brothers and sisters, the very second lesson of this

text or movement for your notes is it failed, but that's where

God finished what he started. But I'm saying that's good right

there. I said it failed, but that's

where God finished what he started.

Other than the front. The front of the ship stuck.

Fast forward, momentum seized and the pack of the ship broke

apart. That the structure failed.

The system collapsed. What once worked now no longer

worked anymore. But the text never says the

people failed. Look at the text it only says

the ship did digging house. And this is not coincidence

because sometimes God allows a thing to fail so he's working

you can't succeed. Y'all don't like my preach?

It's OK, I'm a preach to me. I said sometimes God allows a

thing to fail, so he's working. You can't succeed.

I need you to catch this revelation.

Failure wasn't the end, it was God finishing a season.

Some things don't fall apart because they were wrong.

They fall apart because God finished his purpose than them.

I, I, I, I think I need to share that with you one more time

because 2025 was hard for some of us.

We lost some people, we lost some places, we lost some

things, we lost some access. But I want you to know that some

things don't fall apart because they were wrong.

They fall apart because God finished his purpose in them.

I think I need to slide this one more time into your little

teacup because we will be stuck in grief.

I'm a God trying to move us to a new glory because we keep crying

about the ship that's broken when God's saying, look, I'm

keeping your life. There are moments when God says

the assignment is complete. The vehicle is no longer

necessary. OK, you don't like me.

I get it. Mother Donaldson, I got Bible

come here Philippians chapter one verse 6 he who begun a good

work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

That means God is not committed to the structure.

God is committed to the work inside of you.

Boy, that's real good. I said God is not committed to

the structure. God is committed to the work

inside you look at the text. The ship was temporary, but the

people were eternal. The ship was temporary, but the

purpose was eternal. So God let the vessel fail

because the mission inside them had already been fulfilled.

Help me climb into the side, into the sky.

Turn to your neighbor real quick and say, neighbor, God is

committed to you. I don't think your neighbor

believed you. They didn't respond, right?

Turn back to your neighbor again.

Say, hey neighbor, God is committed to you, God is

committed to you, God is committed to you.

On the very first Sunday of 2026, I need you to know that

God is committed to good God. He's committed to you.

Who? Abraham left her right because

God was committed to him. And Joseph lost the coat, not

because the calling, but because God had finished the season.

Come here. Jonah's ship had failed because

obedience could only rise when following God.

Elijah Brooke had dried up so that faith could move forward.

And then you know what happened with Jesus is on the cross, the

veil, and the temple tour because redemption had advanced.

For God is committed. He's committed to you.

He's committed to you the same the same Paul in this text

related rights in Second Corinthians chapter 4 verse 89,

he says we are troubled on every side, yet not distressed.

I better skip a little bit, He says.

Cast down but not destroyed. My dear brothers and sisters,

please know that structures may fail, systems may collapse, but

purpose survives. I'm reminded of a story of a

friend told me. He took what looked like the

greatest opportunity of his life.

He had relocated, he sacrificed, and he built with excellence and

integrity. He restored unbroken

organization in another state. He went there to rebuild morale,

to raise leaders, and poured himself out faithfully to all he

served. And just when fruit began to

appear, the support he had shifted that.

The climate change, the tone change, the room change.

He wasn't celebrated anymore. He kept getting sidelined.

Sidelined by the boss. Sidelined by the boss's boss.

And one night, sitting alone in his car, he prayed through

tears. Lord, did I fail or did

something around me fail? He told me that the spirit had

respite. To him, no, you didn't fail.

The season fulfilled its purpose.

But I wanted to grow in you. I have now completed and he said

something to me that I don't want you to forget, he said, but

I thought was failure was actually God finishing something

in me. OK, you, you missed it, but it's

OK. Go back to YouTube and hit

rewind. I got to move on.

But but I, I, I need you to know.

I need you to know that the boat did its job.

The ship did its job, The vessel did its job.

Come here. But the boat was never your

destiny. I think I've got some witnesses

who know. You build ministries that

shifted. You stood on doorposts that

shifted. You work jobs that close.

You stayed faithful in seasons that broke beneath you.

But through every loss, every transition, every broken

structure, God kept your faith. Come here, my mom.

I hear you right now. She will jump in right there and

she will say just another day that the Lord has kept me.

She was saying He has kept me from all evil with my mind

stayed on Him. Just another day that the Lord

has kept me And, and if you can be honest, many of us can

testify today that programs ended, but the purpose kept

living in me because the truth of the matter is it didn't fail

to destroy you. It failed because God finished

his work in that place. Come here.

I know, I know we have attachment issues to ships.

And I'm trying to help you get unstuck because the chapter

closed, but the calling continued.

The ship broke, but God continued.

Something in your spirit I failure, failure, failure in the

text. Since the housing was not their

funeral, but failure really was the doorway to survival.

I'm sorry. That was good to me because the

failure of the ship became the stage for God's deliverance.

What failed around them positioned what God was about to

do through them. If the ship failed and we still

survived, then survival must be a miracle of God.

I got to get out of here. I got to get out of here.

But it's for that reason to keep on journeying into the text.

The text reads in Acts chapter 27, verse 43.

Acts 27:43

But the centurion willing to say Paul kept them from the purpose,

and commanded that they which could swim should cast

themselves first into the sea and get to land.

Verse 44, it says, And the rest, some on boards and some unbroken

pieces, but pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass that they

are escaped, escaped to the land.

My brothers and sisters, I got to get out of here.

But my last point for you today that you need to understand is

that it shattered. But that's where God saved my

life. I said it shattered, but that's

when God saved my life. The ship didn't carry them the

way they planned, but the pieces still carried them by the hand

of God. The vessel shattered, yeah, but

God did not waste the fragments. And for somebody listening

online and in person, this isn't just Paul's storm, but this is

somebody else's life story. Because some of us are not

surviving our whole plans, but we're surviving on what's love

and God is still caring us. I got to let this know.

I got to let it be known today. But the person whose dream

didn't unfold the way you imagined.

For the person who find themself in the family that didn't stay

together like you hope. For the one whose career shifted

out from under you. For the one who lost resources,

relationships, and even support. Even for the one who had to keep

going about something broke beneath you.

I got to let you know that you're still standing.

I'm sorry, I'm done. Y'all have a happy new year.

I said you're still standing. You didn't make it on the ship

of certainty, but you made it on the pieces of faith God refused

to let sink. Because God, God will never let

you, but never let you fail. Hell let up what's around.

You fail before he allows you to fail.

Because God, I said God, God is committed to you.

I got to get on out of here now. But they didn't lie to the sore.

They clung to it. They didn't even sail in

trumpet. No, they survived in trust.

And that's where many of us are living right now.

We're not gliding in 2020 26 but we're holding on and believe in

God day and night. believe in God night and day.

And that's not a weakness. No, help me, I'm up in the sky.

Let's go for real. That's faith and depression.

Here's the revelation for you. But wholeness doesn't activate

the supernatural, but surrenders and brokenness does.

I said surrenders and brokenness does.

I said surrenders and brokenness does.

I said surrenders and brokenness does.

You can act all hard as you want.

You can act all tough as you want, but if you want the Lord

and this year we're in right now, they're going to have to

have a broken and strike spirit. I've got to go now, but I'm so

glad y'all, that when they stop depending on the ship, God

carried them. He carried them on the pieces.

He carried them on the pieces. He carried them on the pieces.

I said he carried them on the pieces.

Some of us right now are only surviving on the pieces.

You thought the ship was going to carry you, but allow precious

memories or how they linger carry you on.

I gotta go. I gotta.

Go now because the text tells us that when they release what

failed, Grace declares that they escaped all safe to land your

neighbors sleep. I don't know what's wrong with

them I. Said and they escaped all.

Safe to land. It must have been the breakfast.

That's what it was. Help me out, I said, and they

escaped all Escaped heartache, escaped

headache, escaped persecution, escaped disease, escaped

disappointment and all y'all. Don't like this word?

I said all of them. Help me preach Deke I'm.

Trying to go somewhere, I said. All, all into the land.

I gotta go for real. Now, but I need you to.

Know that God may not preserve the structure, but God will

preserve your life. Let me break what you trusted.

But God. God.

Yeah. Yeah, real mind.

He won't break his promise. You may lose predictability, but

you will not lose God's presence.

You may come out different, but you will.

at the text. The truth of the matter is the

only reason we're going to make it, the only reason we're going

to survive the storm, the only reason the breaking isn't going

to bury you is because somebody else it was broken.

So you can survive your breaking.

I got to go to because the first Sunday.

But you do know on a hill far, far away stood on rugged cross

the. Emblem of.

Suffering and shame. How I love.

That old rugged cross. You know why?

Because there was not that cross at the.

Gross, Raff, When you go home today, I just

want you to walk in your house and say somehow I made it.

When you get up in the morning to fix your toe, Somehow I made

it. It wasn't what I thought it was

going to be, but somehow I made it.

I don't see it in my bank account but somehow I made it.

I don't feel the love like I want but somehow I made it. made

it. Who made it?

Sure. The matter.

Check this out. They were those on the ship who

were not believers. They they they weren't, but they

made it. They made it because Paul was on

the ship. I feel like running.

I told John I wanted to dance today because because I I need

you to know that this year that there are some people in your

family and some people in your family who are not safe.

But you know what? They're going to make it too.

Why? Because you on the ship. to make

it because you on the ship, because God knows he won't let

you fail. It's only some people who still

floating. They they, they, they think it's

all the other stuff they got going on, but they, they, they

still bouncing and what should be swallowing them up only

because she was on the ship. And I want to let you know that

no matter what you do this year, don't you lose your testimony.

Don't you lose sight. It ain't nobody giving you a

stimulus. It ain't nobody giving you no

snaps, Ain't nobody snapping you Hallelujah.

But, but, but, but it's the goodness of the law that's going

to keep you and keep us in 2026. And whatever you do, don't you

lose your praise. I'm going to tell you whatever,

don't you? I don't care if you ain't got no

lone fan whatever, don't you lose your praise.

If all you got is a foot, then you better tap that foot because

all 2026 praise is going to get you through it.

I said, oh, your praise is going to get you through it because if

you don't praise, you're going to get stuck in the ship that's

already broken. So what you you might just get

hit and praise them, because if they had not been for the Lord

on my side, I'm a stop.

I'm at my time for real. I'm at my time for real.

Whatever you do, you better give him a brace.

I don't care if you got to be in the in the house in the mirror

and you got to practice your little pitter pad.

You got practice your pitter pad at the house because I'm telling

you, it's not the stuff I hear that's going to get you.

It's going to be what you got at the house.

It's going to be what you got because the enemy ain't going to

fight you in here. He going to fight you as soon as

you hit that parking lot and you take your phone off but do not

disturb and those those text messages start rolling back

those phone calls start rolling back, but it's going to be

praised. That's going to keep that's

going to keep you. It's going to keep you.

I got to stop. You may not know Jesus in the

free partner of your sin. I want you to know him for

yourself. It's real simple.

You can stay right there because I got to get out of here.
