  1. We were studying from the Book of Psalm fifty and

  2. we read from verses one to six, and we took

  3. a post in that place. And so this morning we

  4. will continue from verses seven to fifteen, verses seven to

  5. fifteen the Book of Psalm, chapter fifty seven to fifteen.

  6. I'm going to read the Bible in three different versions

  7. this morning, and i want each one of us to

  8. just pay attention to what God has to say to us.

  9. And I'll be speaking this morning on the topic worship

  10. beyond rituals.

  11. Worship beyond rituals.

  12. Look at what the Bible says in the Book of Psalm,

  13. chapter fifty seven to fifteen. I'll be taking it from Nivy. First, listen,

  14. my people, and I will speak. I would testify against

  15. you Israel. I am God, your God. I bring no

  16. charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your bond offerings,

  17. which are ever before me. I have no need of

  18. a bull from your stall, or of gods from your pens.

  19. For every animal of the forest is mine, and the

  20. cattle on a thousand heels.

  21. I know every bird in the.

  22. Mountains and the insects in the fields are mine.

  23. If I were hungry.

  24. I will not tell you, for the world is mine

  25. and all that is in it. Do I eat the

  26. flesh of bulls or drink the blood of gods? Sacrifice, thanks,

  27. thank offerings to God. Fulfill your vows to the most eye,

  28. and call on me in the day of trouble. I

  29. will deliver you and you will honor me. If this

  30. Bible passage were to be readen to us in Nigeria,

  31. it is going to take this kind of dimension. Listen,

  32. my people, listen where you where they call me your god,

  33. I am talking to you. Now, pay attention. I don't

  34. get problems with your offerings.

  35. You.

  36. They bring them regularly and I see them. But make

  37. we clear something. I don't need your round cow or

  38. chicken from your compound. I know they collect gods from

  39. your village family. Every animal wait there for bush or

  40. they row for full and they passed your land.

  41. Now me get them.

  42. All the cows were full cano ranch and eels of joss,

  43. not my own. I savvy every bird where they fly

  44. for sky, from the small sparrow.

  45. To the big ego.

  46. Even all the bush meets who had the chase inside forest.

  47. I know them all. Even if I hungry, which I

  48. know they ever hungry. I know go burguna for food.

  49. Because the world the old world, from legos to my degree, from.

  50. Worry to sokoto, No me get everything. That's the thing.

  51. You think, say I they chuged you here and pemasu,

  52. or say I didn't drink God's blood like pame wine.

  53. Not be so my people waiting I really want or

  54. night waiting, I really want.

  55. Now you're sincere.

  56. Thanks.

  57. I want to make you show me gratitude and make

  58. you fulfill your promise where you don't vow to me

  59. when while I show whether the job loss, sickness, family

  60. issue or bad better, people call me. I go answer you,

  61. I go deliver you. Then you go give me. Do

  62. you read priest where I desire?

  63. Amen? Okay?

  64. What last version? One last version? If this text of

  65. the Bible were to be written to the gen z

  66. like your gen z, I will need to be written

  67. listen or more make no calm down and hear me.

  68. Now me be your g your R G O G.

  69. I did drop bars. Now nobody saying I did beef?

  70. Now for bringing sacrifice.

  71. You did?

  72. Do you relive your spots steady? I seem, but no cab.

  73. I don't need your cows or goats. I know they

  74. collect bats from my backyard. All the animals for Bush,

  75. I own them, all the cows chilling on one thousand years,

  76. my guys, I said, all the beds where the crews sky,

  77. even the ones where they are hired for Bush. No

  78. me get the daytime. If I ever chop on that

  79. which can never happen, I still know. Go ask now

  80. why us everything for the world? Now my own reason?

  81. Say how they chops? You are from bull or the

  82. same God's blood like Zobo. I beg you waiting. I

  83. they'll find be real thanksgiving. Just they're grateful and.

  84. Fulfill your vows. No longer talk when they get who

  85. c you? What do you go do?

  86. Call me Esa, I go show run out for you,

  87. and you go give me my flowers. May the Lord

  88. bless us what our hearts in Jesus' name.

  89. Bet the Lord bless us what our hearts in Jesus name.

  90. There's a lot talking to somebody this morning.

  91. If you think God does not understand any language, I

  92. can tell you he understands every language, and he can

  93. talk to every generation. That's what my God can do.

  94. Worship beyond rituals. Worship beyond rituals. Many people to theare

  95. equate worship withoutward activities like singing songs, giving off phrase,

  96. attending church services, or even fasting and praying. Why these

  97. are important expressions of diversion. They can easily become empty routines,

  98. something that you just do for fun if the heart

  99. is not truly engaged. God is not impressed by noise

  100. without meaning or sacrifices without sincerity. In some fifty Versus

  101. seven to fifty, where we have read, God speaks directly

  102. to his own people, not unbelievers.

  103. He's speaking to believers in this passage. He's speaking to.

  104. Those who regularly perform acts of worship. And it opens

  105. your eyes and ours do to this truth. It is

  106. possible to do all the right religious things and still

  107. miss the heart of true worship. It is possible for

  108. you to do everything that has to do with religion,

  109. and yet you meet it. You miss the real heart

  110. of worship. This passage is not every book. It's not

  111. just every book. It is a loving color to return

  112. to authentic worship, the kind that flaws from gratitude, the

  113. kind that flaws from obedience, the kind that flaws from

  114. trust in God and God. God is not hungry for

  115. our gifts because sometimes some people think that if I

  116. don't do this, if I don't do this, maybe God

  117. will not be God. God is God. It is normal,

  118. and that's why it declares in that passage very cleany,

  119. very cleany, very very cleany. Today, as we look at

  120. these verses of the scripture, very briefly, let us examine

  121. our lives, and we're worshiping beyond the rituals, beyond the thing,

  122. beyond just common thing that we do or are. We're

  123. simply offering sacrifices with that many Let's see a what

  124. the Bible says. Three main things that want to bring

  125. out in this passage. Three main things that want to

  126. bring out in this passage. From versus seven to eight,

  127. I'll bring something there. From nine to thirteen, I'll bring

  128. something from there, and then from fourteen and fifteen we'll

  129. have the last part of it. Number one part of

  130. this is this in versus seven and eight, God confronts

  131. his people. That's what you see there. There's a confrontation.

  132. God confronts his people. Inverse seven, he says, here, oh

  133. my people, I am God, your God. So God speaks

  134. directly to his people, not unbelievers. This rebuild is for

  135. those who claim to know him. It reminds them of

  136. who he is. And he told them He says, I

  137. am God your God, meaning he has the right to

  138. judge their worship. Look at this'st EIDs investids. He says,

  139. I will not rebulke you for your sacrifices. You're saying

  140. what you're doing, so it is not because you're giving

  141. offering because of what you're doing. You know, he said,

  142. you will not rebuke them. He knows you're giving your

  143. sacrifices regularly. But he says to them, I am not impressed.

  144. Why because your worship had become a rutuer without reference.

  145. Just do it should be the same. Make will come church, nichol,

  146. Just go church.

  147. The thought that by fulfilling the law or sacrifice, they

  148. are doing God a favole. Excuse me, you're not being

  149. God any favol. You aren't doing God no favor. God

  150. addresses his own people, not outsider us.

  151. What is the lesson for us today?

  152. This passage deflects how many Christians today go through religious motions.

  153. You go through tides, give offerings, do songs, church attendance,

  154. yet without deep reference and trust for God. The lesson

  155. here is this belonging to a church or holding a

  156. Christian title pastor reverend, doctor, bishop, most reverend.

  157. Whatever it is, dicky or deepness.

  158. It doesn't matter and it doesn't exact you from God's correction.

  159. God we correct his people external religious acts and not enough.

  160. They lack the obedience and genuine devotion that God is

  161. looking out for. Number two, listen. Number two parts that

  162. want to see is in verses nine to thirteen. And

  163. what do we see there? God declares is sufficiency. In

  164. that Versus nine to thirteen, God declares sufficiency.

  165. Look at what it says in this nine say.

  166. I will not take a ball from your house, for

  167. every bastess of the forest is mine.

  168. Every beast is mine.

  169. So God reminds his own people, I don't need your

  170. bulls and God I.

  171. Own our creation. I am not uncring like man.

  172. God is not saved by human hands, as if he

  173. needed anything. Worship is not about meeting gods, because when

  174. people think that when they come to church and maybe

  175. so that we meet in need of God, No, he

  176. has no need. Worship is about recognizing who God is.

  177. It is only when you have that right understanding of

  178. the person of God. That's why you can come to

  179. worship like this. Invested in the Bible says do I

  180. eat the flesh of gooze? He's asking them questions, and

  181. he's asking all of us, do I need money?

  182. Does God need the money? It's like a mockery. He's

  183. just joking with them. There.

  184. God doesn't need physical food. It desires spiritual sincerity. This

  185. shows that God values relationship over religion. Can we say it,

  186. say a relationship over religion? Say it loud, that relationship

  187. over religion. This is all that God is looking for.

  188. And that is why Christianity is different from every other religion.

  189. Yes, when you want to feel.

  190. From they say religion, you put Christianity and you can

  191. feel it today. But let me tell you, if you're

  192. truly a Christian, you will understand that Christianity is not

  193. a religion. It is a way of life. It is

  194. about relationship with God. That's what other religion does not have.

  195. And that is the difference. That's the difference God cherishes.

  196. God looks for relationship over religion. God looks at the

  197. heart over their habits. It is not about your habits.

  198. You may be able to speak in tongues. It doesn't matter.

  199. What is the lesson here for us this money. Worship

  200. should never be transactional.

  201. And I know that.

  202. We all know this in our society today, where worship

  203. has become transactional, it is the idea of I g.

  204. So God will bless me.

  205. No, Oh, God is looking for ten people that were

  206. just giving one hundred thousand this morning. Are you there

  207. somebody that's transactional so that God can bless them? No,

  208. my God does not work that way. It must be

  209. a relation, an act of love. Oh, and gratitude. That's

  210. what God is talking about, and not that lesson we

  211. see in those verses is that God is not sick inform.

  212. God is seking faith, faith, genuine faith. God is not

  213. looking for rich ones. God is looking for relationships. He

  214. wants the act, the act behind the act, the heart

  215. that is behind the act, your action.

  216. The God help us in the name of Jesus.

  217. In the course of the week, I was listening to

  218. to a man of God and he was sharing something

  219. in line of this. He said, in his church, where

  220. the church is located, he had a brother who was

  221. you know, everywhere everybody knows him. But somehow this brother

  222. was beginning to touch sisters in the church. Eh, I

  223. mean touch, you know, retouched to sisters in the church.

  224. And so the man of God confronted the man and said.

  225. Brous, that is not that is not right. You can

  226. be doing this in this place. And the man, the.

  227. Young man, was angry, say how can you be talking

  228. to me that way? So he left the church and

  229. he went to another church. And this church is a

  230. new is a church that just came into that environment.

  231. And so as soon as the man joined that church,

  232. how I was doing well in the Bible school, I

  233. mean Bible study, will answer it, will you know, give

  234. contributions very well? Know powerful loier this brother is. Very

  235. soon they made him the leader of youth in that place,

  236. and as God we have it, shortly they discovered that

  237. he was from a particular church. So they went to

  238. tell this man of God that was stelling the story.

  239. They went to a meeting. They say, ah, this man

  240. is from your church, and this one, this on, this on,

  241. this one, and is one of our youth leader and

  242. all of those things. But what we have observed a

  243. BOUNTI is that this man has touched many of our

  244. sisters in the church.

  245. The man was your.

  246. Busy so in seed for filling purpose, Sally, he was

  247. just fulfilling purpose. And come to think of it, and

  248. God was blessing that those seeds that was he was sewing.

  249. I know the way God was blessing the seed.

  250. Twins, twins, twins, as many songs.

  251. God is not looking for what you are doing.

  252. God is looking at the hearts. It is the heart

  253. that God sits after. It's not looking at that. You

  254. can talk about the Bible.

  255. It's not enough.

  256. God is looking at your faith. Does your faith correspond

  257. with that form that you say you have. It is

  258. not about rituals. I can do this, I can do that. No,

  259. but about relationships. Number three things that I will see

  260. in that text is in verses fourteen and fifteen. And

  261. what you see there is God prescribes to worship. God

  262. confronted them, and then again it shows them what it has.

  263. And now God is now telling them, this is the

  264. kind of worship that I want. He says, offer to God, thanksgiving,

  265. Call upon me, and what will happen?

  266. I will deliver you. So God reveals.

  267. That he truly desires what thanksgiving fulfilled vowel and depends

  268. thence on God. In trouble, can we say together, thanksgiving,

  269. fulfilled vowels, dependence on God. Let's say it again, thanksgiving,

  270. fulfilled vow dependence on God. That's all that God is

  271. looking for. Thanksgiving, a heart that remembers God's goodness, a

  272. heart that remembers God's goodness. I am who I am

  273. today just by.

  274. The grace of God. And he says, fulfilled vows.

  275. It's about integrity and sincerity before God.

  276. Oh, for many of us.

  277. When we are looking to God for something, you make

  278. a lot of promises. Are you fulfilling that vow? Go

  279. ahead and fulfieling? And he says again, dependence on God.

  280. We're in trouble, he says, call upon me and I

  281. will deliver you. It's a real relationship of trust. That's

  282. what that means. Therefore, to worship involves gratitude, obedience, and

  283. trye in God's help. God desires a thankful art, not

  284. just repeated phones.

  285. Real worship glorifies God.

  286. Not only in charge, but in life trials everywhere we are.

  287. In the Book of John, Chapter four, verse twenty three

  288. and twenty four, Jesus also attest to this. It's a

  289. true worshipers. We worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

  290. That is confirmation from Jesus himself. So not those who

  291. merely attend services. How does this apply to Rose? As

  292. I close this money? As Christians today and especially in Anigeria,

  293. how does this.

  294. Apply to Rose?

  295. Application Number one is this God is not impressed by

  296. outwards shoe. Break free from cultural Christianity. Tell somebody by

  297. your side, break free from cultural Christianity. You know what

  298. cultural Christianity is? The abbit is a kind of abbit

  299. or tradition. Some people go to church because of year?

  300. What will somebody say? Somebody will ask me where you're

  301. not in church?

  302. What happened?

  303. Some people are worshiping God because of year. Some people

  304. are doing worship because of family. Some people are doing

  305. it because they want to receive blessing from the Lord.

  306. For what a reason are you doing it? Many Nigerian

  307. believers mistake church attendance, long prayers and loud songs as

  308. proof of spirituality. No going into mountains, go into valleys

  309. and everywhere. When you will never take the Bible and

  310. even open the Bible throughout the week, and then you

  311. run ether sketter, God examines the heart.

  312. Worship without obedience is empty.

  313. Number two application is that worship is not about what

  314. we give to God, but how we relate to him.

  315. What she is not about what we give to God,

  316. but how we relate to him. It's God saying don't

  317. give a frad No, it's God saying don't go to worship.

  318. No.

  319. Is God saying don't do things that are to be

  320. done in the church. No, But God is saying do

  321. it with the whole of your hearts. Do it with

  322. the whole of your heart. Worship is not just what

  323. you do in church. It is how you live every day.

  324. Do we get that that you are in church like this?

  325. That is not enough worship? What do you do in

  326. the course of your Are you grateful or you are grumbling?

  327. Are you holy in your private life? Are you honest

  328. in business when you're in trials? Are you trusting God?

  329. God is not pleased when we sing in church and

  330. singing in secrets? No, God is not looking for that.

  331. Number three application is that religious for christy provokes God's displeasure.

  332. Hypocrisy.

  333. Everybody notices you you're doing this, but you're doing something else.

  334. You can abuse everybody. You can disrespect people. Your worship

  335. is not complete. God, give God your life, not just

  336. your lips. When they said lift up only hands, you

  337. see a lot of holy hands that are very unholy.

  338. Like Israel, many Nigerians may offer sacrifice.

  339. But what happened? They live in corruption.

  340. Manjuria is one of the most corrupted nations in the world.

  341. But check it out.

  342. We have plenty of churches, but you ask yourself the question,

  343. what is happening in all of those churches? We worship

  344. like this on Sunday we bring sacrifices to God. Yet

  345. there is triber a trade. When we get to the

  346. rem of politics. It's about me, my family and everything

  347. about me. A lot of people come to charge and

  348. give a free dance. Are free there me choice, But

  349. you see what there is this sexual scene. There is

  350. the dishonest in their lives. God says in verse seven,

  351. I will testify against you. God desires holiness, not performance.

  352. God desires who not performance. How many of us are

  353. coming to church this morney and you just had sex

  354. with somebody that is not your wife or somebody that

  355. you are not married to. It is a scene before God.

  356. Your worship can never be acceptable to God. When Jesus

  357. was caughting Isaac twenty nine and verse thirteen, he says,

  358. these people are on me with your lips, but your

  359. hats are.

  360. Far from me.

  361. Is that your situation in Nigeria today? We give offering

  362. but cheat others were first. But how about a tred?

  363. You see some people you can do forty days, sixty days,

  364. seventy days, pray and first, but let's something may fight,

  365. Just share it like this, leave church aside, live Bible

  366. us this one and we deal with you.

  367. And the person is firsty deception.

  368. And lot of people speaking tongues, but they lie in business.

  369. I've seen places where I'm feeling from and they will

  370. ask me, are you baptized in the Holy spirits with

  371. the evidence of speaking in tongues? Yet you see, and

  372. I know that a lot of people say, yes, you

  373. can speak in tongue.

  374. Black beads blow it very well. But how do you

  375. relate with other people? You lie? No, that is not

  376. your only spirit.

  377. Real worship is consistent with living, not just loud singing.

  378. And finally, one other thing that we see there is

  379. that real worship is practical. It overflows into our daily life.

  380. It overflows into our life. Let worship transform you to

  381. Worship is seen in gratitude, in integrity, in forgiveness, in compassion, effectfulness.

  382. Our Sunday, I mean our Monday to Saturday life is

  383. as much worship as our Sunday. Said this, true worship changes.

  384. How we treat others to worship changes, how we spend

  385. money to worship changes, how we angle power. True worship

  386. changes how we respond to suffering. Romance, Chapter twelve, Verse one.

  387. The Bible says, offer your bodies as living and living sacrifice,

  388. that is worship beyond the ritual. You offer your body

  389. the totality of yourself as living sacrifice to God. The

  390. question is this, are you worshiping God from your heart

  391. or just following tradition Christian go to church Sunday. Let's

  392. go to church. That's tradition. It must be beyond rituals.

  393. The question is have you replaced gratitude with performance.

  394. It's your life aligned with God that you claim to worship.

  395. Do you trust God enough to call upon Him in

  396. the day of your trouble or do you rely on

  397. rituals because I do this? Because I do this, God,

  398. no suppose allow this will happen to me. Let me

  399. conclude this way, God is calling us to worship beyond rituals,

  400. beyond traditions, to offer our lives as living sacrifices.

  401. Let your worship go.

  402. Beyond the altar of the church to the author of

  403. your heart. Let your sons be backed by a life

  404. of thanksgiving and holiness Versus fourteen and fifteen. Of that

  405. some fifty says, sacrifice things offerings to God. Fulfill your

  406. vows to the most eye, and call upon me in

  407. the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you

  408. will honor me. I pray for somebody this morning that

  409. God will grant unto you the heart of repentance and

  410. the heart of obedience to its called this morning, shall

  411. we pray together? Can you just take a moment and

  412. just search your heart? Have you been doing all rituals? Well,

  413. go to churche. Let's do it. Let's do that one.

  414. Let's do that one. We're doing it. Some of us.

  415. We don't feel like doing it at all because you

  416. feel that they are forcing you to do it.

  417. It's not it's not no, no, no no, It's not

  418. about you. It's about who God is. So the question

  419. is always God to you. If you have not come

  420. to that realization, this is your opportunity today to come

  421. to realization that, whether you like it or not, God

  422. is God. He is no man, and God is looking

  423. for a heart that is drawn to him, a heart
